I have a backlog of photos to share, whoops! My friend @honeykiwis VERY GENEROUSLY gave me this Nina's Doll Saejin, and she's SO beautiful. Here are the pics I took when she arrived!
I love her so much, y'all. I decided to name her Natsumi, because she was originally "born" in summer and also the name just felt Right for her. I'm SO impressed with her default faceup, the lines are so delicate and pretty. ♥ Later on I'll post a lineup of all my mature 1/6 BJDs so you can see how she is size-wise compared to the rest.
She does NOT fit any Azone clothes smaller than M size, especially in the hips, but she fits stretchy things just fine and also I have such a large collection of 1/6 clothes this is not an issue for me, haha. Shoes seem fine. Phew!
One day I'll get her different eyes--the ones she came with I thought looked too big for my taste, and these are slightly too small (they're Granado eyes). She also needs another wig--the one she came with doesn't sit quite right to me (although it's really pretty). But these are projects for another day.

A couple years ago when I got into this hobby I bought a 1/6 parabox doll which is not something I care to collect now, but I just never did anything with her bc she wasn’t right for what I bought her for, so I’ve decided to repaint her myself (I do this for all my dolls now, at the time I didn’t know how) and I thought her faceup would be hard to remove bc I tried intentionally scratching it (bc parabox says that their faceups are very delicate) and nothing happened, not even with a stiff brush, but literally one swipe of alcohol took it clean off which was kinda cool?? I’m used to scrubbing for hours to get faceups off especially company faceups.
Now I’m left with a blank anime head (not my favorite style to paint) and it’s soooo tiny. Idk if I’m even gonna be able to paint her right because she’s so smol. I make dolls and stuff myself that are small but their faces are still a bit bigger and flatter to paint (I have really shaky hands) so it’s gonna be a big challenge. I’m excite tho. I haven’t painted a doll in a while and if I like her, I’m looking forward to having a doll I can spoil with cheap clothes and accessories. Im super broke atm so im hoping this will stave me over until I can afford the 1/3 bjd I really want rn even if it’s a wildly different project . Wish me luck lol! Even though I know she’ll be fully painted by the time this gets posted 😅

