Physiotherapists and similar
I've had a LOT of experience with physical therapists of various types treating me for a variety of injuries over my adult life, all of which I now realise are related to my hyper-mobility (and I don't even have an extreme version). I'm putting down some of what I've learned from a patient perspective for anyone less experienced in case it helps.
Every therapist is different. Individually, they have different treatment styles and preferences for how to treat your injury. Often they'll call themselves the same thing ('physiotherapist') but the treatment you can receive is wildly different. Usually they use a combination of methods. They may emphasise physical manipulation, types of massage, dry needling, shock wave or light therapy, exercise, assisted exercise, be hands-on, or reluctant to touch a patient.
Because treatment style can vary, it helps to shop around if you sense something just isn't working for you after one or two visits. That's a difficult call when you're new to treatment, but don't keep going to someone if they're not helping you improve. The best therapists I've had have been skilled in a variety of techniques so they can adapt to try something new.
Improving depends greatly on following their advice regarding exercise or other therapeutic actions, NOT just what they do for you in the treatment room. It's unfair to say a therapist is ineffective if you've neglected to do what they say.
If they give you too many exercises, tell them. They can give you less or tell you which ones to prioritise. Better to modify what they give you than do nothing, UNLESS point 5.
If the exercises cause a flare up of your issue, then back off or stop. Check with them about it. If the issue is the therapist not investigating your issue properly in the first place or giving you poor advice, then look around for someone who will take more care with your individual issue, rather than just give you the list they always give for 'a sprained ankle' or whatever
Don't instantly disregard a form of treatment you've never heard of before. Some of the most effective physios I've had used methods that have a rational basis but take a while to fully explain, and at first sound esoteric
Pain isn't always where the problem is, so don't dismiss therapists who want to work somewhere you don't expect. The effective physio fixed my hands by treating my upper body. The ineffective one just put heat packs on my hands which felt nice, but didn't help resolve the problem.
You can say No to any treatment style you don't like.
TL/DR: Treatment styles vary so don't stay with a method that doesn't work. Assertively communicate your needs and results and shop around if necessary. But be open to something you may not have heard about so long as the therapist is reputable.
Finally, recommendations from other patients who've had good results from a therapist can be extremely helpful in any search.

Formula E first responders/medical AU.
This universe was created with @watercolor-hearts after our discussions about Nurse Max and him navigating being a Cardiophile at work, but then Jev and André as paramedics came along and soon it was a whole universe.
Read the background info and character description below 👇
André is the experienced paramedic who has a reputation of someone who is definitely skilled at his job but the origin of some of his skills are a bit shady. Most people don't want to know. He shouldn't be trusted to drive the ambulance, he can get the patients there quickly but whether they get there safely is up for interpretation. At least that's what everyone else thinks. He might take risks but he's an incredibly skilled driver. He regularly gets himself into some trouble outside of work that Jev, James and Max need to bail him out of eventually (more about them below). He is definitely fucking his colleague Jev the recently qualified paramedic, after Fio introduced them. And they're definitely exploring André's darker kinks together (including cardiophilia). He's definitely also involved with Sam, and Max's partner, James.
Jev is grumpy and survives off coffee. He enjoys driving the ambulance (on the very rare occasion that André lets him because André hates being a passenger) but is slightly less enthusiastic about treating patients because half of them mess him around and he's not paid enough to deal with their bullshit. He cares about his patients and loves it, but he doesn't stand for bullshit. Is fucking André but also physiotherapist Sam and his wife. doctor Fio.
Fio is the headstrong and independent doctor who doesn't care for people who waste her time. All she wants is the best for her patients and she won't let anyone get in her way. She become unlikely friends with André. Fio invites him to meet her boyfriend Jev when he is training to be a paramedic. Other staff joke that André is stealing her boyfriend but she knows that's not true because they share him. She cares a lot about Max because she notices he's struggling with some issues at work and offers support to help him.
André and Jev have had some flings with James, a British racing driver that André treated in secret before he was qualified when they were both living in Japan. James' anchor partner is Maximilian, a German nurse. He's the pretty boy of the hospital that constantly has female patients after him. He's socially awkward and anxious but he loves his job. He's a cardiophile (which causes some awkwardness at work of him not wanting people to know, but Fio can tell something's up). He mostly loves James' heart. This works well for James who fantasises about Maximilian in his scrubs. He's so smitten that he'd do anything to have Max take care of him in that uniform.
Sam is the physiotherapist. He's powered by coffee so he's usually jittery. He can get quite annoyed at his coworkers if they take the teasing about his height too far, but he's always sweet with the child patients who absolutely love him. He seems to make friends really easily even if he's not always liked by everyone at first. At first he hates André's guts but they end up getting on well when they meet up more regularly through Jev, quickly turning into something more.
Jake Hughes is an EMT that sometimes works alongside Jev and André on cases. He becomes a friend of Sam's when Sam picks Jev and André up after a case. He quickly gets close to Sam, he doesn't realise that he's starting to get a bit too close...
Robin is a junior doctor who is known for always being tired. No matter what time of day it is he looks about two seconds from falling asleep. Despite this, he's very caring and loves his job. He's loved by all of the geriatric patients because he reminds them of their grandchildren because he looks so young and cuddly. Because of this, he's constantly assigned the dementia patients because he's one of the only ones who can calm them down.
Nick is an anesthesiologist. He's more interested in wrapping up in a blanket and doing a crossword, as long as his patients are stable. Jake Dennis the orthopaedic surgeon is annoyed by this (also annoyed when people call him an Ortho Bro) but Nick always points out he's doing his job and he's never neglected a patient.
Nyck is a play specialist who is loved by all the children. He loves to help them get through their experiences, and he puts them at ease with his cute smile. He develops a bit of a crush on Jev but he's afraid to show it.
The hospital works closely with the coast guard on some cases, so António becomes well known to the paramedics and EMTs. He's introduced to Sam by Jev one day and then Sam tries to set him up (successfully) with Robin.
Daniel Abt is an EMT. Patients have a crush on him and he can't blame them because he has perfect hair. But everyone else likes him because whenever he's in the hospital Lucas is nicer and more tolerable. Usually when he's in the hospital he's hanging around plastic surgery, which means regular run ins with Lucas.
Lucas is the entitled surgeon who thinks he's better than absolutely everyone. He treats everyone like crap, apart from Daniel. Somehow they end up together, but Lucas doesn't take it seriously because he's "not gay." He keeps a professional demeanor with Daniel at work because he can't accept that he's not straight and doesn't want people saying something about it. It doesn't stop André talking about it though.
Sébastien is an entitled patient who thinks that he is better than everyone and deserves 100% attention all the time, so when he doesn't get what he wants he make the workers lives hell. He's the second receptionist in the police department, a big contrast to Alex (again, more on him below).
Dan is another entitled patient who thinks that the care is getting isn't good enough so he's constantly phoning the ambulance to get back into the hospital. Jev and André are sick of his shit and try to refuse to pick him up.
Sacha is the probie firefighter who is teased by the rest of the crew for looking far too young to be in his job. He's also very very sweet so people don't always see him as a firefighter, but he enjoys proving his worth. Oliver takes Sacha under his wing as soon as Sacha starts, to make sure he gets the best training. Oliver has been in the force for many years, he's incredibly committed and he's very protective. He follows the rulebook but also knows when to take a calculated risk. and he takes pride in all his team, especially seasoned firefighter Stoffel who is deceptively strong and very good at carrying people, probably because he's fueled entirely by the stash of waffles he has in the break room.
Mitch is a friend of Sam and Nick who is a police officer in the local police department. He regularly attends calls with the paramedics and EMTs, becoming an acquaintance of Jev and eventually a very close friend of Sam. Mitch is constantly flirted with on the job, and it's run him into a bit of trouble when he plays along a bit too well. It's not his fault if people have a thing for his handcuffs.
However, he mainly has a thing for the receptionist of the police department, Alex (known as the "nice one", in contrast to Sébastien). He tries his best to slip past Alex's desk as much as he can to look at Alex's face. Mitch is usually confident but Alex's beauty makes it difficult to even speak a sentence coherently. He starts with some light flirting which then graduates to properly chatting him up. Alex tries to focus on his job every time but he's absolutely smitten with Mitch. Naturally Alex is overjoyed when Mitch eventually asks him for a date. Alex would do it himself but he wants Mitch to feel like he's in control. That is until they get to the bedroom...

