Ooh, that’s a fun one. I have to shout out @flightfoot’s Alya meta here to start. I adore Alya in her own right (hence the profile pic) but sometimes other fans notice details I don’t.

Speaking of details I don’t notice, I love Plagg much more for having read countless fans’ analyses of tiny “throwaway” details in canon that establish his past and hidden depths.

And there’s Nathalie, of course. I would be obsessed if I watched ML alone in my home and never spoke of it to anyone, but all the regular posters in the Gabenath and Eminath tags have my whole heart for their depictions of her character. I have to shout out @stopaskingmetowearthatwig and their comic “Please Take Me Dancing Tonight.”

I’ll be cheeky and say that a specific subclass of @miraculoustakes anons have helped me appreciate a new side to Rolland as well 🫡

Something you see in fics a lot and love:

I’ll read just about anything that has Marinette teach Adrien to cook and/or plays with the idea that he might have lingering trauma/difficulties around food. @sing-in-me-oh-muse does this well. I’m also an absolute sucker for transfem Adrien, though all trans/genderweird Adriens have my whole heart.

I also love every writer who’s bravely asked the question: “What if Adrien, Marinette, Nino, and Alya all lived in the same apartment/building/college dorm and had Roommate Shenanigans?”

A tiny detail in canon that you want more people to appreciate:

I’m not going to be able to find my screenshots rn, but in mid-S5 Adrien and Marinette have a picnic in the same place as the picnic where Gabriel presented Emilie with the peacock brooch and carried her off, presumably to conceive Adrien.

I’ve talked about this before, but the Gabriel/Marinette parallels in the show fascinate me. It goes beyond fashion design and into the ways they relate to the people around them, react to stress, and handle power. It’s always felt fitting that Marinette alone was with him as he made the wish and that their identity reveal was mutual. In Gabriel’s last moments, he and his enemy see each other wholly and completely, as they truly are.

ML AU idea - Miracle Gang

A while back, I posted some sketches I made of a Kwami Swap AU, that my sister dubbed The Miracle Gang. So, here’s what it would actually be. It’s heavy AU, though I’ll try to keep it as close to canon as possible.

First, some changes to the lore before we dive into this:

Outside of Peacock and Butterfly, two other Miraculous have been lost - the Rabbit and the Mouse. The Peacock and Butterfly had been taken by someone shortly after the temple fell, but the Rabbit, Mouse and the Grimoire would be found over a century later by Emilie and Gabriel on their honeymoon.

Emilie is dead. She also dies much earlier than in canon, when Adrien was still very young. Nathalie was a mother figure to him for majority of his life and she and Gabriel have actually gotten married some time after.

I’m not entirely set on how Emilie died, but it’s not a broken Miraculous. I’m thinking about some kind of an accident. A stunt gone wrong? Something as mundane as a traffic accident? I dunno.

Sabine Cheng is a descendant of Fu. I’m thinking either a daughter or a granddaughter. He and Sabine don’t have a good relationship, mostly because he always had to stay on the move as the Guardian and so he was rarely with her growing up and even goodnatured and goodhearted Sabine grew to hold a bit of a grudge against him. She knew about the Miraculous and other kinds of magic. Maybe she was at one point training to become the Guardian herself? I’m not sure.

Gabriel Agreste is a decent person, though he isn’t the most involved parnet there is, because, you know, he actually does work instead of moping in his attic all day waying for the delicious teen angst to show up. He occasionally uses the Rabbit Miraculous and I’m not yet set of a name for him. Nathalie uses the Mouse and I’m working with the name Madame Souris.

Instead of Hawkmoth, there is another villain - I’m thinking about some kind of shadowy organisation, that was an enemy to the Guardian order. Once Feast destroyed the Order, they swooped in and salvaged anything left in the temple. They still are primarily after CN and LB miraculous, but they really will take any Miraculous they can get their hands on ‘cause evil and stuff.

Now, to the meat of it:

Fu and Wayzz sense there is something bad coming - that the butterfly has been activated close-by and there is something wrong about it.

Same as in canon, he selects Adrien and Marinette as Miraculous holders to fight this enemy.

The “test” for Adrien is probably a little different, though, because instead of running away trying to get to school, he’s just going happily with his step-mom and bodyguard (his dad had too much work or something, but he did say goodbye to him before he left and stuff.)

