Been thinking about Lilo and Stitch lately along with the underrated experiments from the mixed review anime Stitch, a spin-off series based on the world of Lilo and Stitch. I've drawn Dark End and Witch, but not the other two I also like. Here's both: Experiment 147 Bragg/Flute and the one labeled Experiment 0 known as Cyber. I gave both slight redesigns.
Tumblr media
With Bragg, the one who lies and schemes to get what he wants, I made his heart markings cracked. As a cunning trickster and liar who uses popularity to gain more power, I can see him having broken hearts as an alternative take to his heart patterns to represent this after when everyone saw his true colors shine.
Tumblr media
As much as I really liked Cyber's design, I thought the cyborg eye he had in the original looked a bit too goofy, so I redesigned it with a lil help and inspiration from Sonic Prime's Rusty Rose.

Uh oh it's a little late but guess who's posting about Oshi no Ko again, courtesy of chapter 147~
I have no goddamn clue what Aka is cooking.
As if ANYBODY knows what Aka is cooking LMAO. At this point we're all just here going along for the ride, regardless of where it ends up. At the very least, I'm stubbornly keeping my faith in him... and also theorycrafting. That's what this post is. Buckle up, folks. Spoilers below... here are my thoughts and speculations on the latest chapter.
In any case, starting with the first part of the chapter, featuring Kamiki. Honestly? I kind of doubt that Ruby didn't recognize him. It's not even a case of anime sameface, if Akane could recognize the uncanny resemblance, then so should Ruby... especially considering her current feelings for Aqua (lmao).
Which does beg the question... being that if she DID recognize him and her romantic feelings for Gorou haven't dumbed her down (which is the worst case scenario), why would she talk with him like this? Well, it's made clear by Ruby herself... she isn't sure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thanks to Aqua, she's abandoned the path of revenge, entrusting it all to him (without knowing just how badly he's doing mentally as a result). She's "poured out" her hatred so that she can move on, so that she can pursue the dream she's held in her heart throughout both her past life and her current life. To be an idol, to shine even brighter than Ai, one of the "stars" that kept her going when she was Sarina.
She's also learned, through acting for this movie, the unfortunate truth that nothing in this world is as simple as black and white. Hikaru Kamiki, her father, the one who killed Ai... he was never as simple as a malicious and unforgivable villain. He's a boy who has gone through severe hardships that sent him down the path to being the broken individual he is today.
But that doesn't mean she can forgive him. No matter where he came from or why he did it, the fact remains that he took Ai from them. She wants to pour out her hate, but that feeling stubbornly remains. Thus, she's at a dilemma. Is it right for her to continue hating him? Can she really move on if she does?
Tumblr media
I think that's why she talks to him, why she tells him all this, while acting like he's just a stranger. In interacting with him directly, she hopes to receive an answer on what to do. (God I will pop the hell off if I actually got this right. Give me this, Aka. Tell me I'm just as batshit crazy as you are.)
Now, obviously I can hear the cries about how that really isn't the smartest play. I mean, come on girl, you are dealing with a literal murderer. There is not a single instant during this interaction where she isn't in very real danger... but impulsiveness is one of Ruby's defining traits. I think we need to stop expecting her to do the logical thing. She was in broad daylight, so she must've figured he wouldn't have killed her THERE... but it's hard to tell at this point.
She took her opportunity to give voice to her thoughts to the very subject of her hatred, but revenge isn't her goal anymore. Aqua brought her off of that path, even if she doesn't realize the consequences of leaving it all to him. In any case, those are my thoughts on Ruby.
Now, for Hikaru...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
God he's so fucked up. God it's so interesting to me that his star turned white in that moment.
It couldn't be clearer where Hikaru's insane fucking headspace is at. He kills those with potential, those who shine the brightest, because by depriving the world of that light he can feel the "weight" of his own. Fucked up! Truly, not a single person in this family is okay.
But again, it's interesting to me that his star was white in this moment. We see him approaching Ruby as if to push her down the stairs, but it makes me wonder if he really was going to kill her. If he was going to kill her, wouldn't his star be black? The stars mean a lot of things symbolically, but murderous intent seems to be a theme with the black stars...