Healing Hearts PT. 19 | Virgil van Dijk

Would a fresh start bring you more than just a new job?
A/N: AHHH babes, we're done with the story!! Thank you all so much for taking the time to read something I put a lot of time and energy into. Hopefully this story met your expectations when you first started reading! It's going to be weird to be done with this story, but don't worry! My (VVD, other Liverpool players as well) requests are definitely open. Please don't hesitate and send me a request if you want. Again thank you so much for reading. Love you all and stay healthy! <3
W/C: 2.878
Summary: Y/N L/N is a very skilled and praised physiotherapist. A certain event pushing her for a fresh start, as a physiotherapist for Liverpool FC. One question always being in the back of her mind: Will she be able to let go of her past and allow herself to experience new things?

"It is weird, especially since we worked together for three almost four years on the same team." I say, my arms crossed in front of me as I talk to Ten Hag.
He'd pulled me aside after the match, hugging me warmly after noticing me walk back from the team's changing room.
Liverpool had just drawn against Manchester United, a underwhelming game after all of us had grown confidence about winning easily. That was the thing about football, it could go any way- no matter how much you train and prepare.
"We could work together again, if you accept my offer." He says, placing his hand on my shoulder.
I laugh, raising my brows at the sudden comment.
"You know my salary has gotten much higher than when I was at Ajax!" I joke, smile on my face as he laughs.
I could only decline his offer with a joke. In the past when I got a job offer by a rival team than of the one I worked for I didn't really care about the rivalry. It was just work to me. Yes, of course I grew close to players and staff, but it wasn't a factor which I let affect my career choices.
But Liverpool FC was different, nothing close to the bonds I formed in my former work environments. It was a community, a family even. The relationships I had with the players and staff were incomparable to what I had experienced in the past. Adding to this, I didn't really like the vibe the team gave, especially certain players.
So joining a rival team- Manchester United was definitely a 'no' for me.
"If it's you and your expertise- I could easily make sure you'd join our physio team and be paid handsomely."
"Very flattering, but I think-especially now, I'm very happy with my choice."
"Stubborn as always, makes me remember when you insisted the injury time of players could be shortened if we went by your methods."
"I was right every single time though!"
"That's why I'm not going to push this any further. I'm sure you have a good reason."
I feel a sudden presence behind me, turning my head to meet Virgil who had just walked out of the press corner. His expression looking a bit irritated.
"There's our Dutch captain!" Ten Hag exclaims, the men giving each other a handshake and hug.
"Needed to hear what you're convincing my girlfriend to do." He jokes, pearly teeth showing as he smiles.
"Right, my wife told me about you two, you two fit together very well." He compliments, pointing to us.
"Oh how's Bianca? I miss gossiping with her." I say, asking about his wife.
"She's alright, adjusting to life in Manchester still. You know those two didn't stop talking from the second they saw each other until they left each others side." He says to Virgil.
"Being a baby physio was boring at times!" I shrug, defending myself. Feeling Virgil's arms wrap around my shoulder as he chuckles.
The conversation ends a couple minutes later, Virgil and me getting in my car.
"What did he talk to you about?" He asks as I start the car.
"Old times, tried to convince me to join his team." I laugh, grinning at the thought.
"Oh really?"
"Yeah, but I denied. I don't like some of their players- give me weird vibes." I say, glancing at his confused expression.
"You know who I'm talking about, the punchable looking one, he looks like a super villain." I add, focusing on the road.
"The one with the abuse allegations- Antony, like why haven't they thrown the fucker out yet?" I say, voicing my dislike as my grip on the steering wheel gets tighter.
"Isn't a very easy process, but it's definitely overdue." He says, his hand on my thigh as if to calm me down.
"Exactly.."

I reread my sleepily written e-mail to my lawyer for the hundredth time it feels like. Adding a comma here and there as I feel like my screen is fogging and blurring up. I had finally requested a restraining order against the man who broke into my home, the police finally starting to finalize the charges against him at my request.
He'd thankfully confessed about being ordered by Theo to break in. For now, I could only get a restraining order against the intruder, as getting one for Theo wasn't actually possible due to us living in different countries. I was satisfied as long as he could be charged in any way possible. Then I could finally be at peace.
I finally press the 'send' button, sighing as I lean my head back against the bus seat. Alerting Virgil of my annoyance. We'd been returning from the match against Burnley, the last before some time off until the new year.
He grabs my phone out of my hand, shaking his head at my protest. His hand coming to rest on my jaw, and I look at him, trying to make out his expression in the dim lights of the bus.
"Sleep, you've been up since six this morning. It's like nine thirty." He whispered, taking note of the fact that half of the players had already passed out. Journeys on the bus made everyone sleepy, whether it was being tired after an intense match, or the fact that the bus rocked just enough to make you fall asleep.
I feel him guide my head onto his shoulder, his arms wrapping around me as a content sigh leaves his lips. I don't protest, letting my body relax as my eyes grow heavy. Fatigue washing over me as I slip into a peaceful sleep. The last I remember being the feeling of soft kisses on the top of my head.
I’m nudged awake maybe an hour or two later, feeling confused and disoriented as I open my eyes. I'm not in the team bus anymore, but in Virgil's car. My eyes darting around to see that we were parked the driveway of his home.
"What? Where- how did I get here?" I ask, my eyes moving from Virgil's form to the windows. Rubbing my eyes tiredly, not even caring about smudging all my mascara anymore. Probably because it was already smudged.
"I carried you out of the bus into my car, your bag is in the backseat." He says nonchalantly, shrugging as he pulls the keys out of the ignition.
"Seriously? You couldn't wake me up? Instead, you put on a show?" I ask, closing my eyes as I cringe, imaging the situation.
"You sleep like the dead my love." He says, leaning forward to plant a kiss on my forehead before stepping out of the car. I sigh, unbuckling myself before I watch him open my door. Then he goes to collect our bags from the backseat.
"Come on, let's go inside." He ushers, making me step out of the car. I follow him, punching in his code before we both step into the home. I immediately make a beeline to the sofa, throwing myself onto it. A sigh leaving my mouth as I shift to get comfortable, grabbing the cushions to rest my head on them.
"Hey, get up if you sleep again you'll stay awake all night. Your sleep schedule is going get messed up." Virgil says, coming to shake me awake, making me groan in protest.
"I'm just resting my eyes.." I mumble, knowing damn well I'd already be fully asleep if he didn't shake me.
"That's what you say every time, then you fall asleep." He accuses, making me sit up straight.
"Did you pack your suitcase already?" He adds, sitting next to me.
"Of course- but say, do you have any space left in your suitcase?" I ask, my eyes snapping open.
"I do, why? Is yours full- did you exceed the weight limit? We have like 32 kilograms of allowance, are you serious?" He asks, looking at me shocked.
"You see, heels are pretty heavy and you definitely won't bring 32 kilograms right?" I begin, grinning sheepishly at him before he grabs me, shaking me playfully.
"Alright, you can give me some of your stuff."

