“Liam, finish your food.” Zayne tells the three-year-old, pushing the plate towards the child. Liam pushes it away again, shaking his head in response. He’s eaten a good portion of the food, leaving behind the most important part. “You won’t grow big and strong if you don’t finish your vegetables.”
“I don’t want more.” The boy says, and Zayne sighs. How should he proceed? Zayne’s dealt with a lot in his life, though this has to be the hardest thing he’s dealt with so far. A human so small is causing him to gray earlier than usual.
“If you don’t finish, you won’t get dessert.” Zayne threatens, and it makes the child’s little eyebrows furrow. He crosses his tiny arms before claiming,
“This is why I love mommy more.”
Zayne doesn’t get hurt over trivial things. A child claiming that it has a favorite parent is something that is momentarily, and it’s often decided by which parent spoils them the most. So it shouldn’t hurt when his son says that you’re the child’s favorite parent, right?
“That’s fine. You’re still not getting dessert.” Zayne tries to play it off as if the words don’t sting. The child begins to eat his vegetables since he doesn’t want to miss out on the sweet treat. Even if he isn’t the favorite parent, he’s doing his job right.
Though things begin to change around the home, and you’re quick to notice. Zayne is more lenient, allowing Liam to get away with things that he would’ve gotten scolded for before. Many rules that had been set by Zayne have gone out the door. The child is doing just fine without the rules, but you can’t help but question your husband while you’re putting away the groceries,
“I thought you wouldn’t buy this brand of cereal for him because it’s too unhealthy.” You point out, examining the box of cereal that you hold in your hand. He hums in response.
“He pointed at it and said he wanted to try it so I got it for him.” He answers, and you furrow your brows. It’s so unlike him. You don’t know how you feel about this version of your husband, but you do miss him being overprotective over his son.
“What’s up with you?” You question, and he tries to act like this is completely normal behavior from him.
“What do you mean?” He responds, and you have to walk over to him. He’s in the middle of putting away something, and you snatch it from his hands and put it on the counter before your hands cup his face.
“Who are you and what did you do to my husband?” You watch him avert his gaze, which is a dead giveaway that something is wrong with him. “Why aren’t you being overprotective of Liam?”
“He said he loves you more.” He admits, and it makes you want to laugh, but you hold it back. It melts your heart to see just how much Zayne values his son’s opinion, but he should know that he shouldn’t take everything to heart. “ Maybe I’m doing too much, and I don’t want him to hate me.”
“Liam, come here, honey!” You yell, and while you wait for the three year old to make his way to the kitchen, you inform Zayne of a crucial detail, “I scolded him earlier for something.”
“What?” Liam asks as he enters the kitchen. You let go of Zayne and look at your son.
“Who do you love more, mommy or daddy?” You question, and the child looks back and forth between you and Zayne. And just as you predicted, he points to Zayne.
“Daddy isn’t mean.” Liam tells you, obviously still mad about what you did earlier. You roll your eyes while Zayne sheepishly smiles. And he really let his son’s words affect him this much?
“Why are you smiling?” You don’t even have to look back at Zayne to know that he is. He lets out a chuckle, relieved to know that Liam doesn’t actually have a favorite parent.
“Sorry, my love.” Zayne kisses your temple before reaching for the cereal that he just bought, and throwing it in the trash. He won’t be needing that anymore. “I have to clean out the pantry as well.”
You walk over to the pantry to see what he means, and your eyes widen at the amount of junk food that he bought to please his son. You can’t help but laugh, noticing the lengths your husband will go to make sure that he’s the favorite parent.

study session | charles leclerc
summary: charles misses you (not that he’d admit it), but when studying keeps you too distracted, he finds a way to steal your attention. request: yessss! thank you hope y’all like it
Charles has always been needy when it comes to you. He won’t admit it, of course, but the evidence is clear.
Like now—where he’s supposedly at your apartment to “keep you company” while you study, but in reality, he’s just here to be a menace.
You’re sitting cross-legged on the floor, textbooks and notes spread around you, highlighter tucked between your fingers as you try to focus. Charles, meanwhile, is sprawled across your bed, bored out of his mind.
"Are you done yet?"
You don’t even look up. "No, Charles."
A beat of silence.
"How about now?"
You sigh, highlighting another sentence. "No."
Another pause. Then, he groans dramatically. "This is torture. I came all this way just to be ignored?"
"You came here on your own," you remind him, flipping a page.
"You should be grateful,” he mutters. “Most people would kill for my presence.”
"Lucky me." You snort.
You don’t have to look up to know he’s pouting. And then—silence.
Suspicious silence.
You finally glance up, only to choke on air.
Charles is standing in the middle of your room, pulling his shirt over his head.
“Go on, doctor,” Charles smirks, stretching as he leans back on his hands. "Start your examination."
You refuse to look at him. Absolutely not. You have textbooks to read, notes to review, an exam to pass.
“Charles,” you grit through clenched teeth, gripping your pen just a little too hard. “Put your shirt back on.”
“What?” He blinks, feigning innocence. "You need a realistic study session, no?"
You groan, slamming your textbook shut and covering your face with it. “You’re impossible.”
Charles just laughs and that makes your stomach flip. He’s doing this on purpose.
You peek over your book, only to find him watching you, amused. His entire posture is relaxed, like he has all the time in the world to mess with you. And he does—he always does this when he’s bored, finding new ways to distract you, tease you, get under your skin.
“So where’s my most important bone?” he teases, tilting his head as if he’s actually being helpful.
Your brain malfunctions.
“W-What?”
“My most important bone,” Charles repeats, eyes sparkling with mischief. “I assume you know where it is, no?”
Your eyes widen, and Charles’ smirk only grows as he watches your mind go straight to hell.
“You are—” you huff, trying to shove him away, but he catches your wrist, grinning.
“Careful, doctor.” He tuts playfully. “You wouldn’t want to hurt your patient, would you?”
Your patience is hanging by a thread.
“You are not my patient,” you mutter.
Charles hums, pretending to think. “But I could be. Imagine, I come in with an injury, and you have to take care of me. You’d be so gentle, no?”
You swallow hard. “You’re so annoying.”
Charles leans in way too close, looking entirely too smug for someone who’s supposed to be helping you study. “I just like being a good student. Ask me anything.”
You sigh. “Fine. What’s the largest bone in the body?”
Charles opens his mouth, then closes it. “Uhhhh—”
You smirk. “You don’t know, do you?”
“I do,” he says defensively. “It’s… the leg one.”
You roll your eyes. “The femur, dumbass.”
Charles gasps dramatically. “You’re such a mean doctor.”
“I’d be a lot nicer if you actually let me study.”
Charles grins, but before he can retort, your phone vibrates with a text.
You glance at Charles, only to find him reading over your shoulder, his eyes narrowing at the texts.
“Who’s texting you?” he asks, far too casual.
You lock your phone. “No one.”
Charles squints at you. “No one?”
“No one,” you repeat firmly.
A pause. Then—
“Is it that med student you always talk about?”
Your head snaps up. “What?”
“That guy,” Charles says, crossing his arms. “The one you’re always studying with.”
You blink. “You mean Liam?”
“Oh, so his name is Liam.”
“Charles,” you say slowly, biting back a laugh. “Are you jealous?”
Charles scoffs. “No.”
You grin. “You totally are.”
“I’m not,” he insists, jaw clenching.
You lean in slightly, smirking. “Charles, you’re jealous.”
Charles avoids your gaze, muttering something in French under his breath. He’s 100% jealous.
You tilt your head playfully. “Would it make you feel better if I told you I don’t even like Liam like that?”
Charles perks up immediately. “You don’t?”
“No,” you laugh.
Charles nods once, clearly pleased. Then, without missing a beat—
“So I’m your favorite?”
You stare. “That’s not what I said.”
“But it’s what you meant.”
“Oh my God.”
He grins. “Just admit it, doctor. I’m your favorite patient.”
You groan, shoving him off the bed.
Charles lands with a thud, laughing as he sprawls out on your bedroom floor like he doesn’t have a care in the world. You, however, are one exasperated breath away from throwing your textbook at his stupidly perfect face.
“I’m trying to study,” you remind him, pointing at your notes as if that’ll make him take you seriously.
Charles, still lying on your floor, stretches his arms above his head, shamelessly showing off the definition in his abs. “And I’m trying to help.”
“You’re being a menace.” You roll your eyes, refusing to look.
“I like that you think I’m distracting.” He smirks.
You groan. “You’re insufferable.”
Charles props himself up on his elbows, watching you. “Come on, just admit it.”
“Admit what?”
“That I’m your favorite.”
You don’t answer.
Because the problem isn’t that he’s wrong.
The problem is that he’s absolutely right.
Charles has been your favorite for a long, long time. But admitting that? Giving him the satisfaction? Not happening.
“I’m not answering that,” you mumble, flipping through your notes as if your entire body isn’t burning up from his gaze.
Charles smirks, sensing your hesitation.
“Okay,” he says, getting up and stretching once more—because apparently, he needs to remind you how ridiculously good-looking he is. Then, before you can react, he plops down beside you again, way too close, his bare shoulder brushing yours.
Your breath catches.
“Let’s do a test,” Charles says suddenly, his voice dipping slightly.
You blink. “What?”
“A test,” he repeats, his eyes glinting with something dangerous, something that makes your heart speed up. “I’ll quiz you. If you get it wrong, you admit I’m your favorite.”
You narrow your eyes. “And if I get it right?”
Charles smirks. “Then I’ll put my shirt back on.”
Your mouth opens, then closes. It’s a trap.
Because either way, you lose.
Still, your competitive streak won’t let you back down. “Fine.”
Charles grins, shifting even closer. “Alright, doctor,” he muses. “What’s the smallest bone in the human body?”
You exhale sharply, relieved. He chose an easy one.
“The stapes,” you answer confidently.
Charles tilts his head, eyes flickering with amusement. “And where is it?”
“In the middle ear.”
“Are you sure?”
You give him a pointed look. “Yes, Charles. I’m sure.”
He laughs, holding up his hands in mock surrender. “Fine, fine. You win this round.”
You smirk. “Shirt. On. Now.”
Charles grabs his shirt… but doesn’t move to put it on. Instead, he leans in, his voice dropping into something softer, something dangerous.
“Last chance,” he murmurs. “Are you sure you don’t want to lose?”
Your brain short-circuits.
Your entire body betrays you—the way your breath hitches, the way your fingers tighten around your notes, the way you can’t seem to tear your eyes away from his mouth.
And Charles? He sees it all.
He knows.
You clear your throat, forcing yourself to look back at your textbook. “I think we’re done here.”
Charles chuckles, finally pulling his shirt over his head. “For now.”
He leans back on your bed, clearly satisfied with himself.
And you?
You pretend like you’re not thinking about his lips.

