Guys, I love you all to bits–and I'm obsessed with Patti just as the rest of you. But, my brothers in christ, I bEG of you to stop mischaracterizing her roles as patti clones. it's frankly a little insulting to patti's insane acting range! I really don't think Patti and Lilia Calderu, per se, act or talk or think alike at all, for example. And while she does bring a very particular, italian, patti-edge to everyone she plays, she still plays them entirely different to each other. Lilia may have Patti mannerisms, a Patti essence of sorts, but she's very different to our girl. Same applies to Joanne, to Avis Amberg, to Nellie Lovett, to Reno Sweeney, to Joan Ramsey, to Evita Perón, (fucking Evita Perón-) to Kitty Duval, to Libby Thatcher, to Fantine, Norma Desmond, Mama Rose, Helena Rubenstein, Maria Callas?? Joan Clayton, Dr Seward?? 😭🙏 Her acting isn't even the same in two performances of the same character, I think it's a little underwhelming to portray all her characters as entirely Patti just because of her icon status and the fact we all want to sleep with heR-

These two portraits show Maria Montez wearing Jacques Fath designs (left photo from posterazzi)

Jacques Fath deigned Rita Hayworth's wedding dress when she got married to Prince Ali Kahn in 1949.

And Evita Perón is seen wearing a Jacques Fath evening dress in these photos as well. In one of her travels to Europe she gave her measurements to Jacques Fath and Christian Dior and they always sent their dresses to her by plane.

When Gregory Maguire was writing the novel of Wicked, he used Antonio Banderas as his facecast for Fiyero.

Antonio Banderas went on to play Che in the film version of Evita.

The stage musical of Wicked draws parallels between Glinda and Eva Perón as political figureheads: in "Thank Goodness", Glinda wears a 1940s-inspired dress suit and strikes the same pose at a microphone that Eva does in Evita during "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina."

I don't know if the movie Wicked: For Good will highlight Glinda's Eva Perón parallels in the same way. We've already seen photos and a clip from "Thank Goodness," at any rate, and unlike in the stage version, she's not dressed or posed like Eva there.

But regardless, I hope that after it's out, some fans make videos of Glinda set to music from Evita, using Antonio Banderas's renditions of the songs. Especially "High Flying Adored," which – with Maguire's facecasting in mind – would come across as Fiyero calling Glinda out on the hollowness of the dream she's achieved.
