EXO Obsession theory - pt 2

Part 1 | Have a Xiumiñ first❣️

• Let's analyze the EXODEUX Trailer (I'll point out clues and try to decipher them!)

We see the phases of the moon. In some way this represents how half side is bright and the other dark (that could mean that EXO has to endure the fight since both parts are their own):

Crudely we understand that they have to remain in a state of balance to be the legends but RF has somehow disturbed this balance.

The trailer was released on 8 Nov '19. What if X-EXO came alive on the blood moon (total lunar eclipse)? The phenomenon had been observed sometime in Nov 1909, 1928, 2022. A solar eclipse is shown and then we see destruction. I'm confident that EXO regain powers from this as seen in Power, What is Love. And since X-EXO are their halves or smth they get powers too.

Exo Planet #4 - The EℓyXiOn vcr shows us how the exos were being chased by some unknown beings who had the same powers as them. Kai opened the portal doors and rescued them just in time. Now we know these beings were X-EXO.

Okay so first they show us what is the result of X-EXO's actions. We find that from 0:11 some member's dna turns black (at first I thought it faded and crumbled) and then Kāi is shown — it could be a hint that it's him who is corrupted as he also fades.

Then appears THE TREE OF LIFE?!! And a fire which renders it dry 😦(the mv seems to be set on exoplanet). We can see how the eye of the RF coveted the heart of the tree as was prophesied in MAMA intro.

Since we see Chanyeol's power directly harming it, I'm convinced what I discussed about him here might be true... Next we see a sandstorm and then booming thunder (Respective x-exo members shown in reverse order then)

I'm sure u must have noticed all this but from 0:32, something very interesting happens: a red drop is shown to separate from a source of water and it shines as it ascends. Suhø's (abs gjjdjd) shot is briefly interrupted by Baëkhyun - hmm.

Even in the photobooks, they have pics next to each other. This could mean that they're together in on smth. (Notice Suhø's hand on his throat, I'll discuss about this later in this post)

In the EXplOration Dot vcr, we find Baëkhyun looking at a screen. I'm pretty sure he is monitoring the other members. This leads to another theory of a binary between him and Suhø.

Back to EXODEUX, exo's powers prove to be very destructive since they've fallen into wrong hands. At 0:56 we see them facing a red celestial ball very much like our sun but creepy. Is this the eye of the RF? Another possibility is that it could be one of the two suns created as shown in Power intro because the legends separated into M & K. Once again we see Suhø and Baëkhyun facing each other:

We get a closer look at their eyes and all seem to have blue eyes:

The conclusion I make from these clues is that jongdae has learnt how to regain that balance we talked about. So my earlier assumption as discussed in part i might not be correct and it is Chen who has won the fight. At first Chën looks confident but slowly as the game progresses, it is Chen who becomes more confident - he put his feet on the table.

• Let's analyze the mv now. The first fight shown is of Baek and his evil counterpart in a match of fencing. We see that the audience is dark hooded figures with red eyes:

One thing I noticed is that when Baekhyun is shown alone, there are white lights turned on and the stands for the audience are empty. But when Baëkhyun is alone, the lights are off and some red lights glow overhead (cctv cams?).

Baëkhyun looked like he hurt himself in the fight (some people theorize he wears a face-chain to cover his wound):

I would safely assume that nobody won or lost the match. This is because both are seen facing each other even in the final shot of this set.

• Moving on to Sehun; he tries to aim arrows at his evil double Sehůn. We see how many times he has tried but missed his target. There is a similar blue target behind Sehun too:

In EXODEUX we look closely at the aesthetic of X-EXO's eyes and all of them have dark makeup or scars - all but Sehůn! His eyes are clean and pure from the influence of the RF.

In the teaser poster below, Sehůn (case 94) is the only one on whom the target is not locked!

He is never seen with his double and is trying to fake it and trick the RF!! While the other X-EXO mems look sinister/appear expressive, Sehůn seems unbothered.

He is the only member who has concept pics with a blue background. Furthermore, his nails are almost clean and not like the other X-EXO ppl.

Sehun is also the only Exo member to appear in the EXODEUX Trailer at the end. All of this is too much of a coincidence and I believe he already fought his counterpart, won and has come to save EXO as we see in his mv remake (2014):

• Now let's talk about Suho's scenes. Suho is looking around in an art gallery full of pictures based on water and waves. He is suspended mid-air in the place but a new shot shows it is much more deeper than that both literally and figuratively: he is trapped underwater and his evil counterpart is the one trying to drown him.

