Dr. Miller - Pt 1
Orthopedic!Joel Miller x afab!Reader || W/C: 3.5k
Tumblr media
Summary: You’ve been dealing with a pain in your hip for a few weeks now, and it’s time you visit a specialist to see what’s going on.
Warnings: Reader is able-bodied. No physical descriptions for reader, all neutral (“your thigh”, etc). She/her pronouns for reader. Your occupation is a writer (LOL😙). Reader has a weird hatred for doctor appointments. Slight clothing description, no sizes mentioned. Pet names (darlin, angel, girl). Canon divergent - no outbreak, medical professional AU. You and Joel are literally strangers… like… ya just met today. 18+ MDNI. Inherent power imbalance (doctor-patient relations)….doctor’s office….Lots of teasing/dirty talk...oral (f receiving)…“author chose not to use archive warnings” - I don’t want to say too much!!! But pls note that there is explicit sexual activity occurring!!... proceed with horny caution… Please let me know if I need to add anything up here!
A/N: I was talking to @javierpena-inatacvest about a doctor’s experience I had (IT WAS NOWHERE NEAR INAPPROPRIATE LIKE THIS LMAOO JUST TO CLARIFY), and then we started joking around about if Joel were the doctor that I saw. So, I wrote this👹. Also I must mention!! I wouldn’t have been completely inspired/motivated to write this if it weren’t for @swiftispunk’s gynecologist!Joel Miller series she put out a little while ago!! It’s fucking amazing and yummy, and if you haven’t read that yet, DO IT NOW! 🫶 Alrighty, I love you all, I hope you enjoy xxx

Your appointment with DR. MILLER is coming up! Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time: 4:00PM.
You got this text yesterday, grumbling to yourself about the fifteen minute early request. Why not just schedule the appointment for 3:45 then? you thought.
Doctor appointments were your least favorite thing on the planet, no matter the reason. So when your hip started giving you trouble these last few weeks, so much so that you began to walk with a limp, you knew you weren’t going to get away with time as your medicine.
You were pretty knowledgeable when it came to your body — that’s what years of not wanting to see medical professionals have trained you for — so with this particular pain, you knew you had to see a specialist. After doing some research to see which doctors took your insurance, you finally settled on a practice just ten minutes from your house.
You arrived at your appointment at exactly 3:45, filling out the preliminary paperwork in less than five minutes leaving you to wait for ten.
Around 4:01, your name was called by one of the nurses, directing you to a room with two chairs, a medical bed, a light screen on the wall to display x-rays, and a computer screen mounted to the wall with a shelf below for the mouse and keyboard. The computer screen was facing away from where you’d be sitting.
You settle yourself into one of the chairs, waiting for the nurse to start his round of questions only for the doctor to ask you the same thing over again.
“Can you confirm your name and date of birth for me?”
“Mhm,” you reply monotonously, stating your information back to him.
“Great, thanks! And what brings you in today?”
“Well, the last few weeks I’ve had this dull pain in my left hip. It hurts in any kind of position I put it into, and I haven’t really done anything out of routine to trigger this,” you explain, still pretty annoyed.
“And do you have pain right now? Can you rate it, 1 to 10?” The nurse asks as he types up your explanation.
“Mm, I’d say about a 6 right now. Though, the pain has gone up to a 10.”
The nurse hums in acknowledgment, clicking a few things on screen before he sets the computer into sleep mode. “Alright, I’ve put everything you told me in your chart. Dr. Miller will be in here shortly to review it over with you and get to the bottom of your pain. I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with this for a few weeks!”
His sweet and validating demeanor is like a slap to the face. He’s just doing his job, while you’re over here being not as sweet for absolutely no reason. You let out a deep sigh before you give the nurse an apologetic smile. “Thank you,” you say sincerely. “I really appreciate your help.”
“Just doing my job,” he responds with a smile, shutting your door softly to give you some privacy while you wait.
Maybe you’ve been a little harsh towards the people in this field. Yeah, you’ve had some shit experiences, and maybe that’s why you’ve always loathed appointments of any kind, but not all of them are that way. Some are simply just doing their job.
A few minutes pass, and a small knock to your door pulls you out of your thoughts.
“Hey, there, I’m Dr. Miller,” the man says, a deep southern drawl blessing your ears.
The moment your eyes drag up to meet the tall man before you, all words and breath are stolen from your lungs.
Oh, fuck.
Dr. Miller is fucking hot.
His eyebrows begin to furrow, staring at you a little longer before saying your name questioningly, followed by a “Right?”
Finally, you break out from your trance, realizing you’re utterly staring. Your eyes go wide, and you realize he’s been holding his hand out for you to shake. “Oh, shit..” you mutter to yourself. “Hi, yes, that’s me- sorry, Dr. Miller-” you ramble, cheeks on fire as you shakily reach for his hand.
A soft chuckle escapes his mouth, and God, your entire body starts to grow hot. “No worries, darlin’,” he smiles. God, his smile. What kind of water does this man drink?
You laugh nervously as your heart lurches in your chest from his name for you. Bedside manner, you think. He probably calls all his patients some kind of nickname. For comforting purposes. Right? You keep quiet, not wanting to let more words slip from your mouth in the case that you embarrass yourself more.
Dr. Miller logs himself into the computer, his eyes squinting at the screen as he reads the notes the nurse left behind.
“Few weeks… dull pain… left hip…” he whispers to himself. “Uh huh,” he says as he finishes reading. “And you’re sure you don’t recall doin’ anythin’ out of your regular routine?”
“No, Dr. Miller, I really can’t,” you grimace, hating that you really don’t know what’s wrong.
As he sits there contemplating, you can physically see the gears turning in his head, and it’s just about the hottest thing you have ever seen. He is just about the hottest thing you’ve ever seen-
“Wait,” he says, the lightbulb shining bright above his head.
“What?” You reply a little too eager for your liking.
“What do you do for work, darlin’?” He asks, scrolling through your chart once more to see if your occupation is on file.
The second he asks the question, you feel your face flush impossibly more, knowing damn well where this conversation is going.
You hesitate before you answer. “...I’m…I’m a writer…” you whisper, a defeated smile weakly plastered across your face.
His eyebrows raise, a silent smug uh huh already bouncing around in your brain.
“And do you, uh… you sit a lot? Don’t ya?” Dr. Miller asks, knowing your answer already.
“I do,” you admit, your hands going up to cover your face, your guilt.
“And I reckon you forget to take them breaks? Stretch out your body a bit, huh?” Dr. Miller has given up hiding his shit-eating grin at this point.
“You reckon right,” you mirror his sentiment.
“Mhm,” he hums. He waits for you to remove your hands from your face and you meet his eyes. When you do, he cocks his head to the side, gesturing to the bed. “Hop up there real quick, I wanna try somethin’.”
“Oh, okay,” you say softly, sitting at the edge of the bed timidly. His hands reach for your shoulders first, guiding you to lay flat on your back. “I’m gonna slide you closer to the edge here, so your legs dangle off. That okay?”
“Yeah,” you squeak out, your breath struggling to make its way to your lungs at the way his ginormous hands ghost the coast of your thigh.
At your confirmation, his hands secure themselves on the underside of your thighs, pulling you to the very edge of the bed, your hips nearly an inch away from being right against his own. You swear he can hear the rapid beat of your heart right now.
“Still alright there?” he asks. So attentive, you think. You catch yourself smirking, immediately placing your hand over your mouth. You give him a muffled mhm in response.
“Let me know if I’m hurtin’ ya at all, okay, darlin’? I’ll stop,” he tells you as he slowly begins guiding your legs open. He spreads your legs into a near butterfly position — you can feel the tightness in your hips slowly start to release. “Deep breath in and out, it relaxes your body more.”
And to your surprise, it does. You take one deep breath in, then out, and you can feel your legs fall even wider, your hip joint completely relaxed and not as tight as it was when you came in.
“Atta girl,” Dr. Miller beams, feeling the stretch. Your heartbeat floats down to the heart between your legs under his praise, and all you wish you could do right now is shut your legs in case of any wetness that’s bound to say hello any minute now because you are fucking soaked. You knew you should’ve worn underwear today, damn it.
He keeps you in this position for a minute, letting your body enjoy the freedom of pain. If he can feel your body beginning to squirm — and not out of any discomfort — he doesn’t say anything. Although he can’t deny the pretty intimate position he’s put you two into. And, you are quite beautiful. He couldn’t help the butterflies in his gut when he first walked in. And seeing you get all flustered with him? It was so damn cute-
“Why the left?” He blurts out, trying to get his thoughts away from the fact that he’s holding you open and can practically smell the arousal radiating from you — nevermind the tiniest hint of your wetness leaking through your sweatpants.
You track your eyes to his. His gaze was somewhere else before he met yours. “Huh?” You ask, too distracted to register his sudden question.
“You, uh- you say you write. And you sit. A lot. How are you sittin’ that it’s only your left buggin’ ya?”
“Oh,” you sigh. “Yeah… I probably don’t sit in very good positions…” you admit. His eyebrow quirks. You explain more. “…I sit…with my left leg propped up-”
“Jesus,” Joel cuts you off with a headshake. “Well, I mean. You’re pretty flexible,” he says as he, without thinking, squeezes your thigh. “Maybe you oughta incorporate yoga or somethin’ throughout your day,” he suggests.
The tiniest of gasps leave your throat at the sensation. “Yeah, maybe,” you reply breathily.
“Y’know what, let’s try one more thing, alright? How you feelin’, you okay still, darlin’?”
“I’m good, Dr. Miller,” you reply honestly, your head feeling like it’s floating already the longer you stay in his presence and his touch.
He smiles at you, his eyes warm with a hint of something else you can’t — or shouldn’t — pinpoint. He places both hands on your left thigh, one on the outside and one on the inside. “Alright, I’m gonna pull your thigh over your right one. Try ‘n keep your back flat on the bed. I wanna see how this stretch makes you feel. Again, darlin’, let me know if I’m hurtin’ ya.”
The second your thigh crosses over, a shameless moan leaves your throat — your legs crossing did absolutely nothing to ease your aching center, only stimulating the smallest but sweetest amount of friction to get you to break. “Fuck-” you gasp, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry- that was loud-”
You glance at Dr. Miller. He’s already looking at you, a pained look on his face. He’s tense. The grip he has on your thigh is tightening, but you don’t say anything. You don’t want to. “You don’t need to apologize for that, angel,” he coos. “It’s such a relief when you finally get that release, huh?”
“Ye- yeah,” you manage, your voice barely a whisper, your eyes transfixed on the way his hands look on your body. He’s guiding you back into your first position, the one that opens you for him.
“Yeah,” he repeats. “Ya just needed to be opened up a bit. Ain’t that right, angel?” He asks, hands fixed on the inside of both your thighs, dangerously close to where you desperately need him.
Your breathing is heavy, heart running a mile a minute. “Dr. Miller,” you whine. “Please,” your eyebrows furrow, eyelids fluttering shut on the high your body is giving you.
One of his hands scoot closer in, his thumb slowly starts to caress the outer part of your pussy. “What‘s wrong, darlin’? Are ya in pain now?”
“Mhm,” you whimper, hips bucking into his hold.
“Where, baby? Tell me where, let me fix it for you,” he says in a baby, almost mockful tone. You’re too fucking turned on to analyze how he’s speaking to you. All you know is that you need his fingers, his tongue, his cock — something, to fuck you right now.
You buck your hips once more, wordlessly showing him where. That won’t do for Dr. Miller. “Need to hear ya, angel,” he says, a mix of comfort yet stern in his voice.
“F-fuck-” you let out. You are not about to beg your doctor to touch you right now. That is wrong on so many levels. Especially for him. He could lose his license, his entire career, his-
“Touch me, Dr. Miller, please,” you whisper desperately, not wanting to be too loud in case anyone passes by.
A satisfied grin spreads between his cheeks. He taps your hip once, and you lift up, letting his fingers hook themselves in the hem to slide them off you. He whistles lowly at the sight, his head softly shaking in disbelief. “God damn, angel. This messy for me, baby?”
You nod your head rapidly, soft mewls of an affirmative leave your throat.
Dr. Miller pulls the rolling chair underneath himself and he sits, lining his face right up against your sex. His hands are fixed on the outsides of your thighs, keeping you open for him. He leans in and breathes deeply. His lip twitches. His eyes are on yours again, dark, pleading. “Tell me to stop,” he mutters.
“What?” you ask, dizzy at the notion that this man — your doctor — that you just met is mere centimeters away from your sex.
“Tell me to stop,” he nearly demands.
You shift your hips, bringing yourself closer to his mouth.
“No.”
“Fuckin’ christ, girl,” he snarls.
His fingers dig into your thighs, his face diving right into your core. He licks the entirety of you with the flat of his tongue, the slick building between your folds causing his eyes to fly back.
You’re no better as your hand flies to your mouth, biting into your flesh to stop yourself from moaning out. He can feel your body writhe in his grasp, your hips utterly begging to grind against his scruffy face and hooked nose.
Your fast-paced breathy whimpers mixed with the sounds of Dr. Miller’s slurping are all what consumes the room — consuming him, consuming you.
His tongue massages around your entrance before he finally pushes himself in, his nose pushing against your pulsing clit.
“Oh, Dr. Miller, yes-” you gasp out, particularly loud, at the action. You fully slap your hand over your mouth this time, immediately muffling the uncontrollable lewdness spilling from your mouth.
Dr. Miller reluctantly pulls his tongue from you and wraps his mouth around your bud, sucking and swirling his tongue against every sweet spot of yours, nearly yanking you to your mind-blowing high. One hand leaves your thigh and makes its way to you. He rubs his middle and ring finger in your arousal before he pushes his fingers inside of you, pumping at the same pace his tongue works your clit, and that’s what does it.
“Fuckfuckfuck-!” You scream out into your hand, biting into your palm with a sheer force you know your hand will suffer the consequences from later. He groans into your cunt, his vibrations sending further tingles up your spine. Your hips buck into Dr. Miller’s face once more, drawing out the pure ecstasy you never knew existed.
Dr. Miller’s head finally lifts off you, a blissed look written all over his shiny face. His fingers come to a halt and find their way into his mouth; Dr. Miller is very thorough in making sure he doesn’t waste a drop.
The action sends you clenching on nothing, and Dr. Miller’s knees damn near buckle at the sight.
He checks the clock on his watch, and he’s still on track with his timing. His hands mindlessly reach for his pants, but he pauses as he finally realizes what the fuck he’s just done and actually doing right now.
You notice his hesitancy, and you know it’s probably the more rational decision to just stop right here. To stop this from going any further. To let this appointment come to an end, go home, and search for a new doctor. But when your eyes drag down to the tenting fabric of his scrubs, all rational thought fades from your brain.
“Dr. Miller,” you whisper, bringing his attention back to you. You let your legs fall impossibly wider, allowing him the space to slot his broad body between your thighs. And just like that, his hunger is back.
He pulls his pants just enough to free himself, and holy fuck, is he huge. Thick and uncut, a slight lean to the right, and your mouth fucking drools. “Good god, you’re fucking huge,” you laugh nervously, your face hotter than the depths of hell.
He pumps his length once, a smirk forming at your comment as he makes his way to you. He lets it rest against your drenched folds, advancings his hips softly. His tip catches at your clit, your heart skipping a beat at the sensation. “Yeah?” Dr. Miller asks. “You nervous, angel?”
You look away from him, bashful at the question. “A little,” you admit.
His hand reaches for your face, his thumb and pointer finger grabbing on your chin to make you look at him. “It’ll fit, angel,” he reassures.
“You sure?”
“We’ll make it fit,” he tells you.
Withdrawing himself all the way back, he guides his tip to your entrance, settling his fingers to your clit, pulling more wetness from you to make this as easy as possible.
Steadily, Dr. Miller begins to push in, and right away, the stretch stings, a pained groan falls from your lips. He stops, his hands on your cheeks immediately.
“You okay?” he grunts, trying his best to stay composed at how tight you are with him barely inside you.
You open your mouth to answer, but something else — someone else beats you.
“Dr. Miller,” a nurse talks through the door, two knocks preceding their words. “Everything okay in there? Your next appointment just arrived.”
Calm and collected, like the head of his cock is not inside of you right now, he responds. “Just finishin’ up,” he calls out. “Gimme a minute.”
Both of you remain completely still, waiting to hear the footsteps walk away. After a beat, both of you release a heavy breath neither of you realize were holding.
