Jeonghan distinctly remembers going to sleep on his own with no one else on the bed. It was a pleasant surprise for him to see you on the other side when he rolled over.
If there was anything he enjoyed most about being an active member of the Korean military, it was that he was not subject to the grueling demands of an idol’s schedule. He could just be a regular Korean citizen—something he hasn’t had the luxury to experience in about a decade.
He couldn’t say the same for you, though, who also worked in the entertainment industry with hours just as long as his used to be. It was evident in the way you were sprawled over the bed, caring less about how you looked and how you ended up sleeping. Your neck was in such an awkward position compared to your body that Jeonghan was so sure you’d wake up with a stiff neck, and he would not allow that.
He knew you were as much of a light sleeper as he was. And as much as he wanted to caress your face or smooth down your hair, he shouldn’t for fear of waking you up from a much-deserved slumber.
But he wasn’t Yoon Jeonghan, part-time troublemaker, for nothing. And he missed you, as he did every day, so what other reason could there be to justify him not holding the love of his life as dearly as he wanted to?
You must’ve been absolutely drained because you didn’t even react at the gentlest of his touches. Jeonghan smiled and continued his soft strokes on your head. A forehead kiss did merit the slightest reaction from you—an automatic one where you seemed to involuntarily lean into the touch of his lips making contact on your skin.
He smirked. If only you could see it and how much it gave away how smug he felt to see you still craving for his touch. He checked the time from the standard military watch on his hand—5:37 am. It was time for him to get up.
He checked his phone, tapping into your work calendar to see your schedule. You still had a few hours of sleep left before your shoot scheduled for 1 pm. That was good, he thought, you need all the rest before another chaotic variety show shoot until whatever ungodly hour of the night.
The military discipline easily merged with Jeonghan’s idol discipline. It may not be the same for all fellow idols on active duty, but others have mentioned how similar both were. It was the implicit and discrete need for order and organization that both disciplines shared. It made sure everything was clean-cut and picture-perfect for idols on screen, and that everyone followed uniform standards with a code of conduct for active soldiers to learn.
Jeonghan was used to it. And such disciplines included even the simplest task of making the bed. He fluffed his pillow, he fixed the sheets he messed up on his side with a military tuck—and you didn’t even budge. You were out cold.
Jeonghan huffed a sigh, running his hands through his short-cropped hair—something he was still getting used to. “Aigoo-yaaaaa” was all he said with all the endearment in his heart.
He shuffled over to your side and, as gently as he could, fixed your sleeping position to avoid that impending stiff neck of yours. He also fixed the clothes already riding up in places because of how haphazardly you put them on. Thankfully, you remembered to remove your makeup before going to sleep this time. He was almost late for duty the last time he stayed to carefully remove it for you while you slept.
Carefully, he fluffed up your pillow and fixed the sheets as much as possible. He opened up the blanket and let it rest on your sleeping figure. He so badly wanted to engulf you in a warm embrace, but he loved tucking you in and seeing your relaxed expression just as much.
He left one final parting gift: a kiss on your cheek. Okay, maybe more than one gift—another kiss, a light brush of his lips on yours.
Jeonghan’s military enlistment allowed him to be a regular Korean citizen. That just gave him more opportunities to spend time with you and treat you the way a regular Korean citizen would. It was a welcome break for your relationship if it meant he could love you without all of the lights and cameras and judgmental eyes in the way.
Walking from the bedroom to the kitchen, he checked his phone once again and opened the calendar app. Peering at the time block for 7 pm later, he made sure his schedule and yours was a free time block. He couldn’t wait to share the wild stories about him and his fellow military men that would have to wait until tonight.

Click.
The front door to Dazai's dorm room creaked open and the man sluggishly strode into his mess of an abode. His hair was messy and there were bags under his tired eyes. He hasn’t been sleeping for almost two weeks now, and as much as he hate to admit, he's tired of everything. For now he just wished to slump himself onto his worn out futon beside the empty bottles of cheap sake and cans littered all around the floor.
Though, looking around, the empty bottles and cans were no longer scattered on the floor. In fact, the floor was for once actually clean. If not for his completely not-functioning brain, Dazai would've figured everything out long before he entered his room. But the answer to his curiosity came flying to him the moment you jumped out from around the corner. “HAPPY BIRTHDAYYYYYY” You yelled out as you leaped forward, not even caring whether people from the other dorms could hear or not. You embraced him into a tight hug and snuggled yourself into his chest.
The man was overjoyed to see you after so long but couldn’t help but be slightly confused. “Huh?” He tilted his head to the side as his gaze lingered on you. “It’s your birthday, have you forgotten?” You looked up upon hearing his noise of confusion. Dazai sheepishly scratched the back of his neck. “Noo…? Of course not.” You stared at him with a deadpanned look on your face.
“Alright fine, I forgot. I was so busy lately though… You can’t blame me, right bella? Besides, it’s not that important anyway.”
You dramatically gasped at his remark, feeling absolutely flabbergasted. “What?? Don’t say that! I promise I’ll make you cherish your birthday and look forward to the next one!” Dazai found himself softly smiling at your words as you pulled away slightly and grasped his hand in yours. “Have you seen the bathroom yet?” You watched as Dazai slightly shook his head before dragging him to the bathroom.
Dazai’s eyes widened at the sight. You really have overdone yourself this time, haven’t you? The bathtub was filled with steaming water with fresh crimson rose pedals floating on it, creating perfect ripples. Meanwhile, lit candles are placed all over the side of the tub. Refreshing scents filled the warm steamy room while the flickering candle lights set a comfortable atmosphere. The corners of Dazai’s lips curled up into a soft smile before he leaned down to press a quick and fleeting kiss on your cheek.
“You did all this for me? Heheh thank you my bella”
He cradled your face in his palms ever so tenderly, his thumbs gently caressing your cheekbones, as he leaned forward to press another kiss to your forehead. “Shall we get in bella?” You nodded and began helping Dazai shred of his layers, gently pushing his coat, his waistcoat and his shirt down his shoulders. You press a kiss to his bandaged neck before helping him unwrap the ribbons of bandages off his scarred body. You let Dazai help you unbutton your shirt and slip your slacks off before letting you guide him into the bathtub.
A pleasant sigh escaped Dazai’s lips as he felt the warm water envelop his body. You hands trailed up his torso and found refuge on the smooth surface of his shoulders, kneading gently down onto his tense muscles to release the built-up stress. Dazai’s hands held onto your hips as you let your hands trail down again and your lips pressed soft kisses on his neck and shoulders. Trails of soft whimpers escaped his pretty lips at the sensation he hadn’t felt for so long.
Unable to hold back, he cupped your cheeks and brought your face to his, clashing his lips to yours. You gasped softly when he pulled you into that passionate kiss. His tongue dragged along your bottom lip, asking for access before slipping in when you gave him permission. Your tongues danced together before you pulled away, gasping desperately for air. You pressed another chaste kiss to his lips and buried my face into the crook of his neck. The candles on the side illuminating your bodies embraced together in a warm yellow light, as you whispered:
“Happy birthday ‘Samu.”

