What are your three favorite family recipes?

Oh man, okay so this has been in my inbox for AGES (I'm so sorry!!) because I was like damn, this is such a cool ask, but honestly I wouldn't say my family has any 'family recipes' so to speak, at least not anything that I'm aware of as something that's been passed down, y'know? I think this is mostly because my mum is a fantastic cook, and generally found/came up with her own recipes rather than doing anything my gran taught her haha. I learnt pretty much everything about how I cook from her, which is what I would describe as 'a vibes-based approach', where rather than precise measurements, she'll say 'oh a bit of that, a bit of this', and also ignore half of what the recipe says and do her own thing. She makes roux sauce without measuring anything and by pouring all the liquid in at once, and just whisking it like a mad thing to get rid of the lumps hahaha

So then, following on from that, I figured actually whilst I don't really have any passed-down family recipes (other than like, my mum's amazing quiche, which I do not know how to make myself rip), I do have recipes that I've made up, based on other recipes! So I'll quickly tell you about those!

Courgette Pesto Pasta Ingredients:

Pasta (I use 50g of penne per person)

1 onion (or half if you're only cooking for one person)

Mushrooms (like. a bunch. follow your heart)

Courgette

Bacon (2 slices per person)

Pesto

Lemon Juice

Butter

So you'll need to chop up everything before hand (or, if you're like me, time it with how long it takes the kettle to boil, but I have a gas kettle that takes 5-10mins to boil, and also screams at me). So: chopped onions, sliced mushrooms, sliced courgette, and cut the bacon into little squares. Then - kettle boils and pasta goes on. By the time you're done with cooking everything, the pasta should be about ready.

Put the courgette in a small pan, and add a lump of butter, some lemon juice and a bit of some of the boiled water left over from the kettle. The aim of the game here is that the water/lemon juice is gonna boil off and leave the butter behind to fry the courgette a little before adding it in with everything else, so only have enough liquid that it doesn't quite cover the top layer of courgette. Then whack that on the heat. Grab a wok, throw some oil in and start frying the onions. After a few, throw in the mushrooms. Then, add the bacon. I personally like my wok-fried food a little seared, so when it's getting crispy, the courgette will hopefully be beginning to fry in the other pan. At this point, I usually tip the courgette AND whatever liquid is left in that pan into the wok, and start frying it all together. By now, it should have been about five or ten minutes, so test the pasta, see if it's cooked. When it's ready, drain the pasta, turn the heat down on the wok and then add the pasta. Then mix in a healthy teaspoonful of pesto for as many people as you're making it for, and that's it!

Potential variations:

So my mum makes this one differently - no lemon juice, no courgette, no pesto. Instead, she cuts up a red bell pepper and adds that into the wok after the bacon, and adds in a ton of Philadelphia cream cheese for the sauce. It tastes incredible haha. I've also made a variation on this where it's the same as my mum's version, but I add in a couple of teaspoons of sun-dried tomato pesto as well, which was glorious. And then the other day I made up a new variation, which takes my version of the recipe as outlined above, but uses grilled vegetable pesto instead of normal pesto - and then, before serving, beat one egg per person in a mug, and pour that into the wok and stir it in throughout. That was AMAZING

Quail Egg Carbonara Ingredients:

Quail eggs (5 per person)

Pasta again

Single cream

Butter

Parmesan cheese (1 hearty tablespoon per person)

Mushrooms

Bacon (again, two slices each)

Okay so you don't have to use quail eggs. However, I get quail eggs for free from work because we have like, six or seven quails HAHAH so we get a ton of eggs and most of my co-workers don't eat them so I make the most of it. This recipe is based on a recipe from a cook book that I have, but the proportions are kinda whack, so I riffed off it, and I use quail eggs because the yolk to egg white ratio works out better, I think? However, you can absolutely try and use a chicken egg - my mum tried this the other day and just used one chicken egg per person, and she said it was fine, just a lot more liquid than my version haha.