"Is this good? You don't want it to be too tight on your head." Virgil asks, his hands adjusting the buckle of my pink helmet as I hold his gloves in my hand and support both of the snowboards with my arm.
I raise my hand, fidgeting with the buckle myself, before look at him with a smile.
"Feels alright, here." I say, handing him the gloves. Watching him put them on, my eyes flickering over the white piste. Since we'd wrapped up the last game of 2023, and finished top of the table. The both of us decided to go on a little ski resort trip in eastern France.
"Ready?" He asks, looking at me as he grabs his board.
I nod, starting to follow him.
"Will you help me get up when I fall?"
He looks at me, my reflection starting back at me through his goggles.
"I thought you were a pro?" He asks, showing me his heart-throbbing smile.
"I have experience but not a pro. Last time I skied or snowboarded- I was like twenty-two." I defended myself, jogging slightly to catch up with him.
He hums, starting to look ahead as we walk up to the ski lift.
"Hey, staying close to me will also minimize your change of getting injured." I add.
"Why? Are you the injury prevention whisperer?"
"No, but I can heal them.."

"I can still feel my legs burn. I forgot how much it hurts.." I complain, jumping into the hotel room bed after showering and pulling the blanket on my body. At least dinner was insanely delicious.
"I'm actually freezing." I say, the iron supplements I was prescribed didn't work at all. Definitely because, when I took them in the morning, I'd throw them up an hour later. I had to revisit the doctor for a lower dosage when we got back.
"Getting in bed already?" Virgil asks, turning on the heating before walking up to me.
I yawn as if on cue, lying on my stomach as I feel the bed dip, making me shift towards him. Bringing my hand up to the side of his face. I caress his cheekbone, my cheek squished against the fluffy pillow.
"You had fun right?" He asks, pulling me closer.
"I did, well after the third time I fell on my ass.." I joke, soft chuckle leaving my lips as I trace the top of his lips with my thumb.
"You'll like it more tomorrow, since you got used to the feeling again." He replies, the collar of shirt moving as he shifts, revealing his collarbone.
I don't respond, my thumb hovering over his lip as my eyes flicker to his, the silence of the night surrounding us.
My heart thumps in my chest, eyes roaming on his features as my palm rests on his jaw.
"You know babe-" he begins, making me return my attention back to eyes. Raising my eyebrows slightly as if to urge him to continue.
"-everything you said could be understood as an innuendo."
My face forms to that of disbelief, recalling my words before groaning in annoyance.
"Why- would you ruin the moment like this?" I exclaim, honestly trying hard to contain a laugh, starting to get up, trying to remove my hand off his jaw, but he grabs my wrist again.
He pulls me closer my chest hitting his, placing my hand back on his jaw, peppering soft kisses on my palm as he murmurs soft apologies.
"I had to say it." He chuckles, his hand still holding onto my wrist. His chest vibrating against mine.
A sudden blasting of my ringtone makes me jump slightly, a gasp leaving my lips as my eyes widen.
"Scared the crap out of me.."
I try to get up, remembering I left it on the sofa, but I'm pulled back again. My wrist still in his hold, though not being painful.
"Stay, get it later.." He whispers lowly, voice deeper as he stares it my eyes. I lower my hand, tracing his jawline, hearing him take in a rushed breath. I ghost my fingers on his skin, trailing my hand down to his collarbone before tracing it.
His grip suddenly returns to my wrist, guiding my hand onto his chest, right on top of his heart. The quick heartbeat thumping underneath my palm.
"You're making it hard to resist- you know that?"

"Open the link I sent you? Right now!" Jul shouts through my phone speaker, making me frown in curiosity as I click the link. It taking me to a news article.
"Dutch Billionaire family caught in fraud and embezzlement scheme."
"What the fuck!" I exclaim, my eyes roaming around the article to understand what had happened. Freezing as I see a picture of Theo handcuffed as multiple police officers escort him.
I feel a sudden rush of adrenaline flow through me. I sit up straight from the sofa, unfolding my legs. Blinking at the screen in front of me.
This is was all I needed.
"Would laughing at this be inappropriate?" I ask Jul, switching to FaceTime again as a laugh threatens to fall from my lip.
"Laugh all you want girl, this is the karma you wished for."

"If I was back home in The Netherlands I'd be lighting fireworks with the teenagers of my neighborhood." I laugh, taking a sip of my drink.
It was New Year's Eve, Virgil and me going out to celebrate with the other teammates. Monet and her boyfriend also flying over to celebrate with us. We weren't drinking at all. Or at least Virgil and the rest of the players. Me deciding to not drink for moral support. Drinking did not bring the fun, however company did and it was great. Besides, the ice-cold virgin mojito with Red Bull I was drinking was enough to keep me up all night.
I feel Virgil's hold on my waist tighten, his lips on my shoulder as we both sway to the music in the club.
"This is better though.."
I remove his hands from my waist, turning and facing him as I wrap my arms around his neck instead.
"You know, new years isn't usually a happy time for me. I used to get so sad when the clock ticked twelve, like it made me emotional. I regretted every single thing I did that year. But this time it feels different.." I confess, running my fingers up and down his nape as he kisses my cheek.
"In a good way?" He asks, his thumb holding up my chin.
"Yeah, I feel good. I think I'm finally feeling positive of the year I had. It was definitely rough at times, and you've been amazing support, but I think the changes I've made lead me to the best outcome of my life."
"That is?"
"Moving here, to Liverpool. Joining the club, meeting you.."
"Yeah, I'm a part of that 'best outcome'?"
"Of course you are. I've never said it directly, but you've been the best companion I've made this year. So really, thank you for everything..." I continue, the sweet words falling off my tongue in a delicate manner.
I watch a smug expression form on his face, but his brown eyes are sweet, like dark molasses.
"Could say the exact same thing about you my love. You've been the best doctor, lover and support. Everything I could have ever dreamed of. You're amazing in every single way, I can't even begin to count all the times you've motivated to keep me going." He tells me, his other hand on the small of my back as he leans in to kiss me.
"So sweet." I mumble in between kisses, pulling him closer by his collar. The sudden shout of everybody starting to count from ten making me pull away as I admire the lights flashing. I grab onto Virgil's bigger hand, squeezing it as we all start counting down.
"Five!"
"Four!"
"Three!"
"Two!"
"One!"
I hold my breath for a moment, feeling Virgil's hand on my jaw as he pulls me in. Our lips crashing together, the cheering of "happy new year!" loud and clear as our eyes flutter shut. The taste addicting as I reach up to hold onto his bicep. We get lost in the moment, not even pulling away to breathe as we lose ourselves in the sensation.
"Happy New Year, my love."
No, this would be my fresh start.

