Death At The Ball

- An illustrated DND short story.

Evening, the orange glow from the sunset saturated the city of Tel- Salam. Its golden towers shimmering like the ocean itself. This particular evening was very special. The sultan of Tel-salam was holding his annual ball. Usually, commoners would not be allowed access to such a prestigious event, however, this time, five travelers would set foot in the decorated halls of the palace.

The sultan, a Mirus man by the name of Meaow Meaow II, had invited these five as a token of gratitude for rescuing his bumbling, buffoon of a son, Frazzle Meaow, from bloodthirsty pirates.

The quintet made their entry into the lavish palace. A servant made their presence known to the rest of the congregation by loudly proclaiming their names;

"Hear ye, hear ye, making their entrance; Scylla the paladin, Minerva the sorceress, Cyddr the warlock, Ludo the fighter and Pawkalia the druid, saviors of Frazzle Meaow, son of the sultan."

The party scurried inside and split up, a few quickly made their way to the rows of tables, filled to the brim with various luxurious foods and baked goods. The others would make attempts at small talk with the guests or moving about on the dancefloor. The festivities were a welcomed change of pace after a rough couple of weeks.

Eventually, the evening turned to night and guests were told to gather in the main hall near the sultan's throne. The sultan was about to make an announcement.

"My dear patrons, I've gathered you here today to issue a quest of utmost importance. As some of you might know I come from a lineage of illustrious kings, rulers of a formerly great city named Slumnir. Once the center of trade and the birthplace of our great dynasty, now it lies in ruin, afflicted by a deadly curse. This mission would entail many dangers and those who are brave enough to venture forth, would certainly put their lives at great risk. However, to those who would seek out the city and lift its terrible curse, the reward will be immense. They'll be granted access to the bank vault of Tel-Salam and its many treasures."

As the King went into details about the journey, the main hall suddenly went dark. A few of the guests were frantically looking around, yet the adventurers stood calmly by, assessing the situation. At the end of the hall near the doors, a faint red glow could be noticed, growing far stronger with every passing second. The gates to the palace slammed open, the now piercing red light, quickly enveloped the chamber. Emitting the scarlet light was a grotesque and wretched being. It stood tall, close to twenty feet. A thick miasma clung to the creature as it slowly made its way across the recently polished marble flooring. Its appearance was that of a shapeless, gelatinous mass. The creature let off a deep bellow before speaking.

"I am the Ravager, God of blood and destined ruler of this world. To those who value their lives, KNEEL!"

Nearly instantaneously most of the guests were on their knees, cowering in fear. The sheer presence of the creature had zapped many of their strength to stand, including the sorceress Minerva who was frozen in fear. The warlock Cyddr, and the druid Pawkalia, had taken a knee as well. The only two standing between the Ravager and the sultan were Scylla, the paladin and Ludo, the fighter.

"Do you two not know fear, or have you completely lost the capacity to think rationally?" Asked the Ravager.

Scylla, retorted; "I serve only one God and it's that of the black fish. I will not be begging for my life to some false deity."

Ludo, standing next to Scylla, made a statement of his own; "I may be a simple warforged but I would never let a friend of mine fight such a battle alone."

"Then you shall both perish..." Answered the Ravager.

"TO THOSE WHO ARE KNEELING, DO YOU NOT FEEL SHAME!? GRAB YOUR WEAPONS AND FIGHT! THIS IS NO TIME FOR COWARDICE!" Scylla shouted.

This action seemingly snapped a few out of their dread, including Cyddr and Pawkalia. Minerva however, was completely paralyzed, barely managing to breathe. A small party formed behind Scylla and Ludo. With a ferocious lunge the members attacked the Ravager with all of their might.

The group strung together a series of mighty blows upon the beast, however it seemed unfazed by their attempts to damage it. From its body, a whip-like tendril lashed out at Scylla knocking her to the ground and making her lose grip of her mighty hammer. Scylla felt a sharp searing pain across her chest, her hammer too far away to grab, she could only use the next best thing at her disposal. A tooth she had kept from a previous adventure, said to have belonged to the black fish itself. She made a sprint towards the creature and stabbed the tooth into its foul body. The Ravager screamed in anguish, having been hurt by the tooth.