"Liam.. I thought- we- we are friends...?"
"We were friends, (Y/N). I'm just bored of you and you are of no help for me, really."
You and Liam were best friends since primary cause instead of ignoring him for his stuttering, you actually held out a hand and help him get over it bit by bit.
When Liam finally got rid of his stuttering in the first year of highschool, you were so happy for him, even felt proud. He begin having more friends, become more mature and handsome, his popularity even hit the peak after he participant in the school's talent show as a singer.
But as time goes by, you took noticed of his behaviors and actions towards you. From a gentle guy you once know, he became more harsh and occasionally lash out at you when you try to ask him to have a conversation.
It seems like the Liam you once known was not your Liam anymore, he's everybody's Liam except for you.
But you were there, you were there for him everytime he make a progress, reach a milestone and succeed a goal he wanted to achieve. You were there, on the stadium, in the crowd, by the guests lane, always watching and look out for your once to be best friend.
All of that for a sentence that would haunt you for the rest of your life, rip apart your most painful old wound that no amount of comfort can heal. That day, at the park you two would always hang out when you were little, Liam, out of all people was the one who cut the string that tied the two of you for over 10 years.
"Maybe I should've listened to the others when they said you were fucking useless. And now that I can confirm it myself, yeah, you're fucking worthless, (Y/N)."
--------------------------
Yandere ex best friend, after graduated from college, succeed in the economic field and become a very famous CEO, a man of every women's dream and the man that all the other men fighting to be one day. He's hardworking, a true gentleman and a man of words, he make impressions not create disappointments. To colleagues, he's the boss that every office workers wished to have, to business partners, he shines like a true leader that leads all the cooperations to succeed.
Yandere ex best friend despite in all of his glory, hides his dark and painful past with his savior, the person he suppose to return the favor to, not to hurt them or be a bastard to. But he did, he hurt you and over all became a rude jerk to you just because he's so greedy for all the glory attention he got back then that he wanted to get rid of a dirty stain like you. He's wrong, he knew now but when he tried to turn around, you were no longer there and for the past 3 years, finding you seems like an impossible task, like you just vanish, completely vanished without a trace to track.
Yandere ex best friend suddenly got news from the workers whispers that one of his company's small agency recently hired a new secretary that boosted that agency value up so much that even the workers needed to talk about it so after dismissed all the fuss going on, Liam decided to just check it out himself.
Yandere ex best friend were just shocked and baffled by the fact that you were that secretary everyone was fussing over about, while you have a really warm look for everyone in the agency, the moment he stepped inside the place, it seems like you just put on a completely new face to greet him. Its not a annoyed face or a furious face, your expression was juts cold to say at best and even a hint of uncomfortable, fear at worst. He understands why you have those expressions directly towards him but he couldn't not notice how his heart stings whenever you look at him with those lifeless (eye color) orbs.
Yandere ex best friend immediately order the agency's director to let him have you as his personal secretary and become his right hand. Of course, when the news got out, all the workers there were just shock but it's a negative shock, they were finally have another hidden gem as their colleague just for the highest tier to came and take them away again.
--------
"Sir Liam Rigus, we understand that we are holding a hidden gem but you can not take them away out of thin air...!"
Your boss argue, his face is showing various kinds of emotions right now, you might seems normal but inside, you are just another disaster, all the negative thoughts and emotions together making you want to break down but don't dare to. You can not show your weakness to your enemy, the CEO of your company, the hand holding your agency on a hair string.
"Unfortunately director Ron, my words will go as planned, no argue."
And just like that, you were taken away from your new home without your consent and begin forced to work somewhere else, a new environment where you not even sure if anyone there gonna take a good impression of you or not. You can only pray.
--------
Yandere ex best friend ordered his personal guards to escort you and bring your belongings into his penthouse as this is where you're gonna be working from now on. With your new room next to his, work in his private office and have to share every meals with him, to you, this is a living nightmare no more no less.
Yandere ex best friend loves how your hand feels whenever you hand him the daily paperworks and random documents, he feels so content just by staring at you while you're working, the best thing for him is, you're just too focus on your work to even notice a pair of love sick yellow eyes looking at you.
Yandere ex best friend always bring you to your room whenever you passed out on your work table or accidentally fall asleep when you're talking to him about work stuffs. After tucking you in your bed, he would always leave a few kisses here and there, even check your body if you're eating well lately or not, sometimes he would just sits by your bed and stares into your cute sleeping face or some rare occasions, he'd even climb onto the bed to sleep with you. He doesn't worry about getting caught because he knows well you're a real deep sleeper, he has been watching you much and long enough to know everything, once you're asleep, you won't even know an earthquake is happening so how'd you know if he has done something more than just stare or touch?
Yandere ex best friend was having a super terrible day and you took noticed of that so you tried to not bother him at all with the paperworks despite struggling with it so bad. A maid happened to bake some sweets, you also remember that he always consume sweet food whenever he stressed out, so you give in and decided to bring him a plate of cookies but you didn't expect it to turn out so badly.
--------
"CAN YOU LEAVE ME ALONE!? AREN'T YOU USELESS ENOUGH ALREADY!?"
Was all that you heard before the plate of cookies on your hands fell to the ground, shattered into pieces as the sound echos through the quiet office room. You felt as if all of your abusive memories came rushing back into your very soul as your hearing turns into loud voices speaking negatives into your head one by one more and more. You don't know, you don't feel anything, you don't event know when did you ran back into your room, lock the door tight or how panicked the maids were when you ran down the hallway with blood all over your bare legs or how horrified Liam was when he snap into his senses as he tried to catch you stop running but all he can do and is doing now is banging on the door, try to break in and stop you from hurting yourself even more.
"(Y/N)!!! Please open the door!!! Please, I'm sorry!!! (Y/N)!!!!!"
Everything turns into a blurred out vision.
The next time you opened your eyes, you found yourself on the hospital bed with your legs unable to move. Your doctor told you that due to the amount of blood lost from your legs and how damaged it was from the accident, you're completely lost your walking forever and now even have to rely on someone to take care of you. For the first time in so long, you thought about finding 'freedom' again but before you can even grab any sharp objects, Liam walks in, his eyes completely lock in on you.
"Are you happy?"
You ask him, giving him a hopeless smile with your lifeless eyes as tears begin falling down your face continuously.
"You must be so hapoy to see me like this- I bet you couldn't wait for this day to come- surely y-"
you can only laugh lightly
"(Y/N)."
He crouched down onto the hospital floor as he hold your face tenderly in his hands, wiping away any tear falling down and look straight in your eyes.
"I swear that from now on, I'll be responsible for you and for what I've done, you can just rely on me only from now on and I'm sorry."
As he awaits for your answer as you can only laugh lightly in a dying tone as if mocking him that what he's trying to do is so stupid and time wasting.
But he never go back on his words as for the next days, weeks, months then years, he really do as he said, taking care of you from A to Z without even complaining one bit but there's one thing he forbid you to do is work, he has enough to take care of you and he doesn't want you to overwork yourself anymore, he only needs you to relax and do whatever you want, of course, with a maid or a guard nearby to watch you 24/7.
After 2 years, you begin open up to him again, you begin talking to him again and slowly, you and him just turn into the pair of best friends like how you two were back in the days but some times, in the back of your head, a voice would scream out to you, telling you that you need to escape, run away from him but how far can you even go with this condition anyway so you dismissed that voice even though that voice is yours itself.
-------------------------------
Liam hugs you close to him as you let out soft snoring, deep asleep. He gives you a love smile and he plays with your hair.
"You don't know how long I've been waiting for a night like this to come, darling."
He traces his finger across your closed eyes then your nose and your lips. They all so delicate to him as if he's holding a flower in his arms.
"You know... when we found you unconscious in your bedroom after the broke down that door, it was a perfect opportunity for me to finally tied you here with me forever even though I felt like I should just kill myself when I realized I hurt you."
Liam put his head in the crook of your neck, inhaling your comfort smell while kissing your bare shoulder.
"Your injuries weren't that servere to be honest, I knew you can recover with that amount of injuries but then you will have the chance to escape, to get away from me, leave me and abandon me again. I can't let that happen..! You know."
He then reach up to give you a deep kiss in the lips, as he parts away, he can see your cheeks turn pink from the lack of oxygen but you still deep asleep despite that.
"So I may have interfered with making you... lost your ability to walk. I didn't mean to hurt you with that- it just! Just... I wanted to keep you here but now you're here, 'you' are back also, so I can not be happier."
He laughs out a rather happy but maniac laughter as he watch his darling like admiring a gorgeous painting.
"I love you, (Y/N) and I'll make sure you know that, sooner or later."

