60 Sec Rec: Roswell New Mexico
"After a decade away from home, Liz Ortecho returns to her native Roswell to care for her ailing father. When she arrives, she reconnects with her high school crush Max Evans, who is now a police officer. Their chemistry is electric, but Liz soon learns something shocking: Max and his siblings are aliens who have kept their abilities secret their entire lives." [Rotten Tomatoes]
This is a show where too many things happen all the time and everyone is always in peril or trying to save someone else, very scifi soap-opera. It also starts with the love story between Max and Liz, but it's much more than that.
The strength of this show is in its cast/characters. It's an ensemble, they all have chemistry together and different types of relationships. There's couples, there's exes, there's unrequited loves, there's best friends, new friends, siblings... yes, some characters have more weight and screentime than others, and not everything is very well though out but ultimately, it works more often than not and the relationships develop instead of stagnate.
You see them together and you see why they're friends, or why they like each other, or why they have problems.
This is a show where a gay character says 'I'm gay', and shockingly, the bisexual character also says the word bisexual. More than once, even! There's also another not-straight character who, if I remember correctly, remains unlabeled but it makes sense for them (and they discover it in their late twenties too).
It's entertaining; it's dramatic but not unkind. It's not without issues, but it's fun. And it has a pretty good ending, with decent to good farewells for every character, even though it got cancelled. Also recommended here by @bugboybuck if you want a second opinion.
Developed by Carina Adly Mackenzie. Written by CAD (The Originals, The Flash), Eva McKenna (The Originals), Steve Stringer (Tell Me a Story), Leah Longoria (Jane The Virgin)... Directed by Lance Anderson (The Vampire Diaries), Jeffrey G. Hunt (Gotham Knights), Tim Andrew (Teen Wolf, NCIS)... Starring Jeanine Mason, Nathan Dean, Michael Vlamis, Lily Cowles, Tyler Blackburn, Heather Hemmens, Michael Trevino, Trevor St. John, Karan Oberoi, Amber Midthunder,...

@terrifyingstories said “these all-nighters are rough on you.“ / pairing: bellamy & gina
There's a faint smirk on his lips when he finds her in the room, even if the wear in his stance appears obvious. Maybe it is since gina has a way of pulling a smile out of him, making his eyes shine in a way he hasn't felt since he first got to the ground. There's a weightlessness to their interactions that is surprisingly grounding, that make him feel as though he has roots here. He helped build Arkadia, yet nothing felt stable. Still reeling from the events at mount weather and Clarke's departure ( abandonment, on his worst days ), he finds that every time he takes a step outside those walls he's preparing for a fight. The grounders hadn't honored their deal to help with mount weather because they had gotten a better offer. Why should he trust Lexa to keep the peace now? Lincoln didn't even have a place with his own people, but bellamy started considering him to be one of his, and lincoln would always have a place in Arkadia.
Gina had started staying at his room when both discovered that the other didn't like sleeping alone, but there is still lingering shock at the closeness between them. It feels more intimate curled up with her than it ever did the first few nights on the ground with any warm body beside him.
She's right, though, and maybe that should annoy him but he finds himself more and more endeared by her tenacity and ability to read him with each passing day. He always admired the effort she put into her work but never anticipated the same scrutiny in her personal relationships. What he means to say is he never expected it to get this far.
Days spent with raven and her helped fill the empty spaces, moments where he thought he'd fall apart if he didn't find something to do after weeks on the ground being constant fight to constant fight. The constant stimulation was good for him but he never tempered it with anything...until gina started to force him to. Gina had a tendency to calm whatever coursed through him that told him he needed to act, and on his best days, he started to see a life outside of constant battle, an identity outside of brother and friend. Irregardless, it gave him a sense of purpose that he craved, even if it was just sitting as Raven worked. He was taking care of Raven, and that was enough for him, and seeing Gina was an added bonus.
Her blunt nature is curtailed by her gentleness drew him in, and the smirk softens to a smile when he can see the worry in her eyes. He pulls the pendant out from his jacket as he removes it, placing it back in her hand and curling her fingers over it. After a few seconds of soaking up the warmth of her hand in his own, he pulls back just enough to sign what he hopes is I'm fine. The practice is good for him even if he feels the end goal is hopeless, and he's too concentrated on his fingers to speak it as well.
