Okay so @witchkittymeow asked me to choose a fish for the Drawtectives so here's my take as the designated 'fish guy' of this corner of the drawtectives fandom.

York: Sockeye salmon or Oarfish

Rosé: Firefish or a pink Lophozozymus incisus or a loggerhead turtle

Grandma: Whale Shark or Catfish

Eugene: Phantom Jellyfish or Manta Ray

Jancy: grey conger eel or sturgeon

btw I truly love how the merman episode is the only time that Hilda finds a weird creature and just fucking hates him. just does not sympathise with or try to help him at all. usually there's a point in these where she realises she did something wrong or decides the lil guy has a good reason for what they're doing but no. like all through this show I thought we were watching Hilda befriend creatures bc she’s so innately empathetic and forgiving and will go to any lengths to do right by her weird lil critter friends but actually the whole time it’s been this

A little bit of lore:

Eugene is a manta ray mermaid, deep sea specialist and inventor. He lives on the outskirts of the city in a large house where he uses his knowledge to design methods of communicating with deep sea mermaids and explore more of the sea bottom. He's trying to venture even deeper into the unknown of the oceans but to do this, he needs the expertise of our lovely Drawtectives (not that he knows it yet), whose designs will come soon!!