Priority
Word count: 4.2k
Warnings: none
Summary: Bodhi is in love with you. Hopelessly in love. Unfortunately for him he can't say anything about it.
If you asked Bodhi when he first met you two things were certain. One, he would tilt his head to the side and raise an eyebrow in question. Two, he would give a small shrug of his shoulder before saying “Uh I don’t know?”. His statement always sounded more like a question. In his defence why would he know the answer to that question. There is no point in time where Bodhi can pinpoint the moment you entered his life. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on who you asked, you have always been there. Always a constant in his life and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Oh come on Bo don’t be like this.” You tilt your head slightly, your lashes batting so strongly he swears that there is a draft in here. Bodhi doesn’t budge, he keeps his arms crossed over his chest with a slight twitch in his clenched jaw. “You know I didn’t mean it right?” The teasing in your voice softens, just a little, just enough to know you really didn’t mean anything by your comment. “As cool as Xaden is, I could never replace you with him.” You pause for a moment before adding “His ego is too big for me.” Bodhi glances down at where you were sitting on the ground next to the chair he was sitting in. Bodhi wanted to say something sarcastic right back at you, but he couldn’t, the jealousy burning in his throat wouldn’t allow him to. Even if he could say anything he wouldn’t be able to; the way you were looking up at him, like you needed him to know you were only joking. Like what he thought truly mattered to you, it rendered him speechless.
Your friends- Liam, Garrick, Xaden and himself were spread out in Xadens room talking about nothing and everything all at once. Garrick being the instigator he is just had to ask you who you would pick to be stranded with and of course you being you said his cousin. He knew you were just trying to mess with him. To get under his skin. And it worked, of course it did. Bodhi would never admit it to anybody but he felt like he was always walking in Xadens shadow. Always second best, never good enough to be picked first. Your lighthearted teasing didn't make him feel any better, not when the jealousy hit harder than it ever had before.
Bodhi said nothing as you stared up at him. He stared down at you as you looked up at him, a frown was starting to replace your teasing smile. He hated that look, despised it really. If there was one thing he couldn’t stand, it was seeing you sad. “Are you really going to give me that look?” he muttered, and you didn’t miss the annoyance painting his voice. But the moment he finally looked at you again you knew he truly didn’t mean it. With your eyes locked onto his nothing else in the room existed besides you. God he could never be mad at you, not when you look at him like that.
The glare he sent Garrick wasn’t missed by you but you couldn’t help yourself when you leaned your body to rest fully against his leg. Placing your head against his thigh. Bodhi would never reject your touch, not when it was so familiar. He craved the feeling of your body against his, more often then he would care to admit. With Bodhi ignoring you, Liam picked up the conversation, you were trying to listen but all of your attention was on Bodhi. Truly you felt bad about hurting his feelings. While he would never admit that you did, you could see it in the way his jaw set, hands flexing against his arms and his eyes flickering away from yours to hide his hurt. Bodhi could feel the guilt coming off of you in waves. Without even thinking about it he gently brushes his fingers through your hair. He may be talking to Garrick but you knew his attention was on you. This was his way of letting you know that he accepted your apology. The words “i’m sorry” never tumbled out of your lips but the way you leaned further into him and periodically glanced up at him in worry was an apology to him. Words weren’t needed, they never have been, at least not between the two of you.
“Bo?” The light nudge against his legs pulls his eyes away from Garrick and back to you. “Yeah?” His response was equally as quiet as yours was. His voice felt thick with an emotion he refused to acknowledge. He didn’t stop his ministrations. Instead he found that spot behind your ear and rubbed gentle circles on it before resting his hand on the base of your neck. His fingers still tangled in your hair. “Ya’ know I would never replace you right?” The guilt mixed with an undercurrent of pleading broke his heart. “I know sweetheart.” His whispered words sound a little rough even to him. But he meant what he said. Gently he squeezes the back of your neck in an unspoken promise. He wasn’t going anywhere, no matter what you were to follow.
“You couldn’t get rid of me even if you tried.” His words were an afterthought but he meant them. Bodhi bent forward slightly to reach eye level with you. His other hand that wasn’t tangled in your hair cupped your cheek softly turning your face to look at him. The limited space between you forces a sharp inhale of air into your lungs. Bodhi didn’t miss your near silent gasp or the way your eyes flickered over his face before looking at his lips and then back to his eyes. “Sweetheart I’m gonna need you to stop worrying in that pretty little head of yours, ok?” His voice was quiet but you felt them as if they had been screamed at you. That nickname he gave you never failed to make your heart skip a beat. He watched as you took in a shaky breath before lightly nodding your head. “Ok.” Glancing between your eyes he waited until he saw the guilt slip away and he swore love replaced it.
He needed to pull away, put some space between the two of you before he did something he would regret. Leaning forward just a bit more he angled your head up just slightly so he could place a kiss against your hairline. His lips lingered for a moment before pulling away. His eyes found yours again and you saw the small smirk forming on his lips. Maybe he should have kissed you on the lips he thinks to himself, especially with the way a flush of red makes its way to your cheeks. He wonders what would happen if he kissed you. After a light tap against your cheek he removes his hand and sits back in his chair, refocused on the conversation you hadn’t been aware of. His hand never leaves your hair though. With Bodhi’s focus back on whatever conversation was happening you lay your head back down onto his leg. The gentle kiss you place against his leg is enough for his brain to short circuit. The glide of his hand in your hair stops mid stroke. Bodhi feels his breath hitch in his throat while he was frozen for a second. Without thinking he hand tightens its hold on your hair before releasing once more.
Bodhi has never been more grateful to not have your eyes on him. The way his jaw tightens. The way his chest rises and falls just a little bit quicker than it should for sitting in a chair. He had to close his eyes for a moment to collect himself. Bodhi knew he was protective of you, maybe even a little obsessed with you but god damn if he wasn’t in love with you. Bodhi's heart sang from the feeling of your lips against his body. And he hates to admit it but for a second he thought about what your lips would feel like against his leg without pants blocking your way. After taking the moment to collect himself he clears his throat pulling your attention back to him.
The way you bat your eyes at him in anticipation causes him to clear his throat yet again. “I know you were joking but just don’t do that again ok baby?” He chuckles softly at the way your eyes widen and cheeks flush even brighter while casting your eyes downward in hopes to hide the shock you are feeling. There is nothing Bodhi loves more than seeing that shy bashful smile grace your lips all because of him.
“Where the hell is she?” Cuirs talons curled into the wet stone as Bodhi's voice rang out across the flight field. The grey clouds unleashed gallons of freezing droplets of rain upon every rider. Constricting leathers tightened with their newfound water weight. Across the blurred Bodhi could make out the red and brown dragon that was a part of your group but the emerald green scorpion tail dragon he was so used to seeing was nowhere to be found. Everyone from the training exercise had returned. Everyone but you. Time seemed to slow to a screeching halt as Bodhi took in the field before him. Short quick breaths pounded against his ribcage. Panic raised with bail in the back of his throat. “No..no” A panicked gasp of air cut off his train of thoughts. He was the only person who hadn’t dismounted. “Xaden! Garrick!” Bodhi could hear the raw desperation in his voice, he knew that other riders had heard it too, but he couldn’t bring himself to care. Not when everyone had returned but you. He would follow you to the end of the world without you ever having to ask him. It was no surprise to his two closest friends that he was willing to bring the wrath of the professors upon himself by defying orders and heading back out. He would do anything to find you. And if he found you- no he wouldn’t let himself think about that.
The terror gripping his voice propelled his friends back to their own dragons. Both men had done a quick scan of the field and knew what was wrong. They would have known without even having to look. Bodhi never lost control of himself no matter what. Unless it involved you, then all bets were off. Bodhi couldn’t control his protective instincts even when he tried. So he stopped trying.
Just as Garrick and Xaden were about to remount the powerful distinct sound of dragon wings could be heard approaching from a distance. Only one thing could be possible. You were returning with Aella. Once again time seemed to slow down. Minutes felt like hours. Every second that passed felt like a lifetime. The fall of rain seemed to double within seconds blurring his vision even more than it already was. Howling wind whipped the rain in all directions forcing other riders to lower their heads or raise their arms to at least protect their faces. Bodhi did neither. He wouldn’t not when the sound of wind being beaten into submission by powerful and strong wings could be heard from mere miles away. You were coming. He could feel it in his bones. It had to be you- there was no other possibility for Bodhi. Finally there was a shadow of a dragon and the vice grip his ribs had on his lungs loosened allowing him to take a deeper breath just by a fraction. Green. He saw green. It was a muted green but it was green nonetheless.
Dark grey heavy clouds limited his visibility but he knew what he saw. Rain was being pelted down towards the earth with the force of Aellas wings. Bodhi was a part of those that were in Aellas path but he could not care less. Not if that meant you were safe. He would stand under the frozen dagger feeling rain for his whole life if that meant you were safe. Gracefully Aella landed in the middle of the flight field where most of the other dragons had previously occupied it. He was moving before he even knew he was. He was on Cuir one moment and the next he was sliding down his own green dragon without an ounce of grace. “Y’n!” The waiver in his voice didn’t stop, no, it traveled throughout his whole body. The waiver transformed into different things. Trembling hands, burning eyes from unshed tears and lungs that were on fire from how quickly he was running towards you.
Something was wrong. If anyone possed elegance and grace even in the world of dragon riding it was you. The clumsy tumble down Aellas leg combined with the way you landed with a thud forcing you to roll onto your shoulder to prevent yourself from breaking a bone was anything but normal for you. Sharp painful breaths pumped his legs faster. He had to be faster. He couldn’t get to you soon enough. After what couldn’t have been more than two minutes Bodhi was finally in front of your bent over body. You were tipped over at the hips facing the ground. Both of your elbows rested upon your legs while you cradled your head in your heads. Something was wrong. Without thinking Bodhi unraveled your body forcefully crashing your body into his chest. “Thank god you are ok. I thought…. I thought you were.” Bodhi couldn't bring himself to say the words, not when his eyes burned and his lungs ached and he couldn’t stop the way his hands were shaking. “Are you ok?” He pulled your body away from his slightly to scan your body for injuries. Subconsciously his hands moved to cup your cheeks. “What's wrong baby? I need to know so I can help. But you gotta tell be baby.” Whispered words tumbled from his lips causing your eyes to meet his. Wordlessly you gripped his hands and pulled them away from his face. Silently he watched as you unzipped your flight jacket and pulled the side of your shirt up exposing a large bleeding gash decorating your skin.
“Who did this to you?” It wasn’t a question. It was a demand. Nobody touched you. Nobody dug their dragger along your skin and didn’t pay for it. Bodhi was going to kill whoever did this to you. That was a promise. Bodhi was unable to pull his eyes away from your side as he spoke. “Sweetheart we need to get you to the healers, ok?” Your silence forced his eyes back towards yours. Water was pooling on your waterline and your lips where shaking in pain. Tenderly he pulled you back into his chest. One of his hands found purchase in your sopping wet hair while the other rested upon your neck. “It’s ok I’ve got you baby. I’ve got you. I won’t let anything like this happen to you again I promise.”
Bodhi hadn’t moved from the chair in his room. He couldn’t bring himself to, not when you were laying in his bed. Sleep had pulled you away from him. Not that he could blame you of course. He would never blame you. “Bo?” Your quiet voice pulled his attention away from his plot for revenge and onto you. “Yeah sweet girl?” He matched his voice to yours not wanting to destroy the peaceful environment that your presence had created. Outside his window it was pitch black but inside of his room warm flickers of light bounced around the room casting you in a beautiful light. Granted you were always beautiful in his eyes but that didn’t mean that he couldn’t enjoy what was before him. Wordlessly you watched as he made his way over to his bed. He perched himself on the edge of the bed right by your hip. Your watchful eyes traced his movement until you couldn’t. His hands where once again in your hair. Carefully he moved his hand down until it rested on your neck. He couldn’t help himself from touching your cheek. Lightly his thumb ran back and forth against your cheek.
“Will you lay with me?” His room was not warm by any means but suddenly it felt like a hundred degrees warmer and he felt the blood rise to his face. He was sure that there was a flush to his face. He had laid in bed with you a thousand of times before so he wasn’t sure why he was suddenly nervous. Deep down he knew why. Some part of your relationship with him had changed and he wasn’t sure what that meant. He wasn’t sure if he had to prepare to mourn all the ways he wished he could of had you. Swallowing the lump in his throat he glances out the window and follows the path of a raindrop along the window until he couldn’t follow it anymore. Turning back to your he finds your sharp eyes already resting upon him. Forcefully he cleared his throat once more before answering. “Of course, you never have to ask me that.” His voice wasn’t a whisper but it wasn’t normal speaking volume either.
Gently he pulls back the blanket helping you scooch over in the bed making more space for him before he climbed in. With a wince you pull yourself up and pat the pillow behind your head. Expectantly you look at him. A laugh falls from his lips “You could of just said you wanted to use my arm as a pillow you know that right?” The shake of his head does nothing to move his smile. “Why would I do that? You should know this by now.” Your words floated into the space above him. “You’re right I should know better.” This time it's a huff of air that leaves you instead. Bodhi missed the sound of your laugh but he knew it would be too painful for you to laugh at the moment so he enjoyed what he had. “Obviously I’m always right.” Your words were cut off with a wince. Bodhi went to push himself up so he could help you move but you shook your head and placed your palm on his chest.
Following your silent command he lays back down to his previous position, A soft grunt and a heavy sigh of relief later you were pressed against his side. One of your legs crossed against his chest and the other rested against his leg. Your head rested on his chest right above his heart. He waited until you were comfortable to move. Softly he moves to rest one hand below the cut on your side while the other finds its way to your bare leg. Absentmindedly his thumb begins to rub patterns along your leg. A few minutes of silence had passed before your voice filled the room. “Bo?” Slowly he opens his eyes to find yours are already looking at him. “Yeah?’ His eyes traced over your face while you fought to find the right words. He always knew you were stunning but here in his room with the gentle light dancing upon your face, your beauty took his breath away. “What happened out there Bodhi? The use of his first name caught his attention before the rest of your words did. You only used his first name when you were serious. “Huh?”
The words tumbled out of his lips before he could even stop them. Internally he cringes at his answer. “What happened out there with you? I’ve never seen you like that before. You were so- so panicked. You never panic.” Bodhi knew in this moment that it was now or never. He had been so close to telling you out on the flight field but he couldn’t not when you desperately needed to be seen by the healers. Bodhi sucked in a deep breath in hopes of calming his nerves. It did not. “I panicked because it was you. You hadn’t come back. Everyone was back but you and just the thought alone of something having happened to you worried me sick. But then you finally showed up, right as I was about to go searching you for and at first all I felt was relief. Until I watched you dismount from Aella and then the fear took over all over again. I could tell something was wrong but I didn’t know what it was and all I could think about was something finally taking you from me. And I… I can’t stand that thought. It makes me sick.” Bodhi's words came to a stop but still you said nothing. You could tell that there was more he wanted to say, more he needed to say, but he needed the space to find the right words. Without realizing it you had begun to rub soothing circles on bodhi's chest. Bodhi felt the warmth of your hand against his chest. The gentle comforting touch of your hand upon him was more than he could ask for.
“I am so in love with you. I have been for years. I could never bring myself to tell you. I worried about what it would do to our relationship but after seeing you like that. I can’t hold it in anymore.” Bodhi's hand encased yours pulling it to rest on his cheek but he didn’t remove his hand. If this is the last time he gets to have you like this he was going to take every moment presented to him. “I love you. And I understand if you don't feel the same. But I can;t keep it in anymore. I am so incredibly in love with you.” A beat of silence passed while your eyes bounce between his lips and eyes. Finally after what felt like forever a laugh rang out into the once silent room. Out of all the reactions Bodhi was expecting this was definitely not one of them. His raised eyebrow did all the talking for him.
“Oh Bo.” A sigh mixed with a breathless laugh tumbled from your lips. “We are such idiots. I am in love with you too. I have been since I met you but I never said anything because I was worried about it not working out.” A laugh of disbelief rumbled in his chest. He removed his hand from your wrist to rub his eyes for a long moment before laughing again. He pulled his hand down his face before placing it back on your thigh. “I can’t believe this. I have been on the verge of losing my mind for a year and a half because I was worried just for this to happen.” Bodhi shakes his head in disbelief once more. Even though he wished he had known this information earlier he didn’t mind. Not if it meant what he hoped it did. “Why didn’t you ever say anything?” Giggling, you lightly shook your head. Even though the movement was gentle it was enough to push a few hairs into your face. Without thinking he pulled his hand away from your leg and brought it out from the blanket to push your hair behind your ear. God he could never get used to the sight in front of him.
A bashful smile painted your face along with a deep blush. “I was way too nervous to tell you first.” Your answer pulled a laugh from the two of you. After a few seconds both of your laughter had died down leaving silence to fill its space instead. “So I should have grown a pair and done it first a long time ago is what you're saying.” The slight shrug of your shoulders didn’t match the coy smile you were sporting. “You said it not me.” Once again you shrugged not before laughing again. This time it was against the pec of his chest. “So I should always make the first move, is what I’m hearing?” Quickly you glanced up to find his eyes already upon you. Shifting you move to hide more of your face in his chest but he doesn’t let you get far. “I mean if that's how you feel that it then sure.” Bodhi knew when you got shy you tried to hide from prying eyes but fortunately for him he wasn’t subject to the same rules as everybody else. Softly his hand finds its rightful place against your cheek and neck. The gentle guide of his hands pulls your face up to his. You watch as his eyes drop to your lips before coming back up. “Well if that's the case then you won’t have any problem with this.” Bodhi lifted himself while bringing your face closer to his. With one last look at your eyes wide in surprise he closes his own eyes when he felt the softness of your lips against his own. Slowly your lips found a rhythm against Bodhis and he swore there was no better feeling in the world than this.
Finally when both of you ran out of air did you pull away from each other. Bodhi was watching you when your eyelids finally peeled apart from each other. “I think you should do that again just so I can make sure there is no problem.” The laugh that tumbled out of Bodhi was loud and full of joy. He could feel the smirk on his face but he made no move to stop it. Not when you were looking at him like that. Right before your lips met his .That laugh that he loved graced the room once again. He would hate to cut off the laugh that he loves so much but the feel of your lips against his takes priority.