...or maybe he's just so fucked up that killing is, for him, what gives him those white stars. If feeling the weight of his life after killing is what he lives for, then maybe that's what gives him that light, even if only briefly.
For the moment, it's all speculation. Akane comes in with the save and gets Ruby away from him before anything can happen... and honestly, I gotta wonder what Akane's place is in all of this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As we know, Akane is trying to put a "stop" to Aqua's revenge. What this means exactly is up in the air... since I doubt she's here to make it so Hikaru gets away scot free. She was willing to kill him herself for Aqua, after all, and hell... it seems like even Hikaru is willing to accept Aqua's revenge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So it begs the question as to what "stopping" Aqua means in this regard. Is she just trying to stop him from "killing" Kamiki? Is she still planning to kill him herself to take that away from Aqua? What is my girl cooking?? Aqua's mental state aside I don't think you should want to help this guy, Akane.
But back to Hikaru... or actually, more specifically, the ending of the movie arc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah we sure did rush through this, didn't we? But honestly... I'm actually not complaining, but not because I didn't like this arc.
Because I think it makes sense that we've rushed through all of this. Because in the end, though this movie is possibly at least 90% accurate according to Akane... I think there's much more to this than what's been written in the script. What we've seen of Ai and Hikaru was all written as a story... and that's it.
We don't know how much of it is true.
I think that's why we've brushed past everything so quickly. Stuff like all the scenes we didn't see, Ai's rejection, etc etc... I think those were skipped because Aka isn't going to show us that through the context of a movie where we can't tell how much of it is really true.
I think we're leading up to seeing the details of Ai and Hikaru's relationship through Hikaru's own eyes, and that's why we've skipped so much.
...alternatively, the next chapters will include the parts of the movie we've missed out on seeing, but I think my idea is better, actually—
In any case, those are my thoughts. If it turns out that I got ANY of this even slightly right, I'm going to be reblogging this to hell and back. Let me into your headspace, Aka Akasaka.

Once the birds had learned how to initiate video interactions, the second phase of the experiment could begin. In this “open call” period, the 15 participating birds could make calls freely; they also got to choose which bird to dial up. Over the next two months, pet parrots made 147 deliberate video calls to other birds. Their owners took detailed notes about the calls and recorded more than 1,000 hours of video footage that the researchers analyzed.

This month is the 40th anniversary of John Torrington’s exhumation and autopsy. I’ve been doing real-time daily updates over on this post to show just how long and drawn out the process was. It took over a week, starting from when Beattie arrived on Beechey to when they first started digging to when they finally got the coffin open. Right now, those updates are in a bit of a lull because, after they dug down to the coffin, they had to wait for permits to move onto the next part, so there won’t be another Daily Torrington Dig update until August 17.
While we’re waiting for Beattie to get his permits to crack open a cold one (Torrington’s coffin) with the boys (his scientific research team), you can check out my Torrington blog posts to keep the spirit of the season going. The posts Sacred to the Memory of and A Star Is Born would be especially applicable right now as they explore Torrington’s death, exhumation, autopsy, and the media’s response to the photographs of his well-preserved body.
But there’s something else I wanted to share here, another type of media response that I’ve known about (and had a copy of) for a while. I shared it years ago on Twitter, thinking it would get a laugh there, but that was, er, not the reaction I received, so I’d held off on sharing it anywhere else because I thought most people would find it inappropriate. However, I was reminded recently by a friend (don’t know if they want to be tagged here or not, so I’ll go with not) about the existence of this particular piece, and I realized that this might be something that would be more appreciated here on Tumblr, where we like to photoshop Torrington’s corpse into memes, ship him with the guy he’s buried next to, and want to see what he would think of Takis and flavored vapes.
The article I’m referring to is the story about Torrington that appeared in the Weekly World News.