It's in the same breath that he allows his shoulders to droop because without the adrenaline pumping through his veins, he can feel the exhaustion take hold. "Someone has to." He offers as an excuse. Someone has to take these shifts and even if the guard is growing, he knows the terrain and he trusts himself to carry the burden. Keeping his hands busy is just a lucky side effect because the real gratification comes from knowing his people are safe, knowing Gina is safe. "Why are you still up?"

What are hc of the Hart family with rowan
[I wanna start off by saying it’s been a long time since I watched t@gged, so forgive any inaccuracies with her.]
+ Penelope and Rowan were adopted when they were young, maybe 5 or 6. They have vague memories of life before Trini and Kim, but those are their moms without a doubt.
+ Rowan is the more down-to-earth, thoughtful of the twins. She’s more solemn and quiet than Penelope most of the time, but she can be pretty wild in her own way. She makes really good grades, tries to stay out of trouble (it tends to find her anyway) and is often joked to be “the good twin”.
+ Rowan is pretty close to Trini. They’re a lot alike in many ways, and they talk about anything together. Rowan is a very introspective, observant person, and she’s always been good at seeing Trini’s different sides and knowing when to push or not. Not to say she doesn’t get along well with Kim. Kim brings out her more fun-loving, goofy side. They laugh together a lot. When Rowan is pushing herself too hard in school and stressing herself out, Kim will check her out of school for the day and take her on an adventure, and these are some of Rowan’s most favorite days.
+ Penelope and Rowan are twins, they had to be close at a young age when all they had was each other, and they truly love one another more than life itself. That being said, they fight--bicker-- a lot. Especially as kids. Fighting over toys, fighting over moms’ attention. Penelope sees that Rowan is more of the good child, and does more to counteract that, to be seen. Rowan knows this. Rowan tries to be sensitive to Penelope’s feelings, because she doesn’t want her sister to think she (Rowan) is more loved. Rowan sees from a young age that their moms love them for different reasons. The older they get, the closer they get. Especially in college and beyond. They definitely go to the same college. They may want to kill each other most of the time, but they can’t be apart.
+ Rowan loves the Rangers, all of them, she really does, but she has a special affection for Billy. For as long as she can remember, Billy has always talked to her like she’s an adult, and she loves it. He tries to explain his experiments and ideas to her, and even if she has no clue what he’s talking about, she’s fascinated. He gives her great books that she treasures, and he dates and signs each one, and she has them all lined up on her bookcase in her moms’ house. While Billy is her favorite, she loves the others, too. Zack is crazy and silly and babysits them all the time when they’re younger, and she loves playing with him and Penelope, because all they do is laugh. She loves Jason like that corny uncle to tries to tell jokes, but which fall flat, and she laughs anyway. She knows he’s trying. She loves Tommy, because she actually is funny, and she teaches the twins martial arts, and asks about their lives like she really wants to know. Rowan knows from a young age that she’s blessed with her Ranger family, and that only grows as she gets older.
+ There’s a running joke in the family (mostly from Penelope) that Rowan is gay, but Rowan denies it, says it’s only because she doesn’t like boys her own age. (Penelope just smirks whenever Nicki comes over.)
+ Rowan adores Josie. She’s known for a long time, maybe before Penelope and Josie, that they’d end up together. She thinks Josie grounds her sister in good ways, and she loves seeing how happy her sister is around Josie.
+ Rowan suffers from nightmares, she’s always had them, and they keep her awake a lot. She usually either climbs into bed with Penelope, or, when she was younger, with her moms. The older she gets the more she thinks she can’t do that, so she tries to deal with it on her own. This usually just means she doesn’t sleep and instead reads.
+ Rowan drinks lots of coffee. Lots of it. Even Trini can’t keep up with her.
+ She doesn’t like to admit it, but Rowan cried when she and Penelope left for college. She felt like her childhood was being barred off, like her relationship with her mothers was going to change forever, and it really got to her. Penelope held her hand and squeezed it, and didn’t say anything. She understood.
