just purchased volume 4 of the Jeeves manga and my god. if i took a shot for every time Jeeves winked at or about Bertie Wooster. it's like at least once per chapter if not more. and it's almost always with such ridiculously fond looks. i'm beginning to think Katsuta-san and i are on the same page about the nature of their relationship. once the other four volumes come in the mail i'm uploading a winking compilation for the people
also the character designs are a delight...
...except for the black elevator attendant in Chump Cyril. Jesus Christ. That was not a delight. Bestie that was a jumpscare. Begging manga artists to draw black people like normal humans instead of minstrel show caricatures. Good Lord.

Brief interview with the JPN voice cast of SMT IVA
Some fun VA talk alongside localization tidbits.
Tumblr media
Taken from the official website. Translated by furinana
Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse – TOPICS
Special Project for Voice Actors
Hiro Shimono, who plays the main character, talks about his thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as the main character this time I personally love the Shin Megami Tensei series... and of course I also played IV (laugh)! So, I'm overwhelmed with emotion for being able to play a main character of Megaten!
[2] The main character's lines that left an impression on me The main character generally doesn't speak, but this time we recorded some lines (I can't go into details yet...). The one line that stuck with me was, "I want to be neutral"*. Megaten fans definitely feel an indescribable charm in the word "neutral".
*[TN: Originally "僕は、ニュートラルでありたいんです" In the interview, neutral is spelled as ニュートラル however in-game it's written as 中庸 chuuyou (lit. middle path) but still pronounced as "neutral". I added the ENG localization for comparison]
Tumblr media
[3] A message to everyone waiting for the release I don't know how things will turn out, but I hope you enjoy the world of Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse. As a fan myself, I'll be waiting with my 3DS fully charged!
[Note: Hiro Shimono is well-known for making roles of young boys (usually the bratty types), is a recurring duo with Flynn's VA Yuki Kaji and even at his age is considered to be "cute enough to be a girl" thus often crossdresses for the audience. On top of that, Shimono loves fried chicken. Nanashi eats fried chicken made of demons...]
Tumblr media
A message from Shuichi Ikeda, who plays Dagda, regarding this work.
[Q] A message to everyone waiting for the release I eagerly antecipate the day when I can meet you all as Dagda. Please look forward to “Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse”.
Tumblr media
Tomoko Seike, who plays Asahi, shares her thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Asahi this time She is a simple and straightforward girl who doesn't lie. The more I acted, the more I fell in love with her. Meeting Asahi has allowed me to learn and grow a lot, and I would like to sincerely say "thank you" to my family and friends that I cherish so much.
[2] Asahi’s lines that left an impression on me "Muu." It 100% expressed Asahi's cuteness but it's a word I don't normally use, so it was very difficult.* *[TN: in the JPN version of the game, whenever Asahi feels displeased with something she goes muu. A close ENG equivalent would be a cutesy "grr"]
[3] Message to everyone waiting for the release Each and every character in the series is an indispensable presence, and the feelings of all of them come together to create a work that shows off a beautiful landscape filled with love and hope. This is my first time trying out voice acting, so it's a work that I became very attached to. I hope everyone enjoys it.
[Note: Tomoko Seike was originally a stageplay actress with Asahi being her very first role as a VA (however she's been inactive since then). She considered her favorite color sky blue and her biggest wish was to provide healing and power through her performances]
Tumblr media
Shintaro Ohata, who plays Navarre, talks about his thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Navarre this time
I never thought the day would come when I'd get to perform as Navarre again! Specially after what happened to him (laugh). I had a lot of fun playing him as a green-something this time. My first role as a green thingie.
[2] Navarre’s lines that left an impression on me
I said "gununu…" a lot* (laugh). *[TN note: Navarre's personal onomatopeia for when he's in a pickle. It's like a "nghh"]
[3] A message to everyone waiting for the release
This work felt both new and similar to the "Megami Tensei" that I played when I was a child. I hope you all enjoy it! Please join us in welcoming this green guy.
Tumblr media
Kenjiro Tsuda, who plays the role of Krishna, talks about his thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Krishna this time
It was a lot of fun to play such an impactful character!
[2] Krishna’s lines that left an impression on me
His difficult lines were remarkable (laugh).
[3] A message to everyone waiting for the release
We hope you enjoy it to your heart's content! Thank you!
Tumblr media
Yuki Kaji, who plays Flynn, talks about his thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Flynn this time
Last time, since I was the main character, I hardly had any lines… But after the release, I actually played the game myself and now I've grown quite attached to the character, so I was happy that I was able to speak a lot this time.
[2] Flynn's lines that left an impression on me
How do I say it... I was mesmerized by the fact that I had the privilege of playing many different types of Flynn. I can't go into details because I don't want to spoil the story, but I especially enjoyed playing "Flynn who is Flynn but isn't Flynn" (laugh). I hope you'll all listen and find out for yourself!
[3] A message to everyone waiting for the release
Shin Megami Tensei IV is back in a new form! I think it will be enjoyable not only for those who have played the previous game, but also for those who are starting a new game…but! There's still time! Please do your homework and review the game thoroughly until the release date! Thank you!
Tumblr media
Hiroshi Kamiya, who plays Jonathan, talks about his thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Jonathan this time
I was very happy to meet Jonathan again after a long time!
[2] Jonathan(Merkabah)'s lines that left an impression on me
All of Merkabah's lines are devilishly inflexible and extreme, and however correct they may be, they are difficult to empathize with, so it was challenging to make them sound good!
[3] A message to everyone waiting for the release
A world beyond Shin Megami Tensei IV is waiting! Those who played the previous game will have a deeper experience, and those starting with this one will enjoy it as something completely new! Please give it a try!
Tumblr media
Katsuyuki Konishi, who plays Walter, talks about his thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Walter this time
I'm happy to be playing Walter again. I never thought I'd get to see a continuation of their world, so it was fun.
[2] Walter’s lines that left an impression on me
I'm in a different position than before, so I hope you'll take a look at that as well.
[3] A message to everyone waiting for the release
This is the follow-up to Shin Megami Tensei! That world will be returning once again. Have fun with your favorite party.
