Like u can absolutely predict his bullshit all the time, just imagine the most adrenaline junkie thing he could do in that moment with the combination of things around him and you always know what tf he's up to, ur always right lol

Ur the only one who can get him to stop the chaos (besides maybe Time, weirdly enough Sky/Hyrule/Four bc they are the least likely to tell him to stop, so when they do, its usually a very, very bad idea)

Likes hair ornaments, he's got long hair for a reason after all

Likes u to style his hair, and esp if u teach him how to braid or do diff styles <333

He loves that u help cook/at least prep, and u make sure another Link helps too, bc thats a lot of ppl to make food for with little to no help 💀

The house was in chaos, but what else is new? 

Steve can't even keep track of what day of the week it is, so it was a very real possibility (or entirely one hundred percent a fact) that he forgot to change the wet clothes from the washing machine into the dryer last night.

As Steve stands up, brushing a stray baby hair that fell from Nora’s headband, she peers up at him looking like his little girl and an adult all at the same time as she asks, “Ready to watch me kick some Cougar’s butts?”

He laughs and Grace cheers, causing Liv to join in and run around in a circle whooping and tugging on your jeans. Your hand falls to your stomach, not really showing at all yet, but your habit of resting it there from past pregnancies already returning. You smile at your daughters before making eye contact with him, nodding towards the front door with a roll of your eyes, “Well what are we waiting for? Time to go watch the best team in Indiana!”

“Steve, come on, I can just hold her,” you huff as you lean against the car, watching Robin push Grace and Liv on the swings across the parking lot.

“Ah, but an efficient dork. This way my hands are free for foam fingers and popcorn. Plus it’s practice. What’s gonna happen when it’s park day and we have two that can’t walk and one of us is at work?” he snaps the band over his shoulder with a grin and raises his eyebrows.

“Would you like some help?” you ask with your arms crossed, hiding your amusement as he huffs and nods.

Annoyed at her use of the nickname and ready to argue with her, he’s interrupted when you turn with both girls' hands in yours to look over your shoulder and you frown. Any sweet moment the two of you just shared over as you scold, “Steve! Did you just tell her?!”

Steve holds up his hands, eyes widening, “No, no, no, I-”

You narrow your eyes and his voice squeaks, “She guessed!” he hits Robin’s shoulder with the back of his hand, “Right? You guessed. Tell her that I didn’t tell you.”

“Ouch,” Robin hisses and then shrugs, enjoying the game, “I don’t know, did I guess Steve? Or did you just confirm a suspicion?”

Steve can see the steam coming out of your ears and Robin winces, hands motioning just like Steve’s, “No really, I did guess. Not his fault. Can I get you a pretzel? How about a Sprite? You look beautiful today, doesn’t she, Steve?”

You roll your eyes and walk away with the girls and Steve’s shoulders slump, and Robin pat his arm, whispering as they trailed in behind you, “What the hell did you do to her?”

He looks at the back of your head and then at Robin and shrugs before whispering, “I don’t know, but I think a mini version of myself is coming out this time.”

Robin shivers, making a gagging noise, “Ew, gross, don’t say-”

“Aunt Robin!” Nora shouts, waving wildly from her spot on the bench. 

Robin screams, waving just as frantically and holds up two thumbs before blowing a kiss that Nora jumps up to catch. 

As you sit, Liv wastes no time, crawling onto you, her foot digging into your stomach as she maneuvers to a comfy yet restless position and Steve winces, “Baby, why don’t you come sit on Aunt Robin’s lap?”

You frown, “Steve, I’m fine,” but Liv is already crawling across your lap and into Robin’s who takes her arms and waves them and gets her shouting for Nora too. Grace standing on the bleacher next to her, holding up a sign decked out in glitter that’s raining on the people in front of her as she waves it back and forth too quickly. 

You’re on your feet suddenly, making your way past him and he grabs your wrist, “Wait, where are you going?”

Glaring at him, you remove your wrist, “To go get a Ginger-ale.”

He starts to stand, “Are you not feeling good? I can get it, you sit and-”

“Steve, I also have to pee, are you going to do that for me too?”

He sits, pulling his cheek in and nods once, “Right. Have fu-good lu-” he closes his eyes and shakes his head and nods again as you leave the stands. 

