but it rains, and i rise — a stranger things summer camp au
Tumblr media
Camp Hawk, est. 1953 in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana, was designed to ignite the spark of creativity in young teenagers in the hopes of keeping them off of the streets. As years go by, one of the great consistencies throughout generations of Hoppers is their belief that if schools were to take the arts more seriously, kids would go on to live more enriched lives.
And what better example to lead by than the constant flow of counsellors that opt to graduate from their years of being a camper themselves? It's tough to get the campers that grew up with them to refer to them by their counsellor names, but the Eagle himself, Jim Hopper, sees for himself year upon year how well the kids take to respecting their peers once that extra boundary is in place. It's not just former campers, either - despite it being so small and discerning, Camp Hawk is one of the most sought-after for counsellor applications.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Argyle - Canary: A newbie fresh in from Lenora Hills, California. Rocking up in a beaten-up pizza delivery van, blasting reggae music, Hopper was about ready to turn him away before his tyres could track through the parking lot, but his partner, Joyce, insisted Argyle be given a fair shot. Hopper doesn't care much for Argyle's laid-back approach to life, but his offer to create the brand new role of cooking tutor impressed the camp operator enough to hire him. Argyle's always been the kind to throw caution to the wind and let it drive him, but now that he's graduated, he's got to prove himself. He thought getting his job at Surfer Boy Pizza would prove his responsibility, but no dice there. Perhaps this job will help him get taken seriously.
Nancy - Oriole: Hopper's never played favourites, of course not, that wouldn't be fair - but relief certainly swept through him when he saw the name Nancy Wheeler amongst counsellor applications. She was whipping her team into shape even as a young camper - though that started to waver once Steve Harrington came on the scene. Every year became the same - a whirlwind summer romance that lasted from the moment their feet would touch camp soil, only to break each others' hearts on the last day, just to pick up where they left off a year later. However, as Nancy matured over the years, Steve certainly didn't, driving her out of his arms and into the far quieter ones of fellow camper-turned-counsellor, Jonathan Byers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jonathan - Finch: It was Hopper's ability to find a talent in young Jonathan which brought him out of his shell, that ultimately brought his mother Joyce closer to the camp operator. It was no skin off Jonathan's back - it practically guaranteed him a spot on the counsellor team without having to interact too much with his fellow campers, at least. But he eventually learned the benefits to socialising when being an ear to listen to Nancy's troubles soon became a shoulder to cry on, which snowballed into a friendship that hinted at far more. Though the two live in completely different parts of the country, long distance seems to suit Jonathan just fine - in fact, better than being in each others' spaces for, say, weeks of their summer vacation.
Chrissy - Parakeet: Chrissy hated camp at first, but she'd never tell her parents. She'd made such a big deal about wanting to go, despite them telling her she wouldn't handle being away from them. That wasn't why she hated camp - that could be boiled down to two words. Steve. Harrington. Every year, without fail, he'd do the absolute most to try and make her life hell. She hated to admit to it, but this rivalry did build character for her. She wants to be as much of a role model to new campers as her counsellors always were to her, and at least she also managed to get her best friend from back home a job, too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Eddie - Kingfisher: One half of the self-proclaimed Team Newbie, Eddie needed something to pad his resume with now that he'd finally graduated high school alongside his best friend two years his junior, Chrissy Cunningham. Another hesitant hire from Hopper, except beyond the anarchist persona the man could tell that there was a softer side to the boy, crying out for a little bit of order, a little bit of responsibility to prove himself. If Hopper plays his cards right, Eddie has all the makings of an ideal counsellor.
