i love how when you apply death of the author to anonymous agony, and assume the writer is competent and is also in on how much of a lil loser haze is, every scene where haze is supposed to read someone in a too long monlouge so hard he essentially writes the author's characters for them, becomes a scene of haze being sad and making it everyone else's problem

Before Hogwarts
✦ Born mere minutes after midnight of a foggy night in May 1955 ✦ While her parents were hoping for a son to take over as the proper heir of the Black name, Bellatrix was still welcomed with open arms ✦ Grew up admiring her father while assuring that her mother's wishes were made clear for her education ✦ Was a kid with mischief and curiosity in her eyes, a burning desire to explore the world and understand every inch of it ✦ Bellatrix was overjoyed to have little sisters to take care of, determined to prove that three little girls could easily be as impressive as the desired heir that Druella and Cygnus lacked even after three children ✦ When not in dance lessons or tutored by her private tutor or governess busy running across the fields around the manor and the gardens ✦ Always saw herself drawn to the dark and dangerous yet knows when to stop before curiosity gets the best of her ✦ Bellatrix sees herself as the one watching over both her sisters, wanting them to prosper into something more than what people think capable ✦ She noticed early on that she had a fascination for history and the way of the world. Every little detail mattered and felt like the solution to a puzzle yet unknown to her ✦ When her letter for Hogwarts arrived, Bellatrix told herself that Slytherin would be her path with no exceptions. It was a choice made based on knowledge and a feeling of duty
During Hogwarts
✦ When the sorting hat was placed on Bellatrix head it was actually rather torn, questioning if Bellatrix might find a home within Gryffindor or Slytherin as she had a mind that would find comfort within either houses. It was Bellatrix who denied the notion of Gryffindor as nothing but Slytherin would do. A choice she didn't regret. ✦ Bellatrix fit right in with the others, easily becoming part of the crowd and taking charge when needed. It was all too easy when the name carried so much weight ✦ Once third year came around she joined the Quidditch team and became the Captain by sixth year, showing off her natural leading capability ✦ When rumors of a wizard determined to take charge and ensure blood purity began to spread, Bellatrix was one of the first to join up and although she isn't parading that around, the ones who know are very much aware of her alliance and intentions ✦ When Sirius was sorted into Gryffindor it almost felt like a punch to the gut, being reminded of her very own sorting that almost landed her in the house her family would have only frowned upon. ✦ Narcissa's sorting into Ravenclaw filled her both with confusion and pride, seeing only the benefits within her sister proving to be such a wonderfully smart being. Bellatrix loves both her sisters so she'll be the one to support and protect when needed. ✦ When the time to pick a major came it wasn't hard for the witch to settle on History of Magic, seeing nothing but usefulness within the one thing others only saw dry and boring nothingness within ✦ It was around that time when her parents reached out to make it clear that a perfect match was needed, their sights set on the Lestranges. Bellatrix doesn't mind and when the choice will be made, she'll be ready for it.
Future Plans
Bellatrix is aware of what's expected of her. While incapable of carrying on the Black family name it has been made clear that finding a good match to continue the bloodline at the very least on into is of the utmost importance. Yet the witch desires to have fun and live a little before settling down entirely. If life and time allows for it she desires to work in the Genealogy Department within the french Ministry of Magic or remain with the British Ministry of Magic as a curator and historian within the Department of Magical Artifacts.
Headcanons (more here)
✦ Bellatrix has taken to baking, secretly for the most part. The house elves of the manor know not to say anything because Bellatrix can get quite harsh. When not at home she can be found baking in the school kitchens of Hogwarts. Only close friends know and she's sure to make Lucius try her baked and cooked goods. ✦ Loves dark blue roses and white lilies the most out of all the flowers despite their controversial meaning ✦ Despite her strong belief in blood purity and the value within it, she doesn't find an issue with the occasional or casual relationship between purebloods and others as long as those of purer blood are aware that it can be nothing more than a game to be played and dropped at a moments notice ✦ Bellatrix' middle name 'Eris' comes from the ancient greek goddess of chaos and discord. No one had any idea just how much that would shape the path in her life. ✦ At times she finds herself torn about her sister's and cousin's houses, not entirely sure what to make of it even though in case of Sirius the step back and away from the familial bond was a lot harsher.

