You wish you had hands. Something for Error to touch even if you know full well by now that he would never let you touch him, or vice versa. It’s been so long since you knew him after all and even the way you are is pushing it. The fact you’re not a million scattered pixels is truly a miracle, given Error’s reputation and usual behaviour with SOULs like you.

Still, you dream. Your thoughts wander.

Respect the boundaries that exist but what if? Would he feel solid, if you had the senses for it? How would his glitches translate to your more broad senses? Would he lash out at you, or allow you the benefit of doubt? Surely he knew you long enough to allow even a brush?

But you don’t have the sense of touch. Not the right one anyway.

There is a solution though (there's more than one way to break free, you remember this) and your little self is further strung along by the idea’s allure. 

The current rules only exist because you were here. Anomalous being, abominations to those within this plane of existence. Bound to rules of the medium, but who says you were stuck to only one medium?

You drift a little further ahead, the pull of a potential change singing to you like a siren’s song.

It’s right there, sitting so tantalizingly close yet so far away - an exit to this depressing situation you’ve put everyone in. A solution that sits nearly outside the box… But it’s not beyond your reach.

You reach out, SOUL thrumming with longing for something better. A solution only you could present thanks to what you were. Maybe you could bring a better person to make this story better. Someone who wasn’t ‘you’ right now. Something new. Only one of you is allowed per setting and it’s clear that this ‘you’ isn’t working. You’re not what he wants or needs.

Yellowed tips enter your vision, followed by red phalanges, then black metacarpals. Each digit cupped around that fragile shape that holds you, until you are caged within the same hands you have seen break things over and over again. Your destination is obscured from view as those hands bring you down from your ascendance slowly. Gently. 

You follow the direction of his hands. Don’t touch him, you remember this as you carefully hover in the hollow space he carves out for you in the air with his hands. You don’t want to set off his fear.

The two thumbs above crack open and mismatched eyes gaze down upon your little SOUL. The snarl on his jaw isn’t present, instead replaced by a frown with a tightness you don’t remember seeing on him ever.

For a moment, neither of you move. Error’s Intent, usually a whirlwind of manic rage and glee, is unusually solemn. Quiet. Dare you say, gloomy. 

You're reading it wrong.

Your Intent hasn’t changed. Mostly, anyway. There is a shred of hope that blooms in your little pixel mass, a glow that aches for more. You would do anything for a favorite even if it meant giving them the silence they demanded.

“don’t…” Error breathes out, not a shred of the anger you know or the relief you predicted present in his tone. His sockets droop, and his hands draw you closer and closer until the Destroyer hunches around you like a cage.* “… don’t go.”

Once upon a time, centuries and centuries ago, Empress Charla Corrupto gave birth to three sons. Their names were Xiro, Xelter, and Xirus. The Corrupto Family was known for being the wealthiest and possibly most powerful family in the multiverse, and have been for many generations. Especially Emperor Xavier Corrupto. The emperor was feared by everyone at the time, monsters, humans, nobody dared to suffer his unbearable wrath.

The boys were each named after a god of the Lost Era. With titles as important and sacred as those to their family, Emperor Xavier had huge expectations for his sons. Empress Charla was against training their children at such a young age, but the king insisted that this was for their own good. One day, Emperor Xavier discovered something special in one of his sons, Xirus had turned out to be an Omnipotent, which meant his power had no limits. That meant he could continue to grow in strength as he pleases with the endless potential that he had.

Discovering that one of his sons could possibly match up with the prophecy of a reincarnated Omnipotent God, he swore to make Xirus his number one heir into a powerful ruler.

Of course that came with a huge 360°, the fear of someday being overthrown by his own son. The full power that could intentionally be unlocked, the kid will be unstoppable, he would kill everyone that stood in his way. He would become the monster everyone feared in the legends.

The Omnipotent of Chaos.

Of course, that would be silly, Emperor Xaiver thought. What type of destruction could this child possibly cause? He wasn’t really THAT dangerous…right? Xiro never thought too much of his brother being an OP god, in fact, he found it kind of cool that his brother could be the man in the history books.

