The underground headframe of the DeSoto Mine One of the most incredible structures within the underground workings of the DeSoto Mine is this headframe/tipple. Below the structure is the shaft into the lower levels of the DeSoto, which remain flooded. Beside it lays an ore bucket that was once used to haul ore from those lower levels below. While most of the wood 🪵 this structure was constructed with is rotting away, the headframe still stands, albeit with much damage. . . . . . . . . . . . . . #arizona #azmineexplorer #arizonaadventures #adventure #abandonedmine #underground #underground_exploration #undergroundphotography #photooftheday #picoftheday #photography #photoblog #dslrphotography #nikonphotography #exploringabandonedplaces #exploration #exploring #explorepage #explore #exploringabandonedmines #exploremore (at Bradshaw Mountains) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cdv_H2qPccu/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Circus Circus is a former nightclub that closed down in 2006 - whilst not much can be found online about the site the building has some history to it, opening as the Spencer Arms in 1931 and then Monroe's in 1989. Currently, the site is for sale at £375000, with proposals for a residential development on the site subject to a change of use application. However it is doubtful that it will sell anytime in the near future, as it has been for sale since at least 2009. The club is in quite a sorry state now, the offices upstairs have almost a dangerous smell to them, and carpets across the building are covered in mould. As the most recent report I can find on here is from 2010, it is difficult to see how the state of it has progressed over time, but it seems that vandals have had their fair share of smashing it up since then.... we have had our eye on this for a while so when the opportunity arose we were quick to take it. The building as it stands is set back from Ferensway, with fencing all around a yard that is scattered with building materials. Access was fairly easy although we were nearly spotted by what looked like a security guard on the way out, we legged it to the other side of the site and took the long way home in case we ran into him... Other than that we had no trouble from anyone, although the proximity to Ferensway means you can hear cars and people going by which can be quite disconcerting as we found when we thought we could hear others inside. The inside is nearly completely boarded up meaning you can fire your flash and shine torches at will (we went under the cover of night), however in the offices upstairs some windows are open to view and some boards do not cover the whole window, so you might be caught out if it is in fact patrolled by security as we thought. We started in the function room upstairs, however I didn't really get any decent photos in there myself. This is the landing next to the function room with the stairs leading down. #exploringabandonedplaces

Futher into the main haulage tunnel of tue DeSoto Mine. After advancing through the initially flooded segments, the main haulage tunnel of the DeSoto Mine begins to show its beautiful colors. Blue tinged mud begins to appear on the side of the tunnels, indicating a heavy presence of copper. Copper is the main commodity found and mined in the DeSoto Mine. However, prospectors have located gold, silver, lead, zinc, iron, and tungsten within the mineral deposits of the DeSoto Mine. Look out next week as we explore the inner workings of the DeSoto Mine! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #az #arizona #AZMH #AZ_mining_HST #azmineexplorer #abandonedmine #AZMININGHISTORY #copper #underground #underground_exploration #photography #photoblog #exploringabandonedplaces #exploration #exploring #explorepage #explore #exploringabandonedmines #mineexplorer #underlander (at Bradshaw Mountains) https://www.instagram.com/p/CcqZbFhJPye/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

the former Primitive Methodist Chapel at the junction of Madeley Street and Hessle Road, Hull. Designed by William Freeman in white brick with stone dressings and built in 1880-81 at a cost of £8,200 it was the most costly Primitive chapel in the city. It closed in 1933 and was taken over in 1934 by the Elim Pentecostal Church who renamed it the City Temple, then closed again in 1984 when the City Temple moved to Princes Avenue. Overall the place was ok, lots of props and scenery left over from the theatre group who had used the old sunday school building to the rear of the chapel. The chapel itself is not much ore than a pile of rotting wood! Had planned in place Proposal 1. Change of use from place of worship to 12 apartments. 2. Construction of new 3 storey block at rear to form 8 apartments with car parking on ground floor following demolition of existing building at rear). #exploringabandonedplaces (at Hull Hessle Road)

Lord Line Building/St Andrew's Docks, Hull, This and several other buildings that remain used to make up St Andrew’s dock. The Dock opened in 1883 and was originally designed for the coal trade but was used almost exclusively for the fishing industry. The dock had its own ice plant, a maintenance slipway, banks, shops, cafes and even had a post office, a doctor’s surgery and a police station, complete with prison cells. The dock was extended in 1897. The Lord Line building officially opened in 1949 to serve Hull’s trawling industry. The trawlers left for the North Sea and the Norwegian sea. A survey in 1954 said that for every fisherman working at sea there were up to three people working ashore in associated jobs. This totaled almost 50,000 workers or one-in-five of Hull’s population at the time. The decline started when Iceland declared there would be a 200 mile limit to where trawlers would be able to fish off Iceland itself. It struck a massive blow to the fishing industry. One so significant that the industry never recovered and the dock closed in 1975. Apparently 6,000 men sailed to their deaths at sea in this most dangerous post-war occupation. The filling of the dock itself began in the late 1980s. It has been threatened with demolition but local history groups protested and at present the future of the building is uncertain. In terms of the explore itself, when I rocked up to the dock there were a number of teenage gangs hanging around. Access to the Lord Line was possible but I thought I would come back the next morning when the coast was clearer. On returning the next day said gangs had gone but in the end caution got the better part of valor. I didn’t really fancy going into such a large and dark maze-like building that was in a bit of a state on my own. Fortunately I had enough decent externals to still merit a report. The first thing you come to is part of the old dock: #exploringabandonedplaces (at Lord Line)