If you’re not familiar with the Weekly World News, it was a notorious tabloid that made up absurd stories and pretended it was real news. Some news stories were actually true—so it wasn’t completely like today’s The Onion—but there were also plenty of clearly fictional articles, featuring bizarre, often supernatural stories, such as Elvis sightings, a double-decker bus mysteriously found at the South Pole (“scientists” claimed aliens did it), or Bat Boy, a boy who was part bat, part boy.
Torrington’s level of fame within the cultural consciousness of the time meant that he, too, got to experience the tabloid treatment.
(CW: pictures of Torrington’s mummified body beneath the cut)
Published on March 3, 1992, was this front-page story:

Hush-hush new drug revives corpse, say doctors!
Yes, according to the Weekly World News, John Torrington was brought back to life in 1992. There’s even a full article all about how it happened.

MAN FROZEN SINCE 1845 BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE!
Scientists revive seaman trapped in ice 147 years!
Sailor back from the dead still thinks James K. Polk is President of the U.S.!
By Cal Sanders, Special Correspondent
The perfectly preserved corpse of a British sailor who was buried in an icy grave after he died on an Arctic expedition in 1845 has been revived by scientists—147 years later!
And while Petty Officer John Torrington’s health is fragile at best, the team of doctors who illegally plucked him from his grave and brought him back to life say he is aware of his surroundings, walking with help and might very well be able to lead a normal life “if this man has the psychological strength to adapt to the 20th century.”
“It’s hard to believe but this man thinks James K. Polk is President of the United States and insists that horses and sailing ships are the best and fastest ways to travel,” Dr. Hermann Richter said in his report on the experiment that brought Torrington back to life.
“Electric lights literally scare the hell out of him and to be perfectly frank about it, he hasn’t quite decided if he’s dead or alive. About the best we can do at this point is take his recovery one day at a time.
“If Torrington survives we will have produced a living piece of history. If he dies, at least we’ll be able to say that we tried to do something that might ultimately have benefited all mankind.”
The decision to steal Torrington’s corpse from its grave in northern Canada couldn’t have come easy for the Richter team, which issued its report to selected European newspapers “from an undisclosed clinic in Germany.”
For starters, the young man’s grave has stood as an unofficial monument to the courage and determination of 128 adventurers led by British explorer Sir John Franklin—adventurers who gave up their lives to chart the last 300-mile-leg of the treacherous Northwest Passage between 1845 and 1848. Torrington’s body was exhumed once before, in 1983, but it was carefully reburied after scientists took a small tissue sample to determine the cause of death. As it turned out, Torrington died from lead poisoning after eating provisions out of tins that were sealed with the dangerous and often lethal metal. Needless to say, news that Richter and his associates secretly exhumed the body a second time, smuggled it into Germany and succeeded in bringing it back to life have infuriated many experts, some of whom consider the theft of the body criminal. Richter himself insisted that Torrington is in good hands and will be free to go when he is strong enough.
The doctor went on the say that he understands why the experiment might sound extreme to some people but he believes that the revival of Torrington “furthered the best interests of medicine and science.” Richter’s report did not include any of the techniques that were used to revive Torrington but it did mention “an exciting new drug” that might one day make such revivals routine.
Because he died of lead poisoning, it is also believed that Richter and his team somehow cleansed Torrington’s tissue of the deadly metal before bringing him back to life. For the record, Torrington was a man of 20 when he died. Now he looks like a man of 80, photos supplied by Richter show.
“A century and a half of death is enough to age anyone,” said Richter.
There’s a lot to unpack here—the morally dubious German doctor with a mysterious, Frankenstein-esque resurrection method; the burial and exhumation dates both being off by one year for some reason; the short, skinny guy in the obvious bald cap that they thought would pass as Torrington; and so much more. Interestingly, a lot of the article seems to focus more on how scandalous it is that Dr. Richter stole Torrington’s body, as if the writer thought that the revival of a long-dead corpse wasn’t enough of a scoop. Also, I’m not sure if Torrington would even have been aware that Polk was president in 1845—was he the sort of guy who paid attention to international politics? Wouldn’t it have made more sense for him to think Victoria was still queen?