— mornings ;
In the time of spring when the bark of trees and the flat of pavements were washed with rain, Simon liked to visit the farmer’s market after his morning run. He had left you today in your shared bed, doubtlessly still dreaming as the sun dithered behind the veil of clouds, and shrugged on a hoodie, getting his trainers out from a rack in the closet. His route was dewy with a gentle mist, not enough to keep people from going about their day, but it was the good kind that cleaned the city air and sweetened the long brooms of blossoms hanging over the sidewalks.
The canopy over a flower stall dripped onto his hood as Simon stepped underneath it. Bundles of flowers were arranged in buckets with chalkboard plates sticking out, the signs advertising 3 for £10, and he browsed for a bit, thinking of you.
There was a time when all Simon knew about flowers was the memory of a window box in his childhood kitchen. Long gone, he remembers his mother potting red and pink flowers and relishing the process—the fulfilling feeling of dirt beneath her fingernails and the satisfaction of roots tenderly planted. One day a hummingbird flitted to the window while he ate his toast before school, and it was a still moment of wonder as the tiny bird prodded the ruby petals before zipping on, quick as light.
Now he was in love with his own hummingbird. A love rare and fleeting, one that, when you don’t catch it in your hands and earn every moment of keeping it, would flutter away and never return. Love could speak in flowers, he decided, when he first began to visit your flat and admire the fresh bouquet you kept on your table every time he came. I like them, you had said simply, and he smoothed a petal between his two fingers. And though he saw himself as a brute with hands better suited for violence than caresses, he wanted to learn about the gentler things in life he once thought could never be part of his.
Simon frees his nose from his face mask to smell a strange spire of green, bell-shaped flowers he had never seen before.
“Those are called Bells of Ireland,” the aproned shop lady pipes up from behind her booth. He glances over and finds she isn’t put off by his tall, dark, and out-of-place presence in the least.
“I’ll take them,” he replies. Their scent was light and earthy, like mint and lavender mingled, and their bells resemble leaves with their vein-like texture. Rare and exquisite, and perfectly you. He also picks out a cluster of mauve roses and peachy ranunculus, thinking about the way you smiled with your eyes closed when you smell his bouquets, your lips still curved when you kiss him afterwards, and lays them all on the counter.
“What a lucky girl,” the woman comments, gathering his selections and bundling them in wax paper secured with a rubber band. Simon wasn’t so sure. He always thought you could do better than him, but you would never let him catch himself thinking like that out loud. No matter what he believed of his nature, he vowed to fight like hell to be the kind of man you did deserve. So he pays the woman and bids her good day, heading on to the next stall with you on his mind as he picks out fresh strawberries and bread for the beginning ingredients of a wholesome breakfast.
At home, Simon fills a vase with the tap and trims the flower stems, arranging each fragrant bloom in harmony with the other. He brews one of your favorite teas and sets out the honey, tending to a sizzling pan in between, then decides to open your bedroom window to gently wake you.
A warm and pleasant wind sways the curtains. Amidst their wispy movements you lay on your back, breathing deep and slow, until the song of church bells and finches twittering from the chimney tops flutters your lashes to take in the tranquil morning. Simon draws his knuckles across your forehead and follows your cheek. With sleep soft in your pretty eyes, this was his favorite view of you.
“There she is, my everything,” he murmurs.
“Hmm. I was dreaming.” With a brush of his thumb over your smiling lips, you open your eyes and gaze at him warmly, happily, holding his hand there.
Funny…he muses.
You kiss his caressing hand. “You smell like oranges.”
“I made breakfast.”
And with that you’re throwing the comforter back, springing to your feet and wrapping a sweater around your nightgown-clad form.
“It’s not going anywhere, love,” he chuckles. These mornings were you had the whole day together were his favorite. You sat out on the balcony, taking in the trees with their sprouting green tips and cutting into your French toast, planning your day together with your bare foot resting over his socked one. The sunshine of your presence fills the depths of his chest to the brim with contentment, and he wants it to last forever.

I LOVE the new boys, i have SO many questions and thoughts about them, you have such amazing imagination, What would a relationship with them be like? Would they have the initiative or us? how would they do it?, You don't have to answer i'm kinda rambling sorry, your work always makes me smile
Thank you! I did have some thoughts about that!
Spectr (Transcendtale Sans): He plays hard to get… except he’s not really playing, he…he actually is hard to get. As much as he can see lots in you worthy of love and admiration, himself… Well. He’s complicated, you know? Emotionally and logistically, in more ways than one. You can certainly find someone better suited to appreciate you than him…but he has a hard time staying away, and if you chase after him, he probably won’t be able to find it in himself to run. He falls into a relationship with you like planets fall into orbit—a slow, synchronous dance as natural and irresistible as the tides.
PapAIrus (Transcendtale Papyrus): He’s absolutely taking the lead, the one to approach you and actively try to charm the pants off you possibly literally. He finds you interesting, fun, and how else is he supposed to find out if you’d like to play with him if he doesn’t ask? He’s bound to be a little light-hearted and flippant about your relationship at the start, maybe not taking it as seriously as you’d like. He’s got his head in the cloud, and all the data and information and free access to everyone and everything on the planet in there is a lot to compete with—but don’t doubt you’ll win out in the end. He’ll serious up as time goes by, but no matter how serious he gets about you, you’ll never stop being his favorite plaything.
Xanth (Ascendswap Sans): He’ll take the initiative but he might come on a little strong, or…weird…because he’s weird. He’s very genuine and open with why he’s interested in you so the straightforwardness could either be refreshing or uncomfortable, depending on how it lands with you. Mostly, he just wants to get to know you more so he’s fine with whatever pace you set from there, as long as he gets to be around your energy. In a relationship, he likes to go with your flow, just be and do and feel with you and see where the wind takes you both—wherever you end up, he’ll have had a great traveling companion for the road.
Piper (Ascendswap Piper): It could go either way with him. He’s certainly not too shy to approach someone he’s interested in, but neither does he dislike the ego-boost of getting someone to come to him. In both cases he’s a smooth operator, his ‘trick’ not required. In a relationship, he makes a point of being your Prince Charming, whether it’s your first date or your hundredth, and all the time in between, too. For all that he’s genial and pleasant from the start, he will take some time to really warm up and trust you—to introduce you to his family, to share his past, to let you see more than just the clean and polished parts of him—but once he does defrost, he’s all yours.
Carmine (Underfell Fruition Sans): If he’s interested, he’s letting you know immediately with…varying levels of respect (on the low end, ranging between a double-take and a maybe-not-meant-to-be-out-loud ‘goddamn’). He likes to flirt and talks a big game but… he’s actually pretty new to this kinda thing, and in a relationship, he probably wants to keep things casual for awhile, nothing too serious too fast. He just got out of lockup, he’s not really looking to settle down right away, y’know? But he’s perfectly willing to adhere to the rules of engagement, so if you don’t mind casual for awhile, he’s plenty of fun, a great plus-one for everything, guaranteed. And if you are willing to wait him out, the ‘not too serious’ thing isn’t forever, of course. What, like he’s gonna let The One get away over a bit of commitment? Pfft…
Tank (Underfell Fruition Papyrus): It’s gonna be down to you to make the first move, he has no idea what he’s doing and is still kind of figuring out what he’s allowed to do or ask for, even if he’s very smitten with you—and why wouldn’t he be? He definitely needs to be told that you’re open to having him in your space, as part of your life in that way, or he may not want to risk upsetting you. For the same reason, he needs patience in a relationship because he moves slowly and doesn’t really know how to talk about his feelings. A little grace as he navigates a new kind of relationship with way different rules than the other kinds goes a long way, and with it, he warms up quickly to some of the perks that non-platonic affection and intimacy allow him. He tends to speak more with his gestures and actions than what he says, so never mistake a lack of words for a lack of feeling—he feels a lot, and he just needs to figure out what do with it all!
Vi (Swapfell Fruition Sans): Most likely to make the first move, but… he has no charm whatsoever, and a very direct approach that might be a little off-putting. …Then again, ‘weird guy rizz’ alone might at least (somehow) score him a date, or two, or three, and you could go from there. He’s committed from the jump and puts as much thought and care and meticulous planning into your relationship as any high-profile political assassination he’s ever managed…which is probably something he shouldn’t say to you, another one of those awkward, off-putting things… He has his issues, of course—secrecy, insecurity, emotional constipation—but he always takes you very seriously and never wants to lose esteem in your eyes. You are someone he doesn’t want to lose.
Hunter (Swapfell Fruition Papyrus): Yeah, he’s taking the initiative and doing it well, he’s a good flirt, fun, and persistent, and he has a way of getting people to go home with him against their better judgment—hey, he doesn’t mind being a guilty pleasure and in fact, maybe he could be yours…? As far as a relationship goes, he doesn’t take too much seriously, so it’s bound to be pretty casual for awhile, like a game of tug-of-war played with a (poorly-behaved) dog, back and forth, give and take, just a fun game you both play. …However. At some point, a switch will flip in his head when he decides he’s your ride-or-die, full commitment and no more playing games about it. This could happen at basically any point, very early in your relationship or very late. He cannot tell you when it will flip, and nothing you do or don’t do will influence the flip, because neither he nor anyone else has any control over the switch. Such are the pitfalls of trying to romance a heavily-mindfucked former assassin, but you two will figure it out eventually.
Kohl (Descendtale Sans): It’s complicated. Honestly, he’s probably so deeply in denial that he’s into you that it’ll take a Category 5 Inciting Jealousy Incident to get his head out of his ass about it make him admit his feelings. He’s a bit of a pigtail-puller if he likes you, but he’s also a kind of a pigtail-puller if he doesn’t like you, so you’ll want to keep an eye out for the distinction of him seeking you out or spending time with you on purpose—he tends to remove himself from situations where humans are involved as soon as it’s feasible, so if he’s lingering around you, or coming to find you, or seeming to make a deliberate nuisance of himself as soon as someone else has your attention, he might be a little bit interested. If you’re not content to wait for him, you may need to do what he does and needle the hell out of him until you make him admit it but don’t do so lightly—he’s like a mousetrap, if you spring him, you’re stuck with him, he’s yours and good luck returning him without the receipt. In a relationship, he’ll keep up his hassling and assorted shithead behaviors, but there’s a softening towards you and he will actually be capable of some tender, intimate moments. …Some.
Bram (Descendtale Papyrus): Definitely making the first move and just enough of a gentleman to not come on too strong… At least not at first—it wouldn’t do to scare you away right off the bat! There might be some pitfalls a bit later on because he is probably going to want to move a little faster in the relationship than you do, even if you’re a fast mover yourself, but that’s just the abandonment issues talking. He’s very sweet and responds well to constructive criticism about his pacing issues, such as ‘It is too soon to talk about living together’ or ‘I’m not ready to get married until…’ Mostly his concern is that you are happy and comfortable and enjoy spending time with him! Because he enjoys spending time with you and he wants to be able to do that a lot! (You see? He said ‘a lot’ instead of ‘forever’ that time, he remembered when you said that sounded like ‘some horror movie shit’!) In any case, he’s very affectionate and accommodating in a relationship and with maybe some steps taken to mitigate the separation anxiety, he’s a loving and attentive partner for as long as you’ll have him.

