but fr outside of my contracted madness i absolutely refuse to give joe alwyn gold rush like how is that song at all related to their relationship the lyrics clearly spell out a relationship that either never existed or only existed in implication and fantasies and maybe-maybe nots and its so bitter and yet desperately soft in the bridge where it almost projects a sense of envy, of wanting to be them as much as you want them. It continues an interesting oft ignored lyrical trend of taylor wanting just as much to be her lover as to have them, envying their easy charisma (you were flush with the currency of cool/i was always turning out my pockets) or quiet dignity (your integrity makes me seem small) dating back to her earliest songs (the kind of flawless i wish i could be). Theres a projected self hatred and yearning to be better that twists itself into both romantic and sexual lust for her partners thats so fascinating and speaks to how all of her songs regardless of who theyre about are also an act of self reflection on who she is and who she wishes to be.

i have done...an absolute deep dive into blues and folk music tonight. it was 100% one of those blink and three hours have passed type of deals. worth it though.
#be warned if you go into the tags i will explain how this all came up. educational but long!#so it started with two questions. mostly because i live in the ozarks i wanted to know and secondly i like music if you haven't caught on#(btw i am so giving you guys the quick and easy version if you are reading this at all)#anyway. the first question was 'why does the ozarks have such a country influence but also bluegrass but also blues but also folk but al-'#because while i grew up in stl i am now like. living living in the ozarks right? right. and i for sure can see how we are the like...#the little sibling of the appalachian mountains. and i thought it was just cause aw cute mini mountains (highlands people)#but instead its cause there were settlers from appalachia! which makes a ton of sense now seeing influences and culture etc etc#so we cleared up that. we know why the ozarks is the way it is (or at least part of it)#btw anyone who says branson is a “true reflection” of the ozarks is out of their damn minds.#that shit is tourist central and just drives me up the wall. they are playing a parody of themselves is the best way to describe it#caricature maybe??? point is. “h'yuck h'yuck we're the country jubilee!” is not uhhhh ozarks and never was?#like it was but they took it a step further. so. anyway#can you tell i'm fixated on this right now? moving on! question 2 was quite literally 'what genre is this song'#it's 'fault line' by black rebel motorcycle club (which i highly suggest everyone listen to)#but i was like hmmm very bluesy harmonica but just fingerpicking guitar so that's more folksy#so! i went on a deep dive of what technically considers blues blues and what folk is. and guess what! the ozarks play into this too#because! the thing is that the ozarks is weird. st louis is technically not in the ozarks but on the outskirts. and stl is influenced by...#the mississippi delta! therefore blues music which led to rock and roll etc#(that's a whole other tangent for another day on stl and blues and rock and roll)#but anyway it makes sense that once you have folks from stl area coming down to the ozarks then you also have that combo of...#mississippi delta and appalachia music. so then we go back to “fault line” right?#i have declared it folk mostly because it definitely doesn't follow traditional blues progression or call and response.#so anyway. deep dive tonight was basically what is this song's genre and how does that wrap into where i live!#which also. brmc is like...usually listed as a “rock” band from san francisco which hey! awesome.#but like. from the songs i've heard and especially causing me to do this deep dive...they do not strike me as a californian band#music is cool! regions are cool! culture is cool! i just like to see how it's all spread out ya know?#if you've read this far gold star! i hope you've learned something tonight from reading the ramblings of a fixated person#i'm rambling again aren't i

lil hiatus away
#trump winning hit hard#harder than I thought because I didn’t think he’d win#we all met up the next day and had depression strolls#lots of vents and talks and anger#window shopped and actually shopped#looked at expensive guitars and little hamsters find fun in every place we go#we all made food with/for my niece and talked at my table for hours#played among us like old times till 1 am#got emotionally rejuvenated by the ocean#had plans with a friend that fell through so another time maybe or not idc anymore hahah she’s persistent though#I’m kinda over everything!#this 4:30 sunset always gets me bad for a while#on top of heavy world changes too like do that shit in summer#my dads friend Chris is visiting and that always makes me happy#I heard them cracking up watching South Park in his room last night was the cutest shit#reminded me of old times I miss living in Boston that whole era#wish we could have a redo#or even when he lived here with us after#maybe he'll move back this way someday#or go up that way since won’t ever be able to afford a house where I wanna live#or get out of the country all together#hiatus away was nice especially from Instagram and fb they're horrible places right now#unfollowing and unfriending everyone rn idc who u are#and honestly idky I still even have tumblr now I ask myself that a lot#more and more lately#have a good day#and take care of yourselves