Why Multispeciality Hospitals Are the Best Choice for Complex Surgeries
When it comes to complex surgeries, choosing the right hospital is crucial. A successful procedure depends not just on the skill of the surgeon but also on the overall medical support available. That’s where multispeciality hospitals stand out. If you are looking for the best multispeciality hospital in Vadodara, then you should select the one offers advanced technology, experienced specialists, and seamless care.
1. Access to Multiple Specialities Under One Roof
One of the biggest advantages of a multispeciality hospital is the presence of experts from different medical fields. Complex surgeries often require teamwork. For example, a heart surgery might involve input from a cardiologist, an anaesthetist, and an intensive care specialist. Similarly, a cancer operation could involve an oncologist, a radiologist, and a plastic surgeon for reconstruction.
In a multispeciality hospital, all these specialists are available in one place, making consultations and coordinated treatment much easier. This reduces delays and improves the overall success of the surgery.
2. Advanced Technology and Equipment
Complex surgeries require cutting-edge technology. From high-precision robotic surgery to minimally invasive techniques, the right tools significantly improve surgical outcomes.
Multispeciality hospitals invest heavily in modern medical equipment. They have state-of-the-art operating rooms, imaging facilities for MRI and CT scans, and advanced monitoring systems, which ensure that every surgery is performed with the highest level of accuracy and safety.
3. Round-the-Clock Emergency and Critical Care
Surgeries come with risks, and complications can arise even in the best conditions. This is why having a well-equipped emergency and critical care unit is essential.
Multispeciality hospitals have ICUs with advanced life-support systems, highly trained critical care doctors, and 24/7 emergency teams. This means that if any complications occur during or after surgery, help is available immediately. Quick response times can be life-saving, especially in critical cases like brain surgery or organ transplants.
4. Better Post-Surgery Care and Rehabilitation
A successful surgery doesn’t end in the operating theatre. Post-operative care plays a huge role in recovery.
In a multispeciality hospital, you have access to physiotherapists, nutritionists, and pain management experts who work together to help you heal faster. Whether you’re learning to walk again after orthopaedic surgery or managing your diet after bariatric surgery, a team of specialists ensures a smooth recovery.
5. Reduced Risk of Infections
Infections are a major concern after surgery. Unlike smaller hospitals or standalone clinics, multispeciality hospitals follow strict infection control protocols. They have dedicated sterile zones, advanced air filtration systems, and well-trained staff who follow stringent hygiene practices.
This reduces the chances of post-surgical infections, ensuring a safer and faster healing process.
Conclusion
When facing a complex surgery, choosing the right hospital can make all the difference. A multispeciality hospital offers a team of experts, the latest technology, advanced emergency care, and seamless coordination, all under one roof. This makes the entire treatment process smoother, safer, and more effective.
If you or a loved one needs surgery, consider the best multispeciality hospital in Vadodara for high-quality care and successful recovery. After all, when it comes to health, nothing should be left to chance.

Thomas about the pre-season preparation and his rehabilitation
The cards are always shuffled a bit for the new season. That's why the preparation phase is not only very important for the team, but everyone has to prove themselves individually. As a player, you also watch the transfer market with half an eye. So it's always exciting to see which positions are transferred.
It is also clear to the players that, after last year's disappointing season, the entire squad is being put to the test. And that is why we are experiencing a dynamic and exciting preseason.
Boot camp: exploring boundaries and team building
We held our first training camp at the beautiful Tegernsee. As a team, we always look forward to intensive time together. But we also have a bit of respect for the occasional running session.
Here, training stimuli are deliberately set and limits are tested. Often one or the other limit is also pushed beyond. The aim is to prepare the body for the stresses and strains of the season and to regularly overcome one's own inner weakness. It is also a training of willpower, so to speak.
Apart from the football part, I especially enjoyed a team building activity in nature. We had to overcome several challenges in small teams, with skill and intelligence.
For example, there was a task where we had to stack as many crates of beer as possible on top of each other. One of us always stood on top of the stack and the others secured it and moved on to the next crate. This may sound familiar to you from "Schlag den Raab" (A german television game show)
Afterwards we had a barbecue together. It was a fruitful afternoon and evening that suited us very well as a team.
Foundation stone for a season free of complaints
For me, unfortunately, it was over again after 3 days of training camp. In consultation with the coach and the medical department, I had to shift down a gear. This year, for the first time in my career, it didn't work to start right away with the preparation.
In April and May I already had to deal with a similar problem. Unfortunately, now it has arisen again. That's why it's important to take it easy now and get rid of the irritation. Then I will be able to attack again without complaints.
The rehabilitation measures have worked well so far, so, as always, I'm confident. Of course, it's not easy for someone like me to stand still and just watch when the guys are already playing their first games on the Asian tour. But that's where my many years of professional experience will have to help me now 😅.
However, my rehabilitation does not consist of lying on the couch. Rather, I do very specific physical training. Here we find out better each day which part of the musculature we focus on in particular to get the right load and relief.
I feel that I am in excellent care and in the best hands with our FC Bayern medical team and physiotherapist.

