The Loyal Pin - Episode 2

I have no idea what I am doing with this space each week. Am I thinking thoughts? Am I recapping the episode? Am I getting anxiety that I'll have to be more selective with the images I use since I'm only allowed thirty yet every second of this show is color-coded? Am I lusting after Pin and my girl Prik? All of the above?! Once again, I have no idea, so let me just get this post started at the beginning with Pin being the saddest Pink Person and cutting all the mangoes within 50 miles because her girlfriend is leaving.

The Blue Beauty Anin sends her loyal and trusty sidekick Prik to keep her girlfriend company while she is busy preparing for her move.

Because she knows no mangoes are safe and apparently papayas too! And while we get a flashback, we see that Pin is wearing blue ribbons in her hair because even if she can't put words to it, she's been in love with her Blue Beauty for a long time.

Probably before she even knew the word "love"

So while Anin is busy making arrangements with her color-coded brother,

Pin is haunting the halls already grieving her loss

Refusing to acknowledge that Anin is leaving (same girl, same)

Losing her appetite (and will to live), which her color-coded mother picks up on

And crushing Prik's spirit with the realization that Anin will be abroad for SEVEN DAMN YEARS!

Basically, Pin is in her sad girl era as she holds Anin's handkerchief and cries into her pillow.

But thankfully Prik acts like a ghost and snitches to her Blue Beauty Boss that their Pink Person is turning into Britney Spear's 2000 classic "Lucky" since "she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart, thinking 'if there's nothing missing in my life then why do these tears come at night?'"

So Anin, in true Blue Beauty, fashion decides to make her girl happy by making food with her and eating it . . . alone since Pin still isn't eating.

And takes up every single waking moment of Pin's time.

They even celebrate Loy Krathong together, but the mood turns sad once Pin finally vocalizes that Anin is leaving FOR SEVEN DAMN YEARS!

So it's time for Anin to leave, and she says goodbye to her color-coded girlfriend and her color-coded aunt.

Oh, and her color-coded brothers!

But she immediately gets to writing her girl because if a letter is late, according to Prik, Pin is painting her nails black and listening to My Chemical Romance's "Ghost of You" on repeat until the letter arrives. Same girl, same.

However, Pin can read between the lines, and even though Anin is saying she is happy and writing about other friends (Anin knows other women?! Not in this sapphic love story she don't!),

Pin knows Anin is not happy and can see the teardrops on the letter as clear as day because they are the same album, but different songs. Alexa, play My Chemical Romance's "I'm Not Okay"!

Fuck it! Just play all of Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge! I'M in my emo feels!

But their SEVEN DAMN YEAR separation is coming to in end which we can tell because their hairstyles have changed, and our Blue Beauty has a plan up her sleeve!

Sidenote: The snow globe on her desk has one character in green and blue and the other is in red and pink. It's them!

But back to the plan! Now that Anin is graduating, she triple-checks with her color-coded family that the highly esteemed prince who just happens to be her dad is going to keep his promise of giving her anything she wants.

Because this bad (blue) bitch is getting the custom-made house she promised her girl! Sis secured the bag!

And Pin is proud as hell of her smarty-pants skirt (since the clothing is historical accurate?).

But as proud as she is of her, in the middle of a room filled with pink, blue, and purple (!!!!) flowers, she looks shocked to see her Blue Beauty right in front of her when the episode ends.

Anin is just full of surprises like appearing out of nowhere and coming back queerer than when she left. Good for her!

Bonus: Anin's mom is a Yellow/Orange Oddity, and I think as the girls continue to age, they will inherit more of their moms' colors into their wardrobes because of generational trauma, gender norms, and whatnot until they break against tradition and be gay do crime each other.

But either way, me and my huge emo album collection will be here doing whatever this is all season!

7 days until valentines

as compensation for my lack of posts, here's a short blurb of miguel with an autistic reader! i'm projecting really hard though

Miguel didn't know where the transition from his to 'our' workspace had begun. It was the little things, you'd leave a small cup with pens in it at his desk without bothering to pick it up after you leave his office. Eventually, that cup became a real pencil holder now you had journals, notebooks, and basically everything that wasn't work related neatly cornered into one part of his desk home with the scattered papers and unfinished gadgets Miguel has.

You also make home at his desk, efficiency was one of your strengths, but your productivity reached maximum capacity whenever you were with him. No words were spoken while the two of you worked, Miguel greatly appreciated it.

Not that he'd mind a little bit of small talk, but he enjoyed silence without feeling like the loneliness was clawing at his insides.

Though normally you (almost inhumanely) finished your work way earlier than he did, but you didn't leave. No, you didn't.

This habit of maintaining his presence while you're off doing something kept even when you were pursuing your own personal interests, Miguel would catch you on your laptop chatting to your friends whenever he had to check something on one of his monitors.

Other times, you'd have headphones on. Listening to music or catching up on one of your shows, your reactions are as muddled as they can be to not disturb. But one moment, he'll look away with you completely deadpan then look back to see your jaw widely agape and pupils blown wide from devastation.

Tonight was no different, if anything more convenient for you because a new episode of this unnamed media just dropped. Admittedly, your expressions and small noises entertained him as he worked. You did try to be discreet, but that super hearing of his could pick up on your small gasps and 'aww's on opposite sides of a workspace.

His concentration is broken when you practically slam your laptop shut, packing your earbuds into their case with an audible snap. You hop off of your place and solemnly walk over to where Miguel is standing, he quirks a brow at you.

Uncharacteristically, you slump your head against his shoulder with the biggest frown he's ever seen you in. "They're not getting back together, Miguel."

"Oh?" maybe feeding into your theatrics wasn't a smart decisions, but analytics dulled in comparison to whatever was going on inside your head. "Who?" he continued to interrogate.