Xelter of course, had always been jealous of his brother Xirus. He didn’t find it cool or wasn’t in deep awe like everybody else on the Corrupto Spaceship were, he saw it as as a stupid cheat code to get stronger quicker, meanwhile, he had been training his entire childhood with little to no respect from anyone. He hated his brother with burning passion, if anyone was to be the next Empeor of the multiverse, it was to be HIM.

Xirus didn’t care, however, and loved the praise and attention he had received from the subordinates and the citizens. One day, however he snuck to his father’s room only to find a book of forbidden techniques, in which the emperor had been secretly using on his son to keep him in control of his mind.

The child didn’t think too much of the book and was about to turn and leave, until he found a note under his father’s pillow, evidence in which his father wanted to have him sealed away in the void for eternity. Xirus couldn’t believe it, after all this time, abiding by his father’s rules, his father was trying to get rid of him for good, simply for being stronger than him.

This made him livid, he also assumed that his mother was in on the plan as well, since he had always noticed she seemed a bit afraid of her children’s power in general. He had never felt so betrayed in his life. He took the book and began to look through it closely this time, finding techniques that were forbidden for a reason, he went through the list intrigued, a sadistic smile growing on his face. Eventually finding some techniques he found cool.

Blackhole Star: Instant Travel. Time: 1.5 seconds.

The Corruption Touch: A puppeteer technique, control anyone to your will with a single touch, or if they touch you by mistake. It works just as well on gods. The person who has been corrupted will lose every sense of themselves and will only follow your lead. Time: 3.9 seconds.

Boop: A odd name but a deadly technique. Can disintegrate anyone’s body from the inside and cause them to explode. Time: Instantly.

Ctrl Alt Delete: A genocide technique, can eradicate any mutiverse in sight, no matter which one it may be. Time: 5.4 seconds.

Otherworldly Transportation: Similar to the Blackhole Star technique, but allows you to visit the real world, different fandoms, etc. Time: Instantly.

Puppet Eyes: Simply able to control anyone just by looking at them and controlling them with your eyes. Time: No limit.

Omni Blasters (Unlimited): Technically Gaster Blasters, but you can summon as many as you like. Time: Instantly.

All of these incredible techniques, these beautiful creations crafted by the gods themselves. Xirus couldn’t help but wonder why his father was keeping this from him. But that didn’t really matter at this point. He trained himself every day to master each technique with ease. Within the next 100 years he would have his sweet revenge. He would show them all the real power of a God.

Timeskip to 100 years later

Xirus was crowned emperor and his father hosted a coronation to celebrate. Although his father forgotten about the book and what he had almost done all those years ago, Xirus was still not over it. In this current time he wasn’t ruling over just the outcodes, but the incodes to. And over the past 100 years, he had really grown to hate the mortals just as much as he hated his father.

He saw them as nothing but selfish, greedy, irredeemable weaklings who did nothing but killed each other and start wars simply because they knew they could. One day he had enough of watching the world go up in flames and decided to put an end to these worms by traveling to earth and causing a worldly genocide. Killing every monster, human, man, woman, child, it didn’t matter.

He had always been focused on bad apples and never bothered to acknowledge the good ones, some that could’ve potentially saved his outlook on the world. This broke him. He was starting to enjoy hearing the screams of the weak, the cries, the begs for mercy. But this was the last straw, the last bit of remorse in him dried up like a shriveled raisin. He became the monster everyone feared in the legends….

Empress Charla was the first to discover what her monster of a son had done with her universal sight seeing powers. She cried, realizing she failed her son. And now their family was forever broken. Before she can tell anyone else what he did, Xirus activated puppet eyes and had her kill two guards in such a gruesome manner. He feigned horror as soon as his father entered the room. Labeling his own mother as a traitor who’s gone psycho and needed to be stopped.

Xavier with genuine horror and disbelief on his face, was absolutely speechless. He was oblivious to the fact that she was under their son’s control. Xirus begin to put his plan into action and ordered the other guards who just entered to have his mother killed by morning as she couldn’t be “saved” anymore.

Of course they were hesitant because this was the empress who they have served for over a decade, then again, they weren’t here to question, they were here to follow orders. The next day she was killed in front of everyone in the empire. Xirus showed absolutely no empathy or remorse for his actions. Of course everyone else couldn’t believe what had just happened, the rumors of the empress killing two guards spread like wildfire. Some refused to believe that she could possibly do something so… horrific.

