Hi do you have any guro or ero guro you reccomend?
Sure!
Ero-guro recs: Shoujo Tsubaki, Tomino the damned, the laughing vampire, Dementia 21 (I have yet to read this one but I heard it's really good) basically anything by Suehiro Maruo and Shintaro Kago lol.
Belladonna of Sadness is not exclusively in the ero-guro genre, but it has a lot of elements and themes relating to it. I would strongly recommend this one if you want anime with unique visuals and a different art style.
Guro Recs: Dissolving Classroom, Pumpkin Night, Jinmen, Wicked city, anything by Kazuo Umezu or Junji Ito :)

Social Commentary, Horror Manga and the Left: From Ero-Guro to Junji Ito
Tumblr media
Content Warning: gore and body horror
Horror manga has always had ties with revolutionary politics. Its beginnings, in fact, start with a Marxist-oriented magazine in the 1960s. Garo, an early gekiga magazine for avant-garde art, was one of the most important magazines for the development of horror manga. Its publication lasted almost 40 years (starting in 1964 and ending in 2002) and the earliest works of horror manga can be found in its pages, as well as a career starting point for the majority of early horror manga artists. Aside from this, horror manga has ties to the ero guro nansensu movement of the 1920s (arguably earlier if certain woodblock prints are considered “ero guro”), which has a clear revolutionary bent. Horror manga today may be more detached from this history, but there are still traces of this revolutionary ethos in modern works.
Garo, The Legend of Kamui, and Burakumin
Garo was an alternative magazine published in kashi-hon stores during the 1960s which became the center of the Japanese counterculture movement. At the time, manga’s main distribution channels were weekly magazines made to correspond to TV series, such as Astro Boy or Speed Racer. Because these magazines’ main demographic was children, stories catering to mature audiences had to find somewhere else to be published. This is where the kashi-hon’ya industry comes in; kashi-hon refers to a for-profit rental service for books (similar to the old video rental stores in the U.S.). These stores allowed for the publication of more mature stories and the rise of gekiga, a form of graphic novel that dealt with more explicit themes.
Garo was the most popular magazine distributed within this network. At its peak in 1970, 80,000 copies of the magazine were published. Its main artist, Shirato Sanpei, had notoriety because one of his stories, Ninja Bugeicho, received a film adaptation in 1967. Shirato was a Marxist known for his social commentary; Ninja Bugeicho itself is a story about a left-wing uprising among the peasant class.

TW : this manga is very explicit. I highly advise that if you have not had any experience or prior knowledge of the ero-guro (erotic grotesque) and yaoi genres to NOT READ THIS MANGA. I very much liked reading this short horror story of a retelling of the creating of Frankenstein. Litchi Hikari Club does everything it should do for a series of the ero-guro and yaoi (even tho it takes just some pages) genres, and more. It's shocking, twisted, and leaves such an impact (the final chapter comes to mind instantly) it's near unforgettable. As I've said before though, if you're not interested in a series built on violence and lewdicity, you may want to check out something else. The gore is drawn equally as well. It's intense, enough to make any fan of horror and the grotesque look away (but then they'll have to look back again, it's so painstakingly drawn to detail.) If you need a good scare, a devious plot, or just want to look at some great artwork, Litchi Hikari Club is the manga to pick up. It's a guilty pleasure that's worth the time. ______ *Manga : Litchi Hikari Club (1vol, 9 chaps) *MAL rating : 7.26\10 | *My rating : 8\10 *MAL synopsis : By day, Hiroyuki Tsunekawa is an average student at Keikou Middle School, a dreary all-boys school in an industrial town. When the school day ends, however, Hiroyuki becomes "Zera," the enigmatic, beauty-obsessed emperor of the cult-like Hikari Club. For the past year, the Hikari Club has been creating an intelligent humanlike robot which runs on the lychee fruit, for the purpose of kidnapping beautiful girls. However, when the robot—named "Litchi"—finally brings back a girl, the Hikari Club begins to fall into disarray. As Zera becomes increasingly obsessed with executing those who betray him, the club's numbers begin to thin. As the remaining members begin to rebel and Litchi . . . . . . . . . . . . 🔖 : #goremanga #manga #horrormanga #gore #anime #horror #junjiito #goreanime #horroranime #mangagore #mangapanel #goreart #mangaart #animegore #mangaaesthetic #mangacap #guro #gorecore #tomie #mangaka #senpai #goreaesthetic #seinenmanga #horrorart #junjiitocollection #guroart #yaoi #seinen #berserk #mangahorror https://www.instagram.com/p/ColSWstIqRv/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

