CRAZY PRICES At Car Auction! Dealers IN TROUBLE!
Car Dealers CAN'T SELL! Prices Are FALLING!
In this video you will get to see what car dealers are Actually paying for their cars and trucks! My name is Brandon and I am a used car dealer. I created Car Questions Answered to share the ins and outs of the used car market from my perspective. I share with you updates on car prices, what's happening at the dealer auctions, and what it's like being a dealer. My goal is to share information to help you make the best decisions while buying a car to save you money. I do not want car dealers taking advantage of you.
P.S. Good source of information about the used car market! However, it should be added that buyers of used high mileage ICE cars are sometimes quite naïve and expect more from their "new" cars than they can deliver. Modern ICE vehicle repair works are actually quite expensive and a "cheap" purchase ends up being very expensive...

Kyle came to pick you up. By now the two of you were buddies, with him treating you like a younger sibling. There are plenty of memes exchanged between the two of you, and you’ve tagged along with him on more than one occasion. He knows a lot about cars, and you’ve helped him work on a couple vehicles. Turns out he works at a small mechanic shop. Never overcharges people, or pulls fake expenses. Has a tendency to undercharge but sometimes gets something of equal value.
You get in the passenger seat and putting your bag in the backseat. You notice a few small things in the back. Kyle starts driving and you stretch in the seat.
“Seat belt.” He says and you put it on.
“Peach wine?” You ask. Kyle gives a half smile keeping his eyes on the road.
“She insisted on giving a whole case.” Kyle says. One of his customers was an older lady who made wine on the side. She couldn’t always cover the costs of her old run down vehicle getting repaired so Kyle settled for a bottle of her wine to cover the rest. “Gonna let Price try some and serve it at the pub.”
“Speaking of drinks, do the guys like ice tea with popping boba?” You ask.
“Don’t think so.”
“Woo!” You cheer. More for you! You sit back in your seat, watching out the window. The drive is a longer one than necessary. After some time, you notice a few landmarks out of place. You suspect someone is following you two, and Kyle is trying to get them to leave you both alone.
“Had a visitor.” You say, wanting to fill the quiet drive. “Milena Romanova.”
“The hell did she want?” Kyle says, checking his mirrors.
“Gave me an invitation to a gathering. Offered to show some of my work at open houses. Graves was there too but he got there before Milena.”
“He broke in?” Kyle asks. Graves sounded like a toxic ex.
“No, he has my spare key. He was there before I got there, I talked to Milena and then found out he was around.” You exclaim. It’s quiet in the car for a bit. The purring engine fills the silence as he mutters something checking behind him.
“I told him about the raid.” You say. If anyone would take it calmly, it was Kyle. The car feels even quieter, though. Telling Graves hadn’t been decided yet. Kyle is fidgeting a little with the wheel, staring forward. “I’m sor-“
“Don’t say sorry to me.” He says, and you can hear more in his voice. You've heard a similar tone when someone brought the wrong tires after they were late for their tire change. There’s a pause as he straightens in the seat and speeds up a little, making it through a yellow light before making a turn and then another. There’s a pause while you check the side mirror to see if anyone is still following. After a few minutes, you don’t recognize any of the vehicles that were behind you before the light.
“Price has issues with the police since Graves and what happened with Makarov. If he can avoid them he does, but right now, we need all the help we can get, and if Graves can give us the legal system we should be taking it.” Kyle says. He has a look of determination in his eyes. One you haven’t seen in him much, except for when you’d seen him go out with Price for “work” or defend someone in a fight. He glances at you while waiting at a red light.
“Graves tell you what to do?” He asks. You nod. Kyle nods as if he already knows the instructions himself. There’s another pause waiting for the light to turn green. He looks at you directly.
“Did you actually record the conversation?” Kyle asks.
“Yep.” You say smiling. “I don’t think she’s seen the work I did of her.”
Kyle is laughing as he steps on the gas, the light green now. “You should go to that gathering just to see the look on her face.”
“She’ll likely simmer down by then. Not sure if I want to go if Makarov is there.”
“He’s supposed to be there?” Kyle asks.
“Probably. I mean Milena came to my apartment and when she saw me, she tried to make the excuse that my unit was up for sale. I assume Makarov gave her my address. She even stood there waiting for me. Could've put it in my mailbox or slid it under the door. Clearly, they want me to know they can find me.”
“You don’t want to see him?” Kyle inquires, though the answer is fairly obvious. He doesn't blame you.
“I... I don't think I'm ready to face him yet. Not alone, with a crowd of people." You answer.
Kyle pulls into a parking spot not far from the safe house apartment. He carries the wine, while you haul your bag. You both walk in and find Laswell chatting with Price. You haven’t seen Laswell since meeting John Price for the first time. After putting your bag in your bedroom you come back out and make some tea. Kyle has the small crate on the kitchen counter and is getting a couple of glasses for Price and Laswell to try. You take your seat at the bar and notice a similar envelope to your own invitation.
“You got invited?” You wonder aloud. Laswell looks at you and then where you’re looking.
“You got one?” She asks. You hold it up and John’s expression changes with the lift of an eyebrow. Laswell’s eyes go to her laptop, where you see some stuff but you’re not sure what exactly it is. You don’t want to inquire either.
Kyle hands both Price and Laswell a glass of the wine. You look at Kyle and then look between the two others while they try the wine. Do you tell them about Graves? Kyle folds his arms, looks at the floor, and then back at you. He gives you a slight shrug as an answer. You can, but that “you can” is gonna be loaded.
“Graves told me to leave an anonymous tip about the raid.” You blurt out. Kyle looks away while Price and Laswell look at you. The two of them are old enough to be your parents but damn do they feel like it this moment. You look between trying to figure out whose face to settle on. You pick Laswell but she just shakes her head and returns to her laptop. Thanks, Laswell, now you’re stuck facing the giant bear that is Price. You look at him and his face says something but you don't know what it is. It’s like reading a book highlighted with a black sharpie.