Vickie - Parula: Vickie had lived in close enough proximity of Camp Hawk all her life, and while she begged and begged her parents to sign her up, they insisted on summers being for family vacations. She celebrated her 18th birthday by sending her application for counsellor eight times over - one for every year she wished she could have attended. Of course, she'd done her research. She knew the culture of Camp Hawk inside out. She knew that almost everyone there would know someone, except her. But perhaps that's the unique take she can bring to the camp. If she can show one kid who's struggling to make friends, that even the adults need to start from scratch sometimes, she'd be satisfied.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Steve - Robin: Steve was by far Hopper's proudest achievement. Turning Robert Harrington's spoiled little brat into someone who enjoyed being in a place of structure so much that he was begging Hopper to come back as a counsellor. Just one problem - Steve Harrington doesn't have a creative bone in his body. That's a slight lie, there's one way his creativity shines, but the last thing Hopper needs is Steve teaching more kids how best to prank Chrissy Cunningham, even when his on-and-off girlfriend Nancy was desperately asking him to grow up and settle down for her. Still, Hopper couldn't resist creating another brand new role just for Steve. He just hopes that having a responsibility for something that he cares about will be the final flame under Steve's ass that he needs.
Robin - Cardinal: Robin has spent her whole life being the black sheep of everywhere she goes, and now that she's supposed to "go out into the world" and "find herself", she has no clue where to even begin. She's more than happy to sit back, play second fiddle to whoever needs her to, and let someone else dictate her life for her for as long as possible. Anything that allows her to procrastinate from having to face the realities of all the burdens of reality: not knowing what direction she wants to live her life in, though the pressures of college sure want her to; coming to terms with having finally come out to herself, and having to face the ultimate dread of figuring out who would ever possibly be safe to come out to.

Cheerscoops Lady and The Tramp ish au mayhaps?
Steve getting ahead with his charm, Chrissy wanting to escape her horrible mother, leading the two to meet. Steve not seeming rough, making him seem the easiest to approach, and him recognizing real wealth enough to know that someone has to keep an eye on her.
At first, he thinks she's going to be another annoying rich kid running away from silly problems. But the more he talks to her, the more he gets it. And the more she talks to him, the more she realizes just how smart he is.
The day they spend together, she's trying to prove that she's worth keeping around. Shenanigans happen, things go wrong, but eventually she gets it right and, hey, they do charm and make more money if they work together.

tied me to you // a cheerscoops fic part one: and isn't it just so pretty to think
An hour into the party Steve was introduced to a sophomore. She had such a beautiful smile that even while he was pulled away to some drinking game and her friends pulled her away, he couldn’t get that smile out of his head. It was like staring directly at the sun without getting burned or blinded. He drank and drank, filling himself with the liquid courage that he usually passed off as natural charisma. Eventually, he’ll find her again, eventually, he’ll make his moves. They don’t call him King Steve just because he could last the longest keg stand in the party crowd.

Just Curious
I’m in hell again over these obscure ass ships that are all I care about in this fandom. I know it’s cheerscoops week tho this isn’t really based on any prompt from it I’ll consider it a nod to my fellows lol.
Rating: G Relationship: Chrissy Cunningham/Steve Harrington (stissy/harringham/cheerscoops)
Tumblr media
Preview:
Something Steve had noticed about Chrissy Cunningham was that while she always seemed to be one of the most excited about putting something together and everyone having fun, she always seemed to be on the edge of every party and every hangout when they actually got there. If she wasn’t dead center of the cheer routine at a pep rally or game then she was nowhere near the center of attention. He kinda wondered about that because it had seemed odd at first how she could be all loud and bright when she cheered and then suddenly get all quiet off the court. Eventually he just kinda guessed it was like reverse stage fright or something, cheering had a routine she just had to follow but having a conversation didn’t and that could be a little nerve wracking.
It did still kind of make him feel bad though, when all the cheerleaders and jocks were at some party she’d help put together to see her there with a red cup in hand at the edge of the everything smiling shyly and barely talking to anyone. It just didn’t sit right with him that no one seemed to notice her there or check up on her. She was like an island off the coast of their shore and no one seemed interested in sailing over or building a bridge. He found with every party or hangout that it bothered him more and more. They were at a party at the lake this time. He saw her there sitting on a log at the edge of the fire light by herself. Steve dipped out of his conversation with the guys to change that.