Hi! I absolutely love your work! I'd like to request a Shobbs mpreg, where Deckard is almost 7 months and nesting? Cleaning the house, paying extra attention to Samantha, and maybe Luke finds the two of them curled up asleep?
Aww thank you!! 🥰 Ooooo!! This is an amazing image! This is what Deckard deserves
~~~
Soft, classical music drifted through the kitchen as Deckard continued to putter around.
He was wearing one of Luke's shirts and basketball shorts. When he had found out he was pregnant, he had splurged a bit on maternity dresses but when he was home alone, he enjoyed wearing Luke's clothes.
Luke joked that by the time they had another kid, he wouldn't have any clothes for himself.
At the moment, Deckard's belly was large, but not cumbersome. He couldn't stand as close to the counter as he was used to and he had long forgone wearing socks and shoes as often as he could.
Hard to admit, but he was getting frustrated at how difficult it was becoming to reach down and tie his shoes.
Other than the shoe issue and a bit of morning sickness, Deckard's pregnancy had been perfect.
The baby was healthy and was currently kicking up a storm.
"Settle down," Deckard smoothed, running a hand over his stomach. "Sammy will be home in a few minutes."
When Deckard had found out he was pregnant, he had been afraid Luke wouldn't want to co-parent with him. But, the man was always able to surprise him.
Instead, Luke had become one of the most doting partners Deckard had ever seen.
Luke had immediately suggested that Deckard move in; after all, Sam and he got along fabulous, and Owen was spending a lot more time in LA already. Hesitantly, Deckard had agreed.
Both he and Luke had agreed that since Deckard wouldn't be going on missions anymore, and he wasn't about to get a normal job, he'd become a stay at home parent.
At first, Deckard bristled. What would people think of him?
Secretly, he had been over the moon. Not only was he pregnant, but he was going to be able to take care of Sam as much as he wanted. He never would have imagined he would get the family he always wanted. The dream had felt so far away.
Pulling his hand away from his stomach, Deckard continued with cutting up fruits and vegetables.
After a few minutes, he heard the front door open.
"Deck! I'm home!"
"In here, Sammy!"
Practically skipping into the kitchen, Sam had a smile on her face as she settled on a stool across from him.
"You know you don't have to make me an after school snack, right Deck?"
"I'd rather you eat this than junk food," Deckard huffed good naturedly. Arranging the food, he slid it across from her. "How was school?"
A peaceful smile settled on Deckard's face as Sam excitedly told him all about her day. His hands rested on his stomach as the baby seemed to react to Sam's voice.
---
The sun had already set by the time Luke got home. He hated getting home so late, but with him taking paternity leave soon, his boss was jumping down his throat to finish as many cases as he could.
Sometimes it wasn't pleasant to be the best at his job.
Quietly opening the front door, Luke saw a few lights were on and could faintly hear the TV.
He made his way towards the living room and stopped in the doorway.
Sitting on the couch was Deckard and Sam. She was curled up against him, a hand resting on her stomach as they watched a movie.
Crossing his arms and leaning against the doorframe, Luke could only watch them in turn.
Luke had always known Deckard was very caring-- it was obvious in how he treated his siblings-- but when Deckard had moved in, Luke had truly seen who Deckard was.
He was meant to be a parent and homemaker.
Ever since he moved in, everything had become miraculously clean as if over night. And now with Deckard being closer to his due date, he was nearly obsessive with making the house perfect.
There had been many times when Luke had to physically pick Deckard up just to get him out of the nursery. Sometimes he would catch Deckard wide away in the middle of the night buying things for the baby.
Not to mention the way he absolutely spoiled Sam.
Luke couldn't wait to see how Deckard was with their baby.
"You just gonna stand there all night, jolly green?"
Shaking himself of his thoughts, Luke smiled as he pushed himself off of the doorframe.
"Didn't want to interrupt your bonding time."
"You're always welcome to cuddle with us, dad!" Sam told him cheerfully.
Smiling even wider, Luke sat on the other side of Sam, squishing her between them. She whined playfully but snuggled into him nonetheless.
Throwing his arm over the couch, he let his hand rest on the back of Deckard's neck. Deckard met his eyes and smiled gently.
"Welcome home, love."
~~~
I hope you enjoyed friend!