Two shapes protruded from its body, taking the form of massive arms, the Ravager setting its eyes on Ludo. The newly formed appendages headed towards the warforged with great speed. Miraculously, Ludo managed to dodge the two blows, either through skillful acrobatics, or by sheer dumb luck. What he failed to notice was the third attack. Striking down on his metallic body, the viscous mass running through the Ravager quickly engulfed Ludo. A sizzling sound could clearly be heard as the ooze would aggressively corrode the thick armor plating surrounding the submerged warforged. Unable to fight back because of the crushing pressure, Ludo was lifted into the air by the Ravager.

The rest of the party looked on in horror, as the beast grabbed Ludo by his arms and started pulling them in separate directions. An atrocious and chilling noise of metal screeching and steel wires being snapped, echoed throughout the hall.

Scylla, screaming at the top of her lungs,

"STOP!!!"

With a final tug, one of the arms tore right off the socket, taking with it, a bundle of wires, pistons and bolts. Ludo was dropped to the ground with a loud crash, his mangled and melted body laying on the ballroom floor, lifeless.

Scylla, filled with rage, tried to once again stab the tooth into the creature. however with a mere gesture the Ravager casted a spell. Suddenly, everyone standing around the creature started bleeding profusely, from their ears, eyes, noses, mouths or any other wounds they'd accumulated during their battle. The hall went silent as the remainder of combatants fell to the floor, gravely injured. Minerva, the sorceress, still in a state of shock and terror, could do nothing but watch, as her allies collapsed.

The Ravager, now free to move as it pleased, closed the distance between itself and the sultan. Speaking in a growly voice;

"I've come here to claim the throne of Tel-Salam. This was merely a demonstration of my power, if I so desired I could kill everyone in this room with little effort. You have a choice, give the crown to me and spare your people from any further bloodshed."

As the Ravager spoke the king's personal elite guards had reached the ballroom, brandishing holy weaponry and powerful armaments. The sultan sitting stoically, retorted;

"I will not give up Tel-Salam to such a wicked beast like yourself, the crown will stay on my head until my death."

Still feeling the sting of the tooth the Ravager turned around, leaving with a chilling statement;

"I will return with a great army and burn this city to the ground, and you shall bear witness to the eradication of your kingdom."

As the Ravager left, so did the red glow. The regular lights burned bright once more and the king called for all of his soldiers and medics to aid the injured. Medicinal herbs were applied to wounds, health potions were consumed with great haste and clerics used their magical abilities to cure those in need. As the commotion died down, the adventurers were for the most part back on their feet. However, one of them still laid on the cold floor, eerily silent. Due to the nature of his injuries, Ludo had passed away.

Where there had once been a vibrant glow in his eyes and core, there was simply a dull gray. A husk, a shell of the individual who had stood by his friends til the very end. A machine built for death and war had died, fighting for life.

The Water Tribes offer Princess Yue’s.

Sokka is apparently the only person in the world who has a problem with any of this.

Will We Last the Night by CSHfic | Rated T | 144k

Chief Arnook never assigns Sokka to protect Princess Yue, so he goes to fight the Fire Nation with the other men. When the moon dies, and the ocean spirit takes its revenge, Sokka is caught standing on the deck of a Fire Nation ship. Sokka should have drowned… and he would have drowned, if not for a certain Fire Nation raft fleeing the North Pole.

[An enemies-to-lovers season 2 rewrite, where Sokka is separated from the gaang during the Siege of the North, and travels the Earth Kingdom with Zuko instead].

War Crimes by Lovely_Elbow_Leech | Rated M | 90k (MAJOR CONTENT WARNING FOR SA, CHILD SA, TORTURE, MURDER, AND VIOLENCE - PLEASE READ THE TAGS AND CONTENT WARNINGS)

Book one ends with two major diffrences: 1. Sokka went on the mission with Hahn (it did not go well) 2. Zhao survives the North Pole and that proves unfortunate for everybody (except Zhao, obviously) 

Imprisoned on Zhao’s war ship, Sokka and Zuko have to work together to survive. They are not very enthusiastic about this prospect. 