Feels Like This was the other was one of the two fics that tied for first in this tag game poll I recently did. It starts out as hellcheer and is going to end up being cheerscoops with the potential of eventually being hellcheerscoops if I can make it work. Here's the 23 sentence snippet I needed to write plus a couple extra sentences so I could finish the thought again lol. Enjoy!

Eddie lit the cigarette that was perched between his lips and tossed his lighter onto the nightstand before leaning back against the plush silk of his pillows. As he took a long drag, Chrissy curled up against him, the blankets slung low across their hips. He offered the cigarette to her, but she shook her head in response. Instead, she started tracing patterns into his skin with the hand that had been splayed against his bare chest.
“What’s on your mind?” he asked her. “You’re usually never this quiet after.”
“I had a meeting with the label earlier,” she told him. “Right before you texted me. I think they’re finally going to send me on tour.”
Eddie set his cigarette in the ashtray on his nightstand and rolled over to pin Chrissy to the mattress. “That’s amazing! Why didn’t you lead with that? Then it could have been celebratory sex instead of a booty call!”
“Don’t call it a booty call,” Chrissy said through her laughter. “I think whatever this is is a little more than that. Anyway, I didn’t say anything about it because I don’t know if I’m actually going to do it or not.”
“But you’ve been talking about this for as long as I’ve known you. That’s the dream. Your very own tour with your name up in lights. Why wouldn’t you do it?”
“Because it’s not my very own tour. I’d only be the opening act, and the offer comes with a catch.”
She pushed Eddie to roll off of her and sighed as she stared up at the ceiling.
“They want me to help write The Babysitters’ next album. You know how protective I am over my words. I broke up with Jason because he couldn’t stand that I was keeping my songs to myself instead of using them to further his career. I don’t know if I can physically force myself into a situation like that again.”

Shit. Shit, shit, shit. Steve pulls out the now-tiny shirt from the washing machine that is most certainly not his. The ribbed, brown, short-sleeved top has far too small a neckline as it is, but now that it’s shrunk amongst his clothes, it looks even smaller.
He searches desperately for some kind of clue as to who it might belong to. Nothing’s written on the labels - though why would it be, this is college, not kindergarten - and there’s nothing else to suggest any different. Steve groans, holding his head in his hands as he sinks into a squat, sitting on his heels as he tries to think of what to do with it.
Someone comes in - an upperclassman, taller than Steve, and more slender. He cocks his head when he sees Steve, “You good?”
“Huh?” Steve looks up at him. “Uh, yeah. Yeah. All the other machines are free,” he explains, but the other man shakes his head.
“Nah, dude, I’m just looking for something, I might have left it here,” he explains, and Steve snorts out a laugh.
“I don’t suppose this is it, is it?” He holds up the shrunken shirt and the other guy hisses through his teeth.
“No, but you know whose I think that is? God, what’s her name, she’s in theatre with me… Ah, fuck, red hair, Indiana girl… Chrissy! I don’t know her last name, but yeah. I’ve seen Chrissy wear a shirt just like that,” he nods.
Steve throws the shirt over his shoulder and takes his own basket into his arms. “Alright, I can probably go off that. Thanks, man, appreciate you. Hope you find your thing!” Steve calls from over his shoulder as he leaves.
Only opening the door to his dorm to throw the laundry basket through it, Steve takes the shirt belonging to the girl named Chrissy in his hand and runs back down the stairs to the front desk. “Hi! Wondering if you can help me. Do you happen to know if there are any freshmen here by the name of Chrissy that take theatre?” The woman behind the desk looks at Steve over her glasses, judging. Steve tries his best to ignore it. “I, uh, have something of hers that I’m trying to return.”
