hi, i am white/lakota. i have been speaking to some rtvs mods about the situation, and i'm going to be working with gir on it.

the official statement will be looked at for sensitivity by a native person, me! this is an update for the general tag right now as a lot has been kept private as we work on this.

i post here because people know the name gusherbug, and this will show up in the tags. please know someone native is working directly with the crew about handling this tactfully and well. ty

We're four indigenous american fans of WayneRadioTV and his twitch team RadioTV Solutions (RTVS). We each come from a different nation and background. As we are intimately aware, the lead dev and creator of the game P*zza T*wer is an unapologetic racist against native american and first nations people, having been documented calling us multiple slurs in his free time and inserting a racial caricature in the game itself. The November sponsorship for Fangamer's PT merch collection, that RTVS made the collective decision to take, has made every one of us behind this letter feel unheard, mocked, and ashamed to be Native and indigenous RTVS fans. We wanted to do something to confront the anti-native racism apologia of the RTVS crew.

After sending our criticisms to the Fangamer company itself, we came to the decision re: RTVS to do what white people always want us to do; protest peacefully with our words in an attempt to find a common ground and foster empathy. So we decided to write a collaborative letter in good faith, appealing to the humanity of the RTVS team by vulnerably expressing how this experience with anti-native racism in this community has been both hurtful and harmful.

Here is the letter in it's entirety as it was delivered to RTVS:

Upon delivering it via Wayne's discord server, it was not well recieved by the team at all.

I don't have screenshots bc we left pretty quick, but the entire interaction remains up on the discord General-2 channel if you want to look. To summarize, Wayne did apologize for 'misspeaking' when he originally implied the dev had apologized. He went on to say that nothing else was done wrong because Fangamer was the one paying the racist dev, not RTVS, ergo advertising the dev's merch was fine. Wayne then brought up one of our letter writer's personal vent post that was deleted the same day it was posted that mistakenly said 'donations' instead of 'merch', and cited it as why he was dismissing the rest of the letter. Mira kept telling us to just send a modmail ticket, Mike said that we don't actually have our tribe's best interests at heart for doing this, and a well known mod came out of nowhere to aggressively scold us as they believed the letter was calling RTVS homophobic? Still don't understand that last one.

Anyway, it seems most of the chat members present DID like the letter. Some left the server because of how they witnessed RTVS respond to us, and others sent us messages of support and solidarity. So maybe the tumblr RTVS and HLVRAI fans will like it too!

Please read our plea to RTVS, and come to your own conclusion on if this treatment of indigenous voices is one you want to go unaccounted for.