Many people might be offended by such an article, but the Weekly World News never cared about who they offended. Unsurprisingly, one of those who did take umbrage with the story was Dr. Owen Beattie.
In a short article in the Times-Colonist Metro about a week after the Weekly World News story ran, we got to hear Owen Beattie’s reaction.
Tumblr media
HEE-(T)HAW . . . It was standard checkout rag fare. “Man Buried in 1845 brought back to life” shouted a recent front page of Weekly World News. “Hush-Hush New Drug Revives Corpse,” it continued.
These startling revelations bore some significance for both the wax museum’s Ken Lane and University of Alberta anthropologist Owen Beattie. The man purportedly thawed like last night’s dinner was John Torrington, one of three sailors from the Franklin expedition buried on Beechy [sic] Island. The Franklin expedition—and John Torrington—feature large in the wax museum’s arresting Frozen in Time expedition. Torrington’s body was exhumed from its Arctic grave in ’84 by Dr. Beattie, who determined death was from lead poisoning.
Neither Ken nor the anthropologist felt their respective professional worlds crumbled with the News article. (It ran with a photo of an emaciated looking chap being assisted by doctors and reports that Torrington is terrified of electric lights, still believes Polk is the U.S. president, and horses are the only way to go.) Ken shrugged it off with a what-can-you-expect-from-a-checkout-rag laugh. The anthropologist wasn’t quite so forgiving.
He refused to comment on it at all, insisting that his research speaks for itself. Apparently John Torrington was quite dead when he was exhumed and equally so when buried after the autopsy. But then that’s not the sort of stuff that sells check-out rags.
While it’s perfectly understandable that Beattie would not appreciate something like the Weekly World News’ fake story, what I find most interesting about this snippet is that there was a wax museum with a Franklin Expedition exhibit that included Torrington??? Does that mean there was a Torrington wax figure???? Where is it now????? Can I buy it?????????
These very important questions aside, it’s fascinating to see that Torrington was well known enough to make it into a “checkout rag.” Maybe it’s not the legacy he would have wanted, but at least it’s worth a good laugh.

Any suggestions on getting into Storm centered comics? what should i read if i wanna understand her upcoming solo? thank u so much !
So you're looking to get into Marvel's greatest character? I got you 🤝
Ok so this is a very daunting question because 1-Storm's character very organically develops all throughout the Claremont run which is like...300 issues of "old" comic books. 2- I'm not all that caught up in the 2000s and 2010s comics so I have a huge gaping blind spot.
But if I were to suggest important issues to get her deal as a character and to prime yourself on her inner conflicts for Storm (2024) here are my suggestions (mostly 70s-80s focused because that's when she has her most major character arcs):
(in blue the ESSENTIAL reads, remember these are team comics, so not always 100% Storm)
My quick Storm (ororo Munroe) reading guide:
Tumblr media
Giant size X-Men #1 (1975)
Classic era:
Tumblr media
Her first comic book appearance
Uncanny X-Men (UXM) #113
It's got a quick Ororo scene that personally, made me fall in love with the character
UXM #102
Ororo's origin story revealed!
UXM #145, #146 and #147
Her first meeting with Doom who will appear in her solo and her "Rogue form" that will also be explored in the solo!
UXM #150
Storm being essential to Magneto's character development and overall a badass! Storm and Magneto have a very interesting relationship which begins here.
UXM #154-#155
Read this if you want insight into Storm and Cyclops' great friendship (they're siblings your honour!) and their relationship to being leaders of the X-Men! Cyclops is set to appear in her solo, so I'd say it's good to know that they're great friends.
UXM #165
Ororo has a VERY cool moment in this issue and it earns her the title "she who swam with Acanti". It's badass, it shows her inner strength in the face of defeat, it's great Storm content. Read the Brood saga (UXM #154 to #167) for more context of this alien space adventure.
Storm's main character arc! :
If there are ever storm comics you gotta read, it's truly these ones.
