Asymetrical Symphony - Part 6
Tumblr media
Universe: Arcane (LOL)
Pairing: Viktor x reader
Summary: You had been on the rooftop with Jayce and the Herald and somehow you were sent to a place where things can be different with your help
Disclaimers and Warnings: If you want me to tag you on the chapters let me know! Also leave a comment with your thoughts :D Not finished, not proofread. English isn't my 1st language. All I know about LOL is from google and all I know about Arcane is taken from the show, so inacuracies will be plenty. I have a sort of idea on how to I'm gonna go with magic and runes, so bear with me. The reader will be written as GN (going by they/them) to get everyone involved, but if you see any discrepancies let me know.
A.N.: Thank you guys for commenting and faving the story. I'm always happy to read all you guys tell me! I'm going to try and reply back. Anywho, let the rollercoaster begin.
Part 1 • Part 2 • Part 3 • Part 4 • Part 5
• ··········· • ············ •
The following week, you restarted the journey to becoming a member of Piltover's society under Esther’s wing.
The official story was: Your real mother was your aunt, and you had come back to Piltover after your fictional mother died, and because your real mother's maternal instincts were so fine-tuned, your real mother didn't mind that you or anyone else, for that matter, called you her child, and her your mother. Complicated? Yep. It would feed the gossip circles for years, and honestly, you both thrived on the drama.
Clothes were brought, space was made, introductions were done, and the process of making you an official Rainemour in the world was set in motion.
It felt like home, back to your old Topsider self, with the added extra of waking up, kicking and screaming with the feeling of fingertips on your forehead.
It had been a flurry of new faces, new places, and new customs. You met the house staff, Jaime and Oly, and the cook, Voltaire. While the two keepers lived on the lower floors, Voltaire lived somewhere other than the Cinquefoil building. He had been your mother’s friend for a few years and was the chef at several topside restaurants.
You still hadn't met the elusive Wyllah, but you had found out who she was. She was an art merchant, away on business, but most important, she was your mother’s significant other. Your mother had told you one night, almost in fear, she had found love after your father’s passing. You had blinked and shrugged. Nobody deserved to go through life alone.
Your mother’s life has been quite interesting on this side of the dimension rift. She was a writer, penning a series of fantasy books that magic lovers drank like water. She also found herself advocating for better education in Piltover. All of Piltover, especially the undercity. Esther tried to help those who wanted a chance to change their future.
It was only a matter of time until fate brought her and a certain engineer who also had a like-minded vision together. After that meeting, Esther became a patron of the Talis Lab and the Academy, helping with funding for any projects regarding the betterment of the city.
And that was the reason why you were now making your way towards a familiar lab in the Academy. A commission for her needed approval and had been delayed long enough with the rocket attack and you appearing out of thin air. Or, according to the gossip, like an illegitimate child.
“You didn’t need to come along.” She mumbled while pushing the elevator button.
“I wanted to come.” You smiled confidently at her. You wanted everyone to see you and become accustomed to you. It would be beneficial if you wanted to get into the business of saving the world.
“To check on your friends?”
You nodded. Before the Herald and the HexAngels, between Jayce becoming a councilor and the hextech showing its true colors, most of your time was divided between the music conservatory, the orchestra, Talis' labs, and home. And from all of those, home was the one you went to less and less with time. Therefore, when allowed to have even a single second of normalcy in a familiar place, you seized it.
When the elevator dinged, you walked inside with a conviction that was only masking a feeling of nervousness. Yes, you knew this place and the face on the other side of the lab door, but they didn't. You were just a stranger.
“Has it changed much?” Your mother whispered, and you grinned at her.
“Nah, a few artworks and garbage cans. Some names on the doors, but nothing else.”
“Really? Fascinating.” Her face was deep in thought.
“Stop.” You chuckled, knowing that look. She was taking mental notes. “It’s not that interesting.”
The elevator pinged and opened again. Instinctively you walked out first, knowing exactly where to go, your mother keeping up with you, scoffing.
“Well, excuse me if I find it amazing that my child jumped through time and space to save the world.”
“I didn’t save the world.” You rolled your eyes at her.
“Viktor is still alive, isn’t he?” She noted, raising her eyebrows.
As soon as she finished that sentence, a small thump of a dry explosion was heard inside the hextech lab. Like an empty milk carton was squished with a stomp.
“I’m sure he’s fine.” She added.
Another small firecracker-like explosion was heard, prompting you both to look at each other and break into a jog to reach the lab.
As expected, the door was locked, and although you had told your mom about a lot, the magic part was still something that needed some explanation. So you resorted to the least efficient way to open a closed door: banging on it.
“Viktor! Jayce?” Esther shouted. A few groans from behind the door warned you there was someone alive inside. Well, capable of moaning in pain was more accurate.
“Get the enforcers.” You mumbled to your mother; she nodded and raced around the corner.
As soon as she was out of sight, you pulled your glove off and magically unlocked the door, punching the rune you painted near the lock. The door immediately opened with the force of your hit but didn’t swing open as expected. It hit something and bounced back, slamming shut again while someone grunted in pain on the other side.
It’s funny how you could know someone from their tiniest squeak. And you knew that groan. You'd know it had it come from the other side of Piltover. Hells, you'd know it if it had been heard through the actual space and time rift.
Carefully this time you twisted the door handle, opening the door gently and peeking inside the lab.
Although the curtains were open, a dusty, thick white fog lingered in the air, making the room a shade darker. The floor was littered with tools, gears, and pencils that had fallen from their places, and a pair of goggles was lying on the floor next to a welding machine.