+ Rowan was 10 when she found out her moms had been Power Rangers. Tommy (of course) let something slip, and she pieced it together. They had retired by then, but the realization was still BIG for Rowan. Kim and Trini ended up sitting the girls down for “a talk” and explained it all to them, and told them they couldn’t tell anyone. Rowan got super excited and wanted to hear all about it. She was over the moon when she found out that Trini was the yellow ranger, because the yellow one had always been her favorite.
+ Trini and Kim already had a cat when they adopted the girls, but Rowan begged for a dog. Begged and begged. Penelope was happy with the cat, and the cat had taken to Penelope the most, but Rowan wanted a pet of her own. When she was 12, her moms took her on a special errand which ended up being to the local shelter where she got to pick out her very own pet. She picked a scruffy mutt named Panda, for his black and white coloring, and they took him home. He was an old dog and only lived another five years, but she loved that dog more than anything. The dog loved terrorizing the cat. Which made Penelope mad. Which led to fights...
+ Sometimes Rowan doesn’t feel like she fits in the family. She sees how Penelope is a lot like Kim, but also like Trini, and Rowan feels like she’s the odd one out. Her family and the Rangers go out of their way to assure her and show her that she’s one of them, that she’s a part of them, and that their family wouldn’t be nearly complete without them.
[more fics with Rowan are coming, I promise.]

Once Bitten Twice Shy Chapter 16
Previous Chapter
Chapter Summary - It's time for Marks wedding and Tom is Paige's date, but with the tension between them, they are finding it hard to work through things.

Paige looked at the RSVPs in front of her. Marks wedding was just a few days away. She felt incredibly awkward. Tom was to be her date for it, as would be expected since they were supposedly dating, the only issue was, he was now going to be in a lot of the family photographs and with New York just around the corner, the deal would be coming to an end.
She tried to talk it over with Mark but he dismissed it all with a mere joke.
“You said you were considering paying someone to be your escort for the evening, this way, you save money,” He had jested.
“Mark, Mum will force him to be in some the photos.”
“What does it matter? No, really. He is not ugly, even I can see that as another guy, you like his company and it’s not like there’s going to be some big ugly break up in the end, right?”
In all honesty, she could not argue his logic. “Still…”
“What is the deal, Paigey, you are all bothered about this.” Mark eyed her carefully. “Is it more than you say it is?”
“What do you mean?”
“Is there actually something more to you and your ‘Rear of the Year’ ass candy? That’s what I am asking. Have you two gone past pretending you were just a one night stand that got blown farcically out of proportion and become an actual couple?”
“No, why would we?”
“I don’t know, maybe because you literally are completely in love with him, maybe, just a hunch.” Mark watched his sister’s reaction.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Paige, you have always been the worst liar. I say that with love.” She turned to walk away from him. “What is so wrong with admitting it?”
“There’s nothing to admit.”
“So you don’t love him?”
“He’s a great guy.”
“You know that’s not what I am talking about, Paige. What are you so frightened to admit, what is so terrifying about admitting it?”
“What if he does it too?”
Mark took a step back. He thought his sister was being foolish, trying to simply act as though it was not as serious as it was, but seeing her with tears in her eyes, her words all but yelled in sincerity, that startled him. “Paige…”
“I know he’s not Derek, I know it. I say it to myself over and over but my brain just goes back to that night, to that feeling of everything crashing to the ground again and I never want to feel that way again. I never want to allow myself feel that way again. I don’t. He sees beautiful women every day, throwing themselves at him at his play and everything. I can’t compete with that. It would be only a matter of time before someone better would come, then I would have wasted more time and be burnt again and for what?”
“You don’t know that.”
“I don’t want to know that. I rather not find out.”
“Then you risk never being happy.”
“I am happy.”
“Are you, Paige? Can you look me in the eye and tell me your dreams of a family have changed, that you feel like it doesn’t matter now?”
“Things change, Mark.”
