I enjoy really decadent foods - not like, every day, but I’ve had quality steaks cooked by professionals, sushi that tasted even better than it looked (truffles that cost 20$ a piece…).
I’m just saying I can appreciate the appeal of highfalutin foods and meals.
That said, there is little else, to me, that tops a delightfully, beautifully, perfectly soft boiled egg.
Especially when I can put the whole fucking thing in my maw like some bog goblin and feel all that warm gooey yolk flood the inside of my mouth.
Fuck me it is just the height of decadence.

Thoughts Of You
-fluff, hangover, dahyun acting like a hopeless lesbian!! implied relationship
Tumblr media
: hangover or not Dahyun's mind never ceases to stop racing, especially about you
words 684
non-idol!dahyun x fem!reader
Through the open window, a soft breeze wafted into the room, it welcomed a nice shine of light which gladly took its place, laying a sunny streak over Dahyun’s sleeping face. As pretty as she looked with the sun shining on her face, she didn’t seem to like it much. If the groan was anything to go by, and the whine as she turns to face the other way, shifting around on the bed.
Fuck the sun. I’m tired n wanna sleep. Head hurts. Where is she?
A giggle rings through her head, the sound pounding off the walls of her brain. Another groan, and although her eyes are closed she feels around the bed, looking for something or rather someone. Another giggle echoes in her head, and Dahyun has to adjust her eyes, taking in the empty white sheets around her.
Mmmm, actually this breeze feels nice. But, where is she???
She turns back over, and her head hurts, it aches terribly, but she wants you first. You’re sitting next to the same damn window that woke her up, in a plain white tee and a pair of light gray sweatpants. Criss-cross on a large beanbag, work laptop on your lap, with your reading glass on. You tilt your head at her, waiting for her to come to her senses, even if it was just a little bit.
Shit that’s hot for no reason. Say something, c’mon, say something.
“Good Morning” Dahyun mumbles, more like grumbles, into silence, this time you hold back your laugh, biting your lip. Getting up and walking towards her, you softly run your hand through her tangled hair. Dahyun leans closer towards the touch.
“Good morning to you too,” you whisper softly, “even if it’s four in the afternoon”. Dahyun huffs, closing her eyes to bear the pain grunting as you help her sit up against the headboard. You place a glass of water against her lips, and then hand her some painkillers. Dahyun’s eyes furrow, she swallowed the pills with difficulty, tilting her head back felt horrible and when she did it felt like her brain moved in her head, worsening this already unbearable ache.
Never drinking again, ever. Not happening, no matter what. But this treatment is to die for… a pretty girl, with pretty hair, n pretty eyes, my pretty-
“I know baby, it aches, but you did such a good job,” you praise her and leave a quick kiss on her cheek. She smiles, almost in bliss, she thinks that if she gets enough kisses from you, you’d be able to cure this horrible hangover.
More please, kiss me more, praise me more. M’like it, more please.
“I’ll get you something to eat, be right back,” you assure her before stepping out of the room.
nooooo come baaaack
And you do, holding a bowl of warm Miso soup, you sit on the edge of the bed, you mix the soup with the spoon, before lifting it up to feed Dahyun. The girl blushes, and she lifts her hand, “It’s okay, you don’t have to feed me”. You smile, your eyes pointing towards her lifted hand, it’s shaking, “oh”. And Dahyun quickly puts her hand back down, her blush reaching her ears.
That was so fucking embarrassing.
“You’re cute,” you mumble, feeding her. Dahyun has to grip the sheets to brace herself.
No u.
“Where did you order the soup from anyway?” Dahyun tries to make light conversation, but your sudden frown makes her want to bury herself. “Doesn’t taste good enough?”
Fuck Dahyun, you desperate gay freak! You made her sad!
“S-sorry! It’s just really good! Like the best soup I’ve ever had! Literally at the top of my list now! Just wanted to know where you got it cuz it’s that good-” Dahyun truthfully rambles. You blush, looking away, a soft smile on your lips as you tug a piece of hair behind your ears. It’s like Dahyun is falling more in love with each passing second. “I made it myself, actually; I’m glad you like it,” Dahyun beams.
Dahyun, you smart bitch!

reo taking care you while sick!! i know you wouldn't be able to lift a finger while he's helping you 💗
-🎀
REO MIKAGE taking care of his sick!s/o
content. mention of illness and a mention of death (just as a joke), reo being reo (i love him so fucking much) + gn pronouns used.
author’s note. hi love! tysm for requesting. i love caring reo, so i decided to write a short drabble, hope it’s okay! much love <3 also, sorry for the pretty long waiting :(
Tumblr media
“how are you feeling?” asks reo, sitting on the edge of your bed. “like shit” you murmur, rolling under the covers.
you’ve texted reo earlier this morning a simple “i’m sick, won’t be at school today” and then your boyfriend knocked at your door.
“do you need anything? an extra blanket? a plushie? food? another pillow?” you smile while he looks at you.
reo has always been caring towards you, but you’ve never seen him this concerned about your health: it seems like you’re almost dying. just to be clear, yesterday you went outside under the rain without an umbrella, and you got a common flu.
“reo, i know you’re worried about my health, but trust me, i’m kind of fine, i just need some rest and I’ll be good in like two days” you mutter, while hugging the blankets.
“you know that i won’t leave you alone until you recover, right?” he slightly laughs. “it might sound stupid, but i don’t want you to get tired over stuff that i can do for you”.
you cover your face with your hands. he’s too damn sweet.
“would you like to eat something in particular for lunch? i can cook for you, you know?” he asks “in order to help you decide, my cooking skills are pretty good” he chuckles after that.
“i’d love to eat some miso soup” you say as low as possible, not to worsen your sore throat.
“as you wish, my love” reo jumps up and goes to your kitchen “don’t move a finger, i’ll be back with your special miso soup”
you laugh faintly. he’s adorable when he acts like your personal nurse. also if he might seem one of those bitchy rich teenagers, he’s actually the opposite. he deeply cares about his friends and about you, especially when you’re in trouble or you’re not feeling at your best.
after around twenty minutes, reo comes back to your room holding the miso soup bowl and a glass of water just to find you sleeping under the blankets.
he smiles sweetly, puts the food on your desk and goes near you, careful in order not to disturb you.
he watches you sleeping and caresses your cheek. “i love you” he murmurs.

advice for letting go of addiction to junk food? /:
I find that attachment to junk food is often due in part to not really ever falling in love with nourishing whole food ingredients. You're only gonna ever find joy in turning away from junk food when you're just as, or more, attracted to the whole food alternatives you're giving yourself. It shouldn't be about punishment or self-denial. It's about satisfaction, excitement, and self-love. Don't beat yourself up about your current situation. Simply, step forward into this new journey with patience & self-compassion.
💚So, first things first is really developing a longgg list of whole foods that you enjoy. Different fruits, vegetables, grains, beans, seaweeds, foraged plants, seeds, nuts, herbs & spices, and so on. I recommend mostly purchasing what's in season (the taste, texture, and price points tend to be way better!), and visiting farmer's markets when possible (in my state, they take food stamps and have tons of discounts, to make the produce more accessible to all. I hope it's similar where you are). You may have to do some learning about how to identify fresh & ripe produce, determine how to identify good quality, comparing the tastes depending on food preparation methods (boiled vs roasted vs fresh vs pickled), and little things like that. Don't be afraid to try new things. You will likely find that you grow to like things you would've formerly disliked.
💚Next is to get into finding alternatives for your previous favorites. Especially snacks or quick meals. So, let's say that you are super into potato chips and instant noodles...swap that for homemade chips or wedges (you can make them in the microwave, air fryer, or oven - with little to no oil) & a simple noodle soup (packed with herbs, some miso and/or seaweed, a few veggies of your choice, and anything else you might like).
💚It's critical as well to really develop a rolling menu of recipes to make yourself. Your meals don't have to be complex or take ages (something like a taco bowl is great). Focus on simple but flavor-filled meals by highlighting the fresh flavors and spices, and by creating a well-rounded flavor profile in your dishes (for savory dishes: umami/salty + sour + sweet + optionally herby, spicy, and/or bitter). An accent flavor (or something to make the dish pop) is also great, such as citrus zest, liquid aminos, coconut, paprika, sesame seeds, green onion. Have ideas for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, desserts, sauces & dressings, drinks, and snacks & dips.
💚Notice keenly how much better you feel when you reduce the junk food. Choose that good feeling over some really short-lived gratification. Notice, too, how poorly junk food can leave you feeling.
💚Learn to journal or tap into a hobby when your emotions get high and you want something unhealthy to "drown out your feelings." It's not about the fact that those foods aren't great for you. It's about paying attention to your feelings instead of stuffing them away.
💚Eliminate the misconception that it's cheaper eating junk food. You're less likely to feel the natural satiation point when you're eating low nourishment foods, so overeating is quite normal when you eat lots of processed foods. Also, the processing of such foods often is less kind on the earth compared to whole plant foods. So, it's expensive in that larger scale too. And you just aren't your best self - less energy, motivation, and stuff are likely when junk food is your primary fuel. The most affordable foods worldwide are typically satiating whole plant foods (grains, legumes, potatoes, etc).
💚Don't keep junk food around all the time. It turns into an 'out of sight, out of mind' thing.
💚Change the way you grocery shop. Spend time in the produce section especially. Always leave with things like greens, seasonal fruit, frozen fruit/veg, root veggies, etc. Discover which stores have the best options and actually stock quality produce. Wholesalers/big box stores & ethnic markets tend to do pretty good.
💚Create new habits. When you get home from work, you might be used to eating a certain snack. Interrupt that habit with a new one.
💚Stay hydrated. Water-rich produce (like cucumbers, oranges, leafy greens, berries) and drinking water can both help. Sometimes, we seek food when we're actually thirsty.
💚Start your days on a good note with fresh flavors. I recommend fruit for the sweetness and energy. And make sure your meals are satisfying and nutrient-dense, so you aren't starving and looking for energy drinks or anything an hour later.
💚Don't be all-or-nothing in your approach. This helps you to avoid that punishment mindset. It's just about choosing the food that really makes you feel good and happy and content.
💚Try out flavors from around the world. Get into ingredients and flavor profiles you've been missing out on. For example, rosewater, tomatillos, various mushrooms, berbere spice, different curries, dragonfruit, pandan. I just love traveling via my plates. It's an easy way to romanticize your life.
💚Learn to make a good, hearty, interesting salad. Smoothie bowls are a good thing to learn too. These are low-effort meals that are great when the weather is hot, you're busy, and/or your energy is low.
💚Get into making your own condiments. These can add an extra kick of flavor and interest for your dishes. For example, herb infused vinegars and oils, hot sauce, pickled veggies, rich sauces, etc.
💚Avoid food waste. Often when people are trying to eat better, the produce they purchase often goes bad before they can incorporate it into meals. Store items properly to extend their shelf life. Buy some fruit somewhat underripe (if they're a kind that ripens off the tree). Freeze things before they can go bad. Make soup broths, pickles, kimchi, jams, sauces, etc. Make meals around what is ready to be used. Also, don't be overly adventurous and buy too many unfamiliar ingredients at once.
💚And I'll end on an unexpected one. Spend more time outside in nature. You are typically become appreciative all those colors and scents and intrigue in simple/slow food meals when you do.
I wish you the best & I apologize for taking a while to respond.

