If JFM truly cared about WWX, he would not have asked him to do this, knowing just how loyal and indebted he felt. Knowing how far WWX would go to "look after" JC because of that. Knowing WWX felt he owed them a life debt, when it was in fact the other way around and keeping this major fact from him the whole time.

JFM did not tell WWX one single thing about his parents... Did not stop the physical abuse the boy was suffering at the hands of his own wife... sorry it’s taken me so long to answer. i changed my entire ryuhaitham lore very recently so coming up with new details takes a bit more brain power. it means a lot that you’re asking, i’m always okay with yapping about us !! p.s i may have yapped a little too hard so i wholeheartedly apologise for the length of this 😭

we came to terms with our feelings at completely different times—him first, and me much, much later. as you can probably guess, it was a slow snowball effect. one realisation led to another until suddenly, we were thinking about each other in ways that friends definitely don’t.

it all started because we ended up in the same darshan, which meant we’d occasionally study together. we know he’s a promoter of self learning/study and pretty much marches to the beat of his own drum so at first, it was mostly out of obligation. you know, me being “that girl who isn’t from teyvat” may have nudged alhaitham (aloof as he is) to lend a hand, especially since he’s a top student and the akademiya probably gave him some gentle encouragement to help the odd outsider. over time tho, what started as polite study sessions grew into an actual friendship!

for alhaitham, the shift happened when he stopped viewing me as just this anomaly and saw how different i was from his initial impression. being thrown into an unfamiliar world made me cautious and reserved, but his refusal to treat me like some tragedy made me feel more at ease. since i’m more talkative in one-on-one settings, my personality eventually started bleeding through—flaws and all. and once he realised i wasn’t quiet but actually dramatic, sassy, comical, and maybe a little weird, he found it… endearing. he had one of those, “i don’t have a type, but…” moments. the rest, as they say, is history.

for me? erm… i’m embarrassingly slow on the uptake. i didn’t realise my feelings until after we graduated. in my defence, getting isekai’d into another world kind of messes with your sense of permanence, so romance was low on my priority list. but then one day, it hit me—alhaitham had been showing his affection in his subtle, alhaitham-esque ways all along, and our moments together always felt just a little deeper than with anyone else.

this isn’t to say he was painfully pining for me the entire time. alhaitham’s approach to his feelings very matter-of-fact. he enjoyed my company and found me pleasant to be around. if i didn’t feel the same, it wasn’t going to ruin his life.

the chaos started once i realised i had a crush on him. you can imagine how that went. i couldn’t even look at him without overthinking everything, while he was just… blissfully unaware of my revelation and internal spiral. there were definitely signs over the years that something was brewing between us, but we’re the king and queen of brushing things off in the name of logic. so yeah, it was slow!!!! but when things finally clicked, i suppose it was worth every agonising, awkward moment 🙄🤍

As much as Top and Mew are currently killing me I do find it hilarious how Mew is telling everyone "yeah I broke up with Top" but Top at any opportunity is like "yeah he's taken, he's my boyfriend". That last scene broke my heart, the way Top was just staring at him and gently caressing his face you can just tell he misses him so so bad. Very excited for next episode, as much as I love seeing all sides of Top's character I am missing his cocky and flirtatious side and it looks like Mew must say or do something which gives him the confidence to pursue him again. he's from earth Except it Sucks!! because he's ostracized a lot and has no friends💔 he will often come home and indulge himself in a bunch of his hobbies like drawing ,writing , making music, he's literally just the art kid. he was into a lot of fantasy and imagining himself in those kinds of worlds, doing lots of heroics , yeah you see where this is going . The irony

his only company is his mom which he doesn't mind too much, but it's led him to develop a very self centered attitude (he focused more on himself because he didn't have other people to empathize with if that makes sense?)mf never learned how to share

he ends up in the spiral because there was an urgent situation where mana was flooding into earth, quinn was sent to deal with it. he was worried that devin absorbed it because he could sense his magic and also wanted to save him because devin had some weird negative aura cast on him Somehow (effects include nausea and blurry vision, headaches to anyone nearby, fun all around) quinn was like What Is Going On, panicked, and took him along. worried about this decision later because what if the teachers flip . the plan was just to help devin and bring him back home (uhh very long groan. because this is wizard101 we all know the latter didn't happen)

coming into the spiral has changed devin a Lot for better and for worse. he felt guilty for leaving his mom behind, and she disappeared when he came back to visit. he was excited to learn magic but i think the realization settled in after he killed a man (malistaire)

as the arcs go on he has friends now! finally a circle of people who will accept him. he learns what empathy is because of that! hes still silly and loud but he becomes selfless, a bit more mature and level headed. but he feels like he's become "too selfless" to the point where he's going a little nuts ? always being self sacrificing just to save everyone if possible? the yw pipeline. he wishes he could settle down for A Minute to use his hands to create art again not destroy things . gwah.