“Not those things, not that much.” He shook his head. “He’s a great guy and he makes you happier than I have ever seen you. Stop pretending otherwise and enjoy his company. You clearly like him and he likes you so I really can’t see why you would beat around this when both of you have the potential to be happy together.”
“He doesn’t...”
“Yes, he does.” Mark insisted. “Look, I asked him already and he said he was coming, so if you want to cancel his invite, you can be the one to tell him, because I’m not going to, okay?” He got to his feet and looked sadly at his sister. “Paige, we don’t all get second chances, Dad was lucky. You are not going to find too many men that well suited to you, it’s not mathematically possible for them to all be in your age range, in this part of the world, and available so don’t waste this opportunity to make yourself happy. Learn from Dad’s lesson. I am not risking Fiona, she is the best thing in my life. You do the same. He is your Fiona and if you are too dumb to realise that, then someone else will come along and snap him up because as far as men go, he’s a great catch and where will that leave you?” He left the room, hoping to have gotten her to realise how well suited she and Tom were.
*
Tom checked his suit was tidied and not at risk of creasing on the hanger.
He didn’t know why Mark was so adamant he go to the wedding. Paige had barely mentioned it, but he could hardly decline with Mark asking him to be there. What was peculiar was Mark knew the truth, he knew it was all a charade yet he insisted on Tom going to not only the wedding but the family get-togethers before it. Paige had mentioned that she was none too pleased about it all, when he tried to speak to her about it, she simply stated that it was boring. He understood such sentiment, he felt that way during his sisters' weddings. When he stated such, she agreed and spoke to him about it more but said nothing of him joining her for it. Mark had mentioned it in front of their mother, which he suspected that even if he had declined Mark, he would never have been permitted to decline their mother.
This led to a more embarrassing situation. Paige’s family, under the impression their daughter was in a long-term committed relationship, booked them a room with only a double bed in it in the hotel for the wedding. When they entered, he and Paige looked at the bed for a moment before looking at one another.
“If you hog the covers, I’m going to kidney punch you,” Paige warned. “It won’t even be intentional. I apparently do it in my sleep.”
“Are you okay with sharing with me?” Tom checked.
“Yes, you?”
“Yes.”
In truth, Tom was uncertain. Since the night at the awards, since the kiss, he felt somewhat uncertain of things. That moment where she was about to tell him something, he was certain it was something pertaining to them, since then, he felt uncertain, as though they were teetering on the edge of something more. He thought that perhaps she was feeling something similar to him but since that moment, since Oscar interrupted them, she never referenced the situation again, so he had no idea.
“I promise I am not too bad.”
“I know. We did share a bed before, remember?”
Paige swallowed. “Yes, of course.” She did not want to look at him as she remembered the night that started all of this, waking beside him, curled against him, feeling his body against hers after a night of incredible sex. She had thought of that night a few times since. “It’s looking good for your kidneys so.”
Tom laughed at her comment. “That’s a relief.”
“I guess we better go to this dinner.” She shook her head. “I’m sorry my parents and brother dragged you into this.”
“Honestly, I don’t mind, you came to aunt Geraldines for me.”
“It’s not fair on you though.”
“Paige, do you know what is great about you?”
“My sheer lack of giving a shit?”
“Yes, actually.” Tom nodded. “You are entirely honest. Take meeting my father for lunch, you straight up said yes to meeting him on his visit down for the play, but then declined him for dinner because you were busy, so you planned lunch. There was no messing, no pretending you could then suddenly changing plans, you straight away said what you could and could not do.”
“It’s better to lay everything out like that, and it’s handy. When you say you’re busy then, no one seems to think to question you.”
“It’s a good way to be.” Tom commended.
“Perhaps.” Paige sometimes wondered if it was. “We better get ready to go to this meal.”
Tom could see her apprehension. “Is it me of the meal that’s the issue?”
Paige scoffed. “Tom, you will never be the issue. If I could choose this meal or you, you win. You’re far better company, you are a far nicer person than most everyone I have ever met, honestly. It’s not you.” Tom looked at her carefully. Paige’s eyes on his. “Tom…”
He was on the verge of leaning down and kissing her. He even licked his lips to do so when there was a knock on the door.