i read litchi hikari club (lychee ☆ light club), mostly bc it seems to be a touchpoint among a certain species of guro fan like that polish girl I reblogged earlier. it was interesting - apparently it was based on a play at the Tokyo Grand Guignol theatre, a spinoff of the famous French one, and the story was as saturated in gore and sexual violence as you'd expect from 'Grand Guignol'. it is about essentially a death cult of teenage boys at a boys' school, obsessed with youth and beauty, who create a Frankenstein's Monster-like robot with the purpose of kidnapping girls, but to get it to function, they give it the belief that it's human. the leader of the group, Zera, fancies himself a chessmaster but gets increasingly paranoid about betrayal, demanding more and more members of the club be executed; the other boys execute various plots to frame each other. the girl they kidnap is called Kanon, and she forms a relationship with the robot while playing at unconsciousness when the club members are around; this eventually builds into an escape attempt but of course it all goes wrong and nearly every character ends up bleeding out in a flooded basement. a lot of these murderboys are gay, and the story of Elagabulus is invoked. Zera's design, with his star gloves, blatantly draws on the villain of Teito Monogatari (Doomed Megalopolis); he's also low key a total wehraboo and peppers his speech with German. the art style is very precise and refined, emphasising the lips, and what with all the gakuran uniforms, it is especially calling to mind classic ero-guro artists like Suehiro Maruo and Takato Yamamoto.
all in all, I'm sure I'm not catching even half of what this manga is doing - not helped by the available translation for issues 7 and 8 being very poor. but I do think it's curious how these symbols get pulled out of context as a small but recognisable international fandom grows around them - gakuran becoming... not so much something that people would wear at an old fashioned school and a symbol of the old imperial regime, but the thing that femboys wear to sexily torture each other. I think people mostly come to this through visual kei, since there's a visual kei group themed around this manga and more generally, a few visual kei groups reach into ero-guro for their aesthetic. the other effect is one of a missing piece falling into place; I can be like "ohhh that's what YoRHa Boys was riffing on".

hi saint. i understand youre probably not familiar with the inner workings of the chronically online, being a creature and all, so heres what that stuff is
discord is an instant messenger. you can make groups and invite people and stuff. i figure youve at least heard of this before since youre from an indie game
whump fanfic is a genre of fanfiction where the characters are just having a real bad time. an absolute go of it. just the most pessimistic, brutally depressing stuff you could imagine.
guro is short for ero guro which is short for eroticized gore. it originates from manga and anime but the term’s spread overseas since the rise of the internet.
so im fairly certain whats being implied here is that these kids are too busy wallowing in the trenches of self-prescribed misery to look around themselves and understand other people. hope this helps
i saw someone get called lesbophobic for being a transmasc butch and im just sitting here thinking about the multiple butch friends of mine ive given advice on how to get HRT or the fact thet the person who taught me how to get on HRT was a he/him lesbian its like. bro i understand half of you are like 14 and kindating southpark characters but you need to like. Go Outside and actually interact with gay people Not on your guro wump fanfic discord server

Tumblr media
[ID: An edited image of the Dr. Doofenshmirtz nickel meme. The first panel of the meme template shows three images: the cover manga of "Mai Chan's Daily Life", a movie poster of "Reanimator", and an album image of "Ice Nine Kills." The edited text in the first panel says, "If I had a nickel for everytime I was introduced to mikey's interests, I'd have three nickels." Second panel continues the text saying "Which isn't a lot, but it's weird it happened thrice."]
After remembering that one gender you made mentioning Mai Chan's Daily Life, I had to read it online cuz I love ero guro and any type of gore that erotic/sexualized and I love it (im a gore manwhore lol) Plus I know there is a movie (I believe?) based on the manga itself.
Plus, sooner or later, ur interests are gonna get me to watch a movie based on a school shooting and read a book about an A.I. that doesn't have a mouth and wants to scream /ref /joke
EEE IM SO GLAD U ENJOYED ALL THOSE esp mai-chans daily life!!! i love that manga so so much but i never recommend it cause of how. how deeply sexual and violent it is so im GLAD U LIKED IT!!! i know you'd love zero day and i have no mouth also.... hyped for if/when you ever give em a shot >:]