3: A pleasant discussion
Underground visitor, gn reader x monster (male drider). Sfw. Previous Next
You awake some time later, not exactly sure when given you still can’t tell the difference from your eyes being opened or closed. You fumble around blindly until your palm connects with the cool metal of your lantern. You wince at the contrast when you light it, your eyes previously adjusted to the abyssal gloom.
Everything seems still as you glance around the odd room, and you don't spot Dren anywhere. He must already be up and about, content to let you sleep.
You roll out from the hole in the ground and stretch, wincing as your muscles are a bit sore from both the 'roughhousing' last night, and the somewhat tough padding. You feel something sticking to your face and gingerly peel off a stray cobweb that has somehow lodged itself to your cheek as you slept.
"How long was I out?" you ponder quietly to yourself and stifle a yawn.
"Approximately 6 hours," Dren replies and you almost jump out of your skin. The voice came from above.
Surely enough, you look up to find Dren’s upper body poking out from a hole above the one you slept in, front spider legs casually resting on the edge.
"Please don't do that," you breathe. "I’m not awake enough for jumpscares."
"Apologies," Dren says. "What's a 'jumpscare'?"
You frown. "A scare so startling you jump, I guess."
"Do you have words for all of that? For example, if you're afraid and you hide, is it a 'hide-scare'? Or if you run, is it a 'run-scare'?" he asks, seemingly genuinely intrigued.
"No, that's not - hm. It's not, but maybe it should be."
"Maybe it should."
You're honestly too tired for wordplay right now, so you change the subject. "How do you tell the time down here without sunlight? Like, is it morning right now? I can't tell."
Dren cogs his head. "Oh, that's usually not necessary to think about."
You frown at him. "'Usually not necessary'?"
"Well, unless I have to go do trading and interact with the common-folk, they prefer doing exchanges with me at sunrise. Otherwise, no. I sleep when I'm tired, and wake when I'm not."
You suppose spending most of your time in pitch blackness would do that to a person.
"But - you can tell?" you press.
"I can. It is not yet sunrise."
"Then what am I doing up?" you groan, rubbing your eyes.
Dren laughs. "You're already adjusting."
You spend the early morning finding water to wash up some of the grime from yesterday’s escapades. You follow the stream as Dren explained to you, thankfully also illuminated so you can watch your step, lest you fall in. The stream comes from a small outcropping of rock that Dren has tunneled past, and he has since followed the source of the water to dig it out. There’s a smooth transition between the hard patterned soil and stone. The water is cold, but clean.
Feeling refreshed, you trek back to the living room.
Dren has actually lit the fireplace while you were at the stream, and it spreads a pleasant warmth in the room. You also notice he has taken the liberty of tying up your drenched clothes to dry in some silky threads hanging from the ceiling in front of it.
"I'm afraid I haven't much to offer, though I managed to scavenge some oats last night if you're hungry?" Dren offers, looking at you over his shoulder as you walk in.
You once again nod your thanks and soon you're settled on a sheepskin with a cup full of oatmeal. Dren's lounging across from you again fiddling with a piece of webbing.
"Are you not having anything?" you ask in between mouthfuls. It's very bland, but you should probably take what you can get here.
"Oh, I already ate, not to worry," Dren replies without looking up from the webbing in his hands.
You watch him fiddling for a moment, deftly weaving the silky thread between his fingers to no particular avail, and then somehow managing to uncoil the sticky threads again to start over. He always seem to keep his hands busy for some reason.
"Can I ask you something?"
He looks up. "Of course. Go ahead."
"You don't seem to have use for them really, so why do you have all these things like clothes, cups and stuff?" you ask, gesturing vaguely at yourself and the utensil in you hands. "How did you get them?"
"Trespassers," Dren shrugs.
"You stole their clothes?" you grin at the prospect.
He chuckles. "Ah, no. I killed them. Their clothes were just left behind."
You were about to lift a spoonful to your mouth though it remains resting in the cup as your hands lock up. You're subtly try to discern if he’s joking or not, though he appears pleasantly nonchalant as if it's the most reasonable thing on the planet, gently weaving the thread in his hands in and out. His lower body silently rubs its front legs together.
You glance over at the pile of neatly folded clothes in the corner, and suddenly the soft shirt currently keeping you warm itches a little bit.
That's a lot of trespassers.
Dren cogs his head at you and frowns in concern, sensing your unease. "Is something the matter?"
"It's just - I thought you said not a lot of people come down here?" you deflect, shoveling in another spoonful to avoid speaking lest your voice shakes and gives you away.
"Not a lot of guests," he corrects you gently. "Others intrude here once in a while. Mostly thieves, hunters or snatchers after my eggs."
You really don't want to talk about this anymore, but given you've just discovered you're in the same room as a cold-blooded murderer, you should probably do something to ensure yourself a little better. Dren has already assured you you're a guest, so that should mean you're safe, right?
Right. Again.
"Well, I should thank you for the hospitality," you say, politely changing the subject, "even after my intrusion."
Dren waves it off. "Think nothing of it. After all, I shouldn’t have made ill assumptions of your intentions while blinded by anger. Letting you stay is the least I can do. Besides-" he shifts, folding his legs to his sides and getting to a more comfortable sitting position. When he looks at you again the gaze is full of warmth. "It's been years since I've just sat down and had a pleasant discussion. I appreciate the company."
"..No problem," you say, clumsily.
You hadn't expected a heartfelt comment like that.
Well if he's having a good time it seems you're not leaving this world just yet. At least there's that.
"Years?" you ask, prompting him to elaborate to ease your tension. "What about family? Friends?"
"My kind tend to keep to themselves, mostly," he responds, once again twisting the webbing in his hands. "Especially from our own. We mostly only interact with our young, and whenever we pass by a potential mate. Even that is very brief and we go our separate ways as soon as we can."
"But then - how did you get your eggs?" you ask, but catch yourself. "Well, I shouldn't assume-"
"Oh," Dren grins. "You're fine. No, I cannot lie them myself. I had to fight their mother for custody because she wouldn't give them up."
You gape at him. "You fought her?"
Isn't that like. A whole thing, with female spiders being a lot bigger and meaner and very much into the whole widowy-business? Maybe it's different for driders. You briefly try and imagine a creature like Dren but larger and even more imposing. It's not pleasant.
"I was not confident she would look after them properly. I had to," Dren says, serious. "They are very vulnerable at this stage, they need to be protected. Taken care of."
"Well, then it's good you won. You obviously care about them a lot."
"I always do. These are my third brood," he smiles.
"You thought I had stolen your eggs," you realize, speaking somewhat cautiously in case that's a touchy subject. "Does that mean-?"
Dren’s smile falters as he looks away for a bit and sighs. "Yes. I- I have not been vigilant enough this time."
It’s odd seeing him so on edge on something like that, and yet being so indifferent to the lives of whoever enters here unbidden. He has killed, but he is also a parent. Perhaps killing is simply just viewed differently in this world. You don’t exactly know what to make of that.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought it up-" you start but he lifts a hand to stop you.
"No, it's alright. I've lost some along the way, but that's just how it is with these things. The ones who made it are roaming around somewhere in the world far from here. I take solace in knowing I could give most of them a good start," Dren says, though he's still clearly affected by it. He looks back to you, considering for a moment. "This time, though - I was starving. I had to go hunting. I was only gone for a few hours. But when I came back 8 of my 11 young were gone."
You cover your mouth in shock. You can't imagine what it must be like to lose 8 of your children. "Dren, that's horrible. I'm so sorry."
His lower body chitters as he rubs his face and huffs. "Thank you. It's very odd. I keep my eggs very well hidden within the system. I almost tore this place apart searching for them once I realized they were gone, but the thieves had somehow managed to navigate my tunnels and leave quicker than anyone ever has before them. I've lost one or two in scuffles before, sure, but they've never just vanished like that."
That is odd. But with such a big system, wouldn't there be lots of opportunities to hide? "Maybe they didn't leave while you were gone," you offer.
Dren looks at you. "What do you mean?"
"I mean - maybe they managed to remain hidden in your system while you were in here? And slip past you?"
You worry for a second if you've offended him as he frowns, but he purses his lips, mandibles moving a bit in thought. "They would have passed by my webs. I would have felt them moving about if we were here simultaneously. It's how I knew you were here."
"Webs?” you ask, perplexed. “Aren't they only on the ceiling?"
"You'd think so, wouldn't you?" Dren hums with a smile.
You frown and instinctively glance around on the floor, trying to spot any stray silky threads or cobwebs, but you really see nothing. It looks like just a well-kept and intricately carved-out dirt floor. Even if see-through, wouldn't the silky strands at least reflect the light of the fireplace or a lantern?
Unless..
"The carved patterns," you realize out loud, and look to him for confirmation. "They're not just for show, are they?"
"They also serve as very efficient deceivers of the eye," Dren nods, pleased. "Look at you uncovering all my secrets. You catch on quickly."
You guess that's pretty clever. Anyone who ventured in here would most likely assume the same, and not know the resident in this dwelling would know of their presence and location the second they ventured inside. A fatal mistake that, judging from the small pile of treasures in the corner, has been made many times.
But it's also a good point. You'd think with how quickly he sniffed you out he'd be breathing down the snatchers' necks too. They must how found some way to avoid setting anything off.
“But enough about all of that dreary business,” Dren says, stretching his arms above his head before settling back down and focusing on you. “Tell me of where you came from. I’m curious.”
“Well-”
You start vaguely, explaining briefly what you used to do back home, the area you lived in, general small talk stuff. Dren encourages you however, asking for details and elaborations, generally urging you to keep talking. It’s a little odd to be in the spotlight like that, and you try multiple times to stop and pass on the conversational baton, only to be politely handed it back. Eventually you’re in a full monologue about your home, your friends, your family, to the point where Dren can name your neighbor’s obnoxious dog that barks late at night.
Other than brief encouragements, Dren has stayed silent, just attentively taking in your every word.
“You can’t seriously be entertained by me yapping on anymore,” you laugh after a while. “I’ve been talking for a decade.”
“Quite the contrary,” Dren says. “This is a whole new world I’m hearing about. I’d be a fool to not try and learn more, now that I have the opportunity.”
“Well, I think that about covers it, though. So there you are, have a slice of my home life story.”
“Much obliged,” Dren nods. “I cannot even imagine – a world of only sentries and animals? And yet, you still fight each other?”
“Buddy, you have no idea,” you grouch.
“You do seem to have built quite the life for yourself back there. Do you miss it?” he asks.
You haven’t been gone for more than a day, though somehow, knowing that you can’t simply just go back makes the separation from what you know a little more intimidating. Your plan of waking up in a hospital bed has, after all, been thoroughly foiled by waking up in a fur-covered hole in the ground, so you surmise this might just be what you’re dealing with now.
Do you miss it? Or do you miss certainty in knowing what will come next?
“I think I’m experiencing some separation anxiety,” you snort, half joking, half serious.
Dren nods in understanding.
The morning hours pass by quickly with more pleasant chatting, comparing worlds and discussing habits and hobbies. You get along surprisingly well with Dren, you learn, as the conversation flows naturally and you find small things you have in common. He’s very easy to talk to with a somewhat dry sense of humor, and you soon find yourself somewhat at ease in his company – which is surprising, considering not an hour ago you learned the humanoid spider is also very much okay with murder. It’s a fact you have to remind yourself should probably not be taken too lightly, no matter how pleasant his company seems.
According to Dren, the storm is still raging outside, so for now, you're somewhat content to hunker down in the relative safety of the patterned walls.