“I can call him off, tell him not to.” You say, wanting to back out of the whole thing.
“Tell who?” Johnny asks coming out of the hall. When did he get here?
“Tell Graves not to be at the raid.” You blurt out again. Johnny was reaching for the fridge until he stopped and gave you the same expression as John. Seriously how did they do that? That is impressively coordinated. You try looking to Kyle, hoping he'll weigh in. Nope. Kyle is not even making eye contact with you just looking at the ground. There is tension and you hate it.
“I’ll tell him not to.” You say breaking eye contact with them and staring down at the counter top.
“Send the tip.” John says, biting back some annoyance. “At the very least Graves can keep the damage down and focus on Makarov’s men.”
You didn’t realize you were holding breath until Price finished talking. Johnny goes back to the fridge, letting the tension die out.
“This is home made?” Price asks Kyle who finally looks up from the floor as if he were never trying to hide from the conversation.
“Yeah.” Kyle says. You eye Soap while the two continue talking and he’s distracted. You both know the risks that could come, and the differing amount of trust you both have in Graves. Time would tell.
“If you’re going to that gathering, you probably shouldn’t go in ripped jeans and a hoodie.” Laswell comments the next day. She’d come back to the hideout fairly early. Thinking about it, you can’t recall her leaving, since you went to bed early. You woke up, got dressed and came out to find her remaking the pot of coffee.
“Not sure I want to go.” You reply checking to see what in the fridge was still edible. You find some left over chicken, but the stray could have that after feeding her kits. You find a protein bar, and settle, sitting up on the counter.
“Because of Makarov?” She asks. You shrug, but she’s right. You never met the man face to face but if he was enough to make everyone treat him like the plague you were hardly eager to shake his hand.
“Makarov is a smart man, he won’t do anything to you when you’re there.” She says.
“You don’t know that.” You counter, rubbing your arm. Laswell notices you tugging on your sleeve. She lets the coffee brew while standing in front of you. Laswell holds out her hand and you already know what she wants. You offer your wrist and pull the sleeve back showing the fairly nasty bruise. It is healing but hasn’t by much.
Kate looks up at you while you’re focused on the bruise. You’d been in gun fights before. Someone grabbing your wrist and squeezing until you bruised was an experience you had no interest in repeating. At least not like that. Nolan had found you again and grabbed at you. He tried dragging you to a car but your quick thinking to bite his wrist got him off. It left you with the taste of his blood in your mouth and an impression on your skin. You’d kept it to yourself though.
“What happened?” Kate asks. Her voice is calm, likely not the first time this has happened. She isn't demanding an answer. You tell her and she listens. No scolding or shaming you for not saying anything or not doing something more. You almost wish she would because at times you feel like a kid in this group. You expect her to say you did your best and it’s not your fault. Kate doesn’t though. Instead, she tugs the sleeve back down.
“Good work. You may not be able to get him arrested but he won’t forget the bite anytime soon.” She says. You smile, feeling a little proud of yourself.
“If you can do this, then I think you can handle Makarov. Especially since I’ll be there as with officer Alex.” Kate says.
“You think I should go?” You ask.
“You don’t have to, but if you want… it would give you a chance to see some very humorous reactions to your work,” Kate says taking a sip of newly poured coffee.

LETTERS FROM AN AMERICAN
July 6, 2023
HEATHER COX RICHARDSON
JUL 7, 2023
The payroll processing firm ADP said today that private sector jobs jumped by 497,000 in June, far higher than the Dow Jones consensus estimate predicted. The big gains were in leisure and hospitality, which added 232,000 new hires; construction with 97,000; and trade, transportation and utilities with 90,000. Annual pay rose at a rate of 6.4%. Most of the jobs came from companies with fewer than 50 employees.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which is a way to measure the stock market by aggregating certain stocks, dropped 372 points as the strong labor market made traders afraid that the Fed would raise interest rates again to cool the economy. Higher interest rates make borrowing more expensive, slowing investment.
Today, as the Washington Post’s climate reporter Scott Dance warned that the sudden surge of broken heat records around the globe is raising alarm among scientists, Bloomberg’s Cailley LaPara reported that the incentives in the Inflation Reduction Act for emerging technologies to address climate change have long-term as well as short-term benefits.
Dance noted that temperatures in the North Atlantic are already close to their typical annual peak although we are early in the season, sea ice levels around Antarctica are terribly low, and Monday was the Earth’s hottest day in at least 125,000 years and Tuesday was hotter. LaPara noted that while much attention has been paid to the short-term solar, EV, and wind industries in the U.S., emerging technologies for industries that can’t be electrified—technologies like sustainable aviation fuel, clean hydrogen, and direct air capture, which pulls carbon dioxide out of the air—offer huge potential to reduce emissions by 2030.
This news was the backdrop today as President Biden was in South Carolina to talk about Bidenomics. After touting the huge investments of both public and private capital that are bringing new businesses and repaired infrastructure to that state, Biden noted that analysts have said that the new laws Democrats have passed will do more for Republican-dominated states than for Democratic ones. “Well, that’s okay with me,” Biden said, “because we’re all Americans. Because my view is: Wherever the need is most, that’s the place we should be helping. And that’s what we’re doing. Because the way I look at it, the progress we’re making is good for all Americans, all of America.”
On Air Force One on the way to the event, deputy press secretary Andrew Bates began his remarks to the press: “President Biden promised that he would be a president for all Americans, regardless of where they live and regardless of whether they voted for him or not. He also promised to rebuild the middle class. The fact that Bidenomics has now galvanized over $500 billion in job-creating private sector investment is the newest testament to how seriously he takes fulfilling those promises.”