Xiro and Xelter had watched their mother die in cold blood and their brother was just smiling like this was some type of sick joke. Xelter didn’t wanna believe the rumors, but sadly, the weight was too much for him to bear. After that horrific day, nobody was allowed to speak of what happened, or else they would meet the same fate. So Xiro and Xelter were forced to keep it to themselves.

Eventually, everybody moved on. As if this was just a sick dream. However, the once mighty emperor Xavier would never forget what happened. In fact, the trauma was so hard to cope with, it ended up driving him to the brink of insanity. Xirus saw this as a moment of vulnerability, and decided to put him out of his misery.

“Poor father. You should’ve known that someday I would find out about you sealing me from existence completely. All because your pride couldn’t handle me being more powerful than you. Hm? You don’t know what I’m talking about? Heh, it seems old age finally caught up with you, you’ve been forgetting a lot of things lately. Well, in a couple more seconds it won’t matter anymore. You lost this game of war the moment you believed you ever had a chance of claiming victory.”

He ended his father right there and then. Soon after he knew his empire would start questioning where the previous emperor was and would start to get worried, so he took matters into his own hands by erasing everyone’s memories on the ship to believing his father never existed to begin with, as well as his mother.

He decided to leave the AU Xirustale behind him as it was no longer worth anything to him, his loyal soldiers following behind. This opened his eyes to endless possibilities. He had a whole world out there to explore now, but not just for bird watching. He wanted everyone to know the name which was Emperor Xirus Corrupto. With his growing empire, he manipulated millions of strong individuals into joining his forces. He was growing fast by the day, it was hard to tell how many soldiers he had working for him.

He convinced strong entities and anomalies such as himself to becoming allies with him. Such as: Error 404, King Mutiverse, Error, etc. He became unstoppable, he became what everybody feared in the legends of his AU, he became the monster his father feared he would be. He became the monster that would change his brother’s perspective on him in general. And finally, he became the monster known as-

I think a good shipname for Error x Classic would be: Moth.

Because the moth, the insect, was the FIRST computer BUG to exist.

(Long story short: this happened because a moth (insect) literally entered inside the computer, causing problems with it.

And that's why bugs are called...well, bugs- )

Sans is the first existing Sans, and Error is the first Sans that bugged.

So...to me this makes some sense.

And well, since Error doesn't eliminate the main au of the multiverse, in this case: Undertale, he implies that he has nothing against Undertale and its Fun Values, he just doesn't care about them.

At some point, I imagine Error ending up visiting Undertale for...reasons he can't remember :).

He would feel a strange feeling of deja-vu from this place.

And then, halfway through, he meets Sans.

Sans, as always, would be friendly towards Error.

Maybe Error would be rude to him at first, but Sans wouldn't care, and would just keep trying to make friends.

Sans would make his natural jokes, and Error, like any other Sans, would find them funny, and nostalgic, in some way.

And well, over time, Error would like to spend time with Sans, as he is not an anomaly like the others, he already existed, perhaps even before Error himself.

Of course, it would take a HUGE amount of time to get to that point, as he seems to have trust issues, but anyway-

Error would maybe vent to Sans about this multiverse balancing thing and Ink not being able to keep this shit balanced.

Sans would obviously understand Error, because, unlike Ink, he is more sensible-

They would do different things together: they would tell jokes, they would laze around, they would just make small gestures of affection because aphephobia-

Error would even take Sans to watch the real stars in Outertale, as Classico has probably never seen them, and he also loves astronomy, so there's no way he wouldn't like it.

They would both nerd out about space, watch Undernovela and other crap on TV, Error would teach him how to knit, Classico would call Error a nerd because of his glasses as a way of teasing him.

Classic would also play pranks on him, using mainly the old and famous whoppie causion-

And with all this attention and affection that Error would be receiving, he would start to fall in love with the Classic.

