Y/N tiptoed into the dormitory, her hands shaky. She’d been awake for a good few hours, unable to get to sleep despite trying everything she could think of; counting sheep, flipping her pillow, changing clothes. None of it worked. Yet, deep down, she knew why she was so uncomfortable, and it had nothing to do with her bed or pjs. She was anxious. I should just leave now before he really wakes up, she thought to herself. However, as she was about to slip back out, Draco’s hand grabbed her wrist. 

“Where are you going? You just got here. I thought we were going to cuddle?” he asked, his words slightly slurred with sleep. Y/N sighed and wiggled her body closer to Draco’s. He wasted no time scooping her up and laying her on his chest. Once on top of him, Draco could feel her heartbeat against his stomach. He knew what this meant. The two of them had been dating for a year, Draco knew all about Y/N’s struggles with anxiety. Many times she’d arrive at the Great Hall for breakfast looking as though a bus had hit her. In reality, it was her anxiety that had kept her up all night, causing those dark circles. Draco figured it was another one of those nights, but he was curious as to why she’d sneaked into his room.

“What do you need from me, love? How can I help you relax?” he asked. In the beginnings of their relationship, he freaked out whenever Y/N was having an anxiety attack, no matter how mild it was. Now, he was educated and knew that the best way to help her was simply to ask.

Y/N sighed and lifted her head so she could look at her boyfriend. “Can you just hold me?” she asked. Draco nodded and sat up slightly to press a kiss to her lips. Then he guided her head back onto his chest and wrapped his arms around her, his fingers buried in her hair, stroking softly. He did this for a few minutes, paying close attention to her heartbeat. When it didn’t calm down, he decided to speak.

“Y/N, darling,” he called. She hummed, signifying she was listening. “Focus on my stomach rising and falling. Try to match my breaths, love. Do you think you can do that?” he asked, his voice soft and comforting. He felt Y/N nod against him, and he kissed her head, silently praising her. Then he focused on his breathing. He made sure it was slow and steady so that Y/N could differentiate it and copy it. After a couple more minutes, she seemed to have synced up with him. Draco could feel her heartbeat slowing down. A look of calm washed over her face; her eyebrows were scrunched as well as her eyes. Within minutes Draco was sure she’d fallen asleep. However, he needed to test his theory.

“Y/N?” he whispered. No reply. “Love? You awake?” he asked again. No response; she was sleeping. He stroked her back, lovingly. Honestly, he was thankful she had decided to seek comfort in him. Perhaps, together, they could prevent any more sleepless nights.

You were not pleased to hear your parents had arranged for you to marry Draco fucking Malfoy.

Neither was he, to be honest.

It’s not so much that it was surprise, it was just that it was so unwanted by the two of you.

But it made sense, you were both 20 and both your parents wanted to continue the lineage of purebloods. “You’ve had your fun,” they told you, “But now it’s time to settle down.”

Planning the wedding was probably the worst part for you. Picking out centerpieces and color schemes, it seemed so pointless. And it didn’t help that you had to do this alongside Draco. So many little arguments over stupid little things. However, dress shopping was rather fun.

When the day finally rolled around, you didn’t feel ready. Sure you’d been speaking with Draco a bit more frequently and you didn’t hate his guts or anything, but you still hardly knew this guy. Hell, some of the facts you knew about him could’ve just been rumors you’d heard while still attending Hogwarts. 

Nevertheless, you had to walk down that aisle. But what surprised you was that Draco cried. He straight up had tears streaming down his face when you got to the alter. 

“Draco, what the hell?” you whispered to him. But he didn’t reply, he just wiped his cheeks and put on a brave face. It seemed you’d have to ask him about it later.

The ceremony proceeded, you each said your vows. But then it was time for the kiss. You were frozen in place with fear. Kissing meant sealing your fate. It seemed like Draco could sense this, so he leaned forward and planted a gentle yet loving kiss on your cheek. The gasps and murmurs of the guests didn’t go unnoticied, but you hardly cared.

The two of you walked back down the aisle and prepared yourselves for a long night of partying.

Fast forwarding to a few months down the line. The two of you had been married for half a year and have been living together for the same amount of time.

During these months, you got the chance to really learn who Draco was. He had definitely matured since his school days, he always treated you with respect, never overstepped his boundaries, he even made you breakfast every morning. The first ones had been...less than satisfactory, but he’d improved a lot since then and you couldn’t start your day without his cooking.