Robin whistles, “Dude, this is bad. I haven’t seen you this frazzled since before you started dating.”

Steve slumps against Robin, forehead to her shoulder, “I don’t know if she’s actually pissed or it’s just the-” his voice drops quieter, “hormones, or-”

Liv spins in her lap and pulls at his cheek and he smiles until she grins back and shouts, “Pissed!”

Grace gasps, “Daddy! Liv just said-”

Steve straightens, finger pointing at her, “I know! Don’t repeat it!” he boops Liv’s nose, “Not a good word. Don’t repeat.”

Liv grins, opening her mouth and before she can say it again, Robin blows a raspberry into her neck, distracting her in perfect time to you climbing the stairs with Dustin and Eddie behind you. 

Julie has a hold of his fingers and you smirk, “So much for free hands.”

Dustin stops in front of him, “You look like a mega dork.”

Steve pushes the bill of his hat down, “Takes one to know one.”

Eddie and Dustin plop in the now vacant and completely littered in green and orange glitter spots in front of you and Liv climbs from Robin’s lap onto Eddie’s shoulders. Dangling, her face upside down in front of his, she beams and shouts, “Shit!”

Eddie laughs but quickly covers it up with a cough, “Well, that’s a new word,” he looks over his shoulder at you and grins, “For the record, I was not the one to teach that one to her.” He pulls her forward until she’s balancing a foot on each of their thighs and beaming back at you.

Sighing, you shake your head, “Nope that one was all Steve.”

Liv chooses then to repeat her other new word and Steve hides his face in Julie’s hair. Grace gasps again, “Mommy, did you hear-”

It’s extremely hard to stay mad at Steve Harrington. 

Not a new realization, in fact it’s something you’ve been highly aware of since the day you met. One look at his stupidly adoring face and anger just seemed to dissolve from you. So, today was no different of course. 

The way he nudged his knee against yours when you returned to the stands, a silent ‘we’re okay, right?’, his sudden jump up when Nora got the ball and he shouted, “Elbow, baby, keep your elbow in!” and his fist pump as the ball swished into the net. The stupid ( and fine, very logical) baby carrier that shouldn’t look good on him but did. The way he handed Julie off to you so he could race down the stairs and catch Nora who jumped into his arms as he spun her shouting something about pizza for everybody. 

It was all so incredibly and unfairly endearing. And it’s not like you were actually mad at him. You couldn’t wait to have another baby with him. No, the problem is that once Steve finds out, he’s not going to let you out of bed, out of his sight or allow you to do a single thing for yourself. Because you know that’s how he was with the other four and this will be worse, you just know it.  

Having four girls is already a lot of work. His promotion at work and your job keep you both busy aside from being parents. He already insists on doing most of the chores since you work longer hours some nights. But it’s chaotic. Both of you forget loads of laundry, leave dishes in the sink, and you get take out far too many nights because the thought of cooking is too much. What’s going to happen when he finds out? When it’s already chaos and you’re helping, how much worse is it going to get when he refuses to let you do anything?

So, when he insists on getting up at dinner to go get you another slice and go refill the girls drinks and his pizza sits cold and uneaten in front of him you snap, “Steve! Stop it!”

The table falls silent, a thing you actually thought impossible for your family. Even Julie, her pacifier placating her into silence. The arcade game’s dings and whistles are the only sound for what feels like forever before you blow out your breath and push back from the table. Mumbling some sort of an apology and you step outside taking a breath of fresh air. 

Though your vision is blurry, you can see through the front windows that they’re all trying and failing to look busy instead of watching you, and Steve is outside and in your space because of course he followed you immediately. 

“Baby, you gotta tell me what’s going on. Hey, come on,” he cradles your cheeks, thumbs brushing over them and wiping your tears as his forehead presses to yours, glasses sliding down his nose. 

“So-sorry,” you hiccup, hands tightening on his forearms and squeezing. 

“Will you stop apologizing? It’s my fault and I know we talked about it, but maybe you don’t want this fifth one and-”

“Steve, please stop. You have to…” you take a step away from him and wipe at your cheeks and cross your arms, “I need you to listen. Really listen. Let me get it all out before you go into overprotective hero mode okay?”

He grimaces, “That is not making me feel better, babe.” His shoulders relax at your raised eyebrows and he nods, leaning against the window, raising his right hand with a small smile, “I promise, okay?”

