A snail is climbing up the window-sill into your room, after a night of rain. You call me in to see, and I explain that it would be unkind to leave it there: it might crawl to the floor; we must take care that no one squashes it. You understand, and carry it outside, with careful hand, to eat a daffodil.

I see, then, that a kind of faith prevails: your gentleness is moulded still by words from me, who have trapped mice and shot wild birds, from me, who drowned your kittens, who betrayed your closest relatives, and who purveyed the harshest kind of truth to many another. But that is how things are: I am your mother, and we are kind to snails.

does the whole election/pogtopia/lmanburg explosion thing happen in the oyn! universe?

ive been thinking

i have thought so much about this because im honestly undecided.

i do think the election would still happen, but the thing is. is that wilbur promised himself he wouldnt make the same mistakes he made with fundy, which means he feels much more obligated to try and be a present father.

it all comes down to his mental health. because i think that if reader is supportive and there for wilbur, but helps keep him grounded, allows him to talk, and cares about his mental health, i think the outcome would be far different.

especially because, i think in this case, he wouldn’t see lmanburg as an unfinished symphony, because it’s the free country he made that his daughter was born in. he cant fathom destroying the place his daughter was born, the place she grew up.

i honestly think a big part of it would come down to if he got help and support, and how true he would want to be to his promise to tallulah. because he actually has people relying on him far more now, and that can be an added stress if his mental health isnt taken care of.

this is not to say a daughter and a partner can save your mental health, because. thats just not true. but i think it would change wilbur’s interpretation of events, especially in regards to how he takes back lmanburg, the precious place his daughter was born