Tumblr media
Miyuki Sawashiro, who plays the role of Isabeau, talks about her thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Isabeau this time
This was the first recording in two years, so it felt nostalgic, but it was also refreshing to portray Isabeau as a more grown-up and unhesitanting character.
[2] Isabeau’s lines that left an impression on me
Her reaction when she is overwhelmed by Asahi, her junior (?). It was unlike anything we've seen before coming from her.
[3] A message to everyone waiting for the release
This will be our FINAL* (as planned)! Please stay with us until the end!
(TN: reference to how the title is known in Japan, Shin Megami Tensei IV FINAL)
Tumblr media
Michiko Kaiden, who plays Maitreya (Miroku in JPN), talks about her thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Maitreya this time
Despite being a human, I had the opportunity to play a Bodhisattva. Although Maitreya is a Bodhisattva, he* is a frightening character who you wouldn't want to meet or fight. Although I struggled with the lines that were full of Buddhist terminology, it was a rewarding and interesting role to play.
*[TN note: Maitreya's gender is sort of ambiguous considering 1. Aside the female VA, Maitreya uses gender neutral speech 2. Doi intentionally designed Maitreya with a feminine, motherly even androgynous image 3. Maitreya's design resembles famous TV personality Matsuko Deluxe (a female persona of a crossdressing gay man) which is sort of a meme between Japanese fans]
[2] Maitreya's lines that left an impression on me
Maitreya's are more like "sermons" than lines, and every one of them is filled with teachings… It's difficult to narrow it down to just one. I hope you'll also enjoy his unique way of speaking.
[3] A message to everyone waiting for the release
The long-awaited sequel! The unexpected developments and depictions had me constantly reading the script, and my heart just kept pounding. I hope you all will experience this excitement too!
Tumblr media
Atsushi Miyauchi, who plays Odin, talks about his thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Odin this time Odin has a variety of emotions and ulterior motives existing alongside each other, so it was a very rewarding role to play. Although he was a demon, I felt a melancholic human quality to him, and I loved how indescribably heartbreaking it was. [2] Odin's lines that left an impression on me “…Only one can be the real deal, and the winner is always by their own.”*
I love this line, which is filled with Odin's nobility and pride.
*[TN: Originally "...本物は一人で良い 勝者は常に独りだ"]
Tumblr media
[3] A message to everyone waiting for the release This was my first time participating in the series, and I was fascinated by the worldview it offers. It's a very interesting game! I hope you all enjoy it!!
Tumblr media
Junpei Morita, who plays Fujiwara, talks about his thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Fujiwara this time He has a hidden passion inside him, and interacts with people with a carefree demeanor. I played the role hoping to express that kind of charm. I perceived him as a likeable character with a relaxed attitude. [2] Fujiwara’s lines that left an impression on me
"We'll definitely… stand under the sun together while looking at this blue sky again."* A line that speaks about hope of reaching the surface.
*[TN: Originally "必ず…また一緒に太陽の下で、あの青い空を見上げよう"]
Tumblr media
[3] A message to everyone waiting for the release
Humans want to be human. And what exactly is to be human? Try to find out through Fujiwara and this game.
Tumblr media
Mie Sonozaki, who plays Nozomi, talks about her thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Nozomi this time When I voiced Nozomi previously, her visual image wasn't completed by then. So I was free to voice her however I wanted, and even though she only appeared in challenge quests in the previous game, she's now been promoted to a main character! I'm really happy that Nozomi is loved by the players. Thank you. [2] Nozomi’s lines that left an impression on me "It's okay for humans to get lost."* Nozomi is the type of person who casually says important things, but I may have become a little too emotional when recording the lines...
*[TN: Originally "人間は、迷ってもいいんだよ".]
Tumblr media
[3] A message to everyone waiting for the release “Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse” is even darker than the previous work! Take good care of Nozomi who will be joining your party.
This time, there's more than just a standing sprite! Please play the previous game again before the release and look forward to the new one!
Tumblr media
Miki Ito, who plays the role of Danu, talks about her thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Danu this time
The one known as Mother Goddess was a difficult role. I tried to portray the character with a sense of tolerance, but also wanted to incorporate a cold dignified atmosphere. [2] Danu’s lines that left an impression on me "Wield ●●●●●. Pierce the very heart of ●●●●"* (Note) Important story information has been omitted.
*[TN: The full sentence is "Wield Ame-no-habakiri. Pierce the very heart of the Cosmic Egg"] [3] A message to everyone waiting for the release Hello everyone. I'm Miki Ito, who plays the role of Danu. It's a game with a mysterious and interesting worldview. Please enjoy it thoroughly! See you again somewhere ♡
Tumblr media
Rei Matsuzaki, who plays Napaea, talks about her thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Napaea this time She was very cute and since they told me I could act however I wanted, I performed without any restraints ♪ [2] Napaea’s lines that left an impression on me There isn't a particular line that stuck with me, but I remember Napaea having a unique accent because she has a peculiar way of ending her phrases*. And that's what makes her so cute!!
*[TN: The tic is the のよさ noyosa part. It's an intensifier similar to Naruto's dattebayo. An ENG equivalent would be the character constantly going "(something), you know!"] [3] A message to everyone waiting for the release
I'm so happy to be part of this series again! I've played many other characters besides this girl, so please enjoy the game and try to find them!
Tumblr media
Toshiki Masuda, who plays the role of Hallelujah, talks about his thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Hallelujah this time A man among men! This character truly depicts the kind of lifestyle that any man would aspire to. It was a great experience that made me think, "I want to grow into a person like that!" Thank you! [2] What lines from Hallelujah left an impression on me
None! Or rather, I want to say there are so many that I can't decide on just one!
Through the second half of the game, Hallelujah’s lines become more determined, resolved, and responsible! I want you to listen to those! [3] A message to everyone waiting for the release
I was both happy and nervous when I heard that I would be appearing in the latest installment of the long-running Shin Megami Tensei series. I look forward to the release together with everyone!