Tumblr media
Before the fall:
UXM #169, #170!!!, #171, #172, #173
In these issues Storm knows change, and she is rattled by her own ruthless actions. This will lead her through a path of transformation and self reflection that is what makes Storm such an incredible character to me.
UXM #179, UXM #180
To see her with the morlocks again and to get an idea of her unstable mental state at this point before her BIG depowered arc. She also has a very touching moment with kitty (they have an older sister/younger sister relationship 🥺)
Depowered Storm (the fall AND the rise):
Unarguably her most iconic arc. Storm losing her powers gives us incredible and touching insight into who she is as a person beyond the picture of a perfect goddess. A MUST read
UXM #184 (for context), #185!
The loss of powers
UXM #186!!!!
AKA. Life death part 1, widely regarded as some of the best X-Men comics ever along with life death part 2 that you will see later on.
UXM #187 and #188
Full no powers badass Storm.
UXM #198!!!
Aka. Life death part 2, a religious experience. Storm excellency. This is like no other X-Men comic you'll ever read!
UXM #201
It isn't the Storm centric issue everyone makes it out to be, but her being asked to duel Scott for X-Men leadership is still very iconic.
UXM #211 and #212
The mutant massacre is a very interesting and tough challenge for Storm who finds herself again at her lowest despite life death part 2. Important reads!
UXM# 215-216
Fun storm centric action!
This is pretty much all I'll recommend of classic stuff for the moment as I am also reading through the insane amount of bronze age issues.
To hop onto Storm (2024):
Planet size X-Men (2021)
Tumblr media
Here are the modern age issues I find relevant to get her current state of mind:
Ororo's role during the Krakoa era truly kick-starts here with helping Terraform Mars, which will become the planet Arakko that she rules along a council of mutants. This era is important to understand Ororo as she is in her solo and shows how she navigates many challenges.
The full series X-Men Red (2022) by Al Ewing! *Read Immortal X-Men #11 along with X-Men Red #11 (I can't remember in what order)
This is the most recent Storm-lead book, it's great Ororo stuff!!!!
Resurrection of Magneto by Al Ewing!
Despite the name, this is a BRILLIANT Ororo comic that is extremely recent, extremely good and explores her character in beautiful ways.
I think it's a great primer for her solo if you only wanna read four issues. (Chronologically it comes after X-Men Red)
That's about all I would lay on you! Good reading! And remember that Storm (2024) is written with new readers in mind so, no pressure at all to know everything <3 🌩️
Wanna read some recent leader of X-Men Ororo? X-treme X-Men by Chris Claremont is made for that. (In between the classic era and the modern era chronologically? It's not that good, but it's something.
Avengers (2023) by Jed McKay.
Storm will be in the avengers as well as her solo! She is introduced into the team at issue #17 so you can pick up from that and read in synch with the solo!

EXTEMPORANEOUS REMARKS OF THE
PRESIDENT ON SIGNING THE PROCLAMATION
ADMITTING HAWAII INTO THE STATE OF THE
UNION, AND THE EXECUTIVE ORDER DESIGNATING
THE NEW DESIGN FOR THE UNITED
STATES FLAG AT 4:00 P.M., FRIDAY,
AUGUST 21, 1959
Gentlemen:
I think that we shall recognize that this is truly an historic occasion because for the second time within a year a new State has been admitted to the Union. It had been a long time since any State had been admitted, so to have this 49th and 50th membership of our Union in such a short space is truly a unique experience.
All forty-nine States will join in welcoming the new one -- Hawaii -- to this Union. We will wish for her prosperity, security, happiness, and a growing closer relationship with all of the other States. We know that she is ready to do her part to make this Union a stronger Nation -- a stronger people than it was before because of her presence as a full sister to the other forty-nine States. So all of us say to her, "Good Luck." And to each of her representatives, a very fine tour of service in the public domain. We know that they will find their work interesting and fruitful for all of us.
* * * * * * *
The Speaker just reminds me of one fact that has great historic significance. Next Monday will be the first time in 158 years there has not been a Delegate in the membership of the Congress of the United States. The Delegates are gone and in their place we have Senators and Congressmen.