The Role of Physiotherapy in TMJ Disorder
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder can cause significant pain and discomfort in the jaw joint and surrounding muscles. While there are various treatment options available, physiotherapy has emerged as a valuable approach to managing TMJ disorders. In Pune, individuals dealing with TMJ issues can find relief and support from qualified physiotherapists who specialize in treating this condition.
Understanding TMJ Disorder:
TMJ disorder refers to a range of conditions affecting the temporomandibular joint, which connects the jawbone to the skull. Symptoms may include jaw pain, difficulty chewing or opening the mouth, clicking or popping sounds, headaches, and facial discomfort. Physiotherapy plays a crucial role in addressing these symptoms by focusing on pain reduction, improving jaw function, and promoting overall well-being.
The Role of Physiotherapy:
Physiotherapy offers a holistic and non-invasive approach to treating TMJ disorder. A physiotherapist in Pune will begin by conducting a comprehensive evaluation to understand the underlying causes and assess the severity of your condition. They will then develop a personalized treatment plan to address your specific needs.
Treatment Techniques:
Physiotherapy for TMJ disorder utilizes various techniques that aim to reduce pain, improve jaw mobility, and restore normal function. These may include:
1. Jaw exercises: The physiotherapist will prescribe specific exercises to strengthen and stretch the muscles around the jaw joint, promoting improved jaw movement and reducing muscle tension.
2. Manual therapy: Hands-on techniques, such as joint mobilization and soft tissue manipulation, can help increase joint mobility, alleviate pain, and release muscle tension.
3. Heat or cold therapy: The application of heat or cold packs to the jaw area can reduce pain, inflammation, and muscle spasm.
4. Ultrasound therapy: Ultrasound waves can penetrate deep into the tissues, promoting healing, improving blood flow, and reducing pain and inflammation.
5. Electrical stimulation: Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) involves the use of low-level electrical currents to relieve pain and relax muscles.
6. Posture correction: Correcting poor posture can alleviate strain on the jaw joint. Physiotherapists in Pune can provide guidance on proper head and neck alignment and ergonomic modifications.
7. Education and self-care: Physiotherapists will educate you about proper jaw mechanics, relaxation techniques, and self-care strategies, empowering you to manage your TMJ symptoms effectively.
Finding Relief:
If you're experiencing TMJ disorder, seeking the expertise of a qualified physiotherapist is essential. Look for physiotherapy clinics or practitioners who specialize in TMJ disorders. They will have the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to provide a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs, helping you find relief and regain a pain-free quality of life.

How Long Does It Take to Walk After Spine Surgery?
Spine surgery can be a life-changing procedure for individuals struggling with chronic back pain, disc issues, or spinal injuries. While the thought of undergoing spine surgery may seem daunting, modern advancements have made recovery much quicker and more manageable than ever before. One of the most common questions patients ask is: How long will it take before I can walk again? Let’s explore the recovery timeline and what you can expect after spine surgery in Indore.
Understanding Spine Surgery Recovery
The time it takes to walk after spine surgery depends on several factors, including the type of surgery performed, the patient’s overall health, and the skill of the surgeon. Common types of spine surgery include:
Discectomy
Laminectomy
Spinal fusion
Microdiscectomy
Each procedure has its own recovery timeline, but walking is typically encouraged shortly after surgery, often within the first 24 hours under supervision.
When Can You Start Walking Again
The First 24 to 48 Hours
In many cases, patients are encouraged to get up and walk with assistance on the same day or the next day after surgery. This early mobilization helps prevent complications such as blood clots and supports faster healing. If you undergo spine surgery in Indore, especially at a reputed hospital with the neurosurgeon, you can expect to receive guidance from an expert team of physiotherapists and caregivers to assist in your first steps.
1 to 2 Weeks Post-Surgery
During the first two weeks, walking becomes more comfortable, although it may still be limited in duration and frequency. You will likely need to avoid bending, lifting, or twisting. Walking short distances several times a day is usually recommended.
1 Month and Beyond
By the end of the first month, many patients can walk more freely, return to light daily activities, and even start physical therapy if recommended. Full recovery, where you can walk long distances or return to physically demanding work, may take a few months, depending on the complexity of the surgery.
Factors That Influence Recovery Time
Type of surgery performed
Patient’s age and overall health
Presence of any pre existing conditions
Adherence to post-operative care and physical therapy
Skill and experience of the neurosurgeon
Choosing the best neurosurgeon in Indore plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth and quick recovery. An experienced surgeon not only minimizes surgical risks but also develops a personalized recovery plan tailored to your needs.
Tips for a Smoother Walking Recovery
Follow all post-operative instructions carefully
Attend all follow-up appointments
Engage in physical therapy as prescribed
Eat a nutritious diet to support healing
Stay positive and patient, healing takes time
Walking after spine surgery is not only possible, it’s encouraged. Most patients begin taking steps within a day or two post-surgery, with gradual improvements over the following weeks.

Discovering the Best Hospital in Greater Noida: What to Look for in World-Class Healthcare
Finding quality healthcare has become a top priority for individuals and families alike. When you or a loved one is unwell, the hospital you choose can make all the difference in recovery outcomes. As one of the rapidly growing urban hubs in the Delhi-NCR region, Greater Noida has seen a significant rise in healthcare facilities over the years. Yet, the question remains — which one is the best hospital in Greater Noida?
The answer depends on multiple factors such as medical expertise, technology, infrastructure, patient care, and specialized services. Let’s explore what makes a hospital truly outstanding and how you can identify the best option for yourself or your family.
Comprehensive Medical Services Under One Roof
One of the first criteria for selecting the best hospital in Greater Noida is the range of medical services it offers. From emergency care and diagnostics to surgery and rehabilitation, a top-tier hospital should provide a wide spectrum of treatments across various specialties such as:
Cardiology
Orthopedics
Neurology
Pediatrics
Gynecology
Oncology
Nephrology
Gastroenterology
Internal Medicine
Hospitals with super-speciality departments can provide more accurate diagnoses and advanced treatments for complex conditions, reducing the need to travel elsewhere for care.
Experienced Doctors and Skilled Medical Staff
Even the most advanced hospital infrastructure means little without qualified doctors and compassionate medical staff. The best hospitals typically employ board-certified specialists with years of experience in their respective fields. Additionally, skilled nurses, physiotherapists, lab technicians, and support staff contribute to a smooth and efficient patient experience.
Before choosing a hospital, look for reviews, patient testimonials, and professional credentials of the medical team. Many top hospitals also participate in continuing medical education and adopt international standards of clinical practice.
Emergency and Trauma Care Readiness
Medical emergencies can strike at any time, and a hospital’s ability to respond swiftly can be a matter of life and death. The best hospital in Greater Noida should have a fully-equipped emergency department with round-the-clock availability of critical care doctors, anesthetists, nurses, ambulances, and life-saving equipment like defibrillators, ventilators, and crash carts.
Timely intervention during strokes, heart attacks, accidents, or respiratory distress often determines survival and long-term health outcomes.
Modern Infrastructure and Advanced Technology
In today’s digital age, a modern hospital is expected to incorporate the latest medical technologies to enhance diagnosis, surgical precision, and patient safety. Key technological features include:
MRI, CT, and digital X-ray imaging
Robotic-assisted surgery
Modular operation theatres
Laparoscopic and endoscopic equipment
ICU monitoring systems
Electronic Health Records (EHRs)
These advancements help ensure more accurate treatment plans, shorter hospital stays, and quicker recovery times.
Hygiene, Comfort, and Patient Experience
Hygiene is non-negotiable in healthcare. A clean, sanitized environment significantly reduces the risk of hospital-acquired infections. Look for hospitals that maintain strict protocols for cleanliness and waste disposal.
Moreover, patient comfort matters. Spacious waiting areas, private rooms, clear communication from staff, and availability of cafeteria and pharmacy services enhance the overall experience for patients and caregivers alike.
Insurance, Affordability & Transparency
Healthcare can be expensive, but the best hospital in Greater Noida will prioritize transparency in billing and offer affordable packages for various treatments. Many reputed hospitals are empaneled with major insurance providers, CGHS, and government schemes like Ayushman Bharat to ease the financial burden on patients.
Before admission, it's essential to ask for cost estimates, available insurance coverage, and breakdowns of services included in the treatment plan.
Accessibility and Location
The location of the hospital plays a crucial role, especially during emergencies. A conveniently located hospital in Greater Noida, close to main roads and residential areas, makes it easier for patients to reach in time. Availability of ambulance services and ample parking further add to the convenience.
Patient Feedback and Hospital Reputation
Online reviews, word-of-mouth feedback, and independent ratings can provide useful insights into a hospital’s service quality. A consistent record of positive patient experiences, successful treatments, and ethical practices is often a strong indicator of reliability and excellence.
Some hospitals are also accredited by national or international bodies like NABH (National Accreditation Board for Hospitals) or JCI (Joint Commission International), which certifies adherence to high standards of care.