Taking a deep breath, you start pacing in front of him, “I love you. So much. And I love our family. It’s chaos, but it’s our chaos, you know? And, seriously, I love you, but you have to let me do things for myself and trust that I know my body and my limits because, Steve,” your hands are in your hair as your eyes stay focused on the sidewalk, “It’s already hard to stay on top of stuff when I do help. So I need to hear you say it.”

He straightens, eyebrows furrowed and you reach forward on instinct to soften the wrinkles with your fingers just like you do for the girls as he asks, “Say what?”

“That you promise to let me help. That unless I ask for help or to not do something, that I can…” you wave your hands around, “That I can go get my own slice of pizza. That we both help with the girls, that-”

He nods, hands finding yours, “Okay, I promise.”

He leans in to kiss you, nose pressing into your cheek and lips hovering over yours as you sigh, “Thank you, but there’s one more thing?”

His lips twitch up on one side, “Yeah? Do I need to start using a swear jar?”

Blowing out your breath in a shaky laugh, you watch his eyes carefully as you whisper, “Remember how you said you wanted six kids?”

He smiles against your lips, not fully listening you’re sure, since this is the closest you’ve been in weeks but he nods. Swallowing and licking his lips as he presses closer to you. 

“Well, uh, about that,” his hands find your cheeks as you push through it, “We’re having twins.”

Steve’s thumbs freeze, his shoulders tense and his gulp is audible, “Wh-what?”

You shrug, biting your lip as your vision turns blurry from more tears, “Surprise?”

His arms move around your waist and before you can say anything else he’s holding you up, your toes barely touching the ground as he laughs through his own tears and kisses you. Breathless and kissing all over your face as he spins you around and the door opens, the girls running out, Julie in Nora’s arms and Grace holding Liv’s hand. 

Nora cocks her head to the side, a mirror image of Steve as she frowns, “What’s going on? Why are you crying?”

Steve’s behind you, head pressed into your neck as you laugh and wipe at your eyes, holding up two fingers, “Well, mom’s having two babies!”

Shouting and running around in circles and kisses on every cheek you can find as they all celebrate loudly and are filled with too much energy for such small bodies. Steve doesn’t remove his arms from around your waist, squeezing you lightly and laughing into your shoulder as Liv yells, “Shit!” again. 

It’s chaos. But what else is new?

Umm ur correct (the ER is a second home for most of the gang tbh).

So Sodapop has broken his arm like three times (EVERY SINGLE TIME was from jumping off of smth he shouldn't have, like the back of a car or... just off the roof of the house 💀). Each time he was in so much shock he didn't even realize it was broken. He just looked down at it and thought "...huh. My arm looks weird 🤔" (meanwhile Darry is PANICKING bc he looks like one of those bendy arm toys)

Soda seems like he was the kinda kid who got hurt a lot from rocking back in chairs. He has a big ahh scar on the back of his head from where he cracked it open on the school tile for doing that.

Darry's gotten a handful of sports related injuries in his life (one of the worst ones was a broken leg from one of the socs "accidentally" tackling him WAYY too hard at football practice. It was so bad he needed surgery and he couldn't get out of bed for a few weeks). He gets over them pretty quickly, but he does suffer from chronic pain (esp in his back. he's pulled too many muscles)

Soda is chronically clumsy. One time he tripped over the front steps of the house when he was a kid and ATE IT (and lost. ALL of his primary teeth (Ik someone who this happened to. Horrible stuff)). It wasn't all bad bc he got like 5 dollars for it

For Ponyboy?? He hasn't broken any bones (besides fingers and toes) but he's had some pretty bad falls. Like Curly used to have a motorcycle when they were like 11 and Pony wanted to try, but he ended up skinning like. the entire right side of his body.