Toronto - June 2024 (Summer Solstice Road Trip)
Just back from Hogtown and Larry Gaudet’s “Eris” book launch. While the event was outside the traditional focus of Art Beat’s purview, the prospect of Gaudet’s artistry was not to be missed. As expected, the seasoned author and media thought leader delivered a rockstar performance to celebrate the kickoff of his latest.
“Eris” is a tech thriller with a next-level hacking storyline where entertainment and social media platforms are under terrorist attack as are the corporate elites that run them. As the suspense filled plot unfolds, it exposes the digital age cautions and media afflictions we have all consciously or not succumbed to. Literary types, business folks, friends and family ate it up as Gaudet’s teaser overview and citing of sample media diseases both amused and shook up the crowd. The presentation also featured a short video that introduced the main character and set up the destabilizing backdrop to the novel. The video can be viewed at www.larrygaudet.com, and the book, along with prior works, can be purchased on amazon.ca.
Outside of the book launch, some free time afforded the opportunity to recalibrate from the edgy literary world scene to the more serene visual experiences of a museum visit and a couple of gallery stops. On tap at the Art Gallery of Ontario, the “Moments in Modernism” exhibit offered a peek into the museum’s treasure trove of postwar contemporary works, featuring pop art, abstraction, minimalism and realism from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Except for the misleading titling of the exhibit, the eclectic gathering of works from Canadian, US and international artists was fantastic. Highlights included: Mark Rothko’s “No.1, White and Red”, 1962, oil on canvas (102 x 90 in.) and Rita Letendre’s “Daybreak”, 1983, acrylic on canvas (78 x 144 in.). Elsewhere at the expansive “Jean-Paul Riopelle: Visual Exploration” gallery exhibit, the late mosaic “Couleur”, 1955, oil on canvas, stole the show. Finally, in Prince Edward County, it was a real treat to get a preview of a couple of Milly Ristvedt works to be included in a solo booth exhibit at the upcoming Hamptons Fine Art Fair in July 2024. Both “Sweet Earth”, 1970, acrylic on canvas (27 x 75 in.) and “Ros Solis”, 1970, acrylic on canvas (27 x 71) are exceptional period pieces.
Meanwhile in Jurassic Park, it’s been quiet in anticipation of the 2024 NBA Draft to be held on June 26th and 27th. The Dinos hold the 19th and 31st pick in what’s widely viewed as a somewhat weak class. That being said, it’s characterized as such in part because of the lack of generational talents on the board. One thing for sure is that great players will be drafted. It’s just a bit more challenging to recognize them. Over to Masai and team to spot the future stars, and with some developmental pixie dust, pull a rabbit out of a hat. Or, they could trade their picks and other assets for more proven talent. The next few days could be exciting.
For more on “Eris”, buy the book. For more information on Larry Gaudet, any of the works mentioned or Dino draft day scenarios, “Just Google It”.

Psycho-Pass 3 - Episode 4 review [SPOILERS]
I think I was very vocal in my dislike for this episode, which is a pity because I thought the first three episodes were top notch. I still hope that the four episodes that are left have the same level of quality of the first three. I’m not trying to spread negativity; I love Psycho-Pass and have been waiting since the Psycho-Pass movie came out for a third season. Please feel free to disagree with me or call me out if I’m wrong. These are the reasons I didn’t like this episode:
1. There’s barely any investigation and deduction.
Erie happens to "catch” a lead regarding the professor that pulled an Epstein in the last episode. Not much is said except that a place was rented in the abolition blocks under the name of his daughter. When Arata, Erie and Tenma show up there, an AI tells them everything they need to know. It makes their job so much easier and convenient.