Dr. Miller looks at you apologetically, both of you wincing as he pulls out of you. He pulls his pants back up in an awkwardly charged silence, tucking his shirt back in before he picks up your sweats off the ground and helps you back into them.
Without another word, he starts for the door.
“Dr. Miller…” you trail off, nervous.
He freezes, turning his body to you, but not meeting your face. He knows if he looks into those eyes, no one will be able to pull him from this room. “I’ve gotta get to my next patient, darlin’,” he tells you. “I’m sorry.”
The door clicks, and you’re all alone, the tears threatening to fall at the whiplash of emotional highs. You hear another soft knock, so you wipe your eyes away, your wishful thinking hoping that you don’t look as wrecked as you feel.
The nurse who took the intake questions opens the door. “You’re all set,” he says with a smile.
“Thank you,” you say as you gather your things.
Before you can reach the exit, a woman calls out for you. “Oh, wait up! Did Dr. Miller say when he wants to see you next?”
“Oh, um…” you pretend to recall. You two were a little too occupied with other things to get to that part of the appointment.
“No, he didn’t- I don’t think- I, um, I can’t remember,” you stammer, the flow of your beating heart roaring in your ears.
“That’s no worries at all, honey. You’re good to go, then, I’ll talk with Dr. Miller, and we’ll get scheduling to call you back, okay? Have a wonderful rest of your evening,” she tells you.
As soon as you get home, you plop into your bed, eyes stinging, pussy pulsing and wet, your heart full of every emotion under the sun.
You’re unsure of what to do or how to feel now, but one thing is for sure.
You need to see him again.
Tumblr media
“Dr. Miller,” his nurse calls.
“Yeah, Dee, what’s up?”
“Your 4 o’ clock-” Dee repeats your name from the patient chart she’s looking at. “When did you wanna see her again?”
“Oh, uh-”
She speaks once more, her eyes fixed on the paperwork before her. “Her problems sound like a chiro’s issue, don’t they? Why don’t I just send a referral-”
“No,” he cuts off, a little too much power to his voice. He clears his throat. “Sorry- uh, I mean- no as in, I’ll treat her. She mentioned somethin’ else that seems more complex for one of them chiros, no offense to them. I just wanna check one more thing before I can diagnose and create a plan,” he explains.
“Okay,” she says without rebuttal. “When should we schedule her?”
“As soon as possible.”

How Run On subverts the noble idiocy trope
Another week, another amazing two episodes from Run On!! This drama really hasn’t let me down, and I want to go into detail about one specific aspect I really like, before quickly reviewing the last two episodes as a whole.
One thing that really bothers me w Kdramas--and Kdrama fans will be familiar with this--is the noble idiocy trope. And this is a trope that is pretty uniquely Asian, I think because of a cultural tendency to put quiet sacrifice on a pedestal. In Japanese, we call in 我慢 (gaman). The trope has traditionally manifested in “rich guy parents threaten poor girl that she’s ruining his future, poor girl breaks up with rich guy “for his good”” or the same trope setting, but “rich guy breaks up with poor girl so that his parents won’t bully her.” Another very common version of this trope is the tangent to the Dying Sick Girl/Guy trope, where the sick person doesn’t tell the healthy person so that they may live on happily without them.
The issue with this trope is multifold. First, it is disrespectful. It is most respectful to tell the whole truth to a person, and let them make decisions about their own future. It is not your call to make decisions on behalf of them, pretending to know what is best for them. At it’s core, I think it’s honestly super rude and it feels like you don’t trust their judgement, and see them as a child, rather than a romantic partner.
Second, it drags on angst for no reason. It’s yet another thing that could be solved with a very quick conversation, but isn’t. I don’t know why show writers do not seem to get this, but as an audience it is simply boring, because the emotional tension is all false. It’s not like there’s actually any deep conflict, it’s just a misunderstanding.
It also upholds the romantic drama/romcom promise of The One True Perfect Love. Making it out as if the person is lying/hurting/breaking up for the good of the other person, allows for conflict, without ruining the fantasy that there could be no motive for the character’s actions other than The One True Perfect Love. It is in fact the overwhelming force of this One True Perfect Love that is destroying itself (hurting someone for their benefit, because you just love them so much), and there is no need for the writers to actually come up with other character motivations, flaws, etc.
And in the face of this, Run On completely departs to create an actual multi-dimensional, realistic conflict for the leads (and I am building on some of the thought’s written in this amazing blog post). It was absolutely painful to watch them (maybe?) break up at the end of the last episode, but the conflict was not rooted in some lame misunderstanding that could be cleared up with a conversation. And it was not their unrealistic, undying, all consuming love for each other that was the only motive to their actions.
Of course they want what is best for each other (especially Seongyeom, as it’s his dad that caused the problem, so of course he feels bad), but their relationship is also new, and the dad being a creepy and unethical snooper is an immense pressure on a new relationship that were realistically expressed. The lines I liked most were actually Mijoo’s, where she says “Must I continue seeing him at the expense of myself?...Why must I continue wearing shoes that don’t fit me?” Referencing an earlier scene where she gives him a book on self-love, and shows him the chapter that says “don’t wear shoes that don’t fit you.” Meaning, in the same way she wants him to learn to love himself, she also doesn’t want to sacrifice her own self-love for the benefit of dating him. And she goes onto say, “I am precious to myself, so I want to give up [on their relationship]...you said it was ok, to say a mistake.”
There’s quite a lot to unpack there, but I like how she is being honest about her emotions, but also aware that her words right now are emotionally charged and might not reflect her real thoughts, (”you said it was ok, to say a mistake”). But more importantly, her clearly stated motives are that she is important to herself. She values herself. It is not some noble idiocy that is motivating her to break up with him for his good or for the greater good--it is for herself. And that is so refreshing, in the Kdrama world where everything has to be done sacrificially in the name of romantic love, and self-love is covertly seen as selfish/conceited. I actually don’t know if I’ve even heard an Asian drama character ever even voice that they are precious/important to themselves, and will set boundaries accordingly. AHHHHH I love this drama so much...even in the heart wrenching break up scene where I was yelling “No! No! Noooo!” to the computer, it still managed to break stereotypes.
Some final thoughts on these two episodes: THE SECOND LEAD COUPLE FINALLY GOT TOGETHER!! Omg. My friend and I watching the drama together (check out her blog @dreamctz) replayed that scene so many times. Their banter about what she should call him (him wanting to graduate early so that she would stop calling him “haksaeng”/student) was just *chef’s kiss*. And are we going to talk about how Seongyeom’s dad literally said he thought it was too bad he couldn’t HIT MIJOO!! WTFFFFF. That gremlin can catch these hands before he so much as TOUCHES my queen Mijoo. Also Shin Saekyoung’s acting in this was really superb in this episode, just wanted to point that out.
Also! because I was talking about this with my friend, there’s an extension called Language Learning with Netflix that allows you to see the Korean CC, English translation, and when you hover your mouse over the Korean, you can see the definition/meaning of each word and save vocab words! Just thought it was a super cool extension--I use it when rewatching old shows I love! It only works w dramas that already have Korean CC, which Run On does, so excuse me while I rewatch my favorite scenes until next week :))

My iPega 9069 Game Controller Review w/ my UGREEN USB Bluetooth Adapter (Recorded Video) - Part 12 (Final) [Feb 27, 2021]
Here’s my “Final Part” of my former used iPega 9069 wireless controller.🎮😊 Now originally I was gonna make another part review topic of my UGREEN USB Bluetooth Adapter, but I want to do some change around. And despite that I made this part finale, is because I’m recently use my trusty 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ gamepad as my “new” primary wireless controller over my old iPega.
But first things first, I would like to apologize for being inactive my main tumblr blog. I’m now mainly focus on my secret blog account, and I have a tons of it; even thing I would refuse to show ya, because it’s exclusively to my “trusted” closes friends. Not only that but also other stuff too that I won’t share ya because it’s MY BUSINESS. I haven’t continue my ongoing review topics such a this, so I’ll try to finish these once and for all until I move on to the next.😌
So nevertheless, let’s go back to my recent topic....
Now in this final part, I’m attempt to connect my old and former wireless controller, the iPega 9069 wireless controller using my usual USB Bluetooth Adapter from the UGREEN brand on my Windows 10 PC and let see how it performs from all different game emulators on my digital folder and also PC games (namely two GTA games).
And if you haven’t seen my previous part 11 yet, then please [CLICK ME!].
*But before that, I want YOU… Yes you, which you’re reading my description. I want you to watch my recorded video first 📹📲 (as a observation) before you read the rest of my reaction experience. Hope you’re watching…
BTW: I use CloudConvert [CLICK ME!] once again, to tone down the video record size from the original. It may have different video quality but at least you can watch and see what I’m doing.🙂
So without further ado, let’s get started:
My Experience: • (Now as you already done watching video.) I’m doing the same thing as I did to my current wireless game controller the 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ 🎮, so I don’t need to explain the same procedure and I’ll be target on other parts of my recorded (converted) video.📹📲
• Unlike my current 8bitdo gamepad where I need to press specific buttons, I only pressed the home button on the top part of my former used iPega (9069) gamepad; continuing pressing however, and it’ll automatically pairing/searching a new device. And once that I’m adding a new Bluetooth device through my Windows 10 PC and connect it anyways 🖥️📶🎮. My former iPega gamepad  (connection name “PG-9069″) didn’t recognize as a gamepad icon but rather a mouse & keyboard icon 🎮➡️⌨️🖱️, weird but it’s connected nonetheless.
• Now as I go to the gamepad tester website [CLICK ME!], all the physical buttons and triggers are perfectly functional including the mouse touchpad built-in, not to mention that I’m D-Input mode because I’m in wireless connection. Except however the “turbo” and “macro” buttons which is didn’t present the button test; at least I didn’t use it, after all more or less. I’m a little concern about the D-pad, and yes I’ve already covered this issue before so let me ya, it didn’t very well... Sure it works just fine but it becomes wear off 😕 after I over press and it became harder than before. And that’s why I’m so hard to earn some money to get a higher worthy wireless controller with my recent 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ gamepad. Damn I really love the D-pads from SN30 Pro+, all thanks to the retro style D-pad mechanism from the 80′s and it  never fails on every game genres.😊
•Anyways I tried all emulator games I have on my Windows 10 PC and everything is a okay, albeit in a mapping settings on different emulator(s). 🖥️🎮 The current ePSXe version 2.0.5  (Sony PlayStation 1 emulator) however, it wasn’t.🙁 Why? Well I’m having trouble on mapping controls, it didn’t recognize though. I even try to restart my Windows 10 PC and it didn’t effect at all. On the other hand the old ePSXe version 1.7.0 is surprisingly recognize my former iPega controller, it’s no wonder that the version 2.0.5 didn’t so lucky on my Windows 10 PC (unlike my old former Lenovo laptop) and it needs an update patch in the future.
•The ePSXe ver. 2.0.5 wasn’t the only one that has a problem, both standalone GTA San Andreas and GTA V Online are also have a same unrecognize controller problems using my former iPega controller.🙁 The only thing did work on both GTA SA and V Online was the mouse touchpad and that’s it. But will I use it during my gameplay? Well nope, it only works on the menu/pause menu.  And speaking of touchpad, the upper part had already malfunction when I use my single finger to drag, meaning using the touchpad from my former iPega gamepad was utterly useless.😕
Overall: • With my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ gamepad as my currently use gamepad, well I have to say that my old used iPega controller is now put in the box where it belongs. Although, I did browse on the official iPega website to check more information about the 9069 wireless controller and I’m surprise that there is a update software for that specific controller [CLICK ME!].😯🖱️ However it turns out that it says “upgrade version support direct play PUBG on Android device”📲 [CLICK ME!], and that’s pretty much it. Yeah well I’m NOT a huge fan and/or interest of battle royale games so I’ll just ignore it. I’m happy with my SN30 Pro+ gamepad from 8bitdo connecting through my UGREEN USB Bluetooth Adapter to play any games without noticing issues at all.😊🎮

Chapter 7 - Good Mourning, Fluttershy
When Fluttershy left the castle, she decided she’d take her time for a bit before heading out to invite who she wants to. Besides, she had animals to feed both at the sanctuary near her cottage and in her home first. She shopped at the markets in Ponyville for vegetables and other kinds of pet food. Even visiting a fish store that while Ponies did not eat fish, they’re still sold as food for many ponies who have pets with carnivore diets. While fish are animals too, and Fluttershy enjoys seeing fishes when she’s swimming. She understands that she can’t force the carnivores to become herbivores. Depriving dogs, cats, bears, etc. of the diet they’re naturally attuned to would be wrong even if Fluttershy feels bad for the poor fish.
To be a nature lover like Fluttershy. you sometimes just have to understand that nature isn’t always kind. Even as the element of kindness, she can’t bend nature to her will. Though perhaps to the comfort of Fluttershy, for many of the fish that are sold as pet food, the very nature of those species is to be so plentiful as to allow the ones that avoid being caught or eaten survive to eventually give birth to more.
After finishing up her shopping, she flies over to the sanctuary and gives all animals she come across food to eat, to all kinds currently in her sanctuary. From amphibians, to birds, to insects, to mammals, and reptiles. The sanctuary gives Fluttershy a way to observe the animals she loves as they should be out in the wild rather then being confined to her home or for some of them, risking having to trek the Everfree in order to see them. Though Fluttershy still lets many of the smaller animals take shelter in her home, as many parts of her cottage include birdhouses, mouse holes, etc. She moved most animals she had to the sanctuary, but she still very much has her own little animal neighborhood to come home to whenever she walked in. Speaking of which, it was time to head in to her cottage to feed said little neighborhood.
She heads to the front door of her cottage, and opens the door to greet her many, many, small roommates.
Fluttershy: Goooooood morning! I have fresh treats for all of you.
Many animals comes out of their hiding places and approach Fluttershy to receive food and/or care from the loving pegasus that has let them seek shelter in her home. Suddenly she gets a few pokes on her flank from what definitely is an impatient bunny rabbit.
Fluttershy: Oh don’t worry Angel, I didn’t forget about you. Here’s a nice bowl of carrots for you.
Fluttershy leaves the bowl of carrots, and the feisty little bunny starts munching. Fluttershy gives a generally pleased look as a good majority of her animals are fed. Though she does notice a rather odd absence of a certain group in her household.
Fluttershy: Say, I don’t suppose any of you have seen any sign of Mr. Mousey or anyone in his family have you?
The animals listening to her either shrug or shake their head from side-to-side. Mr. Mousey is one of the ol’ veteran animals that’s been in the house around for years and barely ever missed feeding time even when he’s confined to a tiny wheelchair. Either his wife or his child who has grown up now helping him when it was time. Fluttershy walks on over to the mouse hole she knows Mr. Mousey and his family lives.
Fluttershy: Mr. Mousey? Are you doing alright? You’re starting to worr- *peeks into the hole* GAAAAASSSSSSSSP
Fluttershy screams, in the hole is… Mr. Mousey slumped in his chair having passed away in his old age, his light-grey wife Mrs. Mousey covering her eyes with her tiny claws and crying. Their grown-up white son holding on to his old mother in comfort and mutual grief for the death of his father.
Fluttershy: MISTER MOUSSSEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYY NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Fluttershy averts her eyes from the hole . Lays down on the ground and just starts tearing up heavily. Once again, a beloved animal resident has died in her home. Fluttershy’s been through this many times as an animal caretaker. But it never really gets any easier to see, she can never be numb to the death of an animal she raised in the house.
The other animals seeing the grieving Fluttershy immediately come to her to comfort her as best they can.
Fluttershy: t-t-Thank y-you a-a-all… *sniff* It’s j-just s-still s-so -s-sad… Mr. Mousey’s life was just a little bit longer then the friendship with my other friends here for the exception of Rainbow Dash! *sniff* I-i-i remember when h-he… w-was just a k-kid m-m-mouse that was looking for f-food… I-i-i gave him a piece of cheese… a-and t-then he started c-coming back for m-more. In time s-showing up one time with a m-mate. A-and t-that’s when I d-decided to g-give them a m-mouse hole h-home… had their c-child h-ere and e-e-e-everything *sniff*
Fluttershy putting her face back on the ground and continues sobbing. Eventually she’s going to have to pick herself up. Put the body of Mr. Mousey in a nice box and bury him in an area near the edge of the everfree where Fluttershy buries all her deceased pets. She’s wobbly and still weak in the knees from the sheer sadness she feels. But she proceeds to start to do so. She finds a box, pulls out some cotton floof from her pillows, puts it in the box and leaves it just outside the hole. Signaling Mr. Mousey’s family to bring the wheelchair out of the hole for the last time to bring his body for Fluttershy to put in the box. Fluttershy carefully holds the body and lays him to rest in the cushioned box that now serves as a coffin for her beloved old mouse pet. She takes one last look at the body of Mr. Mousey, noticeably she actually sees that Mr. Mousey has a smile on his face. Sort of actually comforting Fluttershy, as she at least views that he lived quite abnormally long for a mouse, and he died happy. Fluttershy closes the box and ties a ribbon around it. Meanwhile, Mrs. Mousey and her son get up onto Fluttershy’s back using their claws to climb Fluttershy’s long tail to take part in the funeral.