Tumblr media
Takeshi Maeda (miscredited as Tsuyoshi Maeda), who plays Gaston, talks about his thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Gaston this time
It was a lot of fun. As the younger brother of the eccentric and short-tempered Navarre, I was hoping to be able to subtly sense the unique atmosphere that Mr. Ohata portrayed while playing the role in my own way. Gaston was a character that underwent some pretty drastic character development, so that was interesting as well. [2] Gaston’s lines that left an impression on me "You really never learn, it’s SIR Gaston! Respect your elders!"* Sorry for the weird scene. *[TN: Originally "君は全く学習しないな。ガストンさんだ。年上を敬いたまえ!"]
Tumblr media
[3] A message to everyone waiting for the release I'm Maeda and I played the role of Gaston.
The Megami Tensei series, which I've been playing since I was a child, is getting more and more interesting. Many people with different points of view engage in a fierce battle this time as well.
Please come and watch the struggles of the main character's team and Gaston, who are all at the mercy of the situation.
Thank you for your support.
Tumblr media
Misaki Kuno, who plays Toki, talks about her thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Toki this time Toki, who was raised as an assassin by the Ring of Gaea, was difficult to play because she was a child who rarely showed emotions. However, the scene where she gets tempted by many different colors of the Aether was really fun!! [2] Toki’s lines that left an impression on me I put great care in the lines when Toki, who was only thinking about completing her mission until then, gradually started opening up to the protagonist. [3] A message to everyone waiting for the release I did my best efforts on playing Toki, so I hope you'll look forward to her. Thank you very much!!
Tumblr media
Chafurin, who plays Mido, talks about his thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Mido this time Well, I'm a Synthesis Pot*, so to speak. Wahahaha...
*[TN: 合成の壺 seems to be a reference to the most valuable pot you can find in the Shiren the Wanderer series. You insert pieces of equipment inside it and the end result is the strength of the materials combined.] [2] Mido’s lines that left an impression on me
"Welcome to the Cathedral of Shadows, where demons gather…"*
*[TN: Originally "悪魔が集いし邪教の館へようこそ…" Cathedral of Shadows in Japanese is 邪教の館 which can be something like Mansion of Heretical Religions] [3] A message to everyone
I'm also looking forward to the release. What is this feeling? I'm so excited! ♪ (Note) This comment was received in the summer of 2015.
Tumblr media
Junichi Suwabe, who plays the role of Abe, talks about his thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Abe this time I couldn't help but be like, "They had that kind of relationship!?" [2] Abe’s lines that left an impression on me It would be a spoiler, so it's a secret. If I had to say, it would be "everything." [3] A message to everyone We hope you'll give it a try. Thank you!
Tumblr media
Yuko Kaida, who plays Burroughs, talks about her thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Burroughs this time I'm happy to meet you all once more as Burroughs. [2] Burroughs’ lines that left an impression on me "It's no good. I'm getting an error"* This time, Burroughs's only appearance looks somewhat human. Actually, alongside this one I played another role where I was able to give my all, so I had a lot of fun. *[TN: Originally "ダメ、エラーが出ちゃう"] [3] A message to everyone We have an astonishingly gorgeous cast of voice actors this time too! I was so surprised. We hope you enjoy this voiced Megaten the fullest once again!
Tumblr media
Cho, who plays Dr. Matsuda/Stephen, talks about his thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Dr. Matsuda/Stephen this time Hey folks! Dr. Matsuda and Stephen were completely different characters, so I had a lot of fun. I wanted to expand the role of Dr. Matsuda more. Next time I'm asked to perform as Dr. Matsuda, would it be okay if I change the dialogue to suit my own taste? [2] Lines that left an impression on me Matsuda is like, “Hey folks” Stephen is like, “Hello there”*
Tumblr media
[3] A message to everyone Hello there, my name is Stephen. Thanks to you guys, we can meet again. I am looking forward to it…. For pete's sake!
*[TN: Originally "どもっす" for Matsuda and "やあ" for Stephen. Matsuda speaks with the polite auxiliary verb -ssu used in colloquial speech, which shows slight respect for the listener but doesn't convey an intellectual image. There's no way to closely convert those to English so I just used what the localization came up with]
Tumblr media
Atsuko Tanaka, who plays Gabby/Gabriel, talks about her thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as Gabby/Gabriel this time It's an honor to play Gabby/Gabriel again! [2] Lines that left an impression on me "Our Lord, the most merciful and gracious, has deigned to give you a chance"* *[TN: Originally "寛大にして慈悲深き我らが主は 貴方たちに機会をお与え下さいました"]
[3] A message to everyone I played Gabby/Gabriel in this title as well. I cannot wait, but please wait. (Note) This comment was received in the summer of 2015.
Tumblr media
Mugihito, who played the role of ●●●●, talks about his thoughts on this work
[1] Acting out as ●●●● this time It's best not to say too much about the character I play. I'm looking forward to meeting you all in the game. [2] A message to everyone Sure enough, when I got requested for the role, I became worried that a human being would get punished for playing it (laugh).
That's why I put a lot of effort into my performance, so please come and check it out with your own eyes and ears.

14, 15 & 17 for the ask meme?? :3
14. Do you own any official merch? If not, what is one piece of existing merch that you wish you own? Is there anything that you wish it existed already?
Yeah!! I think my first pieces of merch were those Skid and Pump plushies, though they were the smaller/older ones. I also got a Bob plushie, the Tender Treats poster, some stickers and one of the shirts (it's the one with Bob, Streber, Skid and Pump!! I love the design sm!!)
I also ordered some of the merch from when Hollow Sorrows released! Still waiting for it to arrive but if I remember correctly I got the Moloch plushie (ofc), two shirts and the pins and stickers!!
And of the merch I don't have I'd honestly love to get my hands on this shirt with The Eyes on it (and the keychains,, they're so cute :3) plus the cassette and/or CD
15. From fanart or fanfiction, did someone's work made you think more positively of a character/ship? Free free to shout them out, whether if it's one person or multiple people!
YES!!! This applies to a few characters/ships actually so I worry I can't remember everyone but I'll try my best to list em here :3
Loki/Dexter (they aren't on Tumblr) made me really appreciate Dexter Erotoph!! I absolutely adore the way they analyse and talk about him and it made me start to think about not only Dexter on a deeper level but other characters too. Not to mention they also got me into Ratcandy and Sunnycide (the way they write them makes me giggle and kick my feet :3)
@shvggot made me care more about Ignacio!! I was never a fan of him or even cared about him for that matter but thanks to Shaggy I started thinkin about Ignacio more and even started drawing him and coming up with headcanons!!