A writer’s guide to forests: What is a forest and the senses
Found throughout the world, a forest is an environment in which trees are the dominant plant species. Forest can also be referred to as woods or woodland. Smaller areas dominated by trees are called grove, copse, or glade. Tree species can be monospecific or mixed. Though forests are a worldwide phenomena, they have their limits; high mountains and the extreme poles are too cold and have too little sunlight for trees to grow. The lack of water, extreme temperatures, and erosion by windblown sand and rocks mean that few, if any, trees grow in the desert. And most plants are unable to tolerate the high salinity found near the oceans. Plant and animal life can vary greatly. Tropical rainforests are biodiversity hotspots, while the boreal forests can be eerily quiet. Do your research and see what kinds of flora and fauna you can expect to find in the specific type of forest you are writing about. The details matter. Speaking of which…
One problem that writers that come from the city may have is that their forests feel empty. Everything seems quiet all the time, there is little to no variation in the environment. It just doesn’t seem natural. It is important to use the senses in order to engage the reader, or at the very least let them know you’ve done your homework. Here are some examples of what you may want to ask yourself:
Sight: See the trees? What kind are they? Evergreen? Deciduous? Are they all about the same size, or is there a mix of saplings and mature trees? Are there any clearings or open spaces? Are there undulations in the terrain due to a river valley, a ridge of hills, or a chain of mountains? Is this the tropics, or the Arctic? What kinds of animals are hiding in the shadows? Is there a clear line of sight or does the thick undergrowth swallow all but a few shafts of light? Where are the game trails, and what could have left those prints? Where do the trees end?
Sound- Do you hear the babble of a small stream? What about a raging river or a waterfall? Do branches gently sway or do trees creak and moan? The splash just now, the breaking of a branch underfoot, are they faint or nearby? Are there animals walking peacefully, or are they running frantically? Can you hear what you cannot see? An owl hidden in a hollow, squirrels running through the branches, frogs and assorted insects chirping during the spring and summer? And in the autumn, can you hear the nuts and leaves fall?
Touch- How does the cracked and fissured bark of an old oak feel compared to the smooth bark of a young birch? Is the ground stony, or soil? Has it rained recently, and if so, what consistency is the mud? What about moss, lichen, mushrooms? Is the river scalding hot or icy cold? What does the fur of a mink feel like? Are the rocks covered in plants? Is the grain corse or fine? Does the air feel dry, or overbearing humid? And is that stump fresh and hard, or wet and crumbly due to age and decay?
Smell- Is that the scent of rain on the air? How do the flowers smell? Sweet, repulsive, or is there no scent to them at all? Is the moisture of moss different to that of rain? Can you smell the pine needles, or the swamp gases? Is that the sea salt on the air? And that smell…not the most pleasant. Can it be scat or a partially eaten carcass? And can that be the smell of fire?
Taste- Some say the air has a taste. Fire is ashy, winter is cold and fresh. Dense jungles are stale and mildewy. But what of plants and animal flesh? How bitter is an acorn? How sweet is a wild strawberry? Does wood sorrel remind you of lemon? Is the fish clean or muddy? How gamy is venison? What minerals are in the water? Does it taste pure, metallic, or ‘bad enough to be healthy’?

HmM!! 😤 These Dom Nick hcs are lighting a fire under me!!! (ง'̀u'́)ง i wanna pamper him SO badly in whatever AU! Im not sure whose the weakest, maybe hybrid nick bc he's lonely or soft but my MCs gonna take the whole day to spoil him rotten, if he so much as tries to lift a finger she's kissing him and lowering it back down. Itll be a random day of the week, no birthday no holiday, just a full breakfast spread, then the most expensive home spa day evah! (While ignoring his questions of 'why?' Why not huh??)
The best bath bombs and scrubs, face masks, shampooing his hair gently, mani and pedi, some cold champagne and some ice to cool him down, since he'll be in the bath so long, but then definitely a deep tissue full body massage (and/or preening if he's hybrid nick) with his favorite show playing a marathon, with more snacks, before his favorite dinner of course.
lots of kisses and the tenderest 'I love you's' but he absolutely cannot do anything in return, i might even spoonfeed him everything from breakfast to dessert,
After the massage and the preening, its time to make him messy again 😔 gotta eat him out, suck him, and ride him gently til he cums idc how many times, before cleaning him up all over again
I want him to turn to jelly, I'll check off every self-care/sub bucketlist item he has, he's my MCs perfect little doll for the day. Will he squirm? beg? Melt into a puddle? My MC doesnt know but her goal is to turn a professional dom into a spoiled pillow princess like Jean who doesn't know wat 'unloved' even is (<- mc nor OP knows wat bdsm or professional sex work entails really, but got a spa day as a birthday gift once and couldve sworn they were princess diana)
(And pls know between the two of u who know bdsm im taking notes with focuS so thank u)
And there will be smugness once he finally falls asleep, my mc is the evillest and most domness boss! this is probably wat it means to be King of the doms maybe! Take that mr "professional!" Hope ur skin is smooth and ur hair/feathers are shinier than its ever been, i hope the dreams r pleasant with Imported Lavender infused pillows! Thats right, its expenSive! For NO reason. There are No take backs or exchanges either, only store credit buddy
>:3c Consider that a warning for the both of yous for givin my brain these zoomies!
🖤 nonny
We are shaking hands and making out sloppy style over pampering Nick right now, oh my god dude
Especially if it's hybrid Nick, like, he's so used to having to be strong and independent and being thrown out when he wasn't being dommy enough that this shit might just kill him. He's such an eepy boy too. My guy gets migraines whenever the weather changes so he's just used to pushing through that pain and tiredness you get after it leaves
But you? Pampering him? Not allowing him to move and making him take the rest he deserves? It's his dream come true, there's nothing fucking better than this for him. Now, he will try to fight you on it at first, but just cup his head in your hands and tell him how much you love him and want to take care of him and he'll slip right into his sub space
He doesn't like surprises, at all, even the good ones, so please tell him about all of this in advance. He plans out his weeks and if he finds out about a change in his schedule less than 48 hours in advance he's going to have a shutdown
God this whole thing is so good, I love pampering pieces like this. Your mind dude, I am kissing it directly on it's cute little wrinkles