"My only reason for light and happiness, my true inspiration for spreading love and joy across every corner of the multiverse." Miguel rolls his eyes. "Do not give me sass right now, I am so upset."

He genuinely can't tell if you're joking or not, perhaps a mix of both. "I don't get how I'm supposed to sympathize with this ex-couple when I don't even know the title of their story?"

"It's a cartoon. You'll laugh."

"Cartoon or animated?"

You quirk your eyebrow this time. "Huh?"

"I'm asking you, cartoon or animated? There's a difference, animated features aren't always classified as cartoons. Cartoon is more of a term for animated medias directed towards children. Aren't you the one more adept at this topic?"

He looks at you with an almost-smirk. It's teasing at his lips, full and plump. There are many sensations that you hold resentment for, but one you've always wanted experience is Miguel's lips against yours. The ultimate sensory triumph, all you've been waiting for.

God, you want to kiss him.

"Yeah, I- uh, animated. I mean, animated."

"Tell me about it when I'm not trying to keep the world from ending, please?" he grumbles, and you raise your head off of his shoulder. Damn right you'll tell him about it, and probably kiss him after too.

Pogues to the rescue!

A/N: Guess who's back? back again? It's moi! I apologize for how extremely long this took, life got in the way 🙂 also I did change the request a bit, and got some inspiration from the midsummers episode, hope that's okay! Oh and Sarah is not part of the Pogues for the sake of the story (not my gif)

The last few hours of your life have been a bore. You were stuck at this table with egocentric old kook people who could only talk about their 'perfect' lives and their well-succeeded grandchildren. You tried your best to show interest, but your mind kept drifting off. You nodded politely at them, and every so often, you mustered up a fake smile to make them think that you were listening to their boring stories.

When you noticed that their attention was no longer on you, which was hardly surprising considering how egocentric they all are, you quietly got up from the table and left. After quickly scanning the backyard in search of your mother, you, fortunately, spotted her in a conversation with her best friends. Taking advantage of the opportunity, you made your way inside the house to use the bathroom.

As you sat down on the toilet, you felt relieved. Not only because you could finally pee, but also after hours of miserably pretending to be anything close to a Kook, you could let your guard down here, even if it was just for a few minutes.

Taking your phone from your clutch, you check for any notifications that you might have missed in the last few hours. While scrolling through Instagram, you noticed your boyfriend had posted a video on his story. In the video, JJ was smoking his Juul, surrounded by the rest of the Pogues who were dancing and singing to some song in the background.

JJ's happy smile, as he hung out with the Pogues, made you feel a sense of joy for him. The Pogues are his true family and he deserves to be this happy and comfortable all the time. Sometimes you were jealous of their relationship. Even though your family has money and shows their love and care for you in their own, unique way, you've always felt like you don't quite fit in with them. It's as if you're the odd one out. At least the Pogues always have each other and their bond is unbreakable.

You snapped a quick selfie and sent it to JJ, showing him how extremely bored you were. After putting your phone back in your clutch bag, you let out a deep sigh, realizing you had to get back to the party before your mom would put up 'missing child' posters. However, as you reached for the door handle, you heard your ringtone go off. A picture you had taken of JJ at the beach during sunset a few weeks ago, filled your phone screen. A warm feeling spread through your chest as you answered the phone, grateful that he had taken the time to call you back.

"Party that bad, huh?", JJ chuckled as he spoke.

"If I have to listen to these fake people for a minute longer, I'll pull a van Gogh myself"

You could hear JJ snickering. "That's one way to answer that question"

"Can't you just hack into a system and send some emergency alert or something?", you whined.

"Honey, I'm definitely not as smart as Pope, but what I can do is try to sneak you away?"

"Tempting as that sounds, my mom would kill me"

"C'mon baby, we both know your mom loves her reputation too much to kill her daughter", JJ joked.

You rolled your eyes. "Very funny JJ, besides I don't want to be a burden to the rest of the Pogues."

You heard JJ scoff. Since knowing JJ, you've met the Pogues a few times, yet each meeting seemed to grow more awkward than the previous one. JJ always reassures you that the rest of the Pogues just have a hard time getting comfortable around the idea that he is dating a kook, or well just kooks in general, and that it's never because of your personality. "Before you know it, they will love you as much as I do", was what he told you occasionally. But you just can't help taking it personal.

"Y/n, stop being so stubborn, and let us help you. I want you here as much as you want to leave that party. Be ready in ten. I won't take no for an answer."

You were about to protest, but before you could, the distant chatter of the other Pogues in the background went silent, indicating that JJ had already ended the call.

After giving yourself a final look in the mirror and letting out another heavy breath, you opened the door and made your way back to the party outside.

Everyone was still engrossed in conversation, and it appeared that no one noticed you had been gone. It gives you a glimmer of hope that you might be able to slip away from the party without your parents noticing. However, at the same time, you can't help but recall a few years ago when you did the same thing, only to receive a month-long grounding from them.

After nervously looking ahead for a while, and making up different scenarios in your head, you suddenly feel a tap on your shoulder. Irritated, thinking it's one of your parents wanting to remind you to be more social, you turn around.

"You look like you could use another drink. Can I maybe offer you this one?"

In front of you stood JJ, dressed up as a waiter, holding a champagne glass. He gave you that annoying but charming smirk of his.

You took the champagne from him and chugged the entire drink, making JJ chuckle.

"Thanks, you always know exactly what I need babe"

You and JJ both laughed and you turned around looking for your parents. Your mother was still talking to her friends, while your father discussed work matters as usual.

"C'mon, let's go before my parents see us leaving". You were still nervous about the consequences, but decided that, that would be a problem for later. There's nothing you want more than to be with JJ right now.

JJ took your hand and quickly led you to the front of the house. Before reaching the gate, he suddenly stopped and gave you a kiss.

"Hi baby", he spoke softly.