Anyway. This one is so simple. Make the sauce first: beat all the eggs together in a large bowl, then add a lump of butter and the single cream (I'm so sorry. It's like - okay, last time I made it, I wanna say I used about 100ml cream to cook for three people, and a healthy sized lump of butter. But it's a vibes based approach. Follow your heart) and then 1 hearty tablespoon of parmesan cheese per person. Yes, it's a lot. That's because this recipe is good for the soul. Anyway - important note, do NOT MIX the ingredients together. Just throw them into the bowl and let it stand. Put the pasta on to cook, and then fry the bacon in a frying pan (oh, the bacon and the mushrooms should be chopped). After the bacon is getting on, add the mushrooms. Again, we love these slightly seared. THEN. When the pasta is cooked - do NOT turn off the heat, but turn it down, and then drain the pasta and return it to the pan. Add the mushrooms, bacon and pan juices into the pan with the pasta, put it back on the low heat, and then pour everything in that bowl into the pan and mix it together. The og recipe was like 'turn the heat off, the heat of the pasta will cook the eggs!!' but I don't trust that lol so I do keep it on the low heat as I stir it for about a minute or so, and then I take it off the heat and serve it immediately. With more parmesan on top, of course.

The other three main things that I cook that are actually pretty decent/interesting come from some recipe books that I have, but they are: Sausage and Bacon Casserole, Chicken in Cider (this one is AMAZING and also so easy but looks very impressive haha), and Pork in Apple Gravy (also amazing, but less simple - you kinda make a roux sauce but use apple juice rather than milk!). I also like a lot of vegetarian food, so my mum and I work together to make a really lovely nut roast from an old recipe book, and also stir fry with cashew nuts fried in soy sauce, and I'm actually hoping to try and make a vegan version of that first recipe with pine nuts and cashews rather than bacon for my vegan friend who makes her own pesto at some point!

Anyway!! Hope the person who originally asked me this sees this lol, and if not I hope it's interesting for other people! I'm always interested in new recipes that don't involve spices because I'm very weak when it comes to heat in food (like......peppery sauces taste spicy to me RIP) so if anyone has any recommendations, send them my way!

Hard Days in Hell

(episode 1, season 1)

Hell, inside a dark cave with small lamps that barely lit the place, looked like a village, with rotten apple trees surrounding the place and houses, and in the center of the place, the large tower of the owner of the place... there were no schools, hospitals, water, only imps with bad attitudes and evil minds... except one.

admiring the sea of blood, with a small torture area for sinners, was Blitz, an imp, holding a bag with food, a little money in his hand, and a cell phone to his ear

"Blitz! Are you listening to me?! Dude, I hate when you stop talk" the harsh voice came from the cell phone, waking Blitz from his trance

"Sorry Drake, I.. I have to go home, we'll see you later... bye"

"Dude, you irritate me."

Hanging up the well-kept but cheap phone, Blitz walked to the hill, where the poorest imp lived, with shabby houses at risk of falling down, and one of them was the house of Blitz and his sisters.

Blitz walked while scratching his dark circles, tired from his last job, living as a fix it-man was hard, but that didn't matter, having food at home was his life's mission and that's how he would live, while saying good night to his neighbors, he arrived at his house, but something caught his attention, his sisters surrounding a harpy eagle, beautiful and rich-looking...

who seemed to be embroidering something, Blitz moved, his sisters noticed and went to meet him, with warm hugs, and cute "I'm glad you arrived!" "We're having a surprise for you!" "Miss Stella, don't tell him yet!" Blitz's eyes looked up at Stella, so that was the name of the beautiful lady...

"Girls... can you come inside please...?" The little girls went inside, leaving only him and her "ah.. ehh.. hi"

"heheh, hello, you're Blitz, right? Nice to meet you, sir" was a delicate and graceful voice, as she settled herself sitting on the small wall that surrounded the hill "your sisters are so sweet, they all came to me when they saw me, they said they had already seen me around the village and wanted me to do some embroidery for you, hehehe, they described you perfectly..." her eyes went up and down as she analyzed Blitz "they were so sweet that I didn't mind doing it for free! hehehe~<3"

"thank you, that's very kind of you" Blitz said as he sat down next to her "I didn't doubt they would use the money for that... can I see?" He calmly took her cute and well-made embroidery, from Blitz with a smile that he only had with his sisters, they really described him well "it's great... you did a great job"

"thanks... they said you work a lot and that it wouldn't be a very good reward, but that it would still be a great gift..."

"ah.. uh.. it's a great gift indeed... but a really good gift is them, my only family... heh... I just try to make us have a more decent life, even if..." he looked at the little money in his hands... and so did she.