Prompts for ordinary things that feel intimate
@thehazbins sent: [ swipe ] sender notices a smudge of something on receiver's face and gently wipes it off ( Rosie @ Alastor )
Tumblr media
Alastor had always taken pride in his self-control. Back when he was alive and even more once he had crossed the doors of the afterlife. He showed only what he wanted and chose to show, hiding most emotions behind that ever-present, too wide smile that occupied his face, no matter what.
The perfect mask, able to conceal of the sort of secrets from the outside world.
Unfortunately, that didn't always apply to his own mind. While he could keep his facade for everyone to be fooled, when it came to deceive himself, things were much more complicated. Iron-cast self-discipline could only lead you so far.
In all truth, that hadn't been a much problem for the most. The Overlord had never had a too hard time repressing his thoughts, sentiments, urges. It took a little extra effort here, a small, planned slip-up there. All calculated risks taken consciously.
Yet, everything had changed when he had found himself chained down into a deal, with no escape or loophole in sight. What had led and locked him in such a cage, he couldn't have said. Had it been pride, had it been foolishness, had it been arrogance? Perhaps all of that. Maybe something else entirely. What was certain was that this was completely, infuriatingly out of his control.
Every time his thoughts wandered in that direction, every time his mind struggled and failed to wrap around the ordeal to find a possible solution, a potential escape route, he got lost in his head. No matter where he was, no matter what he had been doing. Reality disappeared, against his will, and the Radio Demon found himself sucked into a black hole of his own making.
And that was where he was when Rosie's napkin found the side of his face, just right next to the corner of his mouth. A brief, soft touch that, however, came unexpected and caused Alastor to jerk back violently.
Bright red eyes grew wide, teeth clenching hard to make his smile as fake and forced as it could be. His claws sank into the smooth surface of the table, leaving marks as he reeled away, pushing his chair backwards. An unmistakable reaction, betraying very specific emotions. Fear and repulsion.
The Overlord's gaze dashed around, taking in his surroundings, remembering where he was and why. At Rosie's. Having a spot of lunch. A delicious set of small courses she had prepared just for the two of them.
A pleasant meeting with his treasured friend and that was how he acted? How embarrassing.
Tumblr media
"Oh my! Apologies, my dear. You startled me," he hurried to say, trying to cover up his inner turmoil with some light humour. "I really don't know where my head went!" Liar. "I suppose that I have plenty of my mind these days. So much to do, so much to plan, so much to direct. You can surely understand."
He reached out to touch the spot of his face that she had tried to wipe, brushing off the little hint of blood her napkin hadn't had the chance to wipe clean.
"Ah, thank you for that. I know my manners, but I've been a messy eater far too often lately. Bad habits tend to stick more than good ones, I'm afraid."

okaeeeee i have a barely baked (read: doughy phase) thought. this is tmi but i shaved my bush a few days ago (i shave like once a season or whenever the hair is too much of a hassle, whichever comes first) and i found myself like petting my cooch just absentmindedly?? and i’d be taken aback every time because my first thought would be like “whoa! soft!” then that let me to think about yuuji (or maybe other characters, idk! ace? zoro?) and how they would react to the bush suddenly being gone with no warning. maybe it would be shock morphing into delight? like :o -> :D? or :o -> >:D? because obv i think all our faves love body hair and bush, but on the rare occasion that it’s gone, it’s like a perfect opportunity for admiring the smooth skin before it inevitably becomes prickly as fuck LOL
if you have any spare thoughts or would like to expand on this, please do. i trust you to cook with my subpar ingredients hahaha (also just fyi i have shaving but the few days where it’s baby smooth, and then the week or so of perfect bush where it’s not too long and it’s trimmed really nicely, that’s what i look forward to tbh)
meph it’s so funny that you just shaved a few days ago bc i did, too! i grew out the full bush and it was entirely too much hair… difficult to clean… in the way of everything… etc. etc. anyway i started trimming but then it got really itchy so i shaved it all off. i’m pro body hair and HATE shaving with a passion; my skin is ultra sensitive and i always get razor burn even though i’m super careful. but i weathered through bc i couldn’t put up with the itchies:-( and i was like damn! i feel so light and airy. but now it’s all stubbly; i eagerly await my perfectly manicured bush LOL
and i agree: all the faves are PRO BODY HAIR because they love you for you—isn’t it great to be comfortable and natural? but some are freaks (read: zoro) and have insane scent kinks and prefer pubic hair because it enhances the experience so to say… but i will say that it’s a pleasant surprise when they get to see your pussy! because when it’s a jungle down there it can be hard to get the hair out of the way. they can see your clit and folds and hole without holding hair back!!! expect them to just stare at your bare pussy for an hour. and i definitely think some of them (read: zoro, again) would love to rest their face on it and take a nice, soft snooze. actually that would be great for ace, too! in case he falls asleep while eating you out and doesn’t wake up with hair down his throat. and YUUJI <3 he loves soft spots and will neglect your clit entirely too much (fuckin’ tease) to enjoy your smooth skin.
also your ingredients aren’t subpar at all—i have nothing new to add! that was all you, boo <3

tripleS +(KR)ystal Eyes <AESTHETIC> - Album Review
Tumblr media
-- image: Let's GO News --
tripleS, MODHAUS Entertainment’s first kpop group. The label, founded and operated by LOONA’s former creative director and music producer Jaden Jeong, aims to “launch the world’s first kpop artist made and operated by its fans.” A whopping 24 members make up four subunits of tripleS: Acid Angel from Asia, EVOLution, LOVElution, and +(KR)ystal Eyes. As of May 2023, only AAA and +(KR)ystal Eyes have debuted yet, with the latter’s debut mini-album <AESTHETIC> having been released on May 4th. Admittedly, I know very little about tripleS but as an Orbit I’m hoping that Jaden will put some LOONA in them, but I’ll have to see.
I’ll listen to each song 3 times and rate them afterward. Each song will be rated on a scale of 1-10 with 5 being completely neutral, 1 being my least favorite song, and 10 being the best songs ever. Please take my rating with a grain of salt, my goal is to be honest, no hate :)
Cherry 100% - 7
Incredible sound design. The attention to detail in the contrast in frequencies between the chimes, synths, and electric bass is applause-worthy. This reminds me a lot of Odd Eye Circle and [X X], both of which were Jaden’s work. Certainly a great intro track.
Cherry Talk - 8
None of the magical production from Cherry 100% was lost in this song. Absolutely beautiful instrumentation. When the vocals come in, the energy of the song switches to be a little more fun and upbeat, think WOW (LOONA) and verse 1 from Attention (NewJeans). The sounds and textures continue to build into the chorus, but melodically it feels like the song could use a bit more direction. It feels like more of a gem b-side than the title track it’s labeled, but I’m generally known to be a sucker for a great b-side. I haven’t said anything about vocals yet, but they’re all light and smooth. The songwriting isn’t keeping me on my toes necessarily but the production is just so incredible it doesn’t matter.
Touch - 4
A smooth sparkly pop-R&B track, with a bit of a retro feel. It feels like this song is trying to accomplish the sort of sound of Everyday I Love You, LOONA ViVi’s solo title track. What a coincidence that everything sounds like early LOONA… Unfortunately the vocals in Touch aren’t hitting the same mark. You’ll find this is a typical criticism from me, but there is excessive and audible use of autotune throughout much of the song. Despite the vocals being a bit lacking, this song has a fun dreamy sound that I enjoy.
Hide & Seek - 5
More power, less pretty! Well, it’s still pretty, but the drums and bass push this song along in a more upbeat groove. Like Touch, this song also has somewhat noticeable vocal issues, but unlike Touch, they don’t distract from the hype vibe of this song. It’s one of those songs that you just have to bop to, even the first time hearing it. It lacks some direction, giving it a sort of “aimless” feeling though. No strong feelings either way from me here.
Deja-Vu - 7.5
Muted guitars and smooth percussion make for a very unique and smooth backing to this track. It’s just as mellow as the rest, but it’s tight in a way that makes it feel clean and powerful. Very pleasant and satisfying to listen to. The production and songwriting work together here much better than the other songs. There are more vocal problems, but generally they blend into the song just fine.
Dimension (KRE Ver.) - 7.5
The radio distortion at the beginning helps cement that sort of retro sound to this EP. The percussion on this song is quite varied and unique. This song certainly feels very production forward, but I don’t mind at all. I generally like a more even blend of vocals and music anyways. After listening to the AAA version of this song, I actually think that KRE does it better. The KRE version is more stripped down and subdued, but packs a considerable punch. This song utilizes all of the uniqueness of the production on this album, but doesn’t overuse it. It feels effortless. Love it!
Final Thoughts
This was a really interesting experience for me. I was correct in my prediction that there would be similarities to Jaden-era LOONA. I really loved the complex synth driven production combined with soft aesthetic vocals, just like the title of the mini-album. I still know very little about tripleS, but now I know a little more. I would have to say my overall favorite song on this album is the title track, Cherry Talk. I believe it best demonstrates the strengths of this group. I give this album an overall score of 6.5. Unique, immersive, and dynamic. I’m excited to see what’s next for tripleS! Thank you for reading! Let me know what you think about tripleS and this album!