You smiled. "Hi, Jay".

JJ gestured with his head towards the gate. "The others are right outside waiting for us." He squeezed your hand to reassure you that it was going to be okay. You nodded and followed him.

As you turned the corner, you saw the rest of the Pogues waiting next to the Twinkie. They were talking, but stopped abruptly when they saw the two of you approaching. Pope waved shyly towards you, while John B approached you enthusiastically. "That was quick"

"Yeah, I thought those kooks would give you more trouble", Kie said, rolling her eyes and emphasizing the words 'those kooks'. You saw Pope nudge Kiara. “Sorry, no offense to you of course”, she quickly realized her mistake. You smiled weakly and shrugged your shoulder. 'Well, luckily I don't see myself as a Kook'.

There was an awkward silence until JJ cleared his throat and walked over to the Twinkie to open the door. "Let's go back to the Chateau shall we?"

After reading @secriden post here about how prapai takes "it's okay" and doesn't say it to say it! but as he says he shows sky with his actions. It reminds me of every time i watch episode 13 and I get to the ending scene here when sky tells prapai thank you for waking me up from my nightmare listen that THAT is so emotional, it leaves you honestly so misty-eyed cause sky is truly saying he is able to finally begin to rest. Something he hasn't been able to for a very long time. This has been a reoccurring nightmare for him and early on in the story you can see sky accept it for what it was.That this was his life now that he's going to have to just have these sleepless nights he's never going to rest. He's gonna comfort himself and tell himself it's okay though he doesn't believe it for a second.

Sky doesn't rest and so as a domino effect when u don't rest u don't stay healthy. We see sky neglecting himself he doesn't eat or often forgets to. It's so bad that he drives himself to be sick. And He's forced to actually not work and rest or atleast attempt to. Cause when he's sick the nightmares dont go away till pai stays with him that night and day. Holding his hand not leaving his side.

Sky has accepted that love is not for him as I said before it's a trigger for him just a clear threat in plain sight. And so he's accepted that he's not going to think for a second waste any thought or time that he's even actually worth of thinking that someone will actually be serious about him. Let alone believing that someone will find him endearing and cute and just wants to dote on him constantly. Not when sky doesn't believe it himself he doesn't think he's anything special handsome beautiful.

But meeting Pai and sky truly seeing what he deserves!! Seeing love truly in its most selfless and most beautiful ways while also being reciprocated! Pai didn't fix him as people like to say but he gave sky that second chance of hope just a simple try. Try to open your heart to me, try to see me as not someone who's going to hurt you, try to allow yourself to trust yourself and your feelings. And sky felt feelings as we saw that he tried to deny and play it off and tell himself constantly it's nothing it won't be anything prapai is the last person on earth to be ever serious about anyone. With all the while we saw how he likes how pai has been cheesy with him very consistent with how he's been showing up. He shows up even on the days when sky doesn't think he will hence when he's sick at the freshman orientation project. But he does even when prapai physically isn't there just with the simple lunch, dinners on his doorknob as a reminder for him to eat. I think it's so beautiful that sky is able to finally say that he can rest and allow himself to begin the healing process.

With a partner who has the utmost respect for him. Whoever loves him more than anything in the world and would do anything for him. Prapai is constantly overwhelmed with his love for sky it's so endearing. He tells him how his smile and hugs makes his day. Sky could now go to sleep with the man he loves and wake up with the man he loves in his arms. Even simply just laying in bed with him and his heart will immediately just felt like ease in this safeness. He doesn't have to second guess it cuz he's confident in his relationship and the love they have for each other. The nightmares have taken so much of his life. It's time for him to fully rest and embrace this calmness and warmth that he thought he would never feel from anyone is so touching you really think about when he says that to him.

Prapai saying it's his duty! As in it's his absolute honor to take care of him he doesn't see this as a burden or an inconvenience or hindrance. What sky went through won't just go away and they know that. But prapai has put in the work and will continue to make that commitment to them. They will continue together to grow together while building their relationship.🥺

Misconceptions of Sherlock and Co

Here I am going to list some misconceptions that I saw before getting into Sherlock and Co that I felt need to be corrected for any new people trying to listen. The things listed might be dubbed critiques. If you are someone who does not like criticism on your favorite pieces of media, please show yourself out now.

Johnlock is endgame

I beg every Sherlock lover who love the stories in every variation and specifically Johnlock, please stop setting yourselves up for disappointment. Unless it is explicitly said, don't believe it's canon. The reason why I say this is when this podcast first started to come out, everyone said johnlock was going to happen. Those are some of the most popular tiktoks about Sherlock and Co. And I won't lie, it was the push that made me listen to the podcast. I can't find where I saw it please if you can find it, send it to me. They said, the creators, that wasn't within their plans. John and Mariana though? I don't know if it'll actually happen, but it just feels like that's what they're pushing towards. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but the name Mariana is a lot like Mary. Speaking of Mariana--

It's just John and Sherlock

It may appear like that for a couple of episodes, but Mariana becomes an essential part of the team and she is here to stay. If you were one of the people who just wanted the boys, you're probably going to be disappointed because that is not the case here. Mrs. Hudson whose real name is Mariana also helps in solving crimes. Usually I would say if you didn't like Molly appearing in episodes, you also might not like this. But Mariana actually has some type of depth. So maybe you'll actually enjoy her appearances in episodes.

These Are New Interpretations of Sherlock and John

Yes and no. This might be controversial, but it didn't feel new. And it didn't feel like ACD's characterization. John and Sherlock's characterizations seems like they took a lot of inspiration from bbc Sherlock even down to some of the mannerisms especially the way they speak. It feels almost like fanfiction where they took the bbc Sherlock character interpretations of John and Sherlock and put them in an alternate universe. Over time though, they seem to be straying and they're now becoming their own characters. But if you told me at the beginning, "oh this is a new podcast based on bbc Sherlock fanfiction" I would've believed it.