2. Karina is not really “evil”, she’s just a really bad public speaker who doesn’t like immigrants.
So turns out Karina is pulling a Milli Vanilli type of situation when she has a holo that has been created by the aforementioned professor to perform better as a politician and thus better influence the masses. There’s some interesting commentary by Yayoi and Arata at some point about how easy is to manipulate humans that want to be manipulated and don’t want to make decisions for themselves. Coming from Yayoi, I get it. Coming from Akane, I get it. But how does Arata have such skepticism for the system? Maybe we’d know if they told us something about his past. Oh well. Tenma made a similar comment in the last episode about how immigrants are used by both politicians as a way to manipulate the people.
3. Is this Infernal Affairs?
So we know the reason why Arata couldn’t read Karina was because she was wearing a full-body holo all the time. How holos can send our little hero into full catatonia is still to be explained. We know she’s wearing a holo because the AI told Arata, but how do the terrorists that came onto the stage know that she’s fake? Did the Bifrost, foxes, Roundrobin and all other people tell Enomiya’s guys what Karina’s deal was in order to manipulate public opinion? In that note, is the MWPSB being blatantly manipulated too? Is Erie a mole for the foxes since he’s the one who came up with the lead? Who knows if any of these questions will be ever answered.
4. Arata is Spiderman, Sherlock Holmes, an X-man, Dr. Manhattan and Harry Potter all at once.
I like Arata, I do. I just wished there was more depth to his character than knowing everything and doing everything right. The ultra-optimist character in anime is a little overused. What’s the weakness of this guy? Where’s his anxiety, his deductions, his contradiction, his conflict? Not even Akane Tsunemori is this optimistic. Him and Kei believe the system isn’t everything, but why? Akane saw with her own eyes the flaws of the system. How do these two know the system isn’t everything? It would help if they gave us a little backstory. There has to be a reason why they say things like these that in other seasons (including S2) would get at least a soft reprimand from others.
Look at that inspired face!
5. The animation
Yes, okay. This one is petty. We’ve had top quality in the first three episodes and we got spoiled. We shouldn’t expect every episode to have the same quality. It still wasn’t as crappy as episode 18 of Season 1, true. But it was still sour to the eye.
6. This stupid action scene.
I hated everything about it. It was unrealistic, silly and unnecessary. I’m still trying to figure out what the point of it was.
Interesting things about this episode and personal theories
• I do think Erie might be a mole playing for both sides and that he may be personally involved in Akane getting incarcerated. We know he was her informer. His ex-colleague tells him that since Irie started giving information to Akane Tsunemori...
• We know that both Irie and Tenma worked in the investigation where the “accident” happened. It’s clarified in this episode that it wasn’t an accident, but plain murder. An Inspector died and no one has told us who that Inspector was.
• Tenma is “protecting” Erie from getting into trouble. Why? This is the second time an enforcer hides one of these business cards.
• Still, Tenma goes and gives the cards to both Inspectors and says another non-clue to them (that the Inspector that was investigating with Tsunemori got murdered.) Was Tenma hiding the cards from someone else? From Roundrobin, Bifrost, the foxes and everyone else who still has not appeared this season? .
These two are about to meet the fool below:
I’m so glad he got punched on the nose.

Trump calls Fauci ‘a disaster’: US Election live news
President Donald Trump told campaign staff on Monday people are tired of hearing from infectious disease expert Dr Anthony Fauci and ‘all these idiots’ about the coronavirus.
The Supreme Court has said it will hear an appeal from the Trump administration on a ruling that said the president did not have authority to divert military funds for US-Mexico wall.
Trump campaigns in Arizona on Monday, while Joe Biden has only an advertisement taping scheduled before Thursday’s debate.
Early voting begins on Monday in Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, and North Dakota.
The US Election Project shows that more than 28.7 million US voters have already cast ballots, with 15 days until the November 3 election.
Hello and welcome to Al Jazeera’s continuing coverage of the United States elections. This is Joseph Stepansky.
Monday, October 19:
17:00 ET – Biden slams Trump’s comments on Fauci
Biden, in a statement on Monday, slammed Trump’s earlier comments to campaign staffers in which he said Dr Anthony Fauci was ‘a disaster’ and people were tired of hearing from him and ‘all these idiots’ about the coronavirus.
“Waving a white flag and saying “it is what it is” is unacceptable when thousands of American lives are being taken each week, when businesses are closing and schools remain shuttered,” Biden said in a statement.
