There’s a lot of things I hate about Medusa retellings but the one I hate the most (aside from demonizing Perseus ofc) is where she is isolated and lonely, that’s just adding unnecessary suffering when it’s an infinitely more compelling story if she had Stheno and Euryale with her.

alright this is annoying me! medusa wasn’t a rape victim in greek mythology!

 there’s no existing greek poet who ever wrote about that origin for her. she was born a gorgon with her two sisters stheno and euryale. perseus’ who was roughly about a teenager when he killed medusa, did so to save his mother because the king of the island they washed up on, wanted his mother, and wanted to rid himself of perseus, so he charged perseus to bring him the head of medusa, a vicious gorgon, in which the king was sure that perseus would be turned into stone like many many others. athena & hermes aided him; athena gave him a shield & hermes gave him his winged sandals. using this mirror athena gave him, he was able to turn the tides on medusa because he could see her reflection without being turned to stone, he then cut her head off.

stop using ovid’s version as the greek version, roman and greek as much as people love to make jokes that romans copied greeks, they have their differences including this myth.

Terrible valentines from the Gorgon sisters: Medusa, Stheno, and Euryale

I made these as an excuse to try out a few different art styles using OCs from an upcoming comic anthology story

i realized that as of april 25th, it's officially been 5 whole years since i started playing fgo myself 🥳 it's bad but it's great, it's awful but it's special, it's hell but it's home. happy to be here, as always

these are some doodles i did while i was vending at a con just a couple months after i started playing!

This unfinished painting of Perseus beheading Medusa by Henry Fuseli is weirdly unnerving, Perseus and Medusa are supposed to be the main subjects of the piece yet you can barely see Medusa’s face and you need to squint hard just to see Perseus’s face, the only somewhat visible faces are Stheno and Euryale, you can see the shock and horror in their expressions. I kinda interpret this as the killing of Medusa from her sisters perspective, from how they remember it, to them Perseus wasn’t the hero of the story so he doesn’t get a face (which only adds to the fact that he was invisible when he killed Medusa so they likely never saw his face at all) and Medusa’s face is faded, unfinished her life was cut short. She’s long dead and they barely remember what she looked like.