It was now time to take the long walk to her pet cemetery again.
((Story continues after the break))
Moments later, Fluttershy reaches the cemetery of all her pets of the past, she reaches for a shovel she leaves there, and makes a small hole big enough to bury Mr. Mousey. She places the box down, and proceeds to bury the box. Once that’s done, Fluttershy, Mrs. Mousey, and Mr. Mousey’s son put their hooves/claws together in a praying position. Paying their last respects for the old mouse.
A few minutes later, suddenly Fluttershy feels what seems to be rain.
Fluttershy: Is it starting to rain? I didn’t think the weather patrol had rain scheduled today… but I guess perhaps even the planet is crying for Mr. Mousey...
But then Fluttershy see something a little odd about the rain, it was brown, and when she gave it a lick it tasted like… chocolate milk! Fluttershy looks above her is a big pink cotton candy cloud. Cotton candy clouds and chocolate rain could only be the work of…
Fluttershy: Discord, I know that’s you up there…
Sure enough a neck cranes down from the side of the cloud and goes down to Fluttershy’s level on the ground.
Discord: Hello dear, Fluttershy, How are things with you today?
Fluttershy: I’m not sure I’ll be in any mood for your antics today, Discord. Mr. Mousey h-has.. p-passed a-away… you happened to interrupt during my f-funeral for him...
Discord: Mr. Mousey kicked the bucket today? Shoot, he made one heck of a cup of tea.
Fluttershy: Wait, you’ve drank tea with Mr. Mousey?
Discord: Yes, I actually taught him how, and then he proceeded to make better tea then I ever could. Granted he can’t make a lot of tea given he was a mouse. Though it certainly feels like more then it is, when I’ve shrunken myself.
Fluttershy: I wish I knew that sooner, I would of liked to shrink myself with you to Mr. Mousey’s hole at least one time… *sniff*
Discord: Well I think thankfully his wife knows how to make tea as well, so there’s always that some other time.
Fluttershy: I suppose that’s true, but it also would of been neat to be at Mr. Mousey’s size as equals for once before he passed.
Fluttershy briefly goes back into a praying position. Discord ponders for a little bit before proposing something to Fluttershy.
Discord: You know Fluttershy, I COULD probably revive Mr. Mousey and the other pets in this cemetery if you wante-
Fluttershy: NO ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Discord: You didn’t even let me fin-
Fluttershy: Discord, I know how your chaos magic works by now. I’m not letting you turn all my beloved pets from my entire life as an animal caretaker become a zombie army that ravages through Ponyville!
Fluttershy wasn’t quite giving Discord “The Stare” but she nonetheless was not having any tolerance for Discord’s suggestion
Discord: What? It’d be an exciting episode of this sh-
A ringtone rings.
Discord: Hold on, I think that’s my agent
Fluttershy: ...Your what now?
Discord picks up the phone
Discord: Yes….?
Wait, what do you mean the show ended after the 9th season?!  I didn’t even get to have a chance to make up for what I was written to do in the finale! Apparently some hated that...
Well what am I doing here then?!
Oh? I’m in a blog or website fan fiction that continues where things left off?
Bleh, this is just going to be full of namby-pamby dramatic twists & reveals, and chock full of the emotional drivel that fans like to call “feels”.
I’ll stick around, but you better be taking calls for some better gigs right now!
Fluttershy just stands there confused
Discord: Ok Fluttershy, now I know what we’re in. What direction do you want to go in? Should we share a sob story each of what life we had with Mr. Mousey, perhaps an arc about his little son picking up the mantle? or perhaps... a plot twist that Mr. Mousey was actually murdered and we look for suspects!
Fluttershy: …I have no idea what you’re talking about
Discord: Really Fluttershy, it us all so simpl-
Fluttershy: DISCORD! Enough shenanigans, a dear pet to me just died and you’re making things worse when you’re like this as I’m grieving…
Discord: Oh… I guess you’re right, Fluttershy. I’m sorry, let me do something to try to make it up to you.
Discord makes a grave that’s ‘like 100x larger then the actual burial spot where Mr. Mousey’s body is. Fluttershy takes a close look and reads the epitaph “Here lies Mr. Mousey, a husband, a father, and the kindest, best tea-making, wheel-chair bound mouse who shall forever be eating his favorite cheeses to his heart content up in the sky”. She admits that it was at least a little touching.
Fluttershy: Thank you Discord, that’s much better.
Discord: You’re welcome, Fluttershy.
Fluttershy: I think I’m ready to get back home, wanna go with m- whaaaaaa!
Discord snapped his claw hand, and him, Fluttershy, along with what’s left of the mouse family are already teleported back in the living room.
Discord: Why walk, when you have me!
Fluttershy: Well maybe it could of been a nice stroll, you know? But oh well… I have something to ask you Discord.
Discord: Oh no, is this the moment of the fan fiction you confess your love to me and ask me on a date? And does the author of this want me to be happy about that or not?
Fluttershy: What? No, I was inviting you to a royal ball!
Discord: Where’ll we end up dancing in the ballroom together singing a song like a certain romantic fairy tale. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know the drill.
Fluttershy: *facehoofs* Ugh, you’re impossible sometimes. I’m offering an invite to you just as one of my friends to take to Saddle Arabia.
Discord: Saddle Arabia? Wasn’t that the place you and the others almost were killed by an insane stallion who mind controlled Twilight?! Perhaps, I should actually come just for your security…
Fluttershy: Well, Twilight and the royal family there are taking extra precautions. But if you feel you could provide more security for us you’re free to.
Discord: Perhaps, though say what was the name of the bad person you girls defeated there?
Fluttershy: Zathir
Discord: Yes, I could also come over there to haunt Zathir’s dreams for daring to try to harm a single feather on you.
Discord suddenly wearing a black hat, red and green striped hat, and gloves with sharp knives protruding from them
Discord: This… is Chaos
Fluttershy: Heh, it wasn’t so funny at the time given it was a life or death situation. But I was the one that ultimately brought him down because I knocked the lamp down as he was battling with Spike.
Discord: Ah yes, perfect! I can have him replay that moment of his life over-and-over again. Mua hahahaha!
Fluttershy: *giggles* Well, anyway just to be sure. You DO want to go, right?
Discord: Of course.
Fluttershy: Good, now I can go find a few more friends to get here. I can use my gum portals to…
Discord: Why bother? You got me, tell me who you plan to invite and I can just snap them here, and snap them back once they’ve said yes.
Fluttershy: That sounds kinda rude… but uh if say I came across Bulk Biceps in Ponyville…
*SNAP*
Bulk Biceps: YEEAAAAAA- Oof
Bulk Biceps lands on the floor of the cottage.
Fluttershy: Uh hi Bulk, sorry for that. But I guess I get to invite you Saddle Arabia for a royal ball. You want to go?
Bulk Biceps: YEEEEAAAAA-
*SNAP*
Bulk Biceps is teleported back to where he was
Fluttershy: Um, Discord if you’re going to teleport my invitees here at least allow me some time to talk to them.
Discord: I mean, to be fair it’s his gag that YEAAAAA is all he says. So I’m not sure the conversation was going to be much anyway…
Fluttershy: Anyway… next is my parents and my brother.
*SNAP*
Fluttershy’s parents and Zephyr Breeze are teleported to the cottage.
Posey Shy (Fluttershy’s Mother): Whoa!
Gentle Breeze (Fluttershy’s Father): Huh? What are we doing in Fluttershy’s cottage?
Zephyr Breeze: Sis, just what in the name of Celestia is happening?
Fluttershy: Sorry, all of you. I’m inviting friends and family to an event I’m going to, and I guess Discord wants to speed things up a bit by simply bringing who I want to bring here. Don’t worry, he’ll bring you right back to whatever you were doing before.
Posey Shy: Where are you going?
Fluttershy: There will be a royal ball in Saddle Arabia all my friends are bringing their families as well as some of their own friends they’ve met around the world. You don’t have to go if you don’t want to, just thought I’d offer.
Gentle Breeze: Well sure, I suppose. A nice trip to somewhere new could be nice.
Posey Shy: I’m interested
Zephyr Breeze: I’ll gladly go, another chance to make my move on a certain wonderbolt friend of yours… *wiggles his eyebrow*
Fluttershy rolls her eyes, she’s going to enjoy the moment Rainbow Dash bucks him in the face again.
Fluttershy: Ok thanks, all of you! I’ll see you later! Discord, you can take them back now.
*SNAP*
Fluttershy’s family disappears and are sent back to their home in Cloudsdale.
Fluttershy: Ok, now there’s only only one more invitee, Discord. I need you to get Tree Hugger here.
Discord: Heh, with her coming at least I get to say I was invited before her this time.
*SNAP*
Tree Hugger is brought to the cottage but it seems she was in deep meditation where she was, because she seems to have not noticed.
Fluttershy: Um, Tree Hugger?
Tree Hugger hears a familiar voice and breaks out of her meditation trance.
Tree Hugger: Whhoooooooaaaaaaa dude, did my meditation give me such enlightenment that I can travel the world now?
Fluttershy:  No it wasn’t your meditation, Tree Hugger. That was Discord that brought you here.
Tree Hugger: Oh hey, yeah I remember you. You… sent me to some weird sock puppet dimension…
Discord: No hard feelings?
Tree Hugger: Nah, I ain’t mad, dude. That’s not my style, though I at least hope all your bad vibes from your jealousy are gone.
Discord: Nah I’m good, besides. Fluttershy invited me first!
Tree Hugger: Ah, so you don’t have bad vibes of jealousy this time. But now you have some pouring from a big ego.
Discord deadpans and crosses his arms. Fluttershy giggles.
Fluttershy: Anyway, Tree Hugger would you like to come with me, Discord, and many of my other friends to Saddle Arabia for a Royal Ball?
Tree Hugger: Sure thing Flutterdude, I’ve heard Saddle Arabia has some nice meditation techniques that I can see firsthand.
Fluttershy: Great! I’ll see you there! Discord, go ahead and get her back home.
Tree Hugger ohms and goes back into meditation just before Discord sends her back
Fluttershy: Ok that takes care of every pony, I guess thank you, Discord. Even if this method was a little forceful…
Discord: Hey, if it moves the story about. So what do we do now.
Fluttershy: We just wait for the others to finish.
Discord: Wait, you’re saying that like we’re not even the main characters of this fiction?!
Fluttershy: Wat
Discord: Hold on, I need to call my agent back…
Fluttershy: …….
Confuzzling as always, Fluttershy and Discord now simply await word for when the ball starts

Michael Myers sparing your life after killing everyone around you prompt maybe? NSFW if you do not mind writing that, too. :) (Sorry for all the asks, but I fell in love w/ your blog.
Hi! You are too sweet to me! Thanks so much for all your amazing requests, I’ve had so much fun writing for them :) I know I’m not the first to do this sort of thing, but I wrote this in the context of Dead by Daylight because I’ve been watching my roommate play way too much. Hope that’s okay! Also, I definitely do not mind writing NSFW ;3c This is kind of a long one, so I’m going to crosspost it on AO3.
This wasn’t your first time in Haddonfield. Actually, as of late, the Entity had seemed particularly fond of setting you loose in the nightmarish neighborhood streets. You were now intimately familiar with the eerie glow of the street lamps and the flashing lights of the unoccupied and inoperable police cruiser. However, this time was not like the others. This time you had begun the trial with a strange crushing feeling in your chest, not unlike a cold vice wrapped around your heart. You had had this feeling described to you by other survivors, and it was never a good sign.
You found yourself in the unique position of obsession.
You supposed that you should have known this was coming. You had been eluding the Shape again and again, trial after trial for much longer than was probably reasonable. Everytime he was close to finally catching and killing you, you managed to escape. Hopping down the hatch, slipping through the gates just in time, dropping pallets on him when his reaching hand was mere inches from you. Last time, you had used a little trick Laurie had taught you, taking a shard of glass you had tucked away into your waistband and jabbing it into his shoulder, giving you just enough time to slip away. You were sure that for a killer as prolific as he was your continued escapes must have been infuriating.
You had admittedly begun to enjoy the repeated game of cat and mouse the two of you were playing. The rush of adrenaline you got when you saw that familiar mask staring back at you was exhilarating, and you secretly loved the way your heart pounded when you heard his heavy breathing behind you as he chased you through the streets. These were things you would never admit to another survivor. Hell, you had a hard enough time admitting it to yourself.
This time though, you didn’t feel that familiar rush as you realized where you were. You hadn’t seen him yet, but you knew who the killer was. As you crouched beside a generator, you felt more tense than you had going into a trial in a long time. You felt like you were on the edge of something. This time was most certainly different, and it wasn’t just because it was your first time as the obsession. There was some energy in the air, and it crackled through your mind and body.
You were barely halfway done with repairing the generator when you heard the first scream in the night air. It was not the scream of someone being put on the hook, it was a final dying shriek, a warning sent out into the night to let other prey know that a predator was here and they were looking to kill. The hair on the back of your neck stood on end and goosebumps covered your arms.
You continued to look over your shoulder every few seconds, looking for a flash of white or the glint of a blade. You felt relief wash over you as Claudette emerged from around the side of the house. You gave her a nod as she came closer and began to help with repairs.
“He killed Nea,” she whispered to you. “We didn’t even see him coming, he just pulled her off the generator and killed her.”
“I’m the obsession,” you admitted quietly.
She gave you a pitying look. If he was already being this brutal with his kills, you both wondered what was in store for you.
“Who else is left?” You asked. You felt bed, but you hoped it was Laurie. She was crafty and more than capable of escaping him, but more than that they had encountered each other before the Entity’s realm, and Michael always took the time to hunt her down. That might just give you and Claudette enough time to finish the generators and open the gates.
“I think it’s Jake,” she responded.
So much for that plan, you thought bitterly.
Just as the two of you were finishing up your repairs, you heard the tell-tale sound of another generator starting up a ways away. Jake must have finished the generator Nea and Claudette had been working on before. Not long after your generator clicked on, however, you heard that same horrible scream you had before. Frozen fear flooded through your veins and you shared a terrified look with Claudette.
Too soon, it was all too soon. The trial had barely just begun and already you were the final two survivors. You hadn’t even seen the Shape yet.
The two of you split off in different directions. There really was no safety in numbers here. You slipped into a house, conscious of the aged wooden floor beneath your feet and any sounds it may make. With your heart in your throat, you made your way up the stairs, hoping to find a generator in one of the rooms on the second story.
Much to your relief, you found one and got to work. You could only hope that Claudette was doing the same. That would mean that the two of you only had one more to complete before you could make your escape and forget all about the strange feeling you had had all trial. You tried to calm the trembling of your fingers as you pulled, pushed, and prodded to force parts back into place.
You heard the ding of another generator coming to life and felt a rush of relief. You finished your generator quickly enough, and headed to the window to see if you could find Claudette, or even Michael. At least if you could spot him you would know where not to go.
You had barely poked your head up over the windowsill before you spotted your fellow survivor. She was sneaking around the side of the house you were in towards the front. If she could just make it a little further, she would be behind the cover of the shrubbery in the front of the yard. Just a few more feet…
He materialized from the shadows as if he were made from the fog itself. With all the grace of a panther stalking its prey in the night, he fell upon her too fast for you to even warn her. You watched with an open mouth as the blade sailed through the air, reflecting the flashing red and blue lights as it went. Claudette shrieked when the weapon carved through her back, sending her sprawling across the grass.
You could do nothing but watch as Michael lifted her with a hand under her chin into the air. You spotted the blade once more only to watch it sink into your friend with a wet sound. He withdrew it from her slowly, torturously, only to drive it right back into her frantically struggling form. She made a sickening gurgling sound and then was silent. Everything was silent except for the frantic pounding of your own heart
You knew you should move. You needed to get out of the house and to the hatch that had surely appeared somewhere, but you could do nothing but stare down at the Shape as he threw your friend’s lifeless corpse to the ground. He loomed over the body, motionless in this mimicry of a suburban neighborhood.
