it's been soooo long but here it is
ex-husband!zhongli but in modern au.. zhongli is known for his indifference and the fact that he can hide what he's thinking and feeling, well except... the fact that he absolutely despises how his new coworker Childe is too close to his ex-wife. they're too close for his comfort even though they just met recently and they've been talking for so long his eye twitches from irritation. he sips his beer and then one of his kids approaches him.
"daddy? are you jealous?"
seems like he's bad at keeping that jealousy under wraps yikessss

A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE. ( zhongli x reader )
╰┈➤ you always believed in christmas miracles, but he took this concept to another level for you.
pairings — zhongli x fem!reader.
warnings — reader and zhongli are single parents before meeting each other, t*xic relationship (not with zhongli), mentions of domestic v*olence and ch*ating, a bit of misogyny and overall prejudice of the society with single mothers, fluff with children and between the parents, sugestiveness at the end.
word count — 5k
notes — this is a repost from the beggining of the year bc i had some problems back then, but this fic was supposed to be a christmas one and for zhongli's birthday. either way, it's now here! reblogs and feedbacks are appreacited <3
you’ve always loved christmas.
it was a time when everything was magical, especially when you were a child, but such a magic didn’t die when you were growing up — it actually only grew, especially after you had your daughter. her father, your ex-husband, wasn’t the biggest fan of christmas. zandik was a doctor, and a logical one, and he almost spilled to your daughter that santa wasn’t real in the last christmas you three spent as a family, though you couldn’t tell if he was being mean or the idea of santa claus was so illogical that he didn’t comprehend why your daughter should believe it.
either way, nahida still believed in santa, and you were sure your boyfriend and his children would do anything to keep such magic in your daughter’s life — and you couldn’t be more grateful.
ganyu and xiao were two sweet hearts, accepting to go shopping with you to buy presents for your daughter and their father. it was a tradition that was passed down from your father to you, always bringing you along when he went to buy presents for your mother and siblings — you loved nothing more than to choose what they would be given, and seeing their eyes lighten up with the perfect gifts you had chosen. you used to take nahida with you, too, when you and zandik were still together, and you knew she loved to see the small smile on her father’s face when he opened his gift and saw the shirt or the new white coat his daughter had chosen for him.
but that was in the past now, and your ex-husband didn’t want anything to do with nahida now.
it was a shame, though. despite the bad way your relationship ended — with him cheating on you with one of his coworkers while you stayed at home taking care of your little treasure and doing everything to please him — nahida was still his daughter, a child that he had spent hours and hours talking when she was still in your belly, a child that he had treasured and did lots and lots of plans with you while she laid on his bare chest in a warm night of summer. but ever since your divorce, he hadn’t made any effort to be present in his daughter’s life again, but it didn’t seem like nahida was missing him.
your boyfriend was a better father figure to her, anyway.
after your divorce, you didn’t have anywhere to be — your ex husband made you quit your job after you got pregnant, so you could put all your energy into taking care of your baby and raising her the bestest you could. your best friends, cyno and tighnari, offered you a place to stay until you had a job and a good income to be able to live on your own with nahida, and you couldn’t be more grateful to them. if it wasn’t for them, you wouldn’t have been hired in your boyfriend’s company as his secretary and become the neighbor of his younger brother, who played matchmaker for the both of you.
zhongli was a kind boss, always understanding when you needed to call a sick day whenever nahida needed you, to the point that rumors about your involvement began even before you two were actually together.
apparently, he had always looked at you with a lovestruck expression that everybody saw except you — because, in your head, how could a man as successful as him, as handsome and kind as him, would look at you with love in his eyes instead of pity? with a failed marriage and a little girl to take care of, you had already made up your mind that you would never find love again. but zhongli was stubborn and would do anything to show you that he was different than your ex-husband, his plan coming to fruition when you found a job in your actual line of field, with venti’s and ei’s help.
you were, at first, a bit hesitant in opening your heart again for another man. but you came to know that you and zhongli had passed by the same situation, a cheating wife that left him for her new affair, leaving two small children for him to take care of. if it wasn’t for venti and ei, in the words of the said younger brother of your ex boss, zhongli wouldn’t be able to raise his children to be such good kids. another thing that made you more prone to open yourself to him was the way he treated nahida, in such a care that you never saw your husband treating her — zhongli always coaxed giggles and giggles from her, and you knew you were in love with him watching him play with your daughter as if she was his own.
now, after one year of being together and two months of living as a family, it was the first christmas you five would spend together.
“aunt y/n, do you think daddy will like a new shirt? we can buy it blue to match with my hair!” ganyu’s excited voice took you from your thoughts, and you smiled at the young girl, nodding at her words, like xiao glared at his older sister.
ganyu and xiao were nine and seven, and the kindest children you ever met. they had accept you and nahida in their lives as if you both had always been a part of it, and the three of them had a very special bond — none of your friends had children on nahida’s age, and it was good to see the sibling bond she was forming with zhongli’s children. she and ganyu became sisters in less than a day, and while xiao was shyer than his sister, nahida was already calling him big brother by the end of the first week you all were living together. you and zhongli couldn’t be happier, being able to be together and watching your children getting closer — he’d always whisper how good of a mother you were while kissing your forehead, making you hide your face on his chest due to embarrassment.
“i think he will love one.” you agreed, hand messing ganyu's blue curls. “but maybe for his birthday? we need to remember that we need to buy two gifts for daddy.” sometimes it was bothersome the fact that your boyfriend's birthday was in the new year's eve, a date when people were already celebrating, but you tried to make it more special for him — zhongli's birthday celebration started as soon as he wake up, and it went through the whole day. he would turn thirty-four this year, and you wanted to make it as special as you wanted christmas to be.
“why didn't daddy choose a better day to be born? like us, or nahida!” xiao's complaint was cute, his hand clutching your skirt and his brows furrowed in an unhappy face.
you smiled at the younger boy, watching as ganyu looked at the dress shirts in the store. “we don't choose the day we're born, little man.” it was cute how he still flushed at your pet names for them, and you wondered if someday he'd grow too tired of them and ask you to stop. you hoped not, because both of them, ganyu and xiao, already had their special places on your heart — right at nahida's, but you feared it was too soon to call them like that.
“hmpf.” he pouted and you giggled, fighting the urge to pinch his cheeks and call him cute.
“aunt y/n!” ganyu called you, a beautiful blue dress shirt in her small hands. “i'm sure daddy will like this one! it's like my hair!” she proudly exclaimed, a smile full of white teeth adorning her chubby cheeks. but before you could answer, you heard an irritated sound coming from xiao’s mouth, who was still clutching your skirt, narrowed eyes looking at the shirt his sister chose.
“what about my hair then?” he asked and you sighed, knowing it would take a while to make those two agree on something.
—
zhongli smiled seeing the christmas’ lights shining on nahida’s green eyes.
he had always worried about his relationship with your child, even before you two were a thing — it was embarrassing how much he had daydreaming about being in a relationship with you, a thirty two three old man fantasizing about his twenty-seven secretary, but he couldn’t help himself. not when you smiled so sweetly at him, always making sure that he had a cup of water and coffee with him and that he wasn’t overworking himself. you were zhongli’s dream woman, and he knew he needed to court you properly.
you first told him about your daughter in a rainy day, after you had received a call from your friends, eyes glossy with tears — you explain that she had a fever through the whole night and you left her with your best friends so you could work, but it seemed like her condition was worse since you left. zhongli didn’t think twice about offering you a ride to your friends’ house then to the hospital, his heart contracting itself seeing your distressed face. you reluctantly accept, and the rest was story.
that day was the confirmation that you needed that you should accept his moves on you, already searching for a new job so you could fully welcome zhongli in your life. the way he made nahida feel safe, despite the doctors' scaring and the needles in her little body, made the tears you were holding back to fall from your eyes — your ex-husband’s last words ringing in your head, of how much of a bad mother you would be without him and his help.
now, zhongli was walking hand in hand with your six-year-old daughter through the jewelry store, trying to look for the perfect ring to propose to you.
“what gem do you think mommy would like, nahida?” he asked, his amber gaze eyeing some diamond’s rings on display, hands unconsciously reaching to take nahida between his arms so she could help him choose. she nuzzled between them, sighing contently before casting her green orbs on the rings and gasping softly. zhongli suppressed a chuckle — he missed when his children were small and innocent like her.
she pointed to a gold one with some green details, the diamond shaped in a heart with some emeralds around it. he wasn’t surprised though, as her favorite color was green — even the tips of her hair were dyed green, a courtesy of the day she, ganyu and xiao spent with venti. “that one, uncle ‘li!” she exclaimed, her face lightening up at the thought of your finger adorned with it. “but why are you gifting mommy it, uncle zhongli? my papa used to give her clothes or books.” nahida was the most intelligent and curious kid zhongli ever met, and he knew she’d ask why he wanted to give you a ring — though the mention of her father brought a sour taste to his mouth, he could never be angry at her for bringing him up.
she was too small to understand how much her father made her mother suffer.
“well,” he started, smiling at the vendor and pointing to the ring nahida liked. “i want to marry your mommy, and i’m going to ask her with the ring i’ll buy today. do you think she’ll accept it?”
he didn’t want to admit it, but his heart was hammering inside his chest like he was a teenager once more — nobody knew about his plans of proposing, and zhongli wanted to keep things a surprise to everyone, but he knew he needed to ask nahida’s permission first. she was your entire world, just like his children were his, but he wanted to make a space for himself there, like you and your little girl had on his. and nahida’s acceptance was what he needed to feel confident enough to ask you those three little words. he knew you wouldn’t do anything that would hurt or put her in danger, and he couldn’t blame you. you were a single mother in a world that looked down at you with disdain in its eyes.
though, nahida’s words caught him by surprise. “you promise you won’t make mommy cry like my papa did?” he looked puzzled at her, though he understood what she meant. “mommy thinks she hides things from me, but i’m not dumb. i remember when papa left us, she cried so much! and i don’t want to see her crying again.” she hid her face on his neck and zhongli sighed, stroking her back.
“i promise, my sweetness. i will never make mommy cry sad tears, alright?” he almost didn’t notice her small nod, but he felt her small hands gripping the back of his dress shirt tighter. “does that mean i can marry mommy?”
his heart felt more at ease when he heard her giggles. “of course!” nahida exclaimed while coming out from her hiding spot, a big smile on her face. “does that mean you’ll be my daddy, too?” as much as her voice had excitement on it, zhongli could recognize a bit of shyness, alongside the soft pink dusting her cheeks — but he felt his heart warm, and even though nahida didn’t know that, he already considered her his child, his youngest daughter. and to know that she wanted him to be her father figure was better than any other scenario he could think of.
“yes, i’ll be your daddy too, my sweetness.”