I was thinking about the smug boyo Bragg/Flute from Stitch!, so I decided to do a collage of the dude. I may enjoy the anime in general as well as the experiments Witch, Darks(my nickname for Dark End), and Cyber, but Bragg happens to be another favorite of mine from the anime. I enjoy how the villain experiments are written whether they be main or side, and Bragg is the perfect definition of a wolf in sheep's clothing. He uses his cuteness and musical abilities to receive popularity to gain power, something added by Hamsterviel when he modified the experiment's physical appearance. In fact, at max power, he could even rival Stitch when it comes to strength. Even though the modified version of the experiment is more well known, the anime shows us an official design of what Bragg/Flute formerly looked like, and it's quite an interesting design.

Today's @wolfstarmicrofic prompt is admirer!
(147 words.)
The giggling starts in Sirius' third class.
He's only just started teaching at Hogwarts with Remus, and he definitely isn't expecting all of the... staring. Mostly from the girls, but a good few boys, too. It's quite the experience, a scary number of fifth and seventh years picking up charms. Honestly? He has a feeling that none of them are actually taking in anything he says. At least Moony seems entertained by the whole thing.
Especially when February rolls around.
Every morning at breakfast, at least one Valentine will be dropped onto the teachers table by an owl, and every single time Remus laughs, their hands intertwined under the table. This day is no different, with a new record of seven Valentines hitting his table.
"Wow, another admirer, huh?" Remus says with an amused smile. Sirius bats his arm, trying to suppress his own laugh.
"Shut up."

I have to ask. What would it have been like if Sakido survived her escape from Hell? Like, how much would she have added if she was alive and with Rhea and Buwaro?
❗ Spoilers for my webcomic, Slightly Damned ❗ Darius would have had no idea where his children went. He would have no way of finding out unless he happened to meet Rhea somewhere. (page 894). Sakido was strong enough to carry both Buwaro and Rhea while flying. They could have easily flown over Fuzen'ro Forest and missed Kieri entirely. Kieri would not have survived without being found by Buwaro (page 147). Without Kieri, Buwaro may have never learned to read (page 857, page 1073). Both Rhea and Sakido easily lose their tempers when dealing with his bubbly and naive personality. Kieri is infinitely patient and gentle with him in a way that the others aren't. Taking advice from Rhea, Buwaro's desire for a relationship with Kieri motivates him to self improve (page 346, page 347, page 348). Having a relationship with Kieri is what motivates him to seek a way to end the war between Demons and Angels peacefully (page 952, page 956). Buwaro felt profound grief and loss when Sakido died. The experience of losing her permanently changed him. He felt guilty for not paying more attention to her needs, and became the emotionally sensitive lovebug we all know today (page 871, page 944). If Sakido lived, when would Buwaro have started growing up?
When Sakido died, Rhea promised she would take care of Buwaro in her place (page 92). With Sakido alive, Rhea might not feel an obligation to stick with the Demon siblings, seeing that she was free in Medius again. Either way, Rhea would have no reason to return to the Fuzen'ro Forest Jakkai village. She and J would likely travel together directly to Ghardin City to reunite with Ramirez (page 585). Sammy could still have saved the Fairy sisters, Eve and Willow, with the help of her family, The Sinclairs. But Buwaro, Kieri, and Rhea would not have gotten Eve's royal blessing, which is somehow detectable even by Fairies who have never met them before and makes them easy to identify (page 669). Miranda Sinclair would not have been able to make The Rainbow Reverie without harvesting ingredients from Kieri and Buwaro (page 446). Without the Green Rainbow Reverie potion, Lakritz would have died from his injuries (page 728). Rhea would have never drank the Yellow Rainbow Reverie potion, which jumpstarted her transformation into a snake as a result of being a direct descendant of Moku, the Earth Snake Guardian (page 827). Tsavo would not have been able to get a sample of the Red Rainbow Reverie potion for his research into controlling berserk Demons (page 829). If Buwaro and Sakido somehow met Iratu in St. Curtis, there are signs that it would not have gone well. Sakido used to be an elite warrior in Hell (page 90), but she left and lived as an outcast in The Ring of the Slightly Damned. When she flies toward the pillar of light to escape Hell with Buwaro and Rhea in tow, one Demon calls her a "crazy bitch" and assumes that Sakido has arrived to stop the Ascension ritual (page 90). Meanwhile, Iratu and the other antagonistic Demons are the ones doing the Ascension rituals (page 774).