And then he raised his head.
You could see nothing in the unfathomable blackness visible through the eye holes in the mask, but you knew that he was staring right back at you. You felt his freezing gaze stop you in place, and a thrill went through your paralyzed form. You knew then that things had never been more different than they were in this trial. Michael was done playing games with you.
You could have sworn that you only blinked and he was gone, freeing you from your temporary paralysis. You made a beeline for the stairs, almost sliding past them in your rush. You found yourself frozen once more as you stared down the steps. Michael was at the bottom, and he was staring right back up at you. You turned and bolted back towards the window, but he was faster than you. You dove forward to throw yourself through the open portal, but you weren’t even halfway through when you felt a large hand grab the back of your shirt.
Your back hit the ground hard, and before you could even think about scrambling to your feet a large boot was planted on your stomach, knocking the air from your lungs and effectively pinning you in place. You tried to squirm out from beneath, clawing at his ankle and pushing at his calf, but he may as well have been made of stone for how little he moved. You looked up to find the impassive mask that you had learned to fear staring back at you. His head was tilted slightly to one side as he watched you struggling.
Then, faster than a lightning strike, one of his massive hands was around your throat and you were hoisted into the air.
He finally had you. You kicked your legs wildly as you tried to pry at the iron grip he had around your throat. You knew your struggling was merely a futile last ditch effort in a war of attrition, but you couldn’t just go limp and wait for the cold steel of his knife to pierce your abdomen. But that never came.
It all happened so fast. One moment you were dangling about a foot off the ground with your vision slowly going dark due to air loss, and the next you were pinned to the wall by a hard body. You saw him raise the large butcher’s knife above his head and you were sure it was about to find its home in your chest, but when it came arcing down towards you you felt no pain and instead found it embedded a few inches deep into the wall next to your head. Your eyes widened as you looked up at the ever impassive mask, his normally heavy breathing seemed to be even heavier now, the sound reverberating behind the rubber face close to panting. He pressed against you harder and his hips ground into yours.
Oh. OH. Well, that was unexpected.
You were at a loss. You had known there was tension between yourself and the killer, but you hadn’t realized that it was this kind of tension. Yet here you were, pinned to a wall with him basically rutting against you, but as much as you wanted to you couldn’t find it in yourself to dislike the situation. In fact, your feelings on the matter were very much the opposite.
You gasped and gripped Michael’s forearms when one of his strong thighs pressed between your legs, forcing you up onto your tiptoes just to reach the ground. You resisted the urge to grind yourself against him. He leaned into you more, masked face pressing into the juncture between your neck and shoulder. You heard him inhale deeply, almost like he was taking in your scent, but you couldn’t imagine he could smell much more than latex from inside the white rubber. He seemed to realize the same thing.
His calloused hands found their way to your hips, lifting you off his thigh and stepping back slightly. For one heart stopping moment you thought that he had changed his mind and was going to kill you, but as soon as that thought crossed your mind, you found yourself flipped around with your face shoved up against the old, peeling wallpaper. He shoved his leg back between your thighs, and you couldn’t help the heated sound that escaped you as he pressed against you with a bit more pressure than before. One of his hands left your hips and found its home against the back of your neck, ensuring that you could not move or turn your head.
A rush of heat burned its way through your body. You couldn’t remember the last time you were this close to someone, let alone someone that could toss you around so easily. This was a terrible idea, possibly one of the worst you had ever had. You could smell the coppery scent of blood surrounding you, and you knew it had to belong to your friends, but his proximity had your head swimming and you just couldn’t bring yourself to care.
The hand that wasn’t pinning you in place began to wander, pushing up your shirt to explore the heated skin of your stomach and ribs, continuing northward to force its way between your chest and the wall. He cupped your clothed breast in his rough hand, and you choked on the moan that bubbled up in your throat. He took note of this, and if you didn’t know better you would have sworn you heard a low sound of approval come from him.
His hand slithered back down your abdomen to press firmly between your hips and drag you backwards so that your ass was directly against the burning, hardened length of him. You felt a spike of anxiety shoot through you. From what you could feel against your backside, he was big. It made sense, you supposed, the rest of him was huge so it makes sense that his dick would be the same. Though your mind cried out about logistics and potential pain, your traitorous body was abuzz with excitement and your cunt was near dripping at the thought of Michael inside you.
You wiggled your hips back against him. He responded by tightening his hold on the nape of your neck and growling in your ear, the feral sound vibrating in his chest and through your body. You let loose a litany of wanton, needy sounds. You were completely overwhelmed by the heat coursing through you. You needed him, and you needed him now.
“Please,” you begged, hoping he understood what you were asking.
You could have cried with relief when his hand slipped around the front of your body and his nimble fingers found the clasp of your jeans. You were more than happy to help him drag the fabric barrier along with your panties down your hips and over your ass so that you could shimmy them down your legs and finally kick the offending material away. You expected him to immediately free himself from his bloodsoaked coveralls and push inside you.
You were pleasantly and genuinely surprised when you felt his fingers swipe along your slickness. When he came to your entrance, he shoved a finger inside forcing you to bite down on the inside of your cheek to quiet a gasp. A second finger joined the first and you thrashed against his hold. It was too much. You were so full with only his fingers inside you. His hold on you never wavered, and the curling of his fingers had you panting. When the heel of his hand dragged against your clit you sucked in a breath and shuddered against him.
As the minutes ticked by and his attentions to your weeping pussy continued, that oh so familiar tightness built in your core and sparks of pleasure shot through your limbs. You were so unbearably close. You babbled out pleas for him to let you have your release, crying his name and trying desperately to force his fingers deeper and his palm harder against you. You thought he would take mercy on you and finish you off, but just as you began to tip over that precipice into bliss, he withdrew.
You whined at the loss as the pleasure ebbed, but the sound of a zipper being undone and fabric rustling filled you with renewed heat. You wanted to see him, but the vice grip on your neck dashed any hope of that happening. All disappointment was chased from your scattered thoughts when you felt the blunt head of him at your soaking entrance.
Once he had lined himself up, his fingers grasped your hip with a strength that would surely leave bruises. He pulled you down hard onto him, and you keened. You had been more right than you realized about his size. If you thought you were full with just his fingers inside you, you were sure now that you would burst at the seams any second.
His forehead found your shoulder, and you could feel the harsh puff of his heavy breaths escaping through the thin mouth of the mask. He drew back out of you with a brutally slow pace, the head of his cock dragging over your overwrought walls and drawing a moan from your lips. He slammed back in without warning and the air was forced from your lungs. With that he was off, setting a punishing pace and preventing you from ever really catching your breath.
Every thrust forced your face harder against the wall, and you knew your cheek would be bruised by the end of this encounter. As he drilled you into the hard surface, you began to feel that same warmth coiling inside you, only this time it was approaching much more rapidly. You gasped and moaned, his name peppered into the pleased noises you were making. Before the anticipation and impatience could drive you crazy, you peeled one of your hands away from the wallpaper and let you fingers find your clit, rubbing quick circles around the bundle of nerves.
You knew Michael was getting close based on the way his fingertips dug further into the flesh of your hip and his breathing hitched. He grunted, a sound deep in his throat that was impossibly loud. Then his hand at your neck disappeared, followed by the sound of something hitting the floor behind you with a slap. Before you could be surprised or even move, his now unmasked head was pressed into the back of yours. He inhaled deeply, nose buried in your now sweat slicked hair. His lips dragged across your nape, lingering at the neckline of your shirt.
You wanted to see him, needed to see the face of the man that was fucking you like you had never experienced. You tried to push away from the wall, to turn your head. You weren’t sure if you would find that he was just as monstrous without the mask as when he had it on, or if he would look like a normal man, but you didn’t care. The curiosity was killing you.
Michael realized immediately what you were doing, and before you could catch so much as a glimpse of his features, he bit down on the back of your neck. Hard.
The feeling of his teeth on your neck, pinning you back in place more effectively than even his hand had, had you seeing stars. You yelped at the feeling, and then you clamped your eyes shut as the coil in your core burst and your orgasm ripped through you. Fireworks exploded behind your eyes and you couldn’t help but to sing his praises.
Feeling you clench around his cock seemed to renew the chase for his own release. He now had the added advantage of use of his other hand. He snaked that arm around your waist to pull your lower half even closer to his pistoning hips. His pace was even more brutal than before, and your cum soaked pussy made obscene, wet sounds that drowned out your combined heavy breathing.
You were sure his teeth broke skin when he bit down even harder. His thrusts stuttered and slowed. He growled against you and you felt warmth spilling inside you. His release was forced from your lower lips as he continued to thrust through his orgasm, trickling down your trembling thighs.
For a moment you were shocked. Not moving even as he pulled out and stepped away from you. You took a moment to slow your breathing and ignore the odd feeling of the rapidly cooling mix of your fluids and his that spilled from your entrance.
You were pulled from your thoughts by the sound of rustling fabric. Finally, you were allowed to peel yourself away from the papered wall and turn to face him. You supposed that you shouldn’t have been surprised to find him completely put together, coveralls zipped and mask back in place, looking at you like he hadn’t just fucked the life out of you.
Your legs shook as you bent to recover your jeans and underwear, never taking your eyes off of him. You dared a glance at the knife embedded in the wall beside you. It was deep enough that you doubted you would be able to pull it out if he closed in on you. You weren’t sure what would happen next. He had had his fun and now the two of you were locked in a staring match in the middle of the hall, only you found yourself at a disadvantage since you couldn’t see his eyes.
Once you were fully clothed, you wrapped your arms around yourself. You didn’t want to make any sudden movements, but he was still blocking both the stairs and the window. You doubted that you would be able to sprint past him before he could grab you and kill you the way he had killed the others, and you weren’t too keen on a knife to the stomach.
Finally, he huffed quietly and stepped to the side, revealing the stairs to you. You looked at him with no small amount of surprised hesitancy. Was Michael really going to let you leave?
When you didn’t move, he tilted his head and gestured towards the stairs. His meaning was clear. Leave.
Afraid he would change his mind, you darted forward and bound down the steps on unsteady legs. You were still shaking and could already feel the soreness setting in. Your feet creaked over the porch and crunched across the dry grass. You spotted the hatch in the middle of the street.
As you approached it, you looked back at the house you had come from. Michael stood in the window through which you had watched him kill Claudette, as unmoving as a statue. You held his gaze for a moment. He had spared you this time. You somehow doubted it would be the same next time.
You jumped into the blackness of the yawning hatch.

School has started! I can’t throw away my shot!
Hi Hi all my lovely amazing people who follow me! It has been... quite a while since I have given you a proper update on the blog. Sorry about that, I’ll try to do better moving forward. On that note though I wanted to take the time to do one now and really prepare you all of what’s coming up next for this blog. So please enjoy the read and I’ll see you at the end!
- WARNING MAJOR BLOG NEWS BELOW -
Tumblr media
Mun Yu Updates
Well... where do I begin. Last you knew I was teaching and almost ready to move in my old place. Good gosh.
So, I have moved from the last place. I now live close to the edge of the state. My job ended in June for now so I now work for a hospital in town. Nothing major just an as needed position.
But Yu, don’t you have bills. Why yes, yes I do! However, I took on less work so that I could go back to school and my fiance took over most the finance. He has been so supportive of my desire to go back to school, that’s the main reason we moved so far away. We both now work at the same hospital and I go to school.
It’s all really great right now and we even have a two year plan in the works to move back towards home once my degree is finished. I am majoring in Early Childhood Education of course! My true passion is teaching little minds.
Other than that I have started playing DND, like a lot. I will add my character to my Other OCs Art Post so you can see them. And really other than that, that is it for me. There were not many changes but some big little ones.
☆+ ゚ .+ .゚.゚。 ゚ 。. +゚ 。゚.゚。☆*。。 . 。 o .。゚。.o。* 。 .。
Blogs Now - What is Happening?
As some of you may have seen, there are two new blog additions to my growing obsession; @thegodtrappedinhell and verbotene-kleine-stunden . Both blogs feature their own addition to the story featuring a different OC with a different boy from the main story of Kanuki.
Now... don’t get mad. I am going to delete their blogs. It’s way too much work to keep up with 3 (3+ once i add in Aelle) blogs and honestly I don’t have the energy for it. So instead, I am going to be moving everyone onto this main blog.
I know what you’re thinking; “But this is Kanuki’s blog! What about my ship that has been here for years! I don’t know these new OCs I want Kanuki content!” Don’t worry! Yuuki and her story isn’t going anywhere. You can still interact with her, send her ask and keep up with her updates right here.
The only difference is you can also talk with Yuki, Belle and any other OCs I bring out of the wood work (more on that after this). I just really cannot handle so many different blogs, when it is much easier to just have them all here. I will be adding in a new FAQ section of the blog to help answer some questions that may pop-up in regards to this merger.
With all that being said, I’ll be closing down ask and submissions on all the blogs and be locking this one up for the time being. I need to do some MAJOR reconstructing and merging to get everything nice and organized.
As stated above I am in school, so this process is going to be a long one. We probably wont see it finished to January if I am being honest. I have so much to re-organized and change coding wise that it’s best to just lock everything up for the time being.
That being said, I will still make post every now and again to keep up with you all and any story content that I can come up with along the way. So it’s not like I’m vanishing, just closed for some renovations. I hope that you call can support this idea and are excited to see all of my OCs stories come to life.
☆+ ゚ .+ .゚.゚。 ゚ 。. +゚ 。゚.゚。☆*。。 . 。 o .。゚。.o。* 。 .。
Blog Future - What Comes Next?
Possible Name Change ~ With the merge I may change the name of this blog. I kind of love the name now, but it is kind of really Yuuki inspired. Don’t worry, I will post about it if I actually do change the name.
New Sprites ~ I am so excited to announce the partnership with the amazing @lavendel080 to bring all of my new sprites to life! There are... about to be so many OCs on this blog and tbh most of them need sprites (like everyone but Yuuki - present). Thank you so much for taking me on as a client and I love working with you so much~!
OCs.. OCs as far as the eye can see ~ Yes... there are about to be so many OCs on this blog I can’t even. Here is a helpful list for you!
Yuuki w/ Kanato
Kanaye
Yukio
Rini
Yuki w/ Laito
Erlabelle (Belle) w/ Reiji
7 kids - not made yet
Aelle w/ Yuma
Skye - currently not shipped
Akumu - not originally my OC but was given permission to use w/ Shu & Subaru
As you cane see, all of them but Yuuki and Akumu will need sprites done... so... there is a lot going on behind the scene for all of that.
Yukio in Wonderland ~ This is still very much a thing! I have picked out the artist I would like to draw the pictures for this event. It is going to feature a many number of OCs from many friends of mine. I wont say who all yet - though you can probably guess, but I will give you a list of all the characters I have matched so far.
Alice
White Rabbit
Cheshire Cat
the Tweedles
Red Queen
White Queen
Mouse
Caterpillar
Stayne
Mad Hatter
Hare
Door Man (door knob)
Court members
So... yeah it’s really planned out! I have all those characters cast and now I’ll just need to like work with the artist to design them. It will be released like a children’s book. So with each art is like a page work of story to go with it. Please look forward to it!
☆+ ゚ .+ .゚.゚。 ゚ 。. +゚ 。゚.゚。☆*。。 . 。 o .。゚。.o。* 。 .。
I believe... that is everything. If it’s not I’ll re-blog this with any add on information. Thank you all so much for being a part of my life for the past 3 years. That is insane to me. You all are amazing and I hope to keep you entertained. Till next time~!
Tumblr media
I wish there was some secret I could show you for sticking around this long... OH WAIT THERE IS!
For making it to the end. say hello to the first look at Skye, the newest resident in this hell.

Game 317: Sorcerer’s Bane (1992)
Unfortunately, the game has no title screen. This is as close as we get.
            Sorcerer’s Bane
United States
Wood Software Development (developer and publisher)
Released in 1992 for DOS
Date Started: 27 January 2019
One of the things for which I am most grateful about this blog is that it introduced me to the roguelike sub-genre. The introduction was quite quick, as Rogue was the second game that I played. I had never encountered anything like it–had never encountered permadeath at all, really. The idea that you could invest dozens of hours into a character, and then he could be gone, just like that, with one wrong roll of the dice, is a hard concept to grasp when you’ve grown up playing RPGs that allow liberal saving and reloading. Even recently, when I was playing The Game of Dungeons, I had moments where my mind refused to believe that a character in which I’d heavily invested–hale and powerful only moments ago–was somehow suddenly irretrievable.