He goes to give Marinette her Miraculous first, but is spotted by Sabine and told to go away (I’m thinking he put Sabine or someone close to her in danger with the Miraculous before and she just doesn’t want it to happen again. That seems in character for her.) He’s not capable of actually delivering the Miraculous and goes back to his appartment to rethink - at that time, he gets attacked by the bad guys and is forced to run with the Miracle Box.

He still has issues transforming, so he runs to Sabine, hoping she would help him. He doesn’t find her or Tom in the shop (they’re having a lunch break) and while he’s trying to figure out what to do, a mail truck arrives with something for the Dupain-Chengs. With Wayzz’s help, he hides the Miracle box in one of the delivery boxes. Then, he first renounces Wayzz and then gives the Guardianship over to Marinette. (Trust issues between him and Sabine go both ways).

Marinette comes back from school and finds her package (maybe some sewing/designing stuff? Fabrics? It’s like Alpha version of this story, I’m still working out the details). She takes it upstairs to her room and opens it there, finding the Miracle Box.

At first, she’s confused, thinking she got the wrong package, but she still opens the box out of curiosity. She sees all kind of jewelry inside, with a couple spots empty. She grabs the ring, trying it on, when suddenly, Plagg appears...

One of the major things I consider to be very good about the portrayal of Gabenath in the show is the fact that the writers never talk down to their audience about what the relationship is.

What I meant by that is, okay, Marinette is the protagonist. Her crush on Adrien is one of the most significant aspects of her character and the story of the show, and whenever her feelings for him present an immediate plot point in an episode, the writers often have to reiterate that Marinette is in love with Adrien, that she’s nervous about confessing this, that she fantasizes about their future, etc. This is for the benefit of a more episodic, casual viewing, particularly for younger fans. That’s fine.

But with Gabenath, yes, they have significantly less screen time; yes, that limited screen time means they can’t repeatedly remind the audience of the nature of their relationship the way they do with Marinette and Adrien’s. But I think I just appreciate how Nathalie’s feelings for Gabriel are a significant part of her character and her motivation - probably her most defining attribute from a storytelling standpoint - yet the writers don’t swallow her up in conspicuous evidence of this.

Of course, a major reason for that is that it would simply be ridiculously out of character for Nathalie to be so demonstrative, but if the writers wanted to, they could have mechanized a means for Nathalie to be more explicit about her feelings for the audience’s sake, even if it wasn’t to Gabriel’s face. But they didn’t need to. And the audience doesn’t need it. Nathalie’s actions, for what little time they are allotted on screen, speak loudly enough about what motivates her and to what extent. Not once have the writers ever exactly stated that Nathalie is in love with Gabriel. Not even in Stormy Weather 2.0. But we know without a doubt that she is.

Gabriel’s feelings are slightly more ambiguous, but that’s only because unlike Nathalie’s behavior towards him, which reflects her established character motivation, Gabriel’s behavior towards Nathalie contradicts his established character motivation. This is something that Adrien has pointed out (“Felix”) and was literally the plot of an entire episode (“Ladybug”), which tells us as an audience that Gabriel’s actions towards Nathalie, if we couldn’t already see their romantic implications, are not thoughtless or meaningless, but indicate cognitive dissonance, thereby acknowledging Gabenath from his perspective.

I don’t know. I guess I’m just thinking that the writers could have been a lot more tell and less show about Gabenath the way they sometimes are about the show’s main pair. The way they handle Gabenath feels sophisticated, but not in a way that only works for older audiences. Young kids are supposed to get this too. I think they’re portraying it very effectively.

44. Cheap - Gabenath

"No, this won't work."

Nathalie stays still. She'd thought the interview had gone well. She thought she had the job, but now her new boss has greeted her like this.

But she's not one to give up, and he's supposed to be demanding. Perhaps this is a test. To see if someone so young can deal with him.

As flatly but politely as she can manage she asks, "what won't work sir?"

"Your outfit." He says, "I'm fighting to establish my brand as equivalent to old houses. I can't have my assistant looking so..." his lip curled, "cheap."

She might, once she's started the job, have the money to spend on the sort of things he clearly values if she's going to wear them every day but that includes starting the job.

"I apologise but,"

"No, no," he waves her off surprisingly her, "I should have thought." A smiles plays around the corner of his mouth, "I suppose that's your job now. Stay still."