_______________________________________________
I open my eyes and stop leaning against the bus window to my right when my music stops and my phone starts ringing.
Our team’s physical therapist, Jackson, cracks an eye open next to me before settling back into his seat. We’re about the same age and he and I have been friends since he helped me get back in shape for hockey while recovering from my Ghostface injuries.
I pull out my phone and chuckle softly at the incoming video call from Tara.
“Hey,” I answer with a tired smile. “How’s it going?”
Tara’s face lights up at the sight of me. “Hi! It’s going great! We just finished unboxing everything and Sam is out to grab some lunch. How are you?”
I adjust my headphones a bit so I can lean back against the window. “Good, but tired. We’re just getting back from a game.”
“Did you win?” she asks with a raised eyebrow and when I nod her smile brightens.
It’s been two months since I moved from Woodsboro to Boston and since then a lot has changed.
Sam moved into my old apartment when Christina Carpenter kicked her out which led to Tara cutting ties with her mother as well, and now they’re both living there with me being their landlord since I own the place.
I didn’t ask for any rent at first when Sam started living there because she had trouble finding a job, but now she works at a local gym an old friend of my dad’s owns, and she insists on paying some rent.
Other than that the two of them keep me updated on each other’s wellbeing and Sam has really proven that she wants to make things up to me by constantly checking in on me. She also helped me move my classes online and even went so far as to take care of putting flowers on my parents grave on the anniversary of their death a month ago.
We have yet to talk about our feelings for each other —more like my feelings for her— but it just seems wrong to do it over the phone.
Good thing I’m visiting them over Christmas in two months. I’m super nervous about getting everything out in the open, but we have to talk.
I can’t not know how she feels anymore. Either she straight up tells me she doesn’t feel the same way which would hurt but give me closure, or she’ll tell me she likes me back which would be. . . good? I guess? Just because she likes me back doesn’t mean she wants to get into another relationship right away, right? I mean, do I even want to get into a relationship right away?
God, I’m getting ahead of myself.
“Do you want a tour of the apartment?” Tara asks, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“Sure.” I chuckle. I doubt a lot has changed since I didn’t take any of my furniture with me, but I’m sure Tara has taken it upon herself to decorate the place to her liking and I kind of want to know how she’s turned the former guest room into her own room.
She switches the camera on her phone and starts showing me everything, pointing out little details here and there as she moves through the rooms.
Jackson, at one point, waves his hand to get my attention and mouths Girlfriend? while gesturing at my phone and I shake my head.
I mute myself for a moment and turn my phone so Tara can’t see me if she looks at the screen.
“It’s just Tara,” I explain which makes him smile knowingly.
“Ah. . . So the girlfriend’s little sister,” he teases and even though he doesn’t know all too much about Sam and me, he knows the gist of it from Liam and Paige who have met him on more than one occasion while visiting me.
They get along great with Jackson and I love it even though they bond over teasing me. Too bad Liam and Paige are still in Woodsboro. They plan on moving to the east coast some time soon as well though because Liam got a job offer in New York and Paige wants to move in with her long distance girlfriend who lives in Portland.
“Shut up, Sam’s not my girlfriend,” I argue weakly, feeling my cheeks turn red.
Jackson shoves me playfully. “Yet,” he teases and I just shove him back before unmuting myself and focusing back on Tara.
“And finally, my new room,” she says, going on with the tour without realizing that I wasn’t paying attention for a second ago.
“Looks good, Sprout,” I compliment. “I like the fairy lights behind the bed.”
Tara turns the camera again and beams at me. “Thank you. It was Sam’s ideas. She’s going to get some for her room, too.”
“Nice.” I nod in approval and smile sadly. “Man, I miss you guys.”
Them being on the other side of the country and in an entirely different time zone has made it difficult to stay in touch, but we try our best even though talking over the phone is just not the same as seeing each other in person.
Tara’s face softens and she takes a seat on her bed, pouting. “We miss you, too. It’s weird not having you around all the time, but we’ll see each other soon. I already got you your Christmas present.”
That makes me laugh and the homesickness that I was feeling a moment ago fades a little. “Oohh, can’t wait to find out what it is. Speaking of, do you know what I could get Sam? I already have something for you in mind, but I have no idea what to get her.“
Jackson leans over, obnoxiously mimicking kissing someone and I shove him away with a playful glare before looking back at Tara who is too lost in thought to notice my momentary distraction.
“Hmm. I don’t know. There’s this necklace she showed me a while ago that she likes, but I can’t remember where it was from. I can ask her about it though,” she says and I’m quick to nod.
“That would be great, but don’t make it obvious. She can’t suspect anything!” I warn which makes her roll her eyes good-naturedly.
“I won’t, I promise. This isn’t my first rodeo.”
I chuckle. “Good.”
2 months later. . .
I’m finally back in California and as I make my way through the airport’s parking lot to my rental car I can’t help but relish in the warm breeze that rustles some nearby trees.
I’ve come to love Boston and my new friends and teammates, but it’s just so goddamn cold there, especially now right before Christmas.
I was supposed to fly in tomorrow, on the 25th, but I changed my flight two days ago to surprise Sam and Tara, hence why I had to get a rental car instead of the two of them picking me up.
I finally get to the car and shove my bags into the trunk with little effort. I’m so glad I’m no longer injured because if I was, this whole thing would be extremely difficult.
Everything healed nicely, leaving behind nothing but scars, and I can happily live with that. They serve as a reminder that I managed to help Sam and Tara survive Ghostface and that we all made it out alive. The scar on my spine is a different story. I’ve hated it ever since I got it because it reminds me that my parents are dead and that I came close to being paralyzed, both things that I’d rather forget.
I shut the trunk with a satisfying thump, and get into the car, putting on some sunglasses to shield my eyes from the setting sun before pulling out of the parking lot.
The drive to my old apartment is familiar and even though there’s a lot of traffic since it’s Christmas eve, I manage to get home just as the sun goes down, leaving behind a faint orange glow in the sky.
I grab my stuff from the trunk and head into the apartment building, smiling at one of my old neighbors when he recognizes me and opens the door for me.
Okay, this is it.
I smile when I get to the third floor and set my bags down to knock at the familiar door.
I think of how weird it is to knock at my once own door, but that thought quickly vanishes when Tara opens the door ever so slightly, peeking through the gap.
“Oh my God!” She squeaks happily when she realizes it’s me and closes the door again to undo the chain before opening it properly. “Hi!”
“Hey, Sprout. Merry Christmas.” I barely have time to prepare myself for the bone crushing hug she pulls me into, but I’m definitely not complaining. I chuckle and lift her off her feet, spinning around before setting her down again.
“Tara, who’s at the door?” Sam’s voice from inside the apartment makes my stomach fill with butterflies and when she pokes her head around the corner my smile widens.
“Hey.”
Her jaw drops at the sight of me and as soon as I’ve let go of Tara she’s rushed over to hug me as well. Her hug is tame compared to Tara’s, but it’s still comforting and I can’t help but lift her off her feet for a second as well.
“What are you doing here? You weren’t supposed to get in until tomorrow. Did something happen?” she asks in disbelief when I pull back and I don’t miss the way her eyes dart all over my face as if checking for injuries.
My smile softens and I squeeze her in my arms one more time before separating from her completely. “Nothing happened, Sammy. I just wanted to surprise you guys.”
“You did,” Tara says, completely oblivious to the way her sister’s cheeks turn red at my use of her old nickname.
It honestly just slipped out, but I can’t say I’m displeased with the reaction it garnered.
“Yeah,” Sam mumbles, smiling shyly. She tucks her hair behind her ears and picks at the black sweater she’s wearing. “Why don’t you come in? We were just about to start dinner.”
I nod and pick up my bags, following the two of them into the apartment.
Not much has changed since I left because most of the furniture is the same, but Tara did do some decorating and there are different pictures on the walls.
There’s also a decorated christmas tree in the corner of the living room that glows in the low light and makes me smile.
I never put one up when I was living here because I always spent Christmas at Liam and Paige’s place anyway.
“Dinner’s almost ready,” Sam says nervously which makes me turn to look at her in the kitchen. Tara momentarily vanished into her room which explains Sam’s sudden nervousness. The dining table between us is set beautifully with candles and some more Christmas decorations and until now I hadn’t noticed the soft music coming from a speaker nearby. “Why don’t you- uh— freshen up while Tara and I finish up in the kitchen?”
I get a sense of deja vu since not even four months ago I was saying something similar to her, but I nod without bringing it up, taking note of how awkward things suddenly are between us.
We don’t act like this over the phone, but over the phone we usually don’t see each other unless Tara turns it into a video call, and we usually keep things polite.
This seems more. . . intimate even though nothing’s happening.
“Sure. I’ll be right back. Thanks.” I excuse myself and go to the bathroom, taking one of my bags with me.
I could really use a shower after my long flight, so I quickly strip as soon as I’ve locked the door behind me and get into the shower.
The hot water helps to get rid of the residual cold that somehow still clings to me from Boston, and once I get out of the shower I put on a shirt and a hoodie to make sure it also stays away.
I finish dressing and go to leave the bathroom again, but then my eyes get caught on a small orange pill bottle on the floor next to the sink.
I crouch down and pick it up, realizing it’s Sam’s when I see her name on the lable.
Her antipsychotics.
I take a closer look for a moment before shrugging and placing them on the counter next to the sink where they were probably knocked down from.
It doesn’t freak me out that she has to take them, or that she sees visions of Billy because I know they’re just that— visions, and she herself has said that she’d never hurt Tara or me because of them.
I can tell that they’re tiring though because of how resigned she was when she talked about them the last time, and I make a mental note to ask her how she’s dealing with them now.
“Ah, finally!” Tara exclaims when I make my way back into the living room. She’s sitting at the head of the dining table with a steaming bowl of pasta in front of her and a fork in hand, ready to dig in. Sam is sitting to her right, also with a bowl of pasta in front of her, but unlike Tara, she doesn’t seem to be as eager to start eating.
“I was gone for like five minutes,” I defend myself with a smile which makes Sam smile, too. “And you could have started without me, you know that.”
Tara immediately shoves a forkful of pasta into her mouth and shakes her head. “Nu-uh” she mumbles, “Sam made me wait for you.”
I laugh softly and join them at the table. “Well, I’m here now.”
Tara just hums in agreement and continues eating while Sam waits for my reaction to the food after I’ve had my first bite before diving in herself.
“This is great.” My eyes widen in surprise at the taste and I immediately eat another forkful before asking, “You guys made this?”
Sam nods but Tara shakes her head again, pointing her thumb at her older sister. “Sam did. I just watched and set the table.”
Damn. Who knew she could cook like that. I mean, her pancakes were great and all, but I didn’t know she could actually cook like this.
My eyes find Sam’s and when I raise my eyebrows expectantly she finally gives in and shrugs timidly, her eyes avoiding mine.
“It’s not that big of a deal. It’s just some pasta.” She deflects with red cheeks, trying to downplay her skills.
That makes me nudge her foot under the table, prompting her to look at me again. “Maybe. But it’s still delicious.”
I smile and she turns even more red, saying, “Thank you.”
I watch her with fondness as she nervously tucks her hair behind her ear before eating.
“Come on, move. Let me do something,” I complain, trying to get Sam to move away from the sink.
Dinner was delicious and we all helped ourselves to a second serving. Now, Tara is in her room, talking to Chad and Mindy on the phone while Sam and I are in the kitchen doing the dishes.
Well, Sam is doing the dishes. I want to help, but she keeps refusing and telling me to just go relax after my long flight.
“I told you, I’ve got it,” she shoots back, nudging me with her hip, but I’m not having it.
It’s obvious that I can’t persuade her to let me do something, so I’ll just have to manhandle her out of the way.
“Seriously, Y/N, just—Hey!” She squeaks in surprise when I wrap my arms around her from behind and lift her up, carrying her away from the sink before setting her back down.
“You cooked, and Tara set the table, so I’ll do the dishes.” I raise an eyebrow, daring her to object but she finally gives in with a sigh. Her cheeks are once again red and for a moment she doesn’t meet my eye, but when she does, I simply smile at her and get to work on the dishes.
“Do you— I don’t know— Want some coffee or tea?” she asks and even though I don’t want either I nod, understanding her need to do something.
“Tea would be nice,” I say and for the next minute or so a silence settles over us as we both do our thing.
I’m just drying my hands after putting away the last plate when Sam joins my side again with a cup of tea in hand.
“Here you go.” She hands it to me with a small smile and I take it, mumbling a thanks as I raise it to my lips to take a sip.
“So. . .” I lean against the counter. “How are you?”
Sam hugs herself and mirrors my position against the counter. “Okay, I guess. Can’t really complain,” she says, but the way she avoids my eyes with her own tells a different story.
“You sure?” I push slightly, knowing that Tara is still in her room and there’s no chance of her overhearing something Sam potentially doesn’t want her to hear.
Sam shrugs helplessly without really answering, so I set down my tea and step closer.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I ask softly touching her forearm which makes her look up.
I’m surprised to find her eyes filled with tears. “I. . . Can I have a hug?” she asks quietly and before any tears can escape her eyes I pull her into a hug, resting my chin on top of her head.
Sam lets out a shuddering sigh and sinks into the hug, the smell of her perfume making my heart flutter involuntarily.
The hold this girl has on me is incredible. . .
“What’s going on?” I whisper, running my hands up and down her back.
“Everything’s been just a lot lately, you know? The fight with my mom, being back here, the move. . . not to mention the whole Ghostface shit I’m still trying to get over a-and Richie—“ My hands still on her back at the mention of his name, but I stay quiet, letting her air out her thoughts, “— I still can’t believe he was behind everything. I really liked him and he just threw it in my face and I-I feel like it’s my fault Tara and you were almost killed. I mean people did die because of me. Wes, his mom, Dewey. . .”
I raise a hand to the back of Sam’s head and run my fingers through her hair. It used to help calm her down when we were kids, so I’m hoping it’ll do the same now.
“Sam, no one died because of you.” I hug her tighter. “Richie and Amber killed people because of their fucked up dream of making a new Stab movie. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
“But Billy—“
“Is your father, yes,” I cut her off. “But just because he is doesn’t mean what happened is your fault. It’s Richie’s and Amber’s. They killed all those people, not you. You’re nothing like them and you’re nothing like your father.“
Sam shivers and pulls back a little to look at me. “I might not have killed Wes and the others,” she whispers with tears still in her eyes, “but I did kill Richie and—“ she looks away, ashamed, “—it felt right doing it. It felt. . . good, stabbing him. It felt so fucking good, and I just couldn’t stop a-and that scares me.”
I tilt my head with furrowed eyebrows and cup her face with my hands, her brown eyes doubtful, yet hopeful that I’ll be able to assuage her guilt somehow. “I get it. You think that makes you a monster, but I‘d been surprised if you didn’t feel that way. Richie took so much from you. He betrayed you and hurt you in more ways than one, and he hurt Tara and me. . . He was about to kill all of us, but you stopped him. Yes, you killed him, but there was no other way. He would’ve just kept coming for us if you didn’t, so of course it felt good to kill him— to know that he’d never be able to hurt anyone ever again.”
A single tear rolls down Sam’s cheek and I’m quick to wipe it away before she hugs me again, burying her face in the crook of my neck.
She’s breathing shakily and I once again run my fingers through her hair, resting my cheek against her temple.
“Thank you,” she mumbles. “You always know how to make me feel better.”
I smile sadly and hold her tighter. “You’re welcome.”
If I could have killed Richie for her I would have done it in a heartbeat, but I didn’t and now she has to live with it. She killed him to save herself and to save the rest of us and I hate that she feels guilty for doing it.
We keep hugging for a couple of moments, silently holding each other until she chuckles quietly against the side of my neck.
“I think my therapist would hate you.”
I pull back and smile at her, glad to see that she’s no longer crying. “How come?”
“Because she’s been saying the exact same thing every since I started seeing her, but I didn’t believe it until you just said it,” she admits with a sheepish grin that makes me laugh.
I raise an eyebrow. “Well, shouldn’t she love me then?”
Sam just shrugs and rests her hands on my chest, playing with the strings of my hoodie right as Tara comes walking into the kitchen.
“You guys wanna watch a movie or something? Chad and Mindy say hi, by the way,” she says without commenting on the position she finds us in.
Sam is quick to take a step back though, rubbing the back of her neck and turning to make herself a cup of tea as well.
“Yeah, movie sounds good,” I say, unbothered, picking up my own tea.
Sam simply hums in agreement without turning around, which makes Tara smile and skip to the living room.
I stir, feeling myself wake up at the sensation of something being draped over me.
It’s dark, I notice when my eyes flutter open, and I realize that I must have fallen asleep sometime during the movie.
There’s no sign of Tara, but Sam’s standing over me, adjusting the blanket she draped over me so it covers my feet.
She hasn’t realized I’ve woken up, and I don’t want her to feel bad about waking me, so when she turns back to face me I quickly close my eyes again and pretend I’m still asleep.
There’s some shuffling and it takes everything in me not to flinch when Sam’s fingers brush against my forehead a second later, moving some hair out of my face.
She sighs and I think she might say something since she thinks I’m asleep, but she doesn’t.
She does place a delicate kiss to my forehead though, and it’s so surprising that as soon as I’m sure she’s gone into her room, I open my eyes again, touching my tingling forehead where her lips were a moment ago.
We really need to talk.