@itsnotmourn Made me absolutely adore Carmen and Richard,, There's a lot but I'll keep it simple and say that I was never a fan of Carmen or Richard and even disliked them at some point, but the way Mourn depicts them and their relationship warms my heart,, Heck the way they draw the family in general makes me super happy (so ig Roy is included too??) Also I LOVE how they draw Jaune and Aaron!!!!
@yalibat OHHH he made me appreciate Rick more cuz he draws Rick soooo good,, The Rick artist ever,, ALSO JUST IN GENERAL THE WAY HE DRAWS THE SM CHARACTERS IS SOOOOO GOOD!!!!!!! I also feel like for some reason Kevin, Radford and The Hatzgang counts even if he doesn't draw them as much?? (Y'know he just drew them in such a way that changed my brain chemistry about em /pos)
@eatyourmaker THERE'S SO MUCH!! But mainly they really got me to appreciate Fieryfaith and even Ignacio and Father Gregor as separate characters!! And ofc Jadedego!! I was never much into it til they started drawing them!!
@jacenotjason MAYOR EVERMORE!! Do I have to say more? Like,, y'all got me carin about the character I used to hate?? Also does it count if it's an AU of a character?? Cuz I LOVE zir Opposite Gregor!! I'm counting it cuz it's technically Father Gregor pff
@wosieposiecozy I can't say a specific character but their art just manages to make every character great,, Just check it out and see for yourself PLEASE
THERE'S DEFINITELY MORE BUT I SUCK AT COMING UP WITH EVERYTHIN ON THE SPOT!! But if I'm followin you and you're a Spooky Month fanartist then there's a good chance you're the reason I started to appreciate a character/ship more :D So don't feel bummed if I didn't include you
I already answered 17 here!!

Assorted Lore Part 11 ~ General Headcanons for the Black Swan Quintet
Tumblr media
Hello everyone!
Starting tonight, I'm embarking on a 2-week adventure where I'm going to get to see several of my favorite groups live! While getting ready, I've been thinking more about my Black Swans so for today's edition of Assorted Lore, I'll be sharing some more headcanons I have for NRC's Idol Club!
~~~
🖤 The main concept for the BSQ is transcendence through the freedom/freedom of self-expression. One of the main reasons the group has been so successful so far, and even still exists post-book 5, is because of Danica's choice to go against Vil's wishes for her for the VDC. Together as a group, songs tend to have empowering lyrics about being independent, being strong in the face of adversity, and taking charge of one's destiny regardless of consequences from the world. And through that, finding freedom. It's a concept that's very important to them since personally, each of them is trying to find freedom in their own way.
🖤 But for solo songs and special events, the members like to experiment with a lot of different styles and themes and don't really stick to one. When the BSQ released their first comeback for Ione's birthday, many were taken aback/put off by the super cute fairy visuals. But the group defended the decision to go in that direction because it was what Ione wanted and none of them ever had an issue with cuter concepts. They just wanted the decision to choose for themselves.
🖤 Officially, Danica is the leader of the BSQ but a lot of the group management falls to Yuulan so Danica is still able to focus on her studies and activities with the Pop Music Club. Yuulan arranges performances, runs the group's social media with help from Taima, and the group still rehearses at Ramshackle. Lowkey, Yuulan is far more of a manager to them now than she ever was in book 5 and the group sees to it that she’s paid for her trouble as well.
🖤 Speaking of performances, since the members all have busy schedules with classes and other club activities, the group sticks mostly sticks to prerecorded special stages and only does live shows on special occasions like member birthdays, contests like the VDC, or right before they're going to recruit new members.
🖤 The Black Swan Quintet has something of a "rivalry" with the RSA Divas (which is now under new leadership post book 5) but this is mostly in instigation between their fandoms. Secretly, the members of each group are on good terms with each other and sometimes even exchange ideas. Iman and Vidaria may or may not have been caught on video hanging out at a local cafe with Isabel and Minette...👀
Member-specific headcanons under the cut!
Tumblr media
🦢 The leader of the group and one of the main vocalists. If I had to describe Danica as an idol, I'd say she has the beauty and aesthetics of IVE's Wonyoung and the dance talent of Kazuha from LE SSERAFIM.
🦢 In addition to being the group's leader, she also helps with creating the concepts for songs and designs costumes. Her family also foots the bill on many of the group's expenses. Much to Crowley's delight since he certainly wants to encourage the girls' success to bring notice to the school but is also a cheap-ass bitch.
🦢 Because of her relationship with Vil and the fact that she also models for her family's company, Danica often doesn't join the group when they do livestreams. The one time she did, the chat was bombarded with questions regarding her relationship with Vil and a lot of jealous hate that Iman and Taima defended her from. Thankfully, for every hater Danica has, she has several fans as well as the support of her group.
Tumblr media
💐 Danica's right-hand girl and lowkey the most popular member of the BSQ after Iman. If I had to describe Taima as an idol, she's definitely Jennie from BLACKPINK with the dance talent of Momo from Twice.
💐 Most of the group's songs don't include rap but when they do, it's always attributed to Taima. In addition to writing all of her raps, she also writes most of the group's songs that aren't solo songs.
💐 The main source of Taima's popularity is her tomboy visuals and her more tough girl persona compared to the other members. She has a very specific appeal that earns her A LOT of female fans. Fans also tend to "ship" Taima and Danica together because of how fiercely Taima will go to bat defending her bestie from haters.
Tumblr media
🌷 Ione is another one of the main vocalists in the group. I'm not sure why, but as an idol, Ione reminds me most of Dahyun from Twice.
🌷She loves being a part of the BSQ and her confidence has skyrocketed since her birthday live. She's still not the strongest dancer (something she sometimes gets hate for) but she's a fast learner and her vocals have always been second only to Danica. Idia, Riddle, and Crisanta are her largest supporters and Idia may or may not have doxxed a few of her more vocal haters...
