like yes i get it i like conflict i like catharsis in stories however im going to be honest every time Daniel and Chozen gave each other little smiles and were just steadfastly there for each other and allowed each other to exist without apology and sought each other out, I did actually for real feel High

#i think super responsible only child daniel who called miyagi his best friend rather than his father figure #who feels the weight of everything and also shame #i think it's beautiful to have someone take care of him and i think only someone who understands his values #ie chozen - could reassure him when he's lost & ashamed #also i do think daniel would never ever ever think it of himself but he's absolutely a little into being taken care of too #alsooo his expression when chozen hustles anoush & louie. lonely kid with someone who actually gets the things he thinks are so cool #that everyone else kind of eyerolls at - karate + miyagi do + mischief and pranks #and for chozen who's just had fake friends to have someone so delighted that see him #he seems like he's found peace in a solitude. he's very internal in a similar way to daniel #where people feel they know them but they're actually very private #anyway yeah he also leans on the charming humor but they're on the same wavelength so they can actually have those #conversations about the crux of things without needing to disclose the history of things #also since everyone drives in that Daniel's older than Johnny. i do like that Chozen's older than Daniel. really adds to their dynamic #that + their curiousity about each other never going away #and i know everyone hates lesbian period pieces and i know it's different in straight relationships but personally #i do find the courtly repression and respectful gentleness hot 😔 also the fact that chozen Will get his hands on daniel #constantlyyy and yet still carries that - regard. a loving teasing #danzen #everytime rewatch i do think daniel should be sitting in Chozen's lap drunk and happy with his arms around his shoulder in the limo #also with how Chozen chokes out helping a friend and pushes his certainty daniel and amanda will be okay #it's just giving devoted & assumed unrequited crush behavior #sorry for still being into repressed queerness but it can also be just as genuine a part of the experience 🤷#i like that rather than defining each other by their very real traumas they both are fueled by values they want to live up to #even as they may fail at that #i like that young chozen was fueled by that too but was trying to make this cocktail of mismatched values work #i like the clarity they bring each other and through that the ability to bring out the real core emotions in each other #and again without having to justify themselves