Healing Hearts PT.9 | Virgil van Dijk

Would a fresh start bring you more than just a new job?
A/N: Hi loves! Sorry for the late post. I’ve been studying for exams I have this week and the next week and it’s been insanely time consuming. That’s also why I’m choosing to take a two week break from writing, I hope you guys will understand. Don’t worry, I promise I’ll be back with a banger. For now, enjoy this chapter <3
WC: 4.326
Summary: Y/N L/N is a very skilled and praised physiotherapist. A certain event pushing her for a fresh start, as a physiotherapist for Liverpool FC. One question always being in the back of her mind: Will she be able to let go of her past and allow herself to experience new things?

I let go of the steering wheel as I arrive at the terminal, half slumping over it due to how tired I am. Rubbing my eyes lightly to not smudge my mascara, even though I knew that the moment I sat down in the plane I would be out cold and my make up would be smeared. Thankfully, I could use all my energy on driving carefully and properly.
I groan, cursing the scheduling staff for planning a flight with the team at seven in the morning. The match against LASK would take place tomorrow evening, so why the rush?
I grab my small suitcase filled with all the essentials I would need over the course of the next two days. I throw my handbag over my shoulder, actively trying to avoid the September sun, beaming into my tired eyes while locking my car.
I turn around walking towards the small private plane terminal. The wind had picked up since I left my home, making me feel like my suitcase weighed a million pounds. I place my hand above my eyes, looking down at the floor as I continue walking.
"Lookin' tired doctor."
I turn around abruptly, eyes meeting a cheery Robbo.
"Hm slept way too little." I respond, zero energy in my voice. He walks up next to me, a comforting smile on his face while he pats my shoulder.
"Sleep on the plane. Four hours should be good enough doctor."
"That was exactly my plan." I mumble a small smile cracking on my face, continuing to walk beside him. Pulling my suitcase behind me.
It had been about a week since the guys had come back from international duty. The away game against Wolves last Saturday was an amazing way to start again, with a 3-1 for Liverpool.
I had totally been busy with injuries lately, working on the recoveries and planning that came with them. Ibou could start tomorrows game thankfully. I still had to work with Trent on his injury, but I had full faith in his recovery.
Things between me and Virgil had been- normal. He'd joined the team on the away game, showing support to the guys even when he was suspended.
Thinking about that £100.000 fine he had received had me sweating just at the thought of having to pay. Expensive things and prices weren't that foreign to me, but having to spend that amount on a fine had me shocked. I had teased him about it, telling him he could abstain from buying a new super car that week. He had given me an annoyed look, as he continued to run faster on the treadmill during one of our appointments. I had never laughed at him that hard before.
He had brought up our conversation in his car after the appointment, urging me to not keep problems to myself again. I had waved him off with a smile, telling him I'd be fine. Truly, I hadn't lied. Everything had been going fine so far, no calls and no messages from him. I had just been living my life as normal as possible.
The week without Virgil had been a busy one, me being fully engrossed with work and everything. Both the paperwork and recovery of Trent and Ibou consuming most of my time.
The messages from Virgil were the only thing keeping me sane as I worked from morning to the evening. I couldn't lie, going to bed after reading a sweet goodnight message was something I really missed experiencing. That week had blessed me with the best sleep I'd ever gotten since I had moved to Liverpool.
We walk into the terminal, seeing all the familiar faces making me realize I had to actually socialize, instead of trying to sleep standing upright. We both walk through security quickly, being done within a couple minutes.
"I'm sitting." I mumble quickly to Robbo. I greet the people I walk past curtly, making my way over to the lounge, walking up to the very comfy looking seat.
I plop down, head down as I lean back into the chair. My handbag placed, on my lap. I close my eyes, sighing to my self at the peaceful feeling. Though sadly, that peace is broken by a hand tapping my arm lightly. I open my eyes, ready to yell at the person, but my mood changes as I am greeted by a hand holding out a warm cup of coffee. My eyes trail up the arm of the person, tired eyes meeting with Virgil's.
"Oh it's you." I mumble, squinting slightly due to the sun beaming through the glass panels. "Yes it's me. Disappointed?" He replies, a small smile on his lips.
"Very disappointed." I tease my voice tired, arms folded on my chest as I shake my head at him. He raises a brow, clicking his tongue before pulling the cup of coffee away from me.
"See, I saw you that looked tired and got you some coffee, but since you're disappointed by seeing me-" I chuckle at him, extending my hand to grab the cup of hot brown liquid. "I'm kidding, of course I'm happy to see you." I tease, taking a sip of the coffee. He sighs, looking at me with an annoyed but amused look.
He takes a seat beside me, as I sip on the coffee. The caffeine is either going to keep me up or give me the worse headache known to mankind in the next hour. I slump back in my chair, feet off the ground as I sway them a little.
"Why are you acting like you barely slept?" He asks, leaning closer. I lift my arm, putting it above my eyes in a comforting way. "Cause I barely slept like five hours." I mumble, a soft huff leaving my lips.
"Why? You were off pretty early yesterday."
"You'll either call me an idiot or laugh." I sigh before continuing. "I woke up in the middle of the night after dreaming- well having a nightmare about losing my passport." I explain, arm still placed on my head. "So- I woke up panicking. I immediately started looking for my actual passport and couldn't find it. Which lead me to turn my entire apartment upside down and a panic attack until I realized I had placed it into my handbag." I pull my passport out of my handbag, waving it at him. He doesn't spare a second before he's laughing as loud as he can, way too loud this early in the morning.
"You're serious?"
"Dead serious." I grumble, a little embarrassed at the attention he's drawing. "Stop laughing- you're making my head hurt." I mumble.
He clears his throat before turning to me again. I lift my arm and look at him, seeing the most beautiful smile on his face. My eyes travel down to his tatted arms, getting practically lost in the pretty designs.
He opens his mouth to say something, but he's stopped by the announcement of us being allowed to board. I groan, squeezing my eyes fully shut for a moment before standing up along with Virgil. He pulls his training fleece on, following me out.