POC Friendly

LOOK LISTEN, I'm not saying they're spouting out slurs. But someone, a white person, posted this is a poc friendly podcast. When I heard that, I assumed certain things. I assumed they had POC cast and crew, they had sensitivity writers, cultural consulting, etc. The cast and crew, respectfully, are majority if not completely white. I remember looking up Sherlock's voice actor after seeing all the fanart and I was so confused seeing a white man. Now this doesn't mean that POC should run away from it, but this does mean that when they say/do certain stuff there's no one to tell them "hey maybe let's not do that." There are instances that felt ignorant and unnecessary. In the Blue Carbuncle, they read a letter or a transcript from someone who saw an incident in the street (avoiding spoilers). I don't know how to phrase this, but it felt very much like they were mimicking some type of POC (most likely black). And they didn't put on a blaccent or anything, but just the fact that it was a white writer writing this making fun of how they spoke rubbed me the wrong way. And it went on far too long. Then there was Sherlock bowing at an Asian restaurant and John told him it was inappropriate, but I was stuck on why was it added? It wasn't humor and didn't have to do with a case. It shows Sherlock's ignorance, sure, but it just really didn't add anything. When it comes to content made by white british people, the bar on racial awareness for me is to the ground. I don't expect them not to have ignorant moments. But stuff like that, it is something that should be accounted for when you try to say something like it's "poc friendly." So would I say POC friendly, not really. Is it welcoming of everyone no matter what race or ethnicity? Yes. There's not a sign on the podcast that says POC do not enter, but be aware what majority demographic is a part of this and that they probably are going to say stuff out of ignorance.

I've been meaning to write this post for awhile, but I haven't gotten around to it. Plus, I wanted to see if anything else changed before I made a post. I genuinely don't see this as critiques just pointing out stuff for those who might go in thinking this podcast is something it's not. But I still put the criticism warning for people who might not want to see this. I really enjoy this podcast and it inspired me to read the original stories. They put a new spin on these stories that's modern, different, and still entertaining.

Sure thing! I decided to go with two different options here :)

: ̗̀➛ It will take Zen some time to educate himself and fully come to terms with all the nuances of chronic pain or fatigue if you're someone who is dealing with it in their daily life. Though I don't think he is completely unaware of it either. As I'm sure I've stated before, he definitely has disabled fans with whom he has interacted before. It's pretty reasonable to assume that at least a few fans with chronic pain and/or fatigue would approach him or send him their letters of appreciation, detailing their lives to him.

But he will be upset for you.

The way you react to it is entirely up to you, but I do think he will go through a phase of accidentally smothering you with his worry for your well-being. Telling you to rest when you say you're fine, doing easy tasks for you that you can perfectly do by yourself, and constantly asking if you're experiencing a flare-up or not. He has good intentions. He really does. Zen truly does view you as such an admirable and strong-willed person, but it simply breaks his heart to think of you struggling with anything by yourself when you already have such a difficult battle to endure almost every day.

You will most definitely have to share many sincere conversations with him about the topic. Set clear boundaries and educate him on the specific needs you do have. It won't be picture-perfect from the get-go, but Zen loves you to the moon and back. If you thought he was hardworking before, wait until you see all the work and commitment he puts into your relationship.

With time, you two will work out almost everything, even the smallest of details in your routines. He understands what you require during a flare-up. He knows when to leave you alone and when you'd rather have him hold your hand and coo into your hair loving words of reassurance, placing kisses to the crown of your head. And he ensures that you always have all the medication you may need in easy access.

Zen learns to let you make all the decisions you need, and you learn to rely on him whenever you want.

: ̗̀➛ And if you have a chronic mental illness, it's not much easier. People often undermine just how much your mental health can affect every single aspect of your life. I think Zen may be a bit less knowledgeable here. You're going to have to educate him on your disability, and how it affects you specifically. But despite being a bit clueless, Zen is not disrespectful by any means.

He will listen to you to talk without interruption, his hands clutched together on his knees, and his eyes completely focused on you. Knowing how much you're struggling will make his heart ache for you. Especially hearing jusy how hard it can be get basic respect from people when your disability isn't immediately noticed by human eyes. You can count on him to place a gentle hand on your shoulder and promise to always be there for you when you need him.

It's not going to be simple. And both of you will face challenges navigating your relationship. Zen will especially struggle with communication in this instance. Much like him taking on a role of a caretaker as I wrote prior, he will end up making the same mistake here. Only this time, it'll be him neglecting his own emotional needs and being hypersensitive to your mood changes throughout the day. He simply doesn't want to worry you or to cause you any more stress... Especially when you are dealing with a depressive episode, for exactly. Communication is something you two are going to have to work at one step at a time.

But Zen is nothing but stubborn. And he's very much stubborn about his love for you. When he was considering giving up on himself, you have been there for him and believed in him like no one else did. He is determined to demonstrate the same level of dedication to you, if not even more so. No matter what hurdles you two face, he will always be there to hold you tight and remind you just how much he loves you, at the end of the day.

I also kind of think that you dealing with a chronic mental illness will increase his awareness of the topic of mental health as a whole. His fans will probably see him donating to mental health charities and research, promoting mental health awareness in Korea, and advocating for the visibility of chronic mental health disabilities.