Does it ever hit you that because of Frank and Monica's emotional detachment, all of the Gallagher's seek out affection from romantic partners? But like to an almost obsessive degree.
Fiona's is obvious. She's hypersexual and falls in love easily. She will downplay her issues with Frank as something she's grown used to, but it's clear that it still affects her. She also does the same when it comes to Monica but I feel like her hostility towards other women comes from how she doesn't trust Monica, doesn't really trust herself, and sees those insecurities on other women. Ex: Her treatment of Mandy and distrust of her around Lip.
Lip is a classic case of a man dealing with his mommy issues by making it every woman's problem. He's hostile towards his romantic partners when they want a real commitment from him and he talks to women with so much disrespect that it's a wonder someone hasn't stomped his ass out yet. He's especially harsh towards his own sisters even though they've been the one's who have been there for him. He may hate Frank but he's noticeably giving and extremely forgiving towards men, even those he's only known for a short while. Almost like the story about the turtle was just as much about him hoping that he could fix Frank as it was about Frank crushing his hopes of a real father figure.
Ian being groomed is in no way his fault and is the fault of the creeps who pursued him. But I can't ignore the fact that Frank's abuse and neglect opened him up the further abuse he suffered at the hands of Kash and Ned. It's no coincidence that both Kash and Ned shower Ian with gifts and compliments about how impressive, smart, and mature he is.
Debbie 1. deals with comphet in the first few seasons, and 2. Feels ignored by her family so she tries to create her own family. Debbie is visibly the one most affected by Frank's issues and even when she for all intents and purposes gives up on him, it still affects her. Frank's hurtful words about her only finding love with someone "just as fucked up as she is" pushes her to put consider a dangerous situation with Heidi. She's also someone who struggles with control issues because she needs to help other people. She's a problem solver by nature. It's just that the two problems she wishes she could solve more than anything are out of her hands (Frank and Monica). She can't fix Frank's addiction, his selfishness, or his abusive tendencies. She can't fix Monica's wanderlust, her avoidance, or her aversion to long-term commitment.
Carl is so good at masking his emotions. It's easy to miss. But then you notice things like his attachment to Fiona, his absolute devotion to the girls he likes, and his need to protect. Carl is hypersexual, even though I've seen it rarely brought up in fandom, and longs for a long-term girlfriend. When he does get girlfriends he's all in from the beginning. When Carl loves someone he is all about them. He's so casual when it comes to talking about Frank and Monica, but that doesn't mean those feelings aren't there and they aren't affecting him.
Liam is still young so we don't get to see him in a relationship. He's the one Gallagher who's consistently treated like an actual kid. Probably the one who has the best chance at healthy emotional attachments. But then again, Fiona leaving most likely did a number on him and we weren't privy to what that looks like for him because the latter seasons forgot how to do long-term storytelling and emotional payoff. All we know is that he doesn't remember Monica, Frank being gone makes him an orphan and he's worried about where he's gonna live because Lip forgot that Liam was technically under Frank's care. We didn't get to see it, but I'd say Liam's first emotional crash is probably on the horizon.
#Mine#Shameless#Shameless US#Fiona Gallagher#Lip Gallagher#Ian Gallagher#Debbie Gallagher#Carl Gallagher#Liam Gallagher#Shameless meta#I lost the plot halfway through this post but I think the overall point shines through#Frank and Monica did a number on their kids#Someone get the siblings into therapy please

Liam lucked out with you, because if anyone can match his freak it's you.
Notes: All characters are 18+, I'm sorry if this isn't' the best I'm a little scared because this is my first kinktober and my first time writing for Liam. With that said, I hope you like this <3

༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻༺༻
Did Liam intend to have you pressed in between him and the door of his bedroom? No, but he couldn’t help himself.
It was shameful enough, when he came to the dance late. It wasn’t his fault, he was jumped by an assassin then a plant fucking exploded on him. Then, after his gasped out apologies and you fixed his tie while assuring him it wasn’t his fault. You two took your seats but he noticed everything. It was like suddenly he felt and saw everything. He saw how beautiful you were. He saw how nice your hair looked in a nice updo. He saw how plump your lips looked from the gloss, how long your eyelashes looked with your mascara, how curvy you looked in the dress. Then one thing led to another, you both excused yourself and got to the parking lot.
He got lucky with you, the second he hinted that he wanted to get out of there and get busy, you were putting your lipgloss in your purse and hugging your friends goodbye. You got to the parking lot, and he was pulling your hair to tilt your head back when he kissed down your neck. You moaned softly, and Liam knew he needed that. He didn’t know why he suddenly wanted to fuck anything that looked at him but Liam remembered he had his hot girlfriend sitting right next to him.
The whole time you drove them home, he struggled. Boy did he struggle. He struggled to keep his hands to himself, he struggled to keep his eyes off you, he struggled to not claw into your leather seats (the last time he did you slapped him clear out of his anger induced black out and he had to run you the 150 for your seats) and you almost ran a red light trying to get home. Liam personally wasn’t worried. Sure, a little embarrassed at the prospect of getting caught fucking you in a parking lot, but honestly? The way his head felt full of images of all the times you two had ever had sex he didn't even care.
Every time he came so hard his abs cramped, every time you deep throated him and he came down your throat, everytime he sunk into you, everytime you moaned out his name when he was on top of you, everytime you were on top of him. Everytime he shyly confessed something he wanted to try with you and you agreed so fast that once you two were done and you were fast asleep in his arms he thanked whoever was looking out for him and sent you his way.
His dick literally pulsated in his pants, and he was trembling. He didn’t want to hurt you, his human girlfriend who even though she matched his freak was still fragile compared to him. As in Liam could tumble down the stairs and be A-OK but you would probably fall into a coma. He doesn’t really remember how easy it was to get hurt, his perception may be a little bit off.
It was hot, when you two got out of the car and he carried you up the steps of his house. He hardly was able to keep his lips off of you enough to open the front door but the door eventually was opened. After he got frustrated and broke away from you, while you kissed his back. He pulled you inside, kicked the door shut, and got you up the stairs. Now all he had to do was stop making out with you long enough to open the door. Sounds easy? Wrong.
Your kisses were like crack to him. He was addicted to you. His heart was jumping around in his chest, he shuddered when you ran your hands over his neck and pulled him close by his tie. Your leg was in his hand, he was running his hand up and down your thigh and it was like heat was coming off of you. He could literally smell your arousal. You did love him in a suit, you told him so many times. Maybe he should just keep it on, as long as you keep that dress on. In truth, he was doomed the minute he saw you in that dress.
He bit your neck, sucking dark bruises into your skin, while you literally tore his suit off his body while soft moans escaped you. If he ever finds out what plant that was, he’ll be buying it in bulk.
Finally, Liam had the sense to just turn his door knob and you two stumbled in. Between the gasps, you two sloppily undressed each other. Unlike the other times you two had sex, this wasn’t filled with giggles and soft touches with tender looks. No, this was just him trying to get out of his tie, while you kicked your heels off and he kept his eyes trained on you with such an intense stare that you whimpered underneath it. Reaching forward, you pulled him into a searing kiss and the two of you fell onto his made bed, that he made in the event that you did come over and he got lucky tonight.
He moaned into the kiss, his shirt finally off while he pulled your dress over your head, which slightly disheveled your hair. Clearly you wanted him too though, you had on the bra that he loved. The one that he told you so many times that he loved and the bra he always sees you wearing in his dreams. The window was open, and the moonlight shone down on you. God, you were beautiful. You were so gorgeous that Liam felt a little bit bad that he was about to ruin all that pretty makeup of yours.
He didn’t even realize that his eyes were starting to glow, that color you’ve referred to as incredibly sexy. When he got it unlatched and your boobs bounced out freely, he smiled, like a kid in a candy store. It was like waking up in the middle of the night and seeing an ice cold water bottle next to your bed.
“So you just wore my favorite bra, you wanted to get fucked didn’t you?” He teased, bringing his head closer. He couldn’t even hide the smile on his face as he put one of your nipples in his mouth. You let out a hum while he sucked on your chest.
“I don’t even-” a moan broke off your thoughts when he ran a hand down your stomach and over your underwear.
“I don’t know what you mean.” You finished, breathless and chuckling just a little bit while you ran your fingers through his hair and his hand slipped into your underwear. One day, he’ll figure out what it is about him that makes you so wet. He didn’t even have time to respond, he didn't even have time to engage in his usual foreplay, he was about to come now. And this was a really nice pair of pants.
He painstakingly pulled away from your chest, ignoring your soft whine from the loss of stimulation. Pulling his pants down, he noticed your eyes glimmered at the sight of the dark gray boxers. You told him that you wanted to see him wearing them everyday until you died. Maybe it was the plant that had him so horny but he decided this on his own: he was going to destroy you.
Kicking off his boxers, pulling down your underwear, he heard your heart beating in gleeful anticipation. Almost like you wanted it to hurt (and he knew you did, after all this time he knows how you like it) and it definitely would. Liam loves you so much he just can't deny what you want. Coming back to lay on top of you, naked bodies on naked bodies, Liam planted a kiss on your neck and grinded himself into you. He was right there, his dick wet before he even went into you. You licked a stripe along his neck, running your hands down his toned chest and the two of you began a sloppy mess of horny grinding.
“You like when I do this?” Liam was not blind, he could literally see how excited you were, how hard it was to have patience.
“Shut up.” You moaned back while your legs shook just a little bit from feeling him against you.
“I knew you liked teasing, but the way you're acting right now-” He was cut off by you guiding him into you. Oh you really couldn’t wait. Maybe he wasn’t the one most affected. He let out a soft ‘fuck’ when he felt how warm and tight you were. The voice in his head telling him to just do it was silent now, celebratory canons went off in his head. But no, this wasn’t right. He needed something insane, he needed that really rough nasty stuff tonight.
Pulling out, much to the both of your dismay you wiggled on the bed for him to put it back.
“Turn around.” He was sweating, his head felt foggy and his eyes were pulsing. Like a puppet on a string you were on your knees, your ass up in the air and your back arched deeply. Perfect, you were perfect. He saw how wet your pussy was and it was finally time. He slammed into you, you jumped forward with a loud broken moan.
Suddenly, something snapped in him. He wasn’t exactly going to go gentle on you before but now? Forget it. He let out a low, dangerous growl, feeling his claws pushing out of his nails while he pulled back out and slammed back into you. You jumped, almost like this was a bit more than you bargained for but it was what you wanted.
Fuck he just couldn’t help it. Perfect, you were perfect. He was slamming in and out of you, eyes rapidly trying to take in every single part of you. His hands slapped your ass and held a bruising grip on your hips while you clenched the sheets underneath you. Your moans were like music to his ears, while his hands found your hair. Liam was a talkative guy okay? So even when he was pounding into you with reckless abandon he needed to let you know.
Leaning down to meet your head half way he began his symphony of perverted conversation.
“You like when I fuck you like this?” He had to ask. The way you were screaming out his name while he pounded your brains out was an answer enough but he had to hear it. You stammered, attempting to get the words out, while his free hand came around and pinched one of your nipples. Your legs shook and he chuckled darkly in your ear.
“Yes!” You jumped, one of his hands delivering a slap to your clit. He began rubbing hard and fast circles that had to wiggling to escape his strong arms. He wasn’t sure why you tended to do that, because usually it just makes him put you in a headlock while you cum. Maybe you liked it though, he can’t really figure it out. You gasped out a moan, and Liam vaguely hoped his mom and step dad arent home. You were closing, whispering his name over and over again with each second he felt you cream all over him even more.
“Don’t worry, there’s more to come. We’re gonna go all night, and you’re about to cum so much that you forget your own name. You want that?” Of course you did, you were his favorite girl. You matched his freak better than anyone. You nodded while you moaned, feeling a hand of his coming up to squeeze your neck. His fingers still rubbing your clit, as he thrusted up into you. The more you chanted his name the closer he got to the edge. Your hips jumped and he gave you three more thrust, growling more obscene words into your ear while your legs shook and you screamed his name. You came, hard. Your back arched and you attempted to close your legs but Liam wouldn’t give you the chance as he kept thrusting up into you. His fingers continued to attack your clit but decided to give you a small break.
He switched his strokes, no longer going fast and hard but instead slowly and hard. Each moment you let out soft whimpers and moans of his name that broke down his brain.
“Only sluts like to be fucked this way. Say you're a slut.” He pulled out, putting you on your back. He was close, so close that he just needed one more thrust and it would be time for round two. You were dazed, from cumming so hard that you were basically seeing stars. Looking down, Liam noticed the mess you made around his dick and he groaned upon seeing the creamy ring.
“Come onnn say it.” He teased rubbing himself over your clit and over your opening.
“I’m a slut.” There it was! Liam's angel! He slid back into you, groaning while he clutched your face and planted a rough kiss to your lips.
“Fuck yeah you are.” He picked up the hard pace again, pushing himself to some limits that he had literally never reached before. His head rushed, and he felt dizzy. He let out a loud growl as he came inside of you while you dragged your nails down his back. Your legs trembled around his waist before they undid themselves as you melted into the sheets.
That ground breaking orgasm did very little to ease the intense fog over his mind. You were looking up at him, while he pulled out slowly. The sight of his cum leaking out of you, plus the mess your pussy made had him shaking. It was going to be a great night.