—
you looked down fondly at ganyu and xiao, both of them looking at their ice creams as if they were the richest treasure in the world.
at the end, they decided to buy a blue shirt as zhongli’s christmas’ present, and a gold wristwatch, with his black ornaments, as his birthday present. it was adorable to see how dedicated they were to find the perfect gift for their father, debating and arguing to try to find what he would like the most — in the end, you knew zhongli would use his gifts to work, showing his employees how cute and thoughtful his little angels were.
“this ice cream is so good, mommy.” you smiled, at first, hearing xiao’s words, napkin ready to clean his lips off the almond cream around it — but you stopped dead in your tracks when you noticed how he called you.
you never wanted to take their biological mother’s place in their lives, though zhongli always said that she never loved them like a mother should — she saw them as a way for him to continue married to her, so she could maintain her lifestyle as a ceo’s wife intact, partying and cheating on him behind his back and leaving his children to be taken care by nannies. once, he admitted to you that his biggest regret was choosing such a woman to be the mother of his children, whispering soon after that what happened to him and her led him to you, and zhongli couldn’t be more grateful. hearing him calling you that, although, filled your heart with warmth and your smile grew wider.
xiao was more introverted and reserved than ganyu, perhaps because of the so little time he spent with his mother before she and zhongli divorced. you thought he would be the last one to call you that, and you would be alright if he never did — the love you felt for them and the love they felt for you couldn’t be described in just a simple title.
“you’re getting your mouth all dirty, dummy.” as a good older sister, ganyu scolded him gently, though her mouth was dirty with some of the chocolate toppings of her ice cream. “it isn’t mommy’s job to clean you.”
you didn’t know if it was influence of her brother or just the mood that made her call you like that too, but you swallowed the lump in your throat. “it is mommy’s job to clean him, baby. it’s mommy’s job to look after the both of you, and nahida, and daddy too.” you tried to explain, napkins ready to clean them both. they giggled and, to any onlooker, you looked like a happy and small family — as you were, though two components of it were missing.
however, your giggles died down when you spotted familiar curls of light blue hair and a pair of red eyes looking straight at you.
you could recognize zandik’s eyes anywhere you went — they were sharp and calculating, the emotion shining on them always indecipherable. you used to find them beautiful, especially in the early days of your relationship with him, when they used to shine and sheer adoration, but now they only brought a sour taste to your mouth. but as soon as you noticed his presence there, you returned your eyes to your children, continuing to smile at them.
“mommy!” before you could say something, you heard your sweet girl’s voice, her small hands waving at you while she was perched comfortably between zhongli’s arms.
“daddy and ‘hida are back, xiao!” ganyu exclaimed, feet already taking her to where her father was standing. you offered your hand to xiao, who took it with more enthusiasm than normal, you two followed his big sister to finally find the two other members of your family.
though you could still feel your ex-husband’s gaze on your back.
you sighed relieved when zhongli’s arms embraced your body, burying your face on his neck — his sandalwood scent managed to ease your heart a bit, though you were still waiting for disaster to happen with zandik around. you heard the girls’ giggles and xiao’s little ‘tsk’ at your display of affection, and you could feel your boyfriend’s smile while he kissed your lips.
“i hope these little rascals didn’t give you any trouble, my dearest.” he spoke, voice deep and soothing, as if he could sense your distress at the moment. you smiled, shaking your head, while ganyu and xiao snuggled themselves in your sides.
surprisingly, xiao was the first one to speak. “we would never give mommy any trouble, daddy.” you watched as surprise and pure love passed through zhongli’s features, his eyes the warmest you ever saw — it was as if he had dreamed about the day his children would finally acknowledge you as their true mother, despite the blood running through his veins. ganyu nodded and joined her brother’s chorus, nodding.
“you’re the only one who we give trouble to, daddy!”
you ruffled their heads. “i hope my little rascal didn’t give you any trouble, my love. i know how curious she can be.” you returned his question to him, hands still caressing xiao’s and ganyu’s hair, winking at your little girl who giggled between zhongli’s arms, that being your favorite sound in the world. she looked so at ease and at her place being nursed and loved by him, as if he was the one supposed to be her father from the very beginning.
“my fault. she inherited it from her father, i suppose.”
you didn’t remember his voice being so cold, as if it was the chill of the first snow of the year — it wasn’t fitting no, as your husband hailed from the west, from a place that never snowed. maybe it was the influence of some of his coworkers from the north, but you still remembered when that voice used to be your source of peace and comfort. “zandik.” you greeted him, not bothering to turn around to look at him, more concerned in protecting your children from his venom. they seemed to understand how dangerous he was, clinging to you even more.
though, the worst part was watching nahida’s expression seeing her father after so long. her eyes were wide, but her lips were trembling and her small hands were clutching zhongli’s shirt with a strength you never saw before. you wanted nothing more than to just take her away from here, but zhongli’s expression told you he was willing to protect her like you would. it hurt you to know that your daughter was aware of the monster her father was, and you felt as if you had failed your mission to protect her childhood innocence.
he chose to ignore your presence, focusing his attention on zhongli and nahida, as if his ego was hurt by the fact his daughter didn't run straight to his arms. “why a strange man is holding my daughter, y/n?” you turned to face him, instinctively putting ganyu and xiao behind you, hoping to protect them.
“he's my boy—”
“he's my daddy!” nahida's voice cut you off, leaving everyone speechless. “he's going to marry mommy and not make her cry like you did, papa.” she explained, voice quiet like a feather reaching the ground after failing — though, to you, her words resonated inside your head, for two reasons: she was too young to be worried about someone making you cry.
and zhongli wanted to marry you.
zandik answered with a dry chuckle, his eyes shining with the same anger it did back then. “what poison about me did you feed to my daughter, you bitch?” you watched as his hand started to move towards your figure, and you closed your eyes, memories of the day when you confronted him about his cheating played in your head — the screams and the tears, the harsh words and his hands bruising your face.
though, the impact of his fist in your jaw didn't happen again.
you opened your arms to see zhongli in front of you, nahida being supported only by one of his arms but looking worried at your shaking form, his other hand holding zandik's arm, fingers squeezing your ex-husband’s wrist — even ganyu and xiao got away from their hiding place, now in front of you, as if they were ready to protect you.
“do not ever dare to touch my wife like that again, scum, or i will make sure you regret messing with my family again.” zhongli said, voice firm and demanding. “get out of my sight or else nobody in this world will make me stop hunting you for hurting y/n.”
—
it pained him to see you like this.
zhongli could see how strong you tried to look for the children, especially nahida. after the encounter with her father — and his boyfriend now, the same man who zandik had cheated on you with, who was lurking in the shadows until zhongli stepped up — she was visibly shaken up, not leaving your arms until your little family arrived home. in the walls of her safe place, nahida regained her light, and xiao and ganyu seemed relieved, ready to play with his little sister.
nor you or zhongli touched the subject in front of them, and he was waiting for night time, the only time when he was alone with you in the confines of your shared room, to extract your real feelings. he could see how your smiles didn’t reach your eyes, or how your laugh seemed forced — it seemed like the kids did too, all three of them snuggled in your arms during the movie you were watching, while you were snuggled at his side. he couldn’t ask for anything better than to have the love of his life and his children safe in his arms, though his mind was running miles trying to find a way to make your husband pay for what he made you and nahida go through.
another thing that he wanted to discuss was the little secret nahida spilled.
he didn’t blame her, of course. zhongli understood it was her way of protecting him and her mother from her father’s words, and he couldn’t be more grateful for her actions — it was a testimony of how well you were raising her, and also a testimony that you both were better without the shadow of zandik looming over you. nahida now had space to grow her opinions and be whatever she wanted, and zhongli was happy that he was able to provide such an environment for her, alongside you.
the sound of the door opening made him tear his eyes from his book, gentle gaze now focused on your form. you were wearing some pajamas pants and an old t-shirt of his, and he swore you looked the most beautiful you ever did looking like that — perhaps, you in a white dress walking down the aisle to meet him could beat such a sight. he opened his arms and you took no time to just jump between them, face nuzzled on his neck, his warm hands drawing circles on your lower back. you sighed contentedly. “how is she?” he knew you were putting nahida to sleep, being the one who aided you in putting the children in their respective rooms, staying a bit more in her room to make sure she was alright.
“she’s still a bit shaken up.” you answered, voice muffled by his shirt. zhongli tightened his arms around you, kissing your hair. “i explained to her that zandik will never take her away from us, but she made me promise it at least three times.” your chuckle was a sad one, and he feared you bursting into tears for someone who didn’t deserve it — though, he couldn’t help and feel warm inside by the fact you included him and his children in your family.
he kept his silence, only humming, knowing you had to say more. “why is he like that? why i couldn’t see how horrible he was from day one?” you seemed defeated, and his blood boiled at the sensation of your tears soaking his shirt.
zhongli knew very well how you felt. “love normally clouds our senses, dearest.” you took your face from its hiding spot, meeting his amber eyes — gentle and shining with endless love for you, making your heartbeat race just like in the first time you saw them. “but he will never try to approach you or nahida again, do you hear me?” he held your face between his large hands, thumb caressing your cheeks in a loving way. you nodded, giving him a smile that resembled your normal ones.
“i wish you were nahida’s father from the start, ‘li.” you admitted, a pout on your lips. he pecked them briefly, almost giving you no time to melt into the kiss, kissing your forehead soon after.
he helped you to get up from his embrace, legs straddling his thighs, while taking a small black velvet box from under your pillow. “if you say yes, i can.”
you looked between him and the velvet box as if you didn't understand what was happening, but in reality, you couldn't believe it. why zhongli, a man so fine like the most delicious wine, wanted to marry you? a poor excuse of a woman and mother, who still got shaken up with the presence of her ex-husband? you knew he deserved someone so much better than yourself, but you wanted to be that person — but the tears were already glossing your vision and your head came to rest on his chest, his hands holding you close to his body.
you cried like a child, the velvet box between your hands and zhongli's long fingers between your hair. his warmth was almost soothing you, almost whispering that you were made and born to be in that position, between his arms and feeling his love for all eternity.
your sobs calmed in the same intensity zhongli's love professions became more and more passionately, his words making you see that even if you didn't feel like you were deserving of his love, he felt like you were. and that was enough, you came to realize — zhongli's love was his to give to anyone he deemed worthy of, and he deemed you and your daughter worthy of his endless affections.
“yes.” you whispered against the pale skin of his neck, now a bit red from the small love bites you gave him after you calmed down. the velvet box was still resting in your hands, and after giving his neck another kiss, you positioned yourself to face him and his amber gaze, eyes already tearing up by the love shining on them.
zhongli's hands were ready to open it, showing you the most beautiful ring you ever saw in your life — a gold band with a heart shaped diamond in the middle, some emeralds, as the same color as your sweet girl's eyes, around it, making the ring perfect for you. you nodded again, heart racing when he took your hand in his and put the ring on your finger. as soon as you felt the cold band in your warm skin, you cupped his face, bringing his face to meet yours in a passionate kiss.