She does.

He walks around her. Nathalie's never felt so scrutinised. Like she's caught under a microscope, but even as he comes to a stop, puts his hands on her hips and makes a sound of consideration it's all very clinical. He's looking at her body but he's not looking at her body. There's nothing base about it.

And yet for all he can't mean it to do it, something in her core sparks at the span of his hands around her and the intensity of his eyes, how they seem to invite her in to join him in his venture.

This is the man you're going to be working for, she reminds herself, and forces herself to not let anything show.

"I did a collection last winter," he says apparently blind to the change inside her, "there's a couple of suits in it that'd work for you. Ring up archives and get them to let you try the samples."

I need more Nathalie interactions inseason 4. Despite Nathalie being sick, and the birth of ShadowMoth.

Ugh anon, SAME.

In terms of my predictions, do you want the good news or the bad news first? I guess I’ll sandwich it.

The good news is that I think it’s highly likely that we’re going to get a juicy GabeNath scene in the very first episode. I can almost guarantee that it will go something like this:

Nathalie: (cough cough) Sir, did it work?

Gabriel: (holds up the peacock miraculous) Yes, Nathalie. The peacock miraculous is fixed, all thanks to you.

Nathalie: (holds her hand out)

Gabriel: (puts the miraculous in his pocket) I don’t think that’s a good idea.

Nathalie: If it’s fixed, you have to let me help! (she tries to rise, but Gabriel stops her with a gentle touch)

Gabriel: You’ve done more than enough to help me. It’s too dangerous for you to transform in this state. You need time to heal.

Nathalie: But you can’t afford to lose Mayura now. Not after how far we’ve come. The powers of the peacock are invaluable. You know you can’t win without it!

Gabriel: You’re right... (he dramatically pins the miraculous to his own shirt.) But it’s my burden to bear now.

Nathalie: (silently despairs)

So yeah. If not the first episode, then one of the first three. The show needs to establish Gabriel as Shadowmoth and it needs to give him a good motivation to do it. What better motivation than protecting Nathalie? 

For all of its flaws, Miraculous doesn’t usually drop the ball on the weighty GabeNath moments so I’m pretty confident in this one.

But yes, after this first conversation? I sadly don’t think we’re going to see much of Nathalie for a while. She might have the occasional conversation with Gabriel, but I think we will be lucky to see her in more than 3 episodes for the first half of this season. The exception to this could be if Adrien makes an effort to spend time with her, but I have the feeling that Gabriel will try to limit this in order to let her rest.

I hope I’m wrong. But the season looks like it’s frontloaded with a lot of Marinette-centric drama and I just don’t see how significant Nathalie moments are going to fit in with all that going on.

But:

If I’m right (and I hope I am) we’re gonna see some big changes near the end of the season. Some situation will arise that calls for Nathalie to become Mayura again, and she will hopefully have recovered by then.

But most of all, I’m hoping for a big emotional shift and a big shift in circumstances. To be honest, I’m hoping that Hawkmoth gets a win. A really big win, maybe even the ULTIMATE win. Why? Because I want to see him faced with a choice. Can he really bring himself to make the wish, knowing that his heart isn’t fully in it anymore? Or if he does make the wish, will he regret it and try to set things right in season 5? There’s a world of possibility.

How do you feel abou Nathalie having feelings for Gabriel? I honestly hate it the unrequited love angle they went. I would have prefer it be from a platonic point of love.

Yeah, I’m not really a fan of it. The whole idea of Nathalie having feelings for Gabriel when we saw in Season 1 that she was just his beleaguered assistant who was just doing her job just doesn’t really do it for me.

With Adrien and Luka, we saw how Marinette started to have feelings for them as she witnessed how kind they could be, but it’s never really established why Nathalie is even interested in Gabriel in the first place. Hell, we saw in one episode that Adrien is okay with Gabriel and Nathalie starting a relationship when we don’t even know what their current relationship is like And doesn’t Nathalie know the policy when it comes to coworkers dating?

It doesn’t help that this is yet another unintentional example of a major female character’s motivation being related to how she feels about a man. Like, I swear to God, I don’t think the show is doing this on purpose, but if the writers keep writing their characters like this, I might start to think the show is.