🌷 Sadly, her father does not approve of her idol activities and has tried multiple times to have her removed from the group. As of now, he has thankfully been unsuccessful as Crowley considers the BSQ's popularity a valuable asset for the school and since Ione's academics haven't suffered, he sees no reason why Ione should be made to leave. Hopefully, her father won't ever try to bribe him with money.
Tumblr media
👑Next to Taima, Iman is definitely the most popular member of BSQ. She has a very fun and glamorous style and her visuals are always on point. As an idol, I'd say she is most like LISA from BLACKPINK with the visuals of Karina from Aespa.
👑 As the three best dancers, during lives, she, Danica, and Taima will have special segments where they dance to remixes of their music. Showing off more complex choreography that the other members might not be able to do.
👑 Iman has developed an oddly wholesome dynamic with Ione despite being one of her hugest critics at one time. They're sort of like Rei and Usagi from Sailor Moon where Iman likes to playfully tease Ione on livestreams but Ione takes it all in stride since she knows Iman does it out of a place of love. Unfortunately, Iman once took it too far where she bluntly joked about Ione not being able to "dance for shit" and accusations of bullying rose that Ione and the other members were quick to deny.
Tumblr media
🧚🏻 Vidaria is probably the most mysterious member of the group. Not just because of her unique style compared to the others, but also because she also rarely participates in livestreams for diplomatic reasons. As an idol, I feel like Vidaria is like a mix of Liz from IVE, Rosè from BLACKPINK, Winter from Aespa and Kanon Wakeshima.
🧚‍♂️ Most of Vidaria’s fans are in her dorm and despite not usually being one for idol music, Sebek is one of her most fervent supporters. Malleus has also grown to enjoy the groups music despite initially disapproving of Vidaria’s participation with them.
🧚‍♂️ Vidaria is described as having a very operatic voice and she will often take on the solos Ione might not want. At Danica’s insistence, she’s also begun taking ballet to improve her dancing.
hey!!! deimos here :)
i hope you're having amazing holidays!
first of all, id like to apologize for not being so active these past weeks. they've been way busier than i expected and i wish i'd had more time to chat with you. however i do hope we'll become friends even though we didn't talk as much as i expected :)
now, about your last response to my ask:
i loved back to the future! i've watched the three films but its been a few years since i've watched them, so i cant quite remember exactly what happens. (but i do remember i liked them a lot!)
i prefer icarly mainly because i watched it more than victorious when i was a kid (i dont really know why......i just know it was easier for me to watch icarly????????). my favourite icarly episodes are any episodes where spencer has tons of screen time. i really like those where they go to japan as well! and spencer is definitely my favourite character. spencer and gibby – they are THE best!
speaking of nostalgia, i've recently started playing club penguin again. i grew up playing it, got really sad when it ended and now i'm back at it (obviously not playing the original BUT its still cool)
it really was amazing. i'm curious for what's going to be the theme for next year's presentation. i think it's going to be an even nicer experience since i'll probably feel more confident :)
yes!!!!!!! make pluto a planet again!!!!!! pluto's been a planet for so long why not just let it be a planet??? it's not harming anyone!!!
lore olympus is really lovely. i hope you enjoy reading it! i don't think deimos appears at least for the parts i've read. who knows what happened after that?
again, i hope you've had/are having lovely holidays. i loved being your secret santa and i really really wish i'd had the time and energy to talk to you more often during this. but what's done is done and i really hope we'll keep chatting (you're so nice and interesting aaaaaaah!!!!!!)
have a great day :)
- lilly
hello, lilly/deimos! it’s nice to finally meet you!!! i apologize for the late response, as i’ve been busy with work and i also have a concerning tendency to stall before responding to people. so don’t even worry about giving late responses, as i completely understand how difficult it can be at times! with that being said, i hope you’ve had a wonderful holiday!
there’s this little quirk about bttf 2, which is most notably one of the most random subplots in cinematic history, where marty suddenly gets pissed off every time someone calls him ‘chicken’. it’s absolutely hilarious when you go back and watch that scene where he turns around and says, ‘nobody calls me chicken’ with a serious tone. where did this subplot come from? why is it pertinent for the movie to establish that marty doesn’t like to be referred to as a barnyard animal? i don’t know, but it’s funny as hell lmaoooo
spencer and gibby are the backbone of icarly, to be completely honest. spencer’s niche artistic expression paired in with his genuine passion for his little sister’s show is what makes him such a great character. and gibby’s eccentricities are also what makes the show so iconic even years after its final cancellation. (although, noah munck did admit that he began to feel exhausted by how fans of the show would constantly go up to him and ask him to pull off his shirt—the whole “gibbyyy” routine) it’s a shame that gibby’s anticipated spinoff show was cancelled before an official pilot was released. it would’ve been interesting to see how that character’s life would’ve progressed post-series finale. instead, we got ‘sam and cat’ ; a decent show that contained two of the most beloved characters on nickelodeon at that point in time, but a failed emulation of its predecessors
icarly tangent aside, that’s awesome that you reconnected with club penguin again! did you play any other online games that were popular at that time like petpet park, movie star planet, poptropica, ect.? (damn.. we had so many virtual games that catered to our demographic back then :( )
okay, if you receive any hints as to what’s going to be next year’s theme for your presentation, i’d love to know! it’s great to know that you’re gradually becoming more comfortable with performing in front of others!
YOU’RE RIGHT!!! pluto has never committed a single crime (besides being too short, i guess) this is a noble cause for short kings/queens worldwide : advocate for pluto’s validity as a planet!!! and hopefully, deimos makes at least a minor appearance in the most recent issues of lore olympus. he deserves more representation, poor chap :(
as i’ve said previously, don’t fret about not having sent enough asks during this event. i wholeheartedly enjoyed exchanging messages with you and hope to become good friends as we enter the new year! you’re very kind and interesting, and you’ve introduced me to media that was unfamiliar to me before. overall, you’re really cool and i anticipate that we continue to keep in touch here on tumblr :D
have an amazing day!!!
Yeah I can see where you're coming from. Perhaps 'gritty' wasn't the right word for Madou Monogatari, however I still to a degree stand by my statements. There is a very noticeable tonal shift from Compile Madou/Puyo to SEGA Puyo. Now that it's an actually respectable time where I am and not midnight, I'm gonna go a little more in depth about my feelings on the matter.