. . .
I should cook dishes from home more often instead of instant meals. Especially when I'm feeling homesick.
There's something so comforting about enjoying a bowl of miso soup after a hard day at school. It's extremely good on a rainy day.

大家好! MS and I caught up at the Japanese restaurant which serves salmon hotpot. We shared spinach in sesame sauce and bonito flakes as well as grilled mini aribiki sausages. For mains, he chose grilled cod with rice which comes with miso soup and pickles and I tried their oyako donburi (chicken, onions and scrambled eggs with rice). We loved how the creamy sesame sauce added a delicate flavour to the spinach. Aribiki sausages seem to be less greasy than other sausages so there's less of a jelat (bloated, saturated, full) feeling after eating them. We enjoyed the crunchy skin and mild savoury taste. MS said his cod was good. As for my oyako donburi, tender chicken pieces and smooth, fluffy eggs paired very well with rice. The bill came up to under $62, which was reasonable given the quality of our meal.
After telling my parents about the coffee shop with the Japanese stew stall, they made their way there, tried the food and liked it so much, they asked to meet me when I feel like eating there on WFH days. So we did just that! After they were seated in the airconditioned section, I placed our orders. They wanted miso salmon stew with rice; I tried tomato chicken stew with soba (buckwheat noodles) and ordered an extra portion of soba for Pa to take home because he likes it. Finally, I ordered cucumber salads for all of us. The tomato chicken stew is delicious; the sauce tastes similar to the gravy served with Hainanese pork chop. The chicken, carrots and potatoes are very tender and the celery still has some crunch. What an enjoyable meal!

For all the talk about weighing ourselves and not being obsessive about it, I'll be very frank. I gained weight on purpose because, at 47yo, it isn't exactly healthy to remain a US size 00. But because, like family and close friends, I'm very active and don't eat fastfood often, my weight often dips below what I deem as optimal. I need to weigh myself daily so as to consume enough calories. My meals tend to be very filling and nutrient-dense so I don't snack a lot; when I do, fruit and nuts are enough to keep me full till the next meal. If I must name the foods that keep me fullest, it will have to be seafood and fish. My cousin, K, can pack away a lot of food but when I took him to a buffet and he fell in love with the seabass, he couldn't eat any more after finishing a plate of it.
Tumblr media
youtube
K was so apologetic because I was paying for our meal and, because it was quite expensive, he wanted to justify the expense by eating as much as possible but, after the seabass, he just couldn't. I didn't mind, because I would rather he enjoys the meal. Now why would I say fish and seafood are the most filling - I often cook at home and dine out once a day. 6 Hokkaido scallops stirfried with celery eaten with a bowl of rice can keep me full till the next meal. The same goes with seabass baked with plenty of garlic, bakchoy and rice. Everytime I eat fish, especially white fish and seafood as a protein, man, I'm stuffed. Why we focus more on fish and seafood is because in the 1980s, the first centenarians appeared in Japan and we wanted to emulate what they did so as to stay healthy for as long as possible.
Tumblr media
My parents feel the same when I treat them to lobster noodles; after downing that, dimsum and some vegetables, they don't have room for dessert even though both of them have a sweet tooth. When we're full, we're less inclined to snack and, if we do, these snacks tend to be light - fruit and a small quantity of nuts. Some people try to restrict calories for main meals but then get too hungry and snack a lot. Family, friends and I do the opposite; we have filling main meals and are usually too full to snack a lot. So I have the opposite problem; I have to weigh myself consistently in order to not lose the weight. Come at me if you want, I don't care. 下次见!

i feel you with the soft boiled egg thing
i esp like them in ramen, when the yolk is still runny enough you can mix it with the spicy soup and it turns everything super creamy and wonderful! (also i recently indulged in some bougie grape juice and it was wonderful. sometimes you just gotta enjoy life)
Right? Like the pricy shit is good when you can get it, but there’s so much decadence in to find in the cheap stuff too.
Not that any food is really cheap nowadays with the cost of groceries, but you know what I mean.
You can make a 20 (40?) cent pack of ramen amazing with two eggs and some freeze dried veggies. I like to add a bit of soy and/miso to it and there’s little that’s better.
Tomato soup and grilled cheese is liiiiifffffffeeeeee. Especially if you slice up some jalapeños and put ‘em in the cheese >.>
I made Lipton chicken noodle packets 10x better by rubbing the inside of the bowl with butter. It’s not even that much butter but it makes the soup taste richer and I’m addicted, it’s one of my favorite no muss meals.
I will 100% pay 60$ for a sushi boat, but also like rice in a bowl with a pat of butter and I’m good. (If I add a little wasabi it curbs my desire for sushi xD )
Oh on the grape juice, my mom made wine for a good while and she let me have some of the grape juice she used. Boy howdy you talk about a treat, I was running laps it was so sweet and strong.