Viktor was sprawled on the ground, leaning back into one of his hands while the other was gently massaging his face. One of his legs was twisted uncomfortably, and the other was bent at the knee in front of him. You could see as he rubbed his face that there was blood coming from somewhere. After a while, he shook his head and looked up at the door.
When he managed to focus his gaze on you, his eyebrows knotted in confusion and then realization. With a sigh, he sat, grabbed the leg that was twisted uncomfortably, and brought it forward. You heard a metallic thud. Hextech leg. Your gaze shifted to his face; you saw the blood coming from his nose, but it didn’t seem broken. Above his eyebrow was a small curved gash, a courtesy of the goggles he probably ripped off his head.
“We do need to stop meeting like this.” he mumbled, trying to get up with the grace of a baby deer using its long limbs for the first time.
Putting your glove back on, you took a step closer and offered him a hand, which he accepted with raised eyebrows and a head tilt.
With more expertise than he was expecting, you grabbed his hand and forearm and pulled him up. Picking this man off the floor had become a skill both you and Jayce obtained a long time ago. His disability unfortunately made him an easy target for misfires. While you and Jayce would easily dodge anything coming your way, Viktor wouldn’t. Couldn’t. And since the fastest way to move him fast was pushing him out of the way, the three of you would end up on the floor, and either you or Jayce would shield Viktor from whatever was malfunctioning at the time. It wasn't your proudest idea, but it worked, and for better or worse, you all would escape relatively unscathed.
“Like what?” You asked, joining him in dusting off his clothes.
You patted his back gently, feeling the brace on his spine under his clothes. You didn't find it.
“After an explosion.” He swished the dust off his coat sleeves. The off-white coat was a tinge darker after the mishap.
“Technically, this is the first time we meet after an explosion.” You emphasized the word ‘after’ and he stopped mid-swipe, turning his face back towards you.
Shrugging, you lifted the corners of your mouth, giving him a grin that he responded to with a chuckle. You looked around the mess that was the lab at this moment and spotted his white cane and his wheeled bench.
You grabbed the cane first and gently pushed the stool so it would roll down next to him. He plopped down with a groan, using the table as leverage. You handed him the cane, and he nodded. You smile at his messy figure.
“Thank you.” He said, placing the cane between his knees and leaning into it with a heavy sigh.
“Do you need anything else?” You asked softly, stopping the urge to kneel next to him and take stock of his injuries.
“There is a first-aid kit somewhere on Jayce's desk. It’s on the...”
Before he finished the sentence, you jiggled the white box next to him, having already grabbed it when he mentioned it.
“How did…?” He asked, looking at you questioningly, and panic set in for a second.
“Oh, my dear boy!” Your mother burst in, followed by several Enforcers, and you sighed in relief.
“Is everything alright?” One of the Enforcers said, and you took a step back, leaning against the table behind where Viktor sat.
“Yes…” Viktor stated while your mother fussed over him.
One of the enforcers looked at you, and you recognized his eyes. He had been one of the men you had pushed out of your way at the front door of the Academy. You looked at the floor, trying to not provoke the man.
“Funny. You always seem to appear whenever anything goes boom, don't you?” He spat towards you.
“Not funny at all.” You replied, your tone serious, trying once more not to escalate the situation. For your sake and the people you cared about who were now looking between you and the Enforcer.
“Maybe we should call Officer Kiraman. I’m sure she would like to know that once again you’re in the vicinity of an attack.” He snarled, and you scowled at him, about to let him have it.
“You are going to call Officer Kiraman over a malfunctioning piece of equipment?” Viktor interrupted, straightening up with a wince while using his cane to get up from the stool. “Do you think she’ll get here before or after reading all the condolence letters sent to her? Or perhaps she will make time on Remembrance Day, right before the speech honoring her deceased mother."
A pin could be heard through the silence if a pin would have dropped in the lab. The main enforcer was looking at him, mouth hanging open; you and your mother looked at each other and then at a very collected, very serious Viktor. He seemed taller, with his shoulders straight, and you knew that after that tumble he was going to hurt for at least a week, but that didn't stop him from stepping up to the Enforcers. You had forgotten how much sass that man could pack in a single line.
“When is it going to be, officer?” The engineer shrugged, limping back towards a pile of sheets that had flown back. “I need to tidy up before she gets here.”
It took the group of Enforcers three seconds to clear out after that, and a collective sigh was heard from the three of you.
“You’d think being knocked around would make their synapses work faster.” Viktor waved a hand at them, still picking up papers, stopping midway to look at you, like he had just realized you were there. “Not that I agree with knocking around enforcers…or that you knocked around enforcers… I’m just saying…”
He was flustered, talking with his free hand while his eyes looked around the room. You chuckled, and he stopped when he heard you.
“You’re just saying…?” You teased, rolling your hand for him to keep going.
“Nothing of importance, I suppose.” He turned back to the table.
“I was hoping you could show me the reader.” Esther announced, grabbing a few nuts and bolts and placing them next to Viktor. “But I imagine it's not functioning.”
Viktor turned to her, realizing finally why you were both there. He smiled sheepishly and scratched the back of his neck.
“Well, yes and no.” He said, tilting his head from side to side. “The explosion wasn’t it, but it was a component that I was trying to recreate to use in another experiment.”
“And now both are fried.” You answered by crossing your arms.
“Well…yes. But if you give me a few hours, I can make it work, at least for the reader. The other thing will wait, I guess…” he said quickly. “Better yet, give me a few minutes so I can get it, and I can at least show you what I have for now.”
