Another piece for @m1d-45. It was meant to be short but as you can tell, got out of hand.

Desperation 

You remember it well

How it sparked your blood

And got it to run

How it tasted of bitter and tang

Much like the sting of blood

You remember how it kept you alive

Made your nerves so sensitive 

It prickled with every breeze

Every slight disturbance

How it kept your sleep light

And your dreams even lighter

Even now as you watch

The archons who adorn your body

With the most precious of gems

And the rarest of treasures 

They who once tried to shed your blood

To water their blade

You see the warriors of each nation

Who tried to rend your soul from your body

Attend your every need 

Degrading themselves as objects

As lesser than human

To try and exalt you higher

You feel more than you hear

As you watch once beloved characters

Stain themselves with sin

Desperation of their own

Rising to the surface

Their desperation is monstrous 

Predator to prey

Your own desperation has not waned

It has only grown

Writhing under your skin

Fueled by fine jewelry

And bloodstained manic smiles

Through a lifetime of pain

my personal headcanon is the vees were unremarkable nobodies when they were alive. i just love it as a thematic throughline for them. they love to let the public of hell speculate on them being famed and acclaimed since before death, but the the truth is they were a d-list failed influencer that got by on cheap controversey and scamming, a broke junkie who burned every shaky bridge he ever had, and a worn-out broadcast production assistant with more rejected auditions and tossed out script pitches than he could count. nobody missed them when they were gone, nobody cared who they were until they were dead.

Growing Pains

as raven finally gets to be free from her shackles, apple silently chooses to shoulder all the pain that comes their way and bear the burdens of dealing with the horrors of the world so that raven can be happy. because raven has suffered so much and apple decides it’s only fair that she do all she can to prevent raven from any further suffering. it’s her way of atoning for all the hurt she caused raven, because apple knows raven has been and always will be a better person than her. to apple, if either of them deserves to smile, it’s raven.

Interesting character parallels in designs...

I shared a story on insta about some patterns I noticed in the designs of characters I like, one of which is based on their hairstyles covering one of their eyes; this can be usually be seen as a visual hint to their secrets/hidden lore, which then my wonderful mutual @//dorianbrightmusic noted that:

"It's always a combination of them having seen too much and them having something to hide from the common view - skeletons in the closet. The characters always seem to be leaving something supernatural and once beloved - for Volo, the celestica clan + heritage; for AZ, his royal power; Arven, his connection to the professors. The covered eye (almost) always symbolizes a change of life direction".

I told my mutual that I never thought about the having seen too much part before in relation to their designs. Subsequently, I added that all of these three characters are wearing pretty big and heavy bags/backpacks, which implicates the heavy weight of the burden they bear hidden from plain view both in literal and figurative terms. Additionally, two are shown with one hand grasping the straps, suggests, espeically once you learn their story, they cling earnestly to something of significant value they had lost/seek to find, or alternatively, not being able to let go of the past that haunts them.

Now, putting a quick disclaimer, this is just our interpretations and not some confirmed, "objective" statements and such.

So I have a couple of ways that I am considering quantifying the performance of each competitor in this competition. My ultimate goal is to make a model out of publicly available information that fits the trend here that I can use to approximate a new competitor's performance and seed it accordingly.

I may have more ideas later, but here are the ones I have now:

Option 1

Purpose

This option is an approximation of the next option. It reasons that a competitor that gets into a later round is stronger, therefore a vote in a higher round is "worth" more.

Cons

My seeding was bad (as discussed previously). It is possible that a strong competitor was eliminated earlier in the competition than expected, due to erroneously going against an even stronger competitor. In this case, its "strength points" might be underrepresented.

Option 2

Purpose

This option seeks to add up every single vote a competitor got throughout the entire competition.

Cons

Again, a strong competitor could have been eliminated sooner than anticipated due to my poor seeding. If a competitor is eliminated, they obviously cannot acquire more votes and thus would be underrepresented by this metric.

Option 3

Purpose

This option seeks to purely measure the amount of votes a competitor got on its last round.

Cons

Competitions tend to get more engagement as they progress, which results, in this case, in more votes. Thus, potential issues for the previous two options still apply somewhat. Furthermore, a standout competitor that is eliminated prematurely might have a stand-out performance in its relevant round compared to other polls.

Option 4

Purpose

To get a ratio of votes cast for the competitor in their final round to all votes cast in that round.

Cons

All of previous option, except for standout competitors being underrepresented. Additionally, it has an additional flaw of possibly counting many people's votes multiple times. Many people vote on multiple polls in a round, so their votes on other polls would count against the competitor, even if they voted for it.

Option 5

Purpose

To find the ratio of votes cast for the competitor in total to total votes cast in a round the competitor was in.

Cons

Same as above. However, it may be canceled out somewhat by people voting for the competitor multiple times over several points.

Option 6

Purpose

To find the average amount of votes the competitor got over each round it was involved in

Cons

Honestly, this seems to be pretty good; I can't think of any major flaws. However, it would be time-consuming to record.