.ೃ࿐ MHA MEN AS GIRL DADS
contents: bakugo + midoriya + todoroki + hawks + aizawa. fem!reader. bakugo's his usual snarky self. mentions of sheltering in midoriya's part. vague mentions of an injury in aizawa's part. consider this my return to the mha fandom.. ish.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
★ ━ KATSUKI BAKUGO
katsuki teaches his daughter to handle the stupid, ignorant world she lives in.
he affectionately refers to her as his tough little girl, and it's true—she inherited her dad's sass and thick exterior.
in school, she's that girl who argues with the teacher over dumb rules, and when katsuki and you get called in for her misbehavior, your husband just laughs and ruffles his daughter's hair.
yeah, she's a handful, but at least you and katsuki know that your daughter can stick up for herself!
that being said, both of you are still very willing to step in when it's necessary.
one time, your daughter came home, sniffling over something a "dumbass shrimp" (in katsuki's words) said to her.
needless to say, the boy who made your daughter cry was the one who went home bawling after katsuki had a friendly chat with him :)
your daughter's tough enough to fight for herself, but in the worst case scenario, she also has two parents to back her up!!
★ ━ IZUKU MIDORIYA
he treats his daughter like the delicate little girl she is!
having seen the harsh, unforgiving world through his own eyes, izuku doesn't want the universe to treat his daughter as badly as it treated him :(
so he protects her at all times.
that means covering her eyes when bad things come on the news and sometimes—sometimes—telling small, white lies about the things he's done and the people he's fought against.
after all, he wouldn't want to burden his little girl with the truth of her world this soon.
she's too young to deal with all of this, and that's the one thing izuku will always stand by.
sometimes you tell him that he's sheltering her too much, but there's no convincing him. at all.
he's a very sweet, understanding dad, but he wants his daughter to have a happy childhood, free from the stress of the hero world.
★ ━ SHOTO TODOROKI
he's a very good dad by any standards—other parents/teachers always comment that your daughter was raised very well.
shoto's always there to listen when your daughter has a bad day, and he's always there to congratulate her when she has a good day!
sure, he's busy a great deal of the time, but that never really made him seem absent.
when shoto's with you two, his attention is entirely fixed on his girls.
your daughter is in love with her father's cooking—one time, she came home talking about something tasty she tried on a field trip, and shoto spent two hours learning how to make it for her!!
shoto's the perfect dad, no matter what way you look at it.
instead of repeating his father's mistakes, he learned from them and used that example to make himself better.
needless to say, he's also a perfect husband—most of the time.
the stress of being a pro-hero rubs off on him sometimes, and when that happens, it's up to you to ease him up.
a massage and a bowl of miso soup usually does the trick—especially if it's his adorable daughter who hands him the bowl.
★ ━ KEIGO TAKAMI
keigo's a super fun dad!!
he gives his daughter the best childhood she could possibly ask for—the perfect mix of thrill and responsibility.
some nights when his workload's light, he takes you and your daughter out on a quick flight up to the tallest building in the city.
it's become something of a family tradition—keigo scoops up his girls in his arms and takes them to the rooftops, where you spend the next couple hours picnic-ing and watching the sun fall below the horizon.
just like everyone else, he's very busy, but goes out of his way to make time for you two!
the amount of shifts he's ditched or given away to come home early is... less than ideal for his employer.
keigo loves telling his daughter about his job—unlike midoriya, keigo tells his daughter everything from a young age.
obviously, he sugarcoats it a lot.
he makes it sound like it's a game of superheroes and villains, and that her dad's the knight in shining armor.
and to her, keigo really is her knight.
★ ━ SHOTA AIZAWA
he raises his daughter to not take any shit from others.
yeah, shota himself doesn't have any desire to deal with any more bullshit than necessary, so he passes down that same trait to his daughter.
most people are relatively skeptical as to how good of a dad shota could possibly be, given his reputation, but he really is an amazing dad.
shota's a very good listener, and even better at giving advice.
which makes the father-daughter chats both easy and entertaining!!
your daughter always goes to shota about any drama or rumors she hears about, and shota gives genuine advice that any girl would listen to.
shota's half-asleep for a pretty big fraction of his life, but he's wide awake wherever you or his daughter's concerned.
when your daughter trips and scrapes her knee for the first time, shota's there instantly, holding both her little hands in his own and comforting her while you bandage her knee.
he distracts her by pointing out the cat prowling along the side of the street, and it works like a charm!
once your daughter's tears have stopped and a small smile's returned to her face, shota takes you and her out for ice cream :)

food and diet talk
not that I'm dieting lol.
It has been really, really frustrating trying to make even the small changes that I wanted. The minute I find a healthy recipe I like, I'll discover it's only healthy in some ways, but unhealthy in others. Even if I ate nothing but bowls and bowls of kale without any seasoning, I might get lower cholesterol but I'd be lacking a whole lot of vitamins and just energy in general.
One source says eggs are a yes! They have cholesterol but they're so good for you that you should still eat them (obviously not every single meal or every day but they're healthy enough not to be cut out).
Another source says: eggs are a big no! You can have them if you really, really must... but only now and then... and only the whites... and we don't recommend it tbh.
If I eat "healthy," I'm eating food I don't like, that tastes bad because it has no seasoning, and the only benefit is the idea that I'm going to be overall healthier myself (which for me rn is pretty much about cholesterol and that's it). But my genetics mean it could have no effect - and even without the genetic component, it could still be no good, because I'd fuck up my health other ways by eating "healthy" but not "balanced."
Moderation is supposed to be the key. Eat almost everything as long as it's a balanced diet. But what even is moderation. I went to a restaurant the other day that bills itself as a healthy restaurant. It has the nutritional facts listed right there on the menu, tells you the pros and cons of each dish, etc. But they have a fish deal with 10 grams of salt. That's like double the amount of salt you're supposed to eat in a day?? And my meal was a chicken salad. The chicken had the skin on, which, fine, it's a restaurant (but it actually didn't need it, the meat was very tender and well-seasoned without the skin). It came with multi-grain rice with hjiki and miso soup. Those were fine I think. The real insult was the chicken salad itself. It was supposed to be loaded with vegetables: it had three thin strips of bell pepper, one wedge of tomato, two pieces of broccoli, and two thin, tiny AF slices of squash. The rest was literally just lettuce and cabbage. Not what I was expecting at all. A while ago I went to an Italian restaurant and got their salad, which was just as big even though I got a half portion, and had more vegetables. It was, however, absolutely doused in oily dressing. I hate restaurants that put the dressing on for you (the nice thing about the "healthy" place was at least they put all the sauces on the side so I just didn't use them). It was actually too much too: tasted nice for a few bites, but soon was just super overpowering. It was also the same dressing they put on the bruschetta so if I ever go back I definitely won't order both lol.
Anyway, well, I was prepared for a "healthy" restaurant to not really be that healthy - I'm sure it's going more for "healthy compared to other restaurants," not as healthy as home cooking. But still... I can't get over that meager amount of vegetables in a salad. And I never wanted to be That Girl who orders a salad as an entree. I'm not trying to lose weight, I don't care how big or small people are, I'm just trying to lower my cholesterol numbers by avoiding meat, especially red meat, avoiding sugary and fried food, and trying to eat healthier carbs. I've probably had the most success limiting fried food, or at least more success than I expected. Still not as much as I should be but it's a start. Sugar is harder especially now that it's cold and I want hot cocoa... But I have made some progress there. It's nothing big, but at least I've tried to only eat chocolate-covered almonds instead of just chocolate when I get a craving, and I've been going for sweet potato or fruit sweets whenever I can persuade myself away from chocolate cravings.
I usually eat two meals a day, a brunch sort of and dinner. The first is a light meal and it's usually oatmeal and fruit, or rice with beans. I struggle to get in more veggies or really anything more for that meal because I eat with my students (it's their lunch time) and they need so much help eating their meals that it's hard for us teachers to eat our own. My coworkers can mostly do it, though. But unfortunately, I've always been a slow eater, and as much as I love toddlers, helping them spit out food they refuse to swallow into a napkin and then turning back to my own lunch really grosses me out and always has. So I try to only eat quick, light things. The problem with waiting for my break to eat lunch is 1) it's often not till 3 pm, and 2) if I use my break to eat then I lose prep time. Because even though I'm not paid for one hour a day... I sometimes only get 15 paid time away from the kids. And the max I'm supposed to get... is 30 min x'D which is nowhere near enough. So if I don't use my break nothing happens. And this is true for everyone - people do take actual breaks, but only when they don't have anything else that needs doing, and even then I almost always discover something I forgot and have to rush to deal with (yesterday it was sending the kids' outside play hats home for the weekend to be washed. Usually a c-oteacher does that, but both my co-teachers were out on Friday so I was the only one there to do classroom upkeep.)
So I try to eat good meals for dinner. And then I just get stuck. Because I make something, it tastes good, it has protein and fiber and vitamins, but it's also got a salty dressing, or involves frying, or tastes like ass unless it's well seasoned... And I just don't KNOW how to make food without ANY carbs. You're supposed to get some, but I tend to assume I got enough at lunch. I don't want zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice but. Also it's so much more work.
I just feel frustrated (in a way I've heard lots of people frustrated in the past) that every change I make backfires in a different way. It's just such a bummer to find something I like and then realize it's not as good for me as I thought. Idk what to do. Although, for the first step, I think I've got to lose this job and go somewhere I can have a proper lunch. (But even that comes with a loss because this job DOES give me tons of chances for walking and squatting and exercise - not enough to count as "intense" but it's certainly much better than being sedentary.) And then I guess I should talk to a nutritionist since I don't understand all the nutritional trade-offs well enough myself.
Lol, when I first started this not-diet, my coworker said, "Isn't your background Italian? The Mediterranean diet is so healthy!" Well, Idk it might be, but my 100% Italian grandpa still died of heart disease. And my mom, who is his daughter, and whose eating habits are 100x better than my dad's, still has very high cholesterol and docs want to put her on statins, even though she's been specifically dieting for decades to not have that happen.