ah. hm. you know what makes me insane (genuinely) is that none of these people actually gave a shit about liam unless they were punching down on him. caveat: i am not excusing his actions, not by a mile. liam died, and it hurts us. but from maya's perspective, her abuser died today, and i can understand the enormous and complicated relief of that too. so this isn't about her. but. the level of unjustified hatred he receives even in death is. yeah. it's going to make me enraged, because like. every moment spent in the public eye, liam was subjected to bullying and abuse. whether from their management back in the 1D days (yeah! i still remember that shit!) or from their "fans." like. these things don't just happen in a vacuum, people don't break because they experience five seconds of trauma and that was it. there were so many contributing factors to liam's spiral. years of abuse that had nothing to do with his ex. and no one cared! they mocked him and they will mock him still and they will celebrate his death and then when it's someone they like, they'll say "man, how can we let this happen, we need to take the warning signs seriously" like !!!! YEAH. YEAH THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT. AND NONE OF YOU DID. jesus fuck
SAY! THAT! i have not seen a single person i follow excuse anything he did to maya or anyone else. but i have seen people who have continuously looked at liam in bad faith, regardless of context, say that this is so awful and he was so young etc and it’s like. you were dog piling on him! way way way before maya henry said anything incriminating! his death is not about maya henry, his death is about him and the mistreatment and abuse he started receiving when he was a kid that went unchecked and unresolved and turned him into a kind of person he did not want to be. it’s not like he was unaware of his problems. he spoke about his addiction. he spoke about his relationships and the regrets he had and his desire to get better—he just didn’t get the help he needed!!!!!! that can happen to literally anyone. i’m not going to forgive him for his mistakes bc that’s not my place but i sure as hell can and will be bitter about people who think they can say this is a tragedy while they were actively contributing to it

like snow on the beach - r.g.
Ridoc Gamlyn x marked!reader a continuation of love at first fight, part of the Ridoc and Sweetheart series 🦋 words: 2.8k 🏷: FOURTH WING SPOILERS. she/her, feminine reader (wears a dress for Reunification Day, referred to as a girl/woman). mentions of canon character death, mentions of dissociation and anxiety. you have a panic attack, but someone helps you through it. titled after the tswift song!
“Don’t look now, but that guy from second squad is staring at you again,” Liam says quietly. “At your four.”
You twist in your seat as if cracking your back, looking over your shoulder. Sure enough, the cute curly-haired boy who had handed you the dagger you’d won from Jack Barlowe the other day is looking right at you.
“Say the word and I’ll handle him,” Imogen offers, picking at her nails with disinterest. She’s been itching for another fight since her last opponent tapped out after ten seconds.
The tall redhead sitting across from him notices you’re looking in their direction, and he kicks his friend under the table. He looks away quickly, starting a conversation with the rest of the group. Not discreet at all.
“Hurting anyone in Sorrengail’s squad wouldn’t go over well with Xaden. And look at him. He’s harmless,” you defend.
“He definitely doesn’t want to kill you,” Liam agrees. “He’s just smitten.”
You glance to your right again. He has his back turned now, still engaged in conversation with his friends, who are all laughing at something he said.
So he’s the class clown type. Interesting.
Imogen scoffs. “He can bark up that tree all he wants, but we all know it’ll never get him anywhere.”
--------------------------------------
And bark he does. You can’t shake the guy and his sunny personality. He’s everywhere you are, always having something to say, some shameless line to drop on you.
“If I make this bullseye, you have to let me take you out for dinner. There’s an amazing pasta place in town, you’ll love it.”
“No,” you say flatly.
“You don’t like pasta?” He asks, and you know that if you say you don’t, he’ll just offer something else.
“I do. But we’re not going out.”
He misses by an inch and a half anyway.
You pick up one of your own blades, weighing it carefully in one hand before pulling it back and letting sail. It lands to the left of his, in the dead center of the target.
He doesn’t look embarrassed in the slightest. “Alright, we’ll stay in and work on my aim. Just you, me, and a whole rack of knives. What do you say?”
“I’d say that putting us in a room with one weapon is a bad idea.”
He grins. “There’s just something undeniably sexy about a woman who wants to kill me.”
“I don’t want to kill you.” It’s true -- you have no ill will toward the guy, you just wish he’d quit while he’s behind.
“That might be the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me.”
You falter for a moment, thinking about it. You don’t think you’ve ever been objectively mean to him, just blunt in declining his advances.
“You’re moving your arm too much,” you say instead, yanking your dagger out of the wood panel, but leaving his where it stands, off-center. “Less in the elbow, more in the wrist.”
You don’t stick around to watch him try again.
--------------------------------------
Nothing seems to discourage him, not your dry responses nor being ignored completely. He’s determined to keep chipping away at your shell, but why?
“Is your dragon mated? I was thinking we could go on a double date. Aotrom’s an upstanding guy, she’d like him.”
You can’t even begin to imagine the conversations this guy must have with his dragon. Is he as weary of the boy’s enthusiasm as you are, or is he encouraging this behavior?
“I’d consider it if he wasn’t missing so many teeth,” Rhith muses. “But he’s a bit young for my taste.”
“Their personalities wouldn’t mesh at all,” you answer, as if you’re speaking about Rhith and Aotrom, and not you and Ridoc.
“I think if she gave him a chance, she’d change her mind,” he says slyly.
“I don’t date men under six foot.”
He mimes taking a knife to the chest. “You wound me, sweetheart. But I promise I can make up for it in all the ways that matter.”
“With that dazzling sense of humor?”
“I was going to make a dick joke, actually. But I’m glad you think I’m dazzling.”
You roll your eyes, leaving.
--------------------------------------
You have never considered yourself vain, but you’d spent a full minute admiring your reflection in the bathroom mirror before heading down for the festivities.
The formal dress looks incredible on you. Tight in all the right places, the cut highlights the muscle you’ve gained since starting the term at Basgiath, but it covers enough to still be somewhat professional.
You don’t need jewelry -- your rebellion relic is the perfect accessory, the black swirls forming the illusion of a lace sleeve up one arm, complimenting the black satin draped over your skin.
You’d even fixed up your hair for the occasion, freeing it from its usual sweaty braids and washing and drying it carefully, letting it fall over the exposed curves of your shoulders. Simple. Perfect.
Imogen hadn’t hesitated to hype you up when she saw you, her jaw dropping at the sight. “Holy shit, girl, you look hot. If you’ve ever wanted to fuck anyone in the quadrant, tonight would be the night to do it.”
You laugh. “I’ll be perfectly content to have a calm night. Some boring speeches, some fireworks, and then straight to bed.”
“Suit yourself,” she calls, headed off.
“Someone should tell Amari that she’s missing an angel.”
You don’t need to turn to know who it is, but you look over your shoulder at him anyway.
Ridoc continues to wax poetic, a lazy smile on his face. “You are a goddess among men. The kind of woman bards write songs about and men go to war over.”
“How many drinks have you had?”
“None,” Sawyer answers for his friend, sounding like he could use one himself. “This is just the way he is.”
Ridoc agrees, grinning. “Stone cold sober, gorgeous. I want to remember this sight forever.”
You laugh at his bold absurdity, and the light, clear sound goes straight to his heart.
He beams even brighter. “You laughed. That’s a crack in the armor.”
“You’re a menace to society, Gamlyn.”
“Gods, I love it when you’re mean to me,” he says with a dreamy sigh. “I’m gonna write about this in my diary when I get back to my room.”
“Goodnight,” you say, ending the conversation, or trying to.
“Someday, sweetheart,” he calls, watching you walk away. “I’ll get there someday, I know I will.”
--------------------------------------
You should already be on the flight field, but the fear gripping your heart has your boots stuck to the stone ground of the courtyard. You’ll be no use to your friends in this state, anyway. You need to relax.
You close your eyes for a moment, picturing the meadows of Tyrrendor. A dozen blue butterflies materialize in front of you, the gentle motion of their wings as they float through the night air soothing your nerves.
“Whoa.”
You startle, and the butterflies vanish, your head snapping toward the voice.
Ridoc stands a few yards away, still in his dress uniform, though he’s undone the first two buttons of the shirt, rolled up the sleeves and ditched the jacket entirely. A few dark locks fall across his forehead, loosened from the gel that had been holding them earlier.
He looks good like this. Too good.
“Sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you,” he offers. “I’ve just never seen anything like them before. They’re beautiful.”
You compose yourself quickly. “They’re native to Tyrrendor. They don’t live anywhere else on the continent.”
“You’ll have to show me the real ones sometime,” he says, smiling.
You raise an eyebrow at the implication that you’d be bringing him home any time soon.
He continues, not missing a beat. “I may look like a hotshot dragon rider, which I am, but we both know you’d be the one in charge between us. I’d do anything you asked, sweetheart.”
“Anything except leave me alone?” you ask, regretting the sharp words as soon as they enter the air.
He’s silent. Maybe you’ve finally proven your point, proven to both him and yourself that you’re no good for him, that you don’t deserve the starry-eyed reverence he’s afforded you for months.
A whistle echoes across the courtyard, a three-note gliss you’d recognize anywhere; the one your parents had used to call you inside for dinner when you were kids.
You don’t turn toward the sound, still looking at Ridoc. For the first time ever, he isn’t smiling at you, and it feels like the world has stopped turning, that the sun has burnt out and the moons have disappeared from the sky.
You’re sick with guilt, struggling to form complete sentences. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to… that was a really fucked up thing for me to say. I just… I don’t understand why you-”
“Hurry up,” Garrick calls, impatient. “Xaden is pissed.”
“You should go,” Ridoc says softly. “We can talk about this another day.”
Why is he looking at you like that after what you’d said to him? Why does he still care about you? Why did he in the first place?
“Be safe,” he adds quietly, and that’s enough for you to finally move your feet, to run toward your foster brother, to follow him and Xaden to gods-know-where for their final assignment.
Garrick’s words go in one ear and out the other as you race toward the flight field. It doesn’t matter where you’re going or what you have to do, only that you come back, that you see Ridoc again and tell him the truth.
--------------------------------------
The next few days go by in a blur, devoid of color. You’re barely aware of your existence, just going through the motions to keep yourself alive. You sleep, you eat, but your dreams are blank and the food tasteless.
You settle onto the cold stone of the main staircase, leaning your cheek against the banister.
It’s easy enough to conjure a few of the soft blue butterflies, watching them flutter about above your head. You reach forward, extending your hand to one, and it lands on your finger, flapping its wings gently.
“You’re getting really good at that,” Garrick says quietly, sitting down on the step above you.
Five years living as siblings has attuned him to your emotions -- he knows that something is wrong, that something had been wrong even before you were sent on this suicide mission and lost two of your friends. “Do you want to talk about what happened when I came to get you?”
You really don’t, but the words come out anyway. “I fucked up,” you whisper, still watching the butterflies. The sight of them only reminds you Ridoc, of the soft awe that had lingered in his eyes even after they’d disappeared — until you’d snapped at him. Gods, the look on his face…
You push the thought away, and they fade back into air. “I hurt him, because I was scared.”
“Scared of what?” He asks. There’s no judgment in his tone, just gentleness; he genuinely wants to understand.
“That he was being serious, that he actually likes me,” you answer. “I keep pushing him away, but he keeps coming back, he keeps looking at me like… like I mean something to him, and I don’t understand why. He doesn’t know me, he isn’t one of us, he isn’t even in my squad. There’s no reason for him to care about me.”
Garrick lets your words hang in the air for a moment before he speaks. “I thought it was fitting that you developed an illusion signet.”
You look up, waiting for him to elaborate.
“It took me a full year to figure you out when we met, to realize that the person you really are on the inside doesn’t match the person that you show people. I think he saw right through that perpetual stone-faced look, saw the girl that I’m proud to call a sister.”
“You really think so?” You ask quietly.
“I know so.”
You rest your head against his shoulder, a gesture that he knows is equivalent to a tight embrace from anyone else -- you’ve never been a touchy person.
You’ve never been good at feelings, either. “It’s too damn quiet in this house,” you say after a moment, changing the subject.
He laughs. “It really is.”
--------------------------------------
Ridoc is standing in front of you.
You’re relieved at the sight of him, that no terrible fate befell him in the week you’d been away, but you can’t handle the conversation that you need to have, not when you feel like your heart is going to give out.
“I can’t do this right now,” you say, but the words don’t come out as strongly as you’d hoped, not enough air in your lungs to speak properly. “So if you could find somewhere else to be, that would be great.”
In true Ridoc fashion, he isn’t discouraged by your protests, kneeling down next to you. “Can you look at me, sweetheart?”
His seriousness confuses you enough to comply. You raise your chin, stunned at the softness in his eyes -- you’ve never been this close to him before. He’s beautiful.
“I’m gonna check your pulse, okay?”
You nod silently, allowing him to extend a hand toward you. Two fingers press into the side of your neck, feeling for your heartbeat.
He’s never touched you before. His hands are warm.
“Do you know where you are?”
“Basgiath,” you answer easily.
“Good. How long have you been sitting here?”
“I don’t know. Since we got out of formation?”
He realizes exactly what upset you — that must have been your first flight since you got back from War Games with the rest of the marked ones.
“I don’t know what you saw out there, and you don’t need to tell me, but whatever it is, it can’t hurt you right now,” he promises. The genuine sincerity in his voice has the tears falling faster.
Through your blurred vision you see him open his arms, and you lean into them without hesitation. He’s so warm that you can’t help but melt as soon as your skin touches his.
He rubs your back, speaking softly. “You’re okay, pretty girl, you’re safe. Just breathe with me, okay?”
You attempt to match the even pace of his chest rising and falling against yours, deepening your shuddering breaths.
“That’s it,” he soothes. “You’re doing great.”
Grief comes flooding out of you, and you clutch at the fabric of his flight jacket to remain upright. “I miss them so much,” you sob. “They didn’t deserve to die.”
Liam and Soleil, the two marked ones that hadn’t come back with you.
“I know, sweetheart. I’m so sorry.”
He continues to rub your back, murmuring soft reassurances to you until your grip on him has loosened and your breathing has slowed.
You’ve relaxed, your heart no longer pounding as it had been when he found you, but you still don’t want him to go, you couldn’t bear it if he left right now. “Stay?” You ask in a small voice.
“Of course,” he answers, pulling back to sit beside you. “As long as you need.”
Your tears have dried, leaving you with a headache and a hollow feeling in your sinuses. “Why did you help me?” You ask quietly, looking out at the river.
He wraps an arm around your shoulders. “Because it was the right thing to do. And because I can’t stand to see pretty girls cry.”
“Of course you’re back to cracking jokes already.”
“I’ve never been joking with you,” he says, shaking his head. “I meant every word I said to you, sweetheart. You’re beautiful, but you’re so much more than that, too. You’re capable, strong, witty, kind, caring, gentle… everything about you is good, and I wish that people would see past the relic on your arm and realize that.”
You blink at him, stunned.
“It’s true,” he says softly. “When you smiled at me that day at challenges, I knew that there was a soft heart under all that steel.”
A soft heart. A sweet heart.
There’s a moment of quiet while you work up the courage.
“Is that pasta place still there?”
He laughs, perhaps a little too loudly, but you’ve grown to love that sound, and the way it shakes his chest is comforting, like the rumble of a thunderstorm when you’re safe and dry indoors. “I think so.”
“Wanna go there tomorrow? Together?”
He grins from ear to ear. “Are you asking me out right now, sweetheart?”
You look over at him. “Yeah. I am.”
“This is going in the diary too, for the record.”
You can’t help but laugh, leaning back against him. If only for a moment, your anxiety has melted away.
You feel like you could face anything, as long as you have Ridoc to come home to.