Error being a wet paper towel around Classic sans is my favorite thing ever. Hes this weird guy who is both overpowered and very easy to beat in a fight but the moment “the Original” is around he’s the epitome of those images of large eyed sad cats who just follow people around all pathetically

To celebrate the fact that it's almost Valentine's Day I have decided I wanted to rank all Sanscest ships (I won't be including ships like Erosion x Ceno, Paperjam x Fresh, Fallacy x Encre, Mad Sci ships, Passive ships, Shattered ships, Empireverse ships, etc. I'll also leave out genderbends because then there would be way too much). I'll try not to be bias and just put every Swap Sans ship at the top, but if I like it and think it's good, it's going near the top... Or well. Bottom... Keep in mind this is all my opinion, which is constantly changing. This might not be in the best order but I tried. Also, when I say bad I just mean I dislike it. I don't think any ship is necessarily "bad". All ships are good... Except for the first five. I do think they're pretty bad... Anyway! (Ok not anyway. Real quick I jut wanna warn you that I dislike a lot of popular ships. Please don't yell at me if your favorite is near the top. Or at least not at the bottom)

Aka the worst part of this fandom (To me. Ship whatever you want. Just keep all your harems away from me unless it's a Blue harem or Fluttershy harem. We'll talk with a Dust harem).

This is the only one that makes it really work. There's so much potential for this pair. This is the highest non Swap pair lol.

3: Blue x Cross Crossberry will always be the cutest ship ever. Cuter than the below pairs even. I love their dynamic so much. Blue would so fangirl over Cross's hotness constantly. He such a bottom lol.

"I-I-I swear Ink, I will murder y-y-you!"

"It'll be good for you!" Ink laughed as he shoved Error into the office. "It's helped me! Trust me, you'll like it, because it's all about you!"

Error scowled, slapping Ink's hands when he touched him. However, he didn't have the energy to resist Ink's nagging about the subject.

Therapy was all Ink had talked about for the past three weeks. He went on and on about fixing his flaws because he learned where they originated. Error didn't buy it. How can one possibly fix themselves when they were mistakes in the first place? Such anomalies shouldn't ever exist and need to be destroyed. Why should he care about them getting better if he would kill them anyway?

He was hit with a sense of nostalgia as he entered the room. A thick smell of vanilla entered his nose as the air around him stuck to his skin. It was very humid, and Error already hated it.

"He'll be in shortly!" Ink closed the door behind him. "I'll introduce you two!"

"I don't need your company or your help, squid," Error snapped, turning his head around. He paused for a second, surprised the glitch stutter in his voice had stopped when he entered the room.

"Hey, you won't even know I'm here, haha! I'll leave when he starts with ya!"

Error eyed Ink as the painter sat on a brown chair nearby, staring at the billboard. Error followed his gaze. There were a lot of red strings tied from peg to peg on different pictures on the billboard as if it represented a pattern or a lifestyle. There was a small desk below the billboard. It had a fire-lit candle to the right and a clipboard to the left. Once Error noticed the fire from the candle, he noticed that every part of the room was lit, and no shadows were cast.

Error sat down on a large sofa, sinking into it. He immediately felt at peace as he looked up. A fan was turning above him. Other than that, the tan walls were barren. The door was a darker brown than the walls, but everything felt so empty.

And Error loved it.

Besides Ink occasionally shifting, there was no sound. It reminded Error of his home in the Anti-Void. The room was lit with a soft yellow light, and it was cold. The vanilla smell didn't fade away.

Error tried to hide the fact he thoroughly enjoyed this room. "I don't have all day," he snapped at Ink. "Where is this therapist?"

"He's coming," Ink looked over anxiously. "I forgot to tell him I was bringing you, so maybe he's getting new papers for you!" Ink bobbed his head as if a song was playing in his head. He pulled out one of his notebooks and started to draw, his rainbow tongue sticking out as he colored in a previous picture.

Error scoffed to himself. Despite how much he hated the painter, there was always something captivating about him. He was goofy and unpredictable, along with annoying and heartless. He was fun to watch, at least.

They were enemies, they hated each other. Granted, Error hated everyone, and he had no intention to change that. But why did Ink come out of his way not to fight him but to bring him to this place? Especially after he...

Error thought back to when he destroyed the multiverse, and it made him question Ink even more. Even though the creators started to create different AUs again, most alternate universes were gone. X!Gaster hadn't been seen since. Yet, Ink didn't hold it against him, as if he'd forgiven him.