Yurakuen in Diamond Hotel Offers Eat-All-You-Can Yakiniku
Ever since I first experienced Yurakuen’s Teppanyaki Eat-All-You-Can at Diamond Hotel Philippines, I have always wanted to come back for their premium seafood and meat dishes. Surprisingly, I just found out that Yurakuen also has a Yakiniku Eat-All-You-Can promotion, where guests can grill their own food at the specialized Yakiniku tables over Japanese charcoal. That’s why I was so excited to visit Diamond Hotel last week to try this delicious option for myself.
Yurakuen is Diamond Hotel’s award-winning Japanese restaurant located at the ground floor, just past its equally elegant lobby lounge. This dining oasis is one of the prettiest places you can find in the city, even with all the newer hotels and resorts that have opened. I always marvel at its three-story high floor-to-ceiling glass windows illuminating the iconic glass cherry blossom tree in the center.
The teppanyaki grills are usually what diners go for when they visit Yurakuen (Read: Teppanyaki All You Can at Yurakuen in Diamond Hotel). This is where you have your own personal chef who cooks in front of you on a teppan table.
However, there is also a separate area nearby which offers a different dining experience altogether. The Yakiniku Eat-All-You-Can is available daily at the Yurakuen Japanese Restaurant for only P3,580 net per person. Here, you can grill your own meats and seafood instead of watching the chefs do it for you. This is not just your usual yakiniku or samgyupsal buffet, because it comes with premium dishes and ingredients that you won’t find in other cheaper alternatives.
Guests can order as much as they want from the Yakiniku Menu which also comes with other Japanese appetizers, salads and soups. It also includes a round of standard drinks.
Diamond Hotel’s Japanese MasterChef Hiroshi Masuda personally welcomed us to Yurakuen as we were all excited to begin our yakiniku adventure.
But before we fired up the grills, the Yakiniku all-you-can-eat experience starts off with a variety of appetizers that would definitely entice your palate. I ordered some Crab Stick Salad for myself but you can also try the Wakame Seaweed Salad or the Garden Salad.
I also had some warm Miso Soup for my starters. They also offer Egg Soup and Seaweed Soup to whet your appetite.
Now this is my type of appetizer! This Japanese platter comes with fresh Tuna and Salmon Sushi and Sashimi plus Crab Sticks, Ebi Tempura Roll and California Roll. Other appetizers you can order include Kimchi, Dilis Tsukudani, Pickled Vegetables, and Peanuts.
Each guest can order 1 round of standard drinks including Japanese beer, soda, and juices.
Now it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get ready to grill these unlimited servings of premium seafood, meat and vegetables. The tabletop grills use Japanese charcoal for cooking. This is really much better than the typical electric or portable grills used at other restaurants because you can taste the smokiness of the dishes.
We started with a seafood platter consisting of U.S. Scallops, Squid, Shrimp, Salmon. Just put the items on the hot grill and let it cook according to your preference. The plump and juicy scallops were really good, as well as the fresh shrimps and tender salmon.
Carnivores will love to have these meaty items on the grill. There’s Pork Belly, Beef Rib Eye, Beef Top Striploin, Beef Short Ribs, Baby Lamb Chops, and Chicken on the Yakiniku menu.
I really enjoyed having my own Surf anf Turf options. It’s so easy so cook these and I can eat and order as much as like.
Don’t forget about the vegetables and make sure to include some mushrooms, pumpkin, onions, and sweet potato as well. All these meats and seafood go down better with a bowl of their Seafood Fried Rice.
There were so many meats to choose from but I just had to try them all. The ribeye steak was my favorite, especially when paired with the shrimp. You will definitely not find these premium meats at other all you can eat restaurants.
It’s great when you have a seat mate who loves to cook, because all I had to so was to eat everything on the table. Finally, after all that grilling, we ended our yakiniku adventure with some cool desserts such as Seasonal Fresh Fruits and Ice Cream.
We would like to thank Ms. Melanie Samonte for hosting our yakiniku group and always taking care of us whenever we visit Diamond Hotel. The Yakiniku All-You-Can-Eat at Yurakuen is truly one of the most premium and luxurious dining offers in the city that you should not miss. I’ll definitely be back here soon!

"Thank you!" He says with a smile when given the okay. Once he was eventually done chopping the carrots, he places the pieces in a bowl, before discarding the unusable parts. "Here we go... I hope this is fine. If there's anything else I can help with, I'll be happy to do it."
He can already smell a nice aroma brewing once Akira added the onion to the pot. He wasn't sure if Akira would consider him a friend just yet, but cooking with one... always felt nice to Shuichi. It'd make him even happier if they truly do grow closer from this, especially since he also was pretty busy, so there wasn't a lot of times he and the other could just talk and hang out like this.
"It is... my uncle believes it's always good for people to learn how to cook from a young age. Right? I remember how happy I felt when I made my first recipe that wasn't a burnt nightmare." He laughs, before listening to the rest of what Akira says with a smile. "That's nice... I'm glad you can have such nice friends like him and the others to eat out with."
"Ahaha, is that so? Then I bet it must be great to be able to enjoy this curry anytime you like!" He laughs with him, before giving a pondering hum at his question. "But my favorite recipe, huh... honestly, I really love grilled salmon, with steamed rice and miso soup. It's one of my favorite meals to have for breakfast, and in general. Then again, anything with seafood, salmon especially, I'll happily enjoy it, heh heh. Ah, but I really like curry, too! This is already smelling great!"
Tumblr media
"Go ahead. Don't want to soil your uniform." He quickly replied to his question with a nod while he cut the tender chicken diagonally into bite-sized pieces after discarding of the extra fat, to create more surface area and flattened each piece, so that it cooked faster. Then he seasoned it with freshly ground black pepper. His next step was to heat some oil in a large pot over medium heat, and add the onion.
It's going well so far and getting to know the other more was an advantage over finding him on school grounds. It can be quite difficult, given how packed Akira's schedule was lately. He figured Saihara was on the same wavelength as him.
Tumblr media
"That so? Learning how to cook from a young age is nice, I'm not gonna lie. It's relaxing sometimes, knowing that you made is not junk, although I do like eating out a lot with Ryuji and the others. What's your favorite recipe? Color me curious. Mine is... this curry." He let out a chuckle.