(this is long sorry)
Compile
Compile's era is, and likely always will be, my favorite Puyo era, so this might be a little biased, but I'll try to keep it unbiased lol.
Madou Monogatari was definitely more serious, even outside of PC98 ports. the PC98 ports were most certainly the most serious, I won't lie, because I mean where else would you see Schezo kidnap Arle for power and then get decapitated. However, it's not just PC98 ports of games that has this more serious vibe. For this, we'll throw out the games that had multiple versions based on platform and stick with the ones that had no changes.
Madou Monogatari: ARS was released for--you guessed it-- PC98, however this was the only platform it was released on. ARS, in my opinion, is rather serious. Not in it's display at times, but the overall themes are rather serious. Arle gets lost in the woods when she's only 4 years old, Rulue gets kidnapped by The Count when she's 16, and Schezo is separated from his class and runs into Runelord when he's 14. (congrats on finally getting an official wiki page runelord)
The themes ARS deals with are arguably very heavy! These are children in horrible situations
Madou Monogatari: Chaotic Final Exam was released for Windows 95. This game is very lighthearted at the start, but they also show Schezo 'dying' on screen, and Arle and Rulue both operate under the impression that Schezo died to save their lives for the remainder of the game, which leaves a lasting impact. And also Rulue comically knocks out Satan yesss queen.
Madou Monogatari (Saturn), local fan favorite when you ignore Schezo the entire time, was very obviously released for the SEGA Saturn. This game is also rather light hearted, but it also depicts Schezo getting whipped (literally) by Succubus, and also we all know what Schezo does in the Draco path. That isn't gritty its just eye burning and I wish Ii could unsee my boy doing that.
Anyway, the point of this is that Compile's Puyo is more rooted in their hit series Madou Monogatari. Not everything they make is influenced by it, as shown in Puyo Puyo SUN, (although SEGA did have a hand in making SUN), and it can be rather easy to forget that the first 2 ports for Madou Monogatari 1-2-3 was for MSX2 and PC98. These games were in the 90s, so obviously they've got a lot of stuff that wouldn't hold up in modern games. Madou 1-2-3 is very heavy in the PC98 version, and it can be argued that the MSX2 version is kind of messed up too. I mean who let's their 6 year old fight for her life in a tower for KINDERGARTEN.
The point is, a lot of elements were taken from both the MSX2 version and the PC98 version. PC98 had decaptation, bloody eyes, kidnapping, the test body we don't talk about, and the such things weren't limited to PC98. In the Game Gear version of Madou 2 there's a dead body that scares Arle when she's trapped in Schezo's Dungeon, which according to the Nexus Wiki, implies that Schezo would have done the same thing to her. Anyway, I'm rambling about this. It's easy to forget that Schezo was also an almost irredeemable villain at one point as well.
SEGA
SEGA, who's known for very kid oriented games, like Sonic the Hedgehog (can be debatable lets be real), picked up the copyright for Puyo Puyo in the early 2000s after Compile went bankrupt (story for another day). SEGA, who was making a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog games at the time, started up work on the Puyo Puyo series. Compile and SEGA did a lot of collaborations on the franchise in the past, so they had no problem picking up where Compile left off. However, SEGA didn't own any copyright at all to the Madou Monogatari series, so they had no roots in the Madou era of the game's history. This let them branch out into the market for more childrens games, and it did work.
Puyo Puyo is a rather large seller, and SEGA even reskinned a Puyo game to create Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine for a western audience. SEGA did a lot of 3/DS game's, and since the DS was so popular, the more recent Puyo games became a big hit, namely the Anniversary games and the Fever games, which introduced SEGA only characters like Sig, Raffina, Amitie, Klug, and then Aya, otherwise known as the Crimson Spirit.
The backstory for Aya is a lot like something that would be in an early Compile game. A demon in a book that was sealed ages ago and split in 2. It's a very interesting story that caught my eye whenever I first got into Puyo Puyo. Aya as irredeemable is a very captivating perspective, one that I myself am very fond of. In recent games, there isn't exactly a villain that's so bad you almost need to hate them, and sometimes that works out well, and sometimes it leaves something to be desired from fans.
I entered the Puyo fandom after playing Puyo Puyo Tetris. Veteran fans of my blog remember the embarrassing Ex phase I had. When I first played it, I won't lie, I was hoping to see some sort of evil, irredeemable villain that would be destroying the universe with some horrible motive. When Ex came on-screen with his depression arc, I was surprised. While I would have loved to see a villain that did something evil just to be evil, I did really like the direction that SEGA took Ex's character. The soul crushing loneliness that destroyed Ex and made him fall into such a horrible depression was arguably more moving than an irredeemable villain could have done.
In Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, I was again hoping to see a villain as such, however I was once again let down. I enjoyed the game and I like Squares and Marle as characters, but to once again see a redeemable villain left something to be desired. I liked his motivation and I liked both of their stories, and Marle did no doubt go through something similar to Ex, but since PPT1 already tackled such a topic, it felt less moving as an ending. This isn't to say that I want it changed, or that I dislike the ending, but I do wish that SEGA would take a different direction with their themes sometimes. I have not play Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop for the same reasons as you, so I can't comment on any themes or villains that appear there.
Anyway, these are just some of my thoughts. I'd also love to see more irredeemable villains from SEGA, and I think that Aya works as both irredeemable and redeemable. We'll just have to hope that whatever direction SEGA take's that story works out.
as always id love to hear others thoughts on the matter ^o^
puyo nerd out lol
I am getting sick of the redeemable/not really evil villains. Yes I do like them but there's just so many now! It was far more varied in Compile!
[Post this and I will reblog with my rant about this subject]
11 celebrities who've been called out for homophobic comments
This is gonna be interesting...
1. In 2020, Twitter users accused J.K. Rowling of transphobia after comments she made on Twitter. Rowling tweeted, "'People who menstruate.' I'm sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?" Fans on social media quickly told the writer she was not being inclusive to the transgender community. Rowling backed up her statement by tweeting, "I respect every trans person's right to live any way that feels authentic and comfortable to them. I'd march with you if you were discriminated against on the basis of being trans. At the same time, my life has been shaped by being female. I do not believe it's hateful to say so." She also said, "I want trans women to be safe. At the same time, I do not want to make natal girls and women less safe. When you throw open the doors of bathrooms and changing rooms to any man who believes or feels he's a woman – and, as I've said, gender confirmation certificates may now be granted without any need for surgery or hormones – then you open the door to any and all men who wish to come inside. That is the simple truth."