Arthur sacking Merlin? Arthur treating Merlin how he's treating Gaius right now? Because, truthfully, with the power that Arthur has, any of these options is viable. The weight of it is different. Even if he would never hurt them, it doesn't matter, he has the POWER to. That's what's so scary. And then he wonders why Merlin doesn't tell him things. How can he?

okay @potatoes-tomatoes just posted a character analysis on ed, and it was such an incredible take that i had to make my own post to add on to it. the link to their post is HERE, please check it out!

i think oftentimes edd is regarded as being an intelligent, genius-type and eddy is noted as being the classic scam artist/conman archetype, and while these are great, i think ed is sometimes written off as being a goofball or silly friend. this is (obviously) not an incorrect take by any means, as much of ed's persona IS comic relief/goofiness, but one aspect of ed that i always think about is that ed is CREATIVE.

ed is interested in art, comics, television/film, costumes, even dancing and music! ed is consistently an artistic mastermind, and beyond arts, ed is creative and imaginative in his head, too. his obsessions with monsters, aliens, all sorts of creatures in comic books/films are very noticeable through his character in the series. from the monster ed episode to him sketching "photos" of the cul-de-sac kids, it's a reoccurring theme that ed is creative.

on the post by @potatoes-tomatoes , they note that ed's character arc is notably less explored throughout the show, and this is something i definitely agree with. until reading their post, i never thought of a great explanation for why this is. there are also the commonly raised questions about neglect/abuse with ed (as with most of the characters, to be fair) especially in the instances of sarah's degrading behavior to him and his parents letting him be disturbingly unhygienic and doing things like taking away his stairs and the implied physical punishment he would get from his father at the end of that one episode. these (reasonably) raise a lot of questions about ed's backstory/developmental concerns, but what this poster said was very insightful—ed seems to suffer from a classic case of his younger sibling being the favorite.

emotional neglect is a very real thing, and while some signs have pointed to physical abuse or genuine physical/parental neglect, i think emotional neglect is clearly the most impactful result of trauma that ed has suffered from. his "outbursts" of noise and innapropriate laughter/timing for comments and jokes are all notable effects of this, and his lack of boundaries and personal space with his friends and difficulties with hygiene/self-care can also be linked back to an unstable relationship with his assumed primary emotional caregivers—his parents.

now, this is probably a good reason for ed's astounding creativity and array of niche/expansive interests as well. he finds peace and individuality, as well as affirming and inspiring things in his interests. they belong to him, and he gets to cultivate that section of his world, making it comfortable and he therefore feels more "understood." it's definitely possible that ed is just a creative guy, but it's also likely that this creativity is exacerbated by his lack of emotional support from his parents.

this leads to where he would find emotional support—the eds.

what @potatoes-tomatoes said about the eds acting as ed's parents makes a TON of sense, and it makes even more sense when considering that ed's character development arc happened before the show started or, alternatively, is a subliminal thing happening every episode, every season. they encourage ed's creativity and take his voice into account for scams and such. they listen to ed, even when he doesn't make very much sense. they support and acknowledge his interests, even when they use it for scams/science, and they engage in his interests by asking him about said interests and affirming his own interest in these things. they support him and engage with him, and they don't exclude him from anything, even though he may not fully understand what's taking place. he has an established role as a part of the trio, and specifically in the episode of ed getting grounded, they NOTICE when he isn't around.

they notice, and they care. they just him out of his room, and ed is instantly shining when he sees his friends faces—proof that the emotional impact they have on him is HUGE, doing things for his mood and self-esteem that things like getting his stairs taken away or being locked in the basement are suddenly turned near-irrelevant. ed clearly values the hell out of having an emotional connection to his friends, one that validates his identity and existence, and supports his creativity and imagination. the support he lacks from his parents is made very clear in his affection and loyalty to his friends, who honor and appreciate him.

this is my add to the take mentioned before, and before i get comments about how eddy and eddy torment ed i want to put a disclaimer that yes i know they take advantage of him at times and they are cruel, and they might not be the *best* friends on paper. i just mean that generally ed is obviously comfortable and feels cared for/loved by his friends which is clearly very important to him

It's not often you take the time to sit outside. Well, actually, it's more like you don't have the time to do such. Really, you'd love nothing more than to spend entire evenings sprawled on a bench, catching some sun rays and listening to the chirping of avian wildlife. It's just not in the cards for you right now.

However, you need it.

Lately, you've been afflicted with something you have no name for. Burning waves of need have you waking up in the dead of night sweating like a whore in a church, body yearning for anyone to touch it, fill it. Your fingers cramp and there's nothing that can satisfy you when these episodes start. You tried to rationalize it, wondering if you were having some sort of worrying hormone imbalance, especially when these moments became more and more common throughout the day. Shame and confusion quickly shut down the possibility of consulting a doctor about this, so you've been suffering through this odd affliction silently, hoping it'll fade on its own.

When this unrequited, inexplicable arousal gets in the way of your daily tasks, you've developed the habit of going outside and basking in the light, feeling the warmth on your skin, hearing people passing by as you sit perfectly still with your eyes closed. While you wouldn't exactly call this meditation, focusing on evening out your often sped up breathing has some effect in dampening the heat in your loins.

The touch on your arm has you yelping a lot louder than you needed to, glancing around frantically until you spot him to your left side.

The demon... Uh, hybrid? To be frank, you have no idea what Brenti is. Nor are you about to ask, you should have when you first met him, but the time for that has passed now- It would sound rude. Nevertheless, the tall monster stands to your side with a bright, sharp-toothed smile.

He's more than a little odd. You remember meeting him only about two or so weeks ago, he introduced himself as a resident of Hell looking to move in somewhere on the surface, and you two really hit it off. There's a sort of mystic charm to the apparently eyeless demonoid. He's clearly out of sorts here, subjected to the stares of every local for standing out like a sore thumb, but his eagerness to try and fit in, his optimism, quickly made you develop a growing fondness for the monster. Plus, he seems to deal with the foreign attention pretty well- In fact, you've seen him get approached by some of the more outgoing, daring folk. You're pretty sure he's single though.

Which is almost paradoxical given how attractive he is. He's... Very good looking, in a unique way. You've never seen anything like him, and you hope Brenti can't tell when your stare lingers- If he can, he doesn't look bothered by it.

