I went out “for real” a couple of days ago. I mean, I’ve taken trips to the grocery store during lockdown but I wouldn’t say I’ve immersed myself into expat lifestyle to this extent in a while. I have to say, it wasn’t that bad. I had a bit of anxiety at first seeing how many people were out and how normal everything appeared despite the rise of COVID-19 here in Hyderabad. I’m not looking to go out again unless I have to but it was nice reliving part of the life I had before all of this happened. Update Time: As many of you know, India has instituted a 21 Day Lockdown. It is now day 4… or 5 (honestly, the days are kind of melting together at this point) and this whole situation has been really interesting. I’ve seen a lot of things over the past few days, mostly online and via videos sent to me. I have to say, the feelings about the lockdown are pretty mixed at this point. There are a lot of people in favor of the new measures but they are more than likely people who can afford to stay home and shelter in place. On the other hand, you have people who are not quite able to adapt to the fast-changing world we are now finding ourselves in and some have been met with hunger and homelessness (even more extreme than before). For me, I have been on a roller coaster of emotions about everything. I won’t bore you with the details here. It’s only Tuesday and I’ve already been struggling with a lack of energy to tackle my long list of tasks. I don’t know what it has been about this past year, and now leading into 2020 but I am finding it hard to get things done. I know it’s not a lack of motivation because I have tons of it. This has been the first time in a while that I’ve stayed in Hyderabad for an extended period of time without leaving for a vacation, going on a work trip, or traveling back home.
