The Red Carpet will turn Blue in Lisbon

Host Broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) has put in a lot of hard work and effort in their Eurovision Song Contest 2018 project and has made quite an impact with its preparations. Both the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the Reference Group are quite impressed with RTP’s organization and plan of action. On 7 November, 2017, host broadcaster Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP) held a special press conference in Lisbon’s Oceanarium in order to disclose the latest developments regarding the forthcoming 63rd Eurovision Song Contest. In addition to the official presentation of the 2018 ESC logo and slogan, and the list of countries participating at the upcoming contest, RTP officials Gonçalo Mandailand Nuno Galopim shed more light on next year's Euroclub, Eurovision Village, Press Centre and social program during the press conference. For the very first time in Eurovision Song Contest history, the Red Carpet will be transformed into the Blue Carpet thus merging in with 2018 ESC’s slogan and theme, showcasing the country’s maritime and nautical heritage. Portugal has played a key role for 500 years connecting continents and has contributed a great number of explorers throughout history. The 2018 Eurovision theme art and logo will celebrate Portugal’s nautical and historical heritage and its connection with oceans and seas, thus showcasing the fusion between modern day Portugal and ancient Portugal. RTP would like to portray Portugal as an open, diverse and inclusive country.