SAVE A HORSE, RIDE A COWBOY ( travis konecny . )
You weren’t exactly sure why TK had a cowboy hat or, in all honesty, where he’d found it but by no means were you complaining.
warnings: smut, basically pwp
wc: 1.2k
You shut the door softly on your way in from work knowing full well that the chance of Travis being knocked out on your couch was through the roof; your apartment was just better for post-practice naps, according to him.
What you weren’t expecting, though, was to see Travis sprawled out in your--well, his, since he’s pretty much claimed it as his spot in your place--recliner with a cowboy hat perched directly on the top of his head. Why he had it, you had no idea. Better question was where he’d found it in the first place. You were almost sure you’d never seen it before in either of your closets and it wasn’t like the small boutique down the street sold hats like that.
“Teeks?” you called out as you set your belongings down on the table near the door.
“Yeah, baby?” he called back, barely even glancing back behind him in your direction before looking back down at his phone. You crossed the length of the apartment in a few steps so that you were situated in front of the recliner. Travis shut his phone off and set it faceup on the end table beside him before opening his arms and inviting you to lay with him. Obliging, you draped your legs across his lap where his fingers met your shins in a familiar pattern.
“What’s this about, then?” you asked, flicking the brim of the hat down so that it covered his eyes. He scoffed lightly, adjusting it again so that it sat right on his head.
“Found it,” he muttered, moving his hand up so that it rested fully on your hip instead.
“I’m gonna give that a hard, no, you didn’t,” you chuckled.
“I thought it suited me.”
“I never said it didn’t.”
“Well you know what they say…” he trailed off, squeezing your hip in punctuation.
“What?” you asked, if nothing more than to just amuse him.
“Save a horse,” he said. You shook your head in confusion, your eyebrows furrowed.
“What-”
“Ride a cowboy.” You responded with a scoff of your own before slapping his chest lightly. It wasn’t long before Travis was kicking the leg rest of the recliner in and scooping you up out of the chair entirely. You hoped to God he got a good hold of your thighs before he dropped you onto the hardwood flooring--it wouldn’t be the first time. Thankfully, though, your wish came true, not without a squeal from you, as he carried you the short distance from your living room to your bedroom.
His lips are on yours in a second and they stayed connected to yours the whole way, only parting once for a second so that he could kick your bedroom door open enough to account for the two of you. You could feel yourself growing wetter as he took your bottom lip between your teeth.
“Please,” you whimpered, not even knowing what exactly you were begging for at that moment. You just needed more.
“Please what, baby?” he asked as he lowered you onto the mattress, maneuvering you so that his half-hard cock was now pressed into your thigh. It was very obvious to you that he wasn’t wearing anything underneath the shorts he had on. The hat, miraculously still perched on top of his head, was also seconds away from landing on the hardwood of your floor.
“Just-” you mumbled. “Please.”
“You’re gonna have to use your words, sweetheart,” he said, fingers delicately tracing the hemline of your pants.
“Fuck me,” you whispered.
“Yes ma’am,” he said, fully dipping his fingers into the waistband of your bottoms and pulling your pants and panties down in one go. A soft gasp fell from your lips as the cold air hit your bare pussy. He took his time kissing up the skin of your legs, especially taking his time at your thighs, before continuing up the rest of your body, completely skipping over the part you needed him most. Instead, he pushed the fabric of your blouse up enough that it bunched up just under your bra, his mouth following the delicate cotton.
“Don’t you think you’re a little overdressed, cowboy,” you said after a few tantalizing moments of his tongue against your skin. He pulled back from you, glancing down at the Flyers sweatshirt and athletic short combination that in no way matched the hat he was currently sporting. In an instant, he had placed the felt hat on your own head and was tugging the grey sweatshirt over his head. He tugged the black shorts down his thighs, letting them pool around his ankles as his, now, fully hard dick slapped against his stomach at attention.
Your mouth watered at the sight of him.
He was back on you in a second, though, mouth hovering over your own.
“As much as I would love to eat you out right now, I’m dying to be inside you,” he groaned, helplessly grinding into your core. One of his hands moved between your bodies and slipped into your work pants. He swiped the pad of his fingers across your clothes clit with a groan. “Honey, you’re soaked.”
“Just for you,” you said. “All for you.”
“You are gonna be the death of me,” he said before completely capturing your lips with his own.
“Let me ride you,” you moaned against him, his mouth almost swallowing the sound. He shuddered at the thought, even though he’d been the one to suggest it not even ten minutes ago.
He flipped the two of you over, his hands splayed along the backsides of your thighs as you situated yourself on top of him. You grabbed his length and ran the tip of him through your slick. Travis groaned as he jerked his hips up into your touch. Before allowing yourself to fully push yourself down on him, you adjusted the felt hat on your head so that it wouldn’t fall off.
“Please, baby,” he sighed below you. Nodding, you sank down on him until you bottomed out. It didn’t matter how many times the two of you hooked up, he always felt amazing.
“I could live inside you forever,” he groaned.
“Fuck,” you hissed as you started moving slowly. It took everything in Travis’ power not to hold your hips still and pound up into you but he’d let you have this—for a while.
The coil was already building in the pit of your stomach. You knew it wouldn’t be long before it snapped and with the way Travis was starting to meet your thrusts, he wasn’t far behind.
“Baby-“
“I know,” you cooed, clenching your walls around him. “I know. Me too.”
“Fucking hell,” he moaned as his fingers dug bruises into your skin. His hips stuttered against yours, triggering your orgasm and his own shortly after. You stayed on top of him for a moment longer just treasuring the way he felt inside of you. You swore it was like he was made for you.
After rolling off of him and onto the cold sheets of your bed, you tossed the cowboy hat that started this whole thing onto the foot of the bed next to you. You still didn’t know where Travis found these things but you really weren’t complaining at this point.
“Thank you, cowboy gods,” Travis quipped from beside you before chuckling to himself. And there was the dork you fell in love with.