“thank you.” zhongli whispered against your lips after he broke the kiss, and you smiled, though not ready for his next words. “thank you for loving me, for choosing this scarred and brute man to be your husband.” you just stroked his face, letting him talk his heart out. “thank you for being the best mother for nahida and now to ganyu and xiao.” his lips soon found your face once again, now caressing your cheek. “i love you.” he whispered with his nose on your cheek, his plump lips pressing a big and sloppy kiss there, his hands now roaming through your body — you knew what he wanted, already grinding your hips against his.
“you'll make me cry again.” you managed to say between the shaky breaths leaving your mouth due to his wandering hands. “i— ah— love you.”
both of you couldn't wait to be intertwined as one for eternity, expressed by the sounds and movements of your bodies — and the proposal would always be remembered by you as one of your christmas's miracle.

Your newest post about yandere husbands got me thinking about how would they react if lets say a little divorce was to get suggested...By suggested I mean left on their office desk, ready to he signed as their precious (ex) wife is already out of the house
Even tho I'm not doing ask right now, this is too good to resist, and when I was reading this the song "divorce, beheaded, died" pops up
𝐃𝐈𝐕𝐎𝐑𝐂𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐘𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐍 𝐇𝐔𝐒𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐃
You leaving divorce papers on his table and leaving without a word , leaving him in the cold
Characters : ayato, diluc, kaeya, zhongli, alhaitham, wriostheley, neuvillete
Ayato
When he discovered the divorce papers and your stuff being gone, he may look calm on the outside but is mad at you as well finding it amusing, because the audacity of you leaving him or even thinking you have a choice of leaving he will send the shimatsuban to capture you quickly before you could leave inazuma and dock a ship to liyue harbor.
If you already have left the Nation, ayato would use overseas or send shimatsuban to kidnap you and send you back towards him, quickly the commissioner is not patient if his wife becomes a subject.
And when you were kidnapped back and was presented towards him with your hands being tied, he will look at you with disdain saying how he feels hurt by the stunt you perform and laughs at you for thinking you could leave, for now on your not allowed to wonder outside freely even in the estate, if you want to go out you have to go to ayato and you will be accompanied by shuutmasuban following behind you to make sure you will not run. Maybe he should put a baby in you to prevent you from leaving
Diluc
When he discovers the paper, he will be outside his offices and call for a staff meeting, he will question every maid and butler whenever they see you and what time did you leave, soon he goes out and ventures for you.
If your hiding mondstat diluc would knock on the residential your living in and command for your return immediately it's an order you have no choice, he will knock you out and carry you back on to dawn winery
The staff are commanded to not leave you alone or not letting you go outside of the room, he will use anything to keep you from living even chaining you in the basement when you try to run away again.
Kaeya
How amusing, he finds it hilarious, you leaving him. He thought you and his relationship was before I mean if you ignored how he basically forced you to marry him.
He manages to catch up on you half way journey, how the heck he manages to make it there much faster than you or how he knows that you were there in the first place is a mystery, he will drag you back on if you resist he knock you out
At home if you still tried to leave, kaeya will use his vision to freeze your legs to prevent you leaving, he will spoon feed and baby you and if you resist he reminds you he could break your legs since it's frozen and he will start to talk about children.

I’ve read the ex husband series and I’m confused on why we are divorced ? How did they allow for it ?
the reason you got divorced in my ex husband series:
diluc — thought he had to leave you just like his father left him, no i'm joking it's actually because of trauma
kaeya — keeping secrets, always talking in riddles in order to protect you, but ultimately ended your marriage
childe — who knew pushing you away in order to protect you from his work would end up in divorce + maybe the both of you just weren't ready for marriage and only did it for funnies
ayato — almost no time to dedicate himself to marriage, it's like he is married to his work rather than you
zhongli — it was hard to even divorce this man because the "contract" LIKE SHUT YOUR ASSS till death do us part shouldn't end this way
alhaitham — being hot and sexy means nothing when you're so goddamn annoying
dottore — do i need to explain this
pantalone — didn't know the difference between human and property
neuvillette — you never got divorced, he only made you believe you did but the papers were easy to fake when u the one RULING THE NATION BRRRRRRRR
wriothesley — you got jealous his ass was fatter

genshin men and their way of apologising
Genshin men and their ways of apologising.
kaeya, diluc, childe, (alhaitham, zhongli, kaveh on pt.2) x reader (fem!reader diluc)
ps: it’s comfort/hurt, a bit angsty but with fluffy ending!! Also if you guys have triggers with cursing, this content has cursing/verbal scolding implications so please mind that before reading!
Kaeya:
“stop doing this and that..you’ll end up being a burden.” He shuts off the door and locks it. You were just trying to help him, and unfortunately, he doesn’t like it. This happens quiet a lot, where he closed off all part of himself in order to heal himself…that’s okay, at first, but what about you? You’re hurt and he kept you out just like that; is he here to wound your heart just like the other exes who grew apart from you?
And when you start to lose your patience, he can’t do nothing about it, right? He’s just there to hurt-hurt-and make you feel as if you in deserve of such a treatment. You cried, it felt weird to cry over kaeya. He has been sweet, yes, you never doubted once that his act are truly meant for you, but at what certain point did you do to make him immediately switch up? You didn’t know, you never know. He never wanted to communicate, that’s the problem.
“if you don’t want me to help you, that’s fine, just please kaeya…talk to me like i’m a human, not somebody you can use when you’re happy. I also need a set of time to heal.” You say that-an automatic reply set on your brain to confront him even if it’s not face to face. Now door to door-you just scold him and leave.
It took him a huge amount of time to heal. he knows what he has done can’t be undone. Listening to your cries become his worst fear, he can’t just stand in front of your eyes and say sorry, he knows that wouldn’t work. That enough explains how much he hates apologising; because his apologies always ended up with him crushing over the burden of his sins.
That’s why, the next day, in the morning when you woke up. Kaeya is already there beside your bedside. Folding your palm between his. His head on the floor.
“i’ve taken your words and…* he sighs before continuing. “Apologies don’t really matter if i don’t change my attitudes, so please, if you’re still willing to give me one more chance, can i have the privilege to change, at least, for you?”…he stays quiet for a while. “Lastly, i’m sorry, i know all i did these yesterday and these past few months weren’t tolerable. I understand if you would hate me for this.”..he looks up to you, his eyes are already watery. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” He hugs you and that felt so good…
A mark on your neck was left, a few peck it took for him to finally calm down. And he looks at you with a smile, even when his eyes are puffy. “I love you..thank you for still being here.”
Diluc:
Diluc came home quite late, it was unusual and it worries you, after all, since the day you married him. He had never been this late-he always come home with a huge surprise which is food…for obvious reason (he’s wants you to eat instead of cooking him a meal since he knew how exhausting it can be).
you were just about to ring up his phone-and suddenly a slam from the door was heard. You came to the first floor and..there’s diluc! “Diluc!” You grin, as always, you warmly greeted him, because it’s your husband, it’s diluc, what more reason to make you adore him?
You tried to help him get his bag and put off his jacket…but his bag was so heavy…whatever does he put inside his bag? Why is it so h— oh no! The bag suddenly hit your coffee cup and spilled the remaining coffee to the bag…now his bag is tainted with coffee and he-who saw that scene in front of him can’t even hide his raging eyes. Before one word to spit out-he gives off a long sigh-squinting his eyes.
“Why…sigh…it’s always you, you AND YOU who makes the worst mistake OVER AND OVER AGAIN! In the WORST TIMING AS WELL, CAN YOU—“ you replied, cutting off his words. “I-i’m so sorry diluc…i’ll help you with th—“ , “CAN YOU STOP CUTTING MY WORDS? Listen to me lady, it’s not about the bag or the papers, its about your presence…why helping you when you can’t even help yourself fix these problems, you’re helpless.”
He said that like a drunk man with no sanity behind his eyes, yet, this time, he’s actually sober, so sober he already pulled off that bag from your grip... He’s losing his patience and you know his words are the truth…still it hurts way too much. Why? Because it’s diluc, the one you called husband. tears fell and you don’t know what to do. It’s like your body doesn’t know how to move.
You look at his eyes, your mind went blank. You can sense his anger, but the tears never stop from your eyes. It’s like you just got hit by a truck. You try to left the living room to the bedroom upstair. At the same time diluc realise his action-you’re already up there-on the stair.
As soon as your foot step into the bedroom. You slowly loses the ability to numb the tears. You lay down on the comfy covers and then just cry. Sniffling. Without words, just cry and cry and cry. Realising that it was your mistake but..it hurts when he struck you with the truth that you’re useless in his eyes.
Diluc didn’t pay mind to pride when it comes to apologizing. Hence, when he heard the sniffling become louder in each breathe you took. He storms to the bedroom and hold your body to his embrace. Covering you from his face. Covering you from the cowardice and guilt he has to face. Securing you from his words..comforting you with his presence.
“sorry princess…don’t bother looking at my face if it means you’ll hate me…i don’t deserve the sight of your eyes…i don’t deserve anything.” He hugs you closer and strokes your hair, within each stroke, it felt like his hands have just won you again. “Thank you for helping me, it ease me a lot—that’s the word you need and i’m unable to fulfil that right..here i am, rejecting you, not acknowledging the effort you took just to wait for me.” He kisses your forehead before carrying you to sit on his lap. “but do believe that i’ll fix this mistake and beg on your knees if you need me to...” he look at your eye despite you not giving him a sight of your puffy eye.
“Anything for a second chance, for my princess.”
Childe:
you really love cooking. It’s something that nobody really knows-cause not evedybody has seen you cook or even taste the food you cook. You’re known to be secretive about everything; Even childe being your husband, only 2 of your 100 friends know-especially with the fact that topic is on your top 10 secret list.
And being in a marriage with childe means you’ll cook 24/7, which at first seems fine with you-but lately, you’ve been losing interest in cooking. It’s like..whatever you make is just a rating of ”it’s okay” for childe. It’s like he doesn’t even bother appreciating your food. So today, you’re trying to confront him…
He’s in a badmood-that’s why he doesn’t bother to try and reach out to you. Though it’ll be very thoughtful if you actually make him his comfort food right? And maybe if you did so, he would’ve complimented your cooking? Right! So you did and you’re so happy with the result! It taste perfect! So you began serving it onto the small bowl and put the food in front of him, you immediately get some spoonful of the food and put it inside his mouth-which is hot-like BURNING HOT. You know you fucked up so badly, so you get some water for him before he said “fuck!” so casually.