" Woah! H- Hey, were you asleep? " He starts, tail wagging at your jarring reaction, watching you try to compose yourself.

" N... No, I just got lost in thoughts. " You shrug, forcing yourself to look elsewhere.

His presence isn't helping your case. In fact, it's doing the opposite. The last thing you need right now is to have to interact with the good-looking go-getter that's been buzzing around. Unfortunately, Brenti seems to favor your company above most other locals'.

" Oh. It's kind of nice seeing you out here! You're always busy, aren't you? "

His hand has not left your shoulder and you're starting to sweat again. What a weird thing to say... Has he been hoping to see you more?

" More or less, you know how life is, right? " Weird, life has gotten very weird recently.

The demonoid nods. " Uhuh, you work really hard, it's pretty inspiring. "

You blink. It always catches you a little off guard when he compliments you. The way Brenti says things makes it unclear if he's flirting or being genuine. Maybe he just says that to everyone? It's not as if you watch him interact with others too much, but he always has an excitable look on his face. The one time you saw him frown was when another monster walked up to him.

" That's sweet of you, uhm, thanks. "

Awkwardness settles, you gulp and play with the hem of your shirt. Brenti stays quiet for a couple of moments, you think you heard him inhale sharply, but then he clears his throat.

" So... I was wondering if you wanted to take a walk with me. " He eventually breaks the silence, offering you a slightly less confident demeanor, but one full of hope nonetheless.

" R-Right now? " You're sure you're wet enough to almost be making a puddle on the fucking bench, overheating your body even more is far from a good idea.

" Sure! I mean- Only if you feel like it of course. But, to be honest, I've wanted to talk to you a bit more. You're so pretty. "

" Ah... " Somewhat shakily getting up, your eyes roam everywhere but the monster's general direction. Though it seems he's not content with that, quickly striding to almost glue himself to you. Did he always smell this good? " Thanks. " You sound like a broken record.

Should you return the compliment? It'll look kind of weird if you don't.

" You're uh- You're- " God fucking damn it, what are you even supposed to say?

" ... Yeah? "

Brenti begins walking leisurely anyway, and you quickly follow, aware he's very avidly waiting for you to to finish the sentence. Something about his attitude feels a lot more intense out of nowhere.

It takes a painful amount of time before you settle on something, probably because your mind isn't thinking of wholesome flattery. " You're very unique. " You fucking idiot, he's going to take that as an insult. " In a good way! I've just... Never really seen anyone like you before. "

The monster beside you beams very visibly, smile crawling further up his face. But wherein Brenti'll only smile and laugh when others toss flattery at him, you note he bares his gums to you, tongue flicking out to wet his thin dark lips. His subsequent smile is less cordial, less natural.

" That's sweet of you. " He parrots, mockingly maybe, it's hard to read him.

You're not paying attention to where either of you are going, limiting yourself to following the larger one's slight lead. It's only after a couple of silent minutes trying to reign in your hormones that you realize he's leading you deeper into the park. Well, you are on a walk with him, this is only normal... The notion doesn't ease your sudden attentiveness.

And you were right to feel slight uneasiness, because the monster eventually halts right in front of you. There's a purr steadily rising from his chest.

" You're wet. " He eventually comments, tail swishing rapidly behind you. " Like really, really wet. "

An already stressed heart skips several beats. What- What are you even supposed to say to that? It didn't occur to you that he'd be the type of monster than can sense that- Probably because monsters aren't that common around these parts. You never had to consider things like that before.

Frozen, you offer the demonoid a terrified glance.

" Can I taste you? "

" What?! No- What the fuh- "

He takes one step forward, forcing you to take one back. " Oh, but I can fix it, you need help, it's okay! " Brenti tries that winning smile again, but its charm dies on arrival. " You know, I didn't think it'd work so fast. "

You don't even want to ask. " ... Brenti, step back. "

He doesn't. You know you're defenseless against a monster like him in this state.

" You've been responding so well to me already! " The monster leers. " I didn't think my cum would take that fast, you must really love me. "

The world stops spinning. Shaky hues meet a white canvas of a face, searching for a hint of a joke that's not there. Who is this guy?

" Your... You- Your... "

Brenti lowers a hand to his slit, shamelessly touching himself as he steps further and further towards you, scenting the air with his tongue out. You mirror his steps backwards.

That one hallucination of Moon line:

it cut so deeply... I felt in on a very personal level...

And this is something I talked about in that one post about Sun ("I think I know why Sun yelled at Lunar" or something like that). That he always felt like he made everything worse. From the beginning.

He tried to stop Moon from killing but he feels like he made it worse, that he caused Moon to suffer and it only fuelled Moon's kill code. But at the same time what else Sun could do? He couldn't let Moon kill innocents! Because what brother would let their own brother (and twin at that) to kill someone? Definitely not a good one.

But I think that Sun really feels like he could still do better than that.. like maybe he could do something else to help Moon even though we all know that he couldn't. He couldn't do anything beside keeping Moon inside their head.

I don't know how many of you know how it is to want to help someone you love, someone you care about but being unable to... You're getting more and more desperate as you watch someone harming themselves by their choices... You try your best to help but nothing seems to change anything... Or sometimes you even think that you're making things worse for that person...

I think that's how Sun feels most of the time. I hope that all of you will understand that. But I know that it's hard to understand someone if you're not in their shoes. That's why we need empathy.. because then we can grasp how this person feels without fully understanding the situation.

I was on both sides. I was in Sun's shoes but also in Moon's shoes. I don't know how it is to lose your memories though.. but I can assume that it must to be really hard. But at the same time what Moon is doing right now.. isn't helping Sun at all. I always had a feeling that Moon won't be able to help Sun. Sun needs someone else to help him. Not Moon and not Earth. Someone unrelated to him. Someone who won't shout at him and judge his every word and action. Someone who would just listen. Because that's what Sun needs right now. Someone who will listen to him. After that they can say some of the hard truths because if Sun would open up, he'll be able to listen because he'll be free from the burden of keeping everything in himself.