“It's quite alright, dear. Take your time. We can just come back another time.” Esther said, and part of you felt disappointed.
Your second home was right here.
“That would hardly be fair. You’ve made it here. Give me a few minutes, an hour tops.” He was limping around waving his hand and cane.
“I suppose I do need to speak with Councilor Salo.” Your mother shrugged nonchalantly. “Do you want to—”
“No.” You cut her off. “Not really. You go ahead. I’ll get reacquainted with the Academy.”
“Reacquainted?” Viktor inquired, looking towards you.
“Last time I was here, I didn’t exactly take the scenic route.” You covered your mistake with an easy joke, and he chuckled at it.
• ············ •
You managed to walk around the Academy undisturbed. It was weird to walk around the familiar corridors, passing by people you knew and fighting the urge to say hello and strike up a conversation. It was awfully lonely, seeing everyone going about their lives, never knowing about you.
Although it saddened you, you understood that it wasn’t because you weren’t needed in their lives but because fate found a way to replace you. Maybe you hadn’t saved Sky from falling down the stairs in this universe, because maybe her classroom was on the same floor she was at.
As you wandered, you found yourself in a corridor with very recognizable double doors. The Council Chamber was guarded by several guards, and you felt the morbid curiosity to see if the room was the same as it was in your time.
As you searched your brain for a way to bypass the guards, a familiar whispering in your ear. The rune from the elevator flashed behind your eyes. The one you hadn’t managed to make work. You took your gloves off again and drew the symbol in a railing, disguising it as an absent movement as you looked down to the courtyard. You let it go, and nothing happened for a couple of seconds.
And then the groaning of metal grinding against another surface filled your ears. Your eyes turned upwards as you saw the metal spike that held the Academy’s banner to the stone ceiling give way and slip. The heavy banner made a swoosh noise as it fell, and your eyes widened.
You saw the Enforcers run towards the elevator and the stairs. You turned your back to them and waited until their hurried footsteps had softened.
Quickly you made your way to the chamber through the door you had burst open. A new door had been placed and locked, but you unlocked it with three swipes of your fingers.
The chamber room was as spacious as you remembered, the hole in the dome a grim reminder that those who sat in this room were as vulnerable as everyone else in the city. You remembered Viktor’s diagram, looking around at the empty and cracked chairs. Most of the smaller debris had been cleaned off, leaving only the big and medium chunks. The ones that couldn't just be carried off by crewmen. The sun shone high and bright in the clear sky, illuminating the whole room, the long pieces of the damaged dome casting a shadow on the floor.
You touched parts of the smooth stone that were still intact and walked toward the edge of the room, feeling the wind on your face. It had been an awakening to these people, but not the one that Piltover needed. This whole region forgot how hard it is to break a rope and how easy it is to break a strand. Only in the end did they figure out that the many are more powerful than the few. That blood, once spilt, is equally red whether it is from Zaun or Topside.
Closing your eyes, you stood for a moment, somewhat grieving what had been the beginning of the end.
(Nemo - The Code)
Welcome to the show. Let everybody know I’m done playing the game. I’ll break out of the chains.
Until the wind started whispering in your ear and your eyes shot open. What looked to be blue dust started to float like specks of dust toward the middle of the room, and you followed the flow. There was nothing there. But there could be.
You better buckle up; I'll pour another cup. This is my bohème, so drink it up, my friend.
Your hand moved unconsciously, drawing the rune in the air like it was second nature. You pushed it out with a flick of your hand. Like in the graveyard, it divided itself into several wisps of light and quickly moved toward parts of the broken table and chairs. A familiar rune appeared, but so did many others. Some are more complicated, others just little flicks of light. Shining bright in the middle of the rubble or being illuminated by sunlight.
I went to hell and back. To find myself on track, I broke the code.
You walked towards what had been the middle of the cog-like shape and watched as the wisps danced around. Looking around, you noticed the runes were surrounding you, pulsating like a heartbeat; you noticed your hand doing the same, in rhythm with the wisps. You saw a small piece of rubble that had been missing by the cleaning crew and took a deep breath.
“Here goes nothing.”
Let me tell you a tale about life, 'Bout the good and the bad; better hold on tight.
Starting with the rune in front of you, you carved it on the floor, the piece of rubble in your hand serving as a makeshift chalk. You kept carving the runes on the floor in front of where they appeared in the air. The world around you faded, and your vision became focused.
See the rune, and trace the rune on the floor.
Let me taste the lows and highs; let me feel that burning fright.
It was automatic; you didn’t think or even study the rune. At some point, you felt like it was the rune commanding you to write, rather than your desire to write them. And even though it was akin to someone using your arm and hand to do this, it never felt like you couldn’t stop.
 It was almost cathartic.
Somewhere between the O's and ones, that's where I found my kingdom come.
When you found yourself at the beginning of the circle of runes, you stopped and took a step back. The wisps had disappeared, but you could see a faint light throbbing under the scratched runes.
It looked so unbelievably perfect for something that you had scratched on the floor with a piece of cement. Every space between runes was precise, and the little ticks and dots were perfectly balanced.
With that amount of rigor, it was easy to see something was missing, a single wisp in the spot where the cog table opened. Familiar strokes. Ones you’ve been looking at ever since you woke up in the hospital.
You looked at your palm, the rune there shining so bright it almost burned. Taking a few steps towards the space, you shook your hand in the air and slammed it into the slot.
My heart beats like a drum.