Because Rogue itself, with its permadeath and dungeon randomization, is so inherently replayable, games in the sub-genre really have to distinguish themselves with new content to be memorable. Otherwise, all you’ve made is a clone of Rogue. Thus, we find a lot more variance in roguelikes–more than I thought was possible before I experienced them–than we do in many other sub-genres. NetHack, UnReal World, Moria, and Wizard’s Lair I may look somewhat the same, but they took vastly different approaches in mechanics and content, making them all fun to play in their own way.
Along those lines, Sorcerer’s Bane is an admirable effort from Indianapolis-based developer Chuck Wood. (Wow, is that a difficult name to Google. I’m sure there’s at least one “Peter Piper” out there with the same problem.) If I’ve found the right man, he would have been 18 when the game was released as shareware. (He asked $19.95 for it, or $99.95 for a version with the source code.) While it has a youth’s sense of humor in some of the text, the game is competently-programmed and highly-original. Wood clearly played Rogue (and perhaps NetHack) and was familiar with Dungeons and Dragons conventions, but he wasn’t overly restricted by them.
Until you register, you have to see this message every time you quit. I’d happily pay the shareware fee, but I can’t track Chuck down.
          The backstory concerns two sorcerers named Lodi and Sabee who together founded a magicians’ academy called Mogadore. Each of the wizards wielded a Staff of Power. For some reason, Lodi turned evil and killed Sabee, hoping to use his Staff of Power in conjunction with his own to achieve near-omnipotence. For some reason, Lodi was unable to use the staff, so he broke it into four pieces and hid them in various parts of Mogadore, guarded by four dragons. Lodi them sequestered himself in the lowest levels of the (now-) dungeon to plot further mischief. The player’s mission is to reunite the four pieces of the staff, figure out how it works, and destroy Lodi.
Character creation has the player roll for strength, intelligence, constitution, dexterity, charisma, and luck on an 8-18 scale. He then chooses from human, elf, troll, dwarf, and gnome races, which further modify the attributes. Classes are fighter, magic user, and bard, and each has unique talents that (unlike the typical roguelike) can’t be acquired by the other classes. In other words, no one but a magic user will ever cast spells, and no one but a bard will ever sing bard songs. I went with a gnome bard which is a little unusual for me.
Creating a character.
          The game begins in a menu town with a single shop and a cleric. You don’t have much gold to start, but you can return to the menu level whenever you want. The shop buys and sells weapons and armor, identifies equipment, and recharges wands. The cleric heals, cures sickness, and removes cursed items.
The store has the standard selection of equipment.
         Below the menu town, each dungeon level is 12 x 76 squares, with features randomly generated. The levels don’t have twisting corridors of most roguelikes. Instead, most of the space is open, but with occasional buildings or “rooms.” The character is represented by a yen symbol (¥). As you move, you reveal the squares around you, which might contain traps, treasure, or special encounters. Combats appear randomly as you walk, in a separate interface, and monsters are not seen in the environment.
Exploring one of the dungeon levels, I have a special encounter with a throne.
              My initial reactions to the game were negative, primarily because it has far fewer options than most roguelikes and thus seemed “dumbed down.” In the exploration window, there are no regular commands beyond movement and inventory. There’s no food system and no complex interaction between items, and no object permanence–when you drop things, they disappear entirely.
A fairly small set of commands for a roguelike.
          Soon, however, the game’s strengths and innovations started to come through. Among them:
           It has an excellent interface–one of the best I’ve ever seen in any game. It supports both the mouse and keyboard, and also multiple ways to use the keyboard. For instance, you can arrow among the commands and hit ENTER or type the letter of the command. It anticipates multiple ways that different users might want to accomplish things. For instance, in the inventory screen, you can choose to (W)ield, (D)rop, or (I)dentify items (among other commands), or you can select the item first and then see a sub-menu of the different things you can do with it. It offers a few shortcuts; in combat, (K)ill causes the entire combat to play out as if you hit (F)ight every round.
            I could have done all these things from the previous inventory screen, or here in a way that’s specific to the elven cloak. And I can either press the appropriate key, arrow to my selection and hit ENTER, or use the mouse.
        The “help” system is also excellent. Almost every screen has a (H)elp command that provides contextual assistance with your current situation.
             Hitting “Help” on the class selection screen brings up a description of each class.
          You get experience just for walking. Every step grants you one point. This makes it possible to play a “stealth” version of the game, at least at low levels.
In combat, you can attempt to avoid battle by simply talking to the enemy. Results depend on charisma, but it works a lot of the time with animals and neutral creatures. There are even “good” creatures like dryads who have additional encounter options if you talk with them.
              What kind of monster wants to kill a dog?
          After you’ve faced an enemy a few times, you can bring up a “Monster Info” screen the next time you encounter him. It tells you the monster’s statistics (with your own in comparison) and gives you a brief description.
                The game shows what I know about hobgoblins.
         I like the identification system. Items can be cursed or enchanted, and if you want to take a chance, wielding or wearing the item immediately tells you everything about it. You can pay to identify items in the shop, and you can find Rings of Identify that (usually) identify things automatically.
          Yo, dawg . . .
          Items have fun effects (both advantageous and disadvantageous) that I’ve not seen in many other games. A “Book of Intense Wealth” gives you thousands of experience points or gold pieces. The cursed “Forward-Only Motion Boots” don’t let you use any up ladders. I’m not exactly sure what the “Attacking Floating Sword” does, but it’s apparently a good thing. Items otherwise offer the types of resistances and advantages that you’re used to in roguelikes, and of course you can keep multiple items to swap in and out of active inventory as the situation demands (e.g., putting on Ring of Disease Resistance when you meet a zombie).
There are interesting special encounters. Dryads give you hints. Gamblers offer you a chance to wager on a card game (and some of them carry Decks of Many Things). Thrones can convey a variety of benefits or demerits. Fountains usually heal (fully) but sometimes improve or reduce attributes instead. (Fountains and thrones, of course, are staples from earlier roguelikes.)
            A dryad offers some equipment advice.
        There’s a complex “wish” system. Various items and creatures can grant you wishes, which accumulate in an associated statistic. When you want to use a wish, you just hit “W” and a menu comes up offering various options, including raising an attribute, gaining a magic item, healing, extra experience, gold, and “a pet grizzly bear and a dreamwolf to fight with.” I haven’t tried that last option yet.
           Some of the wish options. I only have one, so I guess I’d better save it.
         Monsters include the standard set of roguelike/fantasy creatures. On the first few levels, you might run into jackals, goblins, kobolds, hobgoblins, floating eyes, skeletons, and giant rats. Later, you get more advanced creatures with special attacks and defenses. Were-creatures can only be hit by magic weapons and can cause lycanthropy, for instance. Amorphous acids can corrode items. Mad dogs and zombies can cause disease. Thieves can steal your money pouch and disappear. After Level 10, there are spellcasting enemies like satyrs, gorgons, and wizards. I’ve found it best to run away from a lot of these creature types, especially the animal ones that never offer any gold or items after you kill them.
Fighting a mad dog is a bad idea. They can disease you and offer nothing once you kill them.
         In combat, you have options to attack, talk, run, cast a spell (for magic-users), sing a song (for bards), make a wish, and use an inventory item. A lack of missile weapons and a low variety of items makes combat a bit less tactical than some roguelikes, but it’s not bad and at least it’s over fast.
Health does not regenerate on its own, but in consideration for that, and for permadeath, combat is relatively easy, at least for the first 8 levels or so. A lot of battles end with no hit point loss for the character at all. Running away works most of the time. Every few levels, you find a fountain that usually heals you, and both magic users and clerics have magical healing options. You also occasionally run into wandering clerics. And if you die, the game runs through a humorous scene in which the gods might resurrect you, but at a cost of all your gold (if you don’t have much, your chances of resurrection seem to be lower) or some inventory items.
             A silly scene that accompanies death.
           I have no idea how many levels the game offers, but I played this first session to dungeon Level 10. My character rose to Level 6 during the process, which each level increasing maximum hit points and improving a few behind-the-scenes statistics (which you can call up) like “magic resistance,” “to hit,” and “alertness.” Many of my attributes improved from potions, books, and fountains. On Levels 9 and 10, the game started to get a bit harder, with tougher enemies like gorgons and wizards, and matters weren’t helped by the fact that an unlucky use of the gambler’s Deck of Many Things caused me to lose my entire inventory.
He did warn me.
            I’ve gained two bard songs during the course of the game. “Hypocrita” is a healing song and “Bazerker” is a combat song. Neither seemed to have any effect when I had a regular flute, but once i found a magic “Flying Flute,” they both started paying off. In particular, “Hypocrita” heals 6 hit points per move, which means that combats have become about individual difficulty rather than collective difficulty.
My inventory before the unfortunate event above.
        I expected to find shortcuts to the surface the farther down I explored, but it hasn’t happened yet. That means if I want to go back to the shop, I have to climb up 10 dungeon levels. I guess after a certain point, you have to rely on your own resources for item identification and wandering clerics for healing that you can’t accomplish yourself. Since I lost all my stuff, though, I guess I’m going to try to make it back to the surface to buy a new set of equipment, then perhaps grind a bit on lower levels until I find a few magic items again (magic items are most common in treasure chests, but monsters occasionally drop them). If I lose this character entirely, I’ll probably restart as a magic-user so I can experience that side of the game, but I’ll likely backup my character every couple of levels.
Sorcerer’s Bane will end on a high note if it doesn’t last much more than another four or five hours. Character development caps at Level 15, which suggests I’m about 40% of the way through, although it concerns me that I haven’t found any of the dragons yet. Maybe they’re all grouped together on one lower level. For now, the game hasn’t made any major mistakes, and I’m impressed that the young developer showed so much innovation and sense of balance.
Time so far: 4 hours

I love your blog! Can I have a request if you don't mind? Can you have MC leave town for a few days to visit her family so she left her spouse(RFA+V+Saraen+Vanderwood) in charge on watching their child(ren)? Let's just say hell breaks loose and stuff goes down, but in the end it turned out okay. You can use "hell breaks loose" however you want! Btw... I love you ^^
I love you too, hun!
I ended up only doing the RFA because this was getting suuuuper long and other things started piling up on me. If people really like this and want me to do the minor trio as well, feel free to request it and I will get to it. :)
RFA troubles when left alone w/ their child while MC is away for a few days
~~~
★ Yoosung ★
“Bye, MC! See you in a couple days!” Yoosung kissed you goodbye, his lips lingering against yours before pulling back only so he could kiss your cheek.
“Bye, mommy!” Your 4 year old son chirped from below, his little arms reaching up for you. Happily, you lifted him up and pulled him into a tight embrace, kissing the side of his head before handing him over to Yoosung.
You gathered your things and turned the two you loved most in this world and waved goodbye, promising to bring them both back some souvenirs.
Yoosung smiled at your son who had a toothy little grin whilst looking at the cookie jar on the counter. Yoosung shook his head before setting him down and watching him run to it.
“You can have one, but only one, donut,” Yoosung said handing him a chocolate chip cookie, which the little boy ate greedily. “Daddy has to take a shower real quick but then we can do whatever you want! We’re gonna have fun this weekend, right?”
“Yeah!”
Yoosungs lips curled into a large smile once again. “Good! I’ll put some cartoons on for you, so just sit tight.”
While Yoosung was taking his shower, the little boy sat on the couch but after five minutes he got bored of what was showing on the television.
He wanted to play with his toys so he pushed himself off the couch and went to his room to get his toys. But a colourful array of figures suddenly caught his eye.
A small gasp came from the small boy as he saw the collection of LOLOL action figures through the doorway of yours and Yoosung’s room.
He remembers times seeing them before when running to you guys after a nightmare, but he never got to see them up close before!
These LOLOL figures are the only thing that Yoosung has organized to be honest, and he takes pride in that. As he’s told you numerous times when you go to dust the shelf, “No! They’re in the wrong order! They need to be organized by guild, here let me do it.”
The little boy rushed into the room and immediately grabbed for them.
No restraint.
Curved his arm and pushed them all onto the floor, following the toys to the ground and immediately beginning to play with them.
However, your son messes up the figures more than you ever have. He’s tearing off the heads and arms and mixing them up.
He puts a few in his mouth and leaves quite a few nasty teeth marks on the bodies.
“Donut? Where are you?” Yoosung calls now done with his shower.
“Honey, where are-” He stops mid-sentence, his jaw dropping to the floor as he walks into his room to see his son sticking two LOLOL monsters up his nose while smiling at his father.
“Daddy, look!”
Yoosung is frozen in place for a few moments, a look of horror on his face as he stares at his precious figures a mess on the ground.
Finally, he lets out a child like squeal before running towards his son, pulling the figures out of his small hands and nose.
“No! These aren’t to play with- Guild leader johnnnn, nooo!”
When you come home after what was a long weekend of Yoosung trying not to break down over the loss of his figures, you see your son sitting grinning on his lap while the two watch the Lego Movie.
After your son gives you a hug then runs to his room, you plop down on the couch next to Yoosung and cuddle up to his side. You look up and see the frown displayed on his face.
“Honey, what’s wrong?”
That’s when the tears come.
Smol boy is a mess on your lap, bawling his eyes out.
“They’re gone, MC! Every single one of them! They’ve all gone to heaven! Half of them drowned in snot!”
“What’s gone?”
“My LOLOL figures!!!”
♪ Zen ♪
Zen never liked when you left for long periods of time, but he understands you wanting to spend time with your family.
He decided to look at the bright side of things. For one, he was finally going to be having quality time with his daughter!
A whole weekend just for the two of them,
And he was totally gonna spoil his princess.
“Remember, her bedtime is at 7 o’clock. She is not aloud to watch tv past 6 o’clock. Her favorite book to read before bed is Goodnight Moon, and you have to leave a glass of milk on the bedside table-”
Zen shut you up with a loving kiss that was broken by the fact he was smiling so much. He stroked your cheek, chuckling before saying, “Don’t worry, Jagiya, I know what to do. You go have fun with your family. We’ll be right here in one piece when you get back!”
The moment you left through the door, Zen lifted his giggling daughter over his head, spinning her around. “Ready to have some fun!?”
He loved his daughter’s laugh. It was so high pitched and sweet, always filled with joy. He asked her what she wanted to do first.
One of her most favorite things in the world was listening to her father practice his lines for his upcoming show because he always made funny voices and extravagant motions.
Zen sat the little girl on the couch, gave her a bowl of ice cream - now that you’re not here, your not able to stop him from giving her too much sugar - and began to present his script.
Everything was fun and going nicely until Zen stopped at the sudden buzzing against his leg.
He frowned, looking down at the screen reading his director was calling.
He put the script down and told the girl who would be back in a little bit.
For about ten minutes, she waited in the other room with her legs swaying back and forth as she listened to the muffled sound of her dads phone call.
She looked at the script left on the table, a small smile appearing on her face as she rushed to get her coloured pencils.
I’m going to make it pretty for daddy!
She dumped all the pencils onto the ground, picking up batches at a time, scribbling all over the skript to the point nothing could be read.
These were not proper drawers but absolute scribbles, a failed attempt at a rainbow.
Zen finally finished his call and was walking back to his daughter, but he gasped when he saw her starting to tare at the script.
“NO! Honey, what are you doing?”
“I’m making it pretty!”
He flipped through the pages and the script was completely destroyed and unreadable. He sighed, putting it down and looking at his smiling daughter. He put a fake smile on his face, lifting her up and declaring they were going to go for a walk.
“What about finishing the show, daddy?”
“I’m afraid I can’t do that now, honey.”
❀ Jaehee ❀
The little girl you and Jaehee adopted shortly after you two got married was incredibly jealous that you were getting to fly on an airplane to see your family back in your hometown.
Ever Since she was two, the little girl was fascinated by airplanes!
The best gift she ever got, thanks to Mr. Han even with his resentment of Jaehee quitting, was a trip in his private jet.
Jaehee was really sad to be honest when you told her that you were going to be staying with your family for a bit. Mainly because she was going to miss you. But she was looking forward to the quality time she was sure to spend with her daughter.
The little girl gave you a hug before practically climbing up Jaehee who had to find a way to situate the girl on her hip while she hugged and kissed you goodbye.