“Mr President, you’re right about one thing: the American people are tired. They’re tired of your lies about this virus,” he said. “They’re tired of watching more Americans die and more people lose their jobs because you refuse to take this pandemic seriously.”
16:45 ET – Trump, in calling for re-openings, cites Barron’s coronavirus infection
Trump, during a rally in Prescott, Arizona, referenced his son Barron’s coronavirus infection in calling for schools to re-open, portraying his son’s contraction of the disease as minor.
“They got to open up the states, and let the kids go back to school…Baron Trump had it. All these young guys. Barron Trump had it. He’s 14 and he’s very tall,” Trump said.
“The doctor said…Barron has tested positive. I said oh, how’s he going to do? ‘Very good sir’. Like 14 minutes later, how’s Barron? How’s he doing doc? How’s my boy doing? ‘Sir, he’s cured,'” he said. “It took about 12 seconds.”
Trump also continued his attacks on NBC News reporter Kristen Welker, calling her a “radical Democrat”.
16:15 ET – Trump calls Fauci a ‘nice guy’
Trump softened his attack on Dr Anthony Fauci after earlier in the day called the top infectious disease expert “a disaster”.
“No, I think really Dr Fauci is a very nice man. But we let him do what he wants to do. He gets a lot of television. He loves being on television. We let him do it,” Trump told reporters.
“Sometimes he says things are a little bit off and they get built up, unfortunately. But he’s a nice guy. I like him, but he’s called a lot of bad calls. He said, don’t wear a mask. And he said, don’t ban China. They were bad calls. He admits that. And I don’t hold that against him. If I did, I wouldn’t have him. No, I think he’s a nice guy,” Trump said.
16:00 ET – New poll shows Trump cutting into Biden’s lead
Trump appeared to cut into Democratic rival Joe Biden’s lead in Pennsylvania, one of the election’s most important battlegrounds, but Biden maintained a solid lead in Wisconsin, according to new Reuters/Ipsos opinion polls.
The poll showed 49 percent support for Biden in Pennsylvania and 45 percent support for Trump. That’s down from 51 percent support from Biden and 44 percent support for Trump in last week’s poll.
In Wisconsin, Biden had 51 percent support, compared to Trump’s 43 percent support.
15:30 ET – Trump says he will test for COVID-19 before next presidential debate
Trump said on Monday he would test for the coronavirus before the next presidential debate with Democratic candidate Joe Biden this week.
“Sure I would have no problem with that,” Trump told reporters when he was asked whether he would be tested before Thursday’s debate in Nashville.
Trump announced on October 2 that he had tested positive for COVID-19, and has declined to say when he last tested negative before the previous debate held on September 29.

15:00 ET – Trump says talking to the media is ‘debate prep’
Trump told reporters on Monday that talking to the media is “debate prep”.
“I’m doing this,” Trump said after arriving in Phoenix, Arizona, when asked how he was preparing for the upcoming debate on Thursday.
“I call this debate prep,” he added.
Thursday’s debate will take place in Nashville, Tennessee and will be moderated by NBC News correspondent Kristen Welker. The topics are Fighting COVID-19, American Families, Race in America, Climate Change, National Security and Leadership.
14:30 ET – Few issues initially reported in Florida early voting
Residents of Florida began early voting in much of the state Monday with no serious problems immediately reported.
The most populous counties reported wait times of 15 minutes or less at most of their early voting sites Monday afternoon, although a few sites reported waits of up to 90 minutes, according to the Associated Press.
However, one Palm Beach County site reported a three-hour wait.
With its 29 electoral votes, Florida is crucial to both candidates but especially so for Trump, who moved his official residence to his Palm Beach estate Mar-a-Lago from New York last year.

14:00 ET – American Voter: Sarita McCoy Gregory
Al Jazeera’s American Voter series asks the same key questions about the presidential election to voters across the United States.
“I’m a multi-issue voter. And the two issues that I’d like to highlight are reforming the justice system in this country, and also healthcare. So those are my two most important issues,” Virginia College professor Sarita McCoy Gregory, who has already voted for Biden, told Al Jazeera.