“Good morning, darling. Eggs or pancakes?” he asked.

You smirked at him. “You know damn well I’ll chose pancakes over anything else.”

“That I do, darling. That I do.”

His mother had suggested a few weeks after you got married that the two of you should go on a date every week. And you both agreed, but then got home and immediately forgot about it. That was until Draco came upstairs one afternoon.

“Y/N?” he asked. You looked up from your book expectantly.

“Is it, by chance, your birthday?” he asked. To say you were shocked was an understatement. You had never expected Draco to care to learn when your birthday was.

“Yes...why?” you asked, suspicious of him.

“Well, it’s just you’re not doing anything to celebrate.”

You thought about lying and telling him you had plans with friends, but Draco had a knack for figuring out if someone was lying. You nodded your head, prompting him to continue.

“I thought that maybe you and I could go out for dinner? And then stop by Hogsmeade and find you a gift? It’s okay if you don’t want to I just thought...well I just thought that you should get to do something fun for your birthday.”

That night had turned out to be one of the most fun outings you’d ever gone to. Even though it was just the two of you, neither Draco nor you could stop smiling the entire time. And when you got to Hogsmeade and found a love potion in Fred and George’s store, you insisted Draco buy it for you. Luckily, it was a gag gift, not an actual bottle of amortentia. But it was hilarious to see Draco infatuated with you for a few hours. 

After that, dates became a weekly thing for the two of you. 

Who knew that it would only take you a few months to legitimately fall in love with Draco?

You remembered the first time you told him those three precious words. The two of you had been lounging on the couch one night. Your body laying on top of his as he read out loud to you. He had glasses on, you thought they made him look extra cute.

After he finished a few chapters, he laid the book to rest, sticking a bookmark in between the pages.

“Draco,” you started. He twirled your hair between his fingers, the fire crackling beside you.

“Yes, darling?”

“I think...” you paused. He waited patiently for you to continue.

“I think I love you,” you finally whispered. His hand stopped playing with your hair and instead it drifted to your face. He turned you towards him and held your chin firmly, but not too hard.

For a while, he said nothing. He just held your face and looked at you.

But then, he leaned forward and kissed your lips slowly, softly.

“I love you too.”

Since then, your relationship only grew. Unbeknownst to you guys, your parents had been talking about the probability of grandchildren in the near future.

First things first, Draco is an absolute child. Like he is the type to poke you while you’re reading or simply bug you while you’re busy.

“Y/N, Y/N, Y/N-”

“What, Draco? Christ, can I finish my homework in peace?”

“But I wanna hang out with youuu.”

While he is a child, he is also very serious and very romantic.

He’s fond of small loving gestures. Definitely not the type to ask you to the ball in front of all his friends. No, he’d ask you in a letter with flowery language.

PDA is something he only really does if he feels threatened. Such as if a guy is staring at you a bit too intently. He is unafraid to wrap his arm around your waist and pull you close.

Overprotective boyfriend ALL THE WAY

He will punch the fuck out of anyone who tries to hurt you or in general upset you. You’ve tried to get him to relax but he hardly budges on this.

“Draco, he hardly looked at me.”

“Yeah well if he looks again he’s gonna spend the night in the hospital wing.”

I also think he’d be the type to see something he thinks you’d like and buy it without hesitation. Just because he can and he loves to see you smile.

“How much did you pay for this?”

“That, my love, is information I’m not permitted to disclose.”

His silly seriousness would never fail to make you giggle. God how he adored your laugh. Sometimes he’d pinch your sides just to hear your squeals.

“If you do that again, I’m leaving!” you’d threaten him. He’d immediately apologize and dramatically beg you to stay because he’s THE drama queen. Of course he knows you’re only joking, but that boy will never pass up the opportunity to be obnoxious.

He’s enamored by you. He’d always prefer you to wear your hair up or if you have short hair, he’d like it pinned back because he loves to see your face. Hates when you hide it. He can tolerate bangs but would push them away and mess them up once the school day was over.

So we know the guys a child but also a romantic at heart.

But Draco is also very smart, he knows how to push your buttons.

Within the first month of dating he’d find out where your ‘spot’ was. As in, where he could place kisses to make you go wild.