“I’ll see you both in a few days! Be good you two!~”
“Bye, mommy!”
When you left, Jaehee looked down at the little girl with a small smile on her face. To be honest, Jaehee was a little nervous to be taking care of her all by herself while you were away, but even so, she was more excited than nervous.
Just as she was about to say something, her phone starting to ring in her pocket. She rolled her eyes a bit when she saw it was one of the waiters at the cafe. “Ah, just give me a minute, mouse,” She says going to the bedroom and closing the door.
The girl shrugged, lifting up her toy airplane and pursing her lips so she can make a vroom sound as she runs around the room, lifting the plane up and down in the air.
All was going well, however, until she accidently knocked Jaehee’s cup of coffee all over her computer.
She quickly put the plane down and rushed to clean up the mess, but only being four, she grabbed what was closest to clean up the mess,
Which was Jaehee’s paperwork.
The flimsy paper did nothing but make more of a mess, pushing the liquid down onto the floor.
Panicking a little bit, she tried to hide the mess by taking some of Jaehee’s books and putting them over the puddles of coffee.
But oh god, she forgot all about the computer which was completely dead now.
The girl thought if she got rid of the computer, Jaehee wouldn’t notice anything was wrong. So she tried to pry the computer off the desk, which only resulted in pulling the whole entire desk to the ground.
At the loud bang of the desk crashing, Jaehee dropped her phone and bolted to the main room in which you were in, and let out a loud scream at the mess everywhere.
At her scream, the little girl started to cry afraid that Jaehee was going to be mad at her.
I mean, Jaehee was not happy whatsoever but she couldn’t be mad at her daughter, especially when she was crying.
When you came home, you were surprised to find the main room looking empty now that the computer and desk was gone.
When you asked Jaehee about it, she just shook her head and said that you guys needed a new computer and desk.
☂ Jumin ☂
Jumin kissed your temple, his hands lingering just above your waist. “Driver Kim will you have you at your parents house in less than three hours, and he will be there to pick you up when you’re vacation is over on the dot.”
You let out a small chuckle, pulling your husband in for a proper hug. “Don’t worry, it’s just my parents. Nothing is going to happen. No need to be so protective. Just enjoy the time you have with our son.”
Jumin nodded, looking down at the little boy who clung to your leg with a few tears in his eyes.
You frowned, kneeling down to kiss the boys head. “Don’t worry, honey, mommy will be home in a few days. You and daddy are going to have a lot of fun together.”
The little boy nodded, moving to cling onto Jumin, who grinned at the affection your son gave him.
It always made him happy when the little boy clung to him.
“I love you both, I’ll see you in a few days!” You said gathering your things, helping Driver Kim to put them in the car.
You waved goodbye through the window, and soon, the car was off in the distant and Jumin was left alone with his son.
He picked the boy up, bringing him back up to the penthouse and putting him down on the couch, turning the tv on for him.
“I have quite a bit of work to do, but I promise you when it’s done we can spend some time together. Just watch some TV for now and do some colouring.”
So much for enjoying the time you have with your son.
Markers, coloured pencils, scissors, coloured paper and glue was put in front of him and the TV was turned on to his favorite channel.
The little boy watched Jumin disappear down the hallway before entering his office and closing the door to work.
The boy began working on his arts and crafts, not really paying attention to the TV.
He stopped working though when he heard a small mewl and looked down to see Elizabeth the 3rd looking up at him.
“Kitty!” The boy claimed, sharing his father’s love for cats, and grabbed poor Elizabeth the 3rd who struggled a bit onto his lap.
His pets were kinda rough, but it was harmless! He loves Elizabeth as much as Jumin does.
The boys eyes lit up when he remembered a time that Jumin mentioned over dinner how much he wanted a scarf made of Elizabeth’s fur. The boy thought if he could glue together a scarf of Elizabeth’s hair, than maybe daddy would stop working and come play with him!
Grabbing the pair of scissors from the table, he started to cut Elizabeth’s hair, right down to the skin. Of course, he didn’t hurt Elizabeth though.
And at this point Elizabeth had basically given up on struggling and just accepted her fate, letting the little boy cut her hair.
When the boy was done, Elizabeth had some fairly noticeable bald spots.
The boy tried to glue together the hair in the shape of a scarf, but of course, it wouldn’t work, and the innocent boy began to cry as he found his project was a failure.
Hearing his son crying, Jumin immediately stopped his work and rushed to his son, but he stopped dead in his track as he saw all the fur scattered everywhere.
He then looked towards Elizabeth’s bed and let out a howl at the sight of all the bald spots and her fur cut off.
“S-son, what did you do?” he asked looking down at the crying boy.
“I wanted to make the scarf you wanted,” he said rather defeatedly.
Jumin sighed, calling the maid to come clean up the mess. He lifted his son up and decided work could be done later. He needed to spend time with his son now.
And then he would have to think of some way to make it up to Elizabeth for enduring the manhandling she surely would have faced.
☺ Seven/Saeyoung ☺
“I’m going to miss you so, so, so, so much!” Seven squealed swinging your laughing form around in his arms, the little girl that mirrored him laughing as well at her father’s silliness.
You grinned, bending down to kiss the top of her little head, her red hairs tickling your nose slightly.
“You’ll come home soon, right mommy?” The girl peeped.
“Of course,” you grinned. “You have fun with Daddy now. I’ll see you guys in a few days.”
The last thing you heard walking out the door was a squeal of joy as Seven lifted the little girl over his head and spun her around before running into the bunker.
He set the little girl down on the couch next to Saeran who was trying to watch tv.
“Now, little hacker, daddy has to do some work for a couple hours or Ms. Vanderwood - “Oui!” - will get mad at me. Can you be a good girl and sit here with your uncle and watch TV?” Seven asked with a cheeky grin and a higher pitched voice that had a little bounce to it.
The girl nodded, cuddling next to an uncomfortable Saeran. Seven gave her a nodd and a thumbs up before skipping off.
The little one did as her father asked for about an hour until she got really bored and Saeran had dozed off at this point.
She untangled herself from a blanket, careful not to wake her uncle, and went to the kitchen to get a snack.
She could hear the vacuum coming from the ‘headquarters’, which is what Seven calls his work room, so she knew that Vanderwood would not be there to stop her from getting any food.
Carefully, she climbed up on the counter and started rummaging through the shelves.
All that was in there were honey buddha chips.
Not really meaning to, she kinda… brushed them out of the shelves, and not expecting them to be open for god sakes, Saeyoung chips started flying every way and scattering all over the floor.
Panicking a little she jumped off the counter, landing on chips and ran to get Vanderwood for help. She didn’t want her father to see the mess she made.
However, Vanderwood had a bit of a mental break down when he saw the mess, and that ending up getting Seven and Saeran’s attention.
Seven wasn’t mad, he found the whole thing hilarious, and enjoyed taking pictures of the distraught Vanderwood in a pile of potato chips.
He became upset when he was tased though.
ALRIGHT I have apparently a lot of things I’ve been tagged in (recently or otherwise) so we are gonna do one big post of those things under the cut here to save your dash (sorry if you’re mobile and the app isn’t doing a read more D:) - stating it now I’m not gonna tag anybody bc I took so long to get around to it oops
10 favorite characters from 10 different fandoms things -Ami Mizuno (Sailor Moon) -Elizabeth Corday (ER) -River Song (DW) -Delilah (Firewatch) -Velma Dinkley (Scooby Doo) -Molly Grue (The Last Unicorn) -Lady Macbeth (Shakespeare) -Yang Xiao Long (RWBY) -Dana Scully (The X-Files) -Tuppence Beresford (Agatha Christie)
Writing Tag 1. How many works in progress do you currently have in progress? “Just” three - Princess and the Goblin AU, a personal project, and an original work about the world’s grumpiest immortal old lady 2. Do you/would you write fanfiction? Yes and yes :P 3. Do you prefer paper books or ebooks? Paper books to own, but for schoolwork I’d much rather use ebooks as they’re a lot easier to search through when writing a paper and needing that one quote. 4. When did you start writing? Age six! We still have the word document from 2003 where I wrote an epic tale about myself helping the Boxcar Children solve a mystery in which my mom was, for some reason, a police officer. 5. Do you have someone you trust that you share your work with? Knight! 6. Where is your favorite place to write? At home, sitting on my bed. That’s where I work best in general; I don’t do well with the distractions of public places. 7. Favorite childhood book? Oh gosh. I was a ridiculously avid reader all through childhood. I don’t know that I could pick a single one, but the Nancy Drew series had me from very early on. 8. Writing for fun or writing for publication? For fun! But in an ideal world there would also be publication in the future lol. 9. Pen and paper or computer? Computer! I used to do pencil and paper when I was in middle school/high school and filled up a few composition notebooks, but I get too easily sidetracked with pencil and paper and tend to end up doodling if I try to use it for writing nowadays. 10. Have you ever taken any writing classes? I have! I did a fiction/poetry combo the summer of 2014 which was very nice, a poetry class fall of 2015, and am currently in another poetry class. One day I’ll get to have my fiction workshopped again! :P 11. What inspires you to write? Lots of things - music, dreams, other people, daydreams...
Last sentence you wrote:
She’d thought maybe she was doing it wrong, and that was why, but she didn’t quite know how to ask.
Top 5-10 songs you listen to: 1. Fire Escape by Love, Robot 2. Cherry Tree by The National 3. I Wish I Was Your Cigarette by K.I.D. 4. Pretty Girl by Hayley Kiyoko 5. Beneath the Brine by The Family Crest
that one tag thing it didn’t have a title sorry Name: Mouse Star sign: Cancer Average hours of sleep: 5-8 depending on the day Lucky number: 7 or 27 based on numbers I like, but the OCD demands repetitions of 12 or 20 so take that as you will Last thing I googled: “panko crumbed turkey schnitzel” because I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT THAT WAS AND I WANTED TO KNOW IF I COULD EAT IT Favorite fictional character: Yes I Have Lots of Those What are you wearing right now: Batman pj pants and a soft green plaid buttonup When did you start this blog: May 2013 :’) please don’t go look at my first posts I was an embarrassing child What do I mostly post: Sailor Moon, Alex Kingston, helpful art things, and lately a lot of middle-of-the-night squawking about Scooby Doo Do I get a lot of asks: on the art blog! not here though lol Why did I choose this URL: River Song + memento mori
another one that doesn’t have a title I think sorry again O N E -name: Audrey || nickname: Mouse || zodiac sign: Cancer -height: 5′2″ || orientation: ace lesbian || ethnicity: white enough to make hiding in laser tag very difficult -favorite fruit: apple || favorite season: winter -favorite book: The Last Unicorn || favorite flower: carnation? -favorite scent: vanilla || favorite animal: cat -coffee, tea, or hot cocoa? no thank you -cats or dogs? cats -dream trip: I go to an abandoned, isolated castle in the middle of a wide-open field of green. no one is around. I am wearing a soft, billowy dress. I run through the halls of the castle to echoing sea shanties. in the tallest tower of the castle I sit and fill up an entire sketchbook and it doesn’t even matter if I mess up on a couple pages because I have brought sticky notes to try that cool thing where you just slap a sticky note over the mistake and keep going. -aesthetic: old empty buildings, soft blankets, girls holding hands, scuffed up knuckles and fingertips, the pages in a sketchbook where marker has bled through in just a few spots to make it look splattered, the smell of old books, antique brass pocketwatches, cold grey skies -favorite band/artist: Anberlin -fictional character I’d date: River Song, Elizabeth Corday, Makoto Kino -Hogwarts house: Ravenclaw T W O -countries I’ve lived in: US, UK I guess now? idk does it count -favorite fandom: uhh... if we’re talking about the fandom itself then Scooby Doo, there’s so little drama and everyone is just super into these goofy kids solving mysteries, it’s great -languages you speak: English, and I’m passable enough in Spanish that I could PROBABLY survive if I were dropped in a Spanish speaking country -favorite film of 2016: I have No Concept of Time and also don’t watch that many movies. did Wonder Woman come out in 2016? that’s like the only movie I’ve been to see in theatres recently. idk I apologize -last article you read: uhh something for class, so something about Gothic feminism -last thing you bought online: a maroon sweatshirt with Scooby’s face on it. I am the coolest adult and 12yo me would be proud. -how would your friends describe you: sweet but a huge dork, very little common sense, means well -how would your enemies describe you: I am always trying my best to not make enemies so?? I don’t know?
questions Nikki asked specifically 1. You spend an entire year in another time and place for the next three years of your life. When/where do you choose and why? THESE KINDS OF QUESTIONS STRESS ME OUT because on the one hand, access to everywhere and everywhen!! BUT ON THE OTHER HAND IF I GO TOO FAR BACK INTO THE PAST I LOSE ACCESS TO THINGS LIKE MEDICINE WHICH I NEED AND POSSIBLY CONTAMINATE THE POPULATION WITH MODERN-DAY GERMS WHILE IF I GO TOO FAR INTO THE FUTURE I GET EXPOSED TO BACTERIA/VIRUSES I HAVE NO IMMUNITY AGAINST. it’s a lose/lose. so... picking close enough to not do too much damage, I’ll spend one year following Agatha Christie around sometime in the 60s, mentor my younger self in 2010, and go through all of 2014 again just so I can go see the Armory production of Macbeth. 2. Okay, be honest: do you put your laundry away immediately, or does it sit somewhere in a pile for entirely too long? IT SITS AT THE END OF MY BED FOR WEEKS YOU DON’T HAVE TO CALL ME OUT LIKE THIS 3. Describe yourself as if you’re in a fic. (Scent, appearance, aura – everything & anything is game.) “She was small and mousy, in the sense that she was a bit skittish of everything and squeaked sometimes when she talked, always too quiet for the ‘real’ grownups. She stepped lightly, and tried to take up as little space as possible, and was almost a ghost for her efforts.” 4. What non-essential thing(s) do you blow the most money on? MARKERS AND BOOKS I am a simple woman with simple desires 5. Did you have extracurricular activities as a child? Any that you wish you’d done? I did ballet and cheer in elementary school for like two years, gymnastics for a bit; journalism in middle school (say hello to the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper y’all); drama in high school - I can’t say that I wish I’d done any more actually 6. You can time travel (or not) and have your portrait done by any artist. Who do you choose? I'm gonna go with El Greco simply because his “Penitent Magdalene” haunts me 7. You’re out in public. You see a cat. How do you react? point at it and say CAAAAAAAT and hope it doesn’t run away 8. What kind of weather do you thrive in, and what can you simply not do? A bit cloudy and 50-60 degrees F is ideal. I cannot abide heat. Anything above 80 degrees is repulsive. 9. Om nom nom, breakfast! What are your favorite breakfast foods? CEREAL AND WAFFLES 10. Do you like running up and/or rolling down hills? ...not particularly... I have a weird thing about heights, and inclines do not really help D:
How to become an Android developer - Android development basics
As a beginner, one of the hardest things is just knowing what you need to learn. Besides taking a look at how to become an Android developer, we will also discuss why you should learn Android development. Here at CodeBrainer, we come across students who ask us what kind of topics they need to learn before they become proficient in Android development. The checklist isn’t short; nevertheless, we have decided to list most of the points that beginners should check-off.
 First I must emphasise that this is a checklist but you can skip a step and you don’t need to learn it all in one week. It will take quite a bit of your time, but in the end, you will have enough skills to start a project of your own or start asking for internships, help a friend or acquaintance or even start applying for jobs.
 We will try to explain a little bit about every topic. But some things you will have to research on your own, nevertheless let us know if you think we should add something to the list.
  How to become an Android developer - Checklist
In our opinion, these are the skills and Android development basics you should conquer:
 Android Studio
Layout Editor
Emulator and running apps
Android SDK and API version
UI Components and UX
Storing Data locally within the app
Calling REST APIs
Material design, styling and themes
Java or Kotlin and Objective programming
Debugging
Learn how you can start creating apps with Flutter.
 How to become an Android developer -  WHY?
As I said, before we can talk about what to learn and how to become an Android developer, we have to talk about why you should learn it in the first place. A lot of students wonder where to start and to be perfectly honest; Android Development is an excellent place to start. There are a lot of reasons; I like Android because it is accessible to anyone and you can install development tools on most operating systems. For example, I run Android studio on my MacBook Pro :D
  Great IDE (Integrated development environment)
We will talk about Android Studio later, but for now, let me just tell you since it has grown to version 3, the IDE is excellent. With every version, we get more help in so many logical ways, that you will not even notice you are using artificial support.