13:30 ET – Melania Trump set to make first public appearance since contracting coronavirus
Melania Trump plans to make her first public appearance since recovering from the coronavirus disease, joining Trump at a Pennsylvania campaign rally on Tuesday
It was not immediately clear if the first lady also planned to address Trump supporters in Erie.
The event will be the first campaign trail appearance for Mrs. Trump since she spoke briefly at a June 2019 event in Orlando, Florida, where the president launched his reelection effort.
She addressed the Republican National Convention in August from the White House.
Mealania Trump recently announced that she has recovered from a bout with COVID-19 that included headaches, body aches and fatigue. She also revealed that the couple’s 14-year-old son, Barron, had contracted the virus, never had symptoms and has since tested negative.
13:00 ET – Biden has no scheduled public events before debate
Biden is taping a television interview on Monday, the only thing on his light, pre-debate public schedule this week.
The Democratic nominee’s motorcade rolled shortly after noon from his home in Wilmington, Delaware, to the Queen, a downtown theater where his campaign has built a makeshift studio and stage for its candidate to hold virtual events, as well as some speeches and press conferences in person.
Biden was taping an interview with “60 Minutes,” which was scheduled to air on CBS next weekend.
Biden has nothing else on his public schedule this week except Thursday night’s debate in Nashville, Tennessee. His campaign says he plans to use the bulk of the remaining time preparing for the second and final time he is scheduled to face off with President Donald Trump before Election Day on November 3.
12:30 ET – 28.7 million Americans have cast their ballots
With 15 days until election day. Over 28.7 million US voters have cast their ballot, according to the University of Florida;s US Elections Project.
The number equals 20.7 percent of all votes counted in the 2016 presidential contest.
As of Sunday, the tracker noted that about 5.9 million citizens had cast their ballots in 2016 at a comparable point in the race.
12:00 ET – Trump tells campaign staffers people are tired of hearing from Fauci, ‘and all these idiots’ about coronavirus
Trump has told his campaign staffers that people are tired of hearing from top infectious disease expert, and member of the White House’s coronavirus task force, Dr Anthony Fauci “and all these idiots” about the coronavirus, according to the Associated Press.
Speaking Monday during a phone call with campaign staffers, Trump also called Fauci a “disaster” but said he’d create bigger issues for himself if he fired the doctor, the news agency reported.
In an interview that aired Sunday on the CBS 60 Minutes programme, Fauci said he was “absolutely not” surprised that Trump contracted the coronavirus, and called a White House Supreme Court nomination a “superspreader event”.
Fauci also noted that the administration has been limiting his media appearance.

11:30 ET – Biden again tests negative for coronavirus
Biden has again tested negative for coronavirus, according to his campaign. The former vice president has been regularly tested during the campaign.
Trump had tested positive for coronavirus on October 2, just days after the candidates faced on in a debate. His doctors have since said he is no longer contagious.
Last week, Biden’s campaign announced that a passenger who had flown with Biden on at least two occasions had tested positive for coronavirus.
That person had been at least 50 feet from Biden and the former vice president had worn a mask during the flight, according to the campaign, who said the candidate’s level exposure did not warrant quarantine.

11:00 ET – More US voters say election outcome matters than in 2016: Poll
A new Gallup poll has found that 77 percent of registered voters believe the November 3 election matters more than any other previous election, an increase of six percentage point.
That number is the highest since 1996, when Gallup began documenting the trend.
Meanwhile, 2 percent of voters say the election matters less than in the past and 21 percent think it matters about the same.
10:30 ET – Supreme Court to review legality of Trump’s ‘remain in Mexico’ asylum policy
The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to decide the legality of one of Trump’s hardline immigration policies that has forced tens of thousands of migrants along the southern border to wait in Mexico, rather than entering the US, while their asylum claims are processed.
The justices will hear a Trump administration appeal of a 2019 lower court ruling that found that the policy likely violated federal immigration law. The “remain in Mexico” policy remains in effect because the Supreme Court in March put the lower court’s decision to block it on hold while the legal battle continues.