i think the most too blame people are the adults. in fact i don’t really blame the children at all. i think it’s stupid to get up in arms about luke using a knife on aemond when like, in the book, it’s not even treated as weird that this five year old is walking around with a dagger. i think the fact that luke only uses the dagger once jacaerys starts losing the fight against aemond shows that luke has a child’s understanding of violence; he goes for the eye to stop the fight, and doesn’t grasp that maiming aemond is a very serious thing that he can’t undo. i think both aemond and jacaerys think the best thing, The Dutiful Thing is to deal with this situation themselves, because they’re Almost A Man Grown, and they’re too angry (and too childish bc they’re literal children) to realize that the mature thing to do is to LEAVE THE SITUATION and GO GET A GROWNUP and of course, it escalates to a horrific degree (they’re both doing this for different reasons, but it amounts to the same sort of “the right thing to do is to be a man and handle this silly fight myself” line of thinking). we can have a lot of conversations about people’s tempers and who started the fight, and what the addition of a rock or the girlsdoes to the dynamic but i just feel that ultimately, this fight went on for too long bc they were not being supervised correctly. i have a really hard time blaming a five year old who was given a dagger for using that dagger nor do i think it’s on aemond to anticipate that the toddler he picked a fight with would bring both a wooden sword AND a dagger to a fistfight. also i’m sorry but it is darkly funny that a twelve year old got jumped by two toddlers, sue me. the blame doesn’t lie with them, i don’t think any of the three of them realized it would escalate so quickly, and then everyone around them acted INSANE afterwards.

now when we get into the fallout of it. first of all, i think people are purposefully obtuse about why rhaenyra goes on the offensive. i cannot stress enough that part of the issue here is that she’s committing treason which is punishable by death. does she help the situation at all? no. but “she’s mad they said the truth” is like saying cersei is only mad at ned bc he said the truth; they’re mad bc someone knowing the truth means they could die. i think both rhaenyra & alicent start acting crazy bc now this issue between them has spilled out between their kids in like a REAL in your face way and they’re both looking for viserys to like, DO SOMETHING do anything, and when they feel like he’s not doing enough they decide “fuck it time to show him EYE can cross the line if i have to” and viserys responds by making it worse 😭

secondly, laying out how viserys just completely fucks this. he’s the one who makes this disastrous decision to make it illegal to talk about his grandsons, confines his heir away from court, and then refuses to acknowledge that like, it was pretty fucked up thing that just happened to his son, so everyone walks away with some sort of righteous fury over the event and once again digs in their heels to make the dumb, violent decisions that help escalate this entire thing into war. and it’s not even that viserys is trying to do the right thing and just failing, like say, egg & the issues he has with succession, viserys is trying to do the easiest thing, the thing that gets everyone to stop yelling at him & do what he says. bro they are taking eyes out and threatening to torture each other. this is so far beyond something that can be fixed with a kiss on the cheek. these are two opposing sides CONVINCED the other is going to kill them, it’s not like him & rhaenys or him & daemon. but he just says “it’s fixed it’s fine” and goes home. why are dads like this.

so for prue i really loved her season three hair with the touches of red highlights when she stood in the sun i thought that was really cute second place would be the fun curls she did in like reckless abandon and sight unseen

for piper my favorite hair era was season six it was so beautiful and flowy and the highlights were on point i love it when it fell in loose waves (i didn't love it straightened to be perfectly honest) and then it was also really cute when it was tied up in ponytails but i get why that was infrequent bc all that hair must be heavyyy

for phoebe it's gotta be blonde phoebe from season three and especially the start of season four the first half of that season her hair looked sooo good. a close second place that is sometimes first place honestly is the season 6 pixie like that intro with the pixie and hoops and olive bikini and body jewelry was sooooo peak she looked soo good. i didn't super love it as much tho when it was being grown out

for paige i really liked her strawberry blonde hair from season 6 and her raven black hair from season 4. the red hair i didn't inherently dislike per se, i just didn't love the way it was styled most of the time in those vintage big curled bobs. her brunette hair in s7+8 was like fine but there was something about that pitch black hair in contrast with her fair skin that was just soooo good in my opinion that the brown hair (esp with the fake tan in s7) just didn't hit as hard for me.

hair colors/styles i would have love to see would be maybe some more black hair phoebe she kinda rocked the very dark brunette in late season 5 and it was kind of fun. i wish we would have made piper blonde for an episode. not like a platinum blonde, but more like a phoebe blonde. i think that would have been soo fun (every other sister has been blonde but her!) and then i think we should have given paige at least one crazy color with a potion excuse behind it.

