for the art trademark thing people have mentioned your wonderful line weight & texture which is v v true ofc but I want to say your clothing!!!!!!!! the way you get the pattern and like. stiffness and folds of it and Particularly the Shape to feel SO right and SO natural and (where applicable) SO period continually has me in awe
aaa I am extremely !!! to hear that from you because you too have an amazing command of the Shapes of Historical Garments which I am always trying to emulate when I can!!
...the secret to how I do fabric is that I mainly draw things that I have a vague understanding of how to Make! so that way I have some knowledge of where the seams are supposed to be and how the piece of fabric is fitting around a person inside of it, which is helpful when I am trying to figure out how things move in 3d space. and then I put the shoulder seams in the wrong place anyway...
#answers from the cupola#and the follow-up to that secret is why there are lots of things that I dearly love but don't really Draw About in their natural state#in fact that's why flintlock fortress Exists in the first place... I love the way the tf2 guys are designed but their clothes make no sense#third secret is that 'only draws clothes I already Get' means that everything can be a little same-y but also you do improve via that#this does remind me that I do have a book on constructing tudor garments and should be Looking at it#esp. since I have been wanting to work more on my late-16th-century oc project...