Say it was the skin on your neck beneath your ear, this man would kiss you there every time you were giving him a hard time, or just to be a lil bitch.

“Draco, why must you bug me every time I attempt to study?”

^^ He wouldn’t even reply, he’d simply brush your hair back and kiss you gently, maybe even nipping your skin a bit. And just like that, your anger/frustration is quelled.

Jealous...he gets v e r y jealous. Is the type to give you ‘the look’ when you’re talking with other guys.

A bit needy. He doesn’t like admitting when he needs help or when he feels afraid/weak/sad, but when he works up the courage to confess these troubles to you, his gates open and he breaks down. He’s always trying to be strong, to put up a front, but especially around 6th year, he’s very hostile and visibly depressed.

He’s super emotional and needs someone to be able to care for him when he loses control.

He is quite dominant in bed, but will let you top if you really want to and if you prove to him you can.

Would never ever ever pressure you into do anything you didn’t want to do though, he is very good at controlling himself (as all men should be but alas)

The boy has a temper, but something about your touch is almost always able to dispel it. He would never ever hit you, of course, but the ink bottle on his desk may get smashed.

I also get the feeling he wouldn’t be the type to resolve issues before going to sleep. Like he has no problem storming out of your room or kicking you out of his. The next morning though, he’d get on his knees if he had to to make you forgive him. 

I don’t think he’d be crazy about naps, but he’d love if you came to his room just to sleep while he works. Literally his favorite thing is to be doing his homework and occasionally look up to see you fast asleep in his bed. And once he finished he’d go over to you and kiss your face, absolutely obsessed with you. You’d always get embarrassed when he tells you how cute you looked.

Tickle fights are a common occurrence. They get you all tuckered out and sleepy and my god does he love sleepy Y/N. 

“Is my baby sleepy?” he’d ask you. You hardly ever replied with words, opting to groan and roll away form him. He’d pull you right back tho, guiding your head to his warm chest where his heartbeat would lull you to sleep.

“Sleep, love. I’ve got you.”

As we know, he is a child. I think that when you guys are alone, especially late into the night, he’d turn into a puppy dog of sorts.

“Y/N,” he’d call.

“Yes, Dray?”

“Did you know that I, Draco Malfoy, fancy you?”

“Yes, I did. I fancy you as well.”

“Well who wouldn’t, I’m Draco Malfoy aren’t I?”

All you would do is roll your eyes and remind him that if he keeps thinking like that he’ll get a big head. But if we’re being honest, he already does.

I think he might be fond of your singing. Even if you can’t sing, I think he’d love to hear you hum a little tune. It would put him at ease.

“Sing to me, won’t you?”

“Must I?”

“You absolutely must.”

When you can’t sleep // Draco Malfoy HC

A/N: I started writing this when I couldn’t sleep. Enjoyyy

Notices right away if you’re tossing and turning

“Can’t sleep, love?”

You’d groan in response, making him laugh. Then he’d wrap his arms around your waist and drag you on top of him.

“What’re you doing?” you mumble, lifting your head to look at him. But he simply shushes you and guides your head down to his chest, stroking your hair.

“Are you comfy?” he’d ask. You’d snuggle closer to him and hum.

He’d keep one hand in your hair and the other on your lower back, keeping you secure.

If that didn’t work though, he’d sit up and put you on his lap. Then he’d rock you back and forth and talk to you. If he can’t cuddle you to sleep, he’ll get you tired by talking.

“Where’d you and your friend go in Hogsmeade the other day?”

“We went to Honeydukes. I got a lollipop,” you’d tell him, your words slurred and quiet. But Draco wouldn’t mind, he’d rub your back and keep asking you questions.

But when your replies turned into simple yes and no’s, he’d start telling you about his day. Before you know it, you’re dead asleep. When Draco notices, he gently lowers the both of you back onto the bed and holds you close.

On the contrary, he wouldn’t be opposed to staying up and hanging out. He’d probably go get you both some water and then play little games with you like never have i ever.

“Never have I ever had a crush on Professor Lupin?”

“Draco it was one time!!!”

Eventually, you two would fall asleep while giggling about the stupidest little things.

Like you’d bop his nose and he’d burst into laughter. 

Overall, he’d be very soft. He values sleep so much and wants his gf to be well rested always :)