“W-what’s wrong..? Sorry i burned your tongue, i really am..!!! Please dr—“ he immediately cut you off. “No…i don’t want to eat dinner, the food doesn’t even taste good…” oh. “and thank you for burning my tongue as well! It certainly helps!.” He mocked you. “Now i can speak while enduring the pain! Right! That’s what you want your husband to feel, right?” He happily grins, a mockery. Childe immediately walked out of the dining room like a child.
And he scoffs silently on the hallway, even though it’s easy enough for you to listen because he talks to himself like he talks to another being. “I should’ve just searched for another person..i can’t stay with an idiot…” and that push you towards a realization that childe always have think of you as somebody who isn’t worth of his time. It’s like reality finally gives you a sign that he’s just one lucky pull you got. You didn’t cry. It gives you a numbing feeling, an empty one.
You sat on the dining table, taking out your apron, you get some bowl of the food and eat it by yourself. Because, like childe said, he wouldn’t eat dinner, so why bother waiting for somebody who can’t even appreciate you?
Eating alone is such a complex feeling, especially in a marriage. It feels lonely but peaceful. At least it can make your mind steady for whatever coming afterwards. You did feel a bit better but..the pain of his words never left you. It never did. It just makes the heart feel more numb as the seconds passed.
You sighed and…there he is, all shy and embarrassed behind the walls, he has been spying on you since 30 minutes ago…he’s guilty as charged. When you see him, you ignored him, immediately. Not wanting to share another eye contact with that man who have insulted your ways of loving him.
He follows you and hold onto your arm before you go elsewhere, who knows what will you do if his arms didn’t hold yours. Childe is embarrassed-guilt on his face and a coward on his heart. He made you wait for a good 5 minutes, he was waiting for you to say something..but instead, childe was met with cold air.
“i’m a loser for insulting your way of loving me. I’m dramatic. I’m a brat. I’m everything that you don’t want in a man.” His head can’t even meet yours. After all, your eyes are blank and it pierces his soul. “You don’t need to give me second chance. You don’t need to treat me right after what i’ve done. A bad deed is a bad deed.” With the courage of the final sentence; he hold onto your hand and kisses your fingertips. “I will win that cold heart of yours again and again, if it means i can live with you in every life to come.”

A SERIES OF BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS
characters. xiao zhongli diluc kaeya childe neuvillette alhaitham x gn!reader genre. romantic fluff. an. ough. . | please reblog!! im getting back into writing and reblogs with tags and comments will make me want to write more :D
xiao
the aftermath of a bloody fight. the remains of a hilichurl lay in front of you, disintegrating back into abyss particles. it's a sad sight, but it had to be done – xiao looks at you, nodding in approval. you did well, for a healer who hates taking away lives, he says. the two of you turn back to center your gaze on the flaming battlefield. some things are meant to be killed.
zhongli
when he mourns for his old life, with old friends, old students, old sights. he buries his head in your lap, the ex-archon's tears staining your hanfu. it's okay to cry, my dear, it's okay to cry, you remind him –it doesn't get any better. grief doesn't come easier after those hopeful words. zhongli can only hope that it will come easier, with your presence in his life.
diluc
brushing his hair after a night of vigilante activities – diluc hisses when your thumb presses on a sore spot, and you gently shush him with a stroke on his neck. i'm sorry, diluc, just hold on a while longer and i promise i'll be done soon – you whisper gently, cupping his face in your hands as you turn his head slightly to the side to check for more scrapes and scratches.
kaeya
braiding flowers into his cobalt blue hair – kaeya laughs when your fingers graze against a sensitive spot. you laugh and tease him, your fingers deftly braiding the daisies you both gathered earlier into the tight braid that was in your hands. it's a serene night – a vast contrast from the previous, turmoil-filled nights. the archons know that both of you need it.
childe
playing tag with the children, with a very exhausted ajax sprawled out on the ground and pretending to pant and gasp for air – alright, perhaps he's not pretending anymore. teucer sits on his torso, poking his sides until his beloved big brother gets up and tickles him until the little boy shrieks. childe leans against your lap, and you stroke his hair until he falls asleep, teucer cuddled up next to him.
neuvillette
waking up in the morning, with your two melusine daughters giggling and jumping on your bed. they startle awake a previously-snoozing neuvillette. he smiles lightly as he greets the girls good morning, who leap off the bed and eagerly run to the kitchen. your husband turns over to look at you – a sweet moment of respite, before kissing you on the lips and turning back to the chaos-filled morning.
alhaitham
reaching for a book that's too high, only to realise that your boyfriend can reach for it with ease. alhaitham bends down to listen to your request, before simply nodding and reaching for your much sought-after book. he smiles gently, afraid that you'll be afraid and intimidated by him... like everyone is. your soft, sweet words of gratitude please him instead. thank you, alhaitham.

Hello, how are you ? Since you have open request I’d like to ask something : How do you think our favorite dragon Zhongli will react to his wife being accused of lying because they have corrected an historian on a false fact about Morax ?
Since English isn’t my first language I’m afraid this is not clear, I’m sorry.
Ooh, I like it, here's what I've come up with <3
-----
The tension is palpable and certainly not what you were hoping to land yourself in when you accepted Zhongli's request to be his plus-one aboard the Pearl Galley.
"Forgive me, Mr. Changying, but that's where I'll have to correct you," you tell the stocky man before you. The food and drinks on the table are long-untouched. "Rex Lapis didn't take on such a grand ten-headed and eight-armed form to exterminate those sea creatures. In fact, he personally went door to door to trap them in little Geo contraptions, even having a bit of trouble with the.... particularly wrigglier ones."
Changying's eyes practically roll into the back of his head. "Do you truly believe that rubbish just because that is what's commonly peddled? That the Geo archon, who could raise the mountains and calm the tides without breaking a sweat, found the task of getting rid of tiny sea creatures tedious and challenging?"
Sighing, you say, "Even the gods are subject to being less-than-perfect in their methods. And besides, the damn things were inside people's houses - brute strength would not have been handy at all. Rex Lapis needed to be careful and meticulous so that none of his people were harmed. Hence the Geo cages."
Despite how neatly you'd presented your counterpoint, Changying merely scoffs as he adjusts his glasses. He jabs a finger at you accusingly. "You're lying, just like everyone else," he growls, "and you clearly have no respect for our late archon! Do you even like him?"
Your breath nearly hitches in your throat as you gaze up at him in shock. "Ex...excuse me?"
The man pulls no punches as he continues his rant against you. "How can you so blindly believe what the masses think? Maybe if you were a real Rex Lapis follower like me, you would learn some critical thinking skills and draw more accurate conclusions!"
"I'm afraid I am on the side of my partner here, Mr. Changying," cuts in Zhongli, placing an arm on your shoulder. Relief floods your veins as you let out the breath you'd been holding. "They are correct in explaining that Rex Lapis had to go the simplistic route when dealing with Liyue's sea creature infestation."
Changying's eyes grow wide. "Forgive me, Mr. Zhongli," he murmurs, and you're not ignorant to the way his tone mellows out and becomes more respectful as he continues to speak. "I didn't know you were also in agreement of that story. But let me explain why he likely-"
"It is alright for you to have your own interpretations of events, especially for a being with an expansive history that is always being debated over," says Zhongli calmly, poised as always, "but when these interpretations are unrealistic and you still try to present them as fact...while belittling other people, no less...the line must be drawn somewhere, yes?"
Changying blanches, stammering, "Er, but don't you think Rex Lapis would appreciate deviating thought processes more, especially when..."
Zhongli's eyes narrow ever so slightly, his visage still calm as a pond. "Perhaps so, but what he would not appreciate is his people trying to one-up others in an attempt to prove they are his most loyal followers." Your husband glances at you. "I know my partner well, and they love Rex Lapis dearly. Not only do you accuse them of lying, you also undermine the love they hold for the deity."
His hand brushes against yours and he interlaces his fingers with you, giving a gentle, reassuring squeeze. You smile softly.
Changying scrambles for words, useless excuses and explanations that hardly justify him being on his high horse.
Zhongli, unamused, fires his parting shot. "Far be it for an ordinary man like myself to tell you what to do, but here is some advice: gather reliable citations for your claims, provide succinct evidence, and be respectful of those with opposing views, and perhaps then Rex Lapis would consider you a favorite of his."
With that, Zhongli escorts you away from the scene, knowing full well you will always be his favorite by far - the approving smile he gives you conveys that perfectly.

☆《A letter away. (Neuvillette x Reader x Ex-husband!Zhonghli)》☆
-----♡
A/N: Hello everyone! This is me officially coming back through a very special request! I was thinking of a good way to get back into writing and so I asked my best friend, my ride or die, my literal everything to give me something to write about. And since I know she loves Neuvillette alot, this is my official thank you to her for being a phenomenal friend and waif. Also, HSR requests will come in due time, after I get used to writing again. So without further ado, please enjoy and thank you again to my bestie for helping me with my comeback!<33 Summary: Zhongli wanted to embrace his new life as a human to the fullest, which also meant that his dragonic wife couldn't be in it. Heartbroken and hopeless, you feel abandoned as you wonder what you should even do now, after eons of being with him... until one day, you receive a letter from an old friend, that finally showed you the way forward again. Content: Female reader, some angst, hurt/comfort, mentions of divorce (kind of), reader has some physical descriptions that hint to them being a dragon hybird, Zhongli being horrible, some hints of possible emotional abuse (no detailed descriptions), happy ending, somewhat of a healing journey, writing warm up, sfw
Reader has she/her pronouns! (Not really proofread)
-----♡
The summer came to an end early this year and not because of the seasons changing, but rather your husband doing so. Despite the scorching heat that left the usually busy streets of Liyue mostly empty, you felt the cold seep through your skin, whenever he came back from work. You'd shiver, nearly imagining the cold puffs of air whenever he passed you by wordlessly. You only barely remember the days of happy greetings and warm welcomes, but perhaps you were only imagining those too. You felt like a simple shadow in your own home, always disappearing from the presence of the light that was Zhongli's intimidating figure.
And today was no different.
He walked in, took off his coat, then his shoes. He paid no mind to you hiding in the doorway to the kitchen, slitted eyes flickering between him and the food he brought with him, despite you telling him that you were going to cook for him earlier that day. You should've known better, than to think that he was listening to you after all. You opened your mouth to greet him, but your voice was missing. You didn't want him to snap at you again for making him awknowledge you. Slowly retreating back into the dim room, you shivered when you felt his dark gaze on you. You made too much noise for someone who was just a ghost in his home now.
It couldn't always have been like this, you concluded, as you stood over the now cold food on the table. No, there was a time where you two were happy, mates for life. He built a home for you in Liyue, kept you protected during the archon wars, practically laid out the world down at your feet... until he didn't. Until he became this. A god who wanted to pretend to be a human for a reason nor you or any other adepti could ever understand. You weren't able to hide most of your dragonic features like he could and therefore you were mostly stuck in the home. Human men usually didn't have dragons as wifes, you figured bitterly. But he was no human, no matter how much he wanted to pretend he was.