he learns his dad is the giant tree and his mom straight up stole him when he was like 3 or something and took him away . Crazy. he's conflicted by the fact that he's being shaped into a weapon by no matter who it is? his mom or the spiral? (his mom is a completely different can of worms I will not be getting to rnLOL but yeah she was just plotting to use him for selfish reasonz) he doesn't like knowing he was born for the sake of (all the horrors he's had to deal with. Erm?) and wants to have an identity seperate from that. his friends remind him that he's still just a human being too. he's doing his best

he delved more into astral magic around arc 3 which was not by choice. at all. (crazy woman told him to . idk why but ihave a lot of evil wizarfd women) and he should not have learned that much but he did! uhmwhoops. it's hazardous. it does not just enhance spells -he could accidentally fuck up time and space. he's learning how to control it with eden and lalin because he needs to eventually. does not actually go to the arcanum scholar about it because he's terrified of seeming like a threat to them

hypothetically he could time travel but that's for his super secret alternate version who's stuck in a time loop we don't worry about that guy

devin's other path would've been a villain if quinn never dragged him into the spiral,, he was missing and people were looking for him but it was near impossible to find him because of the aura he had going on. ambrose's spell wouldn't have worked. (his mom was taking a lot of precautions) it was just known that the scion was out there and he needs to get his ass in the spiral asap or we're all fucked (quinn standing there like 🧍‍♂️as if he isn't ambrose's errand boy)

devin's alternate self is aware of him and is supposed to show/answer "which life would've been better for him". since he's obviously not having a care free time in both

dasein kinda reached him around empyrea because of the astral magic stuff sorta fucking with reality but it was very limited

oh and his eyes turn from full purple to a tint of blue he's got stardust hands now. it's "contagious" and he can flick his hands onto anything and get glitter all over it, he does it a lot on his friends . his blood is also glitter. somebody help him. pros: glitter. Cons: black holes. is it worth it

he's trying to start a silly band.. only amari and erin will join nd they will never stop annoying the others about it

devin is good at the storm spells, but the machines related stuff that his teacher assigns? not at all.so he cheats and asks for eden to do it

his pet is a zappy glowbug who's always scared of everything and frequently flies into glass. it acts as his nightlight. it's also probably radioactive . it can charge your devices but they have a chance of exploding. has also probably electrocuted people

And like you said, the magic was all over the place. The mirror scene where Wanda climbs out of it like the girl in The Ring, Stephen fighting with music notes (why?), the demons that came out cos Stephen possess a dead body (what…), then Stephen using those demons as magic (whatttt).

And if Stephen had a character arc it was so subtle that it was barely noticeable 🙄

Finally took my first roll out this evening to the nearest grocery store, along with Mr. C. It's actually pretty convenient to get to, but I think he suggested a walk over there to make sure my, erm, directionally challenged ass could at least find food! 😅

I had to do a little bit of a tour, to at least glance at what they had. (Plus grab a couple of items we needed while we were there, like some hand soap for the kitchen.) It does look to have a pretty good variety of stuff!

Yeah, as I commented before, when we were looking at semi-affordable real estate? New Apartment is actually smack in the middle of one of the far right weirdos' supposed "No Go Zones": a particularly immigrant-heavy suburb, in a metro area with lots of immigrants overall. And that store's selection really does reflect it!

I had to cut my perusal short because looking at the variety of awesome looking and smelling wares at suppertime really started bothering my currently fucked-up stomach. But, with any luck at all? Soon, my pretties! 😁

Just the extremely international tea and coffee selections looked dangerously interesting for the moment, and I'm sure there's plenty more that I can handle now whenever I go back less hungry to begin with.

(Same with browsing some of the nearby restaurants/takeout places online, not too surprisingly. Also reflecting the amount of diversity locally, and my own immigrant ass is really looking forward to trying some of the options!)

Before heading into the grocery store, I had to do a little tour of the mall-ish shopping center it's located in. Plenty more intriguing smaller shops (and food opportunities!) in there, obviously catering to a rather international clientele. I look forward to poking around when I have the time, and more are open.

But, another thing I spotted, and will have to try out of curiosity:

Yep, it's some type of soft serve vending machine? With sprinkles, and hugging penguins. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The Household Swede had never seen one of those before, either, so it's apparently not just one of those "normal for Sweden" things. (Though there is one hell of a lot of ice cream/dairy products in general! 😎🍦)

Going to have to try that out of curiosity before too long. No idea about the quality of vending machine frozen delights, but at least it has cups by default and not gluteny cones. Likely mainly because paper cups don't go stale without ample protection, but hey.