The whole room shook, and for a second you got scared, but when the runes started ungluing themselves off the ground and quickly zapping around different parts of the table, you became too fascinated with the show to care.
If the building fell, you don’t think you’d even notice.
Every piece of wreckage, big or small, started floating above you, aided by strands of magic that pushed and pulled and moved different pieces toward different places. Their rightful places. Once a piece found its match, it was welded together by a flash of blue light, leaving them complete with a trace of metallic blue where the crack had been.
I went to hell and back. To find myself on track, I broke the code.
You noticed the same thing happening in the chairs, and by the end of the magic show, the table and the chairs were floating around you. Slowly drifting and turning into their right position. Until they wafted back down to the floor with an incredible low thud.
It was almost overwhelming once it was all over how the silence settled around you. The runes on the floor disappeared, your hand stopped glowing, and the table was complete, whole, pieced together by little blue veins. The only thing you heard was the birds outside, the wind through the damaged dome, your heavy breathing, and the clunk of a metal cane hitting the floor.
Your neck snapped at the sound, and you saw a wide-eyed Viktor standing in front of the side door you had entered.
“Your… your mother is… She’s looking for you.” He stuttered.

Red/Black Goth Moodboard
Tumblr media
I made myself a moodboard for the first time. I've been seeing them all over Tumblr, Instagram, and various roleplay communities, so I wanted to try creating one based off of me, my blog, and my interests.
Some images are from Canva itself, while pictures from tumblr will be credited below. The center picture is a picrew I customized, and it is what I use to represent my persona.
SYMBOLISM - (For the Nerds Who Care)
1st Picture: A corvid flying in the night sky.
Corvids are my favorite bird family!
2nd Picture: An image found here, taken from "What Is Goth?" by Aurelio Voltaire.
I love the mixed media usage, it perfectly represents the creativity of this community.
3rd Picture: An advertisement for The Cure's Dream Tour.
The Cure was one of my introductions to goth music, the same as many of you!
4th Picture: London After Midnight's Album "Your Best Nightmare."
This remains one of my most favorite and memorable gothic rock albums of all time. I also take heavy inspiration from Sean Brennan's outstanding fashion.
5th Picture: A text segment from "What Is Goth?"
I have an affinity for reading, writing, and analyzing literature. I especially enjoy works and historic articles discussing the subculture. It's an obscure interest of mine: one that I write about a lot on this blog.
6th Picture: What I believe to be a photograph of an old, underground railway with a door at its end.
A symbol to remind me that there's "always a light at the end of the tunnel."
Note: The 6th image I've included is pulled from Canva's library. Now that I'm looking at it, it looks a little artifacty and slightly odd. I'm really not sure whether this image is real or AI. If somebody could take a little time out of their day to determine its authenticity, I'd much appreciate it. If it's AI, I'll remake my moodboard and take this post down.
None of you are obligated to do this. It makes me so happy just to have people look at what I make and write. Your support is valued. Thank you for honoring creativity, respecting this platform, and for building such a wonderful community!

hello! what type of music is played at the raves you go to?
Depends on the event, but my favorite ones would fall under industrial techno! It’s usually more noisy and weird and dark and experimental while still being super dancey. The guys who run my favorite rave here (who are also DJs) have their own band, Lower Tar, that captures some of the vibe and sound really well:
My favorite live hardware set I think I ever saw was Beau Wanzer. His recorded music isn’t as fast and dancey as the live set he did but I think it still captures what I mean when I talk about how weird the music gets (and it’s still really good, just picture this but like a way faster BPM LOL):
It’s all really really cool, especially to hear loud in these warehouses filled with smog and balloons. :) It feels like in some ways it captures some of the experimental spirit of music like Throbbing Gristle, Cabaret Voltaire, Einstürzende Neubauten, etc better than maybe any other subculture I’ve engaged with. It just exudes coolness.
The Los Angeles Underground Rave Association will also puts out EPs with collaborators you can explore here. They actually just put out a new one in June!

i wonder what music artists they would listen to!
i know DAMN well that Sorcha would listen to Lana del ray, Saorise would listen to chapell roan and i think that Rilla would listen to Laufey
Tumblr media
GOODNESS, this took a while. Both Baji and I are ardent music lovers and aficionados, so music is veryimportant to us and to this story and these characters. So I wanted to make sure I got everything in order before answering these asks!
Sorcha loves jazz and music that’s heavily influenced by soul and movement, so she loves hip-hop, pop soul, R&B, club music - stuff that’s sexy and feminine and full of confidence, like Janelle Monae, Rihanna, Beyoncé, HER, Doja Cat, Billie Eilish.
She’s absolutely a Lana Del Rey fan, also loves Amy Winehouse, Paloma Faith, Clairy Browne, April Smith and the Great Picture Show, Laura Mvula. For more old school stuff she goes for Irma Thomas, Nina Simone, Peggy Lee, Julie London.
Rilla loves fun energetic pop that she can dance to but also makes her feel free to - Kesha (the Rainbow album was DEEPLY important to her), Doja Cat, Dimie Cat, Sabrina Carpenter, Chapelle Roan, Olivia Rodrigo, Brittany Spears. She loves Laufey for a softer, romantic vibe, and even though she doesn’t listen to a ton of alternative she LOVES Molotov Jukebox.
Also, girl ADORES Dolly Parton. She’s dressed up as her for Halloween, loves her endlessly. She got into Kacey Musgraves too, but Dolly has her heart. She likes some of Taylor Swift’s stuff, but she’s definitely not a die hard Swiftie.