But Moon isn't the right person for that. I don't even know if Earth is the right person. Sometimes you need someone else. Even kind stranger might turn out to be more helpful than your own family.

The most hurtful thing to me was that in the comments under the latest episode people were justifying Moon's assholness. Just like it was with Old Moon. People were always able to find a way to justify Old Moon's actions. And we need to accept that that New Moon is acting exactly the same way Old Moon was.

New Moon is more caring but it ended quickly. Because Sun was lying to him about his own problems and that Sun was harming himself behind Moon's back. I know that these things hurt. But trust me I was in similar situation. And I didn't act like Moon. Moon is doing exactly the same thing Old Moon would do which is focusing only on his own feelings. Only Moon is expressing his own feelings. Just like always. Sun can't do that because Moon yet again is not letting him.

That's hard truth. But it is something that fandom need to realise. Things are repeating once again. But is it really only Sun's fault? No. It's also Moon's fault as well. If you're unable to see that then that's your problem.

Im gonna be honest I said I was gonna do author q&a today specifically so I could answer this ask because I feel weird just answering it willy-nilly

I tend to be... pretty bad at storytelling. I always get wayyy too into my own head, and things get so complicated to a degree where only I can understand whats going on, which is something im obviously trying very hard to avoid. However I don't wanna sacrifice the story I want to tell, so I'm just doing my best here.

One of the biggest limitations right now is that I'm just struggling to explain exactly how the world works/the translation between "Utah" and irl/us. The biggest ones are time and what exactly is being aired, because obviously it doesn't take one whole day to answer two questions, but I don't have the energy to answer more than two q's per day. And of course the 'film crew' arent actually filming Wilbur while he's sleeping or anything like that, but it's hard to tell the story I want to tell without having scenes like that. Im hoping that things will get smoother as we go, but for now I've just been making it so that episodes that dont have 'transcript's in them aren't filmed (or have "artist rendition" notes), and lets say that even though its been over a month of answering questions for us, it's only been two or three weeks for wilbur.

As for what you guys are, you're viewers who are calling in from home! Kinda like a radio show. No one is physically showing up to the store or his house (that would be really funny though). I did have some scrapped ideas that I may bring back later about the film crew, but for now "they" dont have any deeper place in the story. I'm the camera man, I guess! I've been imagining it as just some guy with a camera in one hand, a headset to listen to calls, and a little paper pad to write down answers.

Aron couldn't quite place what was wrong. She was stressed, but not anymore than usual. Her boyfriend, Sam, had been as amazing as usual. Her family drama was calm, all things considered. Nothing was truly wrong.

Yet, she found herself stuck in bed for days. At some point, those days turned to weeks. She wasn't sure how long it had been since she left the house for anything outside of necessity, like work. She'd even stopped going on her morning jogs with Sam, their workouts far and few between as of lately. She makes sure he goes and does what he wants, not wanting him to worry about her.

She didn't want to hold him back.

She felt herself slip into a depressive episode every so often. Some were longer and worse than others, and this happened to be one of the worst ones. Typically, she'd have at least enough energy to get up and be with Sam, but at the moment it felt tired to breathe.

“Doofus,” Sam said as he walked into the room, taking in the sight of Aron. She was curled on her side and facing away, blankets pulled tightly around him.

Aron tried not to sniffle as she held back sobs, hoping to give the impression she'd fallen asleep. Sam was able to sense her energy though, the strong depression easily able to be sensed. 

He frowned and climbed into bed behind her, his arms wrapping firmly around her waist and pulling her against his chest. Aron held her breath as she tried not to cry, her eyes clamping shut. She snuggled back against him in her ‘sleep,’ her arms resting over his.

“Do you wanna talk about it?” Sam asked her, trying not to seem as worried as he felt.

Aron didn't answer for a few minutes as she weighed her options. She hated worrying him, hated inconveniencing him, hated knowing she was hurting him. But telling him something she couldn't quite understand herself felt so exhausting, but she knew it was the better option, even if it was one of the last things she wanted to do.

Eventually she sighed and shifted in his arms, causing him to loosen his hold more. He watched as she turned around, facing him, her eyes and cheeks wet with tears. 

His lips pulled into a tight frown as one arm moved under her head as a pillow. His other hand came up to her face, his thumb gently brushing the wetness away before he gently began combing his fingers through her purple hair. His fingertips massaged her scalp Soothingly as he waited, infinitely patient for her to start talking.

“I…don't know what it is,” she told him, her chin wobbling. “I just feel shitty, it happens for no reason, and it sucks, and I'm sorry. You don't deserve to be treated the way I'm treating you. You deserve so much more,” her voice broke at the last word, a sob finally escaping her throat as she started to cry more.

He pulled her tighter against him as he shushed her, letting her cry into his chest. He placed soothing kisses on her head and rubbed her back, shushing her softly. “Hey, hey, it's okay. That's not true, alright?”

Sam felt her shake her head. “No, it is. I- I can't- I promise I'm trying. I'm not trying to be a bad person on purpose. I just- I don't know what's wrong with me,” she argued, almost pulling back but letting herself be comforted by his touch.

“Shh, nothing's wrong with you. You aren't a bad person. You're going through a shitty time, but that doesn't make you bad.” 

Aron felt him kiss her head more, holding her close. “I just want to help,” Sam told her. “However, I can. Whether you need to kick my ass to get your anger out, or someone to listen, or if you ever just wanna lay here and play video games to distract you. Whatever it is, I gotcha, I promise.”

Eventually Arons crying calmed down, his words and hold on her comforting. It made her feel safe and sound. 

