So I decided to fuck around with chatgpt and see if can spit out some fanfic

y'know, for science and shit. so far, it seems to be limited to strictly SFW stories but I shall update yall if it spits out the sexy sokkla stories.

in the mean time, enjoy these works courtesy of everyone's favourite (or not) chatbot:

Prompt 1: Assassin Azula saves Sokka's life (Sokkla Saturday 2022 Wk 2 prompt (iirc)

Once upon a time, in the Fire Nation, Azula was known as a powerful and feared assassin. She was feared by many but respected for her skills and cunning mind. One day, she was assigned to take out a powerful Water Tribe warrior named Sokka. As she tracked him, she discovered that he was being targeted by a group of rogue assassins who sought to overthrow the Fire Nation.

Sokka was caught off guard, but he was a skilled fighter and managed to hold his own against the attackers. However, just when it seemed like he was about to be overpowered, Azula appeared, taking down the assassins with ease and saving Sokka's life.

Sokka was shocked and grateful to Azula, who told him that she was there to protect him, not to harm him. Sokka was skeptical, but as they traveled together, he began to see a different side of Azula. She was not just an assassin, but a complex and multi-dimensional person who had been driven to her profession by circumstances beyond her control.

Prompt 2: There was only one bed (Fate Stay Night)

Once upon a time, in the city of Fuyuki, Shirou, Rin, Sakura, and Artoria were on a mission to stop an evil sorcerer from summoning a powerful demon. They had been traveling for days, and finally arrived at the sorcerer's lair, exhausted and in need of rest. However, to their surprise, there was only one bed in the room.

At first, everyone was hesitant to take the bed, not wanting to appear greedy or rude. However, Artoria, being a true leader, offered to take the floor, insisting that the others take the bed to rest and recover for the battle ahead.

But Rin and Shirou wouldn't hear of it. They both offered to take the floor instead, not wanting the King of Knights to sacrifice her own comfort. In the end, it was Sakura who settled the argument, offering to share the bed with Artoria.

At first, the three were unsure how to fit on the small bed, but they soon found a comfortable position, with Artoria in the middle and Rin and Shirou on either side. As they lay there, they began to talk and laugh, sharing stories of their adventures and experiences. They bonded over their love of justice and their determination to protect those they cared about.

Before they knew it, the night had passed and it was time to face the sorcerer and the demon. But as they prepared for battle, they felt a new sense of strength and unity, knowing that they had each other's backs.

In the end, they defeated the sorcerer and the demon, and returned to their homes, proud and grateful for the memories they had made on that fateful night, when there was only one bed.

yup, Zutara’s got an evil kid. I wrote about slightly evil steambaby in one of my fics, and I got a bunch of crit for that, so lemme explain why evil steambaby is a thing alright?

who’s the steambaby family tree? Zuko, Katara, Sokka, Azula, and then further out you’ve got Hakoda, Ursa, Kya, Ozai

putting aside the crazy Fire Nation genes that could easily pop up down the line, let’s focus on the four important people. 

so you’ve got Zuko as this kid’s dad. Zuko, even though he’s awesome now, was a struggling villain for a bit. and a key aspect of his personality is his dogged determination. Zuko was literally so blindly dedicated to his honor he was about to die in the North Pole. Zuko has got a lot of blind faith when he believes in something, and unless his world falls apart he’s loyal to a fault. three years on that ship, and he stayed dedicated to finding a dead man. and we’ve seen him practice with Aang. Zuko’s entire personality is about hard work -- he works for everything he’s ever got. so, yeah. from Zuko we get stubborness and dedication to an ideal, and a severe lack of thinking-things through

then you’ve got Katara. now the reason Zutara is great is that it has Katara retain her utterly fiery spirit, and Zutara work together because they’re both really passionate. Katara also has a lot of faith in her convictions, and she will go the extra mile when she thinks she’s doing the right thing; case in point offering to heal Zuko’s scar under Ba Sing Se. when she thinks she’s doing the right thing. Katara can also be a little hot-headed and stuck in her ideals. she found a random guy in a block of ice and followed him halfway across the world. she’s also not the best at thinking-things through

who does think stuff through? Sokka and Azula, this kid’s uncle and aunt. let’s go on with Sokka. we saw it with the painted lady; when Sokka is on a mission, he’s on a mission. he plans everything out, and nothing gets in his way. Sokka follows through on his plans and is a bit of a perfectionist, something he shares a bit with Zuko. Katara is Sokka’s moral half of the equation. Sokka is a warrior and a friend, and Katara and Aang and Suki keep him in place, but he would do a lot for his people. he has that determination