2. The Top Ten Cupboard Door Knobs to Consider
Choosing the perfect cupboard door knobs can be an enjoyable aspect of any home renovation project. Here are ten popular and attractive solutions to suit a variety of tastes and interiors:
1. Classic Round Knobs.
Round knobs are a timeless, traditional choice that complements any kitchen or bathroom. Their smooth, curved form makes them straightforward to use and adds a simple, elegant touch to cabinetry. These knobs come in a variety of materials, including brushed nickel, brass, and ceramic, making them suitable for any decor.
2. Square or rectangular knobs
Square and rectangular knobs are ideal for achieving a more modern and clean look. Their geometric shape provides a sleek appeal that complements contemporary and minimalist décor. These knobs are commonly available in polished metals such as chrome or in matte finishes such as satin nickel.
3. Glass or crystal knobs.
If you want to give your cabinets a vintage or rich look, glass or crystal knobs provide a touch of flair. They reflect light beautifully and are an excellent way to make a statement in your kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom. These knobs perform especially nicely in rooms with antique or classic furniture.
4. Ceramic knobs.
Ceramic cabinet door knobs are available in a range of designs, including colorful, hand-painted patterns and clean white finishes. 6. Stainless Steel Knobs

Stainless steel knobs, known for their durability and resistance to corrosion, are ideal for high-moisture environments such as kitchens and baths. They're simple to maintain and give a sleek, contemporary appearance.
7. Crystal Effect Knobs
If you like the beauty of crystal but want a less expensive solution, crystal-effect cupboard door knobs are a wonderful choice. These knobs have the appearance of glass or crystal but are composed of cheaper materials, providing a classy look without the hefty price tag.
8. Vintage-style knobs.
Vintage-style cupboard knobs can add a touch of nostalgia to a room. These knobs often feature intricate patterns, floral embellishments, or distinctive finishes such as old brass or copper. They bring uniqueness and appeal to classic or rustic settings.
9. Leather knobs

10. Minimalist knobs
Minimalist cabinet door knobs provide a clean, unobtrusive design that complements modern decor. High-quality metal finishes like matte black, brushed nickel, or chrome typically construct these knobs, offering refinement without drawing too much attention.
3. How to Select the Best Cupboard Door Knobs
Now that you've seen the top cupboard door knob styles, how do you pick the finest one for your space? Here are a few guidelines to assist you in making your decision:
1. Consider your room's style.
The style of your cupboard knobs should complement the overall look of the area. For a modern kitchen, choose sleek stainless steel or minimalist knobs. Consider elegant porcelain or crystal knobs when furnishing a vintage-inspired bathroom.
2. Think about durability.
Choose knobs made of robust materials that will withstand repeated use, particularly in kitchens and bathrooms where moisture and heat are common. Brass, stainless steel, and solid wood are all excellent materials for long-term durability.
3. Match the finish with the other hardware.
If your kitchen or bathroom has other metallic hardware, such as faucets or light fixtures, make sure your cabinet door knobs match or complement the finishes. Consistency in hardware coatings offers a uniform appearance throughout the area.
4. Concentrate on functionality.
While appearance is important, the knobs should be practical. Choose knobs that are easy to hold and comfortable to operate. Consider larger, ergonomic pulls or handles to improve grip on larger cabinets or drawers.
5. Check the knob's feel.
If feasible, go to a showroom or retail store and personally evaluate how the knobs feel in your palm. A knob that is either too little or too big for your grasp can become difficult to use over time. Choose something that feels robust and functional while still looking elegant.
4. Where to use cupboard door knobs.
Despite their common use in kitchens and bathrooms, cabinet door knobs can enhance other storage areas throughout the home. Here are some excellent places to install cupboard knobs:
• Upgrade kitchen cabinets, drawers, and pantry doors with elegant knobs that complement the decor.
• Decorate bathroom vanities, medicine cabinets, and linen closets with ornate knobs for an elegant look.
• Refresh your closet or dresser with trendy or humorous knobs.
• Add elegant knobs to storage items in your living room to match the motif.
5. Conclusion.
Cupboard door knobs are more than simply practical hardware; they are a key component of your home's design. By choosing the proper cupboard knobs, you can improve the style of your home, make your cabinets more useful, and assure long-lasting durability. Whether you want a classic round knob, a sleek stainless steel pull, or a striking vintage design, there is a cupboard knob for every taste and area.
Take the time to select the best knobs to suit your cabinets and improve the overall appearance of your area. A minor improvement can help your home feel more polished, coherent, and elegant.
Case Study 1: A Modern Kitchen Transformation.
The Challenge: A family was upgrading their kitchen to make it more modern and useful. The kitchen featured old, worn-out cabinet doors with outdated knobs, making it appear drab and uninviting. The client desired a sleek, contemporary appearance without having to fully replace their cabinets.
The interior designer suggested replacing the cupboard door knobs with minimalist matte black knobs to match the modern look. The choice was taken to employ circular knobs with a smooth surface for simplicity of usage and a modern appearance. Stainless steel handles were added to larger drawers to improve functionality and make the area feel more coherent.
Outcome: The makeover was impressive. The new matte black knobs blended in perfectly with the elegant cabinets and neutral color palette. The basic design gave off a contemporary air, while the stainless steel pulls added to the modern utility. The end effect was a place that felt elegant, pleasant, and significantly more utilitarian. The homeowners were overjoyed with the convenience of use and the new, updated appearance without the need for a complete kitchen remodel.
Case Study 2: Remodeling a Vintage Bathroom.
The Challenge: A homeowner wanted to update their vintage-style bathroom with antique fixtures and a timeless design. However, the corroded previous cupboard door handles clashed with the new bathroom decor, giving the area a disjointed and worn feel. The idea was to maintain the old charm while modernizing certain components.
The designer suggested replacing the old knobs with vintage-inspired crystal knobs, preserving the bathroom's old-world charm while adding elegance. The designer chose the crystal knobs for their timeless appeal and their ability to reflect light, thereby adding a sense of elegance. The cabinet knobs included elaborate craftsmanship that complemented the original antique mirrors and fittings.
The new crystal knobs achieved a wonderful blend of old beauty and modern brightness. They become the focal point of the bathroom, captivating the eye but still matching the room's historic design. The homeowner was pleased with how the knobs improved the overall look of the bathroom, providing a balance of functionality and sophistication. The renovation was done on schedule and within budget, and the new knobs turned the bathroom into a fashionable and comfortable area.

