"Prostitution is the world's oldest profession..." and "The "i" in lie" are great songs because they both talk about the same thing -- selling yourself out in the music industry-- from two different viewpoints
#essentially what i mean is that gabe is getting PAID to sell himself out by the very people that hate him for selling himself out#while patrick is cheating on the music he wants to make with the music that he knows will do well commercially#<- which btw is not what soul punk is. and honestly soul punk is the OPPOSITE of selling out#which i could make a whole post on but to sum it up soul punk is exactly what it sounds like. its full of soul and is a kind-off fuck you to#people who think pop music is easy to make/only needs a computer to do and not require an ACTUAL human to make the music itself#but in the i in lie patrick tells the story of a man cheating on his wife even though he KNOWS ITS WRONG AND FEELS GUILTY OVER IT#he knows selling himself out to the music industry is wrong. he doesnt like doing it and would much rather be making music he wants to make#but he keeps selling himself out because its the money and fame of it all. '...in the silent aftermath/butterflies subsiding but they can#never look back'#he keeps selling himself out to this industry because it feels good but only for a short while#and so he lies to fans and to himself that he wants this.#but for gabe he understands that the music industry is well an industry#and so to stay on the top you have do 'dirty' things#and that thing will be selling out#and he doesnt think its bad! he thinks its a revolution actually!#he thinks its the only way to 'humor the fools' who could be the people that consume the music (not the fans)#he literally states he doesnt care what people think of him for selling himself out and that the ones that are hating ARE THE ONES THAT ARE#PAYING FOR HIM TO SELL OUT#just. ugh. these two songs are doing something to me today

How many of these new characters do you think will stay around for more than a few episodes? I think Derek will since the promo team made a big deal of Jeff Ward joining the cast and Flint will probably stay around too (though only the first arc), but something tells me the other two will suffer fates similar too that of Isabelle Hartley and Idaho and die early on. I don't see them as long term and the cast is overstuffed as it is.
Hi Anon!
Thank you EW for giving us something!
In the past we’ve seen these kinds of things for both major and minor characters.  Jeph said the “Lost in Space” arc would be about 10 episodes. After that I have no idea if they are going to still be in Space or if things will shift back to earth.
This being AOS I don’t see all of these new faces making it through the arc.
Here is my early take on the characters and very early predictions/thoughts.
Tumblr media
Deke is the ultimate survivor and roguish scavenger, the guy who can get people what they need, but at a price of his asking. With his sharp mind and quick wit, he is both a real asset in a tight spot and a hard man to trust.
I think Deke is going to be with us for a bit and be one of the more major players.
He got a got the big press release, is already in IMDB, was in the first 20 Minutes, and we’ve seen multiple BTS pics of him with Chloe.
In many ways he reminds me of Mace.  He’s going to have an ominous arrival (going after May), sense of humor, asset in a tight spot, and hard to trust.
While he also reminds me a bit of Hunter when we first met him.  Hunter was a mercenary, working for whoever paid him.  Deke gets people what they need, essentially selling his services.
If he is a scavenger he might be able to move about more freely and interact with more characters (I’m still watching for the team to get separated once in Space).

Tess is resourceful, striving to be self-sufficient in very desperate circumstances, but she has hung on to her hopes for a better future for herself and those closest to her. She is living proof that even in the toughest of times, good people will still fight for each other.
I think she’ll be around for at least the first few episodes but I’m going to try really hard not to get super attached to her.  For me she is high on my “not going to make it list”.
I can see her easily bonding with a few people on the team, showing them the ropes, and even protecting them.
If she’s trying to be self-sufficient its ounds like there will be someone in the mix that is taking advantage of the situation and those who are trapped.
I’m totally in love with her costume.  It looks like an air force flight suit with the patches pulled off.
I have a number of theories on this.  Either the Spacenappers have been collecting people throughout the years or that a group went through the portal, maybe our ‘true believers’, some time in the 50-70s and these guys are the descendants of that group.

Flint is a young man who’s been forced to grow up fast in a tough environment, but hasn’t lost his desire to make something of himself. When he crosses paths with our S.H.I.E.L.D. team, he just may get the chance to prove that he’s capable of big things. Fun fact: Flint is based on a character from Inhumans comics who has the ability to control rock and stone.
Alright AOS I’m saying it right now, no killing the kid!   I like the kid already!  I do think he’ll be around for a bit as well.
I am going to bet he’ll get close to some of the team….looking at Daisy, Mack and Elena as early front runners, especially if he does turn out to be Inhuman.
He had to grow up quickly so that could either mean that he’s new as well or he has been here for a long time and was forced to grow up fast.
Hints from his costume.  He’s got what looks like Coulson’s long sleeve Space PJ’s in addition to what reminds me of a Fishermans Jacket.
He looks to be based on Jason AKA Flint.  An Inhuman that can manipulate the earth around him.  I also found a little bit of his origin interested, adopted by a community of Inhumans that were trying to avoid Terrigen for 10,000 years.
Looking at the above theories this could have landed them in space.

Grill is a gruff taskmaster, lording over those under his command with an unforgiving temperament. He has no illusions about the world he lives in and this makes him a man not easily fooled, or crossed.
Meet the new Boss.
Betting this guy will be our first almost baddie in that he’ll be a rude awakening for those on the team that land under his command. It will remain to be seen if he is the baddie or tied to our baddie.
I’m guessing someone on the team will ‘cross’ him early on and it won’t be pretty.
He’s going to be the veteran who is resigned to his fate and has no time for nonsense like ‘lets escape’.
He’s up there with Tess for me as one that won’t make it through the arc.
He could also be like Rosalind and when we first meet him he seems bad but we learn about Episode 7/8 he’s really on our side.
I’m going to need more to go on before I know if they are going to be like.
Parminder and only in for a few eps.
Gabe and Constance who was around for the first arc/pod…Gabe later returned.
Jason, Mallory, and John who were around for most of the season.
And how long they will be around for.
l Think its also worth noting that Deke is in the same kind of room that Coulson was and the other three are in similar costumes to what Clark was in the other day.
Tumblr media
So I’m guessing that Cloulson at the very least will be spending a fair amount of time with these four.