If you ship GabeNath, that’s fine. I’m not trying to discourage anyone from shipping the two together. I have weirder ships for this show. The person writing this post is pure trash for ships like Kagaminette, Kimax, Chlolix and Lukagami.

I think in retrospect, my post bitching about Ladrien was a mistake. It was written out of frustration, in response to a post that I perceived as trying to push Ladrien as morally superior to Marichat. That was probably not the right way to read this post. And even if it had been, the correct response would certainly not have been to vague-tumble (sub-tumble?) about it. I should just delete it.

…or I can double down and post more controversial Miraculous Ladybug shipping hot takes. Which one of these would be more fun? Difficult, difficult…

Adrigami vs Lukanette

I have seen more than one post argue that people prefer Lukanette over Adrigami because of racism, or because Kagami is too pushy, or similar. Now, for the record, I prefer anything above Lukanette and I personally love to ship Adrigaminette (specifically the version where everyone involved is really stupid about it). But I don’t think the moralistic argument can explain all of why Lukanette is so popular.

The problem is that we all love our point of view character Marinette and want good things to happen to her. Yes, there are exceptions in the fandom, but those are a small minority, no matter how loud they are. Adrigami is fun, interesting, engaging, they have both common points and interesting conflicts, and I’d absolutely love to watch a show about it… but Adrigami has one key drawback: It makes Marinette sad. And nobody wants that.

Lukanette, on the other hand, doesn’t make anyone (in universe) sad. Adrien and Kagami are okay with it, and it doesn't seem to affect Marinette's emotional state at all. (Yeah, sorry, not a fan of Luka, but I'll try not to dwell on it because my reasons for not liking him are not interesting, much like he is.)

Lukanette also works really well if you want to be salty about stuff but aren’t willing to go full Batman. The main salt objection to Adrien is that Chat Noir can be too pushy with his romantic feelings, which is arguably true, and that this means he is a horrible person, which I don’t exactly agree with. That cannot be said about Luka, who has no flaws, wishes, character motivation or similar nasty things that could get in the way.

All of these factors have nothing to do with Kagami whatsoever. Now, if you’re wondering why Lukanette is more popular than Kagaminette, then we’re getting somewhere.

Next up, more controversial opinions about other pairings:

Adrienette

Horrible, awful. Adrinette is king.

Marichat

Just to reiterate: I love Marichat moments. I don’t think regular Marichat dates, whether that is romantic dates or friend dates, works at all. Marichat lives from the fact that they’re both friends, yes, but also from the low-key spy vs spy antics where they try to convince each other that they’re not actually best friends yet. (Ladrien could do the same but they’re too busy awkwardly blushing at each other to get any sustained antics going)

Ladynoir

These two do not go on patrols in canon. I know every fan claims so, but there’s no canon evidence, except for Dark Owl/Hibou Noir, where the regular patrols are clearly established as something unusual that both of them want to end soon. Yes, I know there’s one instagram post, and supposedly one tweet (not that I’ve ever seen it), but it’s not in the show. And let’s be real, why would they go on patrols? Hawkmoth canonically creates Akumas whenever, including frequently during school hours. Patrols can’t help against that. That’s why our heroes canonically use alerting apps.

The reason why people love patrols is because it gets Ladynoir together without having to invent an Akuma. I can see the appeal behind that… but honestly, isn’t that just lazy? The show generally makes sure to show us the tail end of the adventure that brought them together this time, and I think that is more fun. Alternatively, sometimes, the show just doesn’t bother to explain why they’re together in costume at all (e.g. the end of Chat Blanc), and it turns out that this is also a thing you can do and nobody will hate you for it.

Adrinette

This may be my most controversial opinion yet, but I want these two crazy kids to kiss and hold hands and grow old together.

Adrigaminette

Yes, I know it'll never be canon. But I refuse to believe that they didn't realise people would ship it when they wrote the beginning of Heart Hunter. That whole sequence seems like it was designed to get me to ship it, and you know what? It succeeded.

Maribat aka Daminette

Kill it with fire.

Alyanette

We don’t have enough of this.

Alyadrien

People, including Zag, are sleeping on what a great platonic friendship pairing this could be. Just those two geeking out about how great Ladybug, Marinette, Nino and Carapace are.

Kagaminette

I have nothing but love for this pairing; I'm just including it here for completeness.