Bates listed all the economic accomplishments of the administration and then added: “the most powerful endorsement of Bidenomics is this: Every signature economic law this President has signed, congressional Republicans who voted “no” and attacked it on Fox News then went home to their district and hailed its benefits.” He noted that “Senator Lindsey Graham called the Inflation Reduction Act ‘a nightmare for South Carolina,’” then, “[j]ust two months later, he called BMW’s electric vehicles announcement ‘one of the most consequential announcements in the history of the state of South Carolina.’” “Representative Joe Wilson blasted the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law but later announced, ‘I welcome Scout Motors’ plans to invest $2 billion and create up to 4,000 jobs in South Carolina.’ Nancy Mace called Bidenomics legislation a…‘disaster,’ then welcomed a RAISE grant to Charleston.”
“[W]hat could speak to the effectiveness of Bidenomics more than these conversions?” Bates asked.
While Biden is trying to sell Americans on an economic vision for the future, the Republican leadership is doubling down on dislike of President Biden and the Democrats. Early on the morning of July 2, Trump, who remains the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee, shared a meme of President Biden that included a flag reading: “F*CK BIDEN AND F*CK YOU FOR VOTING FOR HIM!” The next morning, in all caps, he railed against what he called “massive prosecutorial conduct” and “the weaponization of law enforcement,” asking: “Do the people of this once great nation even have a choice but to protest the potential doom of the United States of America??? 2024!!!”
Prosecutors have told U.S. district judge Aileen Cannon that they want to begin Trump’s trial on 37 federal charges for keeping and hiding classified national security documents, and as his legal trouble heats up, Trump appears to be calling for violence against Democrats. On June 29 he posted what he claimed was the address of former president Barack Obama, inspiring a man who had been at the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol to repost the address and to warn, “We got these losers surrounded! See you in hell,…Obama’s [sic].” Taylor Tarranto then headed there with firearms and ammunition, as well as a machete, in his van. Secret Service agents arrested him.
Indeed, those crossing the law for the former president are not faring well. More than 1,000 people have been arrested for their participation in the events of January 6, and those higher up the ladder are starting to feel the heat as well. Trump lawyer Lin Wood, who pushed Trump’s 2020 election lies, was permitted to “retire” his law license on Tuesday rather than be disbarred. Trump lawyer John Eastman is facing disbarment in California for trying to overturn the 2020 election with his “fake elector” scheme, a ploy whose legitimacy the Supreme Court rejected last week. And today, Trump aide Walt Nauta pleaded not guilty to federal charges of withholding documents and conspiring to obstruct justice for allegedly helping Trump hide the classified documents he had at Mar-a-Lago.
Trump Republicans—MAGA Republicans—are cementing their identity by fanning fears based on cultural issues, but it is becoming clear those are no longer as powerful as they used to be as the reality of Republican extremism becomes clear.
Yesterday the man who raped and impregnated a then-9-year-old Ohio girl was sentenced to at least 25 years in prison. Last year, after the Supreme Court overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision recognizing the constitutional right to abortion, President Biden used her case to argue for the need for abortion access. Republican lawmakers, who had criminalized all abortions after 6 weeks, before most people know they’re pregnant, publicly doubted that the case was real (Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost told the Fox News Channel there was “not a damn scintilla of evidence” to support the story). Unable to receive an abortion in Ohio, the girl, who had since turned 10, had to travel to Indiana, where Dr. Caitlin Bernard performed the procedure.
Republican Indiana attorney general Todd Rokita complained—inaccurately—that Bernard had not reported child abuse and that she had violated privacy laws by talking to a reporter, although she did not identify the patient and her employer said she acted properly. Bernard was nonetheless reprimanded for her handling of privacy issues and fined by the Indiana licensing board. Her employer disagreed.
As Republican-dominated states have dramatically restricted abortion, they have fueled such a backlash that party members are either trying to avoid talking about it or are now replacing the phrase “national ban” with “national consensus” or “national standard,” although as feminist writer Jessica Valenti, who studies this language, notes, they still mean strict antiabortion measures. In the House, some newly-elected and swing-district Republicans have blocked abortion measures from coming to a vote out of concern they will lose their seats in 2024.
But it is not at all clear the issue will go away. Yesterday, those committed to protecting abortion rights in Ohio turned in 70% more signatures than they needed to get a measure amending the constitution to protect that access on the ballot this November. In August, though, antiabortion forces will use a special election to try to change the threshold for constitutional amendments, requiring 60% of voters rather than a majority.

A theory
People would be more enthusiastic about electric cars if they were more stupid technology.
And what I mean by this is: The approach to electric cars comes from a more Tech Futurist, Brave New World, "The tech singularity will evolve humanity!" mentality, not designed for the homesteading truck driver.
That's not going to attract Farmer Ned who needs a cheap, reliable way to bring lots of heavy, rambunctious loads from A to B and survive like a Toyota Hilux. That's not going to attract the 16-19 year old boys that want to have a sweet ride with a lot of power to show off their youth and potential and power on the road and ability to drive. That's not going to attract the diesel loving woman that likes the power and efficiency of the engine.
If you want to attract people to electric cars and get people more enthusiastic about them, you need to make the cars dumber. You need to make it so you can TOTALLY OWN the cars and not need a million software updates. You need to make it so some fellow named Bob can institute a clever repair of the mechanical parts with clever use of welding and a few ordered parts.
The mentality that people shouldn't be able to OWN their own vehicles as property has to die, if you want people to drive electric cars. The end user needs to be able to just get in, turn the key and drive with as few digital computer bits as an I.C.E. from the 1967.
But that's not the direction Brave New Worlders want people to go. They aren't trying to sell a car, they're trying to shoehorn people down a path they may not necessarily want to go. Where the software makers dictate and gatekeep on if your car runs or not, it can be shut off externally via a signal, or the data accessed without your awareness or permission.
The first people to be able to make Absolutely Dumb electric cars that just run with the torque and energy efficiency of a standard EV but have all the personal privacy and private ownership of a classic automobile, will make a mint.
Electric vehicles do not need a lot of potentially carcinogenic lubricants and oils in the engine because magnetic fields and electricity do most of the driving for them. They don't need expensive chemical fuels, even if electricity expenses may grow as more people use them. They don't need expensive catalytic converters with rare metals, because they don't produce noxious fumes out the exhaust pipe. They can be stripped down powerhouses.
