#that doesnt work for a lot of reasons. like really. it doesnt.#mostly because imo dorians family situation is extremely relevant to his character and mentality and the way hes influenced so easily#he has a DIFFERENT situation as wotton and basil thats why they both can influence him like its nothing#it also highlights the power/age difference#i GUESS it could work if basils his older brother but it makes no fucking sense really#plus basils obsession/idealization of dorian as an artistic ideal rather than a person is unfortunately extremely plot relevant and romanti#even if not in the healthiest way! it is romantic! and romantic relationships in tpodg are important#because characters use them to manipulate & decieve each other! dorian/allan dorian/sybil wotton/victoria etc#making them brothers simply makes no fucking sense. it takes a loooot away from their actual relationship which is one of the main points o#the fucking novel#not even saying this in a oh no queer erasure way i dont like basil nor the way he was attracted to dorian for looking like a teenager#idgaf about that#but man. tpodg does NOT work like that#tpodg#the picture of dorian gray#roscaposting