After a few minutes of flicking through the new-fangled “computer” she’s working on, the woman eventually says, “Chrissy Cunningham? That’s all I have for you. She’s in Ryder’s English class right now. Ends in about twenty minutes.”
“Are there any others with the same first name? I don’t wanna mess up,” Steve frowns.
Another judgemental look over her frames. “What part of “that’s all I have for you” didn’t make it through your ears?”
“Alright, damn,” Steve frowns, offended, as he steps away. “Well, thank you anyway, lady.”
Steve asks around to find out where Ryder’s class is and finally finds it just as class ends. He scans the crowd, desperate to find a redhead that looks like she’d wear a shirt like this, when the sight of a familiar face feels like a slap across his cheeks.
He didn’t think anyone else from Hawkins would be here, but then again, he wasn’t sure where any of them were graduating, since they were all a year his junior. He vaguely remembers Chrissy as being one of the cheerleaders, but with them all wearing the same uniform all of the time, it was easy for Steve to never pay attention to them. Cheerleaders always wanted Steve, but he only wanted girls that were different. What an ass.
He holds his hand out to land on Chrissy’s shoulder, “Hey!”
Chrissy, focused on getting out with the rest of them, jumps a little as she’s called out. She looks up and can’t believe her eyes. “Steve Harrington?! What are you doing here?!”
“Managed to crawl my way into getting into classes a year after everyone else in my grade did,” he shrugs. “But if you mean, why am I here at your class, I, uh… I think this might be yours?” He asks with gritted teeth, holding up the shrunken shirt.
Chrissy pouts, “Oh, no! That was one of my favourite shirts, too.”
“I’m so, so sorry, I think it got left behind in the washing machine, and then I had my clothes on a hot wash, and - How much was it, I can go back to whatever store and buy you a new one, money’s not an object, I swear, just tell me where -” Steve starts frantically searching his jeans pocket for a pen, protruding one and poising to write on the back of his hand, but Chrissy shakes her head with a small, defeated smile.
“No, that’s sweet of you, but it’s out of season by now. You wouldn’t be able to buy it again,” she sighs sadly. “Guess that’s the end of that.”
Steve racks his brain as he comes up with half a solution. He mutters under his breath, “Right, so what if… But then how do I… Shit,” he pulls a frustrated face as his Casio watch beeps. “Um… Ah!” Chrissy’s amusement at watching Steve’s thoughts happen in real time becomes shock when he pulls his shirt off. He holds it out to her, but it takes her a second to process the sight of his bare torso in front of her. He manages to recuperate himself enough to smirk, “Eyes are up here, Cunningham.” Blushing, she looks up at him and he shakes his shirt at her. “Take this!”
She does so, cautiously, and Steve pulls the still-damp, shrunken shirt over his head, wrestling his head and arms in each hole. Chrissy laughs, confused, as she watches him, until he pulls the shirt down as far as it will go. It reaches just past his pecs, hugging his biceps a little too well. “What are you doing?!” she giggles, hiding her face in his shirt. It smells like sandalwood, and something else that she can’t place.
“I have to get to class, now. I’m in dorm 701, over in block D, um…” He takes Chrissy’s free hand and writes “701, block D” on the back of it with his pen. “If I’m not there, I’m probably around… Somewhere,” he shrugs as he backs away. “Think of that shirt as collateral, so you know I’ll be back for it once I’ve stretched this one back out again!” He turns on his heel and runs to his next class.
He’s met with all kinds of reactions. Mostly wolf-whistles, jokey catcalls from other guys and laughter from the girls he passes. He doesn’t care, though. He’s doing this for a good cause. Chrissy looked so upset when she thought she’d never get the shirt back. He’s going to cheer her up again. Her laughter sounded so pure, so sweet in Steve’s ear. Her smile lit up her whole face, including the twinkle in her eyes. Who wouldn't want to see that all of the time?