You just need batteries or capacitors big enough to store the charge that'd give you as much work as a tank of gasoline or diesel. And that's it. Outside that, it's all brake pads and non-ICE engine stuff. Maybe some electronics for luxury.
Design an electric car for the stiff who has to buy a cheap A-to-B vehicle and doesn't NEED stuff like self-warming seats, that's just a powerful body so they can pick up and move shit and not spend a fortune repairing and replacing things, or maintenance and repair is so easy that the mechanics can get in, switch out parts, get out, and get people on their way. ICE engines are very complex and complicated, electric motors are nowhere near as complicated or should be that expensive.
But the Brave New World people don't WANT this sort of availability, they want it too expensive for the poor layman to afford, because they don't like the idea people can just get up and move thousands of pounds of vehicle and belongings so easily.

Auto Dent Repair - Hail Dent Pro
Can car dents be removed?
Yes, car dents can often be removed. The method used for dent removal depends on factors such as the size and location of the dent, as well as the type of material the car panel is made of. Here are some common methods for car dent removal:
Paintless Dent Repair (PDR): This is a popular method for small to medium-sized dents where the paint is undamaged. PDR involves using specialized tools to massage the dent from behind the panel, restoring the metal to its original shape without the need for repainting.
Dent Pulling: For larger dents or those without access to the backside of the panel, a technique called dent pulling can be used. This involves attaching a device to the exterior of the car that pulls the dent out. After pulling, some refinishing may be necessary.
Heat and Cold Method: This method involves using a hairdryer or a heat gun to heat the area around the dent and then using a can of compressed air (or dry ice) to rapidly cool it. The sudden change in temperature can cause the metal to contract and pop the dent back into place.
Body Filler and Repainting: For more extensive damage or dents with chipped or damaged paint, body filler can be used to fill in the dent, followed by sanding and repainting to match the car's original finish.
Professional Repair Services: If you're not comfortable attempting the repair yourself, or if the dent is severe, it's advisable to seek the services of a professional auto body shop. They have the expertise and equipment to assess the damage and choose the most appropriate repair method.
Keep in mind that the success of dent removal depends on the specific characteristics of the dent and the skill of the person performing the repair. In some cases, especially with deep or complex dents, it may be challenging to achieve a perfect result without some visible traces of the damage.
How much does car dent repair cost Texas?
The cost of car dent repair in Texas, as in any other location, can vary based on several factors, including the size and location of the dent, the repair method used, the make and model of the vehicle, and the specific rates of the auto body shop you choose. Additionally, labor rates and the overall cost of living can influence prices in different regions of Texas.
To get an accurate estimate for car dent repair in Texas, you should contact local auto body shops directly. They can assess the damage to your vehicle and provide you with a detailed estimate based on their rates and the required repair methods.
It's worth noting that prices for car dent repair can vary significantly between different shops, so it's advisable to obtain multiple quotes to ensure you're getting a fair and competitive price. Additionally, if the dent was caused by an event covered by your insurance policy, you may want to check with your insurance provider to understand the extent of your coverage and any potential out-of-pocket expenses.
Keep in mind that the information provided here is general, and specific prices can only be determined through direct communication with local auto body shops in Texas.

Real Car Guy Story, Part 1
I feel like a Real Car Guy now, because what you are looking at is a new (used) EJ253. I surely did not install it myself!! But I made the decision to have it installed and paid 💸💸💸💸 for it, and I wanted to write down somewhere why I did this.
Backstory
I bought this car at 152,000 miles when it was just over 10 years old. I am its fourth or fifth owner, or something somewhat high, and one of those owners was an auction lot, where it hung around for several months unowned by anyone. It is now 16.5 years old, with 222,140 miles.
This car has burned oil the entire time I’ve owned it, though drivability-wise it’s never seemed to care. Oil burning is fairly typical for 100k+ engines, and even more so for Subarus. There are a few reasons, but I think the primary one is that the EPA sets MPG requirements--but AWD is less fuel efficient than 2WD, which makes it harder to hit the standard. Subaru responded by reducing friction in the engine, so that it takes less work to move the components. This means that as the components wear, oil can leak into the combustion chamber and burn. Industry standard across all makes is that burning 1qt of oil is within spec.
This spec is kind of BS, tbh, because you shouldn’t have to be adding a quart of oil every 1000 miles, but it is what it is and Costco-brand oil is cheap and tests well, so whatever. In the time that I’ve owned this car, it’s burned a quart of oil every 1500-500 miles (generally worse in winter/severe service). So that’s roughly 72,000 miles of trucking along like that.
Catalytic Converters
Unfortunately, it has also eaten through what is now multiple cats--catalytic converters. These are expensive--you may have noticed there’s a lot of news stories about their being cut and stolen, because their filters have a bunch of precious metals in them. So it’s not a great part to keep fouling and going through. Fouling a cat will set a P0420 code.
For most cars, a P0420 is not going to do anything but illuminate your MIL. Your cat has to outright clog (rather than simply read out of spec) in order for anything noticeable to happen--unless you live in an inspection state, in which case a P0420 will fail you.
Last summer, I managed to outright clog a cat, which resulted in TROUBLED TIMES aka an asthmatic engine, and a complicated 100-mile tow back to my old mechanic shop, because I’d moved but that cat was still under warranty and I wanted it replaced for free under warranty. I was apprehensive about having to make small talk with a tow truck guy for 100 miles, but he was fun and we talked about his crappy Taurus and it was a good time until he tried to ask me out after the tow. I was like 🙃 I thought we were just having a nice conversation about cars but I guess not.
Anyway, fast forward to just over a year later, and I trip the P0420 AGAIN, which means I’ve burnt out a cat in UNDER A YEAR. With EPA-compliant replacements running $1500-$2000, that’s not ideal. What to do?