Lorcan unironically adores Kesha, very happy to jam with Rilla whenever their girlie’s music is on. In general he loves music that would be perfect for a barroom brawl - Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, IDLES. Loves rock in general, especially Def Leppard and AC/DC, the Clash and the Black Keys. Likes Gaelic Storm and the Beatles for softer moods.
Brig listens to a lot of metal and punk and rock music - she and Lorcan would definitely jam to AC/DC and the Black Keys. Also loves blues music, definitely a fan of Johnny Cash. Also likes Gin Wigmore a lot.
Luella loves soft indie core songs and groups - the Wailin’ Jennys, the Oh Hellos, the Crane Wives, the Jane Austen Argument, the Hush Sound, Brandi Carlisle, Cat Power, Paris Paloma. She and Rilla both love Laufey. She listens to Florence + the Machine and P!nk when she wants to feel empowered.
Locke is also into soft indie, lots of underground bands no one has ever heard of but have very intense poetic lyrics - Hozier, the National, Cigarettes After Sex, Florence + the Machine, Nicole Dollanganger, the Oh Hellos. There’s a lot of overlap between him and Lu, actually! He also loves viola music, he plays it and it’s a very healing, therapeutic passion of his.
Regal…whoo boy, his taste in music covers such a wide and diverse spectrum. He loves operas and classic musicals, very much a devotee to classical music by artists like Debussy and Puccini and Bizet. One of his absolute favorite songs is “Danse Macabre”…
He’s a virtuoso with the piano and has described himself as his own favorite musician.
But he does like some more modern music, he’s just VERY snobby about what he wants to listen to. Marina and the Diamonds (“Bubblegum Bitch” is a favorite), Queen (he is very fond of Freddy), Voltaire, Fish in a Birdcage, the Real Tuesday Weld are some examples.
Bogdan is even more a snob than Regal, and stays away from most modern music. He’d much rather focus on composing his own music than polluting his ears with the dreck that passes for songs nowadays. Sorcha has her work cut out with him, but she’s more than up to the task…
Casimir, sadly, probably doesn’t listen to a lot of music because of his injury - it’s too much stimulation and he suffers from horrible headaches to begin with. Not all music does it, but too much stress and sounds would very likely trigger an episode. It’s incredibly tragic because music is such an important and treasured facet of his and Bogdan’s culture…

My favorite Goth sub-sub-cultures and genres
Goth has evolved a lot from the fans of genre specific music of the 70s to 1990s. It still has its roots in the music and heavily with a particular aesthetic.
I'm an old school but not quite "elder Goth" yet (I'm forty-two). And I'm a cross between Neo-Victorian Goth and Halloweeen Aesthetic Goth. I'll explain both of those as best I can.
A Neo-Victorian is a Goth who likes Nostalgia, particularly things that resemble the look and feel of late nineteenth century England and New England (North East US). Many Neo Victorian Goths wear nineteenth century fashion. I, myself, love nineteenth century style Goth attire but I prefer male Neo Victorian Fashion to womanly. Neo Victorians also tend to love antiques and antique reproductions. One of the earliest examples of a Neo Victorian Goth look can be found in Goths of 1992 trying to emulate Gary Oldman's Dracula in London look. For music most Neo Victorians tend to favor people like Aurelio Voltaire, certain scores by Danny Elfman, Gothic music that incorporates old fashioned instruments and especially the use of Violins, piano, and sometimes even a theremin. The music is more Gothic than Goth though there is Goth that fits the aesthetic. There's a romanticism to it. And a lack of cynicism that can be found in some other branches of Goth. ___________________________ Halloween Aesthetic Goth Halloween Aesthetic Goth is a more playful side of Goth culture that embraces a self-aware cheesiness while also unashamedly loving all the tropes and cliches we associate with the holiday. It a respectful love of things other people tend to only enjoy seasonally. These are the sort of Goths who leave Halloween related items out all year or collect Halloween related things and do home decoration shopping during the Halloween season and in Halloween stores or Halloween sections of stores.
The music connected with this branch of Goth also entails artists like Aurelio Voltaire but also delves into the Goth adjacent. Pretty much anything that plays on Halloween radio dot net. Novelty songs and any music about Gothic topics or set a Gothic mood. This can entail Halloween party music that you wouldn't associate with Goth culture though Bauhaus could fit in here too but also things as old (or older) than Bobby "Boris" Pickett's Monster Mash, and as recent as Creepy Crawlies by Scary Bitches.

Kaz, 2015.
When Hanukkah started, I posted a video from Jewish rapper A. To The D. It was when Kaz, my French-Jewish ginger art-school friend, took note and thanked me in return by posting The Rolling Stone’s “Beast Of Burden” with my name on it.
“Give me some recommendations. You always had great taste in music!” said Kaz. She, like the other girl in the previous post, was one of the very few of the opposite sex I have met who were very high on the musical taste food chain. We’re both elitist, eccentrist, and trendy. We follow magazines, street culture, design, and everything else awesome.
So when she took me to task, I had to deliver. I was happy to do so, especially for a ginger. I told her to give me a few and within the next day I sent her a list of recommendations. Usually in the past I traded mixtapes, CD’s, and this decade MP3’s, so by going a step back and merely giving someone a list would be the most efficient way and the least time-consuming than sending everything over. It was even more personal than her checking out what I have done on my Ω shows and Ω+ because it was direct contact.
I told her that by giving her a lot of these recommendations, I knew I risked giving more of myself away, yet it was the only way to get the point across. I also told her to take what she could from this. She may not resonate with some of what I had to offer, but if she took anything for personal use or inspiration and ideas for her works, then I did my job.
