Patty - Testimonial of the Erotic Engine When I was invited to participate in the Erotic Engine Training I was hesitant and a little bit afraid because I wasn't sure what I was going to face. What I ended up facing were old fears and beliefs. Many fears arose, fears that I was barely able to witness before I worked with Dr Bernadette. I got to learn a new way to get to know myself by growing my relationship with my body and the messages it sends me. I am a body-based therapist and I am fairly aware of my bodily sensations and my feelings; yet with Bernadette, I got to experience an organic way to structure intuitively what didn't seem to have shape: my repressed fears and the ways I reacted to them. I became aware of the automatic reactions I had when I received stimuli I interpreted as threats. I also began to identify how other people respond and react to something as complex and primal as the emotions related to fear and one of its consequences: anxiety. For the Erotic Engine, it was important not to fall prey to a complex process or the demands of vast prior knowledge. The only requirements were conscious practice and an intention of improving the shape of the day to day experience of my life. The main benefit of this type of work has been my increased ability to observe myself and my partner in our interactions.