"you know... I heard that the Goetia pay very well, and they don't mind having imps walking around their homes, if you save enough, you can at least.. I don't know, buy a better house"

"saving money doesn't work, where do I get money to buy food?-

"I'll buy it! I'll stay here with the girls while you work and pay for the food!"

"... do you want to be my Sugar Mommy or something? hehehe!"

"it's my way of making new friends.."

"buying them?"

"do you want my help or not?"

"hahah! I want I want... thank you Stella..."

she laughed before standing up, smiling and picking up her belongings "ah but to talk to the Goetias you need to ask permission from... you know who..." she gave a hopeful smile and left, Blitz smiled back and then looked at the tower, the owner's tower, where he would have to go... but tomorrow, now, it was time to rest...

the next morning, already in front of the tower's great gates, Blitz entered, the place was completely dark and black, with few windows that gave very little light, after we walked through the hallway, he arrived at the room of mirrors... and in the center, there was him, L, admiring himself as if he were the only one...

"sir... sorry to bother you... I wanted to know if I have permission to talk to the Goetias..." Blitz's voice echoed through the giant room...

"Yes." was the only thing he said, without even turning around to take his face away from the mirrors, and Blitz wasted no time and ran away, he felt uncomfortable in his presence, he hated having to consider that to be like his creator...

leaving the place, Blitz sighed in relief, not only for having left, but because now... it could be the chance to change his life... okay, it was time to start!

Recount of the night:

It was fun at the beginning and end but not so much in the middle. I had drank before hand, y'know you gotta pre-game that shit, and was buzzed. I was having a great time. But then I went to the washroom with a bunch of girlies to have a vape break. Some girl pulled out a dab pen, but I didn't know it was a dab pen, and I asked to hit it. Here I thought it was just a juul cuz it looked different than all the other dab pens I've seen. Boy was I wrong. I don't smoke weed, it disagrees with me and when it hit me a little while later, I felt sick as hell. I dragged a friend to the washroom to make sure I was okay while I made myself throw up, thinking I'd feel a bit better. I went back out to the party afterwards to eat a bit and then went back to the bathroom and sat, half asleep on the toilet for an hour before I said screw it and forced myself to go and party. I ended up feeling a bit better after that. But I totally regret all of it today. I don't get hangovers, but after getting sick on top of all the overstimulation of the party, I'm so tired and I'm disassociating so bad. And I'm expected to function properly in school? Hahah, nope, gonna have a lot of " Huh? Wait, where am I? " moments today.

[Hi! I’ve been sitting on this for awhile… and I apologize for that!!! I know I’ve made posts/comments on how I don’t really write for celebrities… and I really don’t lol, but I have said that I would be open to making exceptions… so here I am lol, making an exception XD 

It’s pretty short and quick though, and I really don’t know Taron as a person so it’s a little harder/awkward for me to write for/as him… where as Eggsy I super connect with and feel like I know him so well SO ITS SO EASY TO BE EGGSY!!!! But… anyway off topic lol. This is pretty fluffy and Colin makes an appearance hahah. Hope you like it my kind sweet and patient anon!

It didn’t take long for you to realize just how amazing Taron was. It was one thing to see him on the big screen acting cheeky as fuck as Eggsy, but another to witness it first hand. Not only was he charming as all hell, but had a smile that lit up the room, with eyes even brighter than that… and to top it off he had a killer personally, and his terrible jokes never failed to make you laugh. 

Which to be clear only made your crush worse. A whole lot worse… 

It was normal to have a tiny crush on some random celebrity you’d never meet– it was even to be expected, and had you known a few months ago that you’d be working alongside yours, you may have tried to mentally prepare yourself… But could you really prepare yourself for something like this? 

The answer was no, you really couldn’t.

When you got the call that you’d be doing lead makeup on Kingsman: The Golden Circle you just about pissed your pants while simultaneously crying and mumbling in attempts to form any sentences other than ‘ohmygod’ or ‘is this real life???’ and even now over 4 months into filming you could still hardly believe it. 

You were a nobody in the industry. A nothing, fresh out of school with only indies under your belt, yet here you were–

“Mornin, Y/n,” a familiar voice purred softly behind you, and in that moment like every moment before you felt a warm wave wash over you as you jumped in surprise. 

“How are you?” he voice continued stepping forward.

“Sneaking up on people is super creepy, Taron…” You spun around with a smile when he laughed; pulling your hand to your hip as you tilted your head slightly eyeing him as secretively as you could, and god damn if he didn’t look just like a dream. 

