Page 1. --- Three Italians, One Russian, and One Scotchman, Are Under Death Sentence. --- MOST IN JAIL'S HISTORY ----- Three Murder Convictions in One Term Constitutes a Prececedent. ---- Montreal, Sept. 28. For the first time in the history of the Montreal Jail, first commissioned in 1869, there are five prisoners awaiting execution for murder. Likewise for the first time in the history of the Court of King's Bench the Crown has secured three convictions on murder charges in one term.

The condemned men at the local Jail are John Cummings, found guilty, at the June term of the court, of the murder of his wife on Chateauguay street, in Point St. Charles, on the 21st November last, who is sentenced to hang August 9th, and Sylvio Yacovloft, for murdering his sister-in-law, Louisa Tremblay, on March 19th last, and who was sentenced to hang on September 20th.

Both were convicted, at the June term of the Court of King's Bench and delay of execution was grante in both lostances owing to the fact that the Minister of Jüstice was a way in Euroue. The date for the execution of these two men, present fixed is at 4th and November 15th November, respectively.

The accused during the present term are all Italians, the most sensational of all the hearings being that of Antonio Ferduto, finally found guilty of the murder of Louis Hoste, the St. Laurent stonecutter whose body, with his throat cut, was found In a lane in the rear of Clark St.