and then Azula, which is kinda a Sozin’s line lump-sum. she thinks everything through, and is such a perfectionist that she literally goes crazy (the hair symbolism) when everything isn’t working properly for her. this is a trait she and Sokka share, and why she sees him as such a threat. they are both leaders, planners, warriors, and thinkers. and both tend to give up on their morality sometimes to make it work, being insanely realist and not idealist

where am I getting? this combination of traits works in these ATLA characters. but here’s the thing; Zuko and Katara’s moral holdbacks stop them from getting swept up in their passion. Sokka and Azula’s ruthlessness and ability to calculate and think stuff through has them holding themselves back. when you mix these two things up?? um

you got a kid who fixates on something and decides that they want it, no matter what. this kid has Sozin’s blood in his veins, and it’s easy to feel ostracized in a mixed-bending family, especially if they’re the firebender or nonbender. they have the indignation of Zutara and the follow-through capacity of Sokka and Azula, and they don’t always have someone to hold them back, because parents make mistakes too

I just genuinely don’t think that Zuko could run away from his father and sister that quickly. it’s nice to idealize Zutara and their relationship, but it’s definitely likely that they’d have a problem child that could easily get carted away into some extreme pro/anti-FN group, because teens and kids are like that -- they get carried away easily, especially when there’s a lot of pressure on them. and maybe the kid gets the redemption arc, maybe they don’t, maybe it’s soft. 

even though I love Zutara, I don’t want to pretend that some genetic drive doesn’t run through their veins. I also wrote an entire fic about this headcanon and didn’t entirely redeem my ZK kid, because people aren’t always black and white, you know?

like the ATLA world is a kid’s show, but murder definitely occurred in it. and when I say morally ambiguous, I don’t mean softly. I mean hardcore evil Zutara kid. potential story villain. might kill some people. think Azula + emotional capacity and genuinely not caring about that emotional capacity without suffering abuse of any kind. some people are just. a little inherently bad. and telling stories about those people is cool

(tbh there was so much potential in canon for an evil Zuko kid or even K/ataang kid and I’m sorta sad that was a dropped ball, I love the evil kid dynamic)

this is a terrible ranty essay, but this is why I believe one of Zutara’s kids is evil. *mic drop* I’m sorry, goodnight, and thank you for listening

Summary: Where most members of the Southern Water Tribe would despair at the sight of their nieces and nephew shivering in the Antarctic weather, Chief Sokka sees a chance to have some fun.

“It’s so...c-cold,” Hiyoko stammered, teeth chattering from her shivers. “How is it even colder than last time?” 

“Oh, silly me!” Sokka dramatically bopped himself on the forehead. “How could I forget our family trade secret to keeping warm in the South Pole?” 

“What’s the family secret?” 

Sokka grinned at the curiosity on his nieces and nephew’s faces, relishing the feeling of their wide eyes on him for an extra moment before he finally answered. “It’s...HUGS!” 

And with that, he wrapped the open panels of his cloak around Hiyoko and bundled her in, his arms squeezing snug around her as she screamed with surprised laughter. “Uncle Sokka, I can’t breathe!!”

“Good, that’s how you know it’s working!” 

“I’ll save you, Hyo!” Kya declared, before flinging herself over Sokka’s back, her hands halfheartedly pummeling at her uncle. 

“That’s right, little lady, your firebending can help us stay even warmer!” 

“Nooooo, let go of her!!! Iroh, help!!”

The 7-year-old waterbender was already in action. He was coating his hands in snow, using his bending to keep it from melting against his skin, before he ran up to his uncle and pressed his hands against his face. Sokka was already bent over to hold onto Hiyoko and support Kya’s weight on his back, so his cheeks were easy for Iroh to reach. 

“Spirits!!” Sokka cried out, finally letting go of Hiyoko to wipe at his cheeks. “What’re you trying to do, freeze my cheeks off?” 

“That’s what you get for fighting against the Steam Kids!!!” Kya bellowed, sliding off his back to shove her fists into the air. 

“‘Steam Kids’?” Sokka repeated with a bemused grin. 

“Aunt Toph calls us that,” Hiyoko explained, “since Dad’s Fire Nation and Mom’s Water Tribe. Fire and water make steam!”

“Yeah, but she calls us the Steam Babies.” Iroh’s face was wrinkled up in exaggerated disgust. “And we’re not babies anymore!” 