GabeNath

The problem with that ship is that I don’t want good things to happen to either of these people. Which means I'm perfectly okay with the canon version of this ship, where it's clear that both of them are emotionally stunted, callous and immoral and are never going to find happiness. The fact that it’s technically cheating only adds to that. I am not fond of fan versions where these two and Adrien are one happy family, though.

The pairing is perfect, but I have to say: Lady WiFi is cooler and fits better for Alya than Rena Rouge. Who ever thought to give the journalist the Miraculous that is all about lying and deception?

I’m very okay with Nino not being the Bubbler, though.

See JuleRose. Actually, I think when directly compared to JuleRose, they could really do with some more development, some more scenes of them together. I do ship it, but they seemed to have gotten the “official unacknowledged gay boys couple” almost out of nowhere.

Miracle Queen

At long last, my late Miracle Queen analysis is here....I apologize for the wait, this would have been out yesterday but unfortunately I realized I had places to be. 

As usual, spoilers are below

Marinette and Luka

DId anyone else take Marinette asking Luka about that “perfect tune” as a different take on asking someone out? Because she asked about it, but then Luka didn’t play it because she was still thinking about Adrien.  Then at the end of the episode, he ass “Are you sure you want to hear it” after she was done thinking about what Master Fu said about life not always giving you what you want or expect but it not necessarily being a bad thing. 

Low-key I interpreted the end of Miracle Queen being the start of a Lukanette relationship. 

And he pulled a Chat Noir here.

“No!” for once when Adrien doesn’t want someone’s advances they actually stop. Kagami respect.

“I mean, yes!” This boy is so confused... I mean, clearly he likes Kagami. He could probably see himself being in a sucessful relationship with her but he’s so confused by his feelings for Ladybug, these surfacing feelings for Kagami and his repressed feelings for Marinette...poor kid.

“Your indecision is hurtful, Adrien” I like that she’s not pushing him, but letting him know that he needs to gather himself soon.

Hawkmoth and Mayura: Well....

“Dont know this one, he’s cute,  but he gets his clothes from a dumpstser” Luka X Chloe has been canonically shot down. 

Okay so...now Hawkmoth knows the identies of ALL the miraculous wearers outside of Ladybug and Chat Noir...what now? I mean, these all have to be people Ladybug knows and trusts right?- Hawkmoth now knows all their identities, so, he can find out what they have in common. 

They all go to the same school. If he found that out, he could narrow it down to have Ladybug be going to their school as well. 

Then, he could find out WHO they all have in common. Most of them are class mates, so it’s likely someone in THEIR class, but what about Kagami and Luka? The classmates all have relationships with their fellow classmates in common, but Kagami and Luka? Who do they have in common with the class? 

Marinette and Adrien. If it weren’t for Kagami, Juleka. So this is actually kinda dangerous for Marinette if Gabriel and Nathalie followed that line of thinking.

I don’t know I just get the feeling this scared him.She completely rag-dolled like on some of those video games, and his instinct wasn’t to just catch her either, no, it was to just completely wrap her up in his arms like a burrito.

Then he’s asking her forgiveness, like...he knows he’s in the wrong letting her use it even if she is willing to help him or not. But he can’t do it without her. 

“Don’t blame yourself. From the very first day, I knew that I’d do anything for you.”

So basically what happened was, she was quite fond of Gabriel and loved his family before all of this. But as soon as he told her he was going supervillain, she got smacked in the face with something more because she got to see how much he was willing to do to keep his family intact. 

And he pulls her closer

And then just absolutely melts into her hand

And I am here for it.

I love them and they love each other. 

She’s so pretty. Now, that aside- she brought back Hawkmoth’s sentimonster. Is it a new one or the same one? It certainly looks the same...but what emotion has it been created from, exactly? Does that matter when reviving a sentimonster, assuming it’s supposed to be the same one? Or is it completely different aside from appearance? Her eyes are pretty in these shots.

I am in no way attracted to Gabriel but when we get shots like this I can kinda understand why Nathalie would be.

This positive reinforcement...absolutely wonderful. She already had a breakdown and was on the verge of another. Chat kept that from happening and did his job as her kitty to keep her grounded and focused. They’re starting to see each other in different lights, her opening up to him so much emotionally like that proves that no matter what they’ll always have an unbreakable bond. They’re literally each other’s pillar of support.