**********
Here’s was a list of what I thought she should go with:
Atari Teenage Riot. Been a fan of theirs since the Nineties. She once told me that her brother was a massive Skrillex fan. I told her to have him listen to 1995 and especially Burn Berlin Burn!because that was my Skrillex back then. Christoph De Babalon’s If You’re Into It… and Alec Empire’s Golden Foretaste Of Heaven and Shivers.
All French artists I ever listened to: Stereolab’s “Ping Pong” and “Miss Modular”, Air “Sexy Boy”, Nineties Daft Punk, Stereo Total’s “Lunatique”, “Bambi” and “Patty Hearst”, and anything Costes. (See what I did there?)
Hipster stuff I got my hands on including AIDS Wolf, Xiu Xiu, XRay Eyeballs’ Splendid Squalor, Carbonas, Parquet Courts, and Cold Cave “Confetti”.
Alternative and generational defaults: Sonic Youth Daydream Nation, Made In USA, Beastie Boys, Beck pre-Midnite Vultures, Swervedriver “You Find It Everywhere”.
Noise, yelling, and screaming courtesy of Pharmakon and Consumer Electronics’ Estuary English and “Murder Your Masters”. I also usually think about the last four Whitehouse records and Prurient’s Bermuda Drain as well.
Hip-hop in CX Kidtronik, SpaceGhostpurpp’s “Mystical Maze”, Hieroglyphics’ 3rd Eye Vision, Company Flow’s Funcrusher Plus, Cage’s For Your Box, Arsonists, Serengeti, Funkdoobiest, and Mantronix for the old-school win.
Suicide’s first record (1977). I ordered her to listen to it and consider where and when that first record happened. Also, I directed her to Eighties Cabaret Voltaire and Einsturzende Neubauten.
Of course, punk: Sex Pistols, Public Image Ltd.’s Album, The Buzzcocks, The Avengers, The Professionals (because Steve Jones). The Dead Boys’ “Sonic Reducer”, Captain Sensible & The Damned’s “Jet Boy Jet Girl”, The Cigarettes’ “You Were So Young”, Iceage, The Brainbombs, and The Fall’s Totale’s Turns.
The Italians Do It Better label. The L.I.E.S. label, too.
And, some wild cards because she’s all about the travel: Ninos Du Brasil (Brazil), Konono no. 1 (Zaire / Congo), Les Ralizes Denudes (Japan), Omar Souleyman (Syria).
Things I discovered and listened to in 2013 because she didn’t ask me last year: Beach Fossils’ “Youth”, Boards Of Canada Tomorrow’s Harvest, Crash Course In Science “Cardboard Lamb”, Disclosure “When A Fire Starts To Burn”, Farah “Gay Boy”, S.M. Nurse, Gold Panda “You”, IO Echo “Carnation”, Lauro Nyro “Buy And Sell” (something something cocaine something cocaine), Savages “Flying To Berlin”, and Toll “Radio Moscow”.
And finally, things I discovered and listened to in 2014 just in case she missed it: The Bug’s Angels & Devils, Atari Teenage Riot’s Reset, Function & Vatican Shadow’s Games Have Rules, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti “Round And Round” “Kinski Assassin” “Fright Night (Nevermore)”, Perfect Pussy, Ron Morelli, End Of A Year / Self-Defense Family, Whirr, Night School, Purling Hiss, DIIV “Wait”, Grimes, XXYYXX s/t, Mono/Poly “Ra Rise” “Alpha & Omega”, Leapling “Seventeen”, L.I.E.S. presents Music For Shut-Ins, Neon Indian, Lee Ranaldo “Hammer Blows”, Panda Riot, Ringo Deathstarr, Sleaford Mods (she hates Brits but these two curse every other word like she does, so it’s funny), Daedelus, Small Black’s Moon Killer Mixtape, Suicideyear, Elite Gymnastics, Nite Jewel “Lover”, Arca “Thievery”, BNLX, Clark “Herr Bar”, Cloudface, Naomi Punk, and 18+.
**********
Yes, it was a lot for her to digest. I gave her as much as possible and kept it in the ‘realm of Kaz’. A day later, she did thank me for the list. Now, only time will tell what she’ll take out of this. For those reading this, be more than welcome to take what you can as well.

Uhh can I get a uhhh
Idia x lilia headcanons? Both nsfw and sfw?
Heheheheh YEEEEESSSSS!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First off, this is somehow their songs
The last song he wrote in honor of his feelings for Idia and sung it during a Light Music Club concert and it quickly became a fan favorite
I swear if Chapter 7 don't show these two realizing they are each other gamer buddies and Idia realize Lilia's his gamer crush than I will be pissed
Lilia braids Idia's hair and at times Idia would forget and people would comment on it and he'd freak out lol
Ortho is beyond eager to have Lilia over and is sparky happy to know his big brother has a friend now
Ortho didn't really pick up Idia had a crush until he finally took notice the odd pattern of seeing the introvert go to classes and club activities in a happy cheer or hum, his gaming streams are more energetic especially if teamed up with Lilia (pre-dating but post reveal), and it didn't hit him until he looked at his music playlist to find these as his repeat songs;
Diasmonia took fast notice of Lilia's change of pace when he began to be more spacy when doing chores or homework, twiddling his pen as he hums softly, no one ever seen him like this so no one assumed he had a crush until they saw him literally run just to say "hi" to Idia before going back to what he's doing
Sometimes when they game in the same room they sit beside each other or one of them is practically on the other's lap or they would have one lay on his stomach and the other lay on their stomach on top
Cater: Why are you two holding hands? Lilia: Studies show holding hands relive stress Cater: Oooh! I thought you two were dating or something Lilia: Oh we are, Idia's also just stressed
Lots of double dates with Azul and whoever he's dating in this AU (maybe Malleus but tempted to make Malleus and Rollo a thing in this AU but if we make it trio sorry Rollo-) and the rest of LMC, sometimes group date hangouts
Idia finds a lot of typical romance stuff gross and "why are they making out in public?? Gross" and they both make fun of the couples they see silently and then make out whenever's a game's paused
super affectionate "Oh I will kill you you little dumbass"
Idia full heartly ate something Lilia made to be a supportive bf and Lilia actually got scared for a moment Now onto the NSFW Headcanons!