“Paige, are you two decent in there?”
Paige looked at Tom for a moment, unsure if she just imagined what just nearly happened before walking over to the door. “Yes, Dad?”
“Dinner time, get cleaned up as best you can. We wouldn’t want to be late.” He rolled his eyes.
Paige smiled at him. “We’ll get through it.”
“I love Fiona, you know I do, but that family of hers…I didn’t fight that damn disease to suffer fools.”
Paige smiled lovingly at her father, the memory of the sick man sitting in their living room when she got a lift to Oxford with a classmate one weekend coming to her again. “Dad…”
“Now, run along.” He walked off.
“He’s terrible.” She shook her head. “Mum gets so annoyed when he talks about the cancer like that. He maintains that since he survived it, he can speak anyway he wants about it.”
“Understandable. So Fiona’s family are not as liked as she is then?”
“Fiona’s family have this terrible medical condition, it’s sad really, it’s called pompous twat-itis.” Tom chuckled. “How Fiona is related to them confuses me no end.”
“Now I’m just curious,” Tom confessed. “Am I dressed alright?” He dressed casually in a dark sweater, his dark jeans and favourite pair of shoes.
Paige nodded. She always tried to remain stoic when she saw him in such a combination, but it was difficult because of how incredible he looked. She never knew how a man wearing something so casual look so sexy. “You look great.” She went into the bathroom and tidied herself a little before walking out again. “Ready?”
Tom, who had been in his own head after thinking of how he nearly kissed her, looked at her again with interest. She wore black boots with her black jeans, which very much showed her body, which he had enjoyed previously and could not stop thinking about since. The blouse she chose was elegant and sexy in one and he loved it. It was the same one she wore the night of Ben and Sophie’s. “Yes.”
“Good. I better apologise in advance for anything they say or do. I cannot guarantee they will be very nice or perhaps they will be overly nice, I don’t know which yet.”
“Thanks for the warning.”
“Can’t say I didn’t tell you.” She smiled as they left the room.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but please, for once, let’s not make a generalization out of the shows on The CW. Not the way I’ve been seeing some people do, at least.
With all due respect, Penelope is not Lexa. Legacies is not The 100. Julie Plec isn’t Jason Rothenberg.
We’ve all been burned and got the emotional scars to show for it, I know. But comparing apples and oranges isn’t going to do us any good, and you just can’t compare Lexa, her situation, and what she represents, to Penelope.
Not to state the obvious, but Lexa died. She died. Not just that, but her death made absolutely no contribution to the long-run narrative of The 100, and little to none in that particular season’s storyline. Lexa’s whole legacy was destroyed, and she only lives through occasional references made by Clarke, or dreams had by Maddi. Lexa died for nothing but shock value, as well as perpetuating a heteronormative storyline in the long run (don’t @ me) and that is the fact. Jason Rothenberg did wrong by her. The 100 did wrong by her. The CW did wrong by her.
Jason, the show, and The CW didn’t stop at doing wrong by Lexa, no; they also did wrong by the viewers. Jason deliberately invited fans to the shooting site for the finale, in Vancouver, in order to instill in them (and everyone who eventually had access to the photos and videos being shared that day) a fake notion of security, an illusion of safety because, if Lexa was in the finale, then she couldn’t be dead, right? For months, he lied through his teeth and assured everyone that everything was okay, even after the fact, and that is just abhorrent. Even after the season was done, he refused any form of criticism and tried everything in his power to shut down all protests. And The CW stood by him.
Penelope left the show. She didn’t die, she left. And whether we like it or not, she left in a way that made sense and was fitting to her storyline. Unlike Lexa’s death, Penelope’s departure wasn’t meaningless. In this past episode alone, Penelope was the one to single handedly set things into motion for the finale by exposing both the merge and the truth about Landon’s mother. These were two key narratives that were halting the progress of the show by being kept a secret, and now they’re out in the open, thanks to her. Not just that, but Penelope’s departure itself will have major implications to Josie as a character, and Josie’s actions from here on out will be heavily influenced by it. As per Kaylee’s words, Josie’s lost something she thought she’d always have, and that’ll play a huge role in her spiraling and ultimately going “dark”. Factor in the location to which Penelope is headed, and you can clearly tell there is a strong possibility her narrative will continue to be explored by the writers in a second season.