“Littlebug” I love it. Imagine if that’s what he calls his future daughter assuming they get together in the future? Adorable. 

“No, its to dangerous! To many powers at the same time”- Master Fu has obviously been teaching Chat Noir too. He’s been getting all the info Ladybug has it seems, just from that line. I like that detail. 

Sometimes I like to imagine Gabriel or Nathalie in place of Hawkmoth and Mayura and this started cracking me up because it reminded me of Simon Says. Flutter flutter. Flap flap.

Who knew snakes liked cheese?

Cutie. And I like how the second time Adrien got the snake miraculous, he was actually able to wield it as necessary because he wasn’t trying to impress Ladybug, 

Okay so, I like how in this shot they didn’t have him breathing or talking and all the noise seemed to kinda stop. It’s realistic and I like that attention to detail.

Gabriel, honey...ily but you’re dumb. Ladybug is right there, her purifying that akuma before it even reaches it’s target was predictable. 

Also when Chloe opened up there, and Ladybug’s face as she realized exactly what all of this was about- I think it hurt both of them. But Ladybug’s already explained herself. Chloe should have known that if she wanted her miraculous back from Ladybug it wasn’t going to be easy. She already told her so...yeah I understand though. She’s just hurt and let it get the best of her. Girl needs to get her emotions in check. 

Sometimes you an really Tell Gabriel lives in the present without thinking much about the consequences of certain things. He looks so freaking happy about Chloe being so adamantly against Ladybug now and wearing all the miraculous, but how is she going to know what to say to transform before Ladybug gets the miraculous away from her? I understand the excitement of a new ally but “I don’t even need to do anything” Idk if you really want her to be able to use all the miraculous and potentially lose her mind as implied from Kwami Buster you might want to distract Ladybug and Chat so she can figure out the right transformation words. 

“Checkmate, Ladybug!” I have little to say except I love it when villains say “checkmate” during battle. 10/10 dialogue. 

He evil laughs so much in this sequence. I wonder if he’s practiced it? Has Nathalie ever walked in on him practicing his evil laugh in the mirror? and this...

Don’t say checkmate until the opponent has no more pawns to move, And the reactiosn the kwamis have? How many masters have they grown to love and admire that they lost just like that? Also I recall someone saying that this thing has a plot hole in it, but I think that Master Fu really was the true guardian of this particular box just from the backstory he has, he was given the miraculous box and grimoir by another master to protect. So he was in a way established as guardian of that box and so I see no reason why he shouldn’t be able to hand ownership over to anyone of his choice. 

“Hawkmoth! Tell them to give me my box back!” Did anyone else find that hilarious? Like a spoiled child running to a father who has the backbone of a chocolate eclair. 

Except in this case he has the backbone of like...a steel rod. 

And then he just goes to scoop up Mayura. 

“How disappointing...”

I like Mayura’s face here too. “Oh, he’s picking me up? Alright, okay I guess so, that’s fine.”

I literally slow down the playback scenes to watch these scenes go slower. It looks like their heads are touching.

That’s a whole mood. Me too. 

“Im going to New York with Mommy!” Chloe you’re a comedian. 

Wow, she really looks like she’s hurting. 

“Oh my Nathalie...” 

There’s not even a comma, he called her his. 

“There are no words to express how sorry I am”

“No, not for nothing” she still remains the optimistic one. She’s comforting him when she’s the one in need. He obviously thinks she should be upset with him but she just continues telling him its okay. All she cares about is making sure he’s happy and doesn’t want him to blame himself for her choices. Gabriel get this woman a ring.

“Goodbye....Master”

I feel so bad for these kwamis. How long does it take before they break after watching everyone they love eventually just die? Have any of them ever emotionally distanced themselves from mortals to avoid the heartbreak when they inevitably lose them? And without Wayzz how long does Master Fu have left being almost 200 years old?

Chloe is really putting on her clown wig in this episode. Mommy is staying in Paris so she can’t go to New York now. Karma, am I right?

“Even if like doesn’t give us the gifts we were hoping for, the true gift is life itself”....And that’s why I think Lukanette is basically canon by the end of the episode. Master Fu’s words play out in her head as she sits next to Luka and she’s not stuttering around Adrien. Her ice cream changes, and I just can’t help but feel like the whole melody thing was symbolic of her accepting Luka’s love and deciding to move on.