He’s distracted throughout his whole class, thinking about her. Who was she in Hawkins? Obviously, Steve knew she was on the cheer team, but that was all. He couldn’t remember whether she was on the main squad or on reserve, whether she was dating anyone on the basketball team, or the swim team, or the football team. What kind of person she was like in school, whether she’s the same now. Steve kicks himself internally for not being able to see past the uniforms for all those years.
But, that’s probably a blessing. King Steve wouldn’t have appreciated her the way Steve would now. And the older, more mature Steve already hates his former self for how he treated the girls he dated.
The more that Steve wears the shirt, the less people’s comments affect him. At one point, in the courtyard, someone calls out to Steve, “Hey, Harrington, my sister called, she wants her crop top back!” as they throw him a basketball.
Steve catches it easily, smirking, “Yeah, yeah, laugh all you want. You’re just jealous of how good I look in this,” before shooting it back to them. Turning his head to carry on, he spots Chrissy walking past. He grins, pulling the shirt down further to show her, “It’s coming on great! Still some work to do, though!”
Chrissy watches him walk past in awe. The sheer confidence he has while wearing her shirt… Taking his out of her bag, she slides it on over her own outfit, lifting the neckline past her lips to smile into the fabric. Of course, she’d heard tales of King Steve, but they all seemed to stop once he hit his senior year. Especially so after he’d graduated. Chrissy always thought there must have been something in him that had changed for the better. She’d been hoping the same would happen to Jason Carver, that he’d care more for their relationship beyond basketball captain meets head cheerleader, but…
Chrissy shakes her head and looks at the back of her hand again. She’s not sure when Steve will be finished with class for the day, but she knows that she is. And she could go to the library to study, or maybe she could just study in her dorm instead. And maybe she could take a little detour.
When she gets to Steve’s dorm, she fishes out a notepad and a pen from her bag. She writes, Your shirt now lives at dorm 143, come get it! - Chrissy in her favourite purple gel pen, that glitters and smells of grapes, rips out the page from the book and slides it under his door before returning to her own dorm room for the foreseeable future.
A little under two hours later, there’s a knock at Chrissy’s door. She tears herself away from the notes she’s studying to answer and beams when she sees Steve again. “Hi! You got my note!”
“Sure did,” he smiles, looking her up and down. “Nice shirt.”
“Could say the same for you!” she giggles as she moves to let Steve in. “Have you really been wearing that all day?” Steve nods. “Well, you might have started a new trend here! All the guys’ll be sporting crop tops soon.”
“Yeah, well, hopefully theirs will actually fit them a little better,” Steve smirks, amused at his own joke. “Alright, now, heads up, I’m gonna give you this shirt back. That means I’m gonna take it off again. Sure you can handle that?” He raises his eyebrows at her.
She blushes, holding her hair over her face coyly. “Shut up and strip, already.”
“Yes, ma’am,” he nods, peeling the shirt off of his torso. He flaps it out in front of him a couple of times before handing it over to her. “I hope that’s done it some good, at least.”
“Only one way to find out!” She waves the shirt up before heading to the bathroom. Steve is suddenly very aware that he is sitting in the dorm of someone he only barely knows, completely shirtless. He looks around the room, trying to see anything that’ll spark a memory of his own time in Hawkins to attach Chrissy to, but there’s very little to go from.
She emerges moments later, the shirt hugging her figure beautifully. She looks down at it, tugging it down. “Well, it’s not the length it used to be, but I think I could still make it work as a cute little crop top, I mean, you sure did!” she giggles, before looking back up at Steve, who’s looking at her with glassy eyes and parted lips. Feeling a swooping sensation wash over her insides, she grins, “Eyes are up here, Harrington.”
He snaps out of his trance to smile sarcastically at her. “Hilarious. You gonna give me my shirt back or are you just trying to keep me shirtless?” Rolling her eyes jokingly, Chrissy tosses Steve his shirt back, which he pulls back on to discover that his usual musk has been replaced with a far sweeter, more floral scent. Steve licks his lips and pauses for a moment before asking, “So, uh, you got anything planned for the rest of the day?”
