if asked, would comet/maximus/eunchae/ludovico say they were a dog person, cat person, both, or neither? or have a different animal preference altogether? (also feel free to add in however many characters you like, i didnt wanna list all of them at once lol)

@boxur: maximus is definitely a dog person. as a child he had a pet german shepherd named dulce whom he treasured. she died when he was about 16 and it was his first brush with grief. also, guard dog motif. his last name (ochoa) means wolf, btw 🐺

comet is a dog person in that he's a dog furry and he views himself as a dogboy, but we eventually give him a pet cat named blaze. i joke a lot about "dogboy erasure", a made-up concept for my frustration with people labelling characters i view as dogboys as catboys, but i also think comet is a likely candidate for that for a lot of reasons. i will admit he does have some kittylike mannerisms, and the slit pupils... but i think these things are more to do with him being part-demon than catlike. maybe i'm just too precious about my dogboys, though.

eunchae is a foxgirl :3 foxes are her motif and favorite animal, but since foxes are canines I guess that does make her a doggirl. we also joke about giving her a pet raccoon but i don't think that'll ever be canon, except for in pokéverse where she has a shiny galarian zigzagoon named pentakill.

ludovico... hmm. it's kind of hard to say. i guess he's sort of catlike? but again that may just be chalked up to him being a demon, but he's also very sly and mischevious (but also affectionate and caring)... so i think my answer is cat person.

who else... hmm. thinking of everyone who is relevant to season 1.

vigil is a puppyboy 100% while bazath is definitely a catboy. cheryl is a dog person because dogs are good hunting partners. marlene is a cat person. yvette... dog person. coven cats, convent dogs. lucifer goats and dogs. i'm sure i'm forgetting characters but those are the ones that stick out.

part of eunchae's Childhood Story Arc is that her parents intentionally withheld from teaching her korean culture to better assimilate her into American Life and part of that was that they gave her an American White Girl Name. the name on her birth certificate is Summer, actually. she started going by eunchae when she found out that's what they would have named her if she was born in SK and it's like... a tiny act of reclamation when they've kept so much from her trying to make her into a good little white american girl. and this is kinda silly because i've heard testimony that most people who have ethnic names will get bullied by the idiot loser racists in their class, and i'm sure that would especially be the case here since it's like... 1992 or so, chronologically, but eunchae is like. too intimidating to her classmates to be bullied. she tells people to call her this new ""weird"" name and if in the edge case that someone tries to make fun of her for it she just tries to beat them up. i say 'tries to' not because she isn't strong enough to do it (she is.) but because maximus usually intervenes so she doesn't get fuckign suspended from school again. here is a little silly doodle of school-age maximus and eunchae :]