'Safe' in a Teahouse (1/3)
Thoma x GN Reader (SAGAU)
Across your thinning arms were faint pulses of pain; throbbing and harsh enough to awaken your consciousness. It wasn't difficult to recall the causes of them all - rather, the memories were etched into your mind with a jagged blade, scraping and grating against your brain.
Though, it was through the faint haze you were experiencing that a realisation struck you. The pain wasn't as harsh as it had been before. Why wasn't it...?
Frail hands stretched out, coming into contact with what felt like soft cloth covering agonising wounds. Beneath the bandages, a cold ointment had been generously lathered; providing relief to your physical ailments.
Confusion. It made itself clear on your expression, that had previously been blank due to being in exhausted slumber. With trembles all over your body, you slowly managed to sit yourself up, though with the motion came a sudden urge to gag. There was a burning sensation rising up from within your throat.
It escaped. Not vomit (as you had expected it to be) but salt. Salt that was mingled in with water and bile, which landed inevitably upon your blanket-covered lap. However, you couldn't bring it upon yourself to care when breathing soon became such an arduous task.
Coughs were wracking your whole form. It was difficult to distinguish whether the tears leaking from your eyes were from the pure agony you were experiencing, or the rush of emotions and memories that had now also presented themselves to you.
There was a quiet patter of footsteps in your direction. What shortly followed were a pair of gloved hands pulling several strands of hair back from in front of your face, just after having placed a bucket beneath where you were hurling.
The person's helpful gesture resumed until you could no longer feel the salt causing anymore sudden spasms of your heaving chest. You were grateful.
Especially since it was... difficult to find someone so kind in this version of Teyvat you were in.
You fiercely fought to prevent another round of tears, begging to make themselves known. Though your eyesight was hazy, and your brain too fogged up with past events on repeat, it was quite easy to identify the man sat before you, on his knees and glancing down at you with what could best be described as worry.
Worry? It'd been a while since you'd come across something like that.
Their mint-green eyes crinkled with said emotion. It was obvious that they were attempting to be gentle in their actions and motions towards you so far, and yet you still couldn't help the involuntary urge to flinch back.
"Hey, hey, it's alright," Thoma spoke, a clear note of pity in his tone at your display of fear. "You're safe here, I've made sure of it. No one should be coming for the rest of the day as far as I'm aware."
You glanced down when something warm nudged at your hands. Presented there was a bowl of miso soup, steaming and radiating a warmth that you hadn't felt for weeks at best. Compared to the dry, cold and rotting food you'd been consuming this whole time, this was to be considered a mere luxury in your eyes.
"F...For me...?"
Pity appeared in Thoma's gaze again. A small, sad smile graced his features at your whisper, as he nodded affirmatively. He watched on as you lifted the bowl to your cracked lips (with obvious hesitance) - remaining silent and understanding as not a moment later you began to down the soup as if it were your last feast to ever savour.
Your throat throbbed like a bare flame at the sheer speed you swallowed the delicacy, though you couldn't even find it within yourself to care at such a point. All that mattered was that you were safe; safe and relatively well-fed, as opposed to the norm of wandering about in the wild on an empty, growling stomach that pleaded for sustenance every waking moment of the day and night.
"It's a good thing I was able to fish you back out of the ocean after what the Raiden Shogun did," Thoma mused. "You get it? Fish you back out?"
At the flat look you levelled him with, he reconsidered his words immediately.
"Sorry, sorry..."
The overhead lights shining down upon the both of you were bright: so bright, in fact, that your brows furrowed as phantom pain throbbed at your temples. It made it difficult to translate what Thoma was mumbling to you in a quiet pitch, perhaps to lessen the discomfort clear upon your grimaced face.
"I must apologise for how everyone treated you back there, outlander. Even I have to admit that it was quite... harsh considering you don't even seem to be aware of what crime you're committing."
"Crime?" you repeated, a certain tiredness lingering in your sore voice.
The man was silent for a few moments, as if deliberating your demeanour and mannerisms. He placed a hand beneath his chin, glancing over your form that, despite being wrapped up in a soft, warm blanket, shivered at regular intervals.
"As I suspected," he muttered. "It's a mere coincidence that you share similarities with our Majesty, I'm sure. You're not trying to impersonate them at all, are you?"
His manners were so, so different to what you were used to. This was the first time someone had held a civil conversation with you since your tumbling arrival onto Teyvat's land, you realised with a hitched breath. He... he's the first person to really listen to me.
"I don't even know who this Majesty is, Thoma," admitted your wobbling and wavering voice. "All I know is that everyone has been hostile towards me for supposedly impersonating them. I don't... I haven't been..."
A soft, almost indecipherable sob wracked your throat, flaring an ache through your rough and injured vocal cords.
"I-I just want to go back home."
It was as if Thoma himself could feel the anguish you were beginning to experience, echoing within the confines of his mind just through hearing your weak sobs. His eyes softened, and muscled arms built up from years of grueling housework made a move to place themselves upon your shaking shoulders.
In a moment's notice, however, they halted.
"...How do you know my name?"
Huh?
A sense of confusion - but also fear at the way his voice became dangerously low all of a sudden - overtook you. Swallowing a thick lump of mucus and emotion down your throat, you managed to croak out a hesitant response, though with the way it was spoken, it appeared to sound more like a question than a definitive answer.
"E-Everyone knows it...?"
"No, no, no, that isn't true," Thoma murmured. His brows furrowed: a sign that he was to be in deep thought. "Only those from the Yashiro Commission know me, and those that I'm a close contact of. You're not any contact, as far as I'm aware."
Your pulse spiked. From how rapidly your heart now began to beat, truly, it was a miracle that it had not managed to escape your bruised ribcage. Beads of sweat formed at your temples, and you knew it wasn't a consequence of the warmth within (what you assumed to be) Komore Teahouse.
Or was it?
There was an aura now surrounding the man before you; dangerous and worryingly so. The pyro vision clipped to the belt around his waist seemed to burn in accordance with his addled thoughts. A searing heat was emanating from it, too - you had no doubt about it from the way in which your face flushed from the sheer temperature.
"A-Ayaka's the one who told me it!" you stuttered out, managing to at last build up enough nerves to do so. Flowing through your veins was a sudden rush of adrenaline, fueled by the newfound determination and goal you now had in mind.
"Milady was the one who handed you over to the Raiden Shogun in the first place," he refuted; monotone and blank. His sharp, emerald gaze met yours. "She doomed you to Divine Punishment. I see no reason as to why she would give you my name."
I need to get out of here.
The plain mat which you had been laying on shifted across the floor. The blanket that had been wrapped around your shoulders was carelessly thrown to the side. You shot up from your position, removing the items that held a hindrance to your escape. Though pain rippled through your body at the speed in which you did so, it was as if your receptors had become numb to it all.
All you could focus on was the door ahead of you: the exit to this nightmare. Who cared if it were to lead to another group against your entire existence? Anything would be better than being within the radius of Thoma's stifling rage.
A hand grasped your arm.
It was abnormal that Thoma still remained seated upon the ground. A glint of desperation and (what you took to be) madness was present in his wide eyes. "You said you wanted to go back home?" he quizzed, almost pleadingly. "Where is your home?"
"I don't know- Earth?" your reply was; sarcastic in nature yet possessing a hint of anxiety. Your senses, your mind, your soul were each intent on getting out of Komore Teahouse as fast as possible, even as much as your body was.
His tight grasp upon your arm ceased.
"Just like the prophecy said..." he mumbled, a faraway daze entrancing him.
You took advantage of the distraction.
At a speed almost impossible to achieve within usual circumstances, your legs sped away from the man, pumped full of energy and blood. The lights above and down below blurred together until all you could see was yellow. Yellow which formed a halo beneath the door in which you were so close to reaching-
It all dissipated in the span of second. His arm was back again; restricting your movement and holding you in place. Grey filtered out your surroundings until everything was as monochrome as the situation itself was.
Struggling ensued. Attempts to free yourself were made a countless amount of times, though they all led to naught in the end - for when you finally twisted your whole body around, an inch away from reaching the handle of the door, a ruby barrier prevented you from doing so.
Scribed upon the shield encasing you both were murals of boiling flames, shuddering with heat and seemingly alive when things became clearer. Nipping at your skin, you realised with a start that though the pain they caused was minimal, it was as if they served a warning to you.
There's no escape, they seemed to say.
Thoma's arms surrounded you once again: they were impossible to get rid of this time. They held tight, despite the pushing, shoving and thrashing you aimed at them out of sheer desperation. Escape was now starting to become an outlandish concept with each second that ticked by.
Hands curled around your waist. They pulled back, bringing along with them your body and hope of freedom. As soon as your back made contact with the ground, his hands descended, making sure that you were indeed held down enough not to warrant another try of escape.
"What are you-?"
"Ssshh..." he hushed, leaning close to make sure his words were heard. "Sshh, it's okay."
"Let me go!" you shouted, gripping his arms with sharp, pointed nails. You could see harsh indents and grooves making themselves prominent against his clear skin.
"No no no, I can't do that, your Majesty," he rambled on. "Those people out there... they haven't realised your true identity yet. They haven't... they don't know how precious you truly are."
"Thoma, I'm not this God that all of Teyvat keeps thinking I'm impersonating-"
"Barbatos and the others always said you'd be weakened once you returned to Teyvat. I just never thought that what would be lost was your memory, not your power."
There was further warmth surrounding you now, and with a frantic glance down, you were able to identify that its cause was a familiar, soft blanket being wrapped around your form. Whereas when you had awoken it had been a comforting material, now, it only served to keep you further docile.
"If I'm this supposed God, then why don't you let me go-!"
"Thoma! The hell is all that ruckus in there? You havin' a guest over or somethin'?" a stranger's voice called out; muffled and quiet from behind the door leading to the rest of Komore Teahouse.
The pyro user craned his neck up, facing it in the direction of the (most likely) Inazuman citizen. His features, housing a mad grin and desperate gaze, twisted into something more innocent within a few seconds. His tone of voice changed from pleading to carefree as he airily responded, "Yep! Just an important guest that I have over, no need to worry!"
A shiver ran down your spine at the display of such talented duplicity.
Green met your angered eyes, which shone with unshed tears that threatened to escape at any moment. You glared at Thoma, trying as hard as you could to convey the sheer disbelief that was pumping within your concentrated blood.
This wasn't what you wanted. You would've preferred any other consequence than the one you were trapped with now; no way out, and no way for anyone to come in, either.
"A very important guest," he continued on, whispering so that the citizen could no longer hear his words. "Your Majesty, I need to keep you safe from those heathens out there. Who knows what other unspeakable crimes they'll commit towards you?"
The blanket was tugged tighter around you; the shield he had created with his vision became even more stifling in the already-humid environment of Komore Teahouse.
"You'll be safe here, your Grace."
He gently grasped at one of your hands, ladled with bruises and cuts of every sort. A thumb grazed over them, carefully so as to not rouse anymore needless pain. As if an afterthought, he then proceeded to lean forward, kissing right atop a particularly scarring blister.
"I must once again apologise on their behalf," Thoma finally murmured, lips pressed against the skin of your hand as his own shook with concealed rage. "What they did to you..."
His head inclined downwards, similar to how it would have if he were positioned in a bow.
"...I'll make sure it never happens again."