Cost Comparisons
In the last 72,000 I’ve done some minor experimentation with oil and oil burning. I replaced the PCV valve (no dice), and have tried different brands of oil and synthetic vs. conventional, etc. One of my previous mechanics suggested a cocktail of oil additives to plump up worn seals in the engine to stop the oil burning, but I was basically just like, might as well do the full engine and stop messing around.
I recognize that engine replacement is not a regular, normal-person repair--not for a stock, standard issue family vehicle with 222k+ on the chassis and an entire lifetime in the saltbelt (almost 17 years). But I really think it made sense in this instance, because:
1) Love: I love this car; I prefer this body style, which Subaru no longer makes; I remain leery of both CVTs and screen-based infotainment systems; and tbh it all smacks of planned obsolescence to me. Plus, if I’m going to buy a newer car, I don’t want it to be an ICE car--I think electric is the future and ideally I want to run this car until it makes sense for my next one to be electric or plug-in hybrid. But for my needs, and for how I drive, and for where I live, the infrastructure for that is not yet where I want it to be.
2) Neurotic Recordkeeping: I’ve built a really strong maintenance history for this year over the last 72k miles. I know how it drives, I know what work it’s had done, I know the history and condition of a panoply of random things that would not come up in a used-car inspection. And I know these things over time--the oil consumption, for example. I could’ve bought basically the same car for less than an engine and cat replacement, but who’s to say what else it might need or what kind of car it is? And I know this car regularly has its oil levels checked; I check the condition of all the fluids visually and with test strips. I know how it’s been driven, and I know whether the maintenance intervals have been respected. (I’ll return to this in Real Car Guy Story, Part 3, because LOL F ME).
3) Clean Chassis in a Hostile World: For a 16.5-year old r u s t b e l t car, the chassis is very solid. It’s a clean car. And maybe if you live somewhere else you can make that assumption, but you can’t here.
For these reasons, I felt like this is what made sense for me. Maybe it wouldn’t have if I didn’t trust this car, or know it well. And maybe it wouldn’t have if I were excited about a newer vehicle, or if it was financially unwise to sink so much money into something all at once. But I do love this car and I did have the money--and I used it to play for keeps, rather than to ensure that I had a set of wheels that’d be reliable for another 3-5 years.
How many years do I think I’ve given myself? I’m aiming for another 10, would grudgingly accept another 5, could easily see another 20 (though probably not as my primary vehicle).

How Temperature Changes Affect Your Windshield and What to Do About It?
Your vehicle’s windshield is designed to protect you from the elements, but it can also be vulnerable to the changing temperatures throughout the year. Whether it’s the freezing cold of winter or the intense heat of summer, temperature fluctuations can cause damage to your windshield. In this blog, we’ll explore how temperature changes can affect your windshield and what you can do to prevent or repair any issues.
How Temperature Affects Your Windshield?
Windshields are made of laminated glass, which consists of two layers of glass with a layer of plastic in between. While this makes the glass strong and shatter-resistant, it also means that the glass is prone to stress due to temperature changes. Here’s how temperature fluctuations impact your windshield:
1. Thermal Stress and Cracking
Sudden temperature changes can cause the glass to expand or contract, leading to thermal stress. For example, if you start your car on a cold winter morning and turn on the defroster, the temperature difference between the hot air inside and the cold glass can cause the windshield to crack. These cracks may start as small chips but can quickly grow into large, dangerous cracks if left untreated.
2. Pressure from Extreme Heat
In the summer, the intense heat from the sun can cause the windshield to expand, putting pressure on any existing chips or cracks. Over time, the repeated expansion and contraction can cause those imperfections to worsen, making them harder (and more expensive) to repair. Prolonged exposure to extreme heat can also weaken the windshield’s structural integrity.
3. Frozen Windshields in Winter
During the winter months, freezing temperatures can cause water that’s seeped into small cracks or chips to freeze. When water freezes, it expands, putting additional pressure on the windshield, potentially causing the cracks to grow. If your windshield has any chips or cracks, this can significantly worsen the damage during the cold season.
4. Moisture and Temperature Fluctuations
Moisture from rain or snow, combined with temperature fluctuations, can also exacerbate the damage. For example, after a heavy rain, moisture can seep into small cracks in your windshield. If the temperature drops, the water freezes, and the expanding ice can push against the glass, worsening the crack or chip. Similarly, if the moisture evaporates under the hot sun, it can create additional stress on the windshield.
What You Can Do About It?
Now that you understand how temperature changes can affect your windshield, let’s look at some practical tips to help prevent damage and protect your windshield from temperature extremes.
1. Avoid Sudden Temperature Changes
If possible, avoid subjecting your windshield to sudden temperature changes. For example, when you’re starting your car on a cold morning, don’t immediately blast the heater on the windshield. Instead, start the car and let it warm up gradually. This will give the windshield time to adjust to the temperature change, reducing the likelihood of stress cracks.
2. Repair Chips and Cracks Early
If you notice any chips or cracks in your windshield, it’s important to have them repaired as soon as possible. Small chips can quickly turn into large cracks, especially when subjected to temperature fluctuations. Repairing small chips or cracks can prevent them from worsening, saving you money on a full windshield replacement later.
3. Use Windshield Covers in Winter
During the winter months, using a windshield cover can protect your windshield from the freezing temperatures. It can also prevent ice buildup and keep your windshield from having to deal with the pressure of scraping off ice, which can cause further damage.
4. Park in a Garage or Shaded Area
Whenever possible, park your vehicle in a garage or a shaded area, especially during extreme weather conditions. This will help protect your windshield from direct sunlight in the summer, as well as freezing temperatures in the winter. Parking in a shaded area also reduces the chances of thermal stress when you start your car.
5. Regularly Inspect Your Windshield
Make it a habit to regularly inspect your windshield for chips, cracks, or any other signs of damage. Catching problems early allows you to address them before they worsen due to temperature fluctuations. If you notice any damage, consult with a professional auto glass repair service to determine the best course of action.
