pikmin
#I hc that red pikmin have tiny little spines‚ like glochids#and that’s why they do more damage#also I tried making the white and purple ones be more root veggie like since they live in the caves#yes that is a root tail. it helps white pikmin with digging#purple also have the tail because again. root like. mayhaps it contributes to their damage too#yellow is just a creature#blue is self explanatory. made it look aquatic with the flower looking lotus like and having sorta? amphibian lookin features?#because you know. they can be in both land and water#I wanted the flowers to all look different but also make them all have 5 petals#to have that be one of the things all pikmin share#also I made purples have umbels because haha get it carrot#idk man I’m just messing around and looking things up I’m not a biology expert#oh wait yeah I made yellow a bit shorter and made the eyes round to kinda match with white?? idk why it’s just cute ig#and Yes I know yellows are the best at digging right now but I like p2 white pikmin lore ok? ok 👍#pikmin#pikmin game

I went looking for wild grapes a week or so ago and was devastated when I thought there were none in the spot where I knew there used to be some, even last year. Because grapes can be very invasive and grow super fast, I'm pretty sure that they were cut back (or sprayed with some sort of weed killer) and the vines that grew back were too young for fruit, which has to be to a year or two old.
But success! I found some on accident! Also by train tracks lol
Since wild grapes are so tasty and I feel that everyone should try them if they have the chance. They are more sour, but they have such an intense favor and I love it. The juice stains super easily, including your skin, turning from a bright purple to a blue to a purply gray. unfortunate that the prettier shades can't be dyed (that I know of). It's not at that point in the season yet, but they can ferment on the vine and are quite the surprise if you eat it (the berries will wrinkle). My dad once saw a bird that was presumably drunk on fermented wild grapes.
however, as always when you forage something, you need to be absolutely, 100% certain what you're eating is not a poisonous look alike. The one I run into most often is poke weed which looks like this:
Poke weed berries are POISONOUS. they are identifiable with their pink stems, black shiny berries, and long leaves. In comparison, wild grapes have a "haze" on the skin (which is normal and safe to eat, it's basically natural wax) that can be wiped off, intense blue color, green stem, and the berries are spaced irregularly.
However, there's another much closer look alike (that I haven't seen, but is in many US states and Canada) called Moonseed, which is also very poisonous
These are NOT grapes. since they look practically identical, the best way to tell the difference between the two, you can look at the seeds: moonseed have flat, crescent shaped seeds (middle picture) while grapes have rounder ones. the left picture is a comparison between the two seeds. the leaves also look different. Grape leaves are serrated or toothed with three main points (actually not so different from maple leaves except rounder). Moonseed seems to have a few varieties with different leaves, ranging from heart shaped to closer in shape to grape leaves, but none serrated.
If you really aren't sure, don't eat it. Better to be safe than sorry. I am not a foraging expert, just someone who has been eating wild grapes for many a year.
(one final pic because pretty and it shows the leaves and berries off well)
#me rambling#foraging#ig#wild grapes#i was so disappointed that I couldnt find any grapes the first time around (and tired I did like a 3 mile round trip in heeled boots in 85F#(i could have biked and choose not to for some god forsaken reason)#I was like “whaddya mean there's no grapes???? I found some right here last year!”#my family once picked a five gallon bucket worth of grapes from that spot and it barely put a dent#WHADDYA MEAN THERE'S NONE THERE???#also yes I'm aware that eating something that is literally five feet away from train tracks might pose the risk of contamination#however i 1) don't care tasty grapes 2) haven't died yet 3) microplastics in food and#4) if the pesticides my grandpa sprayed within 20 ft of my house when i was 1-6 y/o have (yet) to show signs of affecting me#surely a couple grapes won't kill me#once again I AM NOT AN EXPERT IN FORAGING I KNOW LIKE THREE PLANTS#i wasn't even aware of moonseed until i looked up any other possible look alikes

One thing about all the multi-classing Frog does is something I explain by how if you pick up Conjurer early in your journey, and also Thaumaturge, they will put the fear of god in you about overdoing various magical aspects, and then WHM and BLM only make it worse.
So Frog, as a born Arcanist and nerd, carefully makes notes about every job and how its aether affects you and how much she has been using lately, and swaps out regularly to maintain a pristine internal environment, and goes RDM to sort out pretty much any health complaint the way you and I would reach for ibuprofen, on a sort of paranoid belief that using some earth aspected spells for a while will sort things out.
She grimly white-knuckled through Shadowbringers as Bard/Arcanist and then went and levelled Black Mage and Dark Knight, which had been languishing, to ward off any lingering symptoms, and now keeps in perfect practice with all her jobs (aka I am a nerd who has them all at 90) so nothing can ever catch her out like that again.
#I got her aethersick on RDM on expert roulette a month or so ago#and realised I'd never fucked up the rotation so much that ever happened before#(I'd missed a round of the rotation because an enemy died and I didn't finish the cast then hit manafication and it ruined everything)#and oh my god it took me like 5 minutes to get her mana back in order#it was GRUELLING#it really made me think about it more because I hadn't even realised aethersickness and becoming a vampire was a job mechanic#I thought they were being overdramatic in the job quests#and then Frog spent five minutes craving white mana and in some sort of spiral before I could get it right#what does that FEEL like#ffxiv#shadowbringers spoilers#vaguely#also why is RDM the only job which actually will stomp you into the floor for 5 minutes for getting the rotation wrong#that's so evil#I love it#bounding frog

I am once again second-guessing my idea of myself that I don't know a ton about horses and am not an expert. Because I just saw a comments section explode into nightmares over a video of a wild horse, because people were insisting that the white markings on its back legs were "ankle wraps" (on a horse that was wandering in an un-fenced area with no halter on with 20 other horses). And like, maybe I AM a serious fucking horse expert, because 90% of "horse people" I see online are out of their minds and also the stupidest people I've ever met in my life.
And then I'm remembering the insane person who attacked me the other week and called me an animal abuser because I have a mustang who likes me, and said that rounding up horses is like nazi death camps. These anti-mustang roundup people are just never fucking normal and cannot stop bringing up the holocaust, ever.
"You probably abuse your animals because your once-wild horse isn't traumatized like I've read on facebook they ALL are, and she actually likes you" is in the top 3 most insane fucking things ever said to me in my entire life. These people can't fathom that their made-up storybook ideas of wild horses aren't actually true and rescues exaggerate and make shit up to get their money, so surely the thousands of people who actually work with wild horses are all animal abusers. Oh my actual god.
#they literally said every mustang that's rounded up has trauma from it#and im like wow way to out yourself#as having never interacted with a mustang in your fucking life LOL#surely the experts are the people who spend all day online#and have never actually been around a horse#i bet you think riding horses is inherently abusive too you brain genius#just saying if the extent of your horse experience#is playing Star Stable Online#you should probably shut the fuck up about actual horses forever thanks.