“Definitely not,” Sokka agreed with a deep solemnity that made Iroh and Kya grin in satisfaction. “A couple of babies couldn’t defeat the Chief of the Southern Water Tribe like that!”

“What was that?” Sokka’s grandeur vanished with a groan as he turned to face the open flap to the room, where Katara stood with a smile. “Did I hear that right? The Chief of the Southern Water Tribe was defeated by some kids?” 

“Not just any kids!” Iroh declared. “The Steam Kids!! We rescued the future Fire Lord from the clutches of the Chief!” 

“Sokka, are you terrorizing my children?” 

“Oh please,” he scoffed, “Hiyoko said she was cold, so I shared the family secret hugging technique with her.”

“So...yes, you were terrorizing Hiyoko?” 

“It’s ok, Mom! It worked! I’m all warm now!” 

“See? She gets it!” Sokka bent in a showy bow to Hiyoko, who giggled as she returned the gesture. “I can already tell it will be a pleasure to work with you one day, kid.” 

“Spirits help us when that day comes,” Katara sighed, a smile still curving her lips. “Your dad and I have been looking for you mighty warriors, it’s time for family meditation.” A groan echoed through the three children. “Mom, it’s too cold for meditation,” Kya whined. 

“You, little spark, are the last person who should be complaining about the cold. You’re lucky Iroh doesn’t get to dump water on you in this weather.” 

“Ohhh, can I, Mama? Can we spar?” 

“Mooooom, Iroh’s trying to use waterbending for evil!”

“Am not!”

“Are too!” 

“If you two don’t shut up,” Hiyoko suddenly piped up, “I’m gonna stick you on my swords and drag you to meditation myself. Let’s just get it over with.” 

Something about threats coming from the normally-calm 11-year-old always made Iroh and Kya bend to her will, even though she never acted on her threats. Soon the trio were hurrying over to the shrine room. Katara waited until they were gone to let loose the laughter she’d been holding back. “I swear Hyo knows how to get those two under control better than I ever could.” 

“It’s the non-bender spirit in her,” Sokka said with a sage nod, his wise visage immediately broken by a punch on the arm. “Ow, I’m gonna tell your kids you bully your brother! See how easy it is to control them then!” 

“Do that, and I’ll freeze you to the tallest snow dune.” 

“Zuko can help me escape.” 

“Not if he agrees you deserve it.” 

“Can’t believe someone as mean as you could raise such great kids.” 

That made Katara’s smile melt into solemnity. “...You really think so?”

“Think you’re mean?” 

“No, Seaweed Brain, you really think I’m doing an alright job raising them?” 

It was Sokka’s turn to let his smile fall away. “Katara...of course I do. Mom and Dad would be so proud of you. I’m so proud of you.” 

Gratitude and relief shone from Katara’s face, even as tears threatened to spill onto her cheeks. “They’d be proud of you too, Sokka. And so am I.”

gah I love Zutara kids. my fic we walk a fragile line is just about steambabies lol, although it’s also a war-loss au

first of all, evil steambaby. one of Zutara’s kids gets Azulified and they have to deal with that. this kid gets led astray or whatever, but they’re powerful and get radicalized super fast

Zutara definitely have a nonbender kid. I love the idea of Mailee and Sukka teaching this kid how to chi-block/use knives/boomerang/martial arts. bonus points if this kid is heir to the Fire Nation throne

they have one firebender kid who loves their family but feels ostracized because they’re not very good at emotional control and wish that they were a non/waterbender

they have a waterbender who is a big theater nerd like her dad and she and Zuko lowkey ditch everyone else to go see performances sometimes

they go to Ember Island for vacation every year and build up happy memories as a family

depending on whether they live in the Fire Nation or South Pole they visit both during summer in order to stay connected to both of their cultures

one of my fave Zutara hcs especially for no war aus is just them sailing on a ship and going around the world together ahh and all their kids love the thrill

Azula is a quality aunt and even though she definitely encourages evil steambaby and morally is sorta iffy she genuinely loves all of these kids

Sokka and Suki get the kids annoying toys to deal with their parents

nonbender kid is best friends with Tyzula or Mailee and Ty Lee and them have the best times hanging out

one of their kids, probably the waterbender, really wants to be cool and deep like uncle Aang and grandpa Iroh and tries to meditate and does it even if they’re bad at it

ahh I love steambabies very much lol sorry that these are all over the place :)