Being Close To You - Izuku Midoriya x Reader
Prompt: Izuku helping Reader with simple tasks, like brushing their hair, or putting on jewelry, where it’s obviously an excuse to be close to each other, but neither are complaining.
AU Idea from: https://atsuzaki-playground.neocities.org/
[Fluff] (One-shot) (NOT BETA READ)
Word Count: 3,207(?) words
“Good morning,” he grunts out the first words that almost always start off your day. Izuku is right next to you with his hand wrapped around your waist. My gem is up, he thought as soon as your eyes connected.
He lifts his hand to cup one of your cheeks before planting a kiss on your forehead. Mm, that feels nice, you appreciate the gesture. You both are under the covers enjoying the mini morning routine. You hum in response before returning the greeting.
“We should probably get up, huh?” you sigh, not entirely ready to wake up. The bed, especially with him, was too comfortable to leave. He nods, along with letting out a small chuckle. Too cute, he thought.
Before you were forced to, Izuku reaches over to lift the covers off of you. He continues to hold your hand so you both simultaneous get off the bed. His touch lingers even after he lets go.
After freshening up, you start making breakfast while Izuku worked on the drinks.
“Will you get off late today?” you question without any malice. You knew Izuku had to come home late many times due to his busy schedule, but it didn’t bother you. After all, he’s working hard towards what he loves and values. As long as he comes home safe, I'm content.
Placing the two empty plates on the table, you look towards him for an answer. He walks near you with two mugs in his hand.
“I don’t think so,” he smiles as he hands you your drink. After thanking him, you take your first sip. You hum and nod at the taste of the familiar delicious drink.
You noticed him taking a look at his focused eyes when reading the emails and messages. Hm, his eyes look different.
Remembering to place the food on the table, you set down your drink and head to grab the items. Granted with the amount created, you didn’t need help with laying out the food. There were eggs, miso soup, a small bowl of pickled vegetables, some rice and leftover fish. Izuku, however, seemed to have a different idea.
“Here,” his hands touch your hands, which were holding the small plate of eggs and bowl of soup, to take the dishes himself. Every time you came close to the table with the food, he had done the same. Hm... A smile picks up on your face at his behavior. It was pretty typical of him to always want to assist.
What you didn’t know was that, it was mainly because he wanted to feel close to you before both of you left for work (for who knows how long). Despite working in the same building, your floors were different, as well as your schedule. For normal days, you came home in the afternoon, while he came home well after the sun had set.
As it was time to leave, Izuku entered the room to see you preparing your hair. While you concentrate on your looks, he sneaks up behind you and takes away the brush in your hand. Another chance taken, Izuku thought. You can see his big smile on the mirror. He continues to take the item and brushes through your hair gently. He makes sure to not painfully tug your hair. Closing your eyes, you feel his hand comb through your hair. You were confused but loved it regardless. It must be me, you thought.
“Up up,” he taps your shoulders to indicate that his is finished. Standing up and turning around, you look at his work.
“Not bad, Izuku,” you were impressed with the way he styled your hair. He shyly chuckles and sets the brush down.
“Let’s go,” he says, reaching for the car keys on the wall. You nod and walk beside him.
Even when driving the car, Izuku’s hands continuously switched from the gears to your hand (only during red lights and stops because safety). He laid his hand on top of yours whenever it was free. You didn’t say much because those lingering touches made your heart flutter. It was actions like these that represent Izuku as a lover. An open but quiet lover. In return, you’d hold his hand between the both of yours. Sadly, as soon as you reached your destination, you had to let go. Bummer. After exchanging goodbyes, you both head over to your different floors.
After a pretty relaxing day, you weren’t too tired once you got home. Like usual, Jirou drove you home before heading off to her own apartment. It did, however, feel empty without him. He wasn’t there to greet you or smile at you. Though, it was exciting to know that he probably won’t be home too late. Feeling a little giddy, you decided to cook a meal that both can enjoy. Preparation was going fine. You managed to make one of the dishes and set out the beverages. He would be arriving a little less than half an hour later. Your playlist filled the kitchen walls and the aroma of the food was incredible.
Izuku quietly shut the door behind him whilst setting the keys on the key hook. One step in and he was relieved to be home. He truly missed you and wanted to be able to hold you in his arm. His watches you work your way around the kitchen preparing the second and last dish. Adorable, he thought. He made his way towards you. His set his chin on your should while wrapping his arms around your waist.
"I'm home," his eyes were gleaming. You smiled at his surprisingly early arrival.
"Welcome back, Izuku. How about you go change and freshen up? The food will be done by then," you told him. He slightly pouts having to separate himself from you. He liked holding you in his arms. You chuckle at his dejected sigh when he unwraps his arms.
He walks into the room with a towel in his hand, attempting to dry his hair. You set the plates down then decided to walk over to where he was standing. Taking the towel from his grip, you help him dry his hair. He was surprised at first but it made his heart flutter. The little gestures you two share really are special. My heart's going to beat out of my darn chest, Izuku thought as his face was luckily covered by the cloth.
You set the damp towel on the rack behind him and ruffle his hair. You hum to let him know he is good to go.
"Thank you! Also, thank you for the food. It smells amazing," he said holding you wrist in his hand. He takes you to the table and you two begin to eat.
After the meal, both of you sit down on the couch. You listen to him tell you about his day. He did have hero work but the crimes weren't major ones. The teenage boy trapped inside of a glass box accidentally made by his four year old sister, who happened to receive her quirk then, was safe. The old lady was able to be saved from the petty thief. The few reports he had to complete were finished quickly. He, too, listens to your day at work.
His eyes held such respect for your hard work. No matter the mission, he felt proud of your achievements. Today, you managed to uncover the identity of the anonymous man known for blackmailing fresh graduate heroes into resigning. You, his gem, did not even let such great achievements corrupt you. Due to the recent vacation of a co-worker, you also offered to take up a part of their assignment. His hand was on your forearm rubbing random squiggles while he looked at you.
“Yeah, I didn’t mind completing the extra task. Today’s work was pretty light so I was glad I got something to do,” you said.
All of a sudden Izuku gets an idea and goes into deep thought.
“What happened?” you question, noticing his eyes wandering into nothing.
“Huh? Oh. I was thinking... Are you up for walking outside? It’s been a while since we got to go on a relaxing walk together,” he replies. Looking at his hopeful eyes, you also felt giddy remembering the days you both walked around the serene place and chatted.
"I'd really like that. Give me a minute, let me grab a sweater. It might get a little chilly," you get up from the couch and head to your room. As you grab your sweater, you decide to grab Izuku's, as well. You wouldn't want him to get sick.
Returning to the living room, you see Izuku putting on his shoes. He signals that he has the house keys at hand. You go near him and hand him his sweater.
"Oh, thank you," he smiles at your kind act. You nod and quickly slip on your shoes.
You put on your sweater and reach down toward the zipper. But before you can zip up your sweater, Izuku takes action and does it for you. He grins when he reaches the top. He then lowers his hand to grab yours and you both head out.
The place was quiet and relaxing, just like you remember. It's been almost a month since you came to walk here. With hectic and random schedules, there isn't much time for it these day. However, when there is a day with more time on hand, you both makes sure to make the most of it. Some days, it is staying in and relaxing. On other days, it is going out to a place of interest.
"Great to have this again. I'm glad you remembered," you said, looking at your partner. You were walking together, hand in hand, and enjoying each other's presence.
"I am too."
"Oh, I almost forgot! Have you-Omph," you suddenly tripped and landed on you knees. Ouch.
"Crap! Are you okay?!" Izuku exclaimed. He quickly helps you get back up. You weren't hurt but boy was that a fall.
"I'm good, I'm good." You look at your feet and realized the problem. You didn't get to tie your shoes earlier. Izuku follows your eyes and chuckles at your mistake.
"Here," he leans down and grabs the shoe laces. He ties the bow and give your foot a little tap. Once he gets up, you ruffle his hair.
"Thank you," you say before locking your hands again. Izuku felt his heart swell at the return of your warmth back in his palm.
You gather yourself before continuing your conversation before you fell. Throughout the entire walk, Izuku rubs the back of your hand with his thumb. He also occasionally readjusted the position of your hold to secure it. You smile every time he does so.
"It did get colder towards the end of the walk," you said while entering the door. Izuku was right behind you closing the door.
"How about we watch the show we start two days ago?" he swiftly hangs up his jacket before standing in front of you.
At this point, you expected this. Still, your warm face and avoidant eyes did not help hide your inner panic of having him near you. His grin lightly mocked your state. He clearly knew what he was doing.
"Sure, but let's freshen up first," you get out of the jacket and he places them into the closet.
"Got it, Captain," he lightly grazed your chin with his index finger before heading to your shared room.
You place your face on the wall, melting into embarrassment. He know what he's doing!
Granted, you've both have known each other since high school and have been in a relationship for two years, but his sudden actions still caught you off-guard.
You wipe the residual water off your face and make your way to the living room, where Izuku had the paused the show. You wave the blanket in your hand and make your way to the couch. The blanket was large enough to cover both of you (allowing maximum closeness according to Izuku). You lay right next to him as he plays the show.
The night was full of small discussions after each episode, subtle touches, and adjusted positions. His habit of analyzing was still prevalent.
"Well, I think that's what's going to happen next episode," he ends, placing the bottom of his fist on his palm. You look up at him since your head was now in his lap.
"That's a really interesting take. I might have to agree with you on that one," you take one of his out-of-place hair strand and comb it back into place with your fingers.
Hypnotized by his hair, yet again, you play with his hair. Both of you quiet down. The TV ending theme playing in the background kept the room from being entirely silent. Izuku closes his eyes, relishing the feeling of your hands in his hair. His hand rubs the clothed skin just above your waist while you do so.
"I envy your hair," you comment after a while. You feel slightly bad when Izuku seems to have broken out of his blissful trance.
"Hm? Oh, I remember you said that during our second year at UA." He still remembers?! Well, not surprised but... I would not re-live it.
"Yeah, I have back then and still do. It's so... fluffy and soft," you gushed.
"You said 'Deku, please don't be creeped out, but what's the secret to your hair. And how can I have it in my life?'" he laughed after finishing the quote.
"Don't remind me!" You stood up laughing with him.
"It's even more embarrassing when I remember that I said it right when the class quiet down and Mr. Aizawa was standing in the middle of the room. Everyone heard it," you cringed.
Izuku cups your face and comes up close, claiming, "But that did increase my confident in asking you out in our final year."
"Glad you did," you place your hands over his and softly bump your foreheads together.
As you both got into bed, Izuku laid his hand out. He gestures his head to hint for you to perform and action. Confused but curious, you tap it. He opens his fist displaying the vitamin pill that was recently (just two days ago) assigned by your doctor.
"Oh, right," you grab the water near you as Izuku places the pill in the palm of your hand.
Gulping down the pill, you wonder if Izuku was aware of his actions. You knew what was coming. He had always done this, whether it was unconscious or not. You never brought it up, neither did he. This must be why his eyes were different when he read the email. What did I do to have you in my life?
"So," he began, scratching the back of his head.
"Remember how we started the city-wide mission? All the crazy research, building-to-building outings, and paperwork you had to do?" he asked holding your hand. You nod, in return.
He sighs, "Well, you made it much easier for our agency to get with other ones for us to proceed to the next step."
"And?" You knew there was more. Your tone was gentle and warm. Izuku always knew you'd never get angry at him for this.
"Well, in the morning, I was notified that I have to leave for the mission tomorrow at 7 PM. And I'm not sure when I will return," he is slow with the reveal. There it is.
The criminals were on the higher level. He might be gone for at least a week, you thought.
"Congrats, Izuku! I'm glad you're finally able to continue with it," you reassure him.
You tilt your head a little and place one of your hands onto his cheek, "I know have said this before, but I'll say it again. Don't ever feel bad for news like this. All I wish for is for you and everyone else to return as safe as possible."
"I know. And I could never thank you enough for being understanding of it."
"Same goes for you, Izuku."
"Besides, Dynamight must be elated to start the mission properly. Let's match his energy, shall we?" Izuku chuckled when you mention Katsuki's name.
"Do you have an upcoming outside missions?" he asks.
"Currently, I do not, but the research I did today suggests one. I highly doubt it will be immediately after you return, but you never know," you respond. That's kind of a relief, he thought. He wanted you to be here when he return, but also understood if there were to be a change of events.
"Now, now," he was caught off-guard when you swiftly, but gently pushed his head down onto his pillow.
"You need to go to sleep and get plenty of rest. You will sleep in, while I make breakfast and your mission lunchbox. Free extra spicy one for Dynamight too," you lay down right next to him, placing your arms around him and getting as close as you can.
"Alright, alright. Goodnight, gem," your heart flutters at the nickname.
"Goodnight, love," he tightens his hold, wanting to cherish it as much as he can. Who knew how many nights he'll have spend without your presence?
You both knew how to live without each other. However, having each other simply made life better. It gave you both extra support and confidence.
You both were two independent individuals who were able to accomplish creating your own names. You were a duo, but respected separately, as well. (Though, there was nothing wrong at all with being only known as a duo or group.) With your circumstances, there was no set plan for your daily life. It was those lingering and comforting touches and gestures that leaves a reminder of your partner. That he's constantly shown his love and support. That he'd be there for you and he knew you'd be there for him.
You both made an effort to build this relationship. Every day does not need to be full of kisses, cuddles, and big conversations. It was the simple 'Good morning! I'll be very busy today, but take care of yourself' text he'd send before you see him the following morning. It was the giant lunchbox you packed him the day before knowing he'll be on a mission with currently-still-single Katsuki and Shinsou. It was the cup of your liked beverage on the counter, before he had quickly leave in the morning.
This time it was another big mission. You knew his bags was already packed, since you both decided to have ready-to-go suitcase full of clothes for longer missions. Izuku knew you're set on making him (and Katsuki) a lunchbox full of food. You already knew he'd give you a kiss and say "Take care of yourself" before heading out. You both knew can call each other, if time allows to do so.
You both beautifully applied habits and actions that made your relationship one you were proud of. The relationship required work, dedication, and understanding, which you both gladly gave.
You both were lovers satisfied with the rhythm you two created.