And they argue. 

A lot. 

War games by Lovely_Elbow_Leech | Rated M | 428k (MAJOR CONTENT WARNING, TORTURE, VIOLENCE, MURDER - Unfinished)

After the events of War Crimes, Sokka and Zuko have escaped Zhao’s warship and are fleeing across the Earth Kingdom. As well as unfamiliar terrain, they have to navigate their shared trauma, work out where they fit into the war, and their place in each others lives.

Sokka is aware that being friends with the enemy is going to bring complications, but he probably should have guessed that being friends with Zuko in particular, was going to be a bit like dunking your head repeatedly into a bucket of angry Fire Ferrets.

Katara is also grappling with the confusion of befriending an enemy, something that doesn’t prove as difficult as she had expected with the bond of shared, furious grief bridging old wounds. (Learning a new way to look at her bending doesn't hurt either)

Azula, struggling with the Fire Lord’s mistrust, encounters a few nasty surprises and has to make some difficult decisions. Luckily, she is a great deal better at making sensible choices than her brother.

Her father may have made a slight tactical error.

I'll Share the Moon, if You'll Share the Sun by anarchycox | Rated M | 400k

An alternate world where Iroh leads a coup against Ozai on the eclipse and wins the throne for Zuko. The southern water tribe hadn't sent men to fight in thirty years, instead protecting their home, laying traps, using guerilla tactics so the fire nation gave up fighting them.

Sokka and Katara found Aang, but being frozen in ice for a hundred years has ramifications and for almost four years the tribe focuses on healing the avatar.

Zuko is advised for continued peace to have an arranged marriage outside the fire nation. The best option is a the child of the chief of the southern tribe. Katara is in love with Aang and is heartbroken, but will do her duty for her people. Sokka finds a loophole that they can carefully and craftily exploit.

Aka they lie. They lie so hard and Sokka becomes the one betrothed to Fire Lord Zuko. He is sure there will be no consequences to the plan. Certainly not going to fall in love with the man he is lying to. At all. Nope indeedy, no love on the menu. Dang it.

Everything That I Am Not by Benedick | Rated T | 85k (Unfinished)

Sokka isn’t stupid. Not that his sister is, mind you (at least, he’d never call her that to her face now that she’s honed her waterbending), or any of the rest of Team Avatar, although sometimes it feels like he’s living in a different world from the rest of them — a world where running out of food means starving, and walking into a town full of firebenders with the Avatar in tow will get you killed, rather than help you free a beaten-down Earthbender colony.

Anyways.

Sokka isn’t stupid, which is why he laughs directly in Aunt Wu’s face when she tells him that he will marry the Fire Lord.

good morning ! today is event day and i personally could not be more hyped up for the next annual ministry gala ! originally envisioned by ex minister kingsley shacklebolt as a way of showcasing his new and improved ministry of magic, the gala has changed a little since antonin karkaroff was sworn in, but the 'fancy fuck off party' of it all remains the same. i'm heading out to work but i'll be polishing up the post when i get home and am hoping it won't be too late when it finally hits dash. either way, i'd love to take this opportunity to highlight some of our older canons that would be COOL to have around, especially during an event like this ! madam zabini, andromeda tonks, amycus carrow, rubeus hagrid, amos diggory, otto bagman, regulus black, madam rosmerta, mundungus fletcher, lucius malfoy, septima vector, ludo bagman, caradoc dearborn, molly weasley, horace slughorn or xenophilius lovegood ( malfoy ) are just a couple i've snagged off our canon list but there are still PLENTY of other options and i hope you'll swing on by and consider 'em !

Massive crowd attends the maiden edition of Property FM GOB3 Party in Cape Coast

The maiden edition of the Property GOB3 Party witnessed a multitude of participants at the Chapel Square in Cape Coast. The event which was intended to celebrate the efforts of farmers through healthy Ghanaian food happened on Farmer’s Day 1st December, 2023.

The massive crowd which was beyond the expectations of the organizers thronged the venue to witness a lot of amazing surprises. Amongst the activities for the event were sports and games like snooker, table tennis, draft, ludo, cards, television video games and flip the bottle. Emerging artists like Max Kartel, and Jahdone Ratty who are students at Adisadel College came to wow the participants with electrifying performances.