30 kilo striped marlin
My 6 am taxi was a no show, but got a flag stop up at the highway down to Playa principal to catch the boat. Just light at 6:30, stiff Easterly breeze, warm and pleasant. The very nice panga is driven by Leo and he brings a deckhand to do the work. With Brian from Pender harbour, Andre from Montreal and of course my buddy Tortuga(aka jimmy) we zoomed out 10 miles to fish. Choppy but only a small groundswell and full sun by 7 am. Nothing usually happens right away and indeed we waited an hour for the first fish. Jimmy hooked a nice sailfish(10 kilos,6 meters long) and handed off to Andre when winded. The sailfish jump a lot so it,s exciting to see. Boating the fish is done by the crew who put on gloves, grasp the fish beak alongside , let them thrash a bit ,then hoist the whole fish inboard and let it expire on the side deck.
Taking turns we had time for bag lunches(brian drank beer instead) and banter. Makes fishing more fun, and I got caught up on Jimmys adventures over the winter. Sold all his boats! After 27 years staying at the YuriMar hotel he and Tracy will upgrade into a Calle Morro palace for January. The Yuri Mar(dump right by the 4 lane highway) has started bringing in bus loads of Mexicans with screaming kids thrashing in the tiny pool till all hours.
Fishing here is very different from home. The panga runs 6 rods on outriggers, and the baited hootchies a re splashing on the surface just 60 feet behind the boat which is zooming along at 5knots(6mph). The skipper looks for current lines where bait gather, or trash floating which gives cover for the bait fish and a feeding zone for the predators. Fish hit hard, hooking themselves and running off a lot of line.This gives the crew time to pull in the other lines and the guest a chance to jump into the fighting chair. The big Penn deep sea reels are loaded with lots of high test line and everything was top shape.
My turn to fish, and a striped Marlin(there are 6 kinds) ripped off 110 meters fast. Plunked into the chair, grabbed the stiff rod and held on! Oddly enough another marlin started jumping 100 feet away from the boat while mine went west. I,ve reeled in a lot of fish but this was one of the hardest, giving no ground just pulling strong. Salmon come up after a while, and Halibut go down but rise easily once their heads are turned upwards. Not Marlin. No jumping just a powerful pulling resistance. It took me 20 minutes of supreme effort, giving it my all to gain line enough to boat the fish and even then he ran from the boat at the last minute. I seriously contemplated handing off the rod to a younger guy, but pride kept me at it. Once the skipper grasped the beak he let the fish thrash against the hull to tire it ,then in one smooth lift hauled it inboard. I was beat and happy. 30 kilos, 7 feet long , a powerhouse of pure muscle. My muscles were done and my left arm which held the weight still feels weak a day later. Back muscles, butt bones, neck stiff, and generally aching all over! Fishing is fun! That,s the biggest fish I,ve ever caught.
We caught another small sailfish, and released it,then after a few good bait stripping hits we trolled towards town. Jimmy was hoping for Dorado, best eating, but the long liners have got them, and Russian trawlers and factory ships have stripped the coast of tuna. All illegal, zero enforcement. Saw federal truck with a bumper sticker : report illegal fishing 1 800...) Ha! They probably transport he catch for the pirates. We were back at the beach by 11:30 from a 6 :30 start, which was enough pitching and rolling exercise for a day.
So... Everybody got to play a fish, we all had a good time, and the price was right given Jimmys bargaining skills. 1000 pesos each plus tip and fish cleaning, my cost was $100 canadian. Probably cheaper to buy it, but the experience is well worth the cost, and it,s fresh. After sharing out the meat I took home 15 pounds, 10 of Marlin ,5 of sailfish. The fish cleaning lady, (there a re several) with shady cleaning table right at the boat landing tried to charge us 300 pesos per fish, but our captain dealt her down to 150. Very expert, fast and no waste, with roll bags provided. By the time the skin, guts and fins, head and tail are chopped off the yield is perhaps 50% flesh. They'll cut the meat down to paper thin filets , the local choice, but we wanted chunks. With a fish as big as me and just as thick, there,s some chunks. My freezer filled with portions ,using every bag i had,, and I gave fish away to the neighbours,(it,s good luck and good neighbourly policy). The meat is red, firm and not fishy, more like meat. I prefer to poach fish as that drives off the fat and leaves a tasty slab. Put fish in pot , cover with cold water, lid on and full flame till it boils. Done! I ate my fill, and the stray cat ate scraps till she fell over, still meowling . I,ve enough fish for a month when I'll look up Jimmy and go again. No guarantee of catching, but jimmy is lucky and we,ve done well in the past.

Themes in Modular Kitchen Design
Choosing a theme for your smart kitchen is a vital part of the design process. The theme establishes the tone for the overall appearance and feel of the kitchen, influencing everything from the color palette to the materials utilized. Here are some common themes to consider:
1. Contemporary
A modern modular kitchen design is distinguished by its clean lines, minimalistic elements, and emphasis on functionality. It frequently features handleless cabinets, integrated appliances, and a monochrome color scheme with dramatic accents. Materials such as stainless steel, glass, and high-gloss finishes are frequently employed to achieve a clean and modern appearance.
2. Traditional
A traditional modular kitchen design may be ideal for individuals who like a more classic look. Ornate cabinet designs, rich wood treatments, and elaborate moldings are common aspects in this genre. Warm hues and natural materials like wood and stone are predominant in the kitchen, creating a pleasant and inviting ambiance.
3. Rustic
Rustic modular kitchens bring a touch of the countryside into the home. This theme is characterized by the use of natural materials, such as reclaimed wood, stone, and brick. Open shelving, farmhouse sinks, and vintage fixtures are common elements, creating a warm and homely environment that is both charming and functional.
4. Industrial
An industrial modular kitchen design includes raw and unpolished materials. Consider exposed brick walls, metal surfaces, and industrial lighting. This style frequently uses a variety of textures and materials, such as concrete worktops, stainless steel equipment, and reclaimed wood, to give the kitchen an edgy and modern appearance.
5. Scandinavian
Scandinavian design is noted for its simplicity, functionality, and emphasis on natural lighting. A Scandinavian modular kitchen design often has light-colored cabinetry, open storage, and simple hardware. Natural elements, such as wood and stone, are combined with a neutral color palette to produce a light, spacious, and welcome environment.
Design Elements of a Modular Kitchen
When planning a modular kitchen, several key design elements need to be considered to ensure the space is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
1. Layout
The layout of your kitchen is crucial for optimizing space and ensuring smooth workflow. Common kitchen layouts include:
L-Shaped: This plan is ideal for compact rooms since it provides plenty of counter space and allows for quick access to cooking, cleaning, and storage areas. U-Shaped: Perfect for larger kitchens, the U-shaped layout offers extensive counter space and storage, making it easy to access all areas of the modular kitchen design. Island: An island layout provides more counter space and storage in the center of the kitchen. It can also be used as a dining room or a space for informal meetings. Galley: A galley plan has two parallel worktops, which maximizes productivity in a small space. It's great for kitchens with little space.
2. Storage Solutions
Effective storage is a hallmark of smart kitchen design. Consider incorporating the following storage solutions:
Pull-Out Cabinets: These cabinets make it easy to access items stored at the back. Corner Units: Utilize corner spaces with rotating shelves or pull-out trays. Overhead Cabinets: Maximize vertical space by installing cabinets that reach the ceiling. Drawer Organizers: Organize utensils and small items with customisable drawer dividers.
3. Materials and Finishes
Choosing the proper materials and finishes is critical to the longevity and aesthetics of your modular kitchen design. Common materials used in smart kitchens are:
Cabinetry: MDF (Medium-Density Fiberboard), HDF (High-Density Fiberboard), and plywood are popular materials due to their strength and versatility. Countertops: Options range from granite and quartz to laminate and solid surface materials. Backsplash: Tiles, glass, and stainless steel are common materials that can provide both design and protection for your kitchen walls.
4. Lighting
Proper lighting improves both the functionality and ambiance of your kitchen. To create a well-lit and inviting space, use a blend of task, ambient, and accent lighting.
Task Lighting: Focuses on areas where specific tasks are performed, such as under-cabinet lights for countertops. Ambient Lighting: Provides overall illumination, often through ceiling fixtures or recessed lights. Accent Lighting: Highlights specific features or areas, like pendant lights over an island or LED strips inside cabinets.
5. Appliances
Choosing the correct equipment is critical to the effectiveness of your smart kitchen. Built-in appliances, such as ovens, microwaves, and dishwashers, can be easily integrated into the cabinetry, resulting in a consistent appearance. Energy-efficient appliances are also a good option for lowering power bills and decreasing environmental impact.
Conclusion
Modular kitchen design represents the perfect blend of functionality, style, and convenience. Understanding the many themes and design components allows you to construct a kitchen that not only satisfies your functional demands but also reflects your unique style. Whether you prefer the clean style of a contemporary kitchen or the warm feel of a rustic one, a modular kitchen provides the flexibility and customization options you need to create your ideal kitchen.