Kate: Nn… haah… Liam…?
The moment I let Liam in when he visited my room, he started kissing me without warning.
Liam: — Be quiet.
He pinned both of my hands above my head, holding them tightly in place so I couldn’t move, and continued his attack on my lips.
(What’s gotten into him…?)
I was struggling to breathe, and yet I couldn't stop him.
Liam looked like he was in more pain than I was, so I accepted his kisses without resistance.
And that went on for who knew how long.
After kissing me for so long that I thought my lips might’ve been swollen, Liam finally released my hands and pulled away.
Kate: Liam… did something happen?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/6842e946d1582ce76a28751ca15c59fd/ab4f7c7a062e71f5-3d/s540x810/52ffefe189517ecfda26f85fc9bc24917153b111.jpg)
Liam: …
Liam: Kate… do you like pain?
Kate: Huh…?
Liam: If you like pain, I can give you as much pain as you want.
Liam: If you like being bitten, I’ll bite you however much you want… we can even do more dangerous things together.
Liam: … I'll act as kind of man you want me to be, Kate. So please—
Liam: Please… don’t abandon me…
This time, Liam started crying into my chest.
Kate: … Liam. I don’t like pain.
Liam: Really…?
Kate: Yes. Because the person I love doesn’t want to hurt me… I always want to take good care of my body and make sure I don't get hurt.
Kate: Also, you don’t need to act. I love you just the way you are, Liam.
Even though I had told him that countless times before, I firmly reassured him once more.
Liam: Is that really how you feel…? I thought…
Liam: … I- I’m sorry, Kate. Thanks for telling me you love me.
Liam: I love you too. So… let me love you as you are too from now on.
Liam: … Sorry for being violent with my kisses.
Liam gave me a gentle kiss, and the two of us tumbled into bed together.
…
Kate: … Ah!! I almost forgot all about it!!
After a moment of Liam and I affirming our love for each other, something came to my mind and I immediately bolted up while still in his arms.
Liam: Is something the matter?
Kate: Yes. I’ll be right back, Liam.
I got up and brought something from the kitchen back to my room.
Kate: Happy Valentine’s Day, Liam!
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8e6b0ac48ebed3d34b7d8de94baf2c8b/ab4f7c7a062e71f5-03/s540x810/2f79a06834bc183e77efe92abfa143919be8a1ff.jpg)
Liam: Is this… for me?
I presented Liam with a moderately sweet chocolate cake.
Kate: Yup. I wanted to make something you’d enjoy eating… so I used a special chocolate that’s especially aromatic.
Liam: It really does smell good…
Kate: Fufu. It was hard to obtain, but worth the effort to beg Jude for help.
Liam: Jude? By any chance… did you pick up the chocolates this morning?
Kate: Yes, that’s right… did you happen to see me?
Kate: I tried to make it a surprise by receiving it in secret…
Liam: What… so that’s what it was…
Liam: I saw you smiling so happy when receiving some package from Jude.
Liam: Since it’s Valentine’s Day, I assumed you and Jude might have feelings for each other…
Kate: Eeh!? That’s impossible. I’m fully devoted to you, Liam!
Kate: So that’s why you asked if I liked pain…
Liam: Yeah… I’m sorry for doubting you.
Liam: … It made me insecure knowing you’re such a wonderful person that anyone would admire.
Kate: Then please always voice out whenever you feel that way, I can clear those feelings for you.
Kate: Because my love for you will absolutely never fade.
Liam: Thanks, Kate.
Although it was late at night, the two of us shared the chocolate cake.
Even if our love melts and loses its shape in the heat caused by jealousy, like chocolate, we can always reshape it beautifully.
Because I want to be together with Liam until the end of time.

Cheer up
__________________________________________
where Liam makes sure the reader doesn't spend NYE alone and sick
__________________________________________
The knock at the door wasn’t just unexpected—it was downright odd. You frowned, tugging your blanket tighter around yourself as you shuffled to answer it. You weren’t expecting anyone, and definitely not on New Year’s Eve. Everyone else had plans that didn’t involve sitting at home nursing a rubbish cold.
When you cracked the door open, there he was, Liam standing on your doorstep with a plastic shopping bag dangling from one hand. His grin was as cheeky as ever, and he looked quite lively, even in the bitter cold.
“Alright, love?” he said casually, like this was a completely normal thing to do.
“Liam?” you blinked, utterly baffled. “What the hell are you doing here? I told you I wasn’t coming tonight—I’m sick, remember? And shouldn’t you be at the party? Pretty sure that’s more your thing than… this.”
He didn’t wait for an invite, just strolled in like he owned the place, plonking the bag onto your counter. “Yeah, yeah, heard all that,” he said, rooting around in the bag. “But I figured you might cheer up when you see this.”
With a flourish, he pulled out a bottle of wine, holding it up like a trophy.
You stared at him, unimpressed. “You brought wine? Liam, I’ve been sneezing me head off all day, and you want me to drink wine?”
“Exactly,” he said, completely serious. “Kills the germs, don’t it? Wine’s medicinal.”
You snorted, despite yourself. “I’m pretty sure that’s not how it works.”
“Course it is,” he shot back, leaning on the counter with that insufferable smirk that always made it hard to stay annoyed at him. “Besides, I didn’t come here to drag you out. Just wanted to check on you, make sure you weren’t sat here wallowin’ or summat.”
You folded your arms, though the warmth in your chest was harder to ignore now. “So, what? You decided to ditch a perfectly good party to babysit me?”
“Babysit?” he echoed, mock offended. “Don’t flatter yourself. I’m just makin’ sure you’re alright, that’s all. You know I can’t leave you hangin’ love.”
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t fight the small smile creeping onto your face. “You’re ridiculous. Fine, stay in here. But if you catch this cough and start whingin’ tomorrow, don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
“Deal,” he said, already kicking off his boots and making himself at home on your couch.
A little while later, you were both settled in. The wine was open, glasses poured, and somehow, the mood had shifted into something easy and light. Liam had a way of doing that—making you forget yourself, forget the rubbish day you’d had, just by being his usual self. He was full of stories tonight, half of them ridiculous, the other half even more ridiculous. You found yourself laughing, your cheeks hurting from it, and for the first time all day, you felt properly warm.
“Thanks for this, by the way,” you said, swirling the wine in your glass. “For coming over, I mean. Sorry if I’ve ruined your night, though.”
“Ruin it?” he said, eyebrows raised. “Are you daft? This is bang on, this. Couldn’t think of a better way to spend it, to be honest.”
You looked at him, taken aback by how genuine he sounded. For all his attitude, there were moments like this when Liam’s softer side slipped through, catching you completely off guard.
“Oi,” he said suddenly, breaking the silence and jolting you out of your thoughts. “You know there’s only twenty minutes left till midnight, right? If we’re watchin’ them fireworks, you’d better get your arse in gear. Can’t have you standin’ out there in a blanket, can we?”
You blinked, momentarily thrown by the change in topic. “Wait, you actually want to go outside? In the cold?”
He grinned, already grabbing his coat. “Damn right I do. Fireworks aren’t gonna watch themselves, are they? Now, get a move on, woman, or we’ll miss the lot.”
His grin was infectious, and despite everything you couldn’t help but laugh. “Alright, alright, I’m going,” you said, tossing the blanket aside and grabbing your jacket.
Once you were bundled up, Liam gave you a quick once-over, frowning. “Oi, where’s your scarf?”
You waved him off. “It’s fine, Liam. We’re just stepping out for a bit. I’ll survive.”
“Nah, nah,” he said, already unwrapping his own from around his neck. “No way you’re goin’ out there without one. You’re already ill—you’ll end up worse, and I’ll be stuck listenin’ to you complain for a week.”
“I wouldn’t—”
“Shut it,” he interrupted, stepping closer and looping the scarf around your neck. His hands lingered a little too long while adjusting the fabric, his knuckles brushing against your skin.
“There,” he murmured, stepping back slightly but still close enough to look into your eyes. His expression softened, his gaze searching yours as if he’d only just realized how close you were.
You couldn’t help it—your cheeks flushed, the moment growing heavier. The air between you shifted, and before you knew it, his eyes flicked down to your lips. His touch still lingered on the scarf, and your breath hitched, wondering if he was about to close the distance.
Then, suddenly, a loud bang cut through the silence, a firework going off prematurely somewhere in the neighborhood. You both jolted apart, startled, the tension dissolving as you laughed nervously.
“Bloody knobheads, settin’ ‘em off early,” Liam muttered, rubbing the back of his neck.
“Yeah,” you agreed, not trusting yourself to say more. Without addressing what had almost happened, you opened the door and led the way outside.
You both found a bench in the garden with a clear view of the skyline. Liam pulled out a pack of cigarettes, tapping one out and holding it up in offering.
“Fancy one?” he asked.
You hesitated a second before taking it. “Why not? New Year’s Eve, after all.”
He lit his with a practiced flick of his lighter, inhaling deeply before leaning toward you. You brought your cigarette to meet his, the glowing tips touching as he helped you light it. For a brief moment, your eyes locked again, his face illuminated by the ember’s soft glow.
This time, it was harder to look away, but you forced yourself to lean back and take a drag, exhaling slowly into the cold night air. The silence between you felt companionable, as you both smoked and stared out at the lively city.
After a moment, you turned toward him, wrapping your arms around him in a tight hug.
“Sorry,” you murmured against his shoulder, “for being such a broken record about this. But thank you, Liam. Really. You have no idea how much this means to me. You mean so much to me.”
When you pulled back, his face was flushed, his expression uncharacteristically shy. “It’s no problem,” he said, his voice quieter than usual. “Like I said, I'd always choose you over some daft party I can throw any week.”
The words made your heart stutter, but before you could reply, he shifted slightly, meeting your eyes.
“You know I will, right?” he said, his voice steadier now. “Always choose you, no matter what. I’ve always cared about you, more than I probably should’ve as a friend.” He paused, running a hand through his hair. “I don’t want this to sound too clichè or whatever, but… you’re the one person I’d drop everything for. Always have been.”
You stared at him, a wide, disbelieving smile spreading across your face as his words sank in.
“God, you idiot,” you said softly, shaking your head in wonder.
He opened his mouth to reply, but the sound of fireworks starting to explode in the distance made you both glance toward the skyline.
The colors lit up the sky, and without thinking, you turned back to him, grabbing his jacket and pulling him close. Before he could say anything else, you pressed your lips to his in a kiss so full of passion and relief it made your head spin.
The fireworks grew louder, the explosions echoing across the city, but all you could focus on was him—his warmth, his hands on your waist, the way he kissed you back like it was the only thing he wanted in the world.

thinking about how liam almost fell to his death from the hospitals rooftop and then like very soon after that willingly went back to that same rooftop to help kira. and then during the whole ghost rider thing, he jumps VERY far down to get to the horse.
its just. liam constantly getting confronted with situations that were very traumatizing for him and always entering those situations head on. almost falling to his death, getting bitten and kidnapped and turned into a werewolf? goes back to that same rooftop to fight a monster very soon after that.
and liam is so terrified of the berserkers to the point hes scared to be alone, scared in the dark, too scared to fall asleep, so afraid that he cant focus on lacrosse, so scared that he keeps seeing/hallucinating? a berserker about to attack him and then he STILL decides to go to mexico??? stiles literally tells him that he doesnt have to come with them and liam goes "i know but i want to" WHAT THE FUCK? and its a full moon!
hes scared of losing control, hes been on edge bc of everything happening and scott not being there for him anyway and he still manages to control himself on the full moon and goes to fight the monsters hes terrified of anyway.
the whole thing with the berserker and how he got bitten both happened on the rooftop of the hospital. so hes had two traumatizing events happen on a rooftop and he still jumps so far down during the wild hunt thing to get to the horse.
and he even says "i hate horses" RIGHT before it? and he still does it??? theo asks him if he knows how to ride a horse and he just says "not really!" and rides off anyway??? hayden asks him when he learned how to ride a horse and he just goes "right now" like???
moving on.
he has only bad memories with brett and still forces himself to confront him in front of EVERYBODY and be nice to him, knowing what brett is like. and when brett starts taunting and threatening him, he tries so hard to control himself, he makes himself bleed. brett is nothing but an asshole to him and liam still starts being kinda? weirdly? friends with him and asks brett for help with lacrosse, tries to save brett, feels guilty for bretts death even though it wasnt his fault.
oh and that fucking class room scene. he got beaten up so badly that he was absolutely COVERED in blood and would have so many serious injuries if it wasnt for his fast healing, he took that beating while his whole class was watching and laughing and his fucking teacher didnt intervene and just went "oh its better to leave them alone sometimes" and then when scott asks him to go back to that class, he STILL does it. he knows the whole school is full of people who want to kill him, he mentions that he hates biology and he still goes back to that fucking class full of people who stood there while he was coughing up blood on the floor. to that teacher, WHO WAS A WEREWOLF HERSELF, and still just took one look at his face and refused to help him. he went back to that class and did just as scott asked him to.
also: he knew what happened to him at that zoo and he still made the plan to go there himself bc apparently the plan was more important to him than his trauma. like im so serious, he just keeps going back and back into situations where he was hurt and helpless and alone and he sometimes mentions his discomfort or fear but he still does it. he just goes back to those situations and does whats necessary (or what he deems necessary) anyway. god i love him.
hes so brave like. gets attacked and poisoned and thrown down into a well to die? instead of despairing, he starts CLIMBING his way out of that well. falls back down, hurts himself punching the wall, thinks of his dad, starts climbing again.
he wants scotts approval and thinks he isnt a good leader but he still sticks to his ideas and goes through with them and takes full responsibility, proving to scott that hes capable. i mean fucking hell, he took a ghostriders horse and rode INTO the wild hunt. like who does that????
and because hes strong and aggressive he gets put into that brawn stereotype instead of brain but hes actually so smart. he comes up with plans constantly and he has quick thinking & good observation skills. like yeah hes a bit of a dumbass and says silly things but hes strong and capable and smart and brave and a good leader..
and god his character development in s6a. the way he tries to tell hayden that he can be the alpha but cant even get the words out bc clearly he doesnt believe them himself. and he tries to be a leader & hes GOOD at it, but he still doesnt believe in himself, thinks he doesnt deserve being team captain, doesnt ask for his friends help even though they're willing to follow his lead. and at the end of s6a when stiles tells him that hes the alpha now that scotts leaving, he just goes, all nonchalant, "im not an alpha" hes not worried about it or doubts himself or has trouble admitting that. hes not an alpha, obviously, but he doesnt have to be. he can be a leader, the alpha in acting or whatever without having to be The Alpha™
MY POINT IS: he goes through something extremely traumatic, struggles with fear and self doubt, doesnt even open up to his friends about it or ask for help and then still faces his fear and brings himself willingly right back into a situation that caused him trauma. my favorite reckless silly puppy...

