question - i dont see anything wrong with rap music, its just personally not for me. i havent dissed it a day in my life and i would never intend to put down a subculture or anything. its just not for me- along with a lot of genres like metal and hyperpop and other things that im just too lame and vanilla for. am i allowed to just not be into it? not asking in a sarcastic way, being /gen. like am i doing something wrong?

I don't mean to be mean but I. Feel like I'm going insane. No you aren't doing something wrong by not personally being invested in rap music or hyperpop or metal. That post I reblogged and my subsequent responses to asks about it are about rap being put down and treated as inherently worse (or even "more violent" jesus christ) than music types that weren't created and popularized by black people, and unself-aware people responding by being facetious like "oh so im not allowed to have opinions I guess i should fucking die then"

Also you don't have to base your life around a random tumblr user's opinion. You don't have to be "allowed" to do anything, I have no power over you. Even if I did think you were lame you aren't required to listen to my thoughts

One of my goals for this year is to listen to a new album each week that I’d never heard before. Just wanted to expand my taste a bit. This was really inspired by Harry bc he has such a diverse music taste and seems to really know his music history. I’ve been listening to a lot of “classics” and artists he’s talked about loving too. I was already planning on listening to Rumours this week (I’ve never heard it front to back!) when I randomly got on Silver Springs tiktok last week. Truly obsessed with the song and the live performances!

What’s your favourite part about writing and are there any particular tropes or genres you prefer?

Favorite part about writing is being able to cause emotion. I absolutely LOVE it when I write something and people respond just to say how it made them feel. The more viscerally gut-wrenching, the better. I just wanna make people feel things, yknow?

for tropes and genres, I try not to be too biased. Tropes are just tools for making a story, and genres are just colors of paint, or particular flavors. A skilled writer can make any trope into a good story, and any genre appealing. Likewise, a bad writer can make any trope or genre boring. So I try to base whether or not I like a story more on how well it's constructed and written, rather than just what tropes and genres apply to it.

That said, of course, certain tools can be more fun to use, and certain flavors appeal more than others. I like anger being presented as a good thing, or at least an acceptable thing, rather than something that needs to be suppressed or gotten over. I like characters who are undeniably and unshakably good despite having every reason to turn evil. Some internal or emotional conflict is fine, of course, necessary even, but I like it when they know who they are and what they want, and their bigger problems are figuring out how to get it. No particular preference for setting, fantasy, scifi, historical, modern day, it's all fine, but I tend to shy away from romance for romance's sake stories, and/or normal guy's real life normal problems stories- I like a bit more action and adventure. I'm sure there are other things, but those are the major ones off the top of my head.

we think more people need to take chances on weird and strange games that they're unsure they'll like. because more often than not, we find that games with weird concepts or strange visuals end up being really enjoyable. and if they aren't, well. you tried something new. and that alone is worth it, we think.

i havent even read enough gl to justify the feelings and emotions i have about kyle i just have the lovers heart and also something wrong with me. and my projection. in my mind he's just like me. and he would have loved college vending machine frozen cheeseburger and heating it up in the microwave at 1 in the morning because he was bored and didn't want to work on a drawing assignment on 20" x 30" paper that was due tomorrow in his freshman year. he would have loved going to the club to push off finals work that's creating the worst stress known to man in his brain. and he would love to annoy the fuck out of his roommate when high and avoiding homework on a saturday.