More than 1,000 participants which included kids and adults were served with delicious gari and beans with fried plantain and egg at the event. Speaking to MyNewsGh.com at the venue, Amansan Krakye who is the brain behind Property GOB3 Party said even without major sponsors the event was historic.

The 2023 DUMBO DANCE FESTIVAL will kick off with WHITE WAVE’s Opening Night GALA Celebration on Thursday, June 22nd at 7:00 pm. The evening will be hosted by Jessica and Carmine Marinaro, Co-Chairs, Gala Host Committee.

WHITE WAVE Dance will be honoring Jennifer Muller, she was a seminal creative influence for over 50 years, performing for José Limón and Louis Falco, launching her own company, Jennifer Muller/The Works, and building JMTW to such renowned success that it was dubbed the “American ambassador of dance” by The NY Times after countless international tours, and Danni Gee, Former Principal Dancer with Philadanco and Alvin Ailey, and current Director of Programming for The Joyce Theater who has championed and supported WHITE WAVE’s artistic vision for many years.

Welcoming speeches will be by WHITE WAVE Dance's Benefactors John Ryan and Ludo Scheffer!

Their opening remarks will be followed by six stunning contemporary dance troupes: Battery Dance, Yoshiko Chuma & The School Of Hard Knocks, Buglisi Dance Theatre, Jennifer Muller / The Works, and our own WHITE WAVE Young Soon Kim Dance Company.

September 16th, 1977 Room of Requirement Ludo Bagman’s ‘back to school’ party

             Gideon had not been at the party for long, and yet he had managed to consume enough alcohol to give himself a buzz, he had been dancing with familiar and unfamiliar faces alike, that was one of Gideon’s main traits, during a party everyone’s a friend. That and he swore he was an equal opportunity lover, after all who was he to deny them the gift of snogging the Gideon Prewett. But even he knew that he needed to slow down and refuel, if he was to keep up the same energy all night, so apologizing to his current dance partner, Gideon made a beeline for the snacks table. 

             ❝Oi Burbage❞ Gideon said having spotted Charity, ❝do you have any muggle alcohol with you?❞ the girl was always yakking about muggles and muggle culture, Gideon liked listening to her, at times even learning a few things, ❝not that Ludo didn’t deliver, but whatever people may say about muggles, they do make impressive alcohol!❞

Have a MoonToffee Fankid here in the year of our Lord 2022

I’m still kind of playing around with his story a bit, but some of the basics. Moon and Toffee had a relationship, bearing a hybrid son Gravitas. Shit happened and Toffee had to take their child and go into hiding, raising him alone back in Septarsis. Moon eventually marries River and has Star as the heir to the kingdom. When Star comes of age, events play out as they do in canon up until the wand is cleaved. Ludo still picks up the other half of the wand, but it is is stolen from him by a Septarian youth. Gravitas then goes to Earth and attacks Star at the party, which is what prompts her to return to Mewni, rather than Moon coming to get her. 

Details from here on out is where I’m still playing around with things, but a few notes: Toffee did not kill Comet, Gravitas hates magic like his dad and blames Star for his father’s apparent death, and upon Toffee’s resurrection it’s revealed Moon still has feelings for him. Despite some extreme sibling rivalry in the beginning, Gravitas and Star eventually warm up to each other and he’s very protective of his little sister.

An old AU plot I had for a SVTFOE fanfic that never got off the ground:

Star gets sent to St. Olga’s and gets completely brainwashed into being a proper princess.  Upon being sent home, Moon almost instantly notices something’s horribly wrong with her daughter (she’s a flawed mom, but she genuinely cares for Star after all), and decides to pay Miss Heinous a visit, first as the Queen and then undercover as a younger version of herself.  There, she quickly finds out the dark reality behind the so-called “school” and narrowly escapes brainwashing herself when the MHC storms the institution; Moon goes Butterfly mode and proceeds to utterly wreck the place.  In the aftermath, the horrified and guilt-stricken Queen finally decides to take Glossaryck’s advice and send Star to Earth—after extensive auditing, not wanting a repeat of her daughter’s traumatic experience.