if i had to give everyone brand new hair:

prue - i would give her a more choppy layered shag maybe as a season 4 hair as she gets more artsy photography vibes fuck it maybe we give her a girlfriend

piper - i don't super feel the need to change her hair per se i mean we could give her a balayage again i love when her hair has highlights and a lot of variance of color but really what i want to see more of is hair decorations. we did em for phoebe we did em for prue i wanna see piper's hair get adorned

phoebe - platinum blonde!!!!!!! i feel like we usually only see this with pale girlies and not the olive toned girls but that doesn't mean they can't pull it off i this this would "slay down" as the kids r saying

Like. I logically understand why the Retcon and the accelerated ending of Homestuck happened. I do. I understand that Hussie just needed the story to be over at last, and as a writer, I respect that deeply and it was entirely their right to do it the way they did imo.

however

the actual execution of the Retcon has aged really badly for me.

The one and only part of it I can look at and say I liked was Terezi. I love how Terezi changes the universe by changing herself, and I think it's one of the most powerful and profound moments of the entire story, truly. The way she.... breaks herself and remakes herself into what she has to be to alter the course of reality is staggering.

But.... I have tremendous issues with the actual technical execution. The entirety of Vriskagram leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth.

(Which, some people might say "but it's the thing that made davekat canon" and my brother in karkat, davekat was already canon pre-retcon, that was the direction their relationship was going, it wasn't even subtle, i didn't need vriskagram for that)

That Vriska solved the Gamzee issue, fixed Rose's alcoholism, saved Terezi, got ahold of the music boxes to hop around and fix the prototyping, she fixes the Strider problem, and the way she supplants Karkat's entire point in the story honestly is so fucking aggravating. Vriska was a duplicitous turnways manipulator and she's flattened into a bandaid for the entire story. It sucks. It flattens everyone.

And on some level, thematically, it makes sense? She is the Thief of Light, and Light is Agency, so her greatest triumph is stealing the agency from everyone until the spotlight is hers alone and it washes her out. Its a triumph for the Alpha Timeline and its a tragedy for Vriska herself as she loses all of the progress she made as a person.

And also the fact that... Rose and Dirk never talk, no one defends Jake from Vriska's bullying, the way Jane and Jake's character arcs hard stop and never get resolved, the way the whole Roxy Died thing is just not dealt with-- so many balls get dropped because of the compressed ending, and on a technical level, I feel like the quality of HS post-retcon drops like a rock tossed into a canyon. And the glory of Dirk And Dave's conversation cannot singlehandedly fix that. Esp bc while its the perfect dismount of Dave's character arc, it's not the end of Dirk's. Out of the four alpha kids, only Roxy gets a full arc and it sucks.

ksxjsodkwkkd i have had a post abt their music tastes sitting in my drafts for months so i will just share that!! my own music is kind of limited bc i just listen to the same stuff over & over (bc neurodivergent™️) so!! my apolocheese for this not being as super in depth for some of the gang vs others. i am also open to suggestions ;_; a couple of these were from me talking with a pal, mainly astrid & fishlegs (@despiteherself hiiiii!!!!)

hiccup: lots of indie stuff, leaning more towards indie folk!! he likes anything rlly with strings involved. he's a dragonboy horsegirl at heart & wants to imagine riding through the air with winds blowing through his hair & wistfully wishing he could have a different life. he does listen to indie pop, too. he liked glass animals before they were popular & wants everyone to know it. also loves woodkid.

astrid: she has 5 songs she listens to & they were just songs ppl recommended to her. she only goes out of her way to listen to music if she's at the gym & doesn't want to talk to anyone (if snotlout is there it does not work </3) tuffnut told her "you should listen to mac miller" & she picked a single song & just made it a song she listens to. every single other song she's ever heard is inflicted upon her when she's in the car, at work, etc & her friends have their stuff. she's content with that

fishlegs: everything & anything u could possibly think of. it's all put together on one giant playlist. u will hear 1940s jazz followed by georgian chants followed by sam smith followed by power metal followed by edm & it just keeps going. knows the words to every song he ever hears. any genre, any language!! collects vinyl, tapes, cds, YOU NAME IT!!! very passionate abt music!!!!!!

