thinking about how ACTUAL tv from the 70s/80s often did Very Special Episodes where they engaged with racism and the civil rights movement. either with a Black cast or by making their white "everyfamily" characters deal address racism and "uncomfortable" topics

but obviously wandavision, with a white gentile woman playing a Jewish Romani character, wouldn't touch that 🙃

So i noticed a lot of people still have the weird idea that most anime\manga characters are actually white. This sort of highlights a diference in perception to me: The japanese look to subtle facial-features & bone structure. Asian characters have small noses and mouths, high cheek bones, almond-shaped eyes that point diagonally. The art-style simply exagerates these features and changes color. Whould you say The Simpsons dont look white?

The Simpsons were designed to be purposefully without any nationality. They are bright, primary yellow for the same reason that Lego minifigures are; so that they aren’t culturally or ethnically exclusive. The idea behind giving the Simpsons bright yellow skin was that they would be relatable to more people, and therefor easier to write as the “everyfamily” that they were always intended to represent.

Regardless of facial structure, most anime characters are drawn with a lighter complexion than, say, an actor who might play them in an accurate adaptation. And considering how stylistic some anime/manga is, and how poorly adapted most anime are when brought to the west, I can completely understand why some people would mistake the characters for white.

Look at Katsuya Jonouchi from Yu-Gi-Oh! for example. He looks white enough that fans still debate that his horrible accent in the dub is actually appropriate. That doesn’t mean that he is white, but he is white-looking enough that a studio was able to take advantage of that to erase the character’s heritage.

So, in short, for many different reasons, I can completely understand why some viewers would be surprised to learn that some anime/manga characters are not supposed to be white. I think it’s weird, because I know the truth, but I can still understand.

Simon was quiet, feeling his hand play with hos fur caused him to lean down a little for Humphrey to reach it better.

"..They abused me. My uncle abused me. Everyone did" he mumbled before he slowly yet heavily sat down onto the wood. " It was all good..back then when I was merely 10 years old. The time my sister was already 5 years... my father used to hit me, push me around..make me do everything to make him see that I'm a man and not a child. Each time I was sent to Ilvemorny they would leave and make me stay with my..uncle.. since my parents didn't like me staying in Ilvemorny I had to go each night to my uncle when I was finally already around 13? 14?..I don't even remember the days the man strangled me....used me.." he held his head

" I wish I..I could murder them all over again..and again.." he huffed as he tried to calm down.

"..Even..after it was found out that I grew...a sickness.. encephalitis.. they didn't care about my conditions... about..everything that happened to me.... just when I got to the age of..idk..something around 23..I..couldn't take it anymore....It was the day everyfamily member of the Laurent's were invited....and..I used my chance...to burn this place down..and lock everything so everyone would suffocate..."

A late evening crossed over the quiet streets of this city with it’s dirty truths behind every corner of their alleys. Bugs would fly up the streetlights to surround it like some drug before some would eventually fall off or fly away or just stay.

Splash Splash from left and right as a soft shine of rain shivered down onto the streets. Simon Laurent ran , stumbling from time to time with his limping leg while blood splattered onto the ground each time he moved. His messy brown curled hair covering his vision as he made a left from the quiet streets which yet covered multiple foot steps further behind the blood covered man. Grunts and loud breathings escaped the bloddy man as he quickly hid behind a concrete wall. His right arm leaned onto his abdomen which covered up his hand with his own cold red blood. Who knows how long he’d be able to stay up before passing out eventually before dieing. He wouldn’t mind it. He had nothing left in his life. He groaned as he leaned over, grunting as some more blood left his body, he quickly held his mouth shut with his left hand as he heard people.

“Where did that beast go!?” A quiet grumpy scratching voice said to someone.

“Do I look like I know?! Fucking follow the blood!” He said.

Simon tried not to move. Only to hear something which immediatly caused him to run.

“Over there!” Another guy said as they shot at Simon with silver bullets.

Simon let off a yelp as he felt another bullet shoot through his hip. He stumbled, nearly falling to ground. He had to do something. Those hunters wouldn’t leave him alone. He held his hips, trying his strengh to move . He had to change and kill them.

Simon was about to stumble before his body shifted. His back filling up fur as his already blood colored cloths ripped apart as the fur and cracking bones grow around him. Cracks here and there as the man’s size grew , a skull covering where his head should be screetched at all 3 as he used his last power to slash them with his claw while grabbing the second to bite off their head. The 3rd getting a sudden slash by his tail before Simon grabbed him and threw him .

The beasr he was groaned with multiple gasps as blood dripped out from his open ripcage, his fur beeing tainted in a dark red from all he lost. His body stumbled as it fell infront a door. To keep his last strengh inside his body changed it’s size to a lightly taller size than a human yet smaller than his wendigo size. His body still covering some fur of his body around his neck area . Whar was now infront of the door looked more like a human with a wolf skull and some fur covering the naked bloodied body.