Suhø is standing in water with 7 unknown hands reaching out to him - this could be a biblical reference to the seven deadly sins. Since the album was released in 2019, this is a nod to my fav group's 7th anniversary. Come to think of it he has red hair styled as devil's horns (junmyeon looks so perfect oml):

A lot of us noticed that in the beginning, he is shown trying to control the members as if they are puppets (yeah well I've watched this mv in slow-mo many times)

At 1:55 we notice a choking Suhø (junmyeon confirmed this) - the imagery is very creepy. This is because if Suho drowns, his double would choke too.

Sehun shoots arrows at his evil counterpart and gets hurt himself.

The recurrent theme is that whichever side - the good or the evil one tries to harm the other, both suffer the same fate. Why? because they are halves of each other as we discussed in the beginning of this post.

Getting back to the mv, the planets start to align as this happens.

This is just like the narration in MAMA intro: ...The day the grounds beget a singe file before one sky...

The teaser posters have this "Warning" on them:

Moving on, we find out how the X-EXO are nothing but agents and creation of the RF. Notice how the screen inside Suhø's head is very similar to the ones in and outside Chen's room.

•I'd like to talk about the red glowing marks on some of X-EXO ppl. Only Sehun's and Chanyeol's evil doubles do not glow. This could be another clue that Sehůn is good. The other X-EXO mems are corrupted. Instead Yeøl appears in inverted and oversaturated colors looking demonic.

• Another thing I noticed at around 3:06 of mv Jongdae and Suho sing this for the first time:

"The turned-on exit light" instead of "The turned-off exit light" as in chorus.

The ending shows a burning planet (initially I thought it was Earth but then I noticed it looked a bit different). SM confirmed it is "half of" exo Planet. Additionally it has a deep red glow ofc hinting this is because of the RF. There is still hope for exo to recover and defeat their enemies.

The CBX thing, I definitely think SM was trying to blame them for delays with EXO. This whole tit-for-tat thing that they are doing tho has only seemed to work in CBX favor and I think SM knows this. CBX is making it clear that they not only don't intend to leave the group but also that they are participating in the comeback, and I don't think SM expected that. It will be obvious now that any missteps in this thing will showcase SM negligence more than CBX/EXO's resistance. I think that has SM siding more to come to a deal, which I think will end up benefiting the group more. SM clearly has used the group as a selling point when it comes to that buyout and stock prices mess, so their attempt at a smear campaign is kinda hurting them more. I have to say that I think SM wasn't expecting the group's loyalty and trust that not only do they have for each other, but also that they have with EXOLs.

Yeahhhhhh this whole thing was so unexpected to begin with, but what's funny is that it was NOT unprecedented. Even in just Exo, SM has already had three lawsuits! It's been a long time but I remember, I was there, so my initial reaction was just to *assume* "alright, Exo's fuckin over and done with." Like why wouldn't they be??

But also if CBX wanna stay in the group, which is not something we've ever seen after a high-profile lawsuit with this company... I think, well, good for them??? They're grown men who have been around long enough to know what they're doing and what they want. They're veterans in the game at this point. I had that much faith in them when I saw they were filing for contract termination and that faith remains, even if I don't understand their choices... it's not really something I can "understand" anyway because none of us fans really knows what goes on behind the scenes.

Yeah no the amount of loyalty that they've shown to their group is just another big shocking change that I don't know how to process, even though as I said I still support them. Because if Exo were just over now due to SM's shifty behavior, that would be entirely believable. But both the group and the legal debacle are ongoing so I'm just gonna... sit tight and eat my popcorn, for now.

“What are you doing?” Kai asked as he walked into the kitchen, watching the maknae hop around.

“I stubbed my toe when I kicked the chair.” Sehun hissed out and leaned back against the counter, rubbing the pain from his toe.

“And why did you kick the chair? What did it do to you?” Kai asked.

“Nothing! I’m just pissed! Baekhyun hyung and Xiumin hyung turned me down!” Sehun pouted. Kai rolled his eyes as he moved to the pantry and pulled out a box of cereal and went to the dish strainer and grabbed a bowl.

“Are you still on that? I’m telling you Sehun, if you want some fun I’m right here.” Kai said. “What do I have to do, line up a runway with flashing lights?” he asked.

“Can’t you see it’s not about you?” Sehun asked and stared at his best friend. “These hyungs are suddenly ignoring me, pushing me away and I have to find out why!” he said and stormed out of the room, never noticing the hurt and sadness that crossed Kai’s face.

Sehun peeked into the practice room and smirked to himself. Good, there was his prey. Even though Lay had gassed him out of his bedroom earlier that morning, Lay was the best target to get to the bottom of things. They were doing this on purpose, keeping him away. And it had something to do with Kai, but for the life of Sehun he couldn’t figure out what.