Here, Marco enters the storyline as per canon: he’s called to the principal and introduced to Star, with some minor differences—none of the chaos of their first encounter, Marco brings the Butterflies to the house himself after being thoroughly notified of the princess’s troubled history, and an attempt by Ludo to steal the wand is instantly curb-stomped by the legendary Queen’s magical wrath.  The latter incident nearly pushes Moon into just bringing Star back and personally overseeing her training, but witnessing Marco’s physical prowess eventually convinces her to letting her daughter stay; that said, the queen gives our misunderstood bad boy a long and serious talk in the Diaz house regarding his responsibilities with Star (with not-so-subtle implications of a long and painful death should he try anything with her daughter), which the terrified teen quickly agrees to.  Moon also arranges for additional backup to provide training for Star’s new companion in the form of two additional squires to live with the Diazes—

Magical shenanigans ensue with Star’s spells often going haywire or cultural misunderstandings from the squires causing widespread disruption throughout Echo Creek.  Moon visits Earth every week to check up on her daughter, her visits creating their own brand of chaos for everyone involved.  Eventually Tom himself shows up for the Blood Moon Ball, but himself is visibly dismayed by the extent of Miss Heinous’s brainwashing and decides to bring Star’s companions along and just let his ex have fun at the event instead of forcibly bonding himself to her—Season 3’s shown that he genuinely cares for Star, so why not let that part of him show as well?   Surprisingly, it’s Tom, Star, and Marco who get bonded by the Blood Moon this time; none of them are sure why that happened, and all parties return to their respective homes deep in thought.

The very next day, Tom shows up on Marco’s doorstep as Echo Creek’s newest exchange student.  The latter is visibly nonplussed by the unexpected turn of events, but lets him in anyway.

More fun and adventures occur—Tom’s odd administrative duties as Prince of the Underworld (guest appearances from Janna who bonds with the demon), Hekapoo shows up and offers to grant Marco dimensional scissors in exchange for seven minutes in the Neverzone, Higgs and Kelly take the lead in the dimensional travails that ensue, some minor “friendly” rivalry between Marco and Tom over who’s the “better friend,” a budding friendship between Jackie and Marco begins (the Jarco date happens, but both eventually agree they aren’t cut out to be a couple just yet), and Star slowly, gradually starts to get her old self back.  As five women now frequent the Diaz household (H-Poo notwithstanding), Marco Harem jokes become popular much to his dismay—no thanks initially to Tom, who eventually stops after realising to his horror that he himself somehow ended up becoming a potential member.  Starco?  Everyone from the parents to the “harem members” have their suspicions, but it’s a slow burn—Marco respects Star’s boundaries too much to try anything, and Star herself hasn’t seemed to said anything (not that she says much, either way).

And as for Star?  In her mind, it’s pretty clear—if Janna and Jackie don’t claim their crushes for themselves, she’s going to bag Tom and Marco both if it’s the last thing she does.  After all, who says she can’t have a harem of her own?

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Ghana Export Promotion Authority, Hon. Samuel Kofi Dentu, held a recreational sporting event dubbed “KEEA FATHER’S DAY NKABOM CUP” on Sunday, June 18, 2023.

The event was geared towards celebrating fathers and uniting the good people of Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Municipality. During the launch of the event, the 2024 Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party in the KEEA Constituency admonished his constituents to remain united and work together towards the development of the constituency.

He assured his constituents of massive developmental projects and rapid transformation of the constituency when given the nod to represent them in parliament. He stated emphatically that the sporting event was organized to celebrate fathers within the municipality as the world celebrates Father’s Day.

The event, which was held at the Bonyinbima Park in Elmina, included football and other activities such as ludo, cards, draught, and table tennis.

At the end of the football match, Komenda beat Elmina to emerge as the 2023 champions for the maiden edition, winning a trophy. Players for both teams were honored with medals and several souvenirs, as well as cash prizes. The entire event was sponsored by Hon. Samuel Kofi Dentu, Deputy CEO of Ghana Export Promotions and 2024 KEEA-NPP Parliamentary Aspirant.