I just seem to have, erm, invested another roughly $120/£85 in coffee and paraphernalia. 🤡

I was originally planning to just order one of their assortment packs to try. Which should last us a while! But, then I also saw they had a pretty good deal going on an AeroPress, which I had been wanting to try anyway. So, why not. In for a penny, and all that.

That would be on top of the moka pot--as artistically rendered above!--along with a hopefully half-decent hand grinder and milk frother already on the way from elsewhere, yeah. 🙄

On the plus side, we should soon be pretty well set up to make stronger more espresso-like coffee/drinks from that at home. Quickly, and much more affordably than buying an actual espresso machine of even vaguely reasonable quality. Which was kinda my idea, going in.

And, it struck me that I've probably been saving more money than that a month, just by (finally) getting off the cigarettes what I realized is now over a year ago! 😊 Even with vape supplies running higher here than in the UK, because taxes AFAICT.

That is still pocket change by Serious Coffee Person standards, and we can kinda afford it. But, for my cheap ass, which certainly does not intend to head down any Serious Coffee path? Ouch. 😵

I felt like a real dumbass last night, after finally finding out exactly why Mr. C avoids whole bone-in pieces of chicken. After almost 16 years living together.

He has a lot of sensory issues with texture/mouthfeel, and has trouble eating anything like, say, pork or lamb shoulder--with all those different muscle bundles together in one piece of meat. (Unless you shred it or cut it up enough to make that much less obvious in the texture.)

So yeah, I figured that similar was likely the reason he doesn't much want to eat whole chicken legs/thighs/wings. A lot more going on texturally than with the breast filets he prefers.

A couple of times that i remember, he'd thrown in an "It's too much effort for what you get!" when I offered him some of my wings out of politeness. Not sure what you mean by that, but OK ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Erm, yeah. I found out what that means last night, when he decided to try some tangri kebab with no description off the delivery menu, and what he got was several grilled marinated chicken legs. ("Tangdi or tangri literally translates to legs...")

He tried one leg, then declared the rest too much work...after dismantling the one with a fork and knife. 🙃

(Yeah, I ate the other couple of pieces with my hands. And they were yummy enough that I'll probably get some next time we order from there.)

Tbf, he usually avoids whole pieces like that enough that I don't think I had actually seen him eat a non-saucy chicken leg with knife and fork before. In almost 16 years living with him.

I knew that bread is the only thing that's usually acceptable to eat with your hands in Sweden. (And even that can get complicated by context with sandwiches: How to Eat a Hamburger in Sweden) Besides candy and some snack foods. A narrower range than seems to be acceptable here in the UK, and they use utensils where I wouldn't normally.

But yeah, apparently you can take the person out of Sweden...

AFAICT, that is ingrained enough that, indeed, he still feels a need to work for his chicken wings with a knife and fork. At home. (And he's not nearly as clumsy and prone to embarrassing himself with food in public as my dyspraxic ass, to just avoid certain foods entirely.) I felt kinda dumb for not putting that together before.

He may still be dying a little inside watching me going at certain foods barbarian style, especially at home where I feel a lot freer with it. Another case where training is about equally ingrained. Yay cultural differences!

Anyway, that did explain a lot. And I guess he'd be somewhat limited in options that aren't too much work at a barbecue place. 😅 Coming back around to the OP.

And I already knew that I'd better be careful ordering food in Sweden. See also: dyspraxia, and a long history of trickier utensil work food flying across the table and/or into my lap. Especially if it's saucy. 🙄

OTOH, I always feel like some kind of barbarian whenever we go to Nando’s here. (How much I care is another matter.)

They actually post at least one big sign stating that it’s totally OK–and, in fact, encouraged!–to eat the chicken with your hands. And I am often the only person I see doing so, in an always crowded restaurant. Just imagining most of the other diners in a barbecue joint.

Similar anywhere there are chicken wings, tbh. Or peel-on shrimp. You haven’t lived until you’ve watched someone awkwardly try to eat whole shrimp entirely using utensils.

(Then there was one older lady at the next table in one restaurant we went to in Stockholm. I had to make some effort not to stare rudely, because I didn’t know it even was possible to dismantle a saucy rack of ribs that effectively and daintily with a knife and fork. It was something to behold.)

ETA: I just don’t order anything like ribs in settings where I think I’d feel too conspicuous just ripping at them barbecue place style. I’m a messy enough eater by default anyway, without trying to play on hard setting in public 😵