Tumblr media
So he sang UnHoly during a concert Idia was attending to be a support bf to support his hot bad ass bf and Lilia let rip on his ultra flirty bratty self on stage while also adding the sexy dom side he has, swaying his hips during the song and when he came to the rap he got into Idia's bubble and did a little teasing by sitting just above his lap and acting like he's about to kiss him before Idia went red and pink when the vampire disappeared and he remembered he's in public
I headcanon this for every Idia shit but the man would refuse to do it in his dorm unless Ortho's out of the room for more than a few minutes or else he'll have no time to clean up the entire evidence of sex
So often times they meet up someplace or rent a room from Azul, sometimes even Kalim is down to led a spare room for the two if they're respectful
Sebek became sadly aware of why Lilia invites Idia sometimes when it's nearing lights out when one night he left the bathroom dead in the night and walked pass Lilia's room and through the door he heard soft bed creeks and even softer pants and it didn't hit him for a while and when he realizes what's happening he ran off fast and glared at Idia all the next day
I could say they're a switch couple but Lilia's more dom than anything so even when he's getting the D he's still in control of every little thing so yeah-
They both have a kink of hair pulling
Cock warming while gaming is a favorite of them
A few times they gave each other head under the desks
Degrading and praise is a usual dirty talk of these two with the color system in hand
One time Idia was streaming and Lilia was in the room and he was forced to watch his boyfriend strip tease him while he's trying to focus on the game and he quickly went on a safe spot and ended the stream after Lilia began to play with himself and doing a little show/tossing his undies at his feet and they fucked
They resenate to this song and you know it and why
Lilia would randomly text or talk to Idia in public in his type of sexy voice or sometimes do Idia's special nickname just to see Idia's reaction
Both watched porn together and jerked it together

7. three songs you didn’t expect to like but eventually loved
one i can name straight outta the bat is Goodbye To A World by Porter Robinson, which is a song i heard in a game once and it intrigued me, so when i looked it up on youtube i saw that i already half-watched it at some point. i have no memory of it, and i assume i didn't like it back then, but i definitely do now
when i first listened to Voltaire's newest album, I really didn't vibe with Kill The Beast because it played after a song i loved but it greatly clashed with its mood so i felt it 'ruined' the mood. eventually though, it really grew on me and it's definitely near my top picks from the album.
for the last one, i think i'll go with a recent addition to my music library, Connie Converse, who's music style is not something i generally holds my attention very well, but who's work surprisingly captivated me. it's just all her music in general, but let's go with Talking Like You since it seems to especially embody this entire vibe

july 2023 favorites
it has been a really really r e a l l y weird month for my music listening lol
i’ve been listening to pink floyd albums on repeat for reasons hard to explain??  (dark side of the moon and wish you were here really) which i haven’t done since like...junior year of high school
especially
money (also...the demo which is fascinating...it’s always interesting to think that songs exist in drafts as well and to learn how they got from start to finish especially when the demo is so different from the final version)
shine on you crazy diamond
comfortably numb (i went to school for the kids of rich former hippies and “the child is grown, the dream is gone” was on everyone’s yearbook pages lol...i feel like i didn’t Understand this song in high school the way i do now tho)
and young lust
es fugt sich again but more toward the beginning of the month
ramble on - led zeppelin
wouldn’t it be nice - the beach boys (confession: never liked this song because of that stupid slowdown at the end until like...last month when it gave me certain franko and jamie jamie jamie Vibes for some reason don’t @ me!)
pyretta blaze - type o negative
sensoria - cabaret voltaire (my fav music video...lol)
blooming conductor medley - the string sisters
idk what else there was probably something
oh! i just heard this one yesterday: insomiac - memo boy/chakra efendi (a real throwback sound lol)

Note
With the music asks, I'd like to ask prompts: 1, 3, 11, 19, 23, 26, and 30!
1:A song you like with a color in the title
3:A song that reminds you of summertime
11:A song that you never get tired of
19:A song that makes you think about life
23:A song that you think everybody should listen to
26:A song that makes you want to fall in love
30:A song that reminds you of yourself
1: It's All Over Now, Baby Blue by Bob Dylan, but specifically this version. I haven't formally posted my Haven music playlists anywhere (I will do that.... soon......) but this is one of the first songs on the arc 1 playlist. You can think of it as Anathema and C!Moth's meetcute song : P
3: The Beast of Pirate's Bay by Voltaire. A girl I went to summer camp with... gosh, at least a decade ago now--taught it to all of us since we didn't have access to music that wasn't us singing. I also learned about Homestuck and bisexuality from her, so, you know, pretty much all the good parts of my life I found originally through meeting her that summer. Wiki, if you're still out there, thank you.