...but really, there's an infinite number of ways you could tell a version of Slightly Damned where Sakido stayed alive. That's just not the story I chose to write. I planned to kill Sakido from the start. I had decided on it before the comic began. The chain of events that unfolded and the character development that followed were built with Sakido's death as part of their foundation.

Oshi no Ko Ch 158 Thoughts
This might be the worst chapter. I want to love my favorite manga. I really do. I guess we can't always have nice things
So Nino and Hikaru killed Ryosuke. I assume that's meant literally and not talking him into suicide. Well, okay, but it's a lot more powerful for Ryosuke to have taken his life out of guilt and despair
Akane is doing something in Miyazaki. She finally has plot relevance again. It probably won't last long
Now to the main event. What is the point of Ruby getting knifed besides shock value? Ai's death was a catalyst for the plot and a statement on toxic fandom/obsession, expectations of purity, and how (subtextually) Ichigo's and (textually) her mother's neglect led to a lack of awareness about her safety: "they didn't teach us [to use door chains] in the children's home." Most importantly, Ai realized she loved her kids
Ruby's stabbing says what, exactly? If this was well-written, I could see it being narratively satisfying to go full circle
However, we have seen Ruby experience very little of the above except for the kind of ham-fisted monologue she gives about the impermanence of idols (i.e. expectations of youth and beauty)
Which is an odd speech because it propositions Ai as a shining jewel immortalized by being brutally murdered. Huh? If that was framed as incredibly dark it might work, but it isn't
Of course this is about obsession and idolization, but that's already well-established in better ways
The parallels between Ruby and Ai seem forced and it's all mixed up with how Ruby is not Ai. Sure, there are similarities like the awful way their mothers treated them and her carrying Ai's genes and onstage presence
But Ruby stated in ch 137 that she wouldn't be like Ai
Tumblr media
By the way, I hate this so much. It's fine to strive not to repeat your mom's mistakes, but how about some recognition of why Ai was like that
And what the hell is with ch 147's "I'll become an idol that surpasses my mom." That was never Ruby's goal. She wanted to fulfill Ai's wishes (she didn't really understand Ai's wishes, but anyway) and live the life she dreamed of as Sarina
Perhaps Ruby was stabbed so Aqua can save her and free himself from guilt. Except I thought Aqua was already at that point since his inner monologue in ch 150. Plus, saving his sister =/= his guilt about Ai
AND WHAT HAS BEEN DONE TO MY GIRL NINO. I half-joked before that I was eating up the toxic yuri and I am, sort of, because yuri is my jam, even psycho lesbian yuri
But Nino been reduced to a paper thin villain. In the side story 45510, Nino was a complex character
In the chapter where she met Ruby, we also saw some of that in terms of her regret for treating Ai poorly
Now she's a joke. Would the Nino of 45510 stab the daughter of her obsession? I dunno, maybe, but how about a little internal conflict over that. How about anything that doesn't reduce her to a one dimensional villain whose only thought is Ai being the best idol
I've spilled too many words already so I'll just briefly mention Kana's graduation concert being all about Ruby. The story seemed to be leaning towards some Kana centric chapters what with her confession to Aqua and her graduation, but I guess not
Oh, and what the hell is this art. Compare:
Tumblr media
Mengo phoned this in. Look at the right panel: the flowers, the way Ai's hair is all over the place, the more natural pose, the details of her billowing dress, even the knife looks more natural. It's brilliant. The Ruby panel looks like a cheap knockoff
I don't care if this is not real, it should look impactful
And if it a fake out, that will be so, so bad
Btw Nino picking up a plain hoodie at the dollar store to imitate Ryosuke (doesn't she hate him for killing Ai? Or was she involved in that?) is hilarious
And so, Oshi no Disappointment strikes again.