— haikyuu characters and what they’d do to help you sleep ♡
— feat. akaashi, atsumu, bokuto, hinata, kageyama, kita, osamu, suna, and tsukishima
— contains: gn!reader, established relationships, food mentions, slight manga spoilers, & slight crack bc that's just how it is <3
— a/n: this is for my beloved insomniacs, and here's my first headcanon !! LETSGOOO <3 i hope u enjoy and pls reblog if u liked it !! part 2 is up now╰(*´︶`*)╯♡
Tumblr media
⇨ 𝐀𝐊𝐀𝐀𝐒𝐇𝐈 reads you a book !! have you heard of his voice ?? SO soothing which will lull you to sleep <3 he asks you what book you want him to read but he sometimes insists on reading you stories you haven't heard before, just because he knows you'll love what he picks. sometimes would make fun of you and would search the web to read smut. he says it'll make you uncomfy and force you to sleep. you know the ones that are so explicit? yeah, we won't elaborate on that. don't ask me how he reads them with a straight face. "akaashi, please stop" "but this is really good" "yeah but i wouldn't be able to take you seriously" "then i'll read more passionately" "babe if you don't sTOP-"
⇨ 𝐀𝐓𝐒𝐔𝐌𝐔 is SO hyper. mans still has energy after volleyball practice and doesn't hesitate to ask you if you "wanna pillow fight?" ?? then proceeds to hit you before you even begin to talk. you gasp in shock as he hits your face so you try to hit him back, but the way he sways his pillow onto you is so strong which overpowers your will to do so. how strong is this man anyway ?? his last hit makes you fall back onto the bed, then he lays down beside you to trap you in his arms. "you tired?" "yes, 'tsumu, now let me go" "no" "you should've just asked if you wanted to cuddle so we can sleep" baby just wanted snuggies after all :')
⇨ 𝐁𝐎𝐊𝐔𝐓𝐎 asks "you can't sleep? mE TOO" then turns the TV on to watch a movie with you <3 he storms out the room before the movie starts and grabs a bowl of popcorn on the way back and you chose not to mind the ones that fell on the floor when he ran back to you. he likes cuddles and initiates to be the big spoon bc he wants you to be comfy. he'd pick a romcom so both of you would feel light-hearted before sleeping. but really, it's just an excuse for him to avoid watching horror movies with you, and you insist otherwise. "bo, why don't you want to watch a horror movie anyway?" "i'd be too scared to sleep" "but i'm here?" "i have you and me that i have to protect from ghosts ok" i can imagine him instantly standing up just when he hears a strange noise coming out of nowhere HFJSDGF A BIG BABY
⇨ 𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐓𝐀 is really excited to hear that you can't sleep because he was too hyper to do so. will ask you if you wanted to bike with him. bike ?? but he insists Miyagi's roads are safe to stroll around at night. he grabs the two bikes for you and both of you start to talk about life under the starry night <3 "what do you think of my spikes" "hinata, you ask me this literally everyday" "but you give me the best compliments!!" "fine, you're really good. but next time don't hit kageyama's head while serving" "you don't have to bring that up!!1!" all the cycling made you tired, so as you get back home, you feel drowsy and tired enough to fall asleep, and he is as well <3
⇨ 𝐊𝐀𝐆𝐄𝐘𝐀𝐌𝐀 tells you that it’s good to drink milk before sleeping. he actually does this and you notice that he’s fast asleep afterwards (when does he ever not drink milk anyways ??). whenever you tell him you can’t sleep, he makes sure that there’s a stock of milk cartons in the fridge just to make sure to never run out <3 “i can’t sleep” “how about you drink your milk” “but i'm gonna feel full” “well i’m not one who has a messed up sleep schedule, boke” he didn’t have to call you out like that 😔 but he got out of bed to pour you a glass of milk regardless <3
⇨ 𝐊𝐈𝐓𝐀 is really strict with you since he knows how sleep is important to you. he will NOT hesitate to wait for you to say that you can’t sleep. instead, he would give you lavender-scented candles and an eye mask before bedtime. he also cooks you boiled eggs since he says it helps with the melatonin, but will give you a tart cherry juice instead if you preferred not to eat <3 vERY responsible boyfriend, don't argue with me on this !! he'd also tell you to do the 4-7-8 breathing technique if you still can't sleep. "are you sure this will help?" "Obachan told me about this technique and it makes me fall asleep faster, try it" then proceeds to cuddle you whilst you do it. before you know it, you're already fast asleep !! although you'd have to ask him the next day about which helped you sleep faster <3
⇨ 𝐎𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐔 insists to cook you something. you told him you were too hungry to sleep, so he brings you to the kitchen so you can watch him cook :') he says ramen is too heavy to digest at night so he cooks you miso soup instead !! this soup contains a lot of benefits so he's more than glad to offer you something that will be good for you <3 you watch him prepare all the ingredients before putting it altogether like magic. even if you don't like miso, the way he cooks it will be a life-changer for you because this man not only cooks, he cooks with passion !! you both devour the carefully-made soup then head back to your room to prepare to sleep <3 "did you like it?" "i did, 'samu, it tasted really good" "don't make yourself hungry before bedtime next time" but really, you just can't resist his perfect food recipes <3
⇨ 𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐀 shows you his stolen pics of the team (especially atsumu LOL) which makes you both laugh so hard your cheeks and stomachs hurt !! he would also tell you the backstory of each picture so you would know the context. there are several questionable scenes, one of which is kita massaging his forehead in the background while atsumu flashes his butt to the team inside the locker room. another one is a blurred selfie with the team in the background dancing to tiktok songs. "and if you look closely, you'll see a disappointed aran" "i bet this was atsumu's idea" "yeah, especially this one song where you throw it back." both of you get exhausted with the laughing and cackling so you finally fall asleep afterwards, with his arm around your waist <3
⇨ 𝐓𝐒𝐔𝐊𝐈𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐌𝐀 gives you his giant dinosaur plushie. you’d be confused at first, because he doesn’t let anyone, not even yamaguchi, touch those plushies he cherishes very dearly. he actually has to choose since he has a ton of these in different dinosaur species. you know this, because he snuggles with different ones every night. you know that meme with the girlfriend sleeping with her 500 dollar four foot tall mareep? yep, that’s the sitch 😔 heart been broke so many times. BUT tsukishima is actually sweet enough to let you hold his plushies. “tsukki,, i can’t sleep” “here, have this T-rex” “but you don’t let anyone touch your plushies” “these help me sleep and it’s you anyways, take it” 🥺🥺🥺 then he insists to put the plushie between you both so he can cuddle it as well. tsukki said sharing is caring <3