thots on dolls, i'm curious abt how u got into them/what u like abt them
dolls are neat! sometimes you’re a fourteen-year-old kid with unrestricted internet access living in a town without art and a best friend who you hate as much as you hate yourself -- but this friend has good taste sometimes and oh no
they show you, or you find, this, and it’s the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen. (taste is an acquired thing, i don’t know what i was thinking). and then there’s her (it’s been eight years and i’d still sell my soul for her) and her and these and these and even this hideous fucker has amazing detailed construction and tiny intricate details if you look closely even though he’s ugly as all hell (his owner and i are no longer friends, he was not a factor but i’m so glad i get to trash him because jesus christ what IS that). and you look into it a bit further and holy shit you can customize them, they come in one colour and sometimes in pieces and when you’re doing their makeup you’re actually pretty much adding their skin since they don’t have blood vessels or freckles or anything. and you can make their clothes and wigs and shoes (it’s way cheaper that way) and there are wildly different sizes and styles and levels of poseability and they only really became a thing in the late 90s so the older ones look simplistic and awkward but they still look sweet. some of them have intense expressions, or stylized ones, but most of them only come with one face and photographing them is like making postmortem pictures look lifelike.
they have this weird sense of personality to them, even the serene-looking ones. when i bought ada (third link above), it was kind of terrifying? she was tiny and fragile and the seller didn’t put her head on and she came in a pink child-size shoebox with all these tiny tiny clothes and accessories with her face painted on (here she is) and she was literally seventeen centimetres tall. i hate kids, i’m not a fan at all, but it was like seeing a new baby. and then she was a brat! she doesn’t like holding poses, her limbs snap around, her head lolls around on its socket, and she goes cross-eyed if you bump her slightly. she can’t decide on a hairstyle or eye colour, she hated her original face and she hates how i redid it, and she’s too tiny and delicate to take anywhere. i love her so fucking much. i’ve had her since i turned sixteen, and i’m twenty-two now. the reason i like lola so much isn’t just that hesitant alien is a kickass album, it’s because there’s this weird little creature and it’s you and it’s also not you and it’s your best friend and a strong critic of your every move and it’s cute and it’s fuzzy and it’s not real like a person but it’s kind of more real than that?
other dolls are cool too. i’ve spent more time with this $40 impulse purchase than i have with all $200 USD of ada, and i love her a lot too, but in a different way. some people use dolls to “shell” their characters, but mine tend to just happen, and ada’s character is more important than emi’s, no matter how cooperative emi is. one of my other oldest dolls is a pair of legs (because she’s the type you can buy as separate parts) and i keep putting off assembling her entire body because she feels like art and she’s kind of my favourite weird sculpture now. even the ones that don’t work out are really neat to have around -- most doll hobbyists sell members of their collection that don’t work, some are like revolving doors, others keep everything, so there’s always a secondhand market going that you can add to or pull from, or just look at for inspiration.
the customization aspect is really fun, too. some of them you have to reinvent from the ground up (i finally got a blythe and that’s what i’ll be doing with her as soon as my WIP list is at a better point), others you have weirder tasks on, like dyeing or repainting a body to revitalize it/suit a character (doing that to a unoa kit like the one pictured above) or modifying it to improve poseability or visuals (i’ve been hacking at a barbie body so she can bend her legs to fit in her wheelchair). sculpting your own dolls is a super-involved process, but i’ll do that eventually too (reading books about it is really meditative, especially since they tend to be in other languages so you have to inspect the pictures super closely. it’s like targeted dreaming). making doll clothing was a really strong draw for me for a while -- i wasn’t happy with how i exist in a body and it’s never the way i want, so i used dolls as kind of clothing horses for styles or designs i wouldn’t or couldn’t wear myself. now that i feel better about that, the dolls just kind of get what they want (and i’ve been neglecting them to sew for myself lmao but they don’t mind).
my phases run in weird cycles, so i’m really out of the loop on new developments relating to anything other than mattel inc. (the fashion doll community on tumblr is great), but it seems like the hobby is getting a lot more creative and a lot less stale than it was the first couple of times i was really into it. it’s this fluid, ever-changing thing that makes jumping back in really interesting (and a lot of work), but there’s still this comforting base to it that stays the same (use respiratory protection and high-quality materials when doing faceups, don’t buy recasts, volks/fairyland/alchemic labo are popular and cute). and if you swap doll types, there’s months/years more of entertainment. (i have big gay autism, or, like, adhd-autism crux/combination, and research is so fun)
dolls are great! they’re like muses, photography subjects, OCs, clothes horses, mascots, art projects, and (sometimes) investments all at once. whatever kind of phase i’m in, there’s something i can do with them. and they’re good company, and great for decoration and indulging your goth sensibilities and freaking out your visitors if you feel like it
random bag of onions to finish off: creepy and cute are accidental and if you deliberately aim for them you’ll get boring off-base results, what kayla said about s*x dolls applies to other types of doll too (if you try to put too many conventionally attractive features together you’ll just end up with something uncanny and grotesque instead of something really beautiful), toyetic design is for babies, doll hobbyists esp. forum communities still have a lot of unconscious biases esp. racism and homophobia to unpack, recasting is art theft and is killing the community via its artists but barbie/blythe/integrity knockoffs are basically a moral responsibility, and art dolls with huge hips are the new minifee chloes

I’m so excited - I can see progress in my faceups!
Especially love how Stars are Falling Liu (top) turned out. She actually has a lot of shimmer powder which is lovely IRL but hard to photograph ^^ Painting white resin is so much easier than normal yellow, and you can use more delicate colours.
I’m also happy with how my Leprechaun Boys Li (bottom) turned out except for his blobby eyebrows. Obviously still gotta work on those. He has some tiny sparse freckles over his cheeks and nose.
The three most valuable bits of information I’ve gleaned from tutorials are: (1) set off warm colours with cool colours as highlights; (2) more expensive pastels really are better and make a massive difference; (3) how to thin acrylic paints. That said, I’m a bit annoyed I forgot entirely that I'm capable of doing eyeliner in acrylic and just went straight to pencils with these two orz

Tbh I really hate doll lashes. Like sometimes they really make a faceup look finished, but they’re so finicky and most of the time I feel like they just cast shadows on the eyes and take away from the look of the eyes themselves. I also find them hard to find in good quality for a good price and every time I trim human lashes for a doll they look jacked up. So now I pretty much only have lashes on my dolls if they have a company faceup or something, but if I’m painting them myself I’d rather leave them off. Especially if I want to add something to the faceup at some point because I don’t want to have to take them off to seal the paint job even if I’m using brush on sealant. Besides I like my dolls to have kind of over the top chunky eye makeup and it just doesn’t mix with delicate false eyelashes.