Error hated that. He didn't understand why Ink was suddenly so friendly to him. Ink got over his pain so quickly; something Error was never able to do, and he was jealous because of it. It's not fair...

The brown door opened, and a sweet skeleton stepped inside. His glasses hung from his non-existent ears. He wore an off-white cardigan and a green shirt. He wore a soft smile on his face before he locked eyes with Error. Error didn't bother to observe the rest of his appearance. Confusion filled the therapist's gaze, and Error grimaced. Significant, another stupid anomaly.

"Doc!" Ink shot up from his chair, walking up and hugging the therapist tightly.

Doc looked perplexed before he hugged Ink back. "Ink, there you are! I didn't see you," he smiled softly, still watching Error closely. "Did you bring a friend?"

"Yes! This is Error, Error, this is Doc!" Ink let go of Doc and happily smiled at Error.

Error's gaze went past Doc's eyes as he found his soul. It was an ordinary monster soul as he expected. However, it had a tint of light blue surrounding it. Although he found it strange, he didn't think about it too much as it jolted out of fear. He smirked to himself as Doc shuddered. The therapist's fear was amusing.

"Error, it's nice to meet you!" His voice didn't betray how the therapist was feeling. He stuck out his hand. "I'm Doc Sans; I'm assuming you came to get some therapy?"

"Didn't have a choice," Error glared at Ink and ignored the handshake. "Let's get this over with."

Doc withdrew his hand and sat down on the green chair. He flipped through the clipboard and wrote a few things down. Error knew he was afraid, and rightfully so. One wrong move and the Destroyer would tear this place apart. Why should he show mercy to this pathetic excuse for a life? Was this another one of Ink's tricks? If he ended up destroying Ink's trick, maybe Ink would finally feel the same pain that he did.

"I'll be nearby if you need anything!" Ink trotted toward the door, his eyes sparkling with stars and his grin wide. "Have fun Error!"

Error rolled his eyes as the painter disappeared. He sat back down on the couch, sinking into it. At least the therapy room was nice with its flat appearance. That made him want to destroy it less.

"So, Error, I've heard a lot about you," Doc smiled sweetly as he turned to him. "But I want you to tell me about yourself."

Error scoffed, shaking his head as he slouched in the couch. "The paint freak told you about me. Typical. What did he say?"

"You tell me," Doc tilted his head. "What should he have told me about you?"

Error thought for a moment before he replied. "I am the Destroyer of the Multiverse; I am the one who makes anomalies like yourself fearful for their lives-"

"No, I don't mean your status," Doc interrupted. "I want to know you. What do you do in your free time? What do you enjoy? Your job set aside, who are you?"

...What?

Error never heard of such a question. He started to feel different about this therapy thing. Did this anomaly really want to know? Did he really care? Why would he ask such a thing? No one had even asked him what he liked to do outside of destroying things...

No one expect Ink.

Well, Ink didn't really ask, he just kind of figured it out over the years.

"I uh..." Error glitched, shaking his head. It took a moment for him to regain his composure as he felt like he would crash any moment. "Not much... I search for the Omega Timeline; I chill at home and eat chocolate and watch UnderNovela... Sometimes I go to OuterTale."

"Those are good hobbies!" Doc encouraged, writing down what Error said. "Tell me about UnderNovela and OuterTale. Why do you like them?"

Error scoffed lightly, looking down at the floor as he recalled the show. "UnderNovela is funny. So much unnecessary drama, all in the right ways... And OuterTale..." He paused. There was always something different about OuterTale, something he could never put his finger on. It reminded him of the Anti-Void, just more beautiful. It felt like home as if he had been in a similar place for most of his life that he couldn't remember. "I don't know. It feels like I've already been there thousands of times. It's so empty and dark, yet beautiful."

"How does OuterTale make you feel?"

Error glitched again. Maybe this therapy thing wasn't so bad after all. "It feels like home."

"What is home to you?"

This anomaly was really making him think. "I don't know," he snapped, losing patience. "It just... does."

Doc nodded and adjusted his glasses before scribbling on his clipboard. Error sank further into the couch, crossing his arms. How was this supposed to fix his problems again? He didn't see how this was helping. If anything, Ink just gave him another place to destroy.