11: I could be wrong, because I haven't known it that long, but I think I'm going to go with Blacksoul by Onya. I could say more about it but honestly just listen to it. It's beautiful.
19: God Fearing, Sea Faring Man by The Accidentals. I listened to the album this is from a lot back when I first stumbled onto it, and while I think the band has now largely disavowed it it remains very deep in my heart. This specific song has stuck with me especially, I think because there's a kind of... the word that's coming to mind is grace, it feels like there's a kind of grace to this song. It feels like a moment of clarity. If I had to claim the meaning of life was buried in any one song, I would pick this one.
23: I'm going to cheat here and say an artist, because so far as I know they only ever released a handful of songs, most or all of which I try to link people to every so often because they're not otherwise available. I'm talking about superedge, who was a fanmusician back in 2015 or so. I hope they're still creating somewhere, but they've left behind some of my favorite songs in the world and I'm grateful that I happened to find them when I did.
26: Ben Caplan's cover of Lovers' Waltz by A. A. Bondy. The original is also solid but something about Ben Caplan's version really particularly speaks to me. I think according to the lyrics this song is actually about dying together? Which makes this a weird choice I guess but it feels in a way comforting, and I think fits the prompt better, because I have lots of people I love! I don't need a generic love song! But this song feels deeper and more permanent, in a way that's at least as appealing as it is scary.
30: You know, I have a whole collection of books that are me; you'd think I'd have a collection of songs that are me. But I don't. I think I have a tendency to shift songs from me to my (or others') characters, or to strongly associate songs with the circumstances under which I first listened to them. I've been combing through my library trying to think of anything and I could make some cases but most of them are weak. So I'm going somewhere very personal and emotional, and I trust you'll understand.
When I was 17, I was in a really bad place. It was, I think, the worst year of my life bar none. I'll spare you the details, but one day after a really intense couple of weeks, I played nice until I was given back my ipod. The moment it was in my hands, I grabbed my bike and fled to the library. I cried the whole way there, and I listened to this song, The Bust from The New Albion Radio Hour by Paul Shapera. This wasn't the song I came to identify with at the time--that would be The Wasteland, from the same album--but to this day, I can't listen to it without remembering that scared teenager.

Name: Eri Lorewright, you can refer to me as either! (or Eeri, like Eerie, Lol)
Star Sign: Cancer ♋
Height: 5' 7
Middle name: [REDACTED] cause I’m uncomfy revealing it as it’s really gendered, and I’d like to be a non-binary enigma.
Put your itunes/spotify/youtube on shuffle. What are the first 6 songs that popped up?
This is Home - Cavetown
Lonely Dance- Set it Off
Everything at Once - Lenka
Bubblegum Bitch - Marinana & the Diamonds
Poison Within from Headless
Kill the Beast by Aurelio Voltaire
Ever had a poem or song written about you: Not that I am aware
When was the last time you played air guitar: Prolly a week, two weeks ago. And most definitely to Pick up the Pace by The Play Plays
Who is your celebrity crush?: Less of a crush, more gender envy for Scott Shpeley. He is the singer in the Play Plays and plays Edgar Allan in Catalyst’s musical Nevermore
What’s a sound you hate; sound you love?: Velcro, the hate the ripping sound. It makes my spin itchy. I love the sound of keys hitting against one another
Do you believe in ghosts?: Yes, though I don’t feel like I have any legit experiences. Others that I know have some stories. Other than that though I think building I work in is haunted. I repeatedly have the feeling someone was walked into the room while my back’s to the door, but when I look, no one is there.
How about aliens: Yeah, I figure if we can exist on our planet, why can’t other life exist on another planet?
Do you drive?: Yes, and once I was even licensed to drive a forklift!
If so have you ever crashed: Thankfully not.
What was the last book you read?: The Drowning Girls, it’s actually a play though by Beth Graham and Daniela Vlaskalic
Do you like the smell of gasoline: Eeh... sorta?
What was the last movie you saw?: 7 Women and a Murder
What’s the worst injury you’ve ever had?: I don’t know. Mostly it’s all minor stupid things. Like once I crushed a cone incense with my thumb only to find it had just burned out and severely burn my finger. I was trying to declog the dermal we use at work to 3-hole punch paper when it slipped and I punched a perfect circle into my index and thumb.
Do you have any obsessions right now?: Yes, It’s the Nevermore musical. I Love EVERYTHING ABOUT IT! I cannot rationally explain it. but the costumes and props being made primary out of masking tape, sticks, and landscaping fabric give Catalyst’s production such a unique and darkly quirky feel. It’s a part fact, part fiction telling of Edgar Allan Poe’s life birth to death, using lines and themes from his own stories and poems as the lyrics and lines. Which as a life time Poe fan myself is a fun little easter egg hunt to identify what is being referenced. The music is SO powerful, it just rattles round in my head all the time now, especially Dream within a Dream.  The setup and narrative style of the show had once of the best pay off I could have imagined; no spoilers but it was great. The cast is FANTASTIC! I love Scott Shpeley and I want to be his version of Poe, because honestly Nevermore’s Poe is just Goth boy Heath and I love that. But also I love Beth Graham, who yes wrote the play the Drowning Girls, but she is super funny and a great character actor. She plays three roles in Nevermore, including Fanny Allan, who I love, best mom. But Beth Graham does a great job of giving all three of her characters distinct voices. Love love love. The amount of love and creativity that has gone into this show is incredible. And I know that my passion and love for this show is crossing the line into unhinged, but E. A. Poe said it best, “I was never really insane except upon occasions when my heart was touched.”