“Thank you,” she said a few moments later, her voice still raw. 

“Yeah, no problem…” he answered and pressed his lips against her forehead. “I'm here for you, alright? I love you.”

Aron’s blue-green eyes fluttered open to look up at him. She sniffled and managed a very soft smile. Obviously, she knew she wasn't healed. But in Sam's arms with his words, it felt less distressing.

“I love you too, Aomaris.”

Loving your podcast (except the amount of “ums” used in every sentence ;) )! I shared it with my husband as we venture into our dd/ds journey. It’s very refreshing to hear a real couple and their real perspectives from fetish/kink POV’s. I know you’ve talked a lot about your DD and spanking fetish; but how did you actually start/come out to CD about these things? What was his initial reaction?

Sorry for the late reply, I was a bit triggered by your 'joke' about my overuse of "ums". I believe in at least one podcast episode I addressed how I am self-conscious about how I am not a graceful speaker and how it makes editing difficult because I am not a linear speaker or thinker. I lose my train of thought frequently, struggle to find words, etc. So, I do say 'um' excessively, it's way worse IRL than on the podcast as we edited the vast majority of them out. Not all can be removed as it would break the flow of conversation or whatever else. We tried to edit to make things a little more cohesive and easier to listen to. So, yeah, what I basically got from your message was 'this person finds you annoying even when your way of speaking is cleaned up more than 50%' and that's painful even though it's true, I wish you hadn't told me that as I can't really do anything about it, it's just part of how my ADHD or other neurodivergence works. I felt like I should respond to that portion as I'm working on using my voice to defending myself, being less of a people pleaser, accepting myself and having more self-compassion/respect, etc. But I don't want to dwell so, moving on to the far more enjoyable part of your ask!

I think I've shared how I 'came out' to CD at some point in the past but I don't recall what blog post(s) that would have been in. If I come across them later I'll try to reblog for you. It's now been about 10 years since I asked for DD, and I had told CD about my interest in spanking prior to that, though I don't really recall when that was. So, my memory is not super detailed at this point but I'll try to give a general idea.

As wild as this is, he playfully spanked me before we were officially dating. About a week before he'd ask me to be his girlfriend, we went to the grocery store to hang out because that's all that is open in our town after like 7pm so we'd just go walk around the store sometimes when we were friends. And this day I had attended a funeral and I was still wearing a dress but I had switched into some flip-flops so my feet would be more comfortable. And as we're walking around I decided to buy some chips, but the ones I wanted were on a higher shelf and I am short, so I stepped on one of the lower shelves to get myself high enough to reach the chips I wanted, but one of my flip-flops fell off and he grabbed it while I was still up on the shelf and used it to swat my butt. I think basically in response to seeing that he was open to that sort of play (literally meaning play, no sexual connotation) I started leaning into that sort of play fighting, play wrestling kinda rough housing stuff with him and I'd slap his ass to get him to retaliate. He'd always do this harder, so I'd fight back harder, and I think it was after we were officially dating, but it eventually advanced to him using my belt on me over my pants! But it was all very giggly and playful. In hindsight, this sort of play probably should have made it clear to both of us that we were playing with spanking as a kink but it was never overtly sexual so I had compartmentalized it as just, innocent play. Haha.

I'm REALLY guessing here, but I think we had probably been dating at least six months before I actually told him I was into spanking. He's always had an easier time being open and direct with conversations in general, but especially sexual ones, than I have been. So pretty early on he would try to ask me questions to get a better understanding of my sexual interests and what I liked, basically. I had a lot of shame and anxiety around my sexuality and my kinks and had no experience with being open about anything like that, I found myself sort of just getting awkward when he tried to get me to talk about things like that, and so he never pushed too hard. I knew that spanking was a meaningful part of my sexuality but I was so young and naive still that I thought this was like a one in a million type of kink to have. So for a while I thought it was so weird that I would just never be able to tell him or anyone as it was so 'freakish' in my mind. But as our relationship progressed and I felt safer and safer, it just felt less possible to keep it from him. So eventually I did. I don't remember exactly what I said, sorry. I know that when I spilled the beans, I said something like 'I hope you don't think I'm weird' or gross or a freak or something like that, idk exactly. But I know his response to me was essentially "What? no….that's hot!" which was SUCH a relief because I was so in love with him and it would have been devastating if he was judgemental of it. I believe he also said something to make me think that being into it wasn't nearly as weird (I guess what I really mean is rare) as I had believed it to be. At this time, I had not yet come across the idea of DD, so really all I shared was I was into spanking as that's basically all I knew.

After finding that out, he'd smack my butt while we were doing sexual things but I didn't really enjoy that much so that didn't last. A few years later I came across the idea of DD online and shared that with CD. He was curious but also had some concerns and a lot of questions. He didn't feel like I 'needed' rules and worried that giving me a rule would cause me to break that rule to get spanked which was a dynamic he didn't want to create. I didn't really have good answers to his questions, and I also was still deeply ashamed of these desires so it made it hard for me to have conversations about any of this. I'd even try to avoid saying the word 'spanking' out loud which was really confusing. In hindsight, I just clearly was not ready to engage with any of this stuff because I couldn't talk about it clearly enough to keep things safe. And I didn't realize that, but thankfully, he did. So for a while we'd occasionally talk about it but he'd raise the same questions that I didn't have good answers to and so I'd get awkward and embarrassed and end the conversation and it wouldn't be brought up again for a while. But over time we worked through some of the questions and concerns enough to feel comfortable giving it a try, except we couldn't think of any good rules at first. But then one day I lost my debit card again, which was a recurring problem for me, and it occurred to CD that it might make a good rule so he suggested it as our first rule and that's how we started.

And since then it's been a whole lot of communication and learning as we go, adapting regularly to insight we gain into ourselves and each other along the way. :)