went roller skating with a friend tonight
it taught me that oh no i don't like roller skating at all
#ashton is talking#the place just sucked in general though#it was WAY too packed in there to move comfortably#especially for someone like me who can barely skate#and the actual rink had such a weird policy#where the faster experienced skaters stayed on the outside circle#and the slower inexperienced skaters stayed on the inside#so if you can barely skate good fucking luck i guess you gotta get past speeding adults first#but i genuinely could not balance on the rink it was panic inducing i hated it#thankfully it wasn't ruined completely cuz we went poking around the nearby mall before#and went poking around a nearby barnes and noble and a guitar hero#so the 1hr 30min of shitty skating was worth it :3#we might go back there but i'm staying off the skates

#i knew nothing about look back all i knew was that it was by fujimoto and made people cry#and i love things that will make me cry so i got tickets#and my GODDDDDD#honestly it hit rlly hard for me bc while i dont draw i used to be super passionate about piano and guitar and music in general#but bc of life and Adult responsibilities i fell out of that hobby#and this film just made my bones vibrate with the need to create and just DO!!! DO THINGS!!! GET OUT OF MY ROOM!!!#i didnt even relate to the subject matter but the soundtrack moved something deep within me like#yea the movie was sad but the soundtrack had me on the verge of tears the whole time from beginning to end#ESPECIALLY the song that played during the montage at the end jesus christ it just kept going and getting strong#and i was literally biting the inside of my cheeks to prevent me from crying HARD#but then the lights turned on and everyone next to me had tear stains on their cheeks so rlly i didnt need to hold back BUT STILL#GOD GO WATCH THIS MOVIE PLEASE

really want to read more and more literature (esp classics!) aghhhh yesterday iirc i was on a walk with my mom and twin and an old guy (not a weirdo dw) who was jogging or walking too actually asked what book i was carrying and it's a little funny bcs uhm he just went "oh a classic!" you see. i was carrying dante's inferno. which i still haven't properly started to read but anyways he might... if my mom is right... be the local parish guy so oopsies !! LMAO anyways yeah really interested in lovecraft for a while now! horror scares me and gives me paranoia but i also enjoy the writing of it? and i remember once that something/someone said my writing is kinda similar to his. hm.

I was wondering why Apep's boss theme sounded so familiar, like I was having heavy nostalgia trying to figure it out, but it reminds me of something from Kingdom Hearts, which I haven't played in so, so long!! Like especially the parts that involve the flute and clarinet??
omg y'all didn't know but I used to play the clarinet in middle school and grade nine, and we had to put on a little performance once, and I played one of the OSTs from the second game ksdjfsldgslk thinking about it kinda gets me cringy BUT it's a core memory where the aftermath of the performance unfortunately made me not want to play it anymore......... it's such a shame.
#ahhhhhh i was REALLY good at playing the clarinet. and the piano. i really hate myself for giving them both up.#guitar? not so much. i hated playing the guitar.#i have a clarinet saved into my amazon wishlist so i can buy one again bc i would love to relearn it.#ahhh yknow i always say how boring and mundane my life has always been??#at least that's what its always felt like from my perspective; i don't really change my routine and maybe that's why#BUT i have actually been blessed enough to experience SO MUCH in my life around all the bad things?#and when i was a teenager i think i really took that for granted. especially when it came to my health.#the fact that i dropped the clarinet mid-grade nine ended up being that awful culmination of the bad things i had to experience#but in hindsight i think if i continued to force myself to play it and/or the piano i would've ended up hating both of them.#my love for either won't ever go away nor will it decrease anymore (which i'm also grateful for)#and hopefully one day i WILL get back into the clarinet#but i'm grown enough now to put certain things into perspective that i can control the bad things that can happen to me or my health#so thinking about all the memories of playing that instrument when things were still good...... that's also an honour for me to hold onto.#now my favourite game has so many songs that has the clarinet in it and that really makes me so happy.#hahaha idk if this was all just random rambling but....... it made me happy to talk about and reminisce on.#:)#✦ nc vb.