2. Kevin Hart stepped down from hosting the Academy Awards after his old homophobic comments surfaced, saying, "I am evolving and want to continue to do so."
Between 2009 and 2010, Kevin Hart made insensitive jokes on Twitter and in his standup specials. For example, in one tweet, the comedian said he would break a dollhouse over his son's head if it turned out he was gay. In his 2010 special, "Seriously Funny," he reiterated the point that he would act abusively if his son was gay. "I wouldn't tell that joke today, because when I said it, the times weren't as sensitive as they are now," Hart later told Rolling Stone. "I think we love to make big deals out of things that aren't necessarily big deals, because we can. These things become public spectacles. So why set yourself up for failure?" When it was announced that Hart was going to be the host of the Oscars in 2018, his past jokes resurfaced. After backlash from the public, Hart stepped down as host. "I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year's Oscar's....this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists," he wrote in a tweet. "I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past … I am evolving and want to continue to do so. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart."
3. After Paris Hilton was caught criticizing the gay community in an audio recording, she apologized, saying, "Gay people are the strongest and most inspiring people I know." In 2012, an audio recording of Paris Hilton in a taxi cab was leaked. According to reports, she was in the car with a gay man who was showing her the gay dating app, Grindr. In the audio, you can hear Hilton say, "Gay guys are the horniest people in the world. They're disgusting. Dude, most of them probably have AIDS. ... I would be so scared if I were a gay guy. You'll like, die of AIDS." Her publicist confirmed that the recording was in fact Hilton but emphasized the socialite was not homophobic. (Are they sure about this? God...) In an apology statement, Hilton said, "I am so sorry and so upset that I caused pain to my gay friends, fans, and their families. Gay people are the strongest and most inspiring people I know."
4. After a member of the audience called out Tracy Morgan for his homophobic remarks during a standup set, the comedian apologized. In 2011, a man chronicled Tracy Morgan's standup set in Nashville on Facebook. In the post, the man said Morgan said being gay is a choice because "God makes no mistakes." The comedian also allegedly said he would stab his son if he came out as gay. (Kevin Hart, you here?) After backlash and a half-hearted apology on "Late Show with David Letterman," Morgan issued an official apology. "I want to apologize to my fans and the gay & lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville," he said. "I'm not a hateful person and don't condone any kind of violence against others. While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends know what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context." (Good sir. There is more to LGBTQ+ then just gays and lesbians)
5. Sarah Silverman used a gay slur in a 2010 tweet. When asked about it in 2018, she said, "I'm certainly creative enough to think of other words besides that that don't hurt people." In 2010, Sarah Silverman tweeted, "I don't mean this in a hateful way but the new bachelorette's a f-----." Although the tweet went relatively unnoticed at the time, it picked up momentum again in 2018 when people pointed out that it was unfair for Kevin Hart to step down from hosting the Oscars for doing something similar. "Yea, I'm done with that," Silverman told TMZ when she was asked about it in 2018. "I think I can find other ways to be funny. I used to say 'gay' all the time like, 'That's so gay!' Because we're from Boston. We'd go, 'That's what you say in Boston. I have gay friends. I just say gay.' Then I heard myself, and I realized I was like the guy who'd say, 'What? I say colored. I have colored friends.' I realized it's stupid, and I'm certainly creative enough to think of other words besides that that don't hurt people. But I fuck up all the time."
6. Eminem has been criticized for using gay slurs in his songs, but he insists he isn't homophobic. In 2018, Eminem released his album, "Kamikaze." In one song titled "The Fall," he focuses on fellow rapper Tyler, The Creator. In the song, Eminem raps," "Tyler create nothin', I see why you called yourself a f----t, bitch." This wasn't the first time rapper had been criticized for using a gay slut. Throughout his career, he has used similar words in his songs and received a lot of criticism for it. Eminem, however, insists he is not homophobic. "The honest-to-God truth is that none of that matters to me: I have no issue with someone's sexuality, religion, race, none of that," the rapper told Vulture. "Anyone who's followed my music knows I'm against bullies — that's why I hate that f---ing bully Trump — and I hate the idea that a kid who's gay might get s--- for it."
7. Mel Gibson mocked how gay men act in the early '90s. While doing an interview in 2001 for Spanish newspaper El Pais, Gibson said, "With this look, who's going to think I'm gay? I don't lend myself to that type of confusion. Do I look like a homosexual? Do I talk like them? Do I move like them?" Throughout the '90s, GLAAD protested Gibson's films, but the actor refused to apologize. "I'll apologize when hell freeze over," he said. "They can f--- off."
8. Alec Baldwin went on a homophobic Twitter rant against a reporter he did not agree with. He later said his remarks were "in no way was the result of homophobia." In 2013, Daily Mail reporter George Stark wrote a story accusing Alec Baldwin's wife, Hilaria, of tweeting at James Gandolfini's funeral. Baldwin took to Twitter to express his anger at Stark, calling the reporter a "toxic little queen," among other comments. In an interview with the Gothamist after the incident, Baldwin stood by his decision to call the reporter a "queen." "The idea of me calling this guy a 'queen' and that being something that people thought is homophobic … a queen to me has a different meaning. It's somebody who's just above," he told the publication. "It doesn't have any necessarily sexual connotations," Baldwin said. "To me a queen ... I know women that act queeny, I know men that are straight that act queeny, and I know gay men that act queeny. It doesn't have to be a definite sexual connotation or a homophobic connotation." He later issued an official apology, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "My anger was directed at Mr. Stark for blatantly lying and disseminating libelous information about my wife and her conduct at our friend's funeral service. As someone who fights against homophobia, I apologize," Baldwin said. "I would not advocate violence against someone for being gay, and I hope that my friends at GLAAD and the gay community understand that my attack on Mr. Stark in no way was the result of homophobia."