Maybe...maybe the answer lied with Kai. Yeah! He should go talk to the other and ask him what the other hyungs are planning. Opening the door, he peeked out and saw the hall clear. It was like pulling teeth, trying to figure out where Kai and Taemin went. Sehun had just missed the other when he ran out of the SM building and of course there were fans there waiting. “Good, let’s go.” Suho said and ushered the group from the room. They headed downstairs and piled into their separate vans and headed back home. “Sehun, you missed dinner. Come on, get up and eat something and you can go back to sleep alright?” Sehun felt hands touching him and rolling him over. Sighing softly, Sehun opened his eyes and stared up at his leader. “Sehun, are you alright?” Suho asked softly.

“I’m fine. Just tired.” Sehun whispered. He stared at him for a few moments before slowly sitting up. “Alright, I’m up.” he said softly.

Suho smiled and stood and helped Sehun out of his bed. “Come on, we saved you some dinner.” he said and led the maknae out of his room, down the hall and into the living room where the other members were gathered spending ‘family’ time as Suho loved to call. Sehun sat down in an empty chair, and watched as Suho disappeared into the kitchen. From the small noises the other was creating, Sehun knew his food was being warmed up and he smiled at that. Suho was always so nice and kind, taking good care of them all. He was the best leader they had.

“Understand what?!” Sehun snapped and looked up at Suho, glaring. “That you don’t like me? That I’m not needed?! I got that message loud and clear today. So just save it.”

“Sehun, that's not true. We do like you and we do need you.” Luhan said.

“Bull shit.” Sehun growled and stood, plate falling to the floor.

I love the sm first Jan free concert alot, we get to listen to alot of songs we love from artists we might not search up. I remembered I love alot of suju singles and that the tvxq singles are always fun and hype.

I also loved eveerythibg from NCT, 7th sense should be a staple in the sm concert and so should taeten song.

A replacement will be confusing for most fans though. It's not like everyone keeps an eye on WayV or k-pop news. SuperM was created to target US first of all. And there are still millions of Lucas' fans who are ready to fight for him.

I have a thought that a part of the issue around Lucas' reintroduction might be Kris Wu's case (the timing, the association, ex-Exo member). He was detained in July 31th 2021 and sentences November 22th 2022.

Exo needs to break up. They have needed to break up. That was my hot take I had been saying I'd eventually share but I never got around to it, and now it's a lot more apparent. Not that I thought this was going to happen. I thought that when I finally posted this, someone might be mad about it, but in wake of CBX's lawsuit I don't think anyone's going to be surprised to hear it.

I was sure exo members were done suing SM entertainment a long time ago. It's been 9 years since Kris and Luhan filed their lawsuits, both of whom won. It's been 8 years since Tao's hiatus, and almost 8 since he filed his lawsuit months later, which he ended up losing despite never rejoining exo. I became a fan of exo during Call Me Baby promotions when Tao was still dancing with a broken leg. I was 15 at the time, about to turn 16. EXO scandals were extremely fresh and ongoing. But those three are so far in the past now. Lay quietly decided not to renew recently, but he hadn't been able to appear with the group for 5 years so, yeah. No surprise. But I really thought it was all done when EXO-M was done for.

Well, I can tell you why I'd been thinking for a while EXO should break up. It's because they're really a thing of the past, and essentially after Love Shot, it felt like there was nowhere to go from there.

That felt like the last breath of their 5 year long prime. Don't get me wrong, it was awesome. EXO have hit after hit after hit, think of the absolute best most addictive song by your favorite pop artist, and EXO have a discography of mostly those. But they haven't grown and changed artistically or commercially as a group. They've been around 11 years, they're in their 30s now, and I don't even think most of them have the heart to revitalize their prime like Super Junior did after their military hiatus was over. Maybe a couple of them have it in them to do the pop star thing for their entire careers, but I didn't think that like, Sehun or Chanyeol were necessarily passionate about creating new music for the rest of their career. Chen has a family now and that's also something I'd like the rest of exo to afford without their huge commercial group getting in the way of that. The only one I felt for sure would not be done anytime soon was Baekhyun. I thought he'd be the new Kangta of the group, sticking around when EXO were dormant and fizzled out. I never thought SM would actually let them break up, like H.O.T did when I was a baby. But yeah, Baekhyun leaving shocks me the most. Not that I blame him. I do fully believe the allegations made in the lawsuit as SM have had such a shady reputation.

Looking at SM's pre-EXO boy groups, one might say EXO were the main successor to Super Junior, because, obviously, both groups debuted with 12 people. Large groups like that weren't really a thing in kpop before Super Junior debuted. Additionally, Han Geng of Suju was one of the first Chinese kpop idols. In 2008, two more Chinese members were added to the sub unit Super Junior-M, which released Mandarin versions of pre-existing and original Korean Super Junior songs. Hm, this sounds familiar. I only just built up a better case for the EXO/SJ argument. Diana and I talk about this sometimes though; I once made an argument that I think EXO was more a successor to TVXQ/DBSK (Tong Vfang Xien Qi/Dong Bang Shin Ki), which I would have forgotten saying if she never brought up that one time i said it ever again.