Temperature changes can have a significant impact on the condition of your windshield, leading to cracks and other damage that can compromise your safety. Used Electric Cars for Sale in Atlanta, GA: Your Guide to Sustainable Driving at an Affordable Price
As electric vehicles (EVs) continue to grow in popularity, more and more drivers are looking to make the switch to a greener, more sustainable mode of transportation. In Atlanta, GA, used electric cars are becoming an increasingly attractive option for drivers who want to reduce their carbon footprint while saving money on fuel and maintenance. With various makes and models available, buying a pre-owned electric car can be a smart way to enjoy the benefits of EV ownership without the higher price tag associated with new vehicles.
In this guide, we’ll explore why buying a used electric car in Atlanta is a great option, what to look for when shopping for one, and where to find the best deals on pre-owned EVs in the area.
Why Buy a Used Electric Car in Atlanta?
1. Affordability
One of the primary reasons to consider buying a used electric car is the price. New electric vehicles (EVs) can be expensive, with models like the Tesla Model S or the Audi e-tron costing well over $40,000. However, pre-owned electric cars are significantly more affordable, allowing buyers to access the latest technology and eco-friendly features at a lower cost.
Moreover, as electric vehicles age, they lose value more slowly than traditional gas-powered cars, so buying a used EV can help you avoid the steep depreciation associated with new cars. With a wide variety of second-hand electric vehicles on the market, you'll likely find options that fit your budget and still offer great performance and range.
2. Incentives and Tax Credits
Although the federal tax credit for new electric vehicles is only available for new car purchases, there are still state-level incentives and rebates that may apply to used electric vehicles. Georgia, for example, offers a $5,000 rebate on the purchase of a new or used EV, making it even more affordable to drive an electric car.
Additionally, many used electric cars are eligible for incentives offered by local utility companies, including rebates for home charging equipment and reduced electricity rates for EV owners. These savings can add up quickly and make the transition to electric driving even more cost-effective.
3. Low Operating Costs
Electric cars are known for their low operating costs compared to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Since EVs have fewer moving parts, they generally require less maintenance—there’s no need for oil changes, fewer brake repairs, and fewer transmission issues. As an added bonus, charging an electric vehicle at home is far cheaper than filling up a gas tank, especially if you take advantage of off-peak electricity rates.
For drivers in Atlanta, where gas prices can fluctuate, switching to an EV offers significant savings on fuel. With the growing number of public charging stations in Atlanta and throughout Georgia, owning an EV is becoming increasingly convenient.
4. Environmental Impact
The environmental benefits of driving an electric car are undeniable. EVs produce zero tailpipe emissions, which significantly reduce your carbon footprint and contribute to cleaner air quality. By purchasing a used electric car, you can take advantage of the environmental benefits of EVs without the higher environmental cost of manufacturing a new vehicle.
5. Expanding Charging Infrastructure
Atlanta has seen rapid growth in the number of public electric vehicle charging stations. As of 2023, the city is home to dozens of Level 2 and fast-charging stations, making it easier for EV owners to keep their vehicles charged and ready to go. Whether you’re at work, running errands, or exploring the city, the charging infrastructure in Atlanta makes owning a used electric car more convenient than ever.
What to Look for When Buying a Used Electric Car
1. Battery Health and Range
When purchasing a used electric vehicle, the most important factor to consider is the health of the battery. The battery is the most expensive component of an EV, and its performance diminishes over time. Be sure to ask the seller about the car’s battery health and whether it has been replaced or serviced.
Most EV manufacturers offer warranties for the battery that last between 8 to 10 years or up to 100,000 miles, so check to see if the car is still under warranty. Also, consider the car's range—how far it can travel on a single charge—since older EVs may have a shorter range than newer models.
2. Vehicle History Report
As with any used car, it’s important to get a vehicle history report when buying a used electric vehicle. A history report will provide valuable information on whether the car has been in any accidents, its previous owners, and any potential mechanical or electrical issues. Services like Carfax or AutoCheck can provide detailed reports that help you make an informed decision.
3. Charging Compatibility
Ensure that the EV you’re considering is compatible with your preferred charging setup. Many electric cars use standard Level 2 chargers, but some, like the Nissan Leaf, may require a specific charging station. Confirm that you have access to the necessary charging infrastructure, whether at home or in public spaces, and ensure the vehicle is compatible with your charging needs.
4. Warranty and Maintenance
Look into the manufacturer's warranty coverage for the used EV. Some brands, such as Tesla and Chevrolet, offer extended warranties for their electric vehicles. If the car is still under warranty, it could save you money on repairs and offer added peace of mind.
5. Model-Specific Considerations
Different EV models have unique features and specifications. For example, Tesla models are known for their long range, advanced technology, and high resale value, but they can also be pricier than other options. Chevrolet Bolts offer excellent range and affordability, while Nissan Leafs are one of the most budget-friendly options with a proven track record for reliability. Consider your needs, driving habits, and budget when choosing the right model.
Where to Find Used Electric Cars for Sale in Atlanta, GA
1. Local Dealerships
Many dealerships in Atlanta specialize in used electric cars, offering a variety of makes and models. Some well-known options include:
Jim Ellis Chevrolet: Located just outside of Atlanta, Jim Ellis offers a selection of used electric vehicles, including the Chevrolet Bolt. They also offer financing and warranties to help make your purchase smoother.
Atlanta Luxury Motors: Known for their upscale inventory, Atlanta Luxury Motors often carries pre-owned electric vehicles, including luxury models like the Tesla Model S or BMW i3.
AutoNation USA: AutoNation is a large dealership with several locations around Atlanta. They carry a wide selection of used vehicles, including EVs like the Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Bolt, and provide transparent pricing and competitive financing options.
2. Online Platforms
Online platforms like CarGurus, Autotrader, and Cars.com allow you to browse thousands of used electric vehicles across various price points and models. These websites feature detailed listings, including vehicle history reports and photos, and many allow you to filter your search by range, battery health, and price.
