Tasty lil’ iPhone panorama out the window of a dusty land-cruiser along a 16 hour drive on some of the worst roads you have ever seen. These incredible towering mountains form the northern border of the rugged North East region of Afghanistan, epic sentinels this beautiful landscape. #Badakhshan #Afghanistan Photo & words by Jonathan Hane @jhane7. #everydayafghanistan #nature #landscape #everydayeverywhere #naturephotography #photographer #environment #beautiful #everydayasia #beautifuldestinations #everydaybadakhshan #photojournalist #lake #mountain (at Afghanistan) https://www.instagram.com/p/CeQ4_HKtskw/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Leaving out Badakhshan or Takhar of your list while your visit to the north of Afghanistan, is assumed as you have never been to the north. This perception is customary among northerners or anyone with the same experience. Not only is this province culturally and traditionally rich with a diverse taste for food, clothing and music, but its unique geographic characteristics are unparalleled with the rest of the country as seen in these photos: 1. Jaamrich Village, Darvaz district; inhabitants of this place are mostly Ismaili. They speak Shughni as their first language, but villagers also have access to Farsi. 2. Akhtro village and Amu Darya, Shughnan district. 3. Aarikh River, Shughnan district. This stream separates Afghanistan from Tajikistan. 4. Amu Darya, Shughnan district. 5. Aarick River, Shughnan district. 6. Choosh Dara, Sarshakh valley, Ishkashim district. 7. Lower Jaamrich village, Darvaz district. 8. Nawi village, Amu Darya, Ishkashim district. Afghanistan is not often included in countries with wildlife preservations throughout the years, however Badakhshan, regardless of its dramatic and unpredictable climate conditions, is home for the most rarely seen species such as mammals, carnivores, Marco Polo Sheep, snow leopard and mountain monarchs. #Badakhshan #Afghanistan Photos by Atif Aryan @atif.aryan1. #everydayafghanistan #nature #wildlife #photography #everydayeveywhere #photojournalist #afghan #photographer #naturephotography #villagelife #village #calm #agriculture #amudarya #tajikistan #farsi #everydaybadakhshan #mobilephotography #everydayasia (at Badakhshan Province) https://www.instagram.com/p/CeECUrFtUgf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

(3/7) Mohammadullah and his wife live with their five children in a house which he has built himself in Payanshahr village in Badakhshan Province.

“All we have is here, around us, we don’t have any other things,” he says gesturing to the small room. At the center is a Sandali Stove, a popular heating method during the winter. Beside the Sandali stove are two toshak cushions.

“I am a labourer and during the winter we are always jobless because it is in the summer that people need workers,” says Mohammadullah. “We haven't got anything to eat, or for my life or for my children's education. We don't have anything and we don't have access to anything.”

“Sometimes I will find work in this village and sometimes I go to the center of the province. At the end of this month I will try to start my labour work again. Sometimes I work in buildings and sometimes farming, half half. Wherever I can find work.”

Mohammadullah says that if he can’t find work he will go to Iran or some other country to look for work. #Badakhshan #Afghanistan Photo & Words by Lynzy Billing @lynzybilling. #everydayafghanistan #fathers #afghan #everydayeverywhere #children #photojournalism #unemployment #crises #economiccrisis #village #humanrights #work #aid #NGO #everydaybadakhshan #everydayasia #reportagespotlight #afghanchildren #reportagephotography #SDGS #poverty #womensharecultures (at Badakhshan Province) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdVvp2yNHYU/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

A game of ‘Buzkashi’ in Wakhan Corridor. A display of horsemanship reminiscent of polo, this game sees men grapple over possession of a slaughtered goat. The Wakhan, Afghanistan’s warless corridor of land that separates Tajikistan and Pakistan is Home to 12,000 people. Despite the high altitude and terrain, the Wakhan was a historical trade route between Badakhshan and Yarkand. #Badakhshan, #Afghanistan.