Like it or not, Penelope leaving was absolutely necessary for the character, her relationship with Josie, and Josie’s future storyline. Penelope being gone isn’t a disservice to the show and it wasn’t in vain. We all know how much she loves to watch the world burn – well, her leaving was the beginning of the fire.
And I know, we all want Penelope to come back as a main or regular, me included. But we must also understand that isn’t always possible, for a multitude of reasons. We have to remember Lulu is still doing T@gged, which might prevent the show from making her a regular due to contractual reasons. Even factoring in Penelope’s storyline, if the writers always intended on Penelope leaving for an extended period of time, it makes sense that they wouldn’t have her as a regular just yet.
I can’t make any guarantees as to her coming back in season two. As of now, all I have on that end are wild guesses, wishful thinking, and a lot of hope. But the fact is, the writers have created a well-rounded, interesting character who is well-liked by their fan base, and I believe it’s in their best interest to keep her in the show. The show wins absolutely nothing by permanently getting rid of Penelope, because they know what that entails. No executive producer in their right mind wants to purposefully alienate their viewers, even a portion of them, and they know that’s what will happen if they do nothing to keep Penelope in the show, in one way or the other.
Now, Julie is no Jason, but she’s not without flaws. Focusing specifically on the ones that matter to this conversation, I’m well aware she’s mistreated and killed off multiple queer characters without batting an eye. But I am also aware she’s also had two female characters marry on screen, and neither of the two died after that. And again, Penelope isn’t any of these characters. Not Nora, not Mary Louise, not Josh, not Aiden, not even Freya or Keelin.
And Legacies is not The 100, by any means. The same way it isn’t The Vampire Diaries or The Originals. This show has a completely different vibe to it than that of its predecessors, different characters, different themes... And we can’t, or rather, shouldn’t expect or anticipate from it the same thing we expected from those other shows.
All of this is not to say The CW is now exempt from all blame. That everything is excused, we’re all buddy-buddies, and can blindly trust everything this network does. We have to be cautious and critical of the media we consume, always, especially when it’s given us a reason to do so in the past. But living solely in the past, and living in storylines and situations that in no way resemble the ones we’re currently going through, is a disservice to everyone who works hard every single day to bring us these stories. It’s a disservice to Lexa’s legacy. And it’s a disservice to us, all of us fans, who watch these shows.
Living in fear of history repeating itself only prevents us from enjoying the here and now. We’re so scared of what might happen that we stress before there’s even anything to stress about. We taint what’s happening out of fear of what may or may not be. Don’t we owe ourselves better than that?

t@gged Season 2 ★★☆☆☆, 40% No no no. Its even more iritating than the 1st season. It got no way to go. Feels like random plots thrown inside it, and put it where it fits. True the first episode of the season hooked everyone. But its not enough. Almost no development, boring, VERY SLOW PACED, and ohmygod I almost fell asleep. Sure it gets more thrilling at some episodes, and other characters get pretty nice screen time. Emma Dumont is a nice touch to the series. But her character...idk what she's doin yall. Wandering around the series? Are you serious? Like I said, no developments (no big ones, at least nothing deep and meaningful), painfully SLOOOOOOWWWWWWWW. The story move the character instead of the other way around. Three main protagonist are just getting more and more annoying. Hailey, duh, wake up girl! But I do love Rowan taking more actions, she's what holding this thing together. The cliffhanger at the seaaon finale is stupid in my opinion. I didnt feel hooked, I'm pissed. They shouldnt do that. It would be so much greater if they move that last scene to episode 11. Or even mid-season finale. Because all through the season is just a cat and mouse game. Chasing and running with no way out. Seriously, its making me tired. Then the ending goes like crap. Uh very bad season 2. I hope they do better at S3. Because I just dont get season 2. I'm wasting my time. #changreviews #tvseries #taggedtvseries #tvshow #taggedseason2 #taggedreview #changreviewstagged