3. Carvana and Vroom
If you prefer to shop for a used electric car from the comfort of your home, platforms like Carvana and Vroom offer a seamless online car-buying experience. They allow you to browse a wide range of EVs, schedule home delivery, and even take advantage of a return policy, so you can ensure you’re happy with your purchase.
4. Private Sellers
Private sellers may offer lower prices, but buying from them requires more caution. Check platforms like Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace for listings of used EVs from individuals in the Atlanta area. Be sure to request a vehicle history report, inspect the car thoroughly, and have it inspected by a trusted mechanic before finalizing the purchase.
Conclusion
used electric cars for sale in atlanta ga are a smart and affordable option for Atlanta residents looking to embrace a more sustainable and cost-efficient driving lifestyle. With a wide variety of models available, from budget-friendly Nissan Leafs to luxury Tesla vehicles, you can find a used electric vehicle that fits your needs and budget. By considering factors like battery health, vehicle history, and available incentives, you can make a well-informed purchase that helps you save money, reduce your environmental impact, and enjoy the benefits of EV ownership.
As electric vehicle technology continues to improve, buying a used EV in Atlanta is not only an investment in your future but also in the future of the planet. Whether you choose a sleek Tesla or a practical Chevy Bolt, you’ll be joining the growing number of drivers making the switch to cleaner, greener transportation.

JUNK Ford Ecosport 1.0L 3-Cylinder Ecoboost Teardown. How Do You Avoid This Failure?
Check out our website at www.Importapart.com or email us at [email protected] for parts and part inquiries. I've been tearing down engines on camera for 2 and a half years! Search my channel to see what I've torn down. You have been asking and FINALLY! I found one of these little nuggets of combustion. A 1.0L, turbocharged, direct injected 3 cylinder Ecoboost from a Ford Ecosport. This is a pretty unique engine in design as there aren't a lot of 3 cylinder offerings in the US, and I think its the first domestic branded 3 cylinder since the Geo Metro of the 90's. This 1000cc powerhouse puts down 123hp and is available in the front wheel drive Ecosport and Ford Focus, although they are available in more cars for different markets. This particular core engine is thought to have around 70-80k miles on it which is very premature for an engine failure on a modern car. I tear this engine all the way down to try to figure out what happened, and why it failed. Why on earth am I doing these teardowns? I own and run a full service auto salvage business in the Saint Louis area called Importapart. Part of our model is buying blown, core and unwanted engines and dismantling them to resell the good, usable parts. We do not rebuild engines, we merely supply parts to those who do. I really hope you enjoyed this teardown. As always, I love all of the comments, feedback, and even the criticism. Catch you on the next one!
P.S. These engines are good only as long as you drive through the gates of the dealership and you have warranty. This internal combustion engine is one of the reasons why Ford is not doing well in the European car market...! Yes, while the engine is new, the car drives quite normally with it, but as soon as the miles accumulate, it breaks and problems are appearing much too early. In fact, these fossil fuel engines die much faster than electric car batteries...

Currently, there is a shortage of skilled workers in the EV repair sector, and filling this gap will be crucial for the industry’s growth. Many service centers are partnering with vocational schools and training programs to prepare the next generation of EV repair professionals.
High Repair CostsEV repairs tend to be more expensive than conventional vehicles due to the specialized tools and knowledge required. This has led to the perception that maintaining an EV can be costlier in the long term. However, as the industry matures, prices for EV repair services are expected to stabilize, particularly as independent repair shops enter the market, competing with dealership service centers.
Access to Replacement PartsAs of now, replacement parts for electric vehicles can be more challenging to source than for traditional cars. This is because EVs have fewer moving parts but depend on specialized components like battery cells, electric motors, and software systems. Manufacturers are working on improving the supply chain for EV parts, and this is expected to become more streamlined as demand increases.
Opportunities in the EV Repair Service Market
Growth in Independent Repair ShopsCurrently, many EV owners take their vehicles to dealerships for repair. However, as the number of EVs increases and the knowledge gap narrows, there will be a growing opportunity for independent repair shops to enter the market. These shops will need to invest in training and tools specific to EVs, but they will benefit from the growing demand for cost-effective, specialized EV repairs.
Mobile Repair ServicesMobile repair services are gaining traction as a convenient option for EV owners. These services allow technicians to visit customers at their homes or workplaces to perform routine maintenance, software updates, and minor repairs. As the convenience factor grows in importance for consumers, mobile EV repair services are expected to see significant growth.
Battery Recycling and Reuse ServicesBattery recycling and second-life applications for EV batteries offer another lucrative opportunity. As batteries age and degrade, there will be increasing demand for services that can refurbish or recycle old batteries. This not only supports the environment by reducing waste but also opens up a new avenue for businesses within the EV repair ecosystem.
Conclusion
The Electric Vehicle Repair Service Industry is set to grow in tandem with the rising adoption of EVs. With advanced technologies, evolving regulatory landscapes, and an increasing need for skilled professionals, the sector is transforming rapidly. Repair shops and service centers that invest in specialized training, cutting-edge diagnostic tools, and customer-centric services will be well-positioned to thrive in this new era of automotive repair. As more consumers transition to electric vehicles, the demand for EV repair and maintenance will only continue to rise, presenting exciting opportunities for businesses in the space.

🚗✨ Effective Vehicle Hail Damage Repair: Restore Your Car to Its Former Glory 🌩️🔧
vehicle hail damage repairHailstorms can be unpredictable and destructive, leaving your vehicle with unsightly dents and damage. If your car has been caught in a hailstorm, you’re likely searching for the best options to restore its appearance and value.
In this article, we'll explore the process of vehicle hail damage repair, covering the most effective methods, benefits, and what to expect during the repair process.
Understanding Hail Damage
Hail damage occurs when ice pellets, often the size of peas or larger, strike your vehicle during a hailstorm. The severity of the damage depends on the size and speed of the hailstones.
While minor dents may seem like a simple cosmetic issue, they can reduce the value of your vehicle and lead to further complications if left untreated. Timely hail damage restoration is essential to prevent these minor issues from escalating and to maintain the overall condition of your vehicle.