-
Nights like these, you’ve learned to tune them out. It sounds like a ringing in your ear as you watch your parents gesture around angrily at each other as you sat on the couch, thinking of ways you could escape to your room.
It was always like this. Your dad would come home drunk and your mom would always get angry at him for it. You didn’t know why they always seemed to rope you into these arguments, but it wasn’t like you could stop them from keeping your name out of their mouths—they never listened to you anyway.
They always blamed you. Using you to throw all of their problems onto, acting as if it would relieve some of their problems. Deep down, you knew it wasn’t because of you, but it didn’t stop you from questioning if they were right.
Somehow, you managed to escape to your room, muffling their voices further as you shut the door. Days like these, you felt alone.
A ding beside you snapped you out of your thoughts before you reached over to grab your phone—it was Bakugou.
‘I’m at the convenience store by your house, did you want something?’
It was like Bakugou was your guardian angel. He always seemed to be there when you needed it the most, especially when you were reaching out silently. Your heart was so full of love for him, he was too good.
‘I’m not feeling great, can we hang out a bit?’ you hated being so negative with Bakugou, but right now, the only thing you wanted was him. And not even 30 seconds later, he replied.
‘I’ll be there in five minutes’ And like he said, five minutes later, he was outside. Slipping in a sweater, you made your way back into the living room, where your parents continued to argue.
“I’m going out,” you say, not bothering to check if they heard—not that it mattered.
Shutting the door behind you, you immediately press yourself against Bakugou’s chest, taking in his presence and his scent. His muscular arms wrap around you gently as you let out a heavy sigh. You never wanted to leave the safe place of his arms.
“Are your parents arguing again?” Bakugou questions and all you could do was nod. “I just needed to get out of there.” He lets out a hum, rubbing your back with his free hand before gently pulling away to reach into his bag. “I thought this would cheer you up.”
Your eyes lock onto the meat bun in his hands before you give him an embarrassed smile, “Why do you always assume food would make me feel better?” you say, taking to meat bun from his hands.
“Cause I know it does, and I know you love that shit,” Bakugou intertwines his large one with yours as the two of you walk down the street in a comfortable silence. “Can I stay the night at your place?”
“Wouldn’t your parents get upset?” he asks, but you shrug. “I’d rather get in trouble staying over at yours than to hear them arguing until the sun rises.”
Bakugou didn’t want to be the cause of trouble headed your way, but you seemed determined to get out. Letting you stay over was the least he could do.
“Do you think your parents would mind?” You ask, glancing up at him for an answer only to feel him squeeze your hand gently, “You know they love having you over.”
“Yeah, but it’s a bit late for me to be coming over and especially on such short notice,” and before you could worry any more, Bakugou leaned over to press a kiss onto your lips before facing forward once more.
“Just let it happen. You’re not a bother to us, I mean it.”
It didn’t take long before the two of you arrived at the Bakugou household. You’ve always enjoyed being around his family, even if he and his mom bickered. It was out of love and not pure hatred.
“I’m back and I brought (Name). She’s staying the night,” Bakugou announced from the door as the two of you placed your shoes neatly on the floor before walking into the living room.
“Nice to see you, (Name),” Masaru greeted with a smile from the couch as you gave him a polite bow, “Thank you for having me. I apologize for coming so suddenly.”
“Don’t be! It’s nice to have another lady in the house and we love having you over!” Mitsuki exclaimed as she walked out from the kitchen, coming over to hug you. “It’s refreshing to have you over and Katsuki’s so much calmer when you’re here!”
You give her a smile and a giggle when you hear Bakugou yelling beside you. “I think it’s the other way around. I feel so much more calm and relaxed with Katsuki,” you say, earning an embarrassing pout from him. “I don’t know what I would do without him.”
-
It was just past midnight and the Bakugou household was now dark and quiet, not a sound to be heard other than the soft mingled breathing of you and Bakugou.
“Close your eyes and go to sleep,” Bakugou mumbles as you stare up at him, eyes wide and very much awake. Even with his eyes closed, he could feel your eyes focused on him.
“I like looking at you,” you confess before Bakugou wrapped his arms around you, pressing you tight against his chest. Each beat of his heart brought you closer to sleep as your eyes slowly drifted shut. Bakugou rubbing your back comfortably to soothe you to sleep.
“Do you think I’m a bad person?” you question and Bakugou furrows his brows in response. “I mean, my parents always blame me for their arguments. Am I doing something wrong?”
“It’s not you who is doing anything wrong,” Bakugou continues, “your parents just don’t want to put the blame on themselves. You know it’s not you.” You nod but couldn’t help the sigh that escaped your lips, “I know, but it doesn’t help to hear it daily.”
“Thanks for bringing me here,” your soft voice tickles his chest gently, your fingers running along his arm. “I wish I could live with you,” you say quietly and Bakugou hums in response, “I know.”
“Maybe someday?”
“Mhm.”
Even in his drowsy state, Bakugou meant it. Smiling, you snuggle deeper in his arms with a content sigh. You wished every night could end like this.
-
The sounds of dishes rattling in the kitchen stirred you awake from your sleep as you curled into your side, hoping to meet the warm chest of your boyfriend. But, his side of the bed was cold and empty. Opening your still tired eyes, you looked around to be met with a room void of Bakugou.
Throwing your feet over the bed and onto the cold hardwood floor, Bakugou’s voice suddenly came from the doorway. “I was just about to come to wake you up,” he states, earning a pout from you.
“I would’ve liked to have been woken up with you by my side,” you whine but walk over to slump yourself against his body, already feeling the drowsiness once more.
Bakugou’s chest rumbles as he lets out a chuckle. “Hurry up and get ready so we can eat breakfast,” he finishes, kissing you on the forehead before ushering you to the bathroom.
Walking into the bathroom, you stared at your toothbrush that Bakugou had kept for you. “Because you always forget your toothbrush,” he would say, but you knew he always had a spare for you.
Cleaning up your appearance, you walked over towards the dining table where the Bakugou’s were waiting for you happily and warmly like always. “Sit down, we’re so happy that you’re able to join us for breakfast,” Mitsuki says as you take a seat beside Bakugou.
“Would you like some tea?” Masaru offers and you nod, taking the cup politely. “Don’t be shy, dig in (Name).” He says, chopsticks already in his hands.
Glancing down, everything looked delicious. There was a bowl of miso soup beside your small bowl of rice, a plate of salmon that already had your mouth watering and a steaming meat bun beside you.
“Katsuki had told me that you loved meat buns, so we had one heat up for you,” Mitsuki comments as she saw the way you eyed the meat bun. “He tells me a lot about you.”
“Hey! Shut your trap!” Bakugou snarls and Mitsuki shoots back, “Don’t talk to your mother that way! Just say you’re in love with (Name) and go!”
That seemed to shut Bakugou up. His arms crossed with a pout on his lips, but you didn’t miss the blush that adorned his cheeks and ears. His father chuckles before turning towards you, “That boy is wrapped around your finger though, (Name).”
Mitsuki giggles at Bakugou before they continue to banter at each other playfully. Masaru enjoying his breakfast whole heatedly with his family.
It was different, you thought as you watched them. How a family could be so loving towards each other, so full of love.
“This...This is really nice,” you say with a soft smile as your hands wrap around the bowl of miso soup. “I’ve never had a family breakfast like this before,” you confess shyly. “My family is never happy like this, so thank you for showing me what a loving family is supposed to look like.”
Bakugou’s eyes slightly widen at you from your sudden confession and before he could move or do anything, his mom spoke up. “Sweetie, know you’re always welcomed here! You’re already apart of our family!” she says and Masaru gives you an approving nod.
You couldn’t help the widening smile on your lips as you hunch in on yourself shyly, “I can’t thank Katsuki enough for giving me this. For bringing me so much happiness.”
Underneath the table, Bakugou’s hands seek out yours before giving you three firm squeezes as to silently say:
I love you.