9. Chris Brown also used homophobic language (no shockers there) when talking about another rapper, but he later said, "I love all my gay fans." In 2010, rapper Raz provoked Chris Brown when he tweeted about Brown's past assault on Rihanna. Brown responded by attacking Raz on Twitter, referencing the fact that Raz was molested by another man as a child and calling him a "#homothug." "I'm not homophobic! He's just disrespectful," Brown tweeted later. "BTW…I love all my gay fans and this immature act is not targeted at you!!!! Love."
10. Azealia Banks has a long history of problematic comments, but she has since said she will no longer use gay slurs. In 2015, singer Azealia Banks was caught on camera yelling at a flight attendant after getting into a fight with a fellow passenger. In the video, you can hear Banks call the flight attendant a gay slur, according to HuffPost.She later tweeted about the incident, writing, "I don't care. I've said it before and I'll say it again."Banks' history with the word doesn't stop there. In 2016, she used the word to attack fellow singer Zayn Malik on Twitter, leading to the deactivation of her account. She has also called the LGBTQ community "the gay white KKK. Get some pink hoods and unicorns and rally down rodeo drive."In 2016, however, she announced she is never using the gay slur again. "The amount of people that get hurt when I use the word vs. the amount of people I've said it to are just not worth it," she wrote on Facebook. "Honestly... This isn't a cop-out, it's just me realizing that words hurt. and while I may be immune to every word and be thicker skinned than most, it doesn't mean that I get to go around treating people with the same toughness that made my skin so thick."
11. Drake Bell received backlash after posting a transphobic tweet. He later called the remarks "thoughtless." When Caitlin Jenner came out as transgender in 2015, Nickelodeon actor and singer Drake Bell tweeted, "Sorry...still calling you Bruce." After receiving backlash, he deleted the tweet and then posted another, misgendering Jenner. "I'm not dissing him! I just don't want to forget his legacy! He is the greatest athlete of all time," Bell tweeted. "Chill out!" After that, he tweeted out an apology. "I sincerely apologize for my thoughtless insensitive remarks," Bell wrote. "I in no way meant to hurt or demean those going through a similar journey. Although my comments were made in innocence, I deeply regret the negative effect they've had on so many."
Here are some tweets that were mentioned earlier (I couldn't find all of them)
bad post review: hozier?
I forgot this was in my screenshots, and found it again when I was searching for the Happiest Season post for the last Bad Post Review, so here goes.
Tumblr media
I'll be upfront: I'm not a huge Hozier fan. I think his lyrics, much like those of Florence Welch or The Mountain Goats, are spectacular and would make for great poetry; in terms of musical sound, however, he's just not my cup of tea (nor are Florence nor TMG). That said, I appreciate the contribution he's made towards normalizing* Irish folk and the influence of Black soul musicians. I wish horny teenagers on Tumblr would retire the words "yearning" and "fae," sure, but that's nothing I can't fix with a handy word blocker.
Now, with that established: what the FUCK kind of bug crawled up this person's ass?
*Using this word in its actual context, not the definition armchair therapists on the internet like to use it.
No, Hozier does not "hate" his fans. Everything I could find in terms of articles, Tweets from the man himself, interviews, etc., seems to point towards the fact that... he thinks it's swell that people like his music. That's it! It's not that deep! That said, of course he, like everyone else, wouldn't appreciate if someone said something inappropriate (and there have been a couple of recorded instances where he's shut down someone nagging him about releasing new music or asking an inappropriate personal question), but disliking publicity and paparazzi does not "hating your fanbase" make.
As I mentioned, I'm not the biggest fan either of "grown adults [...] saying 'take me to church is a lesbian swamp witch anthem a sexy lady witch possessed this man to write this'" (to quote verbatim), no. I also don't think it's a genuinely harmful phenomenon. It's a bunch of kids and young adults fantasizing about a comfortable future, with a side of the allure of monsters thrown in as garnish. It's nothing that people haven't been doing since time immemorial.
The point this person makes about the music video's being set in Russia is simply inane. Music videos aren't inherently connected to the songs themselves, and songs can absolutely be divorced from the "context" of their music videos (if they even have official videos). Yeah, it could be seen as offensive to do something like project your favorite fictional characters into the music video's setting, I guess, but simply taking the song -- which came first! -- and applying it to your daydream about living in the woods with your sexy lesbian bog witch lover isn't actually harmful in any way whatsoever.
Also, "that song had such a serious message"? Bitch, no it didn't. Even Hozier himself said that it's "essentially about sex"! It wasn't until the music video that the song even garnered mainstream attention. Hozier has said in interviews that the song was inspired by a breakup he had with a past girlfriend. You can apply a deeper meaning to the song if you want, that's totally fine. But that's not the only valid interpretation.
To top it all off, my favorite sentence fragment from this post: "all of you lily white bitches...": what fucking skin color do you think the overwhelming majority of persecuted gay men in Russia have, OP? Is it white? Is it "lily white," OP? Do you have brain worms? Are there worms in your fucking brain?
Here it is, the official ⚡️THORUNN⚡️ Spotify playlist, all 85 mins of it!
I listened to these songs quite a bit while drafting, revising, and putting the finishing touches on my novel, and it's carefully curated (if listening from the desktop, or premium on the app) to give y'all the perfect ⚡️THORUNN⚡️ listening experience. A good bit of these songs could apply to either Laine or Kenton, (though some are specific to each – kudos to you if you can accurately guess which!) but some also center around other characters – both friend and foe – and around themes from the novel: family, loss, forgiveness, hope.
The playlist starts off rather melancholy (given what happens to Kenton's family in the beginning of the book), and bounces back and forth between anger and grief – with some encouragement slipped in between here and there – before leading to a defiant, hopeful ending. I've included some relevant lyrics from each song (most under a cut, since there are 22 songs on this playlist) and there's a mix of styles and genres from a wide variety of artists, though it does trend in the alt/rock direction. Music from the 70's all the way to recent years has made the list, and there's even a South African song gracing this collection!
⚡️THORUNN⚡️ was released May 20, 2020, everywhere books are sold, and I would be utterly delighted if y'all gave this playlist a listen while reading. It'll definitely enhance your experience, and give you a peek into my state of mind while writing.
