i was reminiscing about my beach vacation earlier this summer, and my mind wandered to…

you looking out at the horizon as the sun peacefully dips behind where the eye can see. closing your eyes, you listen to the soft crashing of the waves, feeling the water crest at your skins. taking a deep breath, you smell the salty ocean air, intensified by the soft breeze that blows your hair out of your face. the seagulls’ cries from above sound nostalgic in a way you can’t exactly place.

you wonder, is this paradise?

a click shifts your attention, and you turn around to catch him standing there with a camera.

“i told you to take pictures of the beach, not me.”

he smirks, “why not both?”

you roll your eyes, unable to stop a small grin as you run up to him. he keeps snapping pictures of you as you approach, and you end up chasing him in small circles in the sand.

click, click, click.

“stop! you’re wasting storage that way!”

he lets out a laugh, and you catch that same beautiful crinkle around his eyes that you’ve loved since you first met him. “it’s never a waste when it’s you.”

yeah, you think, this is paradise.
