Eva Papamargariti (1987)

Born in Greece, lives and works in Athens and London.

Eva Papamargariti’s practice explores the relationship between digital space and material reality. Her work delves into issues and themes related to simultaneity, the merging and disintegration of our environments with the virtual, the continuous diffusion of constructed synthetic images that define and fragment our identity and everyday experience, the entanglement and symbiotic processes that they take place between people, nature and technology.

The Internet – Museums are closed. School is cancelled. The world is shut off and we’re stuck indoors. All the bread has been sold and Twitter has lost its mind. Fox News is killing off its own demographic. While everything is cancelled, why not have a show?

In spite of everything, Silicon Valet is pleased to present Well Now WTF?, an online exhibition curated by Faith Holland, Lorna Mills, and Wade Wallerstein with web design by Kelani Nichole. Featuring over 90 artists with moving image practices, the show will open April 4, 2020 from 5 to 10 pm EST and run indefinitely.

With everything going on, we ask ourselves: Well Now WTF? We have no answer, but we do know how to make GIFs. We can come together and use the creative tools at our disposal to build a space for release outside of anxiety-inducing news cycles and banal social media feeds.

As co-curator Lorna Mills suggests, “Why masturbate alone, when we can all be wankers together?”

Well Now WTF? is as much an art show as a community gathering. Beginning with the opening on April 4 and throughout the exhibition, we will hold online events on the site itself and via Twitch where people can gather and talk as they would normally for a physical exhibition.

The exhibition will also be accompanied by essays by Wade Wallerstein and Seth Watter.

Well Now WTF? will be available online at wellnow.wtf. Join us for the opening party on April 4 via the embedded chatroom.The exhibition will be free and open to the public, with a $5 suggested, pay-what-you-wish entry that gets redistributed to the artists contributing work.

In a World Where Immortality Is the Norm, the Future Is My Future at Galeria Duarte Sequeira in Braga, Portugal

Galeria Duarte Sequeira is pleased to inaugurate its programme of exhibitions with a group exhibition exploring the constantly-redefined term ‘human‘.

16 March — 18 May 2019 Galeria Duarte Sequeira Rua da Galeria nº129, 4700-803, Braga

Using the myth of Eos and Tithonus as a starting point, and with a strong focus on humanity’s quest to live -possibly forever-, the exhibition delves into the collaboration between the human and non-human, the boundaries of natural and artificial, organic and synthetic, the real and fictional, and the aesthetic and the practical.

The exhibition encourages to consider the way each body experiences life individually, and collectively contributes to the expansion of the term ‘human’. With a common desire to make sense of the world and its limitations, the artists discuss the evolutionary process and raise questions around technological advances under capitalism, and how these have, in turn, affected humanity’s relationship with time and nature.