He gave up his Gnosis and decided that faking his death would get him closer to living his ideal life amongst his people as nothing more than Zhongli. And you hated that name. That wasn't your husband. Maybe he had died years ago and you simply didn't notice. Whatever it was, you felt empty as the last warm sun rays of the day hit your face and you slumped into the nearest chair with a weak sigh. Deep down, you knew you were a hindrance to him. Something that kept him from becoming fully human. And it hurt, that he was willing to give you up so easily over this.
Weren't dragons supposed to mate for life?
You pressed your face against the cold surface of the table, your eyes catching the sight of a white envelope resting on the kitchen counter. Your tail swished once in recognition, before stilling. You knew who it was from, your heart clenching nervously at the idea of Zhongli seeing it. He wouldn't like who it was from, surely. But then again, he didn't seem to care anymore either. If you left tommorow, what would he say? Would he stop you? Beg for you to come home with him again? You pressed your lips into a thin line. He would have maybe once eons ago... but not anymore.
It was proven to you, when your zoned out gaze on the letter was blocked off by a certain man's torso. You didn't bother raising your head or looking up at him. If he was finally awknowledging you now, then it was only for one reason you were afraid of. Your time with him was up. He began a speech, one you could barely hear through the foggy haze of your mind, until he stilled too. There was no point to sugarcoat it. "... I want you gone by morning." He simply said, knowing that you at least caught those words. He turned, deciding to leave for the house whilst you were still there, when you enacted your final attempt at revenge. It was weak, nothing in comparison to what he had done. But it was enough to enrage him deep down.
"Very well, Morax." You made sure, that his old name rolled off your tongue perfectly, cutting him deep with the knowledge, that you will never see him as a human. He paused in his step and you could imagine the way he clenched his jaw when you closed your eyes with a bitter chuckle. Your keen ears heard the leather straining as he closed his fists tightly. You felt his head turn to look at you, his breath hitching to say something... before he simply left, the door slamming behind himon his way out. It was hard to make him lose his composure, but you knew him all too well. He was too prideful even now.
When you opened your eyes again, it was late into the night. You lit a candle, your eyes flickering to the letter again. You had yet to open it. perhaps you were afraid of it's contents, despite having no need to. You always knew, that you should've chosen him instead anyways. You weakly pushed yourself up onto your feet, your hand reaching for the letter. You turned it, a shadow of a smile on your lips, when you see your old nickname on the back of it. Neuvillette remembered it even all these years later.
'To my dear Water Lily.'
You opened it with shaking hands, your eyes looking over it's contents with a worried gaze, that melted away the more you read. It was an invitation to come visit him all the way in Fountaine. He had hoped you were still wiling to speak to him despite your marriage to Morax- no, Zhongli. You were childhood friend's once, two dragons that kept to themselves in the depth of the oceans, until the wars came along. You should've married him when you had the chance, but Zhongli got to you first. Would you have married him instead, if he hadn't hesistated?
You shook your head, your hands pressing the letter to your chest. To your heart. You might as well go. You had nothing to lose anymore. slipping off the ring on your finger and placing it onto the table, you packed some simple things for the trip, before stepping out of the once warm home. You walked quickly, your head low to not attract any attention. You'll never come back to Liyue, you decided then. But you couldn't help but stop for a moment to look back at your home city with a deep, heartbroken sigh. Mainly because you felt a certain Adepti's gaze on you. You looked up, meeting his eyes with a sad, pained frown. Xiao's face was unreadable, but you knew, that he knew that this might be the last time you saw eachother. And so, all he could do was bow deeply, before disappearing. You nod in understanding.
There was no need for goodbye's, as they hurt more.
You went on to travel for a good month straight, seeing sights you could never have been able to witness at Zhongli's side. You met new people, even friends, as you traversed through the thick forest of Sumeru, no one giving your inhuman features a second look. Sumeru city was a sight to behold, the Archon of wisdom being kind enough to point you towards the direction of your destination. The vast desert was an experience you never thought you'd appreciate either. And by the time you finally stood at the port to Fountaine's entrance, you couldn't help but look back at Sumeru with a fond gaze, lost in thought, until a something pulled at your sleeve.
Looking down, you saw a Melusine tilt her head up at you. "Hello... Do you need help getting somewhere, miss? You've been standing here for about an hour now." She said bluntly, making you blink, before fishing out the letter with a hum. "I... need to meet the Chief of Justice." You mutter, the small creature nodding in understanding, as though this was a normal request for her. "That's easy. You just have to take the Aquabus to the city first." "Oh..." Your eyes looks up at the large wall of waterfalls with a confused gaze. "... Do you know what an Aquabus is?" "I... no." You say after a moment of hesistation, making the Melusine nod again. "Follow me then. I'll get you to your destination, miss." She said.
And as promised, you soon enough nervously sat in this so-called Aquabus, waving the helpful Melusine a thankful goodbye. the ride was long, yet far from boring for your curious eyes. You had become near addicted to the thrill of adventure, to the thrill of seeing things you could never have been able to before. Perhaps you've just been trapped for way too long. An excited smile crossed your face, when you finally arrived in the busy capital city of Fountaine. You felt out of place, but couldn't care for it through the glee you felt. He was so close, you could feel it. And it made you wonder if he felt it too. You entered the large building that he was the leader of, a Chief of Justice, something you never expected him to ever become. But then again, you never expected to end up like this either, although you should've perhaps known better.
You were let through quicker than you anticipated, after you showed them the ticket that came with the letter. A Melusine led you to a grand balcony that oversaw the entire city, before telling you that he'd be there soon. You leaned against the marble railing, eyes sparkling at the breathtaking sight before you. Your heart fluttered with an odd sense of belonging, memories of a childhood spend in vast oceans coming to mind and filling you with painful nostalgia.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" A deep voice hummed, a soft gasp leaving your lips, as you looked up at the familiar tall man beside you. You were so deep in thought, that you hadn't noticed his presence approaching you. You gulped, so many emotions and thoughts running through your head. There was so much you wanted so say. But ultimately, you could only turn to look back at the vast ocean with a small smile, when you felt his pinky finger touch yours. A silent promsie of being here for you. Always.
"Yes... Yes, it is."

——————
There were many words you could use to describe Zhongli; twitchy was not one of them.
But that was exactly what he had been like in the last couple of days:
Twitchy.
When you asked him what was wrong, he would suddenly refocus on you with a smile as he raised his hand to cup your cheek, “There is nothing wrong, my love. Do not mind me.”
You admitted the first couple of times, you got sidetracked by Zhongli’s blinding smile. It wasn’t that you hadn’t seen it before, but each time it stole your breath away. And you suspected that since you were still considered newlyweds, may have had something to do with it. Most days, when you woke up, you expect to have Zhongli as your husband, to be only a dream. But when you turned over, and saw him, you knew it was no dream.
However, the small window of protection that was his smile that Zhongli had was quickly fading for you. You were determined to figure out why this man was so….twitchy.
So you waited patiently until night fell and you were both tucked in bed.
Zhongli laid on his back and barely closed his eyes when he felt your weight drap on top of him. He gave a small smile as he cracked open his eyes, wrapping his arms around you. He leaned forward and kissed your forehead, “Goodnight, my little wife.”
Thinking that was the end, he shut his eyes intending to fall asleep.
“Yeah, no. That’s not happening until we get to the bottom of this.”
He opened his eyes then, “Bottom….of what?”
You admonished, “Zhongli you aren’t stupid so please don’t pretend to be. It’s unbecoming for a man of your stature.”
You watched amber eyes slowly slide away from yours as silence stretched for a long while. If that didn’t prove that something was on his mind nothing did. If he knew he wasn’t hiding something he would have no reason to look away from you like that. You laid your head on his chest as you felt his hands absently rub up and down your body.
You were willing to wait.
Although after a while, you worked up the courage to ask softly, “Zhongli….have I done something that upsetted you?”
It had niggled in your brain as this started. You weren’t the type to get bent out of shape over nothing and wanted to have the facts before you decided if it warranted such a response. However with your marriage being so new, there was a sliver of insecurity that lingered.
No matter how hard you tried to suppress it.
His eyes widened as he turned back to you, tilting your head so that you could look at him. His amber eyes were earnest as he responded, “No, of course not! You’ve done nothing to upset me. Quite the opposite really. Every day has been a joy to me. That you would choose this old ex-archon as your husband, I am honored anew everyday.”
You tucked yourself deeper into your chest as a small smile formed on your lips. He always had a way with words. You felt Zhongli trying to get you to raise your head up once more.
Only when your eyes met his did he speak, “You have never done anything that displeased me, Y/N.”
“Then…what is the problem?” You asked softly, “And please don’t deflect…”
Once again Zhongli’s eyes slid away from yours. Then his eyes darted to yours quickly before turning away even as his head did not turn back to you.
Something clicked, “Wait, is this you being embarrassed?” There was a sense of awe in your voice. You had never seen Zhongli like this.
“What exactly do I have to be embarrassed about?” Zhongli muttered, still not looking at you. Once again his eyes quickly darted to your face and away.
Was that a light sheen of red, dusting his face?
You sat up a little taller and peered at him closer, as you giggled, “Dunno, you tell me!”
After a moment, Zhongli finally turned back to you, “It’s just….old habits. Ones I thought I had lost after descending into mortal form but it seems that isn’t necessarily true.”
You bobbed your head and asked after another lull, “Old habits? Such as?”
“.....”
“Zhongli, this is me, your wife. You don’t have to be afraid to tell me whatever it is. You know that I am willing to help you. I love you.”
“I know this yet still I hesitate.”
“What exactly do you think I’m going to do?”
“You would probably find it….distasteful.”
You raised an eyebrow. Now, you really wanted to know. That Zhongli was worried about such a thing, exactly how bad was this thing?
Although you knew you looked troubled and wary you still prompted, “Tell me anyway. It’s going nowhere, how you’ve been dodging me as of late.”
“Very….. well….”
You watched as Zhongli seemed to summon his last visage to continue speaking, “As the Geo Archon, I was in fact…part dragon.”
“Okay….” you prompted again, when he paused longer than necessary.
His hands continued to rub at you as he spoke, “But since descending into mortal form, I thought I had lost that….ability. Which to a great extent I had but it seems I still have the instinct of a dragon.”
“....And….” This was pulling teeth you realized but at least you were getting somewhere.
“The instinct of a dragon about its mate.”
Zhongli looked at you then and you stared at him, blankly. You knew he was looking at you like you were supposed to suddenly get it but you did not.
You kept your voice light, not wanting to ruin the moment, “Okay….. I’m sorry. I’m not sure where we are going here…”
“No, I suppose not…..” Silence lulled before Zhongli continued, “Dragons tend to want to hoard treasure. A mate is a type of treasure…..”