Common Repair Methods
Paintless Dent Repair (PDR):
Paintless Dent Repair is the most popular and cost-effective method for fixing hail damage. PDR involves gently massaging the dents from the underside of the panel without disturbing the original paint. This method is ideal for minor to moderate dents and leaves no visible trace of damage.
Traditional Dent Repair:
For severe hail damage, traditional dent repair may be necessary. This involves filling the dents with body filler and repainting the affected areas. While this method is more invasive and expensive than PDR, it is effective for restoring heavily damaged vehicles.
Hail Damage Repair Kits:
For minor hail damage, DIY hail damage repair kits are available on the market. These kits typically include tools for pulling dents or applying pressure to remove them. While they can be effective for small dents, professional repair is recommended for extensive damage.
Benefits of Professional Repair
Choosing a professional repair service for vehicle hail damage offers several advantages:
Expertise: Trained technicians have the experience and tools to repair hail damage effectively, ensuring your vehicle looks as good as new.
Quality Assurance: Professional repairs come with a warranty, giving you peace of mind that the work is done to a high standard.
Insurance Claims: Many repair shops work directly with insurance companies, making the process of filing a claim and getting your car repaired hassle-free.
What to Expect During the Repair Process
When you take your vehicle in for hail damage repair, the process typically follows these steps:
Assessment: The technician will assess the extent of the damage and recommend the best repair method.
Insurance Approval: If you’re filing an insurance claim, the repair shop will work with your insurance provider to get approval for the repair.
Repair Work: Depending on the severity of the damage, the repair can take anywhere from a few hours to several days.
Final Inspection: Once the repair is complete, the technician will inspect the vehicle to ensure all damage has been addressed.
Conclusion
Vehicle hail damage repair is essential for maintaining the value and appearance of your car.
Whether you opt for Paintless Dent Repair, traditional methods, or a DIY kit, addressing hail damage promptly will prevent further issues and restore your vehicle to its former glory. Always consider professional repair services for the best results and peace of mind.

Benefits of Opting for an Electric Vehicle Loan: Saving Money While Going Green
The shift towards electric vehicles (EVs) is gaining momentum as more people recognize the environmental and economic benefits of driving an eco-friendly car. However, the initial cost of purchasing an EV can be a significant hurdle for many potential buyers. This is where electric vehicle loans come into play, providing a financially viable solution to owning an EV. By opting for an electric vehicle loan, not only can you make owning an EV more affordable, but you can also take advantage of several benefits that contribute to long-term savings and environmental sustainability. In this article, we'll explore the key benefits of choosing an electric vehicle loan and how it can help you save money while going green.
1. Lower Interest Rates and Favorable Terms
One of the most compelling reasons to consider an electric vehicle loan is the potential for lower interest rates compared to traditional auto loans. Many banks and financial institutions are increasingly offering special loan products tailored specifically for electric vehicles. These loans often come with reduced interest rates and more favorable terms, reflecting the growing support for sustainable transportation.
The rationale behind these lower rates is twofold: firstly, lenders are incentivized to promote the adoption of electric vehicles as part of their corporate social responsibility initiatives; secondly, the government and various environmental organizations often collaborate with financial institutions to offer subsidies or incentives for EV loans. As a result, buyers can secure a more affordable financing option for their electric vehicle purchase.
2. Access to Government Incentives and Tax Benefits
In many countries, governments are actively promoting the adoption of electric vehicles through various incentives, subsidies, and tax benefits. When you opt for an electric vehicle loan, you may become eligible for these government-backed incentives, which can significantly reduce the overall cost of your EV.
For instance, in some regions, buyers of electric vehicles can receive tax credits or rebates, which can be applied directly to the loan amount, lowering the principal and, consequently, the interest paid over the loan term. Additionally, certain states or municipalities may offer additional perks such as reduced registration fees, exemptions from tolls, or even free parking, further enhancing the cost-effectiveness of owning an electric vehicle.
3. Long-Term Savings on Fuel and Maintenance
Electric vehicles are known for their lower operating costs compared to traditional gasoline-powered cars. By opting for an electric vehicle loan, you can start realizing these savings from day one. EVs are significantly more energy-efficient, and electricity is generally cheaper than gasoline, leading to substantial savings on fuel costs over time.
Moreover, electric vehicles have fewer moving parts than internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, which means lower maintenance costs. There's no need for oil changes, exhaust system repairs, or transmission work, all of which are common expenses for traditional vehicles. These long-term savings on maintenance and fuel can help offset the initial cost of the vehicle and the loan, making the overall ownership of an EV more economical.
4. Positive Environmental Impact
While the financial benefits of opting for an electric vehicle loan are significant, it's essential not to overlook the positive environmental impact of driving an EV. By choosing an electric vehicle, you're contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the dependence on fossil fuels. This shift not only helps mitigate climate change but also reduces air pollution, leading to cleaner air and healthier communities.
By financing your EV purchase through a loan, you're making it easier to participate in this environmental movement. Many lenders understand the importance of sustainability and are eager to support consumers who are making eco-friendly choices. This alignment of financial and environmental goals creates a win-win situation for both the buyer and the planet.
5. Enhancing Resale Value
Electric vehicles are rapidly gaining popularity, and their resale value is expected to improve as the market for EVs continues to expand. By securing an electric vehicle loan, you're not only investing in a car with lower operating costs but also one with a potentially higher resale value in the future. As more consumers become aware of the benefits of EVs, the demand for used electric vehicles is likely to increase, making your investment more valuable over time.
Conclusion
Opting for an electric vehicle loan offers numerous benefits that extend beyond just the immediate financial relief of spreading out the cost of your purchase. From lower interest rates and access to government incentives to long-term savings on fuel and maintenance, an EV loan can make owning an electric vehicle more affordable and sustainable. By choosing to finance your EV through a loan, you're not only making a smart financial decision but also contributing to a cleaner, greener future.