In July of 2009, JYJ threw the first brick at SM Entertainment I mean TVXQ's members Kim "Hero" Jaejoong, Park "Micky" Yoochun and Kim "Xiah" Junsu filed a lawsuit against SM for contract termination, claiming they had been coerced into slave contracts as minors. They were 22-23 at the time, TVXQ having debuted on December 26th, 2003. The three of them won the lawsuit, signed to C-Jes Entertainment and formed the new group, JYJ, of just the three of them. It was assumed the original five piece was dead by that point, but surprisingly, in 2010, Jung "U-Know" Yunho and Shim "Max" Changmin chose to stay at SM and continue TVXQ as a duo.

This whole thing is arguably the most significant scandal in the 30-year history of SM. TVXQ had been SM's biggest success to date and some argue they and Boa still are. Your faves wouldn't have cracked Japan without the efforts of those two, and if kpop didn't reach Japan in the early 2000s, the entertainment industry in a small East Asian country wouldn't have become huge across the entire planet---and frankly, if TVXQ hadn't been big internationally, they'd have been done for because SM had them blacklisted from Korean television for a decade.

Han Geng of Super Junior actually did file for contract termination shortly after JYJ did, also for mistreatment. As did Luhan, Tao and Kris as we've already acknowledged. But all four of them could move to the entertainment industry in China. Sure, you're always going to lose something by leaving as big a group as EXO, Super Junior or TVXQ, but SM hasn't been sued by its Korean idols since JYJ. Baekhyun, Xiumin and Chen know that they're putting at least as much on the line. And now, like TVXQ, more than half of EXO are no longer in the group, and the majority of the run for the both of them has had this cloud of mistreatment over their reputations. They were also both so unstoppably huge and popular.

I was in elementary school for DB5K's prime, and there were fans of kpop in the west but I can't tell you what their success across Asia looked like as someone who wasn't there. But I can tell you, between 2015-2016 when kpop gradually started to become very big, EXO for a time were bringing in more people to kpop than A Particularly Famous Group in the West I Have No Interest in Naming Because I Don't Want Their Fucking Fans Derailing My Post With Unrelated Discourse While I'm Not Even Talking About Them. Just believe me there was a time when EXO were way more popular in the west than Said Band I Decline to Specify, the eclipse that happened was gradual, and to my understanding EXO continued to be the biggest thing in Asia despite that another one eventually cracked America more and I'm not denying that they did. Point is, EXO coming first was important to all of that, because I and several others wouldnt have heard of the one kpop group if EXO didnt get us all into kpop first from 2013-15/16.

That all said now, this was all very much not how I'd wanted EXO to actually end. This is crashing and burning. Much like TVXQ, EXO is not going to be able to have a reunion after this, because they'll never receive SM's blessing to work together. I mean, EXO-M never would. 12 member EXO hardly lasted for two years though and their prime was very new when people started leaving, so to be honest, I don't know if the kids getting into EXO in the 2020s would really care to see Luhan, Tao, and Someone Sitting In Prison Whose Name I've Uttered More Than I'd Like To.

But in a similar vain, while DB5K originally split into two, JYJ are all off in different directions now. Yoochun was fired. Junsu left C-Jes and made his own label. Jaejoong did the same recently. Could you tell I listen TVXQ? But yeah, now that there are more than 3-4 people departed from EXO, they've got former members going in a lot of different directions. Someone already said it but I hope Xiumin follows Luhan back now. Back in my day Xiuhan were so cute.

Also, since I managed not to slip this into the post anywhere.... these guys have been showing up to work. Every damn day they've been showing up to work, that's another reason why it's so shocking. Chen dropped a song days ago and Baekhyun has been doing shows, posting dance practices, EXO have been appearing together for their 11th anniversary and supposed upcoming comeback. idk how clear i can be bc my feelings towards exo and their members have changed so much tbh. so i’ve basically been a fan since 2014-2015, and looking back i think their group dynamic was misconstrued. mind you, they were the no. 1 group back then and ouhh, they were hated. being an sm group, along with the exo-m controversies, i think all the shit they had to deal with made them grow closer. they were already friends, but ofc there were certain cliques within the group. but i think they’re much closer now. I think people have this perception of them being co-workers is bc they have other friend groups, can socialize, and are able to produce successful solo work, and kpop fans who love the brotherhood/sisterhood of kpop feel threatened by that. but genuinely i think they all love each other and as much as i am a bitch for saying that exo would be fine if suho and chen left, i feel like they all have a part and fit in the group really well (even tao, lay and luhan). i really love them.