“Right!!” You said that as if you knew what was going on.
You did not.
Zhongli realized this. Perhaps it was past time to stop beating around the brush. He gave a small sigh, “My dragonic instincts about my mate, makes me want to hoard her; hoard you. I really want to take you away from others for a while and….”
“Oh, okay! Like a vacation?” You spoke after Zhongli had trailed off, “That doesn’t sound bad. Not distasteful in the slightest.”
Zhongli really wanted to slap a hand to his head. He was good at words and now that ability seemed to be escaping him.
You saw the long-suffering look and asked, “No? Something else?”
You were beginning to think, you were the stupid one in this.
“It is not you.” Zhongli said as you slowly lowered your chin to his chest, “It is me. It seems I’m having a hard time finding words for this particular scenario. It’s frustrating to say the least.”
“I take it this old habit happened before now?”
“Hm,not quite like this. This is the first time it’s been so….demanding. This instinct seemed to awaken when we were engaged.”
You were completely and officially lost. You didn’t want to make this harder than necessary but you really couldn’t see where this was leading to. But then suddenly you found yourself on your back, Zhongli pressing his lips on yours, quite hard.
After the shock wore off, you gave a moan, wrapping your arms around him. He had never been quite this aggressive before. His hand cupped your face, holding you where he wanted. Only when you both needed to breathe did he pull back, dropping a kiss on your neck right over your pulse, releasing your face.
You gave a small gasp even as something he said niggled your brain, “Zhongli, you said it awakened when we were engaged. Why am I just now finding out about it?”
Here a wolfish grin crept onto Zhongli’s face as he peered at you, “Y/N, such was not the time to engage in such….hmm...how did you say, R-rated affairs. You’ve always wanted to keep it PG-13 until we were married.”
You couldn’t keep Zhongli’s gaze and turned away, eyes wide, making the ex-archon laugh. Ahh, perhaps this was beginning to make a little more sense even if the finer details eluded you.
When you found your voice you spoke, gaze still turned away from him, “Well, the rating has since gone up, so what is the problem exactly?”
“This is true but a dragon’s instinct for his mate can be quite…demanding. I did not wish to frighten you with them.”
You turned to him with a glare, “So suffering in silence is better? I am willing to give you whatever you want, Zhongli. Surely you know that.”
Zhongli gave a soft smile then, “You have given me so much already. I wouldn’t demand more of you.” Then he frowned, “....Especially, when you know not what it entails…”
“Then tell me…” You challenged your eyes, flashing.
As Zhongli held himself over you, you watched his eyes turning to liquid gold, but where there was usually tenderness, this time, you saw something else. Liquid gold held a hard tint, yet could burn as fire, as he gazed down at you. His body had gone still, as if he became a statue. You couldn’t even feel him breathing then. Your thoughts turned as you gazed up at him.
You shivered. Yet it wasn’t fear, that you felt, you knew that much.
Then he moved, slowly bringing his hand to cup your chin. You instinctively leaned into his touch, even as your eyes never left his.
Couldn’t leave his.
Then his thumb came to rest upon your lips, running back and forth. Softly at first but then you felt a bit more pressure making your lips part. You felt your breath hitched at such an intimate gesture.
“....Irrational thoughts have been pouring into my mind lately. Ones where I take you away from here, deep into the mountains. I don’t want anyone to lay eyes on you, to entertain your presence, to share even the same oxygen you breathe. Except for me. Only me.”
You felt a shiver down your spine once more, his voice deepening. Yet, his gaze was unwavering as he gazed down at you, his words measured.
“You are a treasure I don’t want to share with anyone else. It should be mine and mine alone. Mine to indulge with as I see fit. But I don’t want you to fear this, Y/N. I only wish to love you at my highest capability. To treat you as gold.”
“Ahhh…” He drawled, “That is incorrect on my part. Even a mountain of Mora would pale in comparison to a night with you. Even then I know a night with you would never be enough. No matter how much I would touch you or kiss you, my greed would want more, demand more. A lifetime of nights, and it would still not not sate me even into eternity. Such is bottomless greed. I’m well aware of this fact and yet still, I would wish to take you away for a while and love you until we are breathless at the wonder of it all.”
You had no words, even as silence lingered. You could only stare helplessly at him. Then he blinked and his eyes seemed to turn back into those amber eyes filled with tenderness.
He moved his hand away, “Forgive me. It seems that I…”
You surged forward, even as you yanked him down to capture his lips in a fierce kiss. He was surprised, steading himself with his hands on either side of you, but returned the kiss to match your fervor.
Then you pulled away, leaving a scant breath between you, “You have such a way with words, my husband. So smart, yet so stupid.”
He furrowed his eyebrows even as he didn’t turn his gaze from you.
“That I would fear such a union. It’s stupid. I’m your wife.” You breathed.
Zhongli worked to find his voice, “It’s…far too much, especially for a mortal. I know well what happens with excess. I will not destroy this beautiful thing with a wanton display.”
“You’d take care of me. Even during then, you’d take care of me. You wouldn’t let yourself get to such a place where you would destroy the beauty we have. You need to trust yourself more.”
Amber eyes gazed deeply into yours. You could see him thinking. You could also see the surprise at your words. Your conviction.
And you had meant every one.
You knew and trusted Zhongli. You knew that he could love you so fiercely so as not to destroy you in the process. He was always seeing to your needs. Emotionally or physically. So why did he think you wouldn’t see to his?
You were right all along. This was not a needed drama in your head.
Then Zhongli smiled, “Ahh, my love, I believe I have fallen even more in love with you, right now.”
You giggled, “Oh?”
“Hm, I have learned much today. Thank you for your teaching.”
You laughed then, wrapping your arms around him. Comfortable silence drifted as he laid your head on your bosom, sighing contently. He was always warm but at that moment, he seemed warmer than usual. You ran a hand absently up and down his back. He felt him shift, muscles rippling once.
You squirmed once beneath him then breathed, “Zhongli…”
“No, not tonight.” Zhongli whispered, lifting himself onto his hands to gaze down at you, “I don’t trust myself right now and….I have something planned. Do you trust me?”
You nodded even as you reached up to cup his face but he used a hand to intercept, grasping yours in his. Then he smiled once, “I’m glad to know it. You won’t have to wait too much longer. I promise. Just not right now, hm?”
You didn’t trust your voice but gave a nod, letting your hand go limp. When he let it go, you let it drop besides your head. You didn’t trust yourself either now. He felt it wise that this position would not help matters so he climbed off you, to lay down besides you. Immediately you curled up at his side, but was hesitant after you did so. With a reassuring smile, he wrapped an arm around you, making you relax and sigh.
Then after a time, you managed to drift asleep.
In the weeks that followed, you did not know what Zhongli was planning. Only that he asked you to make sure you could get some time off mindful of the responsibilities you both had. Since that night, you realize that Zhongli was less twitchy but in its place, he became more touchy. It was like the shield came down. You shivered at times to catch his eyes, that became dark with promise. But despite the touches, he would only let it go so far. You’d only pout but you did trust him, so you didn’t dare push. You would wait for him and let him make the first move.
Ah, now you were seeing where he was going with this.
When this man said he wanted to take you to a mountain, he was serious. There was a beautiful cavern that he had somehow got set up along with beautiful robes that he had made specifically for both of you. You felt as if you were a bride anew as you got dressed.
But when you saw Zhongli again, dressed in his own robe, your breath caught. His hair was let free to sway in the breeze, his gloves were absent allowing you to see the golden veins that ran through his black arms, disappearing into the sleeves of his rich earthen robes. They were open at the chest, clearly teasing you. And upon his head, were a set of magnificent yellow-orange horns.
Zhongli turned to you as you stopped just staring at him. His amber eyes, seemed a shade darker, were still kind as summer as he smiled at you, “Are you afraid, my dear?”
It took you a moment to find your voice,“.....What would I have to fear?”
You watched as he walked towards you with measured steps before stopping before you. Then he was tilting your head so that you were looking up at him. His hands were warm and you realized that he had developed claws. Did he get a bit taller as well? Or was it his imposing and majestic aura?
“Y/N, you will tell me if you ever feel fear in these coming days. If you don’t like something, if it goes too far, you will tell me. Promise me.”
You gazed up at him, “I promise.”
Zhongli smiled warmly, “Y/N, my wife. I would tell you that I love you, but those seem such shallow words. No, you deserve more than what mere words can give. Much more…”
“O-oh?”
He was leaning down, his lips hovering above yours, “Hm. Much more. Three days is not nearly enough to show my love but it will have to suffice. But show it, I will….”
You couldn’t help but to reach up and rest your hands on his chest. They trembled but you didn’t dare make the first move. Your words were breathless mixed with a slight plea, “Then, show me, my husband.”
Zhongli’s lips quirked once, before he slowly captured yours…..

I have an angst to fluff request that's pretty long so I apologize.
Zhongli with a human reader who's his former blacksmith back when he was still an archon. The girl was young but her skills in creating weapons were immaculate so her elder sister sent (more like forced) her to assist him.
Unfortunately, Zhongli was very cold and harsh towards reader even when she tried her best to assist him in any way she can, which caused her to distance herself from him.
The relationship between them ended when she found out that Zhongli kept her sister's murder of her mother, best friend and her (the friend's) husband a secret from her (this was after she killed her sister). Exhausted and furious, she tears into Zhongli who tells her that her friends needed to die in order for her to mature. This angers her even more as she destroys the spear she made for him and leaves.
Sometime during the Archon war, reader ended up getting cursed with longevity during a fight with a god. Many, including Zhongli, thought she had died but unbeknownst to them, she was wandering Tevyat under different aliases.
The two meet again after 500 years when the ex-archon finds her in Liyue. Unsurprisingly, she treats him coldly which upsets him.
The two finally reconcile after reader is saved by Zhongli after nearly dying. When she accuses him of only saving her life just to make himself feel better and tells him he should've just let her die because she's useless to him anyways, this breaks his heart. It's his fault she hates him. It was because if him she lost her loved ones. He breaks down in tears as he apologizes to her for his cruel actions which causes her to cry as well and forgive him. As the two lay in bed together while in each other's arms, the silence that was once sullen was now peaceful and welcoming.
Renewed Souls.

The cavernous echoes of the smithy resonated with the rhythmic clanging of metal. Young (Y/n), a skilled blacksmith, meticulously forged weapons under the watchful eye of Morax, the Geo Archon. Her elder sister had insisted that she assist him, hoping to further her skills and gain favour with the powerful deity.
Morax, however, was a stern and cold taskmaster. He rarely acknowledged her efforts, and when he did, it was often accompanied by a disapproving scowl. Despite her earnest attempts to please him, (Y/n) found herself on the receiving end of his harsh criticism.
