as  far  as  cora  was  concerned,  alphas  were  made  through  violence.  and  scott  mccall?  he  wasn't  violent.  cora  knew  that  from  the  brief  time  she'd  spent  with  him.  but  his  eyes  were  red.  that  was  something  she'd  only  ever  seen  in  alphas,  so  it  was  clearly  the  case.  ❝  of  course  i'm  still  confused.  ❞  cora  rolled  her  eyes  as  she  spoke,  ❝  what  you're  saying  goes  against  everything  i've  ever  learned.  so  yeah  .  .  .  it's  confusing.  ❞  she  frowned  as  scott  kept  speaking,  ❝  i  want  to  know.  i  want  to  know  if  you're  a  special  snowflake  or  if  it  can  happen  to  anyone.  ❞

Losing your family may not be something that one considered a "pro and con" situation. But for Jeremy, it was. Con, well, now he's technically an orphan. Pro, his birth family sucked. Con, he's a werewolf now. Pro, he's a werewolf in a pack, so he's not alone. Over the years, it's been more of a pro. Jeremy loves his pack, his new family, they aren't always the nicest but they keep an eye out for him which is all Jeremy really cares about. They see other packs occasionally, like the once large Hale pack, but Jeremy gets to travel the country with his family. Until they decide to stay put for a bit, in a Californian town called Beacon Hills. Jeremy gets to actually be in school, and he's ready to try his best to blend in with normal humans for a longer time. Except that Scott, the lacrosse player he's been becoming friends with, suddenly is at school with a new scent, and Derek Hale of the Hale pack is hanging around. So much for an attempt at being normal

true  alpha  scott  mccall.  cora  had  thought  that  was  just  a  myth  .  .  .  that  someone  could  just  magically  become  an  alpha  because  they  were  a  good  person  or  whatever.  it  had  made  cora  more  interested  in  someone  she  would  have  ignored  in  any  other  situation.  ❝  show  me  your  eyes?  ❞  it  takes  a  moment  for  her  to  settle  herself  down,  to  resist  the  urge  to  turn  it  into  a  demand  rather  than  a  question.  ❝  i  want  to  see  if  this  true  alpha  thing  is  bullshit  or  not.  ❞  there's  the  classic  cora.

alphas  were  made  by  killing.  that  was  something  cora  knew  in  her  bones.  she  also  knew  it  was  possible  to  pass  off  the  spark  .  .  .  but  cora  couldn't  see  anyone  having  enough  faith  in  scott  to  pass  it  off.  she  also  couldn't  see  scott  killing  anyone.  so  it  was  all  a  big  question  mark  in  cora's  head.  ❝  pretty  much,  yeah.  ❞  cora  said  with  a  shrug,  ❝  i've  never  heard  of  a  true  alpha,  let  alone  seen  one  in  person.  ❞  cora  watched  him,  eyes  narrowed  as  his  flashed  red.  that  was  the  sign  of  an  alpha  for  sure  .  .  .  but  it  was  wild.  ❝  it's  definitely  .  .  .  something.  ❞

THOUGH much more confident and less awkward after being thrust into the supernatural world and stepping into the role of true alpha, there were still people who always managed to make him uneasy, even just slightly. cora hale was one of those people, but only because she had a fierce intensity about her that the male wasn't quite used to. he'd dealt with people like that before, but she was on an entirely different level and he often found himself needing to evaluate the situation before acting in her presence. an eyebrow raised at her inquiry. ❛❛ not a big believer in things that you haven't seen for yourself ? ❜❜ scott responded, giving her a smirk before he focused, closed his eyes, then opened them to reveal ruby red pupils that faded quickly after. ❛❛ pretty cool, huh ? ❜❜