“Right. Think Colin mighta mentioned that actually…” 

You smiled to your feet then tried to look busy– moving stuff around, organizing things you’d already well… organized. “To answer your question, I’m good. Veeeery tired, but good… what about you? Busy night?” 

“Nah, just stayed in and watched something… was quite lovely actually.” he answered dropping his bags to the side not breaking your gaze once. He watched closely as you fidgeted with your makeup brushes; enjoying the cute nervous mannerisms you displayed.

“Good… I’m glad. You deserve a break.” You paused nodding as you placed your makeup kit to your waist. “Alright then get up here, and let’s see what I can do with this mess…” you offered a wink– which was ballsy you had to admit, but you were just so comfortable with him, maybe too comfortable now that you thought about it… then signaled to the chair for him to sit. 

He nodded lightly then complied not saying a word. 

Today seemed different some how. Like Taron was different… and now you could swear he was staring at you in the mirrors reflection as you styled his hair. 

You tried not to smile… to hold it back, but you felt it slipping just like the pink now decorating your cheeks. This of course he noticed as well, and in that moment he looked to his hands and pursed his lips as if in thought. 

You bit your lip lightly trying to push away that feeling; knowing there’d be no chance in hell his thoughts would be about you… In that moment you reminded yourself he was miles out of your league… that he was just nice– friendly. Charming, kind and considerate, but not into you.

“Turn around then.” You set your hand lightly to his shoulder after a brief pat, but he didn’t move. A  moment later you narrowed your eyes, trying to figure out what that look could possibly mean– Had he not heard you? “We don’t have all day do we? Pretty sure Matthew wanted you ready, oh…” you paused looking at an imaginary watch at your wrist. “15 minutes ago?”

Taron smiled this time, softer than the one he usually gave you but it was just as pure and sweet. He didn’t say anything yet, his face still lined as if he were debating something or having an argument quietly with himself. He did however turn in place finally, and when he ended his eyes looked up at you almost affectionately. 

That look was jarring… intoxicating even, and in that moment you almost forgot why you were there at all. You just looked at him, and he just looked at you. 

He smiled again, but this time he held admiration behind those azure eyes and maybe even something else… but you couldn’t think about that right now, because you had work to do and how does one even figure out what a look like that meant? Not like you could just ask him…

You finished the little that needed doing, then instructed him to turn around to bask in your masterpiece. Which… honestly wasn’t much aside from a few cuts and bruises but he acted woefully impressed as he eyed your handiwork with a wide smile. 

That smile distracted you so much you hadn’t even realized you’d set your hands on both of his shoulders. That you’d been holding them there lightly while you laughed together… but a few seconds later he raised his brows, locking eyes with yours in the reflection once more. 

It only took a split second for you to realize you were STILL touching him, and your face turned about awkwardly as you began lifting them, turning a darker shade of rose; mind rushing with anxiety as you realized the inappropriateness of it all… But before you could remove one of your hands, he slid his up and across his chest; resting it on yours, and locking your hand to his shoulder. 

You stopped suddenly with jaw laid open lightly; eyes still transfixed on his, and saying you had no idea what to do or say didn’t really cover it… so you didn’t do or say anything at all. You just stood there as he ran his thumb lightly over the back of your hand with the softest smile you’d ever seen slipping the corners of his mouth.

“Ahhh, good morning Taron… Y/n.” Colin said as he stepped into the trailer with a wide smile. If he noticed what was happening between you two, he hadn’t yet let on– He just held his jacket in one hand and a large cup of coffee in the other looking oblivious and chipper as ever.

The second he spoke you pulled back from Taron as he turned in his chair to face his old friend with a welcoming smile. You hadn’t done so smoothly of course, but Colin was polite enough not to acknowledge your falter and went on as if nothing happened at all.

“Hello to you too… we just finished up. I’ll see you both in a bit.” Taron stood then, and as he passed Colin he gave his shoulder a friendly squeeze and made his way towards the door. 

Colin walked towards you after a moment, ready to offer other pleasantries on your past weekend, but you were still focused on Taron and whatever the hell that was…

You shot your eyes to the door just before he exited the trailer. He was already looking at you, and tossed you that smile… that perfect smile as he stepped down and out leaving you with a warm feeling you would never forget and a fistful of questions.