On the plus side, I'm very much not well with my obsession over Ai, and her character has remained strong throughout the story. So no matter how bad things get, I'll still be a fairly happy camper at the end of the day.
Next week: This was all according to keikaku. The knife has been switched out for a rubber one. Aqua is on the sidelines filming it so that they throw Nino in jail. The fandom collectively groans.

Note
If You're still doing the Personal Birth Clinic submissions, I have one.
Name: Heather
Hair: Dyed, half blone, half brunette, mid-back length
Body: 4'10" (147 cm) 110 pounds pre-pregnancy, now 148 pounds
Eyes: light blue-ish/gray
Age:25
Personality: Shy, the type to say 'sorry' to everyone for anything
Other relevant info: Asexual, pregnant by choice with ex boyfriend who broke up after learning she's ace, is somewhat uncomfortable with being poked and prodded 'down there' but accepts it as part of the experience. Very weirded out by the feelings of arousal she gets while pushing, but says nothing about it.
As she lay on the bed, panting and moaning, Heather was watching timidly over her large bump as the clinic staff worked around her, preparing to guide her through the birth of this baby. She had been in labor for hours, but had only spoken up about this when the pain had gotten so bad, she could not hide it anymore! Heather had not wanted to trouble anyone with her labor, despite being in a clinic specialising in just that, and had apologized profusely in the waiting room when her water had broken and she had let out a squeal of pain.
Now, the half-blonde, half-brunette 25 year old was spread out on the bed of one of the birthing suites, trying not to scream in pain as the pressure mounted on her cervix. "This is a mistake!!" She thought, as the pain increased. "Getting pregnant was such a mistake!" "AAAGGGHH!" She let out fearfully, causing one of the nurses to approach between her legs and poke around her vagina gently. It was quite an uncomfortable and awkward feeling for Heather, but she accepted it, knowing that it was necessary for the birth of her baby. "8 centimeters, you're almost there!" The nurse said to her. Heather responded with a loud high pitched moan as she felt more pressure in her vagina. "Sorry..." she said softly after the pain had eased a bit. The nurse simply smiled and said, "Don't worry, honey, you are in hard labor!" "Make all the noise you want!"
"OOOH GOD THIS HURTS!" Heather screamed an hour later, as the pressure and pain had increased greatly. She was fully dilated and had been given the go ahead to push. Legs shaking, Heather pushed with a huge grunt, willing the pressure in her birth canal to move down and out. "Good girl, that's a great push!" The nurse coached, watching from between Heather's legs. As she panted, and the head already began to make its appearance, Heather felt a new sensation. It was a type of pleasure and arousal that she surely should not be feeling, and it started when she began pushing out the head. Feeling as though she would be labeled some sort of freak or weirdo, she decided not to say anything about this. "Push!" the nurse ordered, and Heather pushed. No longer crying in pain, but still panting and grunting with each push, Heather hoped the nurse would think she was just focused on pushing, considering Heather was no longer moaning in pain, and, from what she had watch about birth, she should be screaming her head off by now. However, her feeling of arousal was growing, replacing the pain she had been feeling all through labor. The head was about halfway out now, crowning, though Heather did not feel the ring of fire, or at least, it was not a burning sensation that she expected. "Oooh Goooddd" she trilled out and with another push, let out a loud moan, one of extreme arousal. The head popped out of her vagina with a splash of fluid and hung out. Heather looked at her midwife and let out a little "Sorry..." to her, but the midwife simply smiled. "Just one more push!" She responded, and Heather, though eager to get this baby out of her, also felt a bit saddened by the fact this was almost over. Her panting increasing as another wave of orgasm hit her, Heather pushed and the body emerged from her, leaving the laboring mother lying on the bed, panting in pleasure and relief, as the midwife picked up the crying baby. "It's a boy!!!"
(Your character rolled a 5 = Single baby birth)