Chrissy shakes her head. “Not that I’m aware of. You?”
“Well, first on the agenda, ask a cute girl to get coffee with me,” Steve taps one finger with another. “Second depends on what your answer is,” he taps his middle finger that time, gesturing his whole hand to her.
Chrissy giggles, “Wow, maybe you’re not Steve Harrington of Hawkins High, after all. From all I heard of him, he’s nowhere near that dorky!”
Steve rasps, cocking his head confidently. “Don’t pretend like it didn’t work.”
With a grin, Chrissy walks up to him and kisses his cheek before grabbing her purse and heading to the door, swivelling around in the doorway to hold her hand out towards Steve. “So? Are we going?”
Steve springs into action, jogging over to her with a, “Yes, ma’am,” as he takes her hand and leads her out of the dorm.

talk 2 me abt scream into nothingness!!
!!! okay!!
it's actually a v basic premise, i'd go as far as to say it's the most obvious choice for a photocheer fic, but there's just so little out there i'm gonna put it out there myself n_n
anyway, everybody lives/no upside down au, which means jonathan has no reason to leave hawkins and nancy has had no reason to break up with steve. but jonathan is still v infatuated w nancy - nothing canon happened, after all, so he's been the borderline creep/guy who doesn't think his actions have consequences for a While now. i am Decimating my poor boy in the name of character development
so they get paired together in a class for either a bog project or just as classmates + therefore work buddies throughout the year. at first jonathan skulks like "ik you don't want to be seen w me, i'm a creep i'm a weirdo [various other radiohead noises]" and just offers to do all the work bc that's usually how it goes. but chrissy cunningham doesn't shy from her work. she can do it all! he's just jon.
anyway she tries to get through to jonathan, to no avail. eventually twigs that he's into nancy. (this is where i stumble though tbh, bc i usually write high school content being senior year, which means steve won't be there. unless a) since this is AU he gets held back, or b) he stays as an assistant coach and jonathan resents him for "turning" nancy into the kind of person who sneaks away with a member of the faculty but i kinda hate those implications so idk)
chrissy offers to try and get between steve n nancy. if jonathan wants. (i can't stop the cheerscoops i'm sorry) jonathan gets ultra defensive and verbally attacks chrissy like ugh you girls are all the same 🙄 all you think people care about is romantic validation 🙄 and chrissy gets real upset by it and runs away. maybe isn't in class the next time. and jon starts to feel bad. he apologises to chrissy and she doesn't accept it but also she still sits next to him in class. and he tries to engage w her but she p much just sets her own tasks and jonathan his and they can just put their work together.
i'm also in two minds about whether jonathan starts to see the error of his ways as a result of just that, or whether to drag it out and have them lock horns back n forth a few times until finally they have EITHER (my brain is just neverending forks in the road lol, this is why i have anna to pick for me) one especially heated argument that just ~explodes into passion~, or they finally have a heart to heart and get it all out there.

so many iconic titles I wanna know about everything!!
I'll start with "but it rains, and I rise" though please 🫶
!!!!! thank you lui <3
but it rains, and i rise, originally but it rings, and i rise, is my summer camp au! (the title was originally taken straight from a song lyric but there is a ~motif~ when it comes to rain so i put it in the title too as a Subtle Hint except my brand of autism makes me Bad At Subtlety so i'm leaning into it heh)
i am waiting until all of the story part of it is finished before releasing it, in part probably to punish myself lol, but you can learn a little bit about the character dynamics here! it starts off with established jancy and previous stancy, with steve and chrissy also being childhood rivals, but eventually becomes endgame cheerscoops + edancy + jargyle + rockie. (i still need to think of a good name for the e___ eight)
i say i'm waiting for the story "part" to be finished before i start posting because that's only half of the story. ideally, it's all going to be on its own blog, and between chapters, i'm hoping to release little diary entries from the campers to give a little nuance into their personal opinion on how events in the story part transpire. and maybe the occasional graphic if i can come up with ones that i like. but yeah! i really want to make it into something special, even if it isn't for everyone, it's for me, and i like to think i deserve to put effort into something that's self-serving.