  Easier to start than web development
I like web development, but I still like to promote mobile development to beginners. Why? With mobile development, you get a friendly environment from the start. The thing that makes mobile development better for beginners is that we all use mobile phones all the time. You get a feeling of how an app should look like and what kind of functionalities you will need. With web development, it is harder to get a feel for the whole website, since you are looking at only one page at a time and then doing another google search. Most of the time, you already own a device, and you can install an app directly to your device and show it to your friends. In fact, I guarantee they will be amazed at what you can do.
  Huge market size and mobile usage is still growing
The mobile application market has an excellent projection: by 2021, it is expected that the number of mobile app downloads worldwide will reach 352 billion. Android has a 76% market share compared to iOS, with 19%. We do have to be fair and admit that iOS is a better earner. Google Play earned $20,1B in revenue, while the App Store made a revenue of $38,5B. Google Play grew about 30 percent over 2016. And without doing any precise calculations, you can clearly see that this is a great market to work on.
  New technologies are coming fast
Google is favourite to be on the cutting edge of technology all the time. No to mention, more and more of it is available for developers to use. Google is opening its knowledge about machine learning and artificial intelligence with development kits. And these improvements are available to Android developers very quickly. This will keep you on the edge of curiosity and keep you in touch with the ever-evolving world of IT.
  Wide range of services for developers
Apart from new and cutting edge technologies, Google offers a lot of services to us out of the box. Maps, Analytics, Places for location awareness apps. A Great place to start is Firebase that offers notifications, analytics, crashlytics, real-time database (develop apps without the need for servers). Additionally, for launching apps all around the world, Test Lab could be a great partner, since you can test your app on a bunch of different devices.
  “Android developer” is a great job to have
There are now 2,5 billion monthly active Android devices globally, and it’s the largest reach of any computing platform of its kind. Globally speaking, between 70 to 80% of all mobile devices are Androids. There is a massive demand for new Android developers out there. And because the market is growing, there is a lack of Android developers all around the world. All in all, it is hard to determine an average salary for the whole world, but the fact is that you will get a decent salary for your knowledge no matter where you live. In the light of what has been said, let's take a look at how to become an Android developer.
  Android Studio
Since Android Studio is the best IDE (Integrated Development Environment) for Android development, this is the first thing you must conquer. For the most part, our content focuses on explaining about Android Studio as we explain development for Android. This goes the same for the Layout editor and the Code Editor.
  Android Studio - Layout Editor
The Layout Editor is part of Android Studio. In fact, this is the place where you design the UI (User Interface) for your app. The main parts of an Android project are XMLs for designing activities, drawables and other resources and Java (or Kotlin) files for all the code you will write. Of course, on your path on how to become an Android developer, you will encounter more advanced projects where you will also learn about the structure of a project in detail.
 But what I love most is that with the layout editor you are using a drag&drop approach and you can immediately see what you have done. You can place elements on the layout. You can group them into containers or views all using just your mouse. And this is great for beginners because you can get familiar with the code while already using a development environment. Even for mature developers, using visual tools helps when setting up screens, and in the layout editor, you can simulate the size of devices so that you can check if your design will work on all device sizes.
 In addition, we have added a more in-depth look into Layout Editor as well. Check our Layout Editor blog post, learn about it and also find out a little bit about a few hidden features, so that you will develop your activities (screens) with ease.
  Android Studio - Emulator and running apps
As we are creating apps for Android, and we want to run them to see how they look. One of the first things we need for that is an emulator. In fact, Android Studio has the ability to run an emulator out of the box. It has a lot of features. It runs fast and looks nice. All in all, it is a perfect tool to have. Generally speaking, this is just like going to the store and picking the best specs for your device, but in our case, it will be a virtual one.
 Unfortunately, sometimes you have to prepare your computer to run an emulator. Here is an extended manual on how to configure hardware acceleration for an emulator or read our blog post on how to run an emulator.
 You can also run an app on your mobile phone. This a good approach as well, as you check the touch and feel on a real device as you develop your app.
 Here is an explanation on how to install drivers to run an app on your device.
   Android SDK and API version
This is really a broad topic since it contains all that Android is about, all its functionalities. But as a beginner when you are starting to learn how to become an android developer, all you need to know is where to look for a new version, how to install it and a few pointers on which one to use.
 A simple explanation would be: SDK (Software Development Kit) is a bunch of tools, documentation, examples and code for us, developers to use. API (Application Programming Interface) is an actual collection of Android functionalities, from showing screens, pop-ups, notifications… everything. We will give you a hint, use the API above 21 since this will get enough of devices to work with. And for a new project always aim for the last three major versions.
  UI Components and UX
User interface components will link your app together, all the code, knowledge and data will be presented with some form of UI. UI means “user interface”, and this is what a user sees. UX means “user experience”, and this is the flow through the app, interactions, reactions to a users input, the whole story that happens within the app.
 Of course, the best source of getting familiar with UI components would be our Calculator course since it explains most of them in great detail.
    We have a few more blog posts explaining other UI Components, like a spinner, radio button and mail performing checks in our registration form blog post.
   Storing Data locally within the app
Storing data is essential for every app. It can be as simple as storing emails for a login to a full-blown database with tables, relations, filters… Moreover, we think you must go step by step on this topic and learn a little bit about what data is, what are entities, and where to store them.
 The first topic we cover is in our blog post about storing data within sharedPreferences, and you should read it. The next issue is storing even more data by using Room, which is a great implementation of ORM (object-relational mapping) and is part of Android. In fact, ORM lets us work with data as classes in our code, this is a more modern approach, but Room still allows us to use SQL statements if we want to.
    Calling REST APIs
All the mature apps use some kind of REST (Representational State Transfer) calls. For example, if an app wants to know what is the temperature outside, in some city, it would use a REST API to get the data. If we want to login into a social network and get the list of friends we would use a REST API. This is a topic strongly linked with storing data since we are storing and reading data just not within an app but on a server. In short, the main topic to learn is how to transform data from a REST API to local data structures and classes. And be sure to learn how to react if an error occurs and how to send data to a server.
  Material design, styling and themes
If you are thinking about how to become an Android developer, you have to learn how to create a nice app easily. For beginners, it is best to use material design and the Android Support library, which can help us make an app that will look great even without using a designer. All things considered, for mature apps, we will still use a designer to prepare a UI and UX, but for Android, it will be based on some variant of material design anyway. To summarize, on your path of how to become an Android developer, learning material design is essential.
  Java or Kotlin and Objective programming
Both Java and Kotlin are excellent languages to start learning. Java has more structure to it. But Kotlin is more modern in style. And both are good choices. Java is the right choice if you want to broaden your skills with back-end development since developers for Java back-end are in very high demand. Kotlin has a shorter implementation; this means you see less code, and more things are done for you.
 We are still teaching Java since it can be used elsewhere as well (Java backend for example), but Kotlin is a great choice as well. No matter what we choose for our language, we will have to learn some basics about it. In our courses, you will learn about Primitive Data types, Strings Control Structures (If, switch…), what are methods and of course all about classes (Inheritance, Interfaces and Abstract Classes). Arrays, sets, maps and other extended data types help us when working with a lot of data. For example, storing a list of people, list of cars, TODO tasks…
 Why is it important to dive deep into essentials? Having a good foundation on essentials and Java basics will help you develop more complex applications while keeping them simple and organised at the same time.
   Debugging
Debugging is an important part of programming since a lot of unpredictable flows will happen in our apps and we need a way of figuring out what went wrong, what was the source of an error and find a code that produced that error. When learning how to become an Android developer this might look like a tough topic, but at the core, it is something that will help you learn more advanced topics with ease since you will know how to track what the application is doing behind the scenes.
  Making your app ready for Google Play
Equally important to all the skills mentioned above on how to become an android developer is, opening your app to users all around the globe. All things considered, this is one of the primary motivators for building apps in the first place. We must have knowledge about signing our apps, how to upload them to Google Play, what kind of text descriptions we need, screenshots we will show in the store... We need icons, designs and texts. All in all, this knowledge will come in handy a lot. In the first place, it will help you distribute an app to the first test users in the alpha store and then move to a more broad audience with beta and the final step with the public release.
  How to become an Android developer - Conclusion
This is just a short list of topics we here at CodeBrainer think that you need when you think about how to become an Android developer. And we all want for you to be a great developer and make us proud. We will add advanced topics as we go. Advanced topics will just make you stand out from the crowd and give you comprehensive knowledge about Android. In the long run, what you need is experience, and this means practice, and then more practice.[Source]-https://www.codebrainer.com/blog/what-to-learn-checklist-for-android-beginners
What’s a trip to Osaka without splurging a little on shopping? One of the best things about shopping in Japan is that there is something for every budget and every need. There are so many interesting finds that just browsing through is usually an activity on its own for tourists. Today, I’m sharing my Osaka Shopping Haul (with price information) for you! The last time I did a shopping haul was during our trip to Seoul and found it to be quite a popular post.
DAISO
Daiso is my absolute favorite dollar store. Even when I’m at home in Manila, I tend to stop by Daiso whenever I can. I love how the items are of good quality and don’t look cheap. They also carry a lot of character products like Hello Kitty, My Melody, Disney Princesses, and even Mickey and Minnie Mouse. Most items are sold at ¥100 + 8% tax (¥108) unless otherwise indicated.
You can find a lot of storage baskets, arts and crafts, kitchen accessories and even home improvement tools in Daiso. Things you never thought you need, when you see it in Daiso, you’ll suddenly realize why you never have it in your life. I like Daiso stores in Japan and Korea because they are much bigger, hence they carry more items.
CAN★DO, SERIA AND 3COINS
Can★Do and Seria are dollar stores that are also quite popular in Japan. They pretty much carry the same stuff that you can find at Daiso. We chanced upon the Can★Do Discount store at the top floor of the Bic Camera building in Namba, the same floor where they sell discounted Bic Camera products. Similar in concept is 3coins where the minimum price for items is at ¥300 + 8% tax and carry a different mix of higher quality goods.
DON QUIJOTE
Don Quijote is the ultimate one-stop discount store. Here you’ll find absolutely anything you need. I once bought a chef’s knife in Don Quijote that I have been using every day for years now but still as sharp as when I first unboxed it. And if you are a chocolate or more specifically, a KitKat-lover, you’ll find every imaginable flavor in Don Quijote. They also have a wide selection of Japanese skincare and beauty products and some branches even carry a selection of discounted luxury brand items. What’s great about Don Quijote is that they offer tax-free shopping for tourists as long as your purchases are worth ¥5,000 or more. We usually stop by Don Quijote for souvenir shopping because it’s just more convenient since most of their stores close really late or are open 24 hours.
BIC CAMERA
You can tell by now that the Japanese like their stores to be a one-stop-shop for everything. Bic Camera is no different but what sets it apart is the great selection of home furnishings and appliances. And they usually have some sort of discount or promotion going on, this is on top of the tax-free shopping. My sister and I once scored two Nespresso machines for only ¥11,000 (there was a buy 1 take 1 promo at that time), that we still use today. Imagine, that’s only like $51 for each Nespresso Machine!
JAPANESE PHARMACIES AND DRUGSTORES
Pharmacies and drugstores are a great place to search and buy medicine, and beauty and skincare products. Two of the most popular drugstores are Daikoku Drug and Matsumoto Kiyoshi which have branches all over Japan. They have a wide range of beauty products and are at times cheaper than anywhere else.
TAX-FREE SHOPPING
Just a few notes about tax-free shopping for foreigners in Japan. Large retailers, department stores and now even small shops offer tax-free shopping to foreigners who are temporarily staying in Japan (less than 6 months). They may claim a refund of their 8% sales/consumption tax for purchases of over ¥5,000 (excluding tax). Your purchases are divided into two categories: general goods and consumables. You cannot combine both types of purchases to claim the tax exemption. Instead, your general goods and consumables would both have to meet the minimum purchase required of ¥5,000 in order to be tax-free. Starting October 1, 2019, the consumption tax will increase to 10%.
Compared to other countries wherein you’ll have to claim the tax refund at the airport, Japan had made the process simpler by letting the stores apply the tax refund during purchase. But whether it will be processed during payment or at a separate tax counter will depend on the store’s policy. In Bic Camera and Uniqlo, your sales tax will be deducted right away at the counter when you pay for the goods. You’ll have to go to their designated tax-free cashier in order to get this done. In Don Quijote, you’ll have to pay the total purchase plus tax, then go to their tax counter to get your money back. In all scenarios, you’ll have to present your passport (not just a photocopy), so they can verify your entry stamp to Japan and they will staple a document called Record of Purchase. No passport, no tax-free shopping. It’s that simple. You have to claim it on the same day you made the purchase. Your Record of Purchase will need to be surrendered when you get to the airport before you fly out of Japan. The tax counter is behind the security and baggage check. The process is pretty simple, just present your passport to the customs officer and he or she will detach the receipts from your passport and place it in a filing basket. Then you’re good to go!
In certain cases, especially if you’ve made luxury purchases, you may need to show the items to the customs officer upon departure. Some say that it’s not necessary but I’ve seen first-hand a couple of travelers who were asked to show their goods so better carry your tax-free purchases in your hand luggage. There are, of course, certain cases when it’s not possible for you to carry them all (liquid or weight restrictions) in your hand luggage. Just be prepared to explain to the customs officer that you have packed it in in your checked baggage and for what purpose did you buy the goods.
Discount or 100 Yen stores generally do not offer tax-free shopping. Stores that do offer tax-free shopping will have signage that says Japan Tax-free Shop.
My Osaka Japan Shopping Haul
1. Pastry Shop, Food Truck and Flower Shop 3D Paper Puzzle
I saw these little cute 3D Paper Puzzle (¥108) when I stumbled upon the arts and crafts section of Daiso. My daughter is still too young to build it herself but she did help me take out the parts and afterward, she played with the little town that we built for a while before moving on to her much sturdier toys.
It’s very easy to assemble, the end of each piece is numbered so you know which end goes where. I especially liked the food truck, it’s so cute! You can buy similar or even more intricate 3D paper/wooden puzzles online. This is a perfect gift for crafters! Check my recommendations below
Buy online: Hands Craft Coffee Shop | WYD Chocolate Shop | WYD Japanese Sushi House
  2. Clothes Shop, Kitchen, Cafe and Bedroom 3D Paper Puzzle
Also from Daiso, these are pretty much the same 3D Paper Puzzle (¥108) like the ones above, the only difference is the packaging. This came in a box with a separate sheet for the instructions. If I remember correctly, there are a few more variants but these were the only ones available at that time. I saw online a Traditional Japanese home puzzle which I would love to add to this little 3D puzzle town collection!
I’ll be posting photos of the assembled 3D Paper Puzzles soon, so be sure to come back and check that out!
Buy online: GoldFlower 3D Puzzle | AmazaToys Make Your Own Dollhouse For advanced builders, you may be interested in these Rolife 3D Wooden Miniature Dollhouse Rooms.
3. Coloring Books
Also in the arts and crafts section of Daiso are these Coloring Books (¥108). My little girl loves to color so I tend to pick up a bunch of coloring books whenever I can. These are also the perfect travel activity for your globe-trotting tots! And for just about a dollar each, these are a really great bargain!
Buy online: Super Sweet Coloring Book | Unicorn Activity Book | Melissa and Dough On the Go Coloring Pad and On the Go Magicolor
Even if you’re not a fan, you’re bound to pick up a Hello Kitty item when in Japan. There is a Sanrio store in the middle of the Shinsaibashi shopping strip for the ultimate Hello Kitty fans but for bargain hunters, 100 Yen stores are the perfect place to hoard on Sanrio items! My Hello Kitty haul is a Whiteboard (+ marker), a lunch bag, a small accessories pouch, an earphone case, a small bowl and three of those plastic food wrappers which I initially thought were stickers. All of these costs ¥108 each and can be found either in Daiso or Can★Do. I bought these stuff for my daughter and some were given as prizes during her birthday party!
3Coins is another discount store that’s popular in Japan but instead of everything priced at ¥100, the minimum price of its products is at ¥300, hence the name 3 coins. It’s still obviously a good deal as some of the items that they sell are more stylish than the ones from 100 Yen stores. I picked up a Canvas Tote bag that was on sale and for only ¥150. It’s simple and easy to stuff my things when I’m running my errands.