One day, as she carefully handed him a newly crafted spear, Morax's expression remained indifferent. "Mediocre at best," he remarked coldly. "You still have much to learn."
(Y/n) bit her lip, suppressing the frustration that threatened to boil over. She had poured her heart and soul into her craft, only to be met with relentless criticism.
Weeks turned into months, and the tension between them only grew. Morax's stoic demeanor never wavered, and (Y/n) began to distance herself emotionally from the callous Archon.
The breaking point came when (Y/n) discovered the painful truth about her family's demise. In a fit of rage, she confronted Morax, her eyes blazing with fury. "You knew!" she accused, tears streaming down her face. "You knew what happened to my mother, my best friend, and her husband, and you kept it from me!"
Morax's gaze remained unwavering, his voice steady. "Their deaths were a necessary sacrifice. A step on the path to maturity."
Enraged, (Y/n) couldn't contain her emotions any longer. "Sacrifice? Is that what you call it?" She tore into him, expressing the anguish that had festered within her. "You played puppet master with my life, and for what? To mold me into your idea of a mature servant?"
Her hands trembled as she clutched the spear she had painstakingly crafted for Morax. "I won't be a part of this any longer!" With a swift and powerful motion, she shattered the weapon against the cold stone floor.
The once-immaculate spear now lay broken, mirroring the fractured relationship between the blacksmith and the Geo Archon. (Y/n) turned on her heel, leaving the workshop and Morax behind.
Morax just stood there, like a statue, watching (Y/n) storm out of the workshop. His expression remained unmoved, but a flicker of something, perhaps regret, crossed his eyes. He didn't bother to chase after her or offer any words of consolation.
As the door swung shut, Morax was left alone amidst the remnants of shattered metal and fractured trust. The weight of his decisions hung in the air, and for a moment, the stoic facade he always wore seemed to crack ever so slightly. Yet, he made no move to follow her, letting her footsteps fade into the distance.
The workshop, once filled with the sounds of creation, now echoed with the haunting silence of a connection irreparably broken. Morax, the Geo Archon, remained alone, surrounded by the wreckage of a bond he had callously allowed to unravel.
The chaos of the Archon War had gripped Teyvat, and (Y/n) found herself caught in the crossfire during a skirmish with a vengeful god. In the midst of the battle, a malevolent curse was cast upon her, a dark magic that twisted the fabric of time and granted her an unintended boon—immortality.
As the curse took hold, (Y/n) felt a surge of power coursing through her veins, but it came at a cost. The battle raged on, and the once-familiar faces of her comrades blurred into a chaotic maelstrom. Morax, witnessing the apparent demise of his former blacksmith, felt a pang of regret deep within.
In the midst of the chaos, (Y/n) was enveloped in an ethereal glow, her form disappearing from the battlefield. The onlookers, including Morax, believed her to be lost to the cruel grip of the war. Unbeknownst to them, (Y/n) was trapped in a strange state between life and death, her consciousness suspended in an eternal limbo.
The first time she awoke, disoriented and alone, she realized that her surroundings had changed. Teyvat looked both familiar and alien, the passage of time evident in the shifting landscapes. (Y/n) moved through the ages under different aliases, trying to make sense of her cursed existence.
In one era, she roamed as a wandering scholar, sharing her knowledge with those she encountered. In another, she assumed the guise of a skilled artisan, creating masterpieces that would be remembered for centuries. The people she met came and went, their lives fleeting in comparison to her perpetual existence.
Through the ages, Morax continued to mourn the loss of (Y/n), unaware that she still existed in the shadows, watching the world evolve without her. The once-mighty Archon became more introspective, haunted by the memories of the blacksmith he had pushed away during the earlier days of the war.
(Y/n) continued to wander Teyvat, her heart heavy with the weight of the curse that bound her to an unending journey. The war raged on, gods clashed, and nations rose and fell, all while she remained an unseen observer, cursed to witness the passage of time without truly living.
The market in Liyue hummed with activity as (Y/n), now cloaked in a hooded robe, moved through the crowd. Her physical appearance had remained remarkably unchanged over the centuries, but the passage of time had etched a rugged resilience into her features. Her eyes, however, retained a sharpness that betrayed the wisdom and weariness of her immortal existence.
Zhongli, the ex-Archon once known as Morax, had been quietly observing the market, as was his habit in the mortal realm. His keen gaze caught a glimpse of (Y/n) amidst the throng, and for a moment, his heart skipped a beat. He couldn't believe his eyes—could it really be her after all these years?
With a newfound determination, Zhongli trailed her through the market, weaving through the lively vendors and animated chatter. As he approached, (Y/n) couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. Her senses, honed by centuries of survival, detected the persistent presence behind her.
Finally, Zhongli caught up, his voice carrying a mix of uncertainty and hope. "Excuse me, miss. Might I have a moment of your time?" he inquired, his tone gentle.
(Y/n) stiffened, recognising the voice that echoed from a distant past. She turned to face him, her hood casting shadows over her features. "I have no time for idle chatter," she replied coldly, her eyes narrowing.
Zhongli persisted, determined to bridge the gap that had grown between them over centuries. "I sense a familiarity in your aura. Have we met before?"
(Y/n) scoffed, her patience wearing thin. "I've met many in my long existence. Your attempts at recognition are futile. Now, leave me be."
Zhongli, undeterred, continued to follow her, his gaze filled with a quiet desperation. He couldn't shake the feeling that she held the key to a past he had long buried. As they neared the Wangshu Inn, (Y/n) sought refuge within its walls, hoping to escape the persistent presence behind her.
Days passed, and Zhongli lingered outside the inn, compelled by an unspoken connection that transcended time. Eventually, he approached her again, hoping for a chance to mend the fractures that had widened between them.
"(Y/n)," he began, using her name from a time when they were closer. "I know you recognize me. Please, let me explain."
(Y/n), her patience exhausted, turned to face him one final time. "Explain? What's there to explain, Morax? You abandoned your godhood, changed your name, and left everything behind. Why should I care about the reasons now? You mean nothing to me."
Zhongli took a breath, ready to speak, but before he could utter a single word, (Y/n) cut him off with a cold and resolute tone.
"I'm not here for apologies, Morax," she interrupted, her gaze unwavering. "I'm here for supplies, nothing more. Once I'm done, I'll be on my way. Don't bother following me or trying to explain. There's nothing left to say."
Zhongli, though pained by her harsh words, nodded in silent acknowledgment. He watched as (Y/n) disappeared into the bustling inn, her figure framed by the doorway. The weight of centuries lingered in the air, and Zhongli remained outside, grappling with the consequences of choices made long ago.
Once alone in the quiet confines of her room at the Wangshu Inn, (Y/n) finally allowed the facade of strength to crumble. The weight of centuries pressed down on her, and the pain she had endured for so long spilled over. The tears, held back for centuries, now flowed freely, each drop carrying the anguish of a life that seemed unending.
She sank to her knees, the room silent except for the soft sobs that wracked her body. The weight of loss, betrayal, and the relentless march of time bore down on her, and for a moment, the eternal wanderer felt the crushing weight of her existence.
"I can't take it anymore," she whispered to the empty room, her voice barely audible through the tears. "I just want it to end."
The memories of her mother, her dear friend, and the life that had been stolen from her replayed in her mind like a haunting melody. The curse of immortality, once a twisted gift, now felt like an unbearable burden.
As the pain intensified, (Y/n) wished for an end to the ceaseless journey, a respite from the loneliness that had become her constant companion. Her cries echoed in the solitude of the room, a desperate plea to a world that seemed indifferent to her suffering.
In the midst of her despair, (Y/n) yearned for reconciliation with those she had lost. The ache for the warmth of a mother's embrace and the laughter of a dear friend intensified. The room, once a sanctuary, now felt like a prison echoing with the tormented cries of a soul burdened by the weight of time.
The next day dawned, and (Y/n) moved through the city as if the emotional tempest of the previous night had never occurred. It was her last day in Liyue, and she wandered to a nearby hill, a silent witness to her internal turmoil.
As she stood on the precipice, contemplating the abyss below, the wind whispered tales of countless moments lost to time. In a moment of despair, she let herself fall, surrendering to the void that beckoned. However, just as the precipice became an inevitability, a strong hand gripped her wrist, halting her descent.
Startled, (Y/n) looked up to see Zhongli, his expression a mix of concern and desperation. Accusations formed on her lips, and she spat them out with venom.
"You saved me just to make yourself feel better, didn't you?" she accused, her eyes reflecting the pain that lingered from centuries past. "You should've just let me die. I'm useless to you, just like back then."
Zhongli's grip tightened, but not in restraint. It was a desperate attempt to anchor her to the present. "No, (Y/n), it's not like that. I never meant—"
"Meant? You never appreciated anything I did. You hid the truth about the demise of my loved one just in the name of 'maturity'!" Her words cut through the air, a bitter reminder of the scars he had left on her soul.
Zhongli's eyes welled with tears, the weight of his past actions crashing down on him. "I… I'm sorry," he choked out, the words heavy with regret.
Her anger gave way to a profound sadness, and she felt the tears welling up again. "You should've just let me die in peace," she whispered, her voice a fragile echo of the pain etched into her being.
Zhongli's facade crumbled, and tears streamed down his face. "I never should've treated you that way. It's my fault you hate me. My fault you went through so muc."
As the truth hung heavy in the air, (Y/n) felt a profound exhaustion. The anger, the pain, the centuries of carrying the weight of betrayal—it all seemed too much. Zhongli fell to his knees beside her, reaching out to her in a desperate plea for forgiveness.
"I'm so sorry," he repeated, his voice breaking. "I never realized the pain I caused you."
(Y/n) hesitated, her heart torn between the desire for retribution and the weariness of carrying the burden of hatred. Finally, she sighed, the weight of centuries evident in her eyes.
"I'm tired," she admitted, her voice barely a whisper. As she finally leaned on him, Zhongli wrapped his arms around her, offering the solace of a shared pain.
"I know, (Y/n)," he murmured, his own tears mingling with hers. "I know."
Days turned into nights, and (Y/n) found herself lingering in Liyue, the city that had been both the stage for her past pain and the unexpected chapter of reconciliation. The wounds of centuries slowly began to heal, stitched together by a newfound understanding and a shared vulnerability.
One evening, as the moon cast a gentle glow through the window, (Y/n) and Zhongli lay side by side, their bodies close yet hearts still mending. The silence that had once been sullen and heavy was now transformed into a peaceful and welcoming embrace.
Zhongli spoke first, his voice carrying the weight of remorse and sincerity. "I never imagined it would come to this," he admitted, his fingers gently tracing patterns on her hand.
(Y/n) sighed, her eyes fixed on the moonlit sky beyond the window. "Neither did I. Centuries of pain and resentment, and now... it feels like a weight has been lifted."