The Republican president has said the policy, which took effect in January 2019, has reduced the flow of migrants from Central America into the US. Restricting both illegal and legal immigration has been a central theme of Trump’s presidency. He has sought to reduce asylum claims through a series of policy and rule changes.
10:00 ET – Early voting begins in key swing state of Florida
Florida begins early in-person voting in much of the state on Monday as the Trump campaign tries to cut into an early advantage Democrats have posted in mail-in votes in the key swing state.
With its 29 electoral votes, Florida is crucial to both candidates but considered all-but essential to Trump, who moved his official residence to his Palm Beach estate, Mar-a-Lago, from New York last year. A Florida loss would make it nearly impossible for Trump to reach the 270 electoral votes needed to retain the White House over Biden.
About 2.5 million mail-in ballots have already been cast, with Democrats returning 1.2 million and Republicans about 755,000 as of Sunday, according to The Associated Press news agency. Non-affiliated voters and third-party members make up the rest. The number of mail-in votes is already approaching the 2.7 million cast in 2016. Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in the state by about 113,000 votes.
09:30 ET – Supreme Court to hear Trump appeal of ruling against border wall funds
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear an appeal by the Trump administration of a previous ruling stating the president overstepped his constitutional powers by diverting military funds to pay for his promised wall along the US-Mexico border.
At issue is the legality of the president’s decision, after Congress refused to appropriate money he sought for the wall, to shift other funds already provided by legislators for other purposes.
Trump’s administration appealed a lower court’s June 26 decision that it lacked the authority to shift the military funds towards the border project because the so-called Appropriations Clause of the US Constitution exclusively grants the power of the purse to Congress.
09:00 ET – In campaign rally, Trump says Biden will ‘listen to scientists’
In a Sunday night campaign rally in Nevada, Trump told supporters Biden will “listen to scientists” if elected – a comment apparently meant to disparage the Democratic challenger.
Trump made the comments while warning of more future lockdowns if Biden is elected. Despite a recent spike in hospitalisations and cases in some states, in what public health experts have called a third wave of the virus, the president has continually emphasised the need to move faster with reopenings to support the economy.
In stark contrast, Biden has repeatedly prioritised public health and said he would support future lockdowns if health advisers said they were warranted.
“He’ll listen to the scientists,” Trump told supporters in a mocking tone. “If I listened totally to the scientists, we would right now have a country that would be in a massive depression instead – we’re like a rocket ship. Take a look at the numbers.”

10/30/19 Rewatch
10/30/19 Rewatch (Japanese) 09 - Memories of a Feather
Hm. I wonder if Mom Kanzaki really does know something about Grandma’s trip to Gaea, because of Amano’s emotions can get the pager message to Gaea, certainly Mom’s could too. Or Dad’s.
You act like you’re a child Millie. You’re making progress but still for the wrong reason.
Huh. I just noticed the shadowy contrast of gold and silver between Millerna and Eries. Millerna’s all golden and Eries is all silvery, except for her hat gem and a tiny bit of silver hair against her hat’s veil. It's pretty.
Baby Van and Baby Merle!
I love Varie’s head-tilt when Goau asks her name. I do wonder at her backstory. How long did she know about the prophecy? Did she live a life of fear and hate, chomping at the bit of her destined cage? Did she know that Goau would be a loving husband? Was she told mere days before? Hours? WHERE ARE THE OTHER DRACONIANS??
I wonder if Varie had to practice letting her wings out and keeping her clothes in one piece.
We discussed previously what might have happened to Varie. It must have broken her heart to not go back to Van, because I don’t think a dragon would have killed her.
…. I wonder if Dornkirk has even the slightest touch of Atlantean ancestry…? Hm. Who is Dornkirk talking to? ‘Why won’t you show me?’ Do crazy inventors think of their machines as alive? It should be ‘Why won’t it show me?’
We’ve mentioned this before but it's crazy stupid ridiculous that Allen and the CC show up when they do.
Allen… that’s not careless… That’s called caring.
‘Daily runs.’ So either Rampant and Godashim aren’t that far apart or leviships can be really fast. Also. Daily trading. Close/good ties between countries.