"Tell me about your life," Doc broke the temporary silence. "Tell me everything that you remember."

Error started to backtrack to his first memory, waking up in the Anti-Void. He was vague about events like meeting Ink, kidnapping Swap, destroying the multiverse, etc. He pulled a few strings from his eyes and started to knit with them in his hands. He watched Doc get nervous as he played with them, but when he turned his attention back to his fingers, it felt normal to talk about what he had been through while he knitted a blue scarf.

He glitched more as he talked about the different AUs he destroyed before his big finale. He started casually until he got to the people's screams and tears. At the time, he had laughed evilly, enjoying their pain. However, it didn't help the pain that he felt himself. No matter how many people he killed and destroyed places, that pain remained. Nothing he did lessen that mental agony he had suffered from for so long. A sinking feeling rested in his chest. It engulfed him as he kept thinking back. Is this... what regret feels like?

Doc listened intently, asking clarifying questions until Error was done. "Error, do you remember anything before waking up in the Anti-Void?"

"No, I told you that," Error shook his head. "I just was here."

"There could be some hidden stuff there that has caused you to act the way you have," Doc explained. "And it might explain how you feel inside, too." He got up slowly and set his notebook down. Grabbing some red string and paper from a drawer, he flipped the billboard over and started hanging various things Error mentioned up. When he was done, he ran the red string through the various events, many leading back to the empty space, what happened before the Anti-Void.

Error watched and studied what he was doing closely. He would never admit it, but he marveled at how Doc traced his maturing behavior back to the X-Event, his respect for Ink back to Swap, his hatred for touch from Nightmare, how he woke up like an angry manbaby, and how that was caused by something he couldn't even remember.

"Unfortunately, our time is up today as I have another client coming in," Doc sighed. "But we can unpack all of this together and help you get to a place you want to be."

"And if I'm happy with how I am?" Error snapped, hiding the fact he actually wanted to come back and unpack his life.

"Are you?"

Once again, the therapist had left the destroyer speechless. He didn't like how Doc bested him with simple questions that no one had even bothered to ask him. Someone was asking Error about himself for the first time in his life, and he didn't know how to feel about it.

Doc smiled softly; he had his answer. "I'm assuming you're like Ink, and time is irrelevant to you. If you choose to come back, just let me know, and I'll make some room for you, okay?"

"Yeah, whatever," Error rolled his eyes and stood up. "Are we done here?"

Doc shuddered once more but tried to hide it. "Yeah, we are done for today."

"Good," Error threw away the scarf he was working on and walked through the door without a goodbye. What a waste of time, he thought. I could have been watching UnderNovela.

As he walked out of the office and to a place where he could travel to the Anti-Void freely, he paused, turning around. Usually, Error would immediately destroy any AU he went to. He glitched, glancing around. His eyes softened as his gaze saw Doc Sans waving at him with a warm smile.

Huh. A slight smile crossed Error's face as his anger disappeared. He stepped through his portal, having done no damage to this new alternate universe.

Maybe there's more to these... anomalies...

I've been thinking long and hard about this one, and given that "OVERWRITE" is like a program of sorts (overwriting files), I thought to myself "Bass.EXE can defeat and absorb programs to make them a part of himself, so what happens if he manages to defeat someone who can OVERWRITE files at will?" I think it's good to preface my answer by making it clear that when it comes specifically to Undertale AUs, I myself am very impartial to ships. As in, I don't really bother with them. I think anybody can ship whatever they want, as long as it's making them happy, I don't really care. I've got bigger things to worry about than people making skeletons smooch. With that, please do not take my words personally!! I am not speaking on a personal level!!

I think Color x Killer is a great ship due to its dynamic and lore potential. Horror x Farm, I get the premise behind it, I think it's good from a fanon viewpoint. Dust x Fell was one of the first ships I took any interest in, I think it's alright.

As for ships I don't like, Nightmare x Dream because it makes me uncomfortable to think about (I really hope I don't have to explain much further). And any ships with Error because I heavily doubt Error would ever want to date any 'anomalies' as he puts them (plus people usually ignore his haphephobia in regard to ships including him).

This ship makes pretty much no sense in the context of the story but I find myself loving the ship. I know error is in love with dream but shhhhhh he can simp for ink to.