(i will give u a snippet under the cut too <3)
"Besides, surely Nancy can help you build some bridges, right?"
"Oh, yeah, I'm sure there's nothing she'd love more than to mother her own boyfriend as well as all the campers," Jonathan bites back.
"Your attitude is half your problem, you know," Chrissy frowns. "If you don't think anyone wants to be your friend, they'll pick up on that. Are you sharing with a newbie? I've got a girl called Vickie in with me."
Jonathan grunts in agreement, slowly and blindly turning himself about behind the pile of sheets that Chrissy either hasn’t noticed she’s stacked in his arms to head height, or is choosing not to. “Some guy who didn’t even bother putting a last name, and I don’t remember his first. He’s the yellow guy, that’s all I know.”
“Oh, so he’ll work with Nancy! That’s, like, perfect for you!” Chrissy chirps. Jonathan can’t keep up with how often her tone changes, especially as she playfully teases, "The whole nepo baby thing's really working out for you, huh."

I'm too much of a chicken-shit to reblog that post but I'll tell you here: to me, you're THE captain of the Cheerscoops ship. Your content convinced me to ship it, and now I feel actual anger towards the Suffer Bros when I think about them never getting any canon interactions between them.
pahahaha omfg you're waaaay too kind to me. i'm glad my inability to shut the fuck up over the things i ship has inspired you rather than deterred you lmao, but i cannot take that title all for myself!! if you're talking about my gifsets specifically, they're literally just @psychecreations dupes lol, and if you mean just the existence of @cheerscoopscentral that's something i co-run with @keerysquinn but thankfully!! i've got two hands!! (which ironically is the thinking that eventually led me to start shipping chsc lol) so i will very happily take the title of co-captain alongside those lovelies <3
(also if you're mad at the duffels for no canon interaction, idk if you've already seen this but we could have had it all </3)

this dizzy dreamer: hmmm. i've been thinking about this one for a while now. and we're getting a chrissy cunningham double feature here bc i wanna talk photocheer!!
send me a fake fic title and i'll tell you what i'd write based on it!
all your pictures on the floor: chrissy's mum and jason's mum had like practically arranged for them to be childhood sweethearts turned eventual spouses and during chrissy's Teenage Rebel phase (at 18) she's like "and why can't i choose who i want to date, huh?! what's to stop me from dating whoever i want anyway behind all of your backs?! isn't that worse?" so laura is like "if you won't agree to a relationship with jason, you're not living under my roof"
so she ends up dating and running away to live with steve. charming, goofy, totally reformed former playboy steve. everything's a dream, at first. she even opts to not go to college so she can just start her domestic life with steve as soon as it starts. but they're both still way too young to be starting a lifestyle like that, and neither of them have had good role models. so even though they do have really good times together, the in between bits are full of little insecurities. any time one of them is home late from work, the other assumes that Something must be happening behind their backs, but they're both so inexperienced in adult relationships that neither of them talk about it. chrissy's fed up of working and being a homemaker but steve never had to lift a finger so he doesn't know how to cook or clean and chrissy doesn't want to have to teach him.