Zhongli nodded, his gaze lingering on her. "I never wanted to be the cause of your suffering. I can't change the past, but I can be better in the present."
(Y/n) turned to face him, her eyes meeting his with a mix of vulnerability and forgiveness. "Maybe we can find a way to move forward together. A new beginning, of sorts."

What about a Venti!Reader in Twisted Wonderland?
I have many thoughts on the matter. (Because funny enough i have a small AU of Genshin Impact where Venti and Zhongli are a divorced couple, and Xiao is like their child but we'll get there soon lol)
Just, bear with me on this.
Obviously a gender neutral reader is my default for concepts, but i feel the boys and even the teachers get confused on Venti!Reader gender, like their voice and appearance is too gender lol, are they a woman or a man? You can be sure that some students discuss it and i feel that Kalim will ask Venti!Reader which gender are they, much to Jamil's dismay.
I think that Kalim would get along with Reader in this AU! They would be such wonderful friends!
Keeping with the concept, i imagine that Venti!Reader would try to convince the Dorm Leaders into chilling a bit.
Leona is a guy who lowkey has conflicted feelings with reader because on one hand he finds them a bit dumb and annoying, but in the other hand he respects how little reader cares for what people say about them.
Vil is other that asks Venti!Reader gender straight to their face and has conflicted feelings on reader's outfit, and the way they stylize their uniform (Venti wears something similar to a corset in-game, which i don't remember the name, so i'd feel that reader wears that thing in their school uniform lol, i also headcannon that the whole school uniform is heavy due to how many layers they have so Venti!reader likes light things, they alter the uniform and looks pretty similar to their casual outfit).
Riddle straight up argues with Venti!Reader because reader is practically the embodiment of freedom and they clash often but they lowkey get along on good days.
Kalim and reader are really good friends and they like to talk about their lives back in their homelands, Jamil lowkey disapproves a bit of reader but because he is a little jealous over their freedom and free will.
Azul is lowkey on the edge around Venti!Reader because because Reader likes to mess with him and his contracts and roasts him all day and bro is so done with them but they get along and sometimes play games together with Idia..
Idia thinks reader got out of a game, because why do they look so gacha game character coded??? (They are lmfao) Reader teams up with Ortho and drags Idia to touch some grass and they become friends somehow.
Malleus met Venti!Reader while on his nighth walks while reader was just playing with their lyre singing songs, they became friends quickly.
Imagine just one day while casually playing games reader says "Yooo did you know i was married? I actually have a child back home, and an ex-husband too" and it's so ??? For everyone because girl what- They were so flabbergasted lmao..
And imagine them discovering Venti!Reader is a God, the God of Freedom, they would be sooo laughing at them because they honestly would not believe them.
Now imagine the day that they actually understand Reader is literally a god, one of the most powerful ones at that, and a venered and loved one by their people, it must be so delightful see their faces lmao

All a ghost can do is haunt
Pairing. Zhongli x reader
Contents. arranged marriage, historical au, ex fiance childe mentioned, a simple life with your military general hubby zhongli.
Wc. 1.7k
It is with a heavy heart that you find yourself resigning to your fate, caressing a jade hairpin with grief. It’s smooth against your fingers. The intricate carvings give the illusion of a fluttering phoenix almost lifelike as if it’s about to soar to the skies.
It’s the most exquisite thing in your possession and the only remnant you have of a certain diplomat’s son.
With every stroke to the hairpin, you’re brought back to the day you received the item with so much fondness and excitement that you carried it with gentleness. afraid that if you put too much force, it would crumble under your touch.
It was a rough hand that reached out to gift if to you that warmed up your soul.
He said it was a promise of some sort. Of a lifetime and of his return.
He said it was meant to symbolize your connection with him. Something physical. Something tangible.
Something to remember him by.
You recall the soft breeze carrying ginko leaves off to the distance and the faraway clamor of a festive banquet in the background.
His eyes back then were crystal clear, electric blue in hue stared at you with a tender grin, calloused fingers wrapped around your hand in a gentle hold. His thumb would rub around your knuckles in assurance as you were forbidden to meet in such a secluded part of the mansion.
And he was rebellious in nature, always finding ways to get around and meet you in secret. When he enveloped you in his embrace, it’s as if it was meant to be, and you mold perfectly within his arms.
It was perfect.
His warmth soothed your racing nerves and the playfulness in his kiss filled you with nothing but glee.
Everything went as it should.
As the betrothal should have.
Ajax. You recall his name. What once filled you with joy and fondness has now turned into a bitter memory that makes you feel sick in your stomach.
Your hold on the hairpin tightened and you let the item roll down your feet with a soft thud.
It stings. Your chest feels constricted and your eyes warmed with tears.
Oh you loved him so much, it hurts.
Had you not decided to visit the marketplace with so much stubbornness, relentlessly pleading to your husband, you would not have met the sight of that man smiling and laughing with the woman he replaced you with. The ever so great foreign woman who attracted his curiousity. With hair as bright as gold, skin as pale as jade, and elegance as delicate as the calm winds that twists your heart with jealousy.
She was valiant. Aja- Childe would describe. Strong and courageous with a heart of gold, selflessly putting others above herself, and a woman of virtue. As you've been told.
You hated how soft his voice melted as he spoke those words. It was the same as how he used to speak to you in private.
She was every bit that you're not. courageous and kind.
It's a sight tainted with bitterness and such hollowness you can't help but resent the memory.
A servant at your side was alarmed at your reaction as she rushed up to you and supported you by your elbow.
“Are you alright, madam?”
You choke a sob.
You took a deep breath to calm yourself and exhaled.
There was no point dwelling over the past.
Try as you might not to let said matters get to you, you realized that the long years of affection you harbored to Childe was not so easy to dispel as you had thought so.
“I’m fine.”
Ling Ji picks up the hairpin and brushes away any dust that might have cling to it before returning it to you.
You take one glance at it. It’s magnificent and beautiful, appearing with great splendor that you've worn over the years. It carried all the memories you have of Childe. All the good and bad.
“Sell it away,” you order with a final conviction.
You decided to discard any remaining embers of feelings you have left for your previous fiance.
This is for the best.
You hope so.
Parting was inevitable.
“Madam? Are you sure?”
Ling Ji asks once more, afraid that she heard wrong but you only nodded your head to her.
She knew how much you treasured the item.
“I do not want to repeat myself again. Just do it.”
“As you wish.”
She excuses herself out of the room and disappears, leaving you all alone to gather your thoughts.
It’s best you hold your head high now that you’re married to someone else and focus your energy on building a better relationship with your husband. After all, he saved you from the humiliation of being branded as a discarded woman not wanted by their betrothed. In exchange for an heir, he offers you all the wealth and luxuries, prestige and honor that are tied to being his wife, and freedom to do whatever you want to your heart’s content.
–
Zhongli was a feared figure in the battlefield, a war god that ravishes the land with blood and carnage. Just a mention of his name was enough to evoke fear among the mass. They said he beheaded a man and skewered his head as a warning to the barbarians, they said he took a hundred men with his bare hands and tore through their flesh like it was nothing.
It was always he said, she said.
With a reputation as gruesome as the military general, stories were bound to blow out of proportion and thus you’ve always thought not to put too much attention to the rumors.
When you first met him. He was nothing as they proclaimed him as. There was nothing like a fearmongering god in his visage. He was cordial when you talked to him. Ever so polite and patient when he offered you tea and shared a box of pastries over a casual talk.
His rich knowledge of everything under the sun made you initially think he has semblance to the overly pompous and close minded noble sons that sees others beneath their stature, and yet not once had you seen him carry that arrogance that comes with the scholarly attributes.
The humility in his approach is a little endearing as you would find yourself admitting.
“Did you enjoy your little trip to the market?” He asks, his hand careful in pouring tea.
You watch his callous fingers wrapped around the handle of the teapot and as green liquid fills your cup, the earthy aroma wafts through your nose and soothes your nerves.
That was supposed to be your job and yet you watch your husband serve you refreshments. Ever since you entered Zhongli's family registry as his wife, you always made sure to spend even a little bit of time with him.
“I did, my lord. But there was nothing that struck my fancy.”
You took the cup with gratitude and brought the rim to your lips. One sip and you place it back down with a soft thud.
For some reason, Zhongli's presence always exudes such calm temperance that sways you into tranquil silence. The words exchanged between the two of you are never short and yet there's an unspoken trust that lets you cultivate in such an environment for such a short frame of time that you've been together.
You consider him a friend at least. At this stage.
And you've been working hard to close the distance between you two.
“I see. Maybe next time I’ll bring you to Mingxing.” Zhongli empties his cup.
He sees your barely touched tea and regards you with curiosity.
“And have you adjusted well within the mansion?”
Whether he notices your plight or not, he doesn't comment on it and awaits until you're comfortable enough to spill it yourself. For that you are grateful.
“Don’t you have Xiao to report back to you, my lord? I’m certain he already told you everything I’ve done.”
“That’s true but hearing it from you would be entirely different. I'd very much love to hear your personal opinion.”
You nod in understanding and recount anything of worth to tell. From the way you're adapting to your role as the mistress of the house and everything that involves managing the estate.
You suppose you're doing well. Aside from your heartbreak.
Everyday you spend time indulging in your hobbies. From reading to embroidering and painting, you've never felt more relaxed in your entire life. Comparing yourself with your life back in your paternal home, from the scheming of your father's concubines, to your sisters sabotaging each other, you've finally tasted a life free of worries.
Zhongli did make a promise to let you live a comfortable life. Not only that but he had gone above and beyond as you noticed the lack of women in his inner court. As of now, all his attention was completely on you.
"The progress for the renovation of the east wing is going well, my lord. It is estimated to finish before the arrival of this friend of yours."
You notice him crack a smile.
“There is no point being so overly formal between the two of us, wife.”
You raise a brow at this, a little taken aback because of how you've been used to calling him.
You didn't think it would matter to him much as he had always kept a respectful distance between the two of you.
You humor him a little. You like this.
You're thankful that he's meeting you halfway with your efforts.
He must have noticed as he's always been perceptive.
“Very well. I’ll take it as an invitation to call you something else then.” For a while, you ponder for an endearment. “Zhongli.”
Zhongli chokes on his tea.
“You don’t like it?”
“No- That’s not it. It took me by surprise. That is all.”
“Oh? You don’t think it’s too intimate?”
“I, naturally, have nothing against it." Your husband regains his composure. "I suppose since we’re husband and wife then there’s nothing wrong with whatever way you wish to address me.”
You smile in response to this, letting the silence settle in the space between you and the warmth of what you can now call your family of your own.
Maybe you're not quite there yet with love, but you're willing to try again once more, open your heart and trust with the companionship of your husband.
It's not all bad. You think so yourself. Zhongli is a great man as far as you can tell and you're ready to move on to the next chapter of your life with him.