Could you do one with Xaden where reader gets hurt during training and he almost loses his shit? I can totally see him and Sygael, along with readers dragon of course, wanting to find the person who hurt them and burn them to a ✨crisp✨ lol.
Gotta have your daily protective and caring shadow boy lol
Injured
Xaden x reader
A/n: not me expanding the No One Left Behind universe (like that’s a thing lol) Cadmus is a beast in this one, he is taking no one’s shit. That sweet puppy dog dragon is gone for now.
Warnings: canon typical violence, mentions of injuries
Sgaeyl had told Xaden what happened seconds before Liam came and got him, panting and out of breath only wheezing out your name. He was now out pacing Liam on the way to the infirmary.
Amon had once again pulled a dangerous stunt during flight training. Flight training. The one time of day no sparring was supposed to happen. Xaden wanted to kill the little prick. He went too far this time and Xaden was at his limit with giving Amon chances.
Pushing the doors open Xaden scans the beds looking for you. His eyes find you on a bed on the far right of the room. You looked pissed as you messed with the bandage around your hand and arm.
You didn’t notice him until he was sitting next to you on the bed, gently taking your hand in his so you’d stop picking at the wraps. You looked up at him and you were fuming.
Xaden scanned your face taking in your injuries. There were cuts all over your face and dried blood coming from your nostrils and smattered on your nose. A nasty bruise went from your temple to your jaw. Xaden picked up the wet cloth on the bedside table, gently wiping the blood from your face.
“You ok sweetheart?” You flopped back on the bed letting out an agitated sound. “I swear I’m going to kill Amon next time I see him.” Xaden wanted to laugh but this wasn’t a joke. “Can I leave yet? I hate the smell in here.”
Xaden nodded, helping you up as you winced from the shooting pain in your ribs. As you walked to Xaden’s room you told him about what happened at flight training. Amon and his poorly behaved dragon attacked you and Cadmus in an impromptu fighting exercise.
Cadmus was thankfully unharmed and went on the offensive quicker than you could tell him to. You had never seen or heard him so pissed off, or using so many swear words. He was so well mannered. Of course Cadmus got Sgaeyl involved, who told Xaden immediately.
“Would it make you feel better to know they’re currently plotting their revenge on Amon?” You let out a laugh, relaxing on Xaden’s soft black covers. “Yes actually. I’d love to see Cadmus lose his mind. Is that why he cut me off?”
You spent that night in Xaden’s arms as he whispered loving words and promises of protecting you, never letting anything like this happen again.
The next afternoon you heard about the beating Xaden gave Amon during morning training. It was so bad Dain had to step in and pull Amon away from Xaden while Garrick, Liam, and Imogen had to restrain him.
Once Amon recovered you were both back at flight training. Xaden was overseeing your squad for the time being, just to make sure Amon understood his death threats were serious.
You had never seen Cadmus look so terrifying, it also didn’t help that he and Sgaeyl were next to each other glowering at anyone who looked at them. Even you were scared to approach him until you heard his voice in your head. “We’re just making sure we get our point across. It’s ok, I’d never hurt you y/n.”
You smile up at him and mount in the saddle, preparing for take off. Xaden mounted after you shooting you a grin once in his saddle.
Looking out at the field you saw Amon. Gods he looked awful. Xaden really did a number on him. “Sgaeyl showed me. It was wonderful, I’d never been so happy to see a fight.” He let out a huff which you took as his laugh.
Once up in the air Cadmus insisted you stay at the back. Just in case anyone tries to attack so he could be ready this time. You weren’t fully convinced by his tone but went with it anyway. Who were you to question the wisdom of a century old dragon?
About an hour in you had a feeling Cadmus was up to something. The squad was flying over a mountain pass you usually avoided because it was a third year course. And Sgaeyl was slowly making her way next to Cadmus.
They gave each other a look that made you and Xaden panic. Then they started to climb at an alarming rate. Their wings beating loudly as wind rushed past you, making you flatten yourself to the saddle. “Cadmus!” You yelled at him. “What are you doing?” “Doing what I should’ve done in the first place.”
Oh shit. That wasn’t good. You thought Xaden was joking when he said they were plotting. Looking down you noticed the other dragons had peeled off, leaving Amon alone to hover over the pass.
Passing each other, Sgaeyl and Cadmus dove for them. Amon’s dragon took the offensive too late and Cadmus got a chunk of his side, biting down hard enough causing the dragon let out an ear piercing shriek.
Letting go he flapped away best he could but Sgaeyl was ahead corralling him. Cadmus let out a roar that you’d never heard from him before. It shook the world around you causing your grip to tighten on him.
Unhinging his jaw as wide as he could, Cadmus let out a gust of flame in Amons direction. His dragon flailed and Sgaeyl went for its eyes. They started dropping fast, his dragon going lifeless. Unfortunately, one of Amon’s friends brought him on his dragon before the loud thud of the dragons body echoed around the mountains.
You couldn’t look away. In awe of what just happened. At least Amon would be a little less dangerous from Now on.
Later that night you were sitting in front of the hearth in the common room staring into the crackling flames as you went over the days events again. You couldn’t stop hearing the echoing thud or the silence from Amon as his dragon died. The way he felt nothing for the thing he was connected too didn’t sit right with you.
Xaden silently approached letting his shadows softly caress you to alert you to his presence. “Hey sweetheart.” You hum acknowledging him. Sitting down, he kisses you on your head. He places a hand on your back to comfort you. “Thinking about today?”
“Yeah.” You said absentmindedly. “I’m not upset they did that. I mean, I am a little. A warning would’ve been nice.” You both let out a chuckle. “Did you know?” “No.” You believe him from the seriousness of his tone.
“What’s still bothering you?” “How Amon didn’t care. At least that’s what it looked like to me. I’d be distraught if that was Cadmus.” Xaden wrapped his arm around your shoulders, resting his head on yours. “I know. He’s a psychopath. But we’ll see what happens.”
You let out another hum, relaxing into his warmth. At least you were safe in the skies now.

Hi can I request shameless X male reader where the reader is like an older brother to the boys and he defends them with his life pretty much it can be and he comforts them with side hugs y'know pulls them in for one especially when they fight with Fiona( nothing against her love her but I wanna comfort the boys y'know) headcanons or a oneshot i don't mind
Anyways have a good day
Yep! Sorry it's not a fic! I'm still a bit sick and I want to get this out before school starts up again!
Request : yes
Type : headcanon
A / N : more shameless stuff!! I'm not mad y'all just need to give me a minute to do some other stuff. All jokes aside this request was fun. Sorry I didn't do Liam!
Carl Gallagher
Knowing Carl you probably come to the rescue... A lot
He starts shit he can't finish
You have to come fight people for him a lot of the time
He also ends up getting people to jump him so... You have to save him then too
When you get injured he makes you deal with it
Its not that he doesn't know how
He just doesn't want to look at injuries he caused
When / after he gets in a fight with hie family he tries to avoid you
He doesn't want to bother you with his issues
You know where he hides though so you can help him
He's more of a " lets not open up.. Lets just stay DEAD SILENT instead "
You'll hug him
He won't admit it but that definitely helps him feel a bit better
Lip Gallagher
He likes to fight people for the hell of it
Lip can hold his own, really
Sometimes you just insist on stepping in cause you're much more responsible than he is and you know when he can't handle a fight or when its not worth it
Your normally pulling Lip out of a fight instead of defending him
He fucking hates it
His brothers appreciate it though
When you do end up fighting someone for Lip and get hurt he tends to your wounds immediately
He scolds you as he does so though, even if its his fault
When he gets in a fight with family he comes straight to you
He probably falls into your arms and just angrily huffs until you comfort him
He's not great with words
You've gotten used to it touch and you comfort him pretty quickly
He likes hugs and is very open about it
Especially yours
Ian Gallagher
Hes probably the more tame of the three boys
Definitely gets in fights he cant handle though
You have to step in and save him all the fucking time
He tries to tell you he's fine
He's not
When you get hurt in a fight he'll patch up your wounds
So scolding
He just explains what he's doing and does everything very gently as if your a child
He hates when you get hurt
You may be a bit older than him but he doesn't give a shit
You two just have a mutual overprotectivness over each other and everyone has picked up on it
After a fight with his familyhe comes to you first
You'll sit with him and he'll explain what's going on
You try your best to give advice
He nods and thinks about what you say as you speak
It almost always ends in you cuddling him while he sleeps
He cannot get in a fight with anyone without being mentally exhausted after
Note: This was not spell checked nor grammer checked! I apologize in advance for the mistakes

do we. do we think scott not only trusted theo because it's a large part of who he is but also because it's something everybody else isn't. thinking of stiles' "because you trust everyone!" in season 5 + scott's "nobody trusts anyone, that's the problem!" in season 2. for so long he'd been the only one to spearhead good faith approaches and de-escalation. just him, a high school kid, while everyone else, his fellow classmates and friends as well as the adults were either acting in bad faith or choosing to follow his lead whether they're skeptical or more open like him. there are other characters who are more humanitarian and optimistic like that, but few who are so active in going out of their way to fight for it on their own convictions until we meet mason in season 5. scott puts his best foot forward with everybody he meets because he honestly just wants to help and his life and everybody in it suddenly has too many problems to count, friend or enemy or otherwise. even jackson, one of the people he's most openly antagonistic towards, he's willing to fight to preserve the life and wellbeing of. this is a part of who scott is, and he can't wait around for anyone else to just decide to give a shit because lives are on the line. that said, he's incredibly willing to ask for help in his idealistic endeavors, he just often asks all these people who have hurt and/or tried to kill him first. because those are most of the people both within reach and powerful enough to help! being helpful is this tunnel-vision for scott and not many characters can match his dedication to it.
and then theo arrives! not just an old friend, but a werwolf, and an omega at that, who just came to join his pack. this isn't the first time that's happened, but it's the first time anybody has gone out of their way to help not just scott but people who need it. theo doesn't need to get roped into beacon hills' messes, scott's messes, that he often apologizes for needing help to clean up, and theo appears to just. want to help. not unconditionally even if scott buys his desire to join the pack, but that's not an overtly selfish desire. theo shows up and asks how can i help and i don't know if any character had done that for scott before, without him either having to ask first or talk them down from killing him before they offer. and i think scott desperately wanted to believe he wasn't the only person built like that. the only person upholding that good will in a constantly hostile environment.
scott does not just up and trust theo immediately and i do resent the fanon that scott just blindly believes people because we see how wary he is for multiple episodes before theo appears to save scott's own beta's life when he couldn't, a one-two punch of apparent proof of theo's goodwill and scott's own shortcomings. even if scott points out how stiles' distrust of all these people didn't pan out, which is true, scott himself was incredibly slow to trust them; derek, the argents, the twins, even derek's betas. even lydia!! all of these people have hurt or been antagonistic towards him and even if the outcome is them having scott's trust down the road, it's only after they've made a gesture that they'll do the right thing or save lives with or without him, just as theo does. scott wants to believe in people, and people often decide to believe in him for this, but i also think he's so so bone-tired of being the only one, and if he takes theo at his word and then actions, he doesn't have to do that alone, maybe. maybe.
and then theo wants to kill him too. and scott trusts him to do the right thing down the road anyway, like he always does with people who try to kill him. do kill him. the only consolation is that it's his beta who goes to bat for believing in someone this time. liam inherits this trait from him, and he can only hope it doesn't get liam killed too. and the thing is that it saves his life, actually! scott trusts liam and liam decided to trust theo so scott trusts that, and theo, to save liam's life when he can't! again!! and theo fucking does!!!can anyone hear me
#j rewatches teen wolf#finally it's somebody else's belief in a person's potential to do the right thing that makes the right thing happen#and it's scott's very own beta :(#if nobody got me scott liam cycle of trust got me#sceo brainworms eating my gray matter#sorry to cry about scott mccall on main do you still wanna be mutuals. sigh 🙄
