A Gintama chapter a day keeps the ending away...Lesson 482
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bonus image from the chapter because Kagura is just so PRETTY:
Tumblr media
MY 10 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 482:
Tumblr media
Moment 1: Baby Kondou!
Tumblr media
Moment 2: This perverted stalker...right in the perfect upskirt view too...and yet I still love him because he’s such a stupid, sweet gorilla.
Tumblr media
Moment 3: Hijikata is still pretty even with a rock in his face.
Tumblr media
Moment 4: Kondou having perfectly bad aim was distressing because, dammit, not Toshi’s beautiful face!
Tumblr media
Moment 5: First time I saw this, I think I screamed because I just thought of his face being blown up. A thousand NOs to that.
Tumblr media
Moment 6: I mean, honestly, how cute was this? How could I not love this moment. Toshi on the verge of flipping out is adorbs.
Tumblr media
Moment 7: Not a favorite moment, per se, but more like a wtf moment the first time I saw this because I thought it was weirdly coincidental that the old dude would share the same first name as Kondou.
Tumblr media
Moment 8: I shared Hijikata’s reaction. I started wondering just how forgetful Kondou was to not even recognize the place he grew up in. Of course he explained everything right after, but yeah, for that sec, I was like, wtf, Kondou?
Tumblr media
Moment 9: Makes a lot of sense that Kondou was a pervy little boy. I would not have expected anything different.
Tumblr media
Moment 10: That made much more sense, and I liked this moment because I thought it was sweet that Kondou accidentally met up with the priest who took care of him.
SHIPS TALLY:
Kondou x Otae: he’s a stalker but I still think it’s sweet rather than creepy.
Tumblr media
Kondou x Hijikata: just cuz Kondou has his arm around Toshi. It was cute even if I don’t really ship them.
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: Gintama is not only about shipping. Gintama is hilarious, clever, exciting, poignant, heart-breaking, loving, brilliant, and just so freaking amazing.  It is only due to Sorachi-sama’s generosity that I can enjoy Gintama on yet another level, the shippy level, and I am forever grateful for that. GINTAMA IS LIFE AND LOVE.

(Normally, whenever I re-read a chapter to adhere to my NY resolution, I would usually read it, decide on my favorite moments and then post about it in one sitting. Sometimes, due to real life obligations, I would have to read the chapter first and then hours later would I then have time to sit down again to do the last two things. Yesterday, it just so happened that I was able to read the chap and decide on my fave scenes, but then I fell asleep because it was a long day. When I woke up later in the evening, I thought I had already posted about this chapter. I don’t know what happened. Total brain fart, or I was kidnapped by aliens, but basically I didn’t even realize what I did until tonight so...there you go, hence the delay. And that’s my long-ass explanation for something probably nobody cares about other than myself.)

A Gintama chapter a day keeps the ending away...Lesson 483
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MY 10 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 483:
Tumblr media
Moment 1: Kondou being a brave little badass even as a young brat.
Tumblr media
Moment 2: Hijikata seeing right through Kondou and understanding him even without Kondou having to voice his true thoughts.
Tumblr media
Moment 3: I thought they killed him; I was kinda horrified at the thought that Kondou just be faced with his bloodied corpse.
Tumblr media
Moment 4: He IS stronger! He is the SUN of the Shinsengumi!
Tumblr media
Moment 5: Hijikata and the Shinsengumi’s devotion to Kondou never fails to touch me. I just wish Sougo was present as well, but I understand that this was really about Kondou and Hijikata’s relationship and how close they are.
Tumblr media
Moment 6: Love his cool AF entrance.
Tumblr media
Moment 7: As usual, when Kondou is being a total badass, I wish so much that Tae-chan was around to see it so that she could finally fall in love with him.
Tumblr media
Moment 8: Here is where I started to get a little teary-eyed...
Tumblr media
Moment 9: ...and here is when I totally lost it.
Tumblr media
Moment 10: I love this gorilla. I’m glad he got to meet his sensei again and was with him in his last moments.
SHIPS TALLY:
Kondou x Hijikata: even though I don’t ship them, I do really love their close relationship and I completely understand why folks would ship them. It’s obvious that while everyone in the Shinsengumi is devoted to Kondou, he is ultimately the closest to Hijikata, who also knows him the best.
Even a Gorilla can Turn Over a New Leaf
Despite how the local visitors viewed Kondo, the priest didn’t write him off as someone that should be run out of town without at least giving him a chance to redeem himself.
Instead of beating him or rejecting him the way his father did back in his old family dojo, Etekichi inspired and encouraged him that anyone can become a better person if they try.
And now we know where Kondo got inspired to be the man he is now; and I don’t just mean the super ridiculous and goofy gorilla.
But the warm, openhearted guy who accepts others regardless of their past, flaws, or weaknesses. The captain who took in people who society rejected and who had no where to go when they had nothing left.
He definitely gives the same vibe as Gin’s sensei Yoshida, and I’m already getting the impression this’ll be a chapter that will tug at the old tear ducts by the end.

Getting in Too Deep
After their sudden exercise regime with the Shinsengumi, Old Etekichi reveals to Kondo that he’s actually reaching his last leg in life, and more than likely will die a month or so from now.
Even though Kondo intended to get out of this whole misunderstanding and tell him that he can’t possibly become a thief with his position in the Shinsengumi, it looks like he’s gotten in too deep with this one.

Training at Monkey Mountain
And little does Hijikata know Kondo’s actually been hot on their guy’s trail…er….sort of. ^^;
After their little run in on that roof, he’s been trapped with the indisposed position of being this guy’s heir, as well as taking this strange training to become a proper thief.
And Kondo, being too nice and cursed with the worse luck on the planet, can’t get a word in edgewise to old Etekichi that he’s actually a cop.
…Although he manages to make the correct observation of him being a Gorilla. XDD
And it doesn't help that he somehow manages to take out his own division without even trying.
From a cop, to a stalker, to a thief-in-training. I’m not sure if he’s moving higher or lower in the social ladder.

When a Stalker Meets a Thief
Kondo’s routine stalking patrolling has inadvertently caught another nightly drifter’s attention. And apparently he’s so impressed by his stalker-ways that he suddenly claims him as his successor.