stuff like that builds up until eventually steve cracks and is like "look, you chose to live here, so if you're not happy, you can get out." and maybe this is just before chrissy goes off to work for the day, and when she gets back all her stuff is in boxes outside the harrington house. her family won't accept her back. jason's got a fiancée who he's obsessed with. so she gets a motel room for the night, looks in one of the boxes and sees that steve's given her all of their photo albums, too. so chrissy puts all the photos out across the room, of all the good times that they had, reminiscing of them, wondering where it went wrong, wondering if the "good" times even were that good. and she realises she's faced with the option of either trying to fend for herself with no support network, or going back to steve with her tail between her legs and repeating the cycle of being just like her mother, who she starts to realise was only setting her up w jason bc jason was the safe option she never went for as a kid. and she was hoping not to let history repeat itself. but it did
this dizzy dreamer: au in which chrissy is a popstar, and jonathan works for a music magazine. he takes photos for a piece on chrissy, and they are. stunning. they capture her vibe perfectly, even she loves how she looks in them, and that feature really helps her career kick off. she's about to do her first major all-american tour and she seeks jonathan out to be the photographer for the whole thing. (idk if this is a thing for everyone, but i've been seeing a lot of harry styles' tour on my fyp and he apparently has a photographer called lloyd so that's what i'm basing this off of)
anyway as they're touring, chrissy realises how introverted jonathan is and desperately tries to get him to open up around everyone so that he feels part of the ~tour family~. and ofc he does Not want to do that. but some nights when chrissy can't sleep, jonathan is up, too. except he's sitting on the roof of the tour bus, getting high. he offers to roll chrissy a joint, but she tells him that if she smokes a whole one all by herself it makes her dizzy and throws her off. but she'll stay up with him and talk to him.
he tells her he's up bc he worries about his brother back home. she tells him she has a little brother too. he tells her he knows, they've grown up together and she's never even realised it. that's why he's completely okay with this just being a professional relationship. but chrissy feels bad that she doesn't remember jonathan. but she still finds ways to connect with him through anecdotes like "remember when mike lewenski started that huge food fight in middle school?"
as the tour goes on, she starts getting stressed. people keep writing about her, and being a female in the public eye, a lot of tabloids are judging her, setting expectations for her she doesn't know how to keep. and so to help her calm down between shows, jonathan offers to share a joint with her. she opens up to jonathan on a deeper level about how she's worried that she can't hack it, and that she's gonna have to give up on her dreams. jonathan tells her that it's admirable that she even has one, let alone one that she went for. it makes chrissy sad to hear that jonathan's never had a dream, but he tells her he doesn't mind, he only never thought to have any bc he spent so long taking care of his mum and brother.
chrissy swears that she'll help him come up with a dream to aim for. but, as tour goes on, his work gains notoriety, and he starts genuinely enjoying taking photos of the girl he's falling in love with, he realises he's already living it :)

what are your current WIPs acey? you could never be annoying about it btw!! ♥️
i wish my brain would listen to you anon but thank you!!
well i am still trying to write the ending to don't, don't, don't throw it away. i never really outlined how i wanted it to end just a really vague like scene but i couldn't write an entire chapter on it so i'm slugging through. you can find the fic on ao3 here
and then currently what i'm writing is a steddie fic request i received for my 420 follower event. from months ago. yes. i'm getting to them finally!! i have like 1/2 a jargyle one written from a month ago that i'm unsure if i want to keep.
the steddie fic i'm writing is based on this band au i was writing over the summer, i think before vol 2 came out. it's both steddie and ronance, very fleetwood vibes(the chain is like a heavy inspiration for me, and silver springs if i'm being honest). it's been reignited by me reading and watching daisy jones & the six (so it's a bit more angsty, lots of drugs and addiction vibes) and then also weirdly enough watching popstar: never stop never stopping. thank you andy samberg. this is just a one shot but i think i might end up doing a collection or maybe writing it out fully who knows. i might bring it back. band au you will always be famous. it even has a playlist.
i have quite a few others floating in my mind for my follower event requests. i have a couple for cheerscoops, edancy, jargyle, stargyle. i'm just hoping i could continue on this writing trajectory. i do need to somehow fit a before sunrise/sunset/midnight fic for someone eventually. i got so many vibes from watching before sunrise the other day. (idk how but i was thinking cheerscoops but i'm still trying to figure it out bc they wouldn't really be strangers)
anyway thank you so much for letting me be rambly!!