The overly tired girl stands up, grabbing her handbag as Virgil walks alongside her. He observes her slumped and tired looking frame, feeling a slight thump in his heart. He didn't like seeing her mood so down.
He reaches out to her and grabs her handbag, her head moving to the side and up to look at what he's doing. His hand now clinging onto her handbag.
"Let me hold it- looks heavy." He mumbles, his hand coming to rest in between her shoulder blades in a comforting manner. She doesn't react, exhausted and slightly slumped forward as she practically lets him guide her towards the plane.
Both are unaware of the gossiping and teasing looks exchanged in between the other Liverpool players.
The cold winds blow past them, making them slow their pace significantly before stepping into the plane and taking their seat, next to each other. She slides into the window seat, head already slumped against the soft cushion of the luxurious seat. He sits down after putting his belongings up, her handbag placed on the small table-like space in between their seats.
They take off a while later, but Virgil taps her shoulder, taking her out of her tired trance.
"Hm? What's wrong?" She asks, turning slightly to face him. "Here, drink this and go to sleep." He says, handing her a bottle of water. She raises a brow, grabbing the bottle and taking a few gulps.
"I don't know if I want to sleep now." She mumbles, standing up to remove her phone from her back pocket. "Why? You still look tired."
"Yeah but-" she begins looking into his brown eyes. "Do we have wet wipes on the plane?" He looks at her confused, wondering why she'd need them. "I'll be back." she says. Walking away as he's looking back at her confused.
She walks back not even a minute later, wet wipes in her hand as she sinks back into her seat. She starts wiping off the make up that was quickly applied that morning.
"You're wiping your make up off to go to sleep?" He asks, looking at her intently. "Yeah, these white seats won't look pretty nor will my face." She jokes, running the wipe along her cheeks. Carefully removing the last of her eye make up before turning to him. "Can you look if all the mascara is gone?" She asks, moving her face close, so he can see.
Virgil stares at her, taking in the beauty of her bare face, realizing he'd never seen her without make up before, this time she was fully bare faced. "The make up? Yes, I think it's all gone." He replies, a breathlessness in his normally deep voice.
She smiles, moving back to sit in her seat comfortably. "Thank you for checking." She discards the used wipes. She can feel her head staring to hurt and places her head back on the soft cushion, a yawn leaving her lips as her eyes become droopy, her exhaustion taking over and pulling her into a slumber. Soft snores making it obvious she was in need of a nap.
The athlete notices the snores, chuckling at the physio sleeping peacefully next him. Staring at her for a moment, tracing her beautiful features with his eyes.
He notices her shiver, and tugs his training fleece off, leaving him in his T-shirt and draping it on her sleeping figure.
He notices his teammates loud banter from across the aisle, hearing them joke loudly brings a smile to his face. He glances back at y/n, noticing her stirring, half awake. He reaches out, placing a hand on her arm and trying to calm her down.
"It's just the guys, go back to sleep hm?" He whispers tenderly, and her eyes close again. He watches her fall back into a slumber, and returns to watching his show he had selected earlier. He'd send a glare to the younger guys when they'd get too rowdy, telling them to calm down just incase they'd wake their physio up. Glancing at her sometimes to check on her.
A quiet "Sorry Virg" sent to him after he would glare. Virgil unaware of the fact that his teammates were gossiping about their way too obvious captain. Making up stories and betting on ways he'd finally confess to their beloved physio.

I open my eyes, squinting at the sunlight beaming through the window, noticing a jacket on my lap. I fix some of my hair and look at Virgil who looks totally invested into the show he's watching. I look at his bare arms and realize he must've placed his jacket on me while I was asleep. Making me feel warm at the thought. I reach over to nudge him, he turns his head immediately, removing his earphones.
"Oh you're awake."
"How long did I sleep?" I ask him, rubbing my eyes. He checks the time on his screen. "About two hours."
"Really? I was out for two hours?" I gasp.
"Yeah, I just let you sleep because you looked so peaceful." He says, staring at my slightly disheveled form. I can feel my face flush, so I decide stand up, grabbing my handbag and telling him I'll freshen up. I walk past him, sighing to myself as I walk down the aisle to the toilet.
I stare at myself in the mirror, thankfully I didn't look that bad, though my eyes were definitely puffy. I wash my face and fix my appearance a little, pulling down the soft white top I'm wearing since it had ridden up a little while asleep.
I walk back into my seat, plopping down and staring at the screen Virgil was watching, he notices, taking out one of his earphones and handing it to me with no words exchanged. I smile at him, accepting it as we continue to watch the show together.

I watch as the guys train, the sun had gone down a while ago in Linz, the sky pitch black with stars twinkling as I look up to admire them. The beauty of the sky in an open field was incomparable to the view of it in the big city, but both were amazing to look at.
I had been to Austria before, not necessarily stayed but visited it during a road trip me and my family went on when I was younger. We had traveled all around Europe for about three weeks. My parents had taken much-needed time off and decided traveling and seeing as many places as possible was the way to go.
I snap out of my thoughts at the sound of a whistle, realizing training had finally ended for the day. I tug my jacket on, chuckling at myself for being cold while all the players were drenched in sweat due to training. I watch as I see some of the players sit down on the chairs on the side of the pitch, and walk over to hand them some water.
"How are you even cold?" I hear Ibou yell, visibly tired. I laugh at him, handing him a bottle.
"Because I didn't go running throughout the entire field like you guys." I retort. "Besides I have low iron." I say, zipping up my jacket, hearing some players laugh. "Low iron yeah?" I hear Virgil say, smirking. "What? Can you let me live?" I say, hands on my hips while looking at him offended.
Our conversation- well bickering is interrupted as I turn my head to look at Dr. Woods, who's calling out to me, talking to me about the condition of some players.
Since Dr. Davis couldn't be here I would have to step in for him. This also meant I could join Dr. Woods on the bench as physiotherapist, making me feel super excited for tomorrows game. Finally, my bench debut would happen!
We arrive back at the fancy hotel, our luggage already brought up to our rooms. I was told I could take Dr. Davis'. So, I had my own private room I didn't have to share with any other female staff member, making me long for the comfortable silence and the big soft bed.
I walk along with some players, listening to them chat amongst each other. I reach into my jacket pocket, grabbing the chocolate snack I had stuffed into it, just in case. I had been craving sweets lately, undoubtedly an early sign of my period. I unwrap it, taking a bite before realizing I'm being watched by someone.
"What? I can't have low iron and a snack?" I ask Virgil. My eyebrows raised defensively as I take another bite, shaking my head at his judging expression. He raises his hands, jokingly surrendering with a smile on his face. "I didn't say a word."
"You've been on the doctors case a lot captain, give it a rest." I hear Robbo say as he puts his arm around my shoulders. I smile at him, as he tries defending me. "I know right he's being so rude." I say, as I start fake crying and Robbo laughings. I glance back at Virgil, seeing his expression drop for a moment, something flickering in his eyes.
"You've been teaming up with my teammates! What is this, no support for your captain at all!" He points to Robbo, but other players around us laugh, knowing they've joined me with teasing him. "Sorry lad, the doctor is the one helping me recover after I get injured. I don't want to be on her bad side." I smirk at him, holding back a laugh as we walk into the hotel.
I tell the guys goodnight as I get off the elevator on the level my room is. Walking into the hotel room, immediately walking over to check the view. The shining city lights making me admire them for a second before jumping into the shower.
I walk back out of the shower, bathrobe on as I plop onto the bed. Picking up my phone from the nightstand, realizing my friends had been ringing it. I press onto the missed call, their faces coming into view as I lift the phone closer to my face.
"Finally, miss sports physio called us back." I hear Monet say. I roll my eyes at her, leaning back and throwing my self fully onto the bed. "I was in the shower." I say, voice tired. "How was the flight?" Priya says. "Fine, I took a nap." I reply, running a hand on my face.
"You guys, she called me at two in the morning! Thinking she lost her passport, panicking for I think an hour, before realizing she put it in her handbag!" Jul shouts complaining about my late night call to her. I hear the others chuckle.
"Stop, it's not funny! I really thought I was fucked this time!" I whine. "You really need to stop overthinking, girl you used to always do that back in uni." Liz replies sternly. I groan at the tone in her voice, a scolding from her was always imminent.
I talk to them some more, before hanging up as I had to go to bed. I yawn, grabbing my suitcase and choosing my sleepwear. Changing as fast as possible and getting ready to finally rest properly.