They can finally be together...

“Thank you young lady, I will never forget you” if only he knew...

And the way it ended, the endcard...it was all just very sweet and fitting. I do hope Marinette and Adrien will be together by the time Miraculous ends (it’s obviously endgame) but them developing a strong, loving friendship that isn’t plagued with stuttering and stalking is going to be crucial for them to really have a chance at making it. Adrien and Kagami and Luka and Marinette do make sense as couples as we get to know Kagami and Luka more. Still though, I do hope that Adrien and Marinette find each other in the end. There’s to much symbolism pointing to them being (as much as I hate the term) soul mates for them not to. 

And for the record, same with Gabenath imo. Gabriel IS losing his certainties, after all...

There's a room, deep within the twisting halls of the large manor, a room Adrien finds himself both forgetting and daydreaming of often. His father no longer allows for its use, an act born from sorrow and the simple desire to shut it all away, but he lets Adrien use it on two days out of the entire year, just two days. It's the opposite of the cold elegant marble of the rest of the manor. It's somewhat small at least in comparison to the rest of the house, one of the few places that isn't so open, and it's homely. It carries memories of laughter, tea times and story telling. Those two days he's allowed in are coming soon.

Unfortunately I’d never be able to pull that off even if I became a millionaire and recovered from my ME, because 14 weeks would be a LONG time to ditch my medical diet for. (I spent way too long looking for people to tag (because I don’t remember names very well and so could only think of one or two off the top of my head), when I really should have been sorting out my electricity account. You’re welcome! Also if I’ve left off someone I would have liked to have included … sorry … again, found myself doing this at a completely stupid time and couldn’t make myself stop so I was just trying to do it quickly.)

Yeah I think they default back to the guardian. The reason for everything else is the idea that you get what you wish for/the way genie wishes worked in the fairly oddparents. Unless you wished for something super specific, what you got was a crap shoot. She wished to be with Gabe, but not much else. The result was the messed up reality in which no one remembers anything before she made the wish. She's still with Gabe, she's in his house for all eternity at this point.

Oh, yes, I didn’t think of it like that. That “being with him” could just mean being near him at all times, lol. 

Don’t hate me. I’m about to rant (it’s what I do) ;)

To reiterate, this is very much a fun idea to think about, but while this theory would be batshit and mind-blowing and even a reinforcement that Gabriel and Nathalie are “meant to be”, which is attractive, I’m not much of a fan of it myself.

I think because it doesn’t feel realistic, and by that I’m not referring to the whole making-a-reality-altering-wish-with-a-godly-magical-jewelry-set thing. It’s what this would mean for the relationships we’re concerned with here. The concept that Gabriel and Nathalie were an established couple ripped apart unbeknownst to themselves only to find each other again is sweet and possibly compelling if handled well, but I feel like it sort of neglects the personal reasons relationships fall apart and come back together. On the one hand, Gabriel and Nathalie are rebuilding their love through mutual trust and intense care for each other, but that’s only the half of it. With this theory, Emilie would have presented a challenge to their relationship with the wish that would ultimately have nothing at all to do with them. So though that introduces a rather devastating conflict, it’s a far less engaging or accessible conflict than if Gabriel and Nathalie were responsible for all of the changes in their relationship.

Also, I just personally think it’s a lot more down-to-earth to write Gabenath to develop, not because it’s “fate” or “the way things have been and should be”, but because the circumstances of these characters’ lives have simply opened up the possibility of a romantic relationship. Because it’s a way for them to heal. Because they were lonely and available to each other in a time of need.

I mean, with Gabriel and Emilie’s relationship, imagine how much value there is for a kid’s show in portraying a marriage that just didn’t work out. Two people had different values and different visions of the future. Or one of them cared more about the other than the other cared about them. Or one of them was gone with no promise of returning and something else just got in the way. Or imagine the value in portraying a marriage that ends in tragedy. Maybe they were happy but circumstances are cruel and he has to let her go. And Nathalie happened to be the one by his side through it all.

Again, a total mindfuck of a theory and a really enjoyable idea to explore. I don’t want to rain on anybody’s parade by saying all of this, but those are the reasons I personally don’t take to it very enthusiastically.