Buy online: Hello Kitty Makeup Bag | Hello Kitty Finex Meal Set | Andes Canvas Tote Bag
  5. Kids Lunch Box and Eating Utensils
Sanrio is not the only trademarked items that you’ll find inside Daiso. They also carry some Sesame Street items like this lunch/food containers. I also picked up a small Sanrio drinking cup and a cutlery set, which is perfect for traveling with kids. I got an earphone case for me and my sister. It’s big enough to hold not only my earphone adapter but my trusty iPod shuffle as well. And since I always carry a pack of baby wipes with all the time, why not make it even cuter with this Elmo wet wipe lid. Except for the cutlery set which costs ¥162, everything else was at ¥108 each.
Heart marshmallows (¥108)
Rice Crackers (¥108 for 4 packs)
I tend to pick up a lot of Japanese snacks and candies as we go around Japan. There’s just so many that I want to try and they are pretty cheap. It’s also great to stock up on these treats and get them as souvenirs.
Buy online: Mentos Caramel and Chocolate | Hello Kitty Lollipop Candy | Meiji Hello Panda | Morinaga Caramel Milk | Jagabee Potato Sticks | Alfort Bourbon Chocolate Biscuit | Japanese Fruit Mochi | Meiji Black Chocolate | Black Thunder Choco Bar | Bonchi Rice Crackers
  7. Meltykiss Green Tea and Dark Chocolate
Meltykiss is like a cheap alternative to Royce’ Nama Chocolate. But if you know Japanese products, cheap products don’t necessarily equate to low quality. A box of Royce’s Nama Chocolate costs ¥720. And these little babies? They’re only ¥198 (+8% tax) each box! You can find Meltykiss everywhere from groceries to convenience stores. These two boxes I bought from Don Quijote.
Buy online: Melty Kiss Creamy Chocolate | Melty Kiss Green Tea Chocolate
  8. KitKat Chocolate
#gallery-0-47 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-47 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-47 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-47 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
KitKat Classic Milk Chocolate (Don Quijote ¥198)
KitKat Otona no Amasa Deep Matcha (Don Quijote ¥398)
KitKat White and Milk Chocolate Mix (Daikoku Drug ¥198)
KitKat Dark Chocolate (Don Quijote ¥238)
KitKat Premium Mint (Don Quijote/Bic Camera ¥398)
KitKat is a very popular souvenir choice for tourists especially with its unbelievable assortment of flavors, many of which are exclusive to the Japanese market. What I bought was (not even) the tip of the KitKat iceberg. The Matcha flavor alone has many sub-varieties like the popular KitKat Uji Matcha and the one pictured above, KitKat Otona no Amasa Dark Matcha. There’s a regular version of the latter too so no matter what your preference is, you’re bound to find one that you would really like.
There are also seasonal flavors like Sakura and some unimaginable like Wasabi or Apple Vinegar. The more common variety is usually packaged in these packs that hold 12 to 14 individually wrapped mini KitKats but for the special flavors, it’s usually in a box. Prices vary.
Truth be told, I’m not a big KitKat eater but I have a soft spot for their Matcha flavor, and basically, anything that’s dark or mint-flavored. Oh, I love the Strawberry Cheesecake variety too but must have missed it when I was shopping.
Buy online: KitKat Green Tea | KitKat Strawberry | KitKat Tiramisu | KitKat Dark Chocolate | KitKat Premium Mint
  9. Royal Milk Tea
Everywhere you go in Japan, there’s a vending machine (or two) almost at every corner. And they don’t only dispense drinks, you can get snacks, fast food, and even some mystery packages.
At almost every beverage vending machine, there’s bound to be a milk tea in the selection. Royal Milk Tea is one of the most popular brands so I was very happy to see this instant version when we were in Bic Camera. The taste is very close to the ready to drink bottled version.
Buy online: Nitto Kocha Instant Royal Milk Tea
  10. Kose Clear Turn Skin Mask (50 pcs)
#gallery-0-48 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-48 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-48 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-48 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Kose Clear Turn Plumping Mask
Kose Clear Turn Whitening Mask
I’ve read tons of great reviews about Kose Clear Turn Masks so imagine my surprise when I saw this at Daikoku Drugstore for only ¥948! Instead of individually packaged face masks, this resealable pack contains 50 face masks with enough essence to soak each piece. It’s a really great bargain and I guess you could say that it is earth-friendly since you don’t have to throw away any packaging every time you feel the need of using a face mask.
Kose Clear Turn Mask has many variants. I only purchased two and have only opened the Kose Clear Turn Plumping Mask to try because I still have a lot of face masks leftover from my Seoul trip last year.
Putting on a face mask is my favorite skincare ritual and I do it at least three times a week. I’ve used the Kose Clear Turn Plumping Mask several times already and I must say I’m impressed. My skin is so much softer and well-hydrated after. It’s doesn’t irritate my skin or cause any sting (which some other brands do). The resealable pack has 50 face masks inside. Just pull out a sheet, put it on your face and make sure to reseal the bag tightly so as not to dry out the essence. The essence quantity is just right to hydrate your face for 15 to 20 minutes.
I guess this is the disadvantage of using bulk sheet masks. Some may find the essence to be not enough. Personally, I don’t mind because 15 minutes is enough time for me to put on a mask and if I ever feel the need to hydrate my skin more, I use whatever excess mask essence that I saved up in a small bottle to drench the sheet again.
I’m excited to try the other variants of Kose Face Masks but I’ll hold off for now until at least I start using my other pack. This is definitely going to be my regular face mask since it’s so affordable and convenient to use.
Buy online: Kose Clear Turn Moist Charge Mask | Kose Clear Turn Whitening Mask
  11. Shiseido Tsubaki Botanical Moist Shampoo
Another popular Japanese brand is Shiseido and their Tsubaki Shampoo and Conditioner line have also been receiving rave reviews. The Tsubaki Botanical range comes in three variants: Red for Moist and Manageable, Blue for Smooth and Silky, and Pink for Airy and Light. Instead of a bottle, I picked up a refill pouch instead. My hair tends to be picky with hair products and I usually switch over the brand that I use every two washes. I currently have at least three brands that I use alternately to wash my hair.
I have used this several times and so far I’m liking it. My hair is not that frizz even if I let it air dry (which I usually do when I’m only staying at home) and it’s so much smoother. The scent is not overpowering and does not linger on that much which some people prefer but I personally like scented shampoos. I still feel that I may need to occasionally switch my shampoo brands though or maybe I should try the Smooth variant instead.
Buy online: Shiseido Tsubaki Extra Moist Shampoo | Shiseido Tsubaki Volume Touch Shampoo
  12. Starbucks Tumbler (Osaka)
I’ve started a Starbucks City Tumbler Collection a while back, and I picked this up at the very busy Starbucks Tsutaya Ebisubashi branch in Dotonbori. This costs ¥2,000 plus ¥160 (tax). It’s the perfect size for my morning cup of joe.
  13. Jins 40% Screen Blue Light Glasses and Disney’s Belle Hard Case
This has been on my wishlist for a while. I have 20/20 vision but it’s always a good idea to protect my eyes as early as possible especially since I spend a good amount of time on my laptop or on the phone for work. There were instances when my eyes were just too strained and will either twitch or feel irritated. The Jins Screen Glasses reduces the blue light emitted from a digital screen. There are options to pick up a pair that blocks 25%, 40% or 60% (recommended to use at night) of blue light. I got myself a Jins Screen Blue Light Glasses (40% Cut) for only ¥5,000.
Jins is a very popular Japanese eyewear brand and there’s a store also in the Shinsaibashi shopping street. Be sure to check them out when you’re in Japan and pick up a pair or two! You can also have your prescription glasses ordered and picked up within an hour. And yes, it’s tax-free for tourists as long as your purchase exceeds ¥5,000.
The Jins Screen Glasses doesn’t come with a hard case (just the soft pouch) but luckily, I found this Disney case in Daiso for only ¥108!
Buy online: Anrri Blue Light Blocking Glasses | Hacloser Glasses Hard Case
  14. Royce’ Nama Chocolate
Lastly, we picked up three boxes of Royce’ Nama Chocolate at the Kansai International Airport Duty-Free for ¥720 each box. There were many flavors available but the ones I picked up were Ghana Bitter (Dark), Au Lait (Milk) and Maccha (Green Tea). My personal favorite was the Ghana Bitter. The darker the chocolate, the better.
Buy online: Royce Nama Chocolate Green Tea Hojicha
Thought long and hard about whether to write a post this week as I have done pretty much nothing of note. Then I thought to myself, I have had a lifetime of doing nothing of note and it has never stopped me posting before so here we are. How are you? Did you manage to get a clear sky and see the ‘Blood Moon’? No? Me neither but hey. Not the first and probably won’t be the last and a red moon is a red moon right?
So. My week went pretty quickly. After the busy weekend and fun of Harrogate it was somewhat of an anticlimax (understatement), but it did show me what a fabulous bunch of folk I know and I appreciate your friendship and support so much. Those who know me, know why. Those who don’t yet know why will find out soon enough. Cryptic you say? Hell yeah.
Happy to report I think the internet is fixed. Made my week. Yep. It’s one of those weeks where the little things matter. A lot. Also been doing a lot of reading which after the paltry two books (good as they were) I managed to finish last week, is not a bad thing. I’m now ahead of my reading schedule. Whoop whoop. Might even make a dent in my Netgalley mountain if I’m lucky.
Book wise, it’s been a pretty slow week for me. Two bits of book post and one e-book post and one book on Netgalley. No new Amazon orders either. I know. I should be ashamed right? My book post was most excellent. First I got a copy of Trap by Lilja Sigurdardottir from the lovely Orenda books, who were also responsible for my e-book post, After He Died by Michael J Malone. My second bit of book post was The Syndicate by Guy Bolton from the lovely folk at One World. Netgalley wise it was Karin Slaughter’s Pieces of Her which I’m reading for a blog tour.
Books I Have Read
The Language of Secrets – Ausma Zehanat Khan
AN UNDERCOVER INFORMANT HAS BEEN MURDERED… BUT WHOSE SIDE WAS HE ON?
The sequel to The Unquiet Dead by Ausma Zehanat Khan, featured on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour
‘Powerful’ – Bookpage * ‘Exceptionally fine’ – Library Journal * ‘Compelling’ – Leigh Russell
A terrorist cell is planning an attack on New Year’s Day. For months, Mohsin Dar has been undercover, feeding information back to the national security team. Now he’s dead.
Detective Esa Khattak, compromised by his friendship with the murdered agent, sends his partner Rachel Getty into the unsuspecting cell. As Rachel delves deeper into the unfamiliar world of Islam and the group’s circle of trust, she discovers Mohsin’s murder may not be politically motivated after all. Now she’s the only one who can stop the most devastating attack the country has ever faced.
The Unquiet Dead author Ausma Zehanat Khan once again dazzles with a brilliant mystery woven into a profound and intimate story of humanity.
Ah. This book. What a read. I knew when I started it that it was one I needed to take time over, and take time I did. Set in a world of hatred, intolerance, suspicion and violence and against a backdrop of terrorism, Khattak and Getty are back in a case which could see them both in a perilous position. Family and loyalty are key themes in this marvelous follow up to The Unquiet Dead. You can catch up with my review in the highlights below and order a copy of the book here.
Death Rope – Leigh Russell
The new novel in the million-copy selling Detective Geraldine Steel series
‘UNMISSABLE’ – LEE CHILD * ‘A RARE TALENT’ – DAILY MAIL * ‘BRILLIANT’ – JEFFERY DEAVER
Mark Abbott is dead. His sister refuses to believe it was suicide, but only Detective Sergeant Geraldine Steel will listen.
When other members of Mark’s family disappear, Geraldine’s suspicions are confirmed.
Taking a risk, Geraldine finds herself confronted by an adversary deadlier than any she has faced before… Her boss Ian is close, but will he arrive in time to save her, or is this the end for Geraldine Steel?
Good lord this book. Murder, lies, secrets and double crossing in this book which sees Geraldine Steel pitted against a most savage killer. This had me guessing until the end and on the edge of my seat. Top read and another stunning entry in a brilliant series. I’ll be sharing my thoughts tomorrow as part of the blog tour but you can order a copy of the book here to get ahead of the game.
Do No Harm – LV Hay
Till death do us part…
After leaving her marriage to jealous, possessive oncologist Maxwell, Lily and her six-year-old son have a second chance at happiness with headteacher Sebastian. Kind but vulnerable, Sebastian is the polar opposite of Maxwell, and the perfect match for Lily. After a whirlwind romance, they marry, and that’s when things start to go wrong…
Maxwell returns to the scene, determined to win back his family, and events soon spiral out of control. Lily and Sebastian find themselves not only fighting for their relationship, but also their lives…
Chilling, dark and terrifying, Do No Harm is a taut psychological thriller and a study of obsession, from one of the most exciting new voices in crime fiction.
Twisted. That’s the only way I can think to describe this book. Twisted relationships, twisted minds and a truly twisted storyline which had me guessing and second guessing myself from start to finish. Fired through it in an afternoon and evening and the ending left me astounded. In a good way. Fabulous read and if you’d like to find out why you can order a copy here.
Kiss of Death – Paul Finch
Could this be the end for Heck?
The Sunday Times bestseller returns with an unforgettable crime thriller. Fans of MJ Arlidge and Stuart MacBride won’t be able to put this down.
Don’t let them catch you…
A Deadly Hunt DS ‘Heck’ Heckenburg has been tasked with retrieving one of the UK’s most wanted men. But the trail runs cold when Heck discovers a video tape showing the fugitive in a fight for his life. A fight he has no chance of winning.
A Dangerous Game Heck realises that there’s another player in this game of cat and mouse, and this time, they’ve not just caught the prize: they’ve made sure no one else ever does.
A Man Who Plays With Fire How far will Heck and his team go to protect some of the UK’s most brutal killers? And what price is he willing to pay?
Dang. This book. That ending. What a story. High stakes from the off this sees our favourite hero Heck tracking down a fugitive and not remotely prepared for what he is about to find. This book takes you on a real adventure where everything is at stake and my god, the ending will have you on the edge of your seat and then stuck in slack jawed shock. Top stuff and fans of the series are in for an absolute treat. You can order a copy of the book here.
The Affiar – Sheryl Browne
The moment she opened her eyes, she knew everything had changed. The stale taste of alcohol; her uneasy stomach. She looked at her husband sleeping peacefully, and knew she would never tell anyone what happened last night.
You will think you know what happened to Alicia that night.
You will see a desperate wife, lying to her husband.
You will watch a charming lover, trying to win her back.
You will judge her, just like everyone else.
You will assume you know what happens next. But everything you think you know about the past, the relationships, what drives Alicia and her husband to lie… is wrong.
If you loved The Girl on the Train, The Wife Between Us and The Sister, you’ll love this compelling and gripping psychological thriller from Sheryl Browne. The Affair will have you hooked from the very first page!
If I were to be honest, it is hard to know quite where to classify this book. it’s not quite domestic noir, more domestic drama or suspense, but if nothing else, it’s addictive. Raced through this in a day and while it’s not a story that will leave you guessing, it is powerful stuff. Those opening scenes nearly had me in tears. And the tension towards the end … A fab read. You can order a copy of the book here.
Not bad huh? Five books. Not sure I’ll do as well in the week to come as I have the beauty of Bute Noir to amuse me at the weekend but that does me a couple of long train journeys so who knows? Anything is possible. Blog was pretty busy too this week – recap below.
A Cold Flame by Aidan Conway
The Emperor of Shoes by Spencer Wise
Mini Review: No Time To Cry by James Oswald
Press Release: Bloody Scotland – Ashley Jensen appearing at this year’s Festival
Guest Post: Abby’s Promise by Rebekah Dodson
The Language of Secrets by Ausma Zehanat Khan
The Daughter of River Valley by Victoria Cornwall
This week sees me and Mandie buried under blog tours – happy days. Starting today with One Little Lie by Sam Carrington, we also have Death Rope by Leigh Russell, Her Name Was Rose by Claire Allan, My Very Italian Holiday by Sue Roberts, Murder By The Broads by Anthony Tamiozzo, Her Last Breath by Charlie Gallagher, Telegrams and Teacakes by Amy Miller and Murder on the Marshes by Clare Chase.
Not too bad, but it’s mostly Mandie’s hard work this week. Making her earn her keep so to speak. Or her books. Either or.
Have a fabulous week all. I am hoping for a nice sunny one up in Bute. If all else fails there will be cake and books. What more can a girl want?
See you on the other side.
Jen