I cheer as the referee whistles, clapping at the team's performance during the game. Liverpool had won 3-1 and I couldn't be prouder since they were on top of their table. The match was full of exciting moments like, Ryan's first assist for Liverpool and most importantly the final win. Not to mention, my first time being actively working on the pitch during a Liverpool match.
We walk back into the team bus, everyone tired but in a good mood. I pull out my phone, checking my notifications before clicking on the highlights of my childhood football club, who also had a match, the same time as us.
Despite only getting interested into football in my late teenage years, my dad always made it a point to teach me to love his childhood club. It was a generational tradition at this point. Since my dad is part Turkish, and was raised by my Turkish grandfather, he had to support the same Turkish football club: Fenerbahçe. It was one of the things that bonded me and my dad, at least a little.
"What are you watching? Highlights of what game?" I pause the video turning to Virgil. "My childhood club." I reply. "Fenerbahçe? Right you're part Turkish." He remembers, and I nod. "Think Galatasaray is better to be honest." He blurts, and glare at him. He really had to say that he liked my clubs biggest rivals in their league?
"Stop right now, I swear I'll never treat you again." I threaten, offended. "You're a little too fanatic- Okay I'll stop." He surrenders, a smirk on his face. I sigh, and return back to watch the video. "Oh they won, are you happy doctor?" He interrupts, again. "Yeah, my dad is so happy." I laugh, showing him the rare message my dad had sent in our family group chat.
I glance back at him, noticing him staring at me instead of the phone screen. I see him look away quickly, mumbling something about football making everyone happy. I can feel butterflies in my stomach, but I try to shrug it off, returning to finish watching the video. This time paying half the attention with my thoughts somewhere else.
We feel the bus park a while later, and we all walk out and go up to our hotel rooms. I wave everyone off, getting into my room, not feeling very tired, but remembering we had to get up at nine thirty this time, to get back to Liverpool.
I hear my phone ping as I'm watching TV on the couch, snacking on some candy and chocolate I had gotten this morning. I check my phone, seeing that Virgil had texted.
"Are you up y/n?"
I immediately feel butterflies in my stomach. What's with late text?
"Yeah, I'm up." I text, snapping a picture of the snacks on the table. "Craved some candy and a good movie."
He sends a funny sticker, also snapping back a video of him laying in his bed, might I add, shirtless. He pans the camera to show his own empty room, hearing his TV blare in the background. "Ohh so captain gets his own room?" I text, teasing him.
I smile to myself. If anyone else was in this room, they probably think I looked like a giddy teenage girl, texting her crush.
"What room are you in?" He replies, and my heart stops for a second. Why does he want to know that? Does he want to come here? I mentally panic before, getting it together and telling him what number.
"311 why?" I ask.
"You'll see." He replies, and I shoot up from my position. Is he actually coming to my room? At almost ten o'clock? I neglect texting back, running to my bathroom, fixing my hair and putting on some sweatpants underneath my oversized shirt. I take my time, just in time for a knock on the door.
I calmly walk up to the door, placing my head against the door to check through the peephole.
It's hotel staff?
I open the door carefully, sticking my head out of the opening. "Hello miss! Your room service." I stare at him for a second, tilting my head before it clicks. Virgil wasn't coming over to my room.
No, he'd ordered room service for me?
I open the door wider, allowing the man to bring in the food, he leaves shortly after and I close the door behind him.
I grab my phone off the couch, walking up to the food that was ordered for me. Two charcuterie boards; one consisting of all sorts of fruit and the another one full off savory snacks.
This was the sweetest thing someone had done for me in a long time, it making me a little emotional. Tears well up in my eyes at the thought. I couldn't tell if it was my hormonal cycle changing or it was due to the fact that I genuinely was so touched.
My phone pings with Virgil sending messages.
"Did you receive it?" He asks. "I thought this would be better than eating unhealthy snacks."
I feel a single tear drop down my cheek, replying with a picture of my crying face. "Wait, why are you crying? Do you do not like it?" He texts and I feel more tears fall down.
"No, it's so sweet that you thought of doing this." I reply, wiping away the tears on my cheek.
"Come on anyone would think of doing that." He says, and I laugh to myself. He was either way too oblivious or trying to be humble.
"No, seriously. You're so sweet, thank you." I reply, along with a sticker of a cute kitten. He sends a sticker back, before telling me to enjoy the snacks along with the movie.
I suddenly get an idea.
"Do you want to come over? I mean I couldn't finish all this by myself.” I ask, a little nerve wracked, fidgeting with my necklace.
"Are you sure? It's late, and we have to be up early." He replies.
"It's fine come down!" I text back, before dropping my phone on my bed and running to pull on some more appropriate lounge wear, this time knowing he'd come over for sure.
My phone pings a couple minutes later and I open the message. "I'm at your door." I read, before hearing a knock.
"I'm coming." I say, a little quieter too not wake up everyone on my floor. I swing my door open, revealing a very relaxed looking Virgil, in gray sweats and a black T-shirt. The dream combo, I hold back a laugh.
I notice how good his hair looked, his waves done neatly. Did this man just take his durag off or? His hair always looked freshly done, no matter what.
"Hey." He mutters. A pretty smile on his face.
"Hi." I whisper back, returning the smile as my dimples show. I step aside, making way for him to enter my room, and closing the door behind him.