snotlout: 2000s & 2010s pop & edm, duchess by fergie is one of his fave albums ever. loves lady gaga. everything else is dad rock. 80s thrash metal, nu metal, & 90s grunge, mostly. he wants to be cool so so bad, he wants to be a rockstar. learns to play guitar & is annoying abt it (can shred p well tho). is the reason everyone in the friend group has at least ONE slipknot song on their individual playlists

ruffnut: grunge, hip hop, rap, & house music. lots of in this moment & garbage. big kendrick lamar fan. lots of late 80s to early 00s for rap & hip hop. she likes to groove & vibe, occasionally headbang. i think she'd love mary j blige too. i think she, outside of everything listed, has a soft spot for p!nk & listens to her when she's having a hard time (her & snotlout sometimes listen together). i think she'd also enjoy billie holiday on a quiet day & no one is around. (she is not embarrassed by it ay all, she just likes having things for herself)

tuffnut: grunge, 70s soft rock, hip hop, & rap!!! lots of overlap with ruff but obv there's also a lot of differences!! the 70s soft rock is the main outlier. he enjoys cruising around & being wistful as he listens to america, doobie brothers, seals & croft, etc. he puts pop country on his playlists as a joke but it ends up stuck in everyone's heads & smth they all jam to to have fun.

there is a massive group playlist (fishlegs is the one who puts it together but will add a song if suggested) & it is a cacophony of so much shit. they all have their tastes but by the time they're adults they all know each other's songs & sing/jam along & have a fucking blast, esp in the car or at the sanctuary. the playlist is always on shuffle & there is the chance for a rickroll. always

songs that tend to get repeated by the group are psychosocial (slipknot), custer (slipknot), anything by pitbull, fire water burn (bloodhound gang), bbc (jaboukie), anything by woodkid, somebody i used to know (gotye), & anything by they might be giants & other assorted meme songs they love torturing each other with. (they are the most obnoxious group alive)

what's funny to me about the thing w steve's music taste is when ppl act like he could never like or even deal w (bc of noise/volume/its inherent overwhelming superiority ig) eddie's music even tho hammer to fall is considered to literally be a metal or at least hard rock song. like if you listen to hammer to fall and dio back to back there's not a huge gap there. i haven't listened to a lot of black sabbath but this also goes for the most well-known black sabbath songs at least. that would only make sense to me in a modern au bc metal has gotten a lot harder and more intense in some subgenres (and also more niche than in the 80s considering that's when hair metal peaked [and the only metal band that truly thrived and broke into mainstream success post-the arrival of nirvana is metallica]) but a lot of what eddie listens to (esp black sabbath) is more akin to dad rock than anything else now. like i was walking on my college campus the other day and the baseball team was blasting for whom the bell tolls.

yeah, i think it again just comes down to people a. not rewatching the show and not knowing what steve listens to, b. not understanding music genres, and c. not knowing anything about 80s music.

honestly, i really wouldn’t care if it was just the occasional fic, because i really don’t think you need to do all this research just to write fanfiction, it’s just annoying because it’s so pervasive.

prefacing this by saying i do genuinely like twinzy, i think they're super cute! that being said it's easily wdzy. members were more involved in their creation, the designs are more unique/distinct, and honestly just more fun. for twinzy i think kkengee looks most like yeji, and for wdzy it's gotta be my fav tuk (when ryujin's got her ears popping out the hoodie) or lya!

fav title track is SO tough there's so many good ones. ugh. honestly it might be cheshire?? that was the first itzy title track that got Stuck In My Head and then i had to listen to their entire discography lol. my favorite era as a whole is easily kill my doubt.

i think that entire EP is phenomenal, and it's what made me really hop on the itzy train in a permanent way (i became a fan during that comeback). bet on me and none of my business are the reason i survived the last year of my phd program lol

any concepts you want itzy to try in the future?

this is also tough! itzy has proven they can basically rock any concept so it's hard to say really. in terms of styling i would really love to see them go a little more masc (like the airport fits in the algorhythm mv) and do at least some r&b (like stuff in the direction of mr. vampire, especially when lia comes back)...i guess like to see them do a darker more mature concept but not girl crush bc i feel like we've seen them do that.

more than anything i'd say what i want is for the girls to have more creative control of their direction in concept, styling, and music. i think they have all shown themselves to be incredibly thoughtful and talented in those respects, beyond performance, and i'd be really interested to see what they come up with together if given the opportunity for input. fingers crossed that the solo projects on born to be were indicative of that becoming the new norm.
